Danny Jones felt ‘self-helped’ penning solo music

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Jones felt “self-helped” after penning his solo music.
The McFly star launched his solo career last year and previously revealed the studio sessions for his debut EP acted as his way of dealing with the affects of his father walking out on his family when he was 18.
The 33-year-old musician has admitted it took “a while” to write the lyrics as it was like therapy for him and it was “hard” to “revisit” his past experiences which caused him “anxiety”.
Speaking to the Official Charts: Take The Hit podcast, Danny explained: “The solo stuff took a while. It’s been like therapy because growing up with whatever experiences you grow up with, it’s hard to write about it.
“It’s hard to go back and revisit it and understand why you’ve got anxiety; understand why you are who you are.
“I have more positives that I can pull [from it] than negatives.
“Yes I’ve had anxiety, yes I’ve been down about it, yes I don’t talk to my dad anymore.”
The experience was also freeing and the ‘Obviously’ hitmaker – who has 17-month-old son Cooper with wife Georgia – says he felt like he became “a man” during the two years.
He added: “I feel self-helped, in a way, because of the situations I’ve written about and not realising I felt that way. “Honestly, it’s been these huge two years of becoming a man, I suppose.
“I’ve definitely become stronger just by writing about it. It’s almost like a weight off my shoulders.”
On why he had to write these personal songs for himself, Danny previously explained: “When we had our year off from the 15 years of madness, I started writing for The People and then all this stuff I’ve not dealt with like mum and dad’s breakdown in their relationship.
“And I was like: ‘These can’t be for anyone else.’
“These have to be for me so that’s why I started doing solo things.”

Tulisa: N-Dubz reunion will happen

OHMYGOSSIP — Tulisa says an N-Dubz reunion will “inevitably happen”.
The ‘Playing with Fire’ hitmakers – also comprised of her cousin Dappy and their friend Fazer – haven’t worked together since 2012 but the 31-year-old singer insists she will always be “ready” to go back on stage with her bandmates.
Speaking ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (23.07.19), Tulisa said: “It really is something that’s going to happen inevitably, it’s just when. I’ll be 90 years old, if I live that long, with a walking stick, ready to go back on stage with N-Dubz.”
Tulisa has just released her new summer track ‘Sippin”, the second single she has released in 2019 following ‘Daddy’, which came out in April following her three-year break from the music industry.
The former ‘X Factor’ judge is thrilled with the new material she has recorded and thinks the sound is completely reflective of who she is as an artist.
She said: “It had to be right, there’s no point in me putting music out there just to put music out there. I really just had to take some time to think about the sound I wanted and what I wanted to be as an artist moving forward.
“When I got it right then I had a large quantity of music so I could stay consistent rather than one release and nothing else.”
The ‘Sweet Like Chocolate’ singer spent two years living on a farm when she took her break from the limelight, and although she has had a lengthy rest from music she insists coming back to it has been easy because she’s been singing since she was 11 years old.
Tulisa said: “It sounds kind of cliché but it’s like riding a bike. Entertaining has always been something I wanted to do since I was 11 years old, I think it’s either there or it isn’t.”

Taylor Swift to include old diary entries with new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift will release her old diary entries with her new album.
The 29-year-old singer is set to drop her new record ‘Lover’ on August 23rd and she has revealed that she will include 120 pages from her personal diaries in four deluxe editions of the album.
She said in an Instagram Live video: “This is the 13th year of me of putting out albums, which is my lucky number. So I figured we have to do something. I’ve been writing in diaries since I was 13 years old… When I went through them I marked pages what I thought you would be interested in seeing.
“It’s everything from being 13 and coming home from a bad day at school to Grammy night to processing my life changing as a teenager.”
Meanwhile, Taylor has just released her new song ‘The Archer’, the most personal track off her upcoming album, and she explained that, in keeping with tradition from her previous records, it will be track five on the record.
She said: “There’s a lot that’s covered emotionally [on this album] and I really wanted to give you track five before the album came out. Track five is kind of a tradition that really started with you guys because, I didn’t know that I was doing this, but as I was making albums, I was instinctively putting very vulnerable, personal, honest, emotional songs as track 5.”
The emotional song includes the lyrics: “I’ve been the archer/ I’ve been the prey/ Screaming, ‘Who could ever leave me, darling’/ But who could stay?
“All the king’s horses and all the king’s men/ Couldn’t put me together again/ ‘Cause all of my enemies started out friends/ Let me hold on to you.”
Track fives from her previous records include her debut album’s ‘Cold as You’, ‘Fearless’ ‘White Horse’, ‘Speak Now’s ‘Dear John’, ‘Red’s ‘All Too Well’, ‘1989’s ‘All You Had to Do Was Stay’ and ‘Reputation’s ‘Delicate’.

Gwen Stefani cancels Las Vegas show

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwen Stefani has cancelled her Wednesday show in Las Vegas.
The ‘What You Waiting For’ hitmaker is currently performing as part of a residency at the Zappos Theatre in Las Vegas until November 2 but she was forced to pull out of Wednesday’s (24.07.19) show as she is “unwell”.
In a post uploaded to her Instagram page, she wrote: “I am so upset to share that I am unwell & will not be able to perform my Vegas residency show tomorrow night. I was so looking forward to seeing everyone & performing & I wish I wasn’t feeling the way I do. To everyone who was coming to Wednesday’s show, I am so sorry. I am doing everything I can to be back on stage Friday.”
Gwen previously admitted her Las Vegas residency is “draining”.
She said: “It feels like a marathon! It’s so physical, it’s so emotional, it’s so draining, but it’s so rewarding. I feel so honoured … It’s been pretty magic. I’m pretty lucky … I get up and think, ‘What am I? Who am I? What am I doing? But then something just clicks in and I just have this need for attention from these people.”
Gwen – who has three sons from her marriage to Gavin Rossdale and is dating Blake Shelton – admitted there is a lot of pressure in having a residency because it means people have travelled from a long way to see her, so she feels “blessed” to have been trusted with the gig.
She explained: “Everyone is coming to you from all over the world and it’s just tall order. You’re up against Vegas, and all the other shows and all the other activities, and people like flew in and are having a weekend, and it’s a big deal. I feel really blessed. I know they’re not just handing [residency shows] out to anyone.”

Ronan Keating influenced by George Michael

OHMYGOSSIP — Ronan Keating says the late George Michael has been the biggest influence on his life.
The Boyzone frontman was a huge fan of the ‘Careless Whisper’ hitmaker – who passed away in December 2916 – when he was growing up and was pleased to call him a friend and mentor later in his life.
He said: “The most influential person in my life had been George Michael.
“He was very important to me and was one of my musical heroes growing up.
“Then he became a friend and mentor and someone I’d lean on.”
The 42-year-old star still struggles to “understand” the deaths of his beloved mother Marie and former bandmate Stephen Gately.
He said: “The toughest challenges I’ve faced are the deaths of my mother and Stephen Gately.
“My mum had cancer so you’re kind of building walls and preparing to protect yourself, but with Stephen it was so out of the blue.
“He was so young – it was the craziest thing ever in our lives. It’s still hard to understand.”
The ‘Life is a Rollercoaster’ hitmaker was just a teenager when he found fame and he wishes he’d enjoyed the early years a bit more than he did at the time.
He told new! magazine: “I’d tell my 16-year-old self don’t take yourself so seriously and just have fun.
“I worked hard in making sure the band worked, but those six years went by in the blink of an eye and I wish I had enjoyed it a bit more.”

Lil Wayne compares Tyga to Flo Rida

OHMYGOSSIP — Lil Wayne has compared Tyga to Flo Rida.
The 36-year-old rapper is a big fan of both musicians and he loves that they both work hard to ensure every song on their albums can be a hit single.
Speaking to Billboard, Wayne explained: “I look at certain things. It ain’t about the music. I look at certain things and how he approached things. So the way that he approached the song was every song was supposed to be a single. Like every song is supposed to be a hit. I don’t wanna compare, but he reminds me of Flo Rida. Every damn song Flo Rida put out, we may have not heard of it and you may not hear it, but I bet you somebody overseas done heard it. I bet you it’s the No. 1 song on somebody’s charts. That’s why I like Tyga, he knows how to go in there and say, ‘No. This is song ain’t about to be No. 15 on an album.’ If somebody has 15 songs on the album, then we’re about to shoot a video for all 15.”
Lil Wayne is currently on tour with Blink 182 and he praised drummer Travis Barker’s “swag”.
He said: “Man, Travis, plain and simple, his swag is great. He knows what to do with that. Once he gets behind that drumset, boy, it ain’t about nothing else. Music is music. Once you hear that drum, he knows what he’s doing. Again, it’s his swag, he knows how to relate. He’s a cool kid, though.”
And he admitted that he is enjoying playing to a new type of audience on the tour.
He said: “I mean, there’s a huge difference in crowd energy. Those folks they’re there to have fun and that’s not to say that when we go to hip-hop shows that we’re not there to have fun – but you know, we also fly and we don’t wanna get too sweaty, and we don’t wanna look too crazy. You know, we don’t wanna lose our minds. They don’t have none of those restrictions. They wanna look too crazy, they wanna get sweaty and they wanna lose their minds.”

will.i.am wants Madonna collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — will.i.am wants to work with Madonna.
The Black Eyed Peas star – who has previously collaborated with the likes of Britney Spears and Justin Bieber – thinks the ‘Ray of Light’ hitmaker is “the queen” and though he’s got the means to contact her, he won’t broach the subject of a collaboration until he sees her face-to-face.
He said: “I’d love to work with Madonna. It’s like, Madonna! The queen!
“I’ve got her number so I could WhatsApp her but things like that you’re supposed to do right in front of their face.
“I don’t want to go through a phone and let some other company have my conversation. I’d want to do it in person.”
These days, the 44-year-old star and his Black Eyed Peas bandmates, Taboo and Apl.de.ap, lead quiet lives and things don’t get too raucous backstage at their gigs.
Taboo told Closer magazine: “None us drink so there won’t be champagne. There’ll probably be tea, I really like tea.”
will added: “There’ll be some nice vegan food, because I’m vegan.
“Probably fruits, vegetable platters and salads.
“I really like ginger too so I hope there’s some of that. We can have fun without alcohol.”
will recently admitted he is keen to work with Cheryl – who he managed until 2013 – again in the future and they have been discussing the possibility of a collaboration.
He said: “We talked about it at a Post Malone concert.
“I would love to work with Cheryl again, she is awesome.”

The Corrs to reunite for new tour

OHMYGOSSIP — The Corrs are set to reunite for a massive tour.
Siblings Andrea, Sharon, Caroline and Jim last toured in 2016 and had a one-off gig in London in 2017 but the quartet are ready to get back on the road in Europe and the US.
A source told The Irish Sun newspaper: “Performing together is second nature for The Corrs. They love doing it and the reaction they get from crowds when they play.”
The band found huge international success with their second album, ‘Talk On Corners’, which was released in 1997 and insiders have insisted their success was down to timing.
An insider explained: “The Corrs arrival on the music scene in the late Nineties was perfect. They were embraced along with Riverdance and the blockbuster Titanic, which was seen by some as an Irish film.
“10 years earlier, it wasn’t trendy to be Irish in the UK, and if The Corrs had landed ten years later, they would have had to perform on ‘X Factor’.
“Can you imagine The Corrs performing their songs in front of four reality show judges and asking them ‘are we any good?’ It wouldn’t have happened.”
The band sold 45million records before taking time out in 2006.
Meanwhile, Sharon – who has appeared as a judge on the Irish version of rival BBC singing show ‘The Voice’ – previously blasted ‘The X Factor’ as “appalling”.
The star said: ” I think reality shows are dying out. The reason I did ‘The Voice’ was because I rated it. I felt like it was the antidote to ‘The X Factor’ which I think is appalling.
“On ‘The X Factor’ you’d almost think that these judges could put these bands together and somehow they have this amazing foresight and they know how to make people superstars. They don’t. Superstars are born. They work at it. They work at their job. They make music. They sing brilliantly. They play brilliantly. You don’t make that. You know what I mean, that is made and it involves a lot of hard work.
“Some of the artists are very young and impressionable and they are being given the wrong impression. There’s no way you’re not going to have to work your backside off in this industry.”

Kate Nash went ‘insane’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Nash “lost [her] mind” on tour.
The ‘Foundations’ hitmaker admitted life on the road isn’t very glamorous and she’s grown to accept there will always be a point where she goes “insane”.
She said: “There is a point on tour when you go insane.
“Especially when you have to deal with a rank dressing room, like we did in Boston. I actually lost my mind a little bit.
“I opened my towel and a gigantic clump of other people’s hair fell on me.
“The routine is not glamorous. There’s a stage where you can’t get clean. Even after a shower you think ‘Well that was pointless, it’s in my pores.’
“You’re just dirty and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
But the 32-year-old star loves the camaraderie between herself and her band.
She told Grazia magazine: “Living on a tour bus is like being at a teenage camp, you revert back to really silly jokes and weird routines.
“Once we bought these kids torches that had dinosaur shapes at the end.
“We would shine them on the roof of the bus and everyone would have to make up stories.
“You bond so much because you end up having so many deep and meaningful conversations.
“I love my band – they’re like my sisters.
“I feel lucky that I have a job where I get to spend so much time with people I really love.”
Kate struggles to sleep and often worries it’ll impact on her shows.
She said: “After I finish a performance on tour I’ll be buzzing until 3 or 4 am. I definitely can’t sleep straight away. You have to get rid of that energy…
“I’ve had really bad insomnia since I was 14. I’ve been scarred from being a teenager!
“But I can do a lot in little sleep – it’s what gets me through tour.
“I get nervous and think I’m going to crash before the performance.
“I always think, ‘F**k, how am I going to move my legs and do the show?’ but then right before you go on, you get this crazy adrenaline rush and it all kicks in.”

Blink-182 reveal album release date

OHMYGOSSIP — Blink-182’s new album is set for release on September 20.
The chart-topping band – which features Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Matt Skiba – have not released an album since ‘California’ in 2016, but Mark has now confirmed that new music will arrive over the next couple of months.
Appearing on ‘Good Morning America’, Mark – who was joined on the ABC show by his bandmates – shared: “New music … September 20 is the release date of the album.”
The band performed some of their hit songs on the programme, before surprising fans with the album announcement.
Despite this, they have yet to confirm the name of the new record.
In June, Mark revealed Blink-182 were planning to release a new album “this summer”.
The group’s bassist and singer confirmed that the ‘What’s My Age Again’ rockers had been working hard on their long-awaited album.
He said: “There is not an exact date. It is coming out this summer. I was just on the phone earlier today with Ron Perry, who’s the head of our label, and we are figuring out the exact launch date.
“But we are finalising mixes right now, we have about half the album mastered, and the announce on when the album will be released will be forthcoming.”

Brendan Benson isn’t cool

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan Benson didn’t think he was “cool enough” to be in The Raconteurs.
The 48-year-old singer/songwriter joined the supergroup when bandmate Jack White had found huge success with The White Stripes, while ‘Little’ Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler were known for The Greenhornes, and while he was initially “intimidated” by the rest of the band, he’s glad they forced him to “step up” and push himself.
He admitted to MOJO magazine: “I remember feeling not cool enough to be in this band at the beginning.
“I was in awe of all these guys, really intimidated.
“But that’s an itch the band scratches for me – I have to step up, I can’t just rest on my laurels.
“And I’d lost the plot a bit, trying to be a clever pop songwriter.
“The Raconteurs brought me back to a primal, earthy thing. It’s my rock’n’roll fantasy. I never dreamed of being a solo artist, I always wanted to be in Kiss or Cheap Trick.”
While the democratic nature of the group has been questioned by people who feel Jack White must be in charge, he insisted everything is genuinely equal between them.
He said “On my solo tours, I had hired guns playing with me.
“And we got really creative and got to some amazing places.
“But a band is a band. Like, we’re all in this together – if a promoter decides to rip us off and not pay us tonight, we all suffer.
“But if that happens with my solo band, the band is still gonna have to get paid.”
Patrick jokingly added: “If a promoter tries to rip us off, he’ll get beaten up by four people, not just Jack.”

Prince’s estate ‘wins bootlegging lawsuit’

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince’s estate has reportedly won millions in a legal case against the bootlegging of the late star’s music.
The tunes of the iconic singer – who died in April 2016, aged 57 – were at the centre of the fierce legal row, which resulted in his estate being awarded $7 million in reparations from Eye Records, according to TMZ.
The estate accused the record label of being a “bootleg label dedicated to Prince” – and it’s now been instructed to remove all of their bootlegged Prince music.
The lawsuit says that Eye Records was using the online store newlovesigne.com in order to sell the bootlegged music, with Prince’s estate demanding $2 million per alleged trademark violation.
Earlier this year, meanwhile, Prince’s estate launched social media accounts for the late music legend to celebrate his legacy.
The ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker’s fans were offered the chance to check out content about his music and life on Twitter and Instagram by following the username @Prince.
The iconic star had more than 1,700 GIFs – moving images that can be used by fans – made by GIPHY which showcased each decade of his 40-year career.
As well as the official pages for Prince, @PRNlegacy, on both Twitter and Instagram, was created as an archive for all things about the ‘Raspberry Beret’ singer.

The Sugababes record new music

OHMYGOSSIP — The Sugababes are recording new music.
Mutya Buena has revealed the original line up of the girl group – which also includes original members Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy – are working on new tracks and planning a tour ahead of the 20th anniversary of their debut album, ‘One Touch’.
She said: “We’re working on new music and have a secret project that should be made public later this year. Plus we are working on something special for our fans that is coming out for our 20th anniversary. As well as the music we’ve planned a tour. We need to put it out there for everyone to see and hear us again. Everything new we are working on will be classic Sugababes/MKS sounds. I’m excited to get out there.”
The original line up of the Sugababes reunited in 2013 as MKS to release the song ‘Flatline’ and whilst there has been no releases since, Mutya insists they have been working on music all the time.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “We’ve not really stopped being together and it’s been five years now. We’ve been working on music but everyone’s got their own lives as well. The reaction to the picture we put online was overwhelming. We can’t wait to get started. Next year will be our year.”
The first ever album released by the girls was 2000’s ‘One Touch’, which included the hits ‘Run For Cover’ and ‘Overload’.
However, shortly after the album was released Siobhan quit the group with Heidi Range taking her place.
In 2005, Mutya left stating she could no longer commit to the band after giving birth to daughter Tahlia Barrymore in March of that year.
Mutya was replaced by Amelle Berrabah, which meant Keisha was the only original Sugababe left.
However, she quit in 2009 to be replaced by Jade Ewen before the final incarnation of the pop group disbanded in 2011.

Kimberley Walsh rules out Girls Aloud reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Girls Aloud have no plans to reunite.
Although the Spice Girls had a hugely successful reunion tour this summer, Kimberley Walsh has insisted that Girls Aloud will not be following in their footsteps and getting back together.
Speaking about her group, which includes Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding and Nicole Roberts, Kimberley told HELLO!: “There is no Girls Aloud reunion on the cards right now.
“The Spice Girls had a phenomenal career but it was very short, over four or five years.
“We literally lived and breathed each other so I think more time needs to have passed for anybody to get those feelings of getting us back together.”
Girls Aloud was created through the ITV talent show ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ in 2002.
The group went on hiatus in 2009 and reunited for their 10-year anniversary in 2012. However, they split for good following their ‘Ten: The Hits Tour’ the following year.
Meanwhile, Nadine previously admitted to tension with her bandmates and said she believes they didn’t like her because she was given more lines to sing.
She said: “A thing that did cause stress in the band was the fact that I was given more lines and the girls didn’t like Brian [Higgins, Girls Aloud collaborator and the mastermind behind pop production team Xenomania] as a result of it.
“They didn’t like the label as a result of it, and they didn’t like me as a result of it. So it was just circumstances which were out of my control: I didn’t decide who sang what. But I love my life and I just get on with it.”
However, Nadine admitted she’d be open to the possibility of being reunited with the group to celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2022.
She said: “It may happen. The answer is always the same: if everything comes together, then yes, I’m a huge supporter of Girls Aloud. I’d never say never to us coming back together.”

Ashlee Simpson celebrates 15th anniversary of debut album

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashlee Simpson has celebrated the 15th anniversary of her debut album.
The ‘Pieces of Me’ hitmaker marked a decade and a half since the release of ‘Autobiography’, which was unveiled on July 20, 2004.
She wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe it’s been 15 years!! (sic)”
Whilst her sister Jessica commented underneath the post: “Me neither!!! (sic)”
Back in 2016, Ashlee revealed she is working on new music with her husband Evan Ross and has been really enjoying the process.
She explained: “We’re working on an album together. So in the new year, that will be happening! It’s been really fun to work together. This way we can tour together! I’m definitely excited. I love working with my husband. We’re doing this album together and then we’ll go off and do our own.”
Evan also loves working with his wife as it gives the couple an opportunity to “hang out”.
He shared: “When you work separately, you don’t get to hang out – so this works out well.”
Despite having not released a solo album since ‘Bittersweet World’ in 2008, Evan claimed that Ashlee’s passion for music has never subsided.
He said: “I don’t think she ever really stopped. Music is something so important to both of us. So we’ll release this album and then she’ll work on hers.”
Ashlee and Evan collaborated on a song together back in 2015 called ‘Permission to Love’.
He said at the time: “We did an amazing song together, and we’re trying to figure out what to do with it because I feel like it’s got its own feel to it … It’s a real powerful song and we’re going to keep making music together. We love doing that. It would only make sense because we sing together all the time. It’s unbelievable how talented Ashlee is, and her writing is amazing. She just has such an ear, and I know she’s working on music now and she’s going to be deciding how she wants to put it out, but yeah, she’s incredible.”

Freya Ridings’ insane album

OHMYGOSSIP — Freya Ridings thinks it is “insane” that she has her own album.
The ‘Lost Without You’ hitmaker is gearing up to release her eponymous album and she “could not be more grateful” to be releasing the LP after suffering a series of knock-backs in her career.
She said: “I think everyone has those kind of knock-backs. For me it was because I love music so much, and being told I couldn’t do it because I couldn’t read music was this moment where you just have to find that inner rebel and find that fire and be like, I’m gonna do it by ear … people literally wouldn’t teach me other people’s songs because I couldn’t read the music. But I think sometimes the roadblocks make you take an interesting diversion to another place. I’m hugely grateful for that now and I think holding the album is just kind of … It’s just absolutely insane. It feels like everything up until now has been building to this moment and it’s like I just could not be more grateful.”
And the 25-year-old singer admits her new album has been “half therapy, half work” and she has enjoyed being able to open up on the tracks.
She added to Sky News: “When I first started writing songs, I was almost quite embarrassed that I couldn’t read music and I still to this day don’t really know what chords I’m playing, I don’t know the name of them. For me it’s much more about … it comes from a kind of subconscious, a deeper place, and it’s more about a sort of feeling. It’s been almost like half therapy, half work, to write this album because you have those moments you feel like you’re never gonna get past, the heartbreak or the loneliness or the pain, and then you write these songs and you do… and then suddenly you’re in front of 20,000 people at Glastonbury singing these songs back with you, and you’re like ‘how is this real?'”
