OHMYGOSSIP — Buddy Holly’s widow Maria Elena Holly will find it “emotional” watching her late ex-husband perform as a hologram.
The ‘Rave On’ hitmaker and fellow late rock ‘n’ roll legend Roy Orbison will tour together accompanied by a live band and live back-up singers in ‘The Rock ‘N’ Roll Dream Tour’ this October.
Although Maria is looking forward to seeing Buddy perform again, it will be a difficult experience for her as she misses him “every day”.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “I feel emotional every time I see a photo of Buddy, every time I hear his songs, I think about him every day.
“I miss him so much it hurts. It’s the simple things, how he smiled, and how tender and loving he was with everyone, especially me.
“While it won’t be easy seeing Buddy because I miss him so, I do want to see him perform again, and I truly want to see his fans enjoying him in concert again.”
Buddy and Maria, 86, had only been married for six months when the star tragically died at the age of 22 in a plane crash in 1959.
His widow is looking forward to the tour bringing Buddy’s music to a “new generation of fans”.
Following the success of BASE Hologram’s ‘In Dreams: Roy Orbison in Concert’, the pair will perform digitally remastered versions of their classic hits together.

The concert series will launch concurrent tours in Europe and in North America and will include Roy’s chart-toppers such as ‘Oh, Pretty Woman’, ‘You Got It, ‘Only The Lonely’ and ‘I Drove All Night’, while the CGI Buddy will perform fan favorites such as ‘Peggy Sue’, ‘Oh Boy!’, ‘Not Fade Away’ and ‘That’ll Be the Day’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX is “extremely grateful” to Taylor Swift for letting her open for her on the ‘Reputation Stadium Tour’.
The ‘Gone’ singer has had to clarify her comments after she said in an interview with Pitchfork that she felt like she was “getting up on stage and waving to 5 year olds” each night of the 2018 world tour, which Camila Cabello was also a support act on.
In the article, in which she stated she will no longer do support tours, Charli said: “I’m really grateful that [Taylor] asked me on that tour.
“But as an artist, it kind of felt like I was getting up on stage and waving to 5-year-olds.
“I’ve done so much of it, and it really cemented my status as this underdog character, which I like now.
“But I need to just own my own f***ing s*** finally.”
The ‘1999’ hitmaker was then criticised on social media by Taylor’s fans – who are known as Swifties – and Charli took to Twitter to put the quote into context.
She wrote in a lengthy note to her followers: “Hey, a few people on the Internet have taken something I said out of context and I want to clarify that there is absolutely no shade and only love here!
“In the printed conversation of this much wider conversation, my answers about this tour were boiled down into one kind of weird sentence – leading up to that tour I’d been playing a tonne of 18+ club shows and so to be on stage in front of all ages was new to me and made me approach my performances with a whole new kind of energy – more so I talked about how it was brilliant opening for Taylor, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I was given and how much fun it was to perform to a new audience!”
“Any tour I’ve been on with any other artist as an opening act has always taught me so much.
“It’s always wonderful to watch other artists do their thing, own their stage, and speak their language to their dedicated fan bases – and this was especially true for the reputation tour.

Charli also admitted in the interview that she is “comfortable” in her “section of pop”, but often wonders why she isn’t “bigger” than she is.
She said: “Sometimes I don’t understand why I’m not bigger than I am.
“I feel very comfortable in my section of pop.
“I’m beginning to feel like the people who know, know. And the people who don’t? They wouldn’t get it anyway.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Hollywood Vampires recorded their second album at Johnny Depp’s own studio.
Aerosmith’s Joe Perry – who completes the line-up of the legendary rock supergroup with Alice Cooper – has revealed the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor has a “well-outfitted studio” where they made ‘Rise’.
He said: “Johnny has a pretty well-outfitted studio. It was just a very creative time.”
And when quizzed on whether there was pressure on the band because they are all so high-profile, the guitarist said they could “stand up in front of any band”.
In an interview with Ultimate Guitar, Joe added: “I think this band can stand up in front of any band and it’s a great rock band. It’s an absolutely great rock band and the bottom line is any record we make will reflect that.
“It was fun to do and that’s the main thing.”
Their second record – the follow-up to their 2015 self-titled debut LP – which was released in June – is largely comprised of brand new material, but also features a tribute to Jim Carroll Band’s ‘People Who Died’ and Joe has put his own spin on Johnny Thunder’s ‘You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory’.
‘Poison’ hitmaker Alice previously said the songs represent how they “really sound” as a collective.
He said: “‘Rise’ is not only a totally different animal than the first Vampires album, it is unique to anything I’ve ever been a part of.
“I approached it very differently than I usually do when working on an album.
“Each of us; Joe, Johnny, Tommy and myself have written songs on this album.
“What is different though is that I didn’t try to change any songs to be more “Alice-like”.
“Because each of us has different influences, the sound of this album is very cool.
“I think that with this album, we are establishing what the Vampires’ sound really is, whereas with the first album we were more tipping our hats to our fallen rock n roll brothers.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mabel gave a group of girls a sneak preview of her album in the toilets.
The 23-year-old singer/songwriter has revealed she bumped into some of her fans in a bathroom and ended up playing tracks from ‘High Expectations’ for them.
Speaking on Hits Radio Breakfast, she recalled: “I met these girls one time and we started talking.
“They were like ‘I like your music… oh can you play us some new songs!’
“Usually I’d be like no, and then I was like, ‘yeah come on let’s do it’.
“We did like a little PA in the bathroom for them, it was cute.
“And then my friend came in and was like ‘you’ve literally been gone for half an hour and you’re doing a listening party in the bathroom?
“Everybody’s left I don’t understand what’s going on.’ But yeah, shout out to you guys, whoever you are.”
The ‘Finders Keepers’ hitmaker’s record sees her bare her soul and tackle her “crippling” anxiety, which she has suffered with from a young age.
She explained recently: “I had to examine myself and put myself back together. Growing up I’d had lots of confidence issues.
“They were crippling. Even up to the point of making the album, I still had confidence issues and problems with anxiety.
“But making the album, I came out the other side. Now I am OK with all of it. I started to believe in myself and deal with my negative thoughts. I wrote a song called ‘OK (Anxiety Anthem)’ which is the most important track on the record as it’s the one that made everything happen.
“I’d had a low day and was meant to be working with MNEK that day.
“I was embarrassed and felt like I’d failed so I started to write how I felt and that became the song. Now when I feel like that, I know how important it is to open up and talk.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Wombats’ Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy’s supergroup Love Fame Tragedy have released two new tracks.
Following his duet with Suki Waterhouse’s sister Maddi Waterhouse on his debut solo single, ‘My Cheating Heart’, Murph has released ‘Backflip’ with Pixies’ Joey Santiago, alt-J’s Gus Unger-Hamilton, Matt Chamberlain of Soundgarden and Lauren Aquilina, as well as ‘Brand New Brain’.
The songs feature on Love Fame Tragedy’s debut EP, ‘I Don’t Want To Play The Victim, But I’m Really Good At It’, which is released on September 27.
Murph said: “It’s great to have talented musicians, musicians who have their own niche.
“When you hear Joey play the guitar you can just tell it’s him and the same thing with Gus with the key melodies he chooses and the distinct sound of his voice.
“It’s great to have artists and musicians like that playing on songs of your own because it makes them ten times cooler, at least in your own head.”
‘Backflip’ is inspired by the techno-paranoia Netflix drama series ‘Black Mirror’.
The music video for ‘Backflip’ “depicts an image of disposable dating in 2019”.
Director Tyler Cunningham explained: “Murph and I were inspired by ‘Black Mirror’ – both aesthetically and thematically.
“We wanted to play on how dystopian modern dating is.
“The way that you can now easily toss a mate aside if they don’t check every last box, knowing full well there’s a bottomless pit of other options waiting on your phone.
“The visual’s set in an alternate reality, where everyone is born with a digitally printed tattoo to correspond with that of their soulmate.
“This motel is a place where couples unite after finding one another online.
“However, our protagonist’s match doesn’t turn out to be who she thought he was.”
Murph previously described his new side project as his “Gorillaz” (Blur’s Damon’s Albarn’s cartoon band) moment.
He said: “Yeah, it’s somewhere between Gorillaz and a solo project.
“I wanna keep collaborating and getting people on board, and if they’re around in the same vicinity and we can make it happen, that would be awesome.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd has teased the possibility of a new album dropping.
The 29-year-old singer – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – hinted he could be going back to his roots as he shared a selfie rocking his ‘House of Balloons’ era hair on social media while hinting he’s working on his first record since 2016’s ‘Starboy’.
Taking to Twitter, he simply wrote alongside the snap: “album mode full effect (sic)”
The announcement comes amid speculation about Abel’s relationship with on/off girlfriend Bella Hadid, 22, following reports they had called time on their romance more than a year after reconciling in May 2018 following an on and off relationship which began in 2015 and ended in November 2016.
But now, sources have insisted the couple have not split up, but are instead just ironing out some differences between them, “like normal couples do”.
An insider said: “[They] haven’t broken up, but are working through things like normal couples do. The couple travels a lot, works a lot and that often creates tension.
“However, the two love one another, have lost one another in the past and want to try and make it work. Right now they are together and working on keeping it that way.”
The pair were believed to have split, as it was claimed they’re in “different places” in their lives.
A separate source had said: “Bella and Abel have split. They are in different places right now, physically and mentally. Bella is prepping for her fashion week commitments and Abel is working on his music and his upcoming acting debut.”
Meanwhile, the ‘What You Need’ singer will also be making his acting debut in Adam Sandler’s new crime drama ‘Uncut Gems’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Black and Jack White have finally collaborated together.
The Tenacious D star revealed he has paired up with the ‘Seven Nation Army’ hitmaker in after years of fans calling for the duo to team up, and he confirmed they have been in the studio working on new material.
Addressing the crowd during the ‘Tribute’ band’s Nashville show this week, Black said: “Jack White – we went over to his house today and recorded a brand new song.”
The two Jacks first met in 2006, and while fans will be excited about the collaboration it’s not known what the mysterious project will actually be, or whether White will feature on the new track or serve as producer.
The former White Stripes star – who posed for a selfie with Black and his bandmate Kyle Gass back in June – regularly has artists show up to his house to record music for limited-edition releases on his own record label, Third Man.
White had previously joked the universe might not be able to “cope” if the duo ever actually crossed paths.
He teased: “I don’t know if the space-time continuum could cope if Jack Black and Jack White meet and shake hands.”
Meanwhile, the Raconteurs musician recently revealed he gets advice from his close friend Bob Dylan, and said the iconic songwriter is an “incredible mentor” to him.
Asked whether Dylan ever gives him tips, he admitted: “All the time. He’s been an incredible mentor to me, and a good friend, too. I’m lucky to even have one conversation with him. Everything else has been icing on the cake.”
Despite their close friendship, White wouldn’t comment on whether the pair have penned a track together, or if they’d team up in the future.
He coyly responded: “I cannot tell you that. I wish I could tell you, but I cannot.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
The ‘You Need to Calm Down’ singer will take to the stage at the ceremony at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on August 26 in what will be her first televised performance since the release of her new album ‘Lover’, which hits shelves just three days before.
It is not yet known what Taylor – who last performed at the VMAs in 2015 – will be singing at the ceremony.
The 29-year-old star leads the nominations alongside Ariana Grande for this year’s event, with both women up for 10 awards, including the coveted Video of the Year accolade, for ‘You Need to Calm Down’ and ‘Thank U, Next’ respectively.
The ‘Me’ hitmaker is the first artist to be announced to be performing at the ceremony – which will be hosted by comedian Sebastian Maniscalco – but one person she won’t be sharing the stage with is Miley Cyrus, who recently insisted she wouldn’t be getting up on stage after being snubbed from the nominations list.
A fan wrote on Instagram last month: “Guess I’m not watching the VMAS this year… unless Miley performs.”
She replied: “No f***in way.(sic)”
And the 26-year-old singer – who is married to Liam Hemsworth – agreed with a fan who criticised the network for using Miley’s pictures “to promote their damn prizes”.
The poster fumed: “They care more about a f***ing green screen than a message to the world.
“Nominate anyone but at least do not use the image of Miley to promote their damn prizes @vmas and #SheIsComing #Peace.(sic)”
Miley replied: “Exactly.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Berman has died aged 52.
The singer/songwriter – known for his projects Silver Jews, and Purple Mountains – passed away yesterday, his label Drag City Records have confirmed.
A message on their Twitter account read: “We couldn’t be more sorry to tell you this. David Berman passed away earlier today. A great friend and one of the most inspiring individuals we’ve ever known is gone. Rest easy, David.”
David was due to start a North American tour this weekend to promote Purple Mountains’ self-titled debut album, which was released just last month.
He previously formed Silver Jews with Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich, and the group went on to drop six studio albums from 1994 to 2008.
The band had numerous line-up changes over the years, but David remained a constant member.
Before finding out David had died, Stephen tweeted: “I’m not up on astrology/cosmic slop –is there something up ??
cuz a lot of xxxtra bad stuff is happening to friends and also in the [world] #hippytwitter (sic)”
He then wrote: “I didn’t know about my friend DCB when I wrote this must have been in the air .His death is f**king dark ..depression is crippling.. he was a one of a kinder the songs he wrote were his main passion esp at the end. Hope death equals peace cuz he could sure use it (sic)”
In a statement released via Pitchfork, Bob said: “I was saddened to hear that David died. Stephen called me to tell me this afternoon.
“For most of my life, I was amazed by David as a person, a humorist and a writer. It was enlightening to have such a talented friend at a young age and realize that the talent wasn’t always a blessing.
“David battled mental illness for nearly all of his life. He had professional help and the unyielding support of hundreds of good friends. He had many loving and devoted fans.
“Please try to cherish your memories of him and his words and music including his last album Purple Mountains.
“I know I will and I’m grateful that the list of good memories and stories is long.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Depp is focusing on touring with The Hollywood Vampires after his next two movies.
The Hollywood actor’s guitarist bandmate Joe Perry has revealed the band are plotting a huge tour of Europe and the UK next year in support of their latest LP, ‘Rise’, and the actor will be making the band his priority once he’s wrapped on World War II drama ‘Minamata’ and ‘Waiting For The Barbarians’ – which is based on the allegorical novel by J.M. Coetzee, which tells the story of a British magistrate living in a colonial town who starts to develop a growing sense of unease about the Empire.
According to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, Joe said: “It will be a real tour worthy of the name.”
Speaking about Johnny’s “original” work on ‘Rise’, which also sees the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star put his own spin on David Bowie classic ‘Heroes’, the Aerosmith rocker continued: “You could say that ‘Rise’ is the very first original album by Johnny, it made sense for us to leave him to write most of the lyrics.
“We realised Hollywood Vampires could be much more than just a covers band. Johnny came with a book full of poems that he’d written for lyrics.”
The band – completed by ‘Poison’ hitmaker Alice Cooper – “laid down” ‘Heroes’ at the Hansa Tonstudio in West Berlin, where Bowie recorded the original for the 1979 album of the same name, as the second instalment of his ‘Berlin Trilogy’ release.
Joe admitted it was an emotional experience and they all felt like they were “with the angels”.
He said: “We laid that down last year in Berlin, in the same studio that David Bowie made the album of the same name.
“It was crazy hot. We recorded the whole thing live, we all felt a lot of emotion recording it.
“It was a sacred lucky moment because the studio was free during that one day off on tour. Johnny was with the angels, like we all were!”
‘Rise’ was largely recorded at Johnny’s very own “well-outfitted” studio.

OHMYGOSSIP — Willie Nelson has cancelled the remainder of his tour due to a “breathing problem”.
The 86-year-old country legend has been forced to postpone 30 dates on his ‘Club Luck Tour’, which was due to run right up until November 29 at the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma, as he seeks medical assistance.
However, he has vowed to be back on the road.
The ‘On The Road Again’ hitmaker – who has been touring with Alison Krauss – tweeted: “To my fans,
“I’m sorry to cancel my tour, but I have a breathing problem that I need to have my doctor check out.
“I’ll be back
“Love, Willie (sic)”
Willie has suffered with ill-health in recent years, with the singer being forced to cancel several concerts in January 2018 due to difficulty with breathing.
The ‘Always On My Mind’ hitmaker reportedly rushed off stage after appearing to struggle with his breathing and having a coughing fit whilst midway through his show at the Harrah’s Resort SoCal casino, in San Diego, last year.
His 30-year-old son Lukas Autry Nelson later issued a statement updating fans on his father’s condition.
He wrote: “Apologies all, Dad has the flu so we cancelled this week’s gigs in Cali and Vegas.
“If you have tickets, please contact the venue for a refund and we hope to see you on the road again soon (sic)”
And in 2017, he was forced to axe his Salt Lake City show due to suffering with respiratory issues, caused by the altitude.
He said: “This is Willie. I am very sorry to have to cut the Salt Lake City performance short tonight. The altitude just got to me. I am feeling a lot better now and headed for lower ground.”
And earlier that year, the ‘Whiskey River’ star missed out on a number of concerts due to illness.

OHMYGOSSIP — J Balvin has become the first Latin music artist to headline Lollapalooza.
The 34-year-old singer is the first Latino reggaeton artist to headline the Chicago event in its 28 year history, as he took to the stage to close out the third and final day on Sunday (04.08.19).
The singer later tweeted in Spanish: “After 28 years of @ Lollapalooza for the first time a Latin artist is the headliner of the night.
“This is dedicated to dreamers to Latinos and those who know that in life everything is cause and effect, and that we deserve to be here.”
Balvin’s headline slot marks the first time a musician who sings entirely in Spanish has topped the bill of the festival, and he marked the occasion by bringing out Puerto Rican chart-toppers Wisin y Yandel as special guests.
And fans were delighted to witness Latinx representation at the Chicago festival.
One fan tweeted: “J Balvin brought out Wisin y Yandel to sing ‘Rakata’ and my soul left my body for a moment.”
The Colombian star wowed crowds with fan favourites including ‘Mi Gente’ and ‘X’, and told crowds he was “making [his] dream” by performing at the music extravaganza.
Balvin – whose real names is José Álvaro Osorio Balvín – said on stage: “From Medellín, Colombia to the world, pa’ la vi’ Latino (short for para la vida, aka ‘for the Latino life’), this is our time. This is our moment. It’s our time to make our dreams come true. Like I’m making my dream, you can make your dream too.”
The reggaeton star also joined forces with clothing brand BAPE to release an exclusive tee in conjunction with his festival set, which saw the label re-imagined it’s iconic camouflage print for the occasion.
Balvin has previously collaborated with the likes of Beyonce, Cardi B, and Pharrell Williams.

OHMYGOSSIP — Mabel’s parents want her to stay true to herself when making music.
The 23-year-old singer is the daughter of Swedish singer Neneh Cherry and producer Cameron McVey, and with decades of musical experience under their belt, they’ve had some words of wisdom to pass down to their daughter about the dangers of money and fame.
Speaking on Steve Wright in the Afternoon, the ‘Fine Line’ singer said: “My dad was just like ‘Make sure what you’re saying is coming from your heart and that it’s real to who you are otherwise the money, success, and fame won’t feel good.’
“When they come to my shows, they come as mum and dad, not producer and artist.”
Cameron McVey is a music producer best known for his work with trip-hop band Portishead and pop band All Saints, as well as having worked with Massive Attack and Sugababes.
Whilst Mabel’s mother, Neneh, is best known for her hit ‘Buffalo Stance’ from her chart-topping album ‘Raw Like Sushi’ that was released in 1989.
The ‘Mad Love’ singer continued: “They just think everything I do is great because they’re parents and they’re crying all the time. They’re just super proud.”
Mabel – whose full name is Mabel Alabama Pearl McVey – has more musical talent in her family, as her uncle, Eagle-Eye Cherry, is best known for his hit ‘Save Tonight’, and her grandfather Don Cherry is a jazz legend.
Meanwhile, Mabel released her first studio album ‘High Expectations’ last week, and the single ‘Mad Love’ – which was released in June – has already reached Top 20 in the official charts.
She said: “I do take things one day at a time and it’s about enjoying what’s happening right now but I do have big dreams and goals for the future.
“This is my first album but I know I’m going to make many more.”
Posting on her Instagram, Mabel said about her album: “It took time, many lessons, ups, downs, heartbreak and all of the bits in between to be able to make the project that I’ve always dreamt of making.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bastille’s Dan Smith suffers anxiety while touring with the band.
The 33-year-old singer insists he is “not ashamed” of feeling anxious when he is with the group – also made up of Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson and Chris “Woody” Wood – but admits life might feel “a bit easier” for him if he “cared a bit less”.
He said: “We just happen to have a job that has these weird focus points. A lot of people feel anxiety in various forms and I’m sure life would be a bit easier for me if I probably cared a bit less and felt a bit less anxious.
“But it’s part of who I am. I’m not ashamed.”
And Dan admits his band mates are “really supportive” of each other when they are on the road, and the ‘Joy’ hitmakers feel “so lucky” to have such a job.
He said: “The tour life, everybody is really supportive of each other. We all just want each other to try and enjoy this because we’re so lucky to be doing this for our job.”
Dan has also encouraged other guys to speak more openly about their mental health.
He added to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Blokes just don’t talk about what they’re thinking or feeling but in recent years it’s become more normalised for people to be more open when they’re feeling s**t.”
In June, Dan revealed Bastille’s new album will explore the “relationships” people have with their mobile phones nowadays.
He said: “I think music and all forms of art should be holding a mirror up to what’s going on. We wanted this album to feel of its time.
“I wanted to talk about our relationships with our phones and with the truth and how complicated that is.
“We have this thing in our hands that’s a portal to all of the information in the world and somehow it’s seemed to have gone to the sourest, darkest form of itself while also being this amazing thing.”
And while the album will take a look at the darker side of social media, the band still want their songs to feel “fun to listen to”.
He said: “I guess we wanted to throw all of that out there and acknowledge our hypocrisies. We can all acknowledge that we’re a bit addicted to our phones but I think we’re all a bit guilty of it.
“I just wanted to jumble all of that into an album that is kinda fun to listen to. We wanted to write it in a way that hopefully, you don’t feel like you’re being hit over the head with these things, but I do think it’s important, if you’re making pop music, for it to aspire to say something; or at least provoke some sort of thought or conversation.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauryn Hill issued an apology to fans after she arrived over an hour late to her performance at Glasgow’s Playground Festival.
The ‘Doo Wop’ singer took to Facebook to say she was “sorry” for the “shorter set”, which only saw her perform seven tracks over the weekend – and vowed to return to the Scottish city to make it up to her fans.
She wrote on Facebook: “My sincere apologies Glasgow for the late show and shorter set. I appreciate the energy and support I did receive from the great crowd, and the patience of the promoters. I hope to come back and make it up to the Glasgow audience. It is only with great respect and Love for my art and the audience that I take the stage every performance. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in Europe, the crowds have been great and incredibly receptive. I look forward to my upcoming shows in Poland, Italy, Denmark, and the UK. Again, thank you, and my sincerest apologies for that shorter set. (sic)”
According to festival-goers, the former Fugees star had explained that she had been celebrating her son Zion’s 22nd birthday (03.08.19).
Similarly, in November, the star – who has a habit of arriving past her set time – took to Twitter to address her shortened sets at her shows in Brussels and Paris and blamed it on production issues.
The 44-year-old singer posted to her social media accounts at the time: “Dear Brussels and Paris,
We apologize for the late start. We’re working through the kinks of moving the production to Europe, with time changes and curfew restrictions, we’ve had a few challenges in these early shows.
With deep gratitude I come on stage to perform an album that means so much to so many. Every day we push past inertia to present something sincere. Thank you for coming, supporting and for your patience and understanding. We’re excited about this entire European run, and looking forward to the show tomorrow!

OHMYGOSSIP — Nile Rodgers was “fired” by Shakira.
The Chic legend – who has produced hits for the likes of Sister Sledge, Madonna and David Bowie and recently hit the studio with pop superstar Dua Lipa – rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to music, but he has revealed the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker wasn’t impressed with one of his suggestions when they were in the studio and sent him on his way.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, Nile recalled: “Shakira, I said we should start the song with the chorus and she fired me.
“It’s totally true and I tried to give her an example and said: ‘Check out every record you know of mine, because we were having a meeting, ‘Freak Out’ or ‘We Are Family’ or ‘Let’s Dance’ or anything, ‘Everybody Dance’.
“Everyone of my songs you like starts with a chorus.’
“But she wasn’t buying it.
“And I got fired right after the meeting.”
There is clearly no bad blood between the pair, as the Colombian superstar sampled Chic’s 1979 hit ‘Good Times’ on 2009’s ‘She Wolf’.
Nile might have worked with some of music biggest hitters, but still left on his wish-list to collaborate with is Toronto rapper Drake.
He said: “It would probably be somebody who wouldn’t be worried about me adding to their music and would be happy dragging me along for the ride, so somebody like Drake.
“That would be cool because I think somebody who is as consistent as Drake means I would probably have to work really, really hard to say: ‘Let’s do it this way’ and see if he would say: ‘That’s cool.'”
