OHMYGOSSIP — Niall Horan and Harry Styles look set to have a chart battle on their hands.
The One Direction stars are both said to be releasing new solo music at the same time, with Niall having just announced he’s dropping new single ‘Nice To Meet Ya’ in September.
According to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, his bandmate Harry – who recently filmed a music video for his as-yet-untitled track – is said to be dropping his first music since his 2017 self-titled debut album around then, too.
‘Slow Hands’ hitmaker Niall made his single announcement at the Capitol Congress 2019 at his label Capitol Records, where he performed ‘Nice To Meet Ya’, which Billboard reported as sounding “trippy” with “90s/’00s rock vibes and a bit of soul and dance”.
The 25-year-old star also has another treat in store for fans, with another ballad called ‘Put A Little Love On Me’, which has been produced by Adele and Liam Gallagher producer Greg Kurstin, also shared at the industry showcase.
Niall recently updated fans on a “special song” he recorded with strings.
He wrote alongside an Instagram studio snap: “Spent the morning back in the studio I recorded the whole of ‘Flicker’. We recorded some beautiful strings for a special song and I look forward to sharing it with you.”
As for Harry, it was recently reported that he tried to keep his music video shoot a secret by making out it was a mayonnaise advert.
The ‘Kiwi’ hitmaker’s team tried to keep the major filming for the promo under wraps, but the sheer capacity of Harry’s crew and security and the fact he was spotted by Mexican fans in Lombardo Toledano in Cancun, Mexico, as they filmed scenes at 20 buildings, including a yellow property, gave it away.
A source said: “The area was swarming with people.
“People in the neighbourhood knew filming couldn’t just be for a mayo advert, as there would never be so much security or such a large crew.
“His team had bought hundreds of bouquets of violet and purple flowers for the video. Harry spent most of time filming inside a yellow house.”
The 25-year-old singer’s debut record – which includes the hit single ‘Sign Of The Times’ – went gold in six countries, including the UK and US.
Meanwhile, the rest of One Direction, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, are also working on their debut albums.

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaun Ryder has joked that his wife Joanne is “gutted” that he watches the news instead of having sex after shows.
The Happy Mondays star’s hell-raising days are far behind him and now his tour rider is less “sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll” and just contains “s***t loads of chocolate”.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “Just s**t loads of chocolate really.
“It used to be sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll.
Now it’s just rock ‘n’ roll”… and the wife is gutted.
“After a gig I’m straight off stage, into me slippers and back to the hotel room to watch the news.”
In recent years, Shaun has suffered with his health and now does cycling and swimming to stay fit and well because of his thyroid problem.
The ‘Step On’ hitmaker hasn’t been able to produce testosterone in a decade, and he said that can have an affect on his sex drive, but the gel he is prescribed works magic on his libido.
He said: “It can, but this gel is great. As soon as I started using it it was like being 21 again but – without all bulls**t going on in your head. Joanne loves it.”
The 56-year-old rocker lost all of his hair this year and was told by doctors he has alopecia – but they are yet to find out why.
He said: “At the start of this year I had hair and a beard and then, almost overnight, the whole lot went, eyelashes, eyebrows, even me pubes.
“They don’t know what’s caused it.
“At first they thought I had that immune deficiency thing, but I haven’t.
“Then they said it was linked to me under active thyroid but that just makes me fat and tired.
“And I haven’t produced any testosterone for 10 years. I used to have injections but now I’m on the gel which is better.”
He was told that it could be stress-related, but Shaun insisted he hasn’t been stressed since he almost went bankrupt in a dispute with the former manager of his other band Black Grape in 1999..
He said: “The doctors said me alopecia must be stress related, but I’m 57 next month and at the least stressful time of me life.
“If I was going to lose me hair through stress it would have been during the 14 years of f*****g 100% receivership when all me money was being took off me. But I’m not f****** depressed.
“I’ve never been depressed. So they’re still experimenting on me.”
Doctors tried to get his hair to grow back but he reacted badly to the treatment and his stomach ballooned so much, he felt like he was going to “f***ing explode”.
He added: “I’ve had needles stuck in me head and face. The hair follicles are still there so they tried to start ’em up again. It didn’t. I just got a rash.
“And now me stomach blows up like a beach ball. The first time it happened I called my road manager in to watch and thought I was going to f*****g explode.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Slipknot have paid tribute to David Bowie on their first album in five years, ‘We Are Not Your Kind’.
Corey Taylor and co’s new record – the follow-up to 2014’s ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ – features the track ‘Spiders’ and guitarist Jim Root has revealed how the song saw him play like Bowie’s band member Adrian Belew on his 1979 LP ‘Lodger’.
According to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, Jim said: “It’s my favourite song.
“I am a big fan of David Bowie, he was an exceptional artist so losing him really affected me.
“His last album, ‘Blackstar’, is an absolute masterpiece. Thinking about the way in which he turned his death into art it gives me chills.”
He added: “My guitar solo was inspired by Adrian Belew’s playing on David Bowie’s ‘Lodger’.”
Frontman Corey compared the process of making ‘Spiders’ to “seasoning a stew”:
In an interview with loudwire.com, Corey said: “The first song that made me feel like we were doing something different again was ‘Spiders.’
“The core of it was recorded and then we kept adding elements to it.
“We had all these songs around it that we were tracking and finishing, but we were constantly still looking for the key to ‘Spiders.’
“We were looking for the moments to add to it.
“It was almost like seasoning a stew.
“Too much and it doesn’t work, just the right amount and it’s damn near perfect.”
As well as ‘Spiders’, the track ‘A Liar’s Funeral’ takes direct influence from the late ‘Starman’ hitmaker
Corey said: “When you’re going, go all the way. Basically, that was the approach we wanted to take for the whole album.
“For me, we had to have all these different kinds of elements that knit everything together.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Serge Pizzorno’s new shorter hair is “symbolic of a new start”.
The Kasabian star has just launched his solo career with his new side project The S.L.P. and he says he had his signature long shaggy glam rock locks chopped to signal his new direction.
He said: “It’s new hair as I felt it was symbolic of a new start.”
Although Serge is grateful he gets to experiment on his own, he is still very much committed to Kasabian – who have just confirmed they are working on album seven – and has described The S.L.P. as “another planet” he gets to dip into from time to time.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I am in my band and I love my band. The best way to describe it is, it’s like another planet I can now visit whenever I want. It’s this planet that orbits and I can go there for a bit.”
Asked what his bandmates – Tom Meighan, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews – thought of him going solo, Serge said: “I have to say they’ve been incredible. Tom says he loves it. There’s not been any weirdness at all.
“I love being in my band and making my own record has inspired me for more Kasabian and I’ve been working on music for the band already.
“They know I wasn’t sure The S.L.P. was even going to happen and they realise it makes sense for me to do something.”
The ‘Favourites’ musician says that Kasabian have stuck together through plenty of “highs and lows” over the years, and vowed to “connect with as many people as possible” on their follow-up to 2017’s ‘For Crying Out Loud’.
He said: “As a band, we’ve had everything thrown at us.
“Like any relationship, we’ve had massive highs and lows but we are happy together.
“Stepping away from Kasabian makes me appreciate the enormity of it and the power of our live show.
“The S.L.P. is a new start for me, which means a new chapter for Kasabian too.
“Kasabian is all about connection and when we return we will connect with as many people as possible.
“I will just have another outlet for extra music I fancy making.”
Serge releases his debut solo album ‘The S.L.P.’ on August 30.

OHMYGOSSIP — Willie Nelson has updated fans to let them know he is on the mend after he rescheduled his tour.
The 86-year-old country legend was forced to postpone 30 dates on his ‘Club Luck Tour’, which was due to run right up until November 29 at the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma, as he sought medical assistance for an on-going breathing problem.
The ‘On The Road Again’ hitmaker – who has been touring with Alison Krauss – tweeted earlier this week: “To my fans,
“I’m sorry to cancel my tour, but I have a breathing problem that I need to have my doctor check out.
“I’ll be back
“Love, Willie (sic)”
However, he has now announced new dates starting on September 6 in Gilford, New Hampshire, as he is “feeling better”.
A message on his Facebook page reads: “Update: Willie is resting and feeling better. The tour will resume on September 6 in Gilford, NH. Thanks to all the fans for the continued support!”
Willie has suffered with ill-health in recent years, with the singer being forced to cancel several concerts in January 2018 due to difficulty with breathing.
The ‘Always On My Mind’ hitmaker reportedly rushed off stage after appearing to struggle with his breathing and having a coughing fit whilst midway through his show at the Harrah’s Resort SoCal casino, in San Diego, last year.
His 30-year-old son Lukas Autry Nelson later issued a statement updating fans on his father’s condition.
He wrote: “Apologies all, Dad has the flu so we cancelled this week’s gigs in Cali and Vegas.
“If you have tickets, please contact the venue for a refund and we hope to see you on the road again soon (sic)”
And in 2017, he was forced to axe his Salt Lake City show due to suffering with respiratory issues, caused by the altitude.
He said: “This is Willie. I am very sorry to have to cut the Salt Lake City performance short tonight. The altitude just got to me. I am feeling a lot better now and headed for lower ground.”
And earlier that year, the ‘Whiskey River’ star missed out on a number of concerts due to illness.

OHMYGOSSIP — Foo Fighters want fans to make requests for their Reading & Leeds festival setlist.
The ‘Best of You’ hitmakers will headline both events – which take place over the same weekend on August 23-25 – later this month and they have called out for their passionate audience to have their say when it comes to what songs the rockers will play.
Taking to Twitter, the band simply said: “So what songs do you wanna hear? #RandL19”
Foo Fighters – made up of Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Schiflett, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee – top a stacked main stage lineup at the event, with A Day To Remember, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Enter Shikari, Mayday Parade and The Distillers amongst the big names confirmed for the same day.
The 1975, Post Malone and Twenty One Pilots will also headline the iconic event, with the likes of Royal Blood, Charli XCX and Bastille playing over the weekend.
Meanwhile, guitarist Chris recently opened about the band’s enduring success, and he thinks frontman Dave is a huge part of their appeal.
He said: “I don’t know that it’s any specific one thing, but I think you have to credit a lot of it to Dave and his personality. People love that dude.
“I think he represents something to a lot of people out there. He has that gift that means he can make 80,000 people feel like they’re his best friend.
“He has that kind of magic, that x-factor thing. I don’t know how you define that, or explain that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Slipknot want to bring Knotfest to the UK.
The ‘Psychosocial’ metal icons are currently touring their festival across the US in support of their new album ‘We Are Not Your Kind’, and percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan revealed while the band are keen they don’t want to rush and “mess things up”.
He told NME: “Yeah, absolutely. Right time, right place. It definitely will happen but it has to be the right thing.
“Right now we do a lot of festivals with a lot of great people and you’ve got to find a time and a zone and it’s got to be right. We don’t like to go and mess things up; it’s not about that.”
Shawn explained while the band is still playing a lot in Europe, it doesn’t make sense to tour the festival just yet.
However, he promised it will happen one day, once they can work with their team to figure out the details.
He added: “It’s about being righteous and pure and it being what it is. Like, now, we do a lot of things in Europe, so it’s got to be the right time and the right promoter but it’s all in the works and it’s going to happen. It’ll all happen.”
‘We Are Not Your Kind’ – the group’s sixth record and their first LP since ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ in 2014 – was released today (09.08.19) and frontman Corey Taylor previously said it contains the “darkest writing” he has done in six years.
He explained: “It’s very dark. It’s some of the darkest writing I’ve done in years.
“In the Slipknot index, this album would sit somewhere between [2001 second album] ‘Iowa’ and [2004 third album] ‘Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)’.
“Lyrically, it has the force of ‘Iowa’, but musically it has the heaviness but the experimentation as well. It was very important for us to go somewhere crazy and make something insane.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Luck teamed up with Gibson guitars to host the first ever online festival.
The UK Americana duo – made up of siblings Max and Esmay Luck – have been building up a loyal following on international streaming site Twitch over the past two years, and on August 1, they hosted the very first online festival in order to give back to the fans who have supported them on the site.
The pair teamed up with legendary guitar company Gibson guitars, who hosted the Twitch community event – named The Luck and Friends – at their London HQ, and as well as the country band, the festival saw performances from their friends around the globe.
Max said of the event: “In our genre of music it can be hard to build a following these days without endless touring, and endless touring really needs the support of a major label!
“Twitch has been an amazing way for us to connect with new fans all over the world and share a live, real-time conversation with viewers during performances, laugh at in-jokes, really be ourselves and give people an insight into how we are behind-the-scenes.
“It felt like this is what the world could use in this digital age; a hang out where people are nice to each other and can just stop by for a bit of live music and a chat.”
The Luck and Friends festival – which also worked in partnership with CountryLineTV to help connect country music fans with fresh country artists – garnered a total of over 550,000 unique visitors over the course of the evening, with the peak reaching 15,000 at one time, which is enough to fill London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Later this year, The Luck are heading out on tour to support Wildwood Kin, where they are set to wow crowds with tracks from their brand new album ‘Ready To Run’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Mabel’s parents encouraged her to turn her “dark thoughts” into “art”.
The 23-year-old singer – who is the daughter of singer Neneh Cherry and producer Cameron McVey – was gripped by depression and anxiety for “pretty much the whole” of her teenage years and her mum and dad were supportive when her problems led to her dropping out of school.
She said: “I had very big questions about war and death from a very young age.
“They were like, ‘It’s cool, you feel more, you need to express yourself and be vocal.’
“I had dark thoughts but they were like, ‘Here’s a piano, make some art.’ ”
The ‘Fine Line’ singer still suffers from anxiety but has been able to “piece” herself back together while making her new album ‘High Expectations’.
She said “It still comes out to play sometimes, you have this voice when you’re depressed sometimes, you have this voice when you’re depressed saying, ‘You can’t do this, you’re not good enough for that one person.’
“I make sense of things through writing. It was like building blocks and by the time I finished the album, I was a whole new person in terms of my confidence.
“I realised that I’m OK with the good stuff and the bad stuff – I f**k with it.”
And Mabel’s song, ‘Okay Anxiety Anthem’ – which she wrote while feeling “really low”- has “genuinely changed” the way she feels about her struggles.
She told Grazia magazine: “It became this really positive way of looking at anxiety. I used to be ashamed. I didn’t know how to explain it to people. But I’m not embarrassed, it’s an important part of who I am.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Ray Cyrus didn’t know what a Fendi sports bra was before ‘Old Town Road’.
The 57-year-old singer offered to work on a remix of the track with rapper Lil Nas X after Billboard ruled it ineligible for the Hot Country Songs chart for not fitting the genre and songwriter Jozzy – who worked on the remix with Billy – has revealed that the star had no idea what some of the lyrics meant.
Jozzy told Variety: “Well it was one of those things where I didn’t want him to talk about anything country. It was like, ‘Bro, no moonshine, no cigarettes, no red cup in hand… since Lil Nas X is stepping into your world, step into his world’. So Fendi sports bras, Maserati sports cars, ‘hat down cross town living like a rockstar’.
“Billy was lit, I’m telling you. His wife, Tish, was such a supporter. She was, like, ‘Bae, you gotta say that’. He didn’t know what a Fendi sports bra was. Then I said, ‘Your wife has one’ She’s, like, ‘Yeah I got one!’ I was, like, ‘Bro, just say it’.
However, Jozzy has admitted that she only knew Billy from ‘Hannah Montana’ before working on the song together.
Jozzy said: “‘Hannah Montana’, of course. My momma used to think he was hot as **k. She loved him, that’s all I really knew. … That’s why I was more open to do it, because it was, like, ‘This is for my momma’.”
The song has gone on to huge success and Billy recently called it a “movement”.
Explaining how he got involved, he told the New York Post: When I saw [the song got disqualified], I wrote to Lil Nas on Twitter, and I said, ‘Waylon Jennings told me, What is the definition of an outlaw? One who has been outlawed. Welcome to the club’. But music fans were smart enough to see through that, and they said, ‘We don’t need nobody to tell us what we like’. Like Lil Nas says, ‘Can’t nobody tell me nothin’. This song became the power of the people. It feels more like a movement.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian Wilson has paid tribute to his long-time guitarist Nicky Wonder after he died aged 59.
The Beach Boys star is in a “state of shock” after the Wondermits co-founder, who was part of Brian’s touring band since 1999 and played guitar on his albums ‘Gettin’ In Over My Head’ and ‘Brian Wilson Presents Smile’, passed away in his sleep.
He wrote on his official website: “Today is a sad sad day.
It is with my deepest regret to tell you that our beloved Nicky Wonder passed away last night in his sleep.
We are in a state of shock as you can imagine.
But we are going to honor him with tonights show. (sic)”
Brian praised “friendly” Nicky – whose real name was Nick Walusko – and admitted he will miss the guitarist “beyond words”.
He added: “Nicky was my favorite guitar player ever. I always loved the way he used his fingers. He was a real Rock and Roll guy and great singer too.
He was a friendly and very nice person and he was really really funny. He had the best sense of humor.
We are all crying today, he will be missed beyond words.
Our hearts go out to his wife Susan and his entire family, friends and fans.
We love you Nicky. Love & Mercy
Brian Wilson (sic)”
Nicky formed Wondermits with keyboard player Darian Sahanaja in 1992 and the group released five albums, but they haven’t dropped a record since 2009’s ‘Kaleidoscopin’: Exploring Prisms of the Past’.
Wondermits signed up to be part of Brian’s touring band in 1999, and Nicky and his fellow band member Probyn Gregory played with Brian continuously afterwards.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Buckley’s back catalogue is hitting streaming services for the 25th anniversary of ‘Grace’.
Columbia/Legacy are digitally releasing more than 50 songs on August 23, the release date of the seminal 1994 LP, which features the late music legend’s acclaimed version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’.
Among the rarities is the long-awaited official release of ‘Sky Blue Skin’, one of the last demos recorded by Jeff at his final studio session in 1996.
As well as expanded releases of the LPs ‘Grace’ (Legacy Edition), 1998’s ‘Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk’ and 2000’s ‘Mystery White Boy’.
Plus complete live recordings from Live At Wetlands, New York, NY 8/16/94, Live From Seattle, WA, May 7, 1995, Cabaret Metro, Chicago, IL, May 13, 1995, and Live at Columbia Records Radio Hour for the very first time.
Jeff’s mother, Mary Guibert, hopes unleashing her son’s vault will bring his music to generations to come.
She said: “The music industry has made a couple of sea changes since Jeff departed the planet.
“I don’t know if he foresaw even a glimpse of the current state of affairs.
“Since all we have of his true remains is what’s in “the vault”, I’m thrilled that we can finally fling open the doors of that vault and make as much as possible available to Jeff’s fans: the old ones and the new ones, and the ones who have not yet been born.”
Fans will also be able to get their hands on a limited edition gold vinyl version of ‘Grace’, being sold at select stores across the UK, as well as brand new merchandise.
Jeff tragically died after drowning in the Mississippi River in Memphis in May 1997, aged just 30.

On the 25th anniversary of the record’s hit single ‘Live Forever’ (08.08.19), it has been announced that material will be released by Big Brother Recordings, with fans able to follow the special activity via the hashtag #DefMaybe25 and by visiting www.oasisnet.com.
The silver anniversary of ‘Definitely Maybe’ – which features the hit singles ‘Supersonic’ and ‘Shakermaker’ – will also see the release of two special vinyls, a limited edition collector’s picture disc and a silver coloured LP available from August 30.
‘Definitely Maybe’ is regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time, and the band’s former frontman Liam Gallagher opens his solo show with lead single ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’ and also rotates their debut single ‘Supersonic’, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ and more fan-favourites into his live sets.
Liam’s brother and ex-bandmate Noel Gallagher – who he has been locked in a feud with ever since a backstage fight between the pair at their concert in Paris in 2009, which resulted in the demise of the ‘Some Might Say’ group – previously said of ‘Definitely Maybe’ upon its release: “In 20 years’ time, people will buy ‘Definitely Maybe’ and listen to it for what it was. That’s what is important.”
Liam, 46, had hinted earlier this year that he might mark the anniversary of ‘Definitely Maybe’ with a special gig.
The ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker’s 52-year-old sibling has repeatedly insisted he has no intentions of getting back with the group, but the singer is open to commemorating the milestone with other members, including rhythm guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs – who frequently joins Liam on stage at his solo gigs – and original bassist Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan.
Asked if he’ll mark the anniversary of the band’s debut album, he said: “Who knows? I love having Bonehead around, he’s a good craic, but as for having him in full-time, f**k that, I couldn’t handle it and vice versa.
“Been there, done that. I’ve not heard from Guigsy for a long time, I hear he’s still in London.”
Drummer Tony McCarroll – who left the group in 1995 – only featured on ‘Definitely Maybe’, and despite taking the band to court, he would jump at the chance to play with his old bandmates again.
The musician sued the band in 1999 and ultimately agreed an out-of-court settlement of over £500,000 that also saw him give up all future royalties.
Asked if he’d like to see the ‘Roll With It’ hitmakers get back together, he recently said: “I would love that. If I got the phone call, that would be a nice way to round things off. End it where it started.
“That wall of sound we had with me, Guigsy and Bonehead, that power, it was all there.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Marr has released new song ‘The Bright Parade’ about “vacuous modern day reality stars”.
The former Smiths star will play Nile Rodgers’ Meltdown festival at The Royal Festival Hall in London tonight (08.08.19), and just in time for the headline performance, he has surprised fans with the new track.
The psychedelic number follows recent single ‘Armatopia’, Marr’s first music since acclaimed 2018 LP ‘Call The Comet’.
On how shows like ‘Love Island’ inspired the track, Marr explained: “I think this track is more of a story.
“‘Armatopia’ was this kind of eco-disco and I didn’t want to hide that, but ‘The Bright Parade’ is more of a psychedelic musical track.
“Maybe I’ve been quite preoccupied with the cosmos over the last couple of years but it’s the perfect metaphor for the star system – whether that’s a rock star or a movie star or a reality TV star.
“I think half my mind was still in the cosmos and the other half was around these vacuous modern day reality stars.
“”The Bright Parade’ puts the two together and puts it on top of a psychedelic backing track.
“But everything I’m doing as a musician and a creative person is some kind of reaction to what’s going on in the world, if only as a way to escape.
“The act of getting in a studio and recording and making music with a band does feel a necessary escape from what’s going on.”
The 55-year-old rocker says he plans to release more singles before working on a new record and admitted he likes releasing tracks when he wants to “surprise” fans.
In an interview with DIY.com, he added: “It feels like there’s a new way of doing things, [with artists] putting out standalone tracks, but in a way you can compare it to the early ’80s when you could just put singles out. Some of The Smiths’ better known songs were often not on LPs, they were just tracks we put out in between, so I’m used to that and I know the benefit of that.
“I’m quite happy about that development in the way people consume music; I don’t feel like I’m hankering after anything from the old days.
“So that’s where I’m at at the moment, and I might put a couple more out before doing another record.
“I deliberately wanted to write something different after ‘Armatopia’ that was quite accessible and that’s something where, if you’re brave enough in this culture of just putting songs out, then you can go anywhere you want.
“If you’re obsessed with getting on the radio then that’s up to you, but I like surprising people with releases.
“I have absolutely no idea what I’m gonna do next.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Boardmasters 2019 has been cancelled due to “severe weather conditions”.
The music festival was due to get underway on Wednesday (07.08.19) but organisers have stopped this year’s event – which was to be headlined by Florence + the Machine, Foals, and Wu-Tang Clan – from going ahead because of forecasted conditions, “specifically high winds”, due to hit Cornwall, south west England.
They said in a statement: “Due to forecasted severe weather conditions, specifically high winds, Boardmasters 2019 has been cancelled.
“Following full consultation with all of the relevant authorities including independent safety advisors, Devon and Cornwall Police, emergency services and the Met Office, a final decision was made this evening.
“The safety of you, the fans and attendees, as well as performers and crew comes first, and the potential risk is too severe for the event to go ahead at this time.
“Refund advice will be shared as soon as possible – please follow Boardmasters’ social media for official updates.
“We sincerely regret the disappointment to fans, and apologise for any disruption caused to local businesses, performers and crew who were looking forward to Boardmasters as much as we were.”
Among others, Razorlight, Dizzee Rascal, Jorja Smith, The Wombats, Rudimental and Plan B were all also due to play at the spectacle, which was to take place at Cornwall’s picturesque Watergate Bay.
The decision comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for several parts of England for Friday to Saturday.
Heavy rain followed by heavy showers or thunderstorms are expected in numerous areas.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande joined Barbra Streisand on stage for a surprise duet on Tuesday night (06.08.19).
The pair performed a rendition of the 77-year-old music legend’s disco anthem ‘No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)’, which she recorded with Donna Summer in 1999, at Barbra’s concert at Chicago’s United Center.
The secret appearance had been teased by the ‘Woman in Love’ hitmaker the day before, when she posted a picture of the pair getting a manicure together.
She simply captioned the post: “Made a new friend.”
And ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ hitmaker Ariana posted a black heart emoji underneath the snap.
After the show, Barbra shared a selfie with the pop superstar – who was clutching a water bottle – with the song sheet in her hand.
She wrote: “Secret’s out. Thank you @arianagrande.”
And once again in the comments under the Instagram post, Ariana gushed about how their performance together was “the most special and cherished experience ever”.
She wrote: “i’m sobbing love you so much. i cant. get over this. it’s just…. the most special and cherished experience ever. thank you. (sic)”
‘Meet The Fockers’ star Barbra has been surprising fans with surprise duets all summer.
During her headline set at London’s Hyde Park last month, the Hollywood legend was joined by Kris Kristofferson for the first ever live performance of their ‘A Star Is Born’ duet ‘Lost Inside of You’, over four decades after she and the ‘Me and Bobby McGee’ singer, 83, starred in the 1976 version of the musical drama, which was adapted last year with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in the leading roles.
If that wasn’t enough of a treat for fans, Barbra – who drew in a star-studded crowd including A-listers Antonio Banderas, Richard E. Grant and Ralph Fiennes – brought out special guest Lionel Richie for the live debut of ‘The Way We Were’, which they recorded for her 2014 duets LP ‘Partners’.
The ‘All Night Long’ hitmaker – who had performed with Stevie Wonder the night before at British Summer Time Hyde Park – admitted it was a mission to sneak into the festival and keep the secret appearance under wraps and that he was ticking off one his biggest dreams by getting to perform with Barbra.
