OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Turner says his new album ‘No Man’s Land’ is going to “save his social life”.
The 37-year-old singer-songwriter released his eighth studio album on Friday (16.08.19), and the star has hailed the project – which tells the stories of ten women that have been somewhat overlooked in the history books – revealing the record has helped him delve into his love of “interesting stories” without boring his friends.
He said: “In a way, the record is my way of saving my social life.
“I’m the kind of person who, if I’ve read an interesting story in a history book, wants to tell people all about it. The result of this is that I can see my friends seeking out the exits even as I speak.”
In Frank’s album, he tells the stories of murdered dance hall performer Dora Hand, the wife of William Blake, Catherine, the American rock’n’roll pioneer Sister Rosetta Tharpe and his beloved mother Rosemary Jane.
To accompany ‘No Man’s Land’, Frank also curated a series of half-hour podcasts, named ‘Tales From No Man’s Land’, to accompany each song and give more insight into each story so his fans can learn as they listen.
He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I seriously doubt whether more than one per cent of my listenership has ever heard of any of these people, so it serves a purpose. And I’m approaching this as a student rather than a teacher. I didn’t know about them either.”
The ‘Get Better’ hitmaker went on to admit he loves being on tour because you are always performing to a new crowd, which can be “redemptive”.
He added: “Philosophically, the highest praise I can give to a life of touring is that it offers a daily chance for redemption and restatement of one’s case. The point being that if you have a bad show, there’s always tomorrow.
“You leave and you play to a new group of people in a new town and any of your mistakes or successes, such as they might be, get left behind. You get to wipe the slate clean and try again. There’s something redemptive about that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig David hopes to one day collaborate with Justin Bieber.
The 38-year-old singer – who is one of the UK’s best-selling artists – has revealed he wants to join forces with the chart-topping pop star, having previously performed together on stage in Los Angeles.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday newspaper, Craig explained: “A collaboration would be wicked. I think we could write something and there’d be a nice story running behind it.”
Craig is poised to release his new single, ‘Do You Miss Me Much’, later this month.
And he recently revealed that the track is a nod to the UK garage sound that made him famous in the 90s and early 2000s.
Discussing his new single, Craig shared: “It’s always been close to my heart, has garage music, but there were periods of time when it wasn’t right to use that sound.
“It’s important that it wasn’t just seen as a throwback. Now I’m seeing DJs, particularly when I do my Ibiza Rocks residency, playing garage records and seeing a young crowd relating to it, new stuff by newer, younger artists.
“I’d been working on this tune and felt like I wanted to drop it like it’s yesterday and now I think people are ready – it feels current and it has nostalgia in the lyrics.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Urban has taken to Twitter to express his admiration of Taylor Swift.
The 51-year-old singer heaped praise on the blonde beauty following the release of her latest single, ‘Lover’, saying it’s “exquisitely written”.
He wrote on the micro-blogging website: “Huge shoutout today to @taylorswift13 on the SUPERB new single LOVER. When a song so exquisitely written becomes a record so gorgeously crafted I feel such a deep sense of gratitude for the “art” of making music. – KU (sic)”
Taylor, 29, was predictably thrilled by Keith’s comments, admitting it was “so kind” of him to praise her on Twitter.
She wrote in response: “ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS IS THE NICEST THING ANYONE HAS EVER SAID – you’re just the best and so kind to say this (sic)”
Meanwhile, Taylor previously revealed that her next album will feature 18 songs, explaining that it will be “a love letter to love”.
The singer – whose previous album, ‘Reputation’, was released in November 2017 – said: “I was compiling ideas for a very long time. When I started writing, I couldn’t stop.
“There are so many ways in which this album feels like a new beginning. This album is really a love letter to love, in all of its maddening, passionate, exciting, enchanting, horrific, tragic, wonderful glory.”

OHMYGOSSIP — French Montana thinks he and Drake are like “brothers in a past life”.
The 34-year-old rap star and Drake, 32, are long-time friends, and Montana admits that the sincerity of their relationship is hard to find in the music business.
He told Haute Living magazine: “You don’t meet a lot of real friends in the game, so when you meet somebody where the relationship is real, you need to capture that feeling and keep that relationship as solid as you can because you don’t find a lot of people like that.
“Out of a 1,000 people, you might meet 10 that are really organic with you and show you genuine love. That’s me and Drake.
“We had the same mother and father – we are brothers in a past life.”
According to Montana, it’s rare that he and Drake ever talk about their respective music projects.
The rapper – who previously dated reality TV star Khloe Kardashian – shared: “When we get together, we usually don’t talk about work because we’re friends.
“If he likes something, he’ll tell me. Usually, people are around you to benefit somehow, or take something from you, but I feel like artists need to get away from that and need peace of mind.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Young and Crazy Horse will release the first single from their new album later this month.
The 73-year-old singer and his band will drop a new album, ‘COLORADO’ – their first joint effort since 2012’s ‘Psychedelic Pill’ – in October, and he has now announced their new single ‘Rainbow of Colors’ will be out in the coming days.
In a post on his official website, he wrote: “We are excited here at NYA!
The first track from COLORADO, our next Crazy Horse album, is coming out this month. Billy, Ralphie, Nils and I are all very happy to bring this song ‘Rainbow of Colors’ to you in all its ragged glory, as my original producer and life-long friend, the late David Briggs once said. (sic)”
Neil revealed the new album will feature 10 new songs which range from “around three minutes to over 13 minutes”, and he has also made a documentary about the making of the record.
He added: “10 new songs ranging from around 3 minutes to over 13 minutes, will be coming your way. We hope you love this new album as much as we do.
I have been continuing our work on `Mountaintop Sessions’, the documentary film about the making of COLORADO. It is a wild one folks, no holds barred.
“You will see the whole process just as it went down! Worts and all! I don’t think a film about this subject with the openness and intensity we have captured has ever been seen.
“You can be the judge of that, because Shakey Pictures’ `Mountaintop Sessions’ masterfully shot by cinematographer C.K. Vollick, will be released in over mo theaters world-wide the week our album COLORADO debuts, in October.
“Made for you in double Vinyl, (three sides plus a 7″ exclusive two-sided single not on the album) will be released, along with CD and streaming versions of COLORADO. (sic)”
The news comes just a month after Neil duetted with Bob Dylan for the first time in 25 years at Ireland’s Nowlan Park in Kilkenny.
The music legends teamed up for their own interpretation of the traditional hymn ‘Will The Circle Be Unbroken’, which dates back to 1935.
The pair last performed together at New York’s Roseland Ballroom in 1994.

The 29-year-old singer’s collaborator Jack Antonoff has revealed the pop star had a huge hand in the new song.
He wrote on Twitter: “did this one entirely at electric lady in NYC. only laura sisk and taylor in the room. taylor wrote every stitch of this song and came in and played it for me – just a perfect moment to hear what she had done alone the night before … when someone brings in a song that speaks so much just on a piano it’s rare to imagine production around. but then we started playing with space echo reverb on a snare hit really hard with a brush … from there the “paul” bass happened and the washy piano. melotron in bride to sound like a dream sequence wedding. but the part i’m most proud of is her voice drowned in verb. cuts right through and sits all around you at the same time … worked that night for about 6 hours and besides the mix all the tracks and takes are from then. live drum, bass, acoustic, 12 string, upright piano and melotron. all going through copycat and space echo. big mess until it’s not (sic)”
Taylor is to release the video for ‘Lover’ next Thursday (22.08.19).
Speaking to fans in a video posted on social media, Taylor said: “Hey guys, so I’m going love on YouTube on August 22nd at 5pm EST. It’s going to be really fun, we’re going to talk all things ‘Lover’, the Stella McCartney line, I’m going to do a performance of a song I’ve never performed before and then we’re going to premiere the brand new music video for the song ‘Lover’. So join us, please.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Healy thinks The 1975 are banned from Dubai after he kissed a male fan at their show.
The ‘Love Me’ hitmaker made a stand for the LGBT community as he locked lips with a member of the audience at the band’s first concert in the United Arab Emirates at the Coca-Cola Arena on Tuesday (14.08.19), and later admitted they are unlikely to be allowed back to the country who have strict anti-LGBT laws.
He tweeted: “I don’t think we’ll be allowed back due to my ‘behaviour’ but know that I love you and I wouldn’t have done anything differently given the chance again.”
In a clip from the show shared on social media, Matt can be heard saying: “I love you bro. We’re all human, right?
“If you’re gay, I love you and God f***ing loves you.”
The 1975 aren’t the only musicians to protest anti-LGBT laws at their shows.
Just recently, Rammstein’s Paul Landers and Richard Kruspe shared a kiss on stage in Moscow to hit back at their homosexual stance.
The two guitarists of the German metal band exchanged a fleeting kiss while performing their 2019 song ‘Ausländer’ in the Russian capital, in a political move.
Passed in 2013, Russia’s “gay propaganda” law bans materials that would “[present] distorted ideas about the equal social value of traditional and non-traditional sexual relationships,” and has been condemned by the likes of Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.
The law essentially renders it illegal in Russia to express any kind of homosexuality and gender-non-conformity in public.
Following their concert at the Luzhniki Stadium, Rammstein took to Instagram to share several professional photos of the show, including one of Paul and Richard kissing.
They captioned the image: “Russia, we love you”, written in Russian.
It wasn’t the first time the ‘Ich Will’ hitmakers have shown their support for the LGBT community, as frontman Till Lindemann was seen waving a Pride flag while crowdsurfing in an inflatable boat during a show in Poland.
The move came after it emerged that LGBT people were met with violent scenes during Bialystok’s first Pride march on July 20.
Both instances were met with positive reactions from fans, one of which described them as a “power move” and another said it was “heart-warming to see”.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Jonas Brothers are set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
The ‘Cool’ hitmakers will perform from a secret location in New Jersey, for what will be their first VMAs performance together in 11 years.
The trio – comprised of siblings Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas – performed ‘Lovebug’ at the 2008 ceremony.
The pop group’s hit single ‘Sucker’ is also nominated for Best Video, Best Pop Video and Best Song, plus the group will battle it out with Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Lizzo and Shawn Mendes to be crowned Artist of the Year.
The Jonas Brothers join Camila Cabello, Lil Nas X, and Lizzo as this year’s performers.
The network has announced a diverse range of artists for the star-studded bash at the Prudential Center on August 26, with those confirmed to sing also including Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Rosalia and Shawn Mendes, as well as the previously-announced Taylor Swift.
The event will be the third year in a row that Shawn – who is nominated for five awards – has performed at the ceremony, having previously sung ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back’ in 2017 and ‘In My Blood’ last year.
His girlfriend Camila – who won two Moonmen last year and is up for four at the 2019 ceremony – will be making her VMAs performance debut, as will all of the other newly-announced artists.
Missy Elliott will perform at the ceremony for the first time in 16 years in honour of her receiving the Video Vanguard Award, while Taylor’s appearance will be her first televised performance since the release of her new album ‘Lover’, which hits shelves just three days before.
Katy Perry recently denied reports she is set to perform at the VMAs.
Speaking on an Instagram Stories Q&A with her fans, she said: “I am not performing on the VMAs, so not everything you read on the internet is true. Go figure. I personally think “www” stands for wild wild west … I always say if it doesn’t come from me, take it with a grain of Himalayan salt.”
And Miley Cyrus has also confirmed she will not be performing at the spectacle.
A fan wrote on Instagram: “Guess I’m not watching the VMAS this year… unless Miley performs.”
She replied: “No f***in way.(sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Grohl “didn’t expect” Foo Fighters to “pick up where Nirvana left off”.
The 50-year-old rocker has admitted he was against joining another band as drummer after the death of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain – who took his own life in 1994, aged just 27 – as he didn’t want to be reminded of the grunge band and also didn’t see himself becoming a frontman either.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “I never imagined I would be the singer of a band.
“After Nirvana ended, I didn’t wanna play music.
“I sure as f*** didn’t wanna go be someone’s drummer.
“I knew that it would remind me of Nirvana. I’m very proud. Nirvana changed my life for ever but there were times when I wanted to escape it.”
The ‘Learn to Fly’ hitmaker – who also drummed in Queens of the Stone Age between 2001 and 2002 – admitted that it was painful even listening to music let alone playing it, until one day he found being in the studio reinvigorating.
He continued: “Just picking up an instrument or turning on a radio made me so sad.
“Then I realised that doing the thing I’d always done – go to a basement, record by myself – might restart my heart.”
Grohl also recalled being kissed by Kurt when he showed him Foo Fighters’ track ‘Alone + Easy Target’, which he wrote in 1992 after Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ tour, and admitted it was the first time he’d ever really felt “validated” by his bandmates.
He recalled: “He [Kurt] was having a bubble bath.
“I went back in and he kissed me! That might have been the only time I ever felt validated by the band.”
On not expecting Foo Fighters to be as big as the ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ hitmakers, Grohl added: “I didn’t imagine I was gonna pick up where Nirvana left off.
“I didn’t imagine myself to be Freddie Mercury.
“I made 100 cassettes and handed them to friends.
“I called it Foo Fighters because I didn’t want people to think I was trying to be Tom Petty.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mahalia is inspired by Arctic Monkeys’ frontman Alex Turner.
The rising Neo soul star, who lives in Birmingham but is from Leicester, has revealed the unlikely influence in the Sheffield-born singer and his pronunciation of words, particularly on the track ‘Mardy Bum’.
In an interview with The Times newspaper, Mahalia said: “It was the way he said words.
“I loved ‘Mardy Bum’ because I would say ‘mardy’ rather than ‘moody’ when I went to school in Birmingham and nobody could understand me.”
The ‘Simmer’ singer releases her debut album, ‘Love and Compromise’ on September 6, and says she wanted to make songs that are suitable for impressionable teenagers as she feels strongly that artists have a responsibility to their audience.
She explained: “I’m trying to put out songs that I’d be happy for my baby cousin to hear.
“I’m not naive to the fact that girls of 15 know a lot more than their parents think they do, but I want to get a good message out to that lot because at their age songs can have a massive impact.
“India Arie had one called ‘I Am Not My Hair,’ which meant so much to me because I lived in a predominantly white area and I was always confused about how my hair looked.
“If you decide to do this, you should accept that you have a duty to your audience.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has released gospel-tinged single ‘One Of Us’ featuring his son Gene on bongos and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner on guitar.
The former Oasis star has followed up ‘Shockwave’, ‘Once’ and ‘The River’ with the new track from his upcoming second solo album ‘Why Me? Why Not.’
Liam says the song is about “family, friendship and belonging”, and compared the sound to The Sweet Inspirations, the R&B group founded by Emily ‘Cissy’ Houston, the mother of the late Whitney Houston.
He said: “‘One of Us’ is about family, friendship and a sense of belonging.
“I love the groove and the gospel outro. It reminds me of The Sweet Inspirations.”
Although Liam hasn’t publicly stated it, fans will no doubt suspect some of the lyrics are to do with Liam’s estranged brother and former bandmate, Noel Gallagher – who he has been at loggerheads with since a backstage bust-up between the pair at their final concert as Oasis in Paris in 2009, which led to the demise of the ‘Some Might Say’ group.
He sings: “Hey kid did you know, today sixteen years ago, it was you and I for the last time?.”
And the track also pays homage to the ‘Wall Of Glass’ hitmaker’s favourite Oasis track ‘Live Forever’.
Over strings, he belts out: “Act like you don’t remember, you said we’d live forever, who do you think you’re kidding? You are only one of us, in time.”
‘Why Me? Why Not.’ is released on September 20 and will be followed by a November UK arena tour.
The run kicks off at Cardiff Motorpoint Arena on November 11 and wraps with two shows at London’s The O2 arena on November 28 and November 29, and will see Liam supported by rapper-of-the-moment Slowthai.
Meanwhile, Liam and former wife Nicole Appleton’s 18-year-old son Gene’s contribution to ‘One Of Us’ comes after the ‘For What It’s Worth’ hitmaker revealed he and his brother Lennon, 19 – Liam’s son with Patsy Kensit – are both keen musicians and could come together to form a band.
The 46-year-old rocker – who also has daughter Molly Moorish-Gallagher, 21, with Lisa Moorish, and six-year-old Gemma with Liza Ghorbani – said: “They’re both eyeing each other up…from across the room. Gene has got a little band and Lennon has got a little band, they’re sort of working it out.
“They’re both playing guitar, I’ve not heard them sing yet, so that’ll be a surprise when they open their mouths and let me have it.”
However, Liam admitted that Gene and Lennon have very different musical styles.
He explained: “Lennon’s music is a bit more spaced out, like early Verve, pretty chilled.
“Whereas Gene is more like in your face, Arctic Monkeys style. Go for it I say.”
But he believes that their differences could lead to a great balance.
He said: “Yeah, I definitely see myself in them. Gene has got a chip on his shoulder, Lennon is a bit more chilled, so it’s equally balanced.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Natasha Bedingfield was “worried” about returning to work after having her son.
The 37-year-old singer – who has 18-month-old Solomon with husband Matt Robinson – has been “pleasantly surprised” now she’s begun making her musical comeback but knows she’s lucky as her career is so flexible.
Writing in Closer magazine, she explained: “I’ve been out of the limelight for nine years and am now back with my new album.
“I had my son Solomon 18 months ago and was worried about returning to the music industry as a working parent, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
“Luckily, I’m able to write my songs around caring for him and my work is flexible, but I appreciate it’s not always that easy for other working parents.”
But the ‘Unwritten’ hitmaker admitted parenthood has meant she’s had to change her songwriting habits.
She explained: “I’ve had to learn to write songs in the daytime. I prefer to write in the evenings, but I couldn’t when I first had my son. My whole album was written between midday and 6pm!”
Natasha thinks it’s important for women to return to work after having children to boost self-esteem.
She said: “Going back to work after kids is really valuable for your self-esteem.
“It’s important to get that alone time and remember what your dreams are outside of your child.
“I come from a long line of hard-working women and it’s definitely been eye-opening to realise how tough it is to have a child while also holding down a job – I’m in awe of any parent who manages both.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Snoop Dogg thinks he fills a “void” in the music industry.
The 47-year-old rap legend has just released a new album, ‘I Wanna Thank Me’, and Snoop believes it represents something unique for music fans across the world.
He explained: “It’s like I’m always filling a void.
“When I make music, I feel like it’s needed because there’s nothing like it that’s already out.”
The chart-topping icon also admitted his place in the landscape of rap music has changed over the years, conceding he’s not “that young, fly rapper no more”.
He explained to Billboard: “With this particular project, I was thinking to myself, ‘Where do I fit in the rap game?’ I ain’t that young, fly rapper no more. I’m like a great uncle to a lot of these rappers now.
“They’re sending me songs and trying to be a part of this too – so I’ve got to welcome that because they’re the future.
“They’re the ones who control the game right now. And for them to want to do records with me keeps me relevant, keeps me still in the realm when young kids hear my voice instead of ‘Who is that old-ass man rapping?! OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Grohl has teased possible new music from Them Crooked Vultures.
The 50-year-old artist – who was also part of Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Queens of the Stone Age – claims there is still possibility for new music as they are “still a band”.
Speaking to the Guardian newspaper, Dave said: “Technically we’re still a band.
“We practise once every decade, and we’re coming up on another decade, aren’t we? I don’t have any official news but there’s always something cooking.”
The songwriter and his band have been teasing new music since 2011 – but with nothing to play for their fans so far.
The rock supergroup – founded by Dave and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones – released their debut album in 2009 and haven’t released music since.
However, Dave still can’t get his head around the idea of forming a band with a iconic star
He said: “There are times when you’ve relaxed into a sofa and you’re not thinking about his time in Led Zeppelin. Then you start playing and you’re immediately reminded that you are a musical speck compared to this man.
“It’s still hard to accept that I got to play in a band with that guy.”
Josh Homme, the lead singer of both Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures, remains one of Dave’s best friends to this day.
The musical duo met during Nirvana’s peak years when Josh was in Kyuss.
Dave said: “Josh is one of my best friends. We’re like brothers. We go out and have waffles together. We ride motorcycles.
“There is nobody I’d rather play drums with. He’s the guy.”

The 26-year-old pop star – who is one of the world’s best-selling musicians – has taken to Twitter to express her gratitude for her singing abilities, revealing it makes her “heart feel better”.
She wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “i can’t express how free n full singing makes me feel. i’ve been feeling so anxious lately n it all kinda lifts off when i sing. i like … forgot. makes my heart feel better. i’m grateful for this gift or whateva. it’s comforting bc no one can take it away from me ever. Earlier this month, Ariana thanked her record label for showing faith in her.
The ‘7 Rings’ hitmaker went on Twitter to thank Republic Records, hailing the company for supporting her since she signed with the label eight years ago.

Missy Elliott will perform at the ceremony for the first time in 16 years in honour of her receiving the Video Vanguard Award, while Taylor’s appearance will be her first televised performance since the release of her new album ‘Lover’, which hits shelves just three days before.
However, Katy Perry recently denied reports she is set to perform at the VMAs.
Speaking on an Instagram Stories Q&A with her fans, she said: “I am not performing on the VMAs, so not everything you read on the internet is true. Go figure. I personally think “www” stands for wild wild west … I always say if it doesn’t come from me, take it with a grain of Himalayan salt.”
And Miley Cyrus has also denied she will be performing at the spectacle.
A fan wrote on Instagram: “Guess I’m not watching the VMAS this year… unless Miley performs.”
She replied: “No f***in way.(sic)”
