OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish was unable to collect her three MTV Video Music Awards as she was on her way to Russia.
The ‘Bad Guy’ hitmaker was a big winner on the night, nabbing the fan-voted Best New Artist, PUSH Artist of the Year and Editing prizes, beating the likes of Lizzo and H.E.R. to the first two accolades, and she admitted it broke her heart not to be there in person to accept her statuettes.
On winning the PUSH award, she said: “I just wanted to thank you guys so much for making me MTV’s PUSH artist of the year. Love you.”
And in another pre-recorded video message aired at the star-studded ceremony in New Jersey on Monday night (26.08.19) for Best New Artist, Billie explained: “Unfortunately I’m on tour right now, actually in Russia, so I cannot come, which breaks my heart.
“I want to thank my fans because you guys are the reason that anybody cares about me at all.
“So thank you, thank you thank you, I love you guys.”
Billie was travelling to Moscow where she will perform at the city’s Megasport Arena this evening (27.08.19).
Meanwhile, the 17-year-old pop phenomenon – who wowed crowds at Reading and Leeds festival in the UK at the weekend – recently spoke about how being “strong-willed” has helped her to avoid being “used and manipulated” in the music industry.
The ‘Bury a Friend’ singer opened up about her first meeting with music management when she was just 13 years old, and recalled people saying she is “going to be used” in the industry and look at her as if to say she was going to have a “horrible career”.
She said: “There has been a whole world of young, especially female artists, and every artist (not just young) being used and manipulated by the stereotypical label or industry.
“There’s kind of this weird name on everything now where it’s like, people expect that.
“I remember the first time I had any sort of meeting with a label or management, I was 13. I think the only people that didn’t look at me like I was going to have a horrible career were the people that I ended up working with. Everyone was just like, ‘Oh, you’re 13, yikes, you’re going to be used,’ and this and that.
“And I am like, ‘Yo, y’all are the people that would use me in the situation you are talking about.’ So, I don’t know what that is supposed to mean. The only people who didn’t say that s**t were the people that I felt an energy and connection with.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex James is the latest musician to produce his own alcoholic beverage.
The Blur star-and-farmer – who also sells award-winning cheese – has created his own Apple flavoured brandy, which he has named Britannia, and warned it’s “going to cause utter carnage” as it’s 70 per cent proof.
According to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, the 50-year-old Britpop legend – who launched his new tipple at his Big Feastival extravaganza on his farm in the Cotswolds – said: “The only ingredient is apples, so it’s incredibly pure.
“I’ve called that Britannia.
“I think it’s going to cause utter carnage.”
This year, the annual event saw the likes of Jess Glynne, Elbow and Rudimental headline, between August 23 and 25.
Other performers included Lewis Capaldi, The Zutons, Nina Nesbitt, Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Jade Bird.
Meanwhile, the likes of ‘The Great British Bake-Off’ star Prue Leith was amongst those leading the charge for the food and drink part of the event.
Host Alex said: “This is our eighth year and our best line up to date. Feastival continues to expand, evolve and get better every summer and we’ve got more new tricks, surprises and festival firsts up our sleeves for this August.

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadine Shah has been announced as the first-ever female host of the Q Awards.
The 33-year-old Geordie singer/songwriter – who was nominated for the Q Breakthrough Act presented by Red Stripe prize last year – has admitted it is a “huge honour” to be the first woman to present the annual awards show, which takes place at Camden’s Roundhouse in London on October 16, after impressing the team with her guest presenting job last year.
She said: “It’s a huge honour to be presenting the Q Awards this year, especially as their first ever female presenter. Have they even had a Geordie do it before?
“I attended the event last year and it’s like no other award show, everywhere you’d turn would be a musician you hold high regard for.
“There was a real feeling of solidarity, a mutual respect and celebration between all musicians present.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what the Q team have up their sleeve this year. They’ve already raised the bar by hiring me!”
The 2018 ceremony was hosted by comedian Mo Gilligan, and although the music publication’s editor Ted Kessler thought he did a “great job”, he felt it was time to handover the hosting duties to a “charismatic musical titan to marshal her peers”.
He said: “Rarely can an absolute outsider have become a closed-book favourite for any role quicker, but once Nadine Shah had charmed all-comers as a guest presenter at last year’s Q Awards, we felt certain she was who we wanted to present the whole caboodle in 2019.
“I am an old man who has been to many award ceremonies over the centuries. In that time, I have heard the same jokes told by the same comedians and radio jocks on a conveyor belt at each bash.
“Mo Gilligan did a great, deadpan job in breaking that routine at last year’s Q Awards.
“But we wondered if we could go one step further and hand the reins over to a respected, charismatic musical titan to marshal her peers instead of a professional presenter.
“After all, we’re celebrating music. Over to Nadine.”
The line-up and the all important shortlist for the Q Awards will be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, Biffy Clyro will play a pre-Q Awards show at the Roundhouse on October 15.
The Scottish trio – comprised of Simon Neil and brothers James and Ben Johnston – will take to the stage at the iconic venue in London to kick off the festivities.
Simon said: “We are delighted to announce we will be playing one of Q’s legendary awards shows.
“And to return to the iconic Roundhouse – where we recorded ‘MTV Unplugged’ in 2017 – just makes it even more special for us. It’s gonna be a lot messier this time though! Hail Satan!”
There is also set to be a special post-awards concert at the venue immediately after the winners are announced, with the performs still to be announced.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has reportedly been working on new music at her home studio with boyfriend Dan Horton.
The 33-year-old singer has been dating the 37-year-old audio technician since May, following her split from former fiancé Christian Carino in February, and the pair are now said to be “working closely” on the pop superstar’s new tunes at her Hollywood Hills property, which was once owned by late satire artist Frank Zappa.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Gaga has been hard at work on her new music for most of August and it’s been really fun as the studio is in her own home now.
“Dan hasn’t fully moved in but he has been spending a lot of time there and is working closely with her team.”
Gaga has seemed “happier lately” after embarking on a new relationship with Dan – who worked on her Las Vegas residency shows.
A source said recently: “Although she has been very busy, lately she seems happier.”
Although things are heating up between the pair, Gaga is planning to take things “slowly” with Dan, who has worked with the likes of Camila Cabello, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, KISS, Lenny Kravitz and JAY-Z, because it’s still early days.
Friends of Gaga say she has completely moved on from feeling down after her split with Christian.
A source said: “All the attention for the movie [‘A Star Is Born’] and her split from Christian was a bit much. She escaped to Mexico with friends twice just to get out of Los Angeles. She seemed tired and a bit gloomy.”
The new music will be the ‘Million Reasons’ hitmaker’s first since the ‘A Star Is Born’ soundtrack, which featured the hit single ‘Shallow’.
The ‘Million Reasons’ hitmaker’s last studio album was 2016’s ‘Joanne’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Post Malone joined Twenty One Pilots on stage for a cover of ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ at Leeds Festival on Sunday night (25.08.19).
The two superstar acts were co-headliners for the final night of the pop festival and, the ‘Rockstar’ rapper – who closed the weekend with a stunning set – surprised fans during the ‘Stressed Out’ duo’s thrilling show when he appeared unannounced with an acoustic guitar for a rendition of the iconic Oasis anthem.
Malone – who will be releasing his third LP on September 6 – walked on stage in the middle of a piano-led performance of the track, strumming the guitar and delivering a show-stopping vocal performance.
Meanwhile, Friday night (23.08.19) headliners Foo Fighters also gave the Leeds crowd a treat when frontman Dave Grohl brought out his daughter Violet, 13, for a touching duet of ‘My Hero’.
The rockers delivered a powerful hit-filled set with some deep cuts, and even played an impromptu cover of Queen and David Bowie’s classic ‘Under Pressure’ after spotting a man dressed as Freddie Mercury and pulling him out of the crowd.
The 1975 played to a huge gathering at the main stage on the Saturday (24.08.19), while Bowling For Soup had people spilling out of The Lock Up tent as they proved their status as pop punk legends.
Billie Eilish flaunted her pop superstar credentials as she looked unfazed by drawing one of the weekend’s biggest crowds on Sunday (25.08.19) afternoon.
Elsewhere over the weekend, the likes of Enter Shikari, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Patent Pending, Mayday Parade, The Hunna, A Day To Remember and You Me At Six entertained the masses.
Carter – along with N.E.R.D. and Bring Me The Horizon – delighted fans with secret sets at last year’s festival, and there were a few surprises this time round.
Bullet For My Valentine only treated the Reading site to a performance and Enter Shikari player a third acoustic set down south to break the record for most sets over both festivals in a single weekend (five).
Up north, Drenge pulled a huge crowd at the BBC Introducing stage, while Billy Marten was another surprise as Sherlocks played on both sites after teasing the slot days beforehand.

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande were the three big winners at the 2019 MTV VMAs on Monday (26.08.19).
The ‘You Need to Calm Down’ singer walked away with the top honour for Video of the Year for the hit single during the annual awards ceremony at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey, and used her acceptance speech to thank those who had put their signature on a petition for the Equality Act, which calls for everybody to have equal rights by law.
Speaking on stage at the event, Taylor said: “I just want to say that this is a fan-voted award. So, I first want to say thank you to the fans because in this video, several points were made, so you voting for this video means that you want a world where we’re all treated equally.
“Regardless of who we are, regardless of how we identify, at the end of this video there was a petition – and there still is a petition for the Equality Act, which basically just says we all deserve equal rights under the law.
“And, I want to thank everyone who signed that petition because it now has half-a-million signatures, which is five times the amount that it would need to warrant a response from the White House.”
Taylor also bagged the gongs for Video for Good – which was also awarded for ‘You Need to Calm Down’ – and ‘ME!’, her collaboration with Brendon Urie, won Best Visual Effects.
Billie Eilish also took home three awards, winning Best New Artist, Push Artist of the Year, and Best Editing for ‘bad guy’, whilst Ariana Grande was the only other artist to bag three gongs, as she won Artist of the Year, Song of Summer for her collaboration with Social House on ‘Boyfriend’, and Best Art Direction for ‘7 Rings’.
Several artists won two awards each, including Lil Nas X – whose remix of ‘Old Town Road’ with Billie Ray Cyrus won him Song of the Year and Best Direction – Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, who teamed up for ‘Señorita’ which won them Best Collaboration and Best Cinematography, and K-Pop group BTS who were crowned the winners in the Best Group category, as well as winning Best K-Pop for ‘Boy With Luv’, their collaboration with Halsey.

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Ray Cyrus thinks the success of ‘Old Town Road’ has been “crazy”.
The 58-year-old country music legend teamed up with Lil Nas X for a remix of the hit song, which was released in retaliation after the original track without Billy’s vocals was removed from Billboard’s Hot Country chart, after it was claimed the song wasn’t country enough.
Since the song was re-released with Billy on board, the track has been a worldwide hit, staying at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a record 19 weeks, making it the only song to do so since the chart started in 1958.
And now, the ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ hitmaker has said he can’t believe how successful the song has been, as he praised 20-year-old Nas for his “electric” personality.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ at the MTV VMAs on Monday (26.08.19), he said: “Tonight’s just a celebration, to be here with these fans, the fans made the song happen. It’s their record and being here tonight is just so much fun.
“It’s crazy, it’s crazy. Again, the people took this song and they made it their own, you know. It’s just been a heck of a ride and it’s been a lot of fun. Seeing Lil Nas take the stage just now, I mean, he’s electric.”
‘Old Town Road’ – which has been remixed several times, including a version named ‘Seoul Town Road’ which features BTS rapper RM – was finally knocked from the top spot on the charts last week, when Billie Eilish’s ‘bad guy’ nabbed the crown.
Both Nas and Billy took the news in their stride though, with the ‘Panini’ hitmaker tweeting: “congratulations to billie eilish!! U deserve this!! (sic)” and Billy adding: “Congratulations @billieeilish Well deserved. Your persistence paid off. Thanks everybody. It was a hell of a ride. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Jonas Brothers made a triumphant return to the MTV Video Music Awards for their first performance at the ceremony in 11 years.
The trio – comprised of siblings Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas – delivered a show-stopping performance of their singles ‘Sucker’ and ‘Only Human’ in a remote location 50 miles away from where the main event was hosted at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park.
The band also won the Best Pop prize for their music video for ‘Sucker’ and before going on stage, Joe received a celebratory kiss from his wife, ‘Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner, as did Kevin from his other half, Danielle Jonas, however Nick’s wife Priyanka Chopra was absent from the bash.
Upon collecting the award, Joe said: “When we didn’t believe in ourselves as a band and brothers, you guys stuck with us through the thick and thin. Thank you so much.”
The Jonas Brothers performed ‘Lovebug’ at the 2008 ceremony.
The ‘Cool’ hitmakers were handed their award by the stars of ‘The Sopranos’, Drea De Matteo, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Vincent Pastore, who walked out onto the stage to Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin”, which was played in the finale of the hit HBO series.
The Jonas Brothers are from New Jersey, which is also regularly featured on ‘The Sopranos’.
Vincent joked that no one asked his permission to film the awards show in New Jersey, before they revealed the winner of the Best Pop accolade.
Jamie-Lynn said: “It’s great to be here celebrating 20 years of ‘The Sopranos’ at the first-ever VMAs in Jersey.”
And Vincent quipped: “I got a problem. I don’t recall anyone asking me if they can do an awards show here, you know.
“MTV, what do you think you’re doing? Handing out awards without my permission. How about I win something, too?”
After being told by his co-star Drea, he is “making Jersey feel like, you know, Jersey”, he jokingly threatened to hijack the power at the venue.
He quipped: “I’m just saying this is a nice little show they got here, but it would be a shame if the power went out.”
The reunion came ahead of the release of the ‘Sopranos’ prequel movie next year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Westlife have featured thousands of fans in their new video for ‘Dynamite’.
The Irish quartet – comprised of Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne – have just released the music video for their summer single and used footage from their concert at Dublin’s Croke Park stadium last month, when they appeared in front of 160,000 fans.
‘Dynamite’ has been co-written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac and is the follow up to comeback singles ‘Hello My Love’ and ‘Better Man’.
Westlife said: “‘Dymanite’ has got such an enchanting melody that starts off subtly and ends up quite big and euphoric. It’s an upbeat, fresh summer song and you could say it reflects the energy of our comeback. The video for the single is incredibly special to us because it involves thousands of our fans at our homecoming Dublin concerts.
“This is our third single that has been co-written by Ed Sheeran. It has been amazing to work with him and he really has put his stamp on our upcoming album ‘Spectrum’.
Westlife’s comeback tour, the ‘Twenty Tour’, is the band’s fastest selling tour of all time, with 400,000 tickets sold in just 48 hours.
The ‘Twenty Tour’ concludes in Indonesia on September 1st.
Meanwhile, Mark recently revealed that Ed has written half of the band’s upcoming album ‘Spectrum’.
Mark said: “He’s done six songs for the album. So effectively half the album.
“One day Ed went in the studio and said ‘I just want to write Westlife songs’. It’s been a truly organic coupling.”
Speaking about the title, the group recently said: “The title ‘Spectrum’ came from us talking about how we feel younger, happier and more energetic than we ever have in our career.
“‘Spectrum’ is a title that represents the various different shades and colours of our personalities, vocals and general perspectives that all blend together in a unique way to create Westlife.
“It’s also a word that represents the various shades and colours in the band, meaning it’s the perfect metaphor for our different points of view and perspectives but together, they somehow join to work perfectly.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Noddy Holder has ruled out a full Slade reunion.
The ‘Cum On Feel the Noize’ hitmaker quit the glam rock group in 1992 and barely sees his former bandmates anymore – and the last time they did get together, their meeting quickly descended into an argument.
Asked how often he sees the rest of Slade, he said: “Not very often. I did see Don [Powell] this year. I haven’t seen Jim [Lea] for a long, long time.
“It’ll be about a year since I saw Dave [Hill] – if I’m going through Wolverhampton, I’ll call in for a cup of tea.
“When I left the band, we weren’t getting on.
“We did get together in the same room about 10 years ago but we were arguing again within five minutes.”
Asked if he can’t imagine touring with the band again, he told MOJO magazine: “No, absolutely not.”
The 73-year-old rocker has kept very little of his memorabilia from Slade’s prime, so doesn’t think the group could be the focus of something like Black Sabbath’s current 50-year anniversary exhibition in their native Birmingham.
Discussing the possibility, he said: “I don’t know, because I gave most of my [stage] costumes to charities.
“The one thing I have is my top hat with the mirrors – in a bank vault in New York.”
Next month will see the release of Slade’s box set, ‘Slade’s Feel The Noize: The Singlez Box’ and the ‘Coz I Luv You’ singer has enjoyed listening back to his old music.
He said: “I like it because I can hear my influences.
“I was singing at working men’s clubs from the age of seven.
“The first song I sang on stage was the Frankie Laine version of ‘I Believe’.
“Little Richard became my idol and that’s what I hear most in my voice.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Westlife are set to undertake a huge world tour in 2020.
The ‘Flying Without Wings’ hitmakers – which are comprised of Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne – have enjoyed huge success with their ‘Twenty’ reunion tour so are planning a huge concert series across the globe next year, as well as a TV special and more new music.
However, the plans won’t kickstart until after Mark and his fiance Cailean O’Neill have welcomed their baby daughter into the world.
A source told Mirror Online: “Westlife’s comeback tour has been a remarkable success and interest in their new music has been better than the band ever imagined, so plans are well underway for what comes after the album release in November.
“The boys are in big demand. Mark is going to take a short break when his new baby arrives but then it’s all systems go.
“TV execs want the boys for the Christmas schedules and there is already talk of a big world tour in 2020, plans are being drawn up.
“There will also be even more new music with Ed Sheeran . Westlife are popular again. The ‘Twenty Tour’ sold 700,000 tickets. There is a lot more to come from them, they’re in it for the long-term now.”
Mark, 39, is likely to bring his baby on the road with him as he praised the family-orientated backstage atmosphere on the ‘Twenty Tour’, admitting it has been very different to the group’s “older days”.
He said: “It just feels like the right time to start a family now. It is something that I’ve always wanted to do but it has always been about timing.
“Cailean and I are really happy and now that I’m in my late 30s and settled at home in Sligo, it is the right moment.
“The Westlife lads have all got nine kids between them, ours will be the tenth Westlife baby. What’s been great about this recent tour is that all of the families have been involved, kids and all, running around backstage
“It is different from the older days but it is just brilliant. Having everyone around us brings a fantastic energy. We’ve had to set up a special family room for everyone at every stadium and arena we’ve played at, it’s been great. The Westlife kids have loved it I think.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift claims Scooter Braun doesn’t know “what art is like”.
The 29-year-old singer has previously spoken of her upset that the music manager now owns all her early master recordings after buying her former record label Big Machine and she took another swipe at him as she spoke of how proud she is to have “full ownership” of her latest LP ‘Lover’.
Speaking on ‘Elvis Duran And The Morning Show’ on iHeart Radio, she said: “It’s mine! She’s mine, fully mine.
“I’m happy to take full ownership of this album. It’s not just from a business perspective, it’s like your heart belongs in that art you made.
“And the person who bought my art, he’s never made any art in his life, so he doesn’t know what it’s like.
“He could never understand that personal connection. When you make something and then someone buys it out from under you…
“I don’t think that a lot of people understand that’s how our business works. They think we own what we make.”
The ‘Me!’ singer – who began her career when she was just 15 – thinks aspiring musicians need to be better educated in the business side of the industry.
She added: “There are so many people who want to be musicians and they need to learn these things because I didn’t know these things when I was a teenager.”
Taylor previously claimed she had no idea Scooter was to take ownership of Big Machine or her master recordings and branded the news her “worst case scenario”.
She wrote on Tumblr at the time: “Some fun facts about today’s news: I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years.
“Like when Kim Kardashian orchestrated an illegally recorded snippet of a phone call to be leaked and then Scooter got his two clients together to bully me online about it. Or when his client, Kanye West, organized a revenge porn music video which strips my body naked. Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.
“This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept. And when that man says ‘Music has value’, he means its value is beholden to men who had no part in creating it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan McKenna loves writing “deep, depressing ballads”.
The former ‘Only Way is Essex’ star made a successful move into country music after quitting the reality show in 2017 and she prefers the genre to any other because the songs seem more meaningful.
She said: “Country music is deeper than other genres – I love to write a deep, depressing ballad.”
The 26-year-old beauty admitted it has always been her ambition to be a singer and she loves writing songs.
She told heat magazine: “Writing my own music and singing it is everything I ever wanted.
“People think I’ve just been on reality TV for the last few years but I’ve actually been working on my music behind closed doors.
“It’s hard [to write songs] but I’ve always written things in my diary and my album is so personal that I’m just reliving my experiences and telling my story.”
Megan’s music has drawn an older fan base to her.
She said: “I have more older fans [now] than when I was on reality TV – a lot of 50-somethings.
“I get people at my gigs coming up to tell me how I’ve helped them through difficult times when they listen to my music.
“Because you do listen to songs and compare your life to that, don’t you?
“It’s lovely that I can do that for people now.”
And the former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ housemate thinks her music shows she’s grown up since her reality TV roots.
She said: “People see this ‘Megan from TV’ but listening to my music shows a different me because it’s all coming from my heart.
“That’s why my album has been like therapy for me…
“I’ve grown up a lot. I’ve made mistakes and I was quite young-minded when I got into reality TV.
“Now I’m older and more experienced and I’ve learned from it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Wiley has accused Ed Sheeran of being a “culture vulture”.
The 40-year-old MC has labelled Ed a clout chaser, saying the chart-topping pop star has befriended certain people within the grime scene in order to gain popularity.
Wiley – who is widely known as the Godfather of Grime – initially said: “I’m sick of people using grime to look good for two minutes. (sic)”
But, Stormzy – who has worked with Ed on the track ‘Take Me Back To London’ – defended his showbiz pal.
He wrote on Twitter: “Wiley you know Ed been doing this from early, been a real one from early, can’t question that, you know I love you and respect you brother but nah don’t do that. (sic)”
However, Wiley refused to back down from his initial comments, posting a laughing emoji and writing: “shall I get my guitar and foot pedal out? (sic)”
The grime star – who previously worked with Ed on the pop star’s ‘No. 5 Collaborations Project’ in 2011 – added: “Anyone who uses us and our sounds are culture vultures… I’m getting my guitar and foot pedal out and I don’t wanna hear nobody moaning about nothing. (sic)”
Wiley previously claimed that grime music has been “watered down” since it first emerged as a credible genre.
Speaking in 2017, he explained: “No-one’s had a grime number one. Any number one that anyone’s had, it’s pop music.
“England is built on pop music, that’s why the show was called ‘Top of the Pops’. It’s a strong pop market.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bat for Lashes never has a “good answer” to explain her stage name.
The ‘Laura’ singer – whose real name is Natasha Khan – crafted her alias because she thought it “sounded like the music” and echoed her love of Halloween and heavy metal.
Asked what Bat for Lashes means, she said: “I’ve been asked many times and I never have a good answer.
“It just sounded like the music to me.
“‘Bat’ because I’ve always been obsessed with Halloween and nocturnal animals and subconscious realms.
“And ‘lashes’ because it sounds quite feminine but also a bit heavy metal. Or sadomasochistic.”
Although Natasha’s music hasn’t been influenced by her Pakistani heritage, a lot of her childhood memories have unintentionally inspired the “concept” of her new album, ‘Lost Girls’.
She explained in an interview with Uncut magazine: “Obviously my dad is from Pakistan and I’ve spent lots of time there.
“It’s not so much in the sound of the music but I realised that my memories of going to Pakistan as a child have influenced the ‘Lost Girls’ concept.
“All my cousins rode motorbikes and I used to jump om the back and we’d ride down these dusty roads into the town to get bottles of Pepsi – they were obsessed with US culture too, but there were also people with pet monkeys on their shoulders and snake charmers.
“Then I realised the emblem for the ‘Lost Girls’ was a hand with a snake in the air and they all ride bikes and they live in the desert.
“So I think moving to [Los Angeles] stirred up those memories in my subconscious.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Normani thinks she’s a “perfectionist”.
The 23-year-old pop star – who first found fame as part of Fifth Harmony – has admitted to feeling “vulnerable” as a solo artist, especially with the release of her latest music video, ‘Motivation’, which pays homage to a lot of her own pop inspirations.
She shared: “Putting something out is a vulnerable moment, because you give everybody the opportunity to pick apart something you’ve worked incredibly hard on.
“Ultimately, I guess it paid off, and I’m happy that everybody loves it. I’m such a perfectionist.
“Even seeing the final version – I wouldn’t say I’m 100 percent happy with it, but I know for sure that it’s just going to motivate me to get it 100 percent right next time.”
Normani also revealed that Kelly Rowland was the first person to see her latest video.
Speaking to The Fader magazine, she explained: “Kelly Rowland was the first person that I sent the video to – she heard the song before everybody else heard it, too.
“I was freaking out, but she was like, ‘You’re buggin a little bit.’
“Growing up, I looked up to her so much, so the fact that I’m able to pick up the phone and call and get the wisdom that she gained over the course of however many years of being in this industry, it’s just so beautiful.”
