TikTok singing sensation Luvcat used to rehearse in a disused toilet

OHMYGOSSIP — Luvcat says her music career is “actually progressing” because she no longer has to rehearse in a disused toilet.
The singer has enjoyed great success on TikTok over the course of the last three years and as she prepares for her upcoming tour, recalled her earlier days where she and her band couldn’t even afford a rehearsal room.
She told NME: “Something funny happened a couple of days ago, which might seem silly to some people, but we were rehearsing for this tour coming up, and I’ve only ever been able to afford a two-hour rehearsal with the boys.
“And it was the first time we’ve had six hours in a rehearsal room, and I didn’t have to settle at the door, because obviously they’ve got people looking after that now.
“We used to rehearse in – it’s actually brilliant – but it was an ex-public toilet in Kentish Town. I’m not dissing it, but it suddenly felt like, ‘Oh my god, we’re actually progressing, because now we get to rehearse.’ I get the privilege of playing with the boys for longer, which is all I really want to do.”
The ‘He’s My Man’ songstress – who will be on tour throughout the UK in February 2025 – noted that she doesn’t want to take her sudden success “too seriously” but wants her audience to hear her “very real, true” music through her stories.
She said: “The playfulness of it all, because I don’t want to take this too seriously. Yeah, there’s a lot of heartache and a lot of grit in what I’m writing about, but it comes hand in hand with mischief and fun and it not being too heavy. My lyrics are about real things that have happened, but then sometimes I’ll dress it up in a metaphor, or paint a strange picture with it. But they are pretty much all very real, true stories.”

David Gilmour claims Pink Floyd were ‘bullied’ over release of final album

OHMYGOSSIP — David Gilmour has claimed Pink Floyd were “bullied” by their record label to release their final album, ‘The Endless River’, as a “properly paid-for record”.
The 78-year-old rocker – who joined the legendary prog rock group in 1967 – believes the 2014 record was wrongly promoted as a follow-up to 1994’s ‘The Division Bell’, when in fact, it was just a continuation of instrumental and ambient music recorded in the same sessions for its predecessor.
Engineer Andy Jackson originally edited the music into an hour-long ambient composition tentatively titled ‘The Big Spliff’, but the ‘Comfortably Numb’ group decided not to release it, though two of the tracks do appear as bonus tracks on the deluxe edition of ‘The Endless River’.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Gilmour said of his latest solo album ‘Luck and Strange’: “Hope you like this album better than The Endless River.”
He then explained: “A lot of fans wanted this stuff that we’d done in that time, and we thought we’d give it to them.
“My mistake, I suppose, was in being bullied by the record company to have it out as a properly paid-for Pink Floyd record. It should have been clear what it was — it was never intended to be the follow-up to ‘The Division Bell.’ But, you know, it’s never too late to get caught in one of these traps again.”
The album was released following the departure of the bassist, Roger Waters, in 1985, and the first following the death of keyboardist, Richard Wright, in 2008, who made a posthumous appearance.
While promoting the record, Pink Floyd transferred to the Parlophone Label Group during the sale of EMI to Universal Music Group.
Then, Warner Music Group agreed a deal with Universal to buy the Parlophone Label Group from EMI, acquiring publishing rights to Pink Floyd’s back catalog and future releases.
Last month, it was revealed that Pink Floyd had sold their music catalogue to Sony Music for a whopping $400 million.
Gilmour said of the sale: “This stuff is for future generations. I’m an old person.
“I’ve spent the last 40-odd years trying to fight the good fight against the forces of indolence and greed to do the best with our stuff that you can do. And I’ve given that fight up now.”
The sale was agreed after a tax dispute between Gilmour and Waters, 81, as well as drummer Nick Mason, 80, and the estates of Wright and founder Roger ‘Syd’ Barrett, who died in 2006.

Bruce Dickinson considered new singer for Iron Maiden amid cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Dickinson would have helped Iron Maiden source a replacement singer if he couldn’t sing the same way after his cancer battle.
The 66-year-old metal legend had a tumour the size of a “golf ball” growing on his tongue and was also diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014, and he has admitted he wouldn’t have wanted to continue fronting the group if his vocals were altered in any way.
Fortunately, after undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy in 2015, he returned to touring with the ‘Run to the Hills’ group in 2016.
Bruce told the ‘Rich Roll’ podcast: “When I had throat cancer, the last thing on my mind was, ‘Would I ever sing again?’ The first thing on my mind is, ‘Am I gonna get through this and be alive?’ And the last thing on my mind was would I ever sing again? And I thought, ‘Well, we’ll get to that stage when I’m done and we start trying to sing.’
“And I was quite prepared to accept that I might not be able to sing with Iron Maiden again. I might be able to sing, I might be able to vocalise, I might be able to sing in a different way, but if I couldn’t sing the way I have to sing with Iron Maiden, I’ll help them find a great replacement. Because the music is sacrosanct.”
Bruce recently shared how it took him 10 months to decide whether to sing again.
Appearing on Brazilian TV show ‘Conversa com Bial’, he said: “It took me about 10 months to decide, ‘Okay, let’s try.’ When we tried to sing too early… remember that the whole throat, all the muscles, everything, basically we stick our head in a microwave for about two months. Everything is irritated and needs to relax.”
Iron Maiden are currently on their ‘The Future Past World Tour’, which wraps in December in Brazil, before they embark on the ‘Run For Your Lives World Tour’ on 27 May 2025, in Budapest, Hungary.

Luke Combs mortified after Tracy Chapman spotted Fast Car lyric error

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Combs wanted to “crawl into a hole” when Tracy Chapman informed him he got a ‘Fast Car’ lyric wrong.
The 34-year-old country music legend had a hit in April with his cover of the 1988 classic, and he has now revealed he was left mortified when the 60-year-old music legend pointed out his error.
He should have sung “We gotta make a decision”, but he recorded “Still gotta make a decision” by mistake.
In a fan’s TikTok video of his recent concert, he shared: “That was the first time that I knew that I recorded the song incorrectly.
“It was her telling me that. Because I remember, when she said that, I wanted to crawl into a hole.”
Luke insists Tracy was “cool” about it, but it irks him every time he performs the song now.
He went on: “Luckily, she was awesome about it. And I think about it every single time that I sing the song, and I will think about it every single time I sing this song for the rest of my whole life.
“But she was so cool about it.”
The ‘Nothing Like You’ singer has now decided to start singing Tracy’s original lyric going forward.
He said: “So the version you know is, ‘Still gotta make a decision.’ Not the words.
“It’s just not the words. I made that up in my head.
“So tonight, I’m going to sing ‘We gotta make a decision.’ Because Tracy Chapman told me to, and dammit, I’m gonna do it.”
Tracy and Luke teamed up for a duet of the song at the Grammys earlier this year, and Luke’s cover was also nominated for Best Solo Country Performance.
He called their duet “a defining moment of my career”.
Luke wrote on Instagram: “When it comes to the performance it’s still hard to process how amazing it really was to be up there on that stage. No doubt a defining moment of my career. Tracy, I want to send my sincerest thanks to you for allowing me to be a part of your moment. Thank you for the impact you have had on my musical journey, and the musical journeys of countless other singers, songwriters, musicians, and fans alike. I hope you felt how much you mean to the world that night. We were all in awe of you up there and I was just the guy lucky enough to have the best seat in the house.”

BTS star V star releasing remix of ‘idol’ Bing Crosby’s White Christmas

OHMYGOSSIP — BTS star V is set to release a new version of the late Bing Crosby’s yuletide classic ‘White Christmas’ featuring his music hero.
The 28-year-old K-pop star has been given the blessing of the late jazz legend’s estate to release a new interpretation of the 1942 festive hit – which was originally penned for the musical film ‘Holiday Inn’ and later soundtracked Bing’s iconic 1959 blockbuster of the same name.
The South Korean star admits it’s a huge honour to have sung alongside his “idol” and says he did so with the “utmost sincerity and admiration for him”.
He said in a statement: “I’m so grateful to have had the chance to be featured in a song with my all-time favourite jazz artist, Bing Crosby.
“I grew up listening to his song ‘It’s Been a Long, Long Time’ countless times a day, and I feel incredibly fortunate and honoured to have sung along on ‘White Christmas’ with the voice of someone I consider an idol. Being a huge fan of his, I sang with the utmost sincerity and admiration for him, and I hope many people enjoy it as much as I enjoyed singing it. Lastly, I wish a lovely holiday season to everyone listening to the song.”
Bing’s daughter, Mary Crosby, added: “As a family, we are thrilled to have V and Dad singing together on this ultimate Christmas song.”
The new version of ‘White Christmas’ will be released on December 6.
‘White Christmas’ topped the Billboard chart for 11 weeks in 1942 and returned to No1. in December 1943 and 1944.
The song – which was penned by songwriting legend Irving Berlin – won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1942.
In the film, it’s a duet with late actress Marjorie Reynolds, however, her voice was dubbed by late film contralto singer Martha Mears.
Bing had to re-record the track in 1947 because the original 1942 master was damaged due to frequent use. The new version featured the Trotter Orchestra and the Darby Singers and it’s the 1947 version – with added flutes and celesta – that is played on the radio at Christmastime.

The ‘Push the Button’ hitmakers – Mutya Buena, 39, Keisha Buchanan, 40, and Siobhán Donaghy, 40 – burst out of a billboard on Wednesday (6.11.24) after unsuspecting travellers pushed a button, which transformed into a stage and gave performance of the 2005 hit.

Another penned: “Having a bite to eat, followed by a random performance from @sugababes at King’s Cross station this evening.”
Their unexpected appearance comes as part of Sky Broadband’s latest campaign to promote their One Touch Switch service – the firm’s new 24/7 switching support service – and the girl group swapped their name to Suga Broadband Babes to show broadband customers how easy it is to switch provider.

Amber Pine, Managing Director of Sky Connectivity, said: “Just like the Sugababes, we know a thing or two about switching!
“That’s why we’ve launched Sky Broadband’s dedicated 24/7 switching support service, so customers can get through to a real person for help any time, day or night.
“Alongside the industry’s One Touch Switch process, this makes it easier than ever for people to make the change.”

Both artists attained success in the early 2000s, with Nelly scoring hits such as ‘Ride Wit Me’ and ‘Dilemma’, which famously featured former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland.

‘Let’s celebrate his life’ The Weeknd pays tribute to ‘idol’ Quincy Jones

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd has reminded his fans how important his “idol”, the late Quincy Jones, was to the “fabric” of his music.
The ‘Blinding Lights’ hitmaker took to social media to “celebrate” the legendary record producer, who passed away on Sunday (03.11.24), aged 91, and he shared a foreword he penned for Quincy’s 2022 autobiography ’12 Notes on Life and Creativity’.
He wrote on X: “My fans know how important Quincy was to the fabric of my music. I was given the opportunity to write a foreword to his book and tried to capture what he meant to me as a human. Let’s celebrate his life today (sic)”
In part of the foreword, in which The Weeknd – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – refers to Quincy as “Q”, he wrote: “Q was my idol in every sense of the word and I tried to soak up any clues to greatness he may have left behind. I felt as though I knew him, because I practically did know everyone about him and his work, but we hadn’t yet met in person.
“Fast forward to 2015, when Victor Drai surprised me by bringing Q to my show at Drai’s Nightclub in Las Vegas. I nearly lost my mind after I heard that my idol was sitting on the side of the stage, about to watch me perform. As soon as I finished my last song, I couldn’t make it over to him fast enough. I was so laser-focused on meeting him (the reason why I even do music in the first place) that I barely even noticed there were fans on the other side of the stage, screaming my name, trying to grab my attention.
“The first thing Q told me as I approached him was, ‘Go to your fans. Take pictures and sign autographs with them. I’ll still be here waiting for you afterward. They’re more important.’ Out of all the lessons I learned from watching his public interviews or listening to his productions for hours on end, that one piece of instruction proved to be more meaningful. At that moment, he was teaching me something that I will never forget. Nothing is more valuable than the people around me, and giving back is always better than receiving.
“So Q, thank you. Thank you for everything you’ve taught me publicly, and everything you’ve taught me through your words and actions.”
Quincy worked with several music icons throughout his career, including the likes of Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, and Lionel Richie.

Peter Hook and New Order pay tribute to Quincy Jones

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Hook and New Order have paid tribute to former collaborator Quincy Jones for “making us big in America”.
The ‘Blue Monday’ band were signed to Jones’ Qwest Records label and had their classic single successfully mixed by the legendary producer – who died at the age of 91 on Sunday (03.11.24) – in 1988 and bassist Hook has remembered the influence he had on the band’s fortunes in the US.
Peter wrote on X: “It’s so sad to hear about Quincy Jones.
“When he signed us to his label, he made us feel so welcome – inviting us to dinner at his home every time we were in town. He made us big in America. He was so humble and sweet that you immediately fell in love with him.
“And to this day I still got a lovely message from him every year on Christmas and birthday cards! A musical genius and a great, lovely man. He will be sorely missed. RIP.”
New Order also shared a tribute of their own to Quincy – who worked with artists ranging from Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson in a long and varied career.
The Instagram post was captioned: “Very sorry to hear about the passing of our old label boss and collaborator, Quincy Jones. We were on his label Qwest for many years, he did a great remix of ‘Blue Monday’ in 1988. We send all our condolences and thoughts to his family, he was a true legend.”
The post also featured a clip of Quincy expressing his admiration for the ‘True Faith’ hitmakers.
The producer says in the footage: “We’re talking about this group who was influenced by the Sex Pistols, but at the time I didn’t understand it, because I thought they were much better than the Sex Pistols musically.
“They were funky and they had tight time, because naturally when you’re dealing with sequences, the time’s gonna be nailed down with spikes, which I loved. And they know how to really deal with dance music.”

Liam Gallagher ‘blown away’ by music Noel Gallagher has written for possible new Oasis record

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has been “blown away” by music his brother Noel Gallagher has written for a possible new Oasis album.
The Britpop icons are reuniting for long-awaited gigs around the world next year and Liam has teased on social media that the rockers could release their first studio record since ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ in 2008.
One fan asked on X: “What do you think of Noel’s new songs he’s written for Oasis?”
The 52-year-old musician replied: “Blown away.”
Liam is known for his blunt interactions with fans on the platform and hinted in September that he and Noel had recorded new songs ahead of the reunion.
A fan asked: “Is it true that Oasis will have a new album???”
Liam responded: “Yep it’s already finished.”
The ‘Live Forever’ rocker heightened expectations further by replying to a question asking if the record was “up in the air” by stating: “It’s in the bag mate f*** the air.”
Oasis have not officially confirmed if they will be releasing a new album despite Liam’s online hints.
However, Liam previously denied that a documentary about the Oasis reunion is in the works after reports that major studios were embroiled in a fierce bidding war for the rights to the film.
He replied to a fan’s inquiry on X: “We’re not doing 1 I’m not gonna be in it anyway I’m doing the gigs there’s been enough said about this band it’s time to get Rocking and Rolling not yapping and scrapping. (sic)”
The Gallagher brothers are also not planning to do any joint interviews before the ‘Oasis Live ’25 Tour’ that begins in Cardiff on July 4.
Liam responded to another fan: “Exactly we’ve been over this b***** a million times and some people have different versions to others we’re back and that’s all that matters to me and should donto the REAL fans of the band (sic)”

BLACKPINK’s Rosé has a ‘disgustingly vulnerable’ song in debut solo record

OHMYGOSSIP — BLACKPINK star Rosé has included a “disgustingly vulnerable” track on her debut solo album ‘Rosie’.
The 27-year-old singer has revealed that her bad habit of doom-scrolling through hateful comments has served as inspiration for one of the record’s most meaningful tunes.
Rosé told PAPER magazine: “I realise how vulnerable and addicted I was to this (online) world and that craving for feeling like I wanted to be loved and understood.
“It’s so disgustingly vulnerable and honest that people learn that I am a person that goes through these emotions, and I hated that about myself.”
The K-pop star revealed that online criticism is hurtful despite her best attempts to appear unruffled.
She said: “If anything, it’s something I want to cover up. Even in interviews, I’m like nothing really fazes me, you know? But it does. Every word, every comment, it crushes me.”
Rosé also described how her first solo record, which will be released next month, draws on experiences from her life and the relationships she has forged.
The artist – whose real name is Roseanne Park – said: “I think I’m grateful enough to have gone through a few relationships, you know, like a normal girl in her 20s.
“I’m probably very relatable if you listen to my songs, and if anyone’s been in that kind of relationship. It doesn’t even have to be about a boyfriend, just any type of toxic relationship.”
Rosé added: “Your 20s aren’t an easy time to get through. It’s when you’re vulnerable and confused yet so excited and sometimes even angry about life. That’s what I wanted to express in my music.”

Julian Casablancas hates The Strokes hit Last Nite

OHMYGOSSIP — Julian Casablancas says The Strokes hit ‘Last Nite’ is “pretty dead to me”.
The 46-year-old musician has expressed his hatred for the band’s 2001 track after years of performing it live and confessed that he would switch the radio off if it started playing.
Quizzed on which song he can no longer listen to, Julian told The Guardian newspaper: “‘Last Nite’ by The Strokes is pretty dead to me. I’m not sure why.
“There are some others like ‘Reptilia’, ‘Hard To Explain’, ‘Someday’, ‘Take It Or Leave It’, ‘New York City Cops’ that are comparable in terms of crowd reaction that I’m not quite as sick of. If I heard it on the radio, I’d probably turn it off.”
Casablancas has previously expressed his distaste for performing The Strokes’ older hits live as he finds that the “music doesn’t move you” after playing the same tunes repeatedly.
He said in 2020: “When you’re growing up and imagining playing music, it is for the excitement, but the one aspect of doing it for a living that is a sadness you don’t anticipate is that you play songs so much, you become sick of them.
“We hadn’t played for a while. So it was still fun, but when you start playing 30 or 40 shows, the music doesn’t move you. You feel phoney. To some extent, that’s why I play with (side project) The Voidz. I couldn’t care less about playing ‘Last Nite’.”
Julian has spent almost three decades in the music industry with The Strokes and The Voidz but accepts that there will be bumps in the road when making records.
He told NME: “You can’t just expect things to happen (the way) you want.
“You always want to put something out and have everyone say, ‘Oh my god, this is the greatest thing of all time! You win the award for greatest thing ever!’
“In reality, things take a long time, and I’ve always just tried to put my head down and make things that are good.”

Unseen Band Aid footage set to air in Do They Know It’s Christmas? documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Unseen footage from the first Band Aid single is set to be aired for the first time.
The iconic charity track ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ was recorded on November 25, 1984 and the BBC is set to celebrate the 40th anniversary since that session with a series of special programmes.
Zoe Ball will front BBC Radio 2 documentary ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?: The Song That Changed The World’ on Sunday December 1, including contributes from Sir Bob Geldof, Midge Ure, Bono, Sting and more.
BBC Four and BBC iPlayer will air a new 75-minute documentary ‘The Making of Do They Know It’s Christmas?’.
The film has unearthed 75 minutes of the original footage shot by director Nigel Dick at SARM Studios in Notting Hill, which has been newly-restored and digitised.
The BBC said: “In rare and previously unseen moments, stars including Bananarama, Bono, Boy George, Duran Duran, George Michael, Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17, Paul Young, Phil Collins, Spandau Ballet and Sting, rehearse and record their parts and interact with each other during 24 hours which would make musical history.”
Jonathan Rothery, Head of BBC Pop Music TV, commented: “The creation of the Band Aid supergroup and release of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ was a hugely significant moment in pop music history, and BBC TV will be celebrating the 40th anniversary since its recording, and its incredible legacy which lives on today.”
Sir Bob hailed the new footage as “so guileless, so charming and yes so innocent”.
He added: “It was, if not exactly the ‘shot that rang around the world’, it certainly became, however unwittingly, ‘the shout that rang around the world’, culminating 20 years later in all its unlikely majesty in ultimately forcing the global political process to bend to its focused will at the Gleneagles G8 summit of 2005 and after the Live8 concerts.
“This then is the ‘fly on the wall’ story of that day from found footage that no-one had thought to look for before, but is now an integral part of British pop history.
“I love it because it is so… English. So guileless, so charming and yes so innocent.”

Paloma Faith had ‘s******* record deal ever’ so she made one demand to Sony

OHMYGOSSIP — Paloma Faith’s old record deal was “probably” one of the worst in history.
The 43-year-old pop star enjoyed major success in the late 2000s and early 2010s with hits like ‘New York’ and ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ but revealed when she was coming to the end of her old contract, she demanded that she got a “giant chair” because that deal had been so low to tart with..
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “When Jason [Iley, chairman] came to Sony, I was on the end of probably one of the s******* record deals negotiated. I was signed for five albums for about £2.50 an album.
“I remembered back in the day those game shows where people would win a giant chair. And I said to Jason, ‘I’m not signing to Sony unless I get a giant chair”.
However, the ‘How You Leave A Man’ songstress agreed with Jason that she would “never” share an image of her big chair online because it could have been seen as “crass” by followers.
She said: “Jason said, ‘It’s not very tasteful to have a giant chair when there’s people with no money who would hate to see it’.
“And I said, ‘I promised Jason that if you give me a giant chair, I’ll never post a picture of it ever in the history of our lives’.
“And I haven’t posted a picture, I did think about it, but it is kind of crass.”
Meanwhile, Paloma split from Leyman Lachine – with whom she has two young daughters – in 2022 after five years of marriage and wrote her latest album ‘The Glorification of Sadness’ about her tough time but doesn’t think she will actually ever get through the “trauma” because they have children together.
Speaking on the ‘Great Company with Jamie Laing’ podcast, she explained: “Well, just because you finished the album doesn’t mean the trauma has gone away. But I think in the past up till, like so my first five albums, were all albums that I felt like I’d put something to bed with. But I think this is ongoing navigation, because we have children together. And that’s what makes this a different type of heartbreak album.
“Because the heartbreak will be forever and, and the navigation of our relationship changing shape will be forever probably till we die. You can’t really let go of somebody you’ve got kids with. ”
