Celine Dion ‘can’t wait to perform again’

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion “can’t wait” to return to the stage.
The 56-year-old star revealed in 2022 that she’d been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a progressive neurological disorder that affects her muscles – but Celine is now busily preparing for her new Las Vegas show.
She told the BBC: “We have been working so hard to put this show together, because I’m back.”
Celine hasn’t performed live in a long time. But she’s excited to make her long-awaited comeback.
The ‘Because You Loved Me’ hitmaker shared: “I’ll be on stage. I don’t know when exactly, but trust me I will scream it out loud.
“I can’t wait.”
Celine will live with stiff-person syndrome for the rest of her life. However, she’s undergone therapy with the aim of returning to the stage.
She said: “My voice will be rebuilt. I mean, it started a while ago already. My voice is being rebuilt as we speak, right now.”
Celine previously revealed that she hopes to “raise awareness” of stiff-person syndrome through a new feature-length documentary.
The award-winning star has opened up about her struggles in ‘I Am: Celine Dion’, which premieres later this month.
She said: “This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me.
“As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realised how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans.
“During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

The 50-year-old Slipknot star axed his planned performance at the Nova Rock festival in Austria on Thursday (13.06.24) shortly after calling off his set at the Rock For People festival in the Czech Republic on Wednesday (12.06.24) because he had woken up feeling very sick.

Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer rock The O2

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Corgan’s children joined him on stage during the Smashing Pumpkins’ sold-out show in London over the weekend.
The US rockers – which also included original members James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, as well as new guitarist Kiki Wong – took to the stage at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday (08.06.24) night and during their rendition of ‘Beguiled’, the 57-year-old frontman’s son Augustus, eight, and five-year-old daughter Philomena – who he has with wife Chloe Mendel – walked out in front of the crowd, where they waved and adorably showed off their dance moves.
‘Beguiled’ wasn’t the only track from the group’s recent record ‘Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts’ that fans got to hear, as they also played ‘Empires’, ‘Spellbinding’, ‘Springtimes’ and ‘That Which Animates the Spirit’, but it was on older tracks that the band really shone, with the crowd singing along to every word of classic hits including ‘Zero’, ‘Today’, ‘Tonight, Tonight’, ‘1979’ and ‘Bullet with the Butterfly Wings’.
Away from their own songs, fans were also treated to a cover of U2’s ‘Zoo Station’ early in their set, which perfectly showcased the sticks skills of drummer Jimmy .
Before Smashing Pumpkins came on stage, Weezer kicked off a rousing hour-long set with ‘My Name is Jonas’ before launching into a cover of Hole’s ‘Celebrity Skin’ – which was co-written by Billy – and sing-a-long tracks ‘In the Garage and ‘Hash Pipe’, ending their set on the classic ‘Buddy Holly’, which still sounded as fresh as on release 30 years ago.
The joint tour continues in Dublin on Monday (10.06.24) before the groups head to Glasgow on Tuesday (12.06.24) followed by stops in Manchester and Cardiff on Thursday (13.06.24) and Friday (14.06.24) respectively.

Anne-Marie reveals awkward accident performing live during pregnancy

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne-Marie thinks she “weed herself on stage” during her pregnancy.
The 33-year-old singer – who welcomed baby daughter Seven into the world four months ago – spent eight months still touring while she was pregnant, and she admitted there were times it became a struggle.
She told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “It was the most beautiful thing but it was definitely hard.
“I think I weed myself on stage a couple of times.”
Despite the challenges, the ‘Rockabye’ hitmaker was determined to stay on the road and keep performing as close as possible to her birth.
Anne-Marie – who married rapper Slowthai in July 222 – was touring just two weeks before Seven was born, and even performed live days before the big day.
She said: “Yeah, I don’t know how I did it. I weirdly had it in my head that I wanted to go against everything that everyone says about pregnant women.
“Most people stay at home because their ankles and back hurt and I just went, ‘F*** that – I am not doing that.’
“I made it my mission to be able to do everything I normally do while pregnant and I managed to do that up until two weeks before when I was like, ‘Get the f****** thing out of me.’ ”
Now, the ‘Don’t Play’ star is getting used to her new life as a mother while still keeping active with her music, including recently making her live return at Parklife festival in Manchester over the weekend.
She added: “It is definitely a roller-coaster of emotions. I am quite emotional anyway as a person but this has made me extra, extra emotional.”
And while she confessed one key aspect of motherhood is the “hardest thing” she’s ever had to do, it’s all worth it for her daughter.
She said: “It is hard. I am breast-feeding and it’s the hardest thing I have ever done. But she is the most beautiful little thing. I never thought I would be a mum.”

‘I’m sick of it!’ The Who’s Roger Daltrey blasts the internet for ‘ruining’ live shows

OHMYGOSSIP — The Who’s Roger Daltrey is “sick” of fans looking up setlists ahead of his live shows.
The 80-year-old musician is due to kick off his solo, semi-acoustic North American tour on Wednesday (12.06.24), but he has deliberately stayed quiet about which songs he will perform, because he “can’t stand it” when fans know the tunes he is about to play live.
He told Billboard: “I’m not gonna talk about songs.
“Too many people reveal songs. There’s no surprises left with concerts these days, because everybody wants to see the setlist.
“I’m sick of it. The internet’s ruined the live shows for me. Who wants to know what’s coming next? People forget about surprises. I can’t stand it.”
However, Roger has let slip he will play The Who’s ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’, but he isn’t planning to perform the tune’s iconic scream, because it has been “brutal” on his vocal cords for the past 55 years.
He added: “I’m not gonna do the scream. I’m gonna get the audience to do the scream.
“I’ve done that scream for 55 years, and I’ve had enough of it.
“I don’t even want to try it now; it’s brutal on the vocal cords.
“They can do the scream, and I’ll do everything else.
“I’m more into singing these days. At the age of 80, I think I deserve to be.”
Roger’s latest comments come after he recently appeared to rule out a The Who avatar show.
Despite Pete Townshend insisting he would love for the band to feature in a digital concert residency, similar to Abba Voyage in London, Roger isn’t as keen.
He quipped to Ultimate Classic Rock magazine: “What, we’re going to go out and do ABBA covers? I don’t think so. I’d look awful in a mini dress!”
Roger went on: “I’ve never thought about it. I wouldn’t want to go and see it.”
Pete recently told The New York Times: “It feels to me like there’s one thing The Who can do, and that’s a final tour where we play every territory in the world and then crawl off to die. I don’t get much of a buzz from performing with The Who. If I’m really honest, I’ve been touring for the money. My idea of an ordinary lifestyle is pretty elevated.
“The Who isn’t Daltrey and Townshend onstage at 80, pretending to be young. It’s the four of us in 1964, when we were 18 or 19. If you want to see The Who myth, wait for the avatar show. It would be good!”

Eminem tipped to top the bill at Glastonbury 2025

OHMYGOSSIP — Eminem is being tipped to headline Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage next year.
Co-organiser Emily Eavis has allegedly tried and failed to get the rap icon to play the world-famous music extravaganza a handful of times before, but an insider has claimed Shady’s epic comeback means there is a chance the ‘Lose Yourself’ hitmaker could be persuaded to top the bill at Worthy Farm in 2025.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It’s been a long time coming but finally, after years of trying, Emily could be about to get her wish.
“It’s by no means a done deal but with a successful comeback in motion a huge headline slot next year makes sense.
“I’m sure everyone behind the scenes is willing things to work out.”
Eminem recently shot to the top of the charts with ‘Houdini’ from his upcoming LP ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’.
The global hit interpolates multiple Eminem classics with ‘Abracadabra’ by the Steve Miller Band.
The video takes fans back to the ‘Without Me’ promo and sees him relive moments from his iconic 2002 music video alongside guest stars Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Pete Davidson.
Eminem even goes back to his trademark bleach blonde hair which he was known for in the early days of his career.
The hip-hip star previously shared news of his new album as he appeared at the 2024 NFL Draft in his home city of Detroit, Michigan, on April 25.
He appeared with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as they kicked off the Annual Player Selection Meeting and a trailer circulated of a fake reporter announcing the death of Eminem’s alter ego Slim Shady.
They said: “Through his complex and often-criticised, tongue-twisting rhymes, the blonde anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies.”
His rap peer, 50 Cent, said: “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.”
The reporter continued: “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”
In March, Dr. Dre confirmed he has songs on Eminem’s upcoming album.
Speaking on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, he said: “Let me explain something to you right now.
“Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year and I actually talked to him and he said it was OK for me to make that announcement right here on this show.
“I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually going to hear the entire album for the first time tomorrow. “He holds his music close to his chest, so I haven’t heard everything. I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”

Jelly Roll thought he was being pranked when Eminem’s team reached out

OHMYGOSSIP — Jelly Roll thought it was “a joke” when Eminem’s team reached out to ask him to perform with the rap legend.
The 39-year-old country star and rapper had to pinch himself when he was invited by the ‘Lose Yourself’ hitmaker, 51, to perform ‘Sing for the Moment’ with him as a surprise for this month’s ‘Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central’ special for NBC.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, he said: “When I think about coolest moments of my career, right now at the top, there has to be this thing that I got to go sing with Eminem in Detroit.
“I got to sing ‘Sing for the Moment’ with him, which is a record where he sampled Steven Tyler. I mean, just what an incredible night and I got to go do it in Detroit. It was unreal.”
The ‘Son of a Sinner’ star – whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord – dubbed the duet the “coolest moment ever”.
He recalled: “Em reached out, his team reached out and said, ‘Would you be interested in doing this since he was already there doing the secret tribute?’ I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was a joke until I met Eminem himself.
“I thought I was being joked! I even know Eminem’s manager. He’s a friend of mine. He’s really good to me. His name is Paul and I was like, ‘Paul, don’t play.’ He was like, ‘I swear.’ And as soon as I met Eminem, it was like the coolest moment ever, man.”
He confessed: “I was giddy, like a child.
“You could see it all over my performance. Just the kid in me. I thought the camera was off of me. So as soon as I get through singing, I’m like, whoa, I just let this steamroller out. It’s really cool.”

Ain’t Nobody i’m afraid to offend… Chaka Khan rejected Stevie Wonder’s song

OHMYGOSSIP — Chaka Khan told Stevie Wonder she didn’t like the song he offered her funk band Rufus.
The 74-year-old music legend gave the ‘Ain’t Nobody’ hitmaker ‘Come and Get This Stuff’ to put her spin on, but she refused and asked if he had anything else.
In an interview with The Independent, the ever-candid star recalled: “And I told Stevie, ‘I don’t like it – what else you got?’
“I don’t like your song, what else have you got?”
The 71-year-old singer admits she often “upsets people” by speaking the truth.
She continued: “I don’t think he ever heard that at all.
“But I wasn’t thinking about that. I just tell the truth all the time, and I can’t help it. It upsets people sometimes. But hell, if the truth upsets you, I can’t really help that.”
However, the ‘Superstition’ hitmaker was not offended and ended up giving them ‘Tell Me Something Good’, which just so happened to become a top five hit in 1974 in the US.
She remembered: “Stevie said, ‘What’s your birth sign?’ Aries. ‘Oh, I got the song for you…’ And then he started playing that ‘wakka-wakka’ on the keyboard, and – bam! – there it was.”
Elsewhere, the ‘I’m Every Woman’ hitmaker admitted she never got over the heartbreak her record label caused when they changed Rufus to Rufus and Chaka Khan, adding that she and her bandmates are still not on proper speaking terms.
She said: “The record company renamed us ‘Rufus and Chaka Khan’.
“That caused a huge rift in how the band felt about me. I was totally against it and made that very clear. But the label said, ‘Go along with it, or forget it.’ Of course, I had to ride the pony, for everybody’s sake. But it broke my heart, for them to feel… secondary to me. We’d all been equals. But something beautiful died during that second album, Rags to Rufus, and people are still recovering from what happened. I love those guys. But we can’t talk straight like we used to anymore.”

Liam Gallagher enjoys Supersonic night at The O2

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher thanked his fans for turning out to see him on a “cold December night” on Monday (10.06.24).
The 51-year-old rocker performed the third of his four sell-out ‘Definitely Maybe’ shows at London’s The O2, and made a nod towards the unseasonal conditions towards the end of the gig.
He told the crowd: “Thank you for coming out on this cold f****** December night on a Monday. I appreciate it, I really do.”
Earlier in the evening, Liam has urged the audience to treat the show as the beginning of the weekend and to get into the party mood, and they were happy to adhere to his request, loudly singing along and chanting the singer’s name in between songs.
After kicking off with ‘Rock n Roll Star’ and offering a shout out to “the one and only Bonehead”, his former Oasis bandmate who has joined him in celebrating the 30th anniversary of the group’s debut album, Liam said: “The weekend starts here, I don’t wanna hear any of that Monday night s***”.
The singer and his band – who performed on a stage filled with props that referenced the cover of ‘Definitely Maybe’, including two giant pink flamingos, a picture of Burt Bacharach, an old TV and a giant spinning globe – then launched into a blistering version of ‘Columbia’, quickly followed by ‘Shakermaker’, ‘Up in the Sky’, ‘Digsy’s Dinner’ and ‘Bring it On Down’ before introducing the rarities and B-sides section of the set.
Liam quipped: “We’re gonna do a few old things. I know that sounds a bit naughty and a bit kinky and a bit Wayne Rooney and that, it just came out that way.”
He then sang ‘Supersonic’ B-side ‘I Will Believe’ followed by ‘Half the World Away’, which was originally sung by his estranged brother Noel Gallagher and pointedly dedicated to “no ****”.
Another two rarities followed, fan favourite ‘D’Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman?’ and ‘Fade Away’, before another nod to Noel with ‘Lock All the Doors’, a track originally recorded as an Oasis demo but best known as a single from his sibling’s High-Flying Birds solo project.
Fan excitement kicked back up a notch when Liam returned to ‘Definitely Maybe’ with ‘(It’s Good To Be Free)’ and then closed out with rousing renditions of ‘Whatever’, ‘Cigarettes + Alcohol’ and ‘Married with Children’.
The band made a brief exit from the stage but fans knew they’d be back as Liam hadn’t yet song three of the album’s biggest tracks, ‘Supersonic’, ‘Slide Away’, and ‘Live Forever’, which sounded every bit as fresh and urgent as they did 30 years ago.
Liam then briefly left the stage once more before returning for a final bow and a rendition of The Beatles’ ‘I Am the Walrus’.

Jon Bon Jovi won’t get back on stage until he ‘achieves excellence’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Bon Jovi won’t get back on stage until he “achieves excellence” as he attempts to get his voice back following surgery.
The Bon Jovi frontman has been undergoing regular therapy sessions to help him sing again following an operation on his vocal cords in 2022 and he’s admitted he won’t head back out on the road until he’s happy with his voice again.
He told Variety: “It’s a range of emotions on a daily basis. Yesterday was unbelievable. And today was less than perfection. It’s frustrating. I know that none of us can achieve perfection, but I have to achieve excellence in order for me to do it on that level again, or I won’t.”
However, Bon Jovi is adamant he’s not striving to regain the voice he had when he was younger.
He added: “I don’t want to pretend to be something I was … I don’t try to be that boy from 29 years ago, but I want to be the very best version of the 2024 version of me.”
It comes after the singer admitted he is ready to quit touring for good if he is unable to get his voice back in shape.
He told The Sunday Times newspaper: “It’s the parallel storyline, right? This is the first time I’m saying this. If the singing is not great, if I can’t be the guy I once was … then I’m done. And I’m good with that.
“There is a big difference between being in a studio and going out on the road. We have just recorded a new album. I sing in vocal therapy every day. But I want to perform for two and a half hours a night, four nights a week – and I know how good I can be, so if I can’t be that guy … put it this way, I don’t ever need to be the fat Elvis.”

‘I’m starting over’: Rihanna shares new update on R9

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna is “starting over” with her ninth album.
The ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker hasn’t released an LP since 2016’s ‘Anti’ but now she’s finally ready to get back into the studio again and plans to relisten to the music she’s worked on over the last few years and decide if any of it is still relevant or interesting to her.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I think that music, for me, is a new discovery. I’m rediscovering things. I have been working on the album for so long that I kinda put all that stuff aside and now I’m prepared to go back in the studio. I’m gonna start – give me a second!
“Yeah, I’m starting over. But I don’t want to neglect the songs that I have, so I actually want to go back and listen to stuff with new ears, with my new perspective and then see what applies and what I’m still in love with.”
The 36-year-old singer – who has sons RZA, two, and Riot, ten months, with A$AP Rocky – sparked a fan frenzy earlier this week when she was spotted in New York City wearing a t-shirt bearing the slogan ‘I’m retired’.
But Rihanna insisted fans have no need to worry.
She laughed: “People got triggered with that retired word. They were like ‘We’re never getting an album now.’ No one read the other line, it was something about, ‘This is as dressed up as I get.'”
Last week, the star’s 2012 single ‘Diamonds’ was RIAA certified Diamond and the track still means a lot to her.
She said: “Wow, I remember where we made it from the jump. It was in London, and I also remember performing ‘Diamond’ on tour.
“Performing it with all the lights…everyone puts their phone out at that very moment. And it’s connected to my grandma. I literally think of her every single time I perform that.”

Easy Life frontman Murray Matravers was ‘nervous’ to rename band Hard Life

OHMYGOSSIP — Easy Life frontman Murray Matravers was “nervous” to rename the band Hard Life.
The indie group – which consists of Sam Hewitt, Jordan Birtles, Oliver Cassidy, Lewis Alexander Berry and Murray – faced legal action from the airline group EasyJet in October, forcing the band to change their name.
However, the 28-year-old singer has now admitted he was anxious about rebranding the group due to his social background.
He told NME: “I really don’t want people to read too much into the name.
“I was nervous, because as a white, middle-class man, I haven’t exactly had a hard life. It needs to be appreciated in context.
“The first day that our manager sat us down and said, ‘Guys, there’s some legal action coming and you’re going to have to change your name’, everyone in the band unambiguously and straight away said, ‘It’s gotta be Hard Life’. That was our initial gut instinct.”
Initially, Murray admitted the band didn’t take the new name “that seriously”, but eventually settled on Hard Life because “[they] found it funny”.
He explained: “We were laughing about it and I don’t think any of us were taking it that seriously, but as time progressed we went through a million of other options and we always came back to Hard Life because we thought it was funny.
“Everyone seemed to resonate with that, and it was the most stereotypical Easy Life thing to do.”
The band have shared their new single ,‘Tears’, which marks the first release under the new moniker.
Reflecting on the track, the ‘Skeletons’ singer admitted he felt “quite uninspired” to pen new music because of the legal dispute.
He said: “For a while, I wasn’t really going to the studio because we were in this legal thing and writing music wasn’t really getting me out of it because it wasn’t an emotional issue that I could explore and try to put into music.
“So for a while I was feeling quite uninspired. Then Rob [Norton, producer and writer] and I went away for the weekend to hang out, to make pressure with low pressure.
“We made ‘Tears’ that weekend, and it was the first time I’d made music in what seemed like a very long time.
“I loved it and connected with it. I got into this flow state, like when you’re sat in a sofa at a house party at 3am just chatting absolute s***. I had that same energy making this.
“I knew it was good and that it meant something to me. As soon as I’d made it, I knew I wanted it to be the first thing I put out.”

Raye hopes new song Genesis helps others embrace their imperfections

OHMYGOSSIP — Raye hopes her latest track ‘Genesis’ will help listeners embrace their imperfections.
The 26-year-old BRIT Award-winning star released the single last week and has revealed she is using the song to urge people to accept their insecurities.
During an appearance on the ‘Capital XTRA Evening Show with Kamilla Rose’, she said: “I just wanted to be really transparent and really open on it.
“And we all think these things and we’re all kind of battling with these things in our head. And I’ll be the first to say who I am now, so I put this song out.
“I’ll take a picture and be like, ‘Oh it would be better if I was sucked in a little bit more’, or, ‘If my jaw looked a little bit less square in this angle.’
“It’s just insecurities that we all feel about ourselves and stuff like that, so I think it’s also quite liberating being so open about that.
“Because then it’s like, ‘Yeah, sometimes I edit my pictures, and?’
“It feels nice to say it.”
When she released the single, the ‘Escapism’ hitmaker said the seven-minute track was “as raw as [she] could find myself to be”.
In a statement, she explained: “There is a Nina Simone quote, ‘It is an artist’s duty to reflect the times.’ This quote is everything to me and I believe the best way I can try to do this is through my art and my music.
“There is so much darkness and pain in this world we live in, and I wanted to create something both as deeply personal and as raw as I could find myself to be about my own mind and the world I see around me.”
She added: “The song is a seven-minute piece that I have crafted and scrutinised over the last year and a half, experimenting with different genres and sonic expressions, beneath all the layers and the lyrics, the underlying message is ‘Let There Be Light’.
“It is a prayer and a plea and a cry for help, and I really hope this song will be able to bring some hope, the way this music does for me, to those who need it most.”

Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes says new album will explore his ‘path of healing’

OHMYGOSSIP — Bring Me The Horizon’s new album will explore frontman Oli Sykes’ “path of healing”.
The metalcore band – completed by Lee Malia, 40, Mat Nicholls and Matt Kean, both 38 – surprise released their second LP in their ‘Post Human’ series in May, ‘Nex Gen’, which was delayed and came out following the departure of keyboardist, backing vocalist and producer, Jordan Fish, 37, in December.
Whilst it’s early days, Oli says the third entry will follow on from ‘Nex Gen’, which revolved around his return to rehabilitation after he fell back on drugs during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the departure of Jordan.
The 37-year-old rocker told NME: “I’ve realised that what I’ve been doing for years is building this world in my head and not telling anyone about it. That narrative is going to feed into the next one and I don’t want to give it all away because the way the record ends for me personally is realising that I’ve got to leave.”
When asked to clarify what he meant by “leave”, the singer explained: “I’ve got to end a lot of relationships, I’ve got to leave my own country, I’ve got to get away and I’ve got to kind of kill apart of myself.
“I realise that I can’t heal in the place that made me sick.
“That’s why that last song on the record [‘Dig It’] feels a bit like a suicide note or a good letter, because it’s a bittersweet ending of realising that I’m fully on this path of healing now, but it’s going to mean I’ve got to kill part of myself.”
While Oli admitted it was “a bit too soon” to share exact details of the record, the ‘Kool Aid’ star explained he had the arc of the record planned out.
He said: “It kind of leaves it on a cliffhanger, in a way.
“This record has turned into such a bigger beast than I ever thought it would do, so it’s a bit too soon to tell you exactly where it’s going to go.
“I’ve got an idea of not only what the next record sounds like but where it is – and it’s not in a good place. But it’s all to play for.
“It’s going to be four records, and this will be that third act – usually where things go south. We’ll see – anything could change.”
