Idris Elba eyes duet with rapper Doja Cat

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba would love to work with rap sensation Doja Cat.
The ‘Hijack’ actor, 51, is also a keen DJ and musician and would love to get to do a song with the ‘Paint The Town Red’ hitmaker, 28, one day.
Putting the feelers out, he told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I’d really like to work with Doja Cat, she’s amazing. I’d also like to work with Black Coffee, he’s amazing. Mark Ronson, too.”
On the power of music uniting people regardless of their age or background, he said in a short film for vodka brand GREY GOOSE: “Everyone speaks different languages, are different ages, but as soon as you play music, it’s just one frequency.”
Idris recently said he “throws everything” he’s got into his music.
The ‘Luther’ star spends hours “fine tuning” his tracks to perfect them.
Speaking when he entertained guests at the official GREY GOOSE Altius launch party at a private villa at the hills of Cap Martinet, Ibiza in May, he said: “I throw everything into my music, refining it and fine tuning it, until it hits right. That’s the same vibe I get with Grey Goose Altius.
“The dedication, the attention to detail —it’s about the craft in every drop, which is exactly what you want, when you’re celebrating something real.”
Idris famously DJed at the wedding reception of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
Asked if he ever got paid for the gig, he said during an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’: “No! No, but it was my gift to my friends. I can’t afford anything [so I said] ‘Can I just DJ?!’…
“Weddings are great and I hadn’t DJ a wedding for a long time and that was fun. I was having a great time.”
And it seemed the ‘Molly’s Game’ actor had to stick to a strict playlist.
Asked if he played anything by Queen to get Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, on the dancefloor, he said: “It wasn’t on the playlist. I played some Dr. Dre.”
To mark the launch of GREY GOOSE Altius, the new luxury vodka inspired by the rare natural luxuries of the French Alps, Idris has revealed the summer anthem ‘Pushing On’.
Stream the tune on Spotify now and experience the taste of GREY GOOSE Altius in select clubs and bars around the world.

Kylie Minogue, Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo tease collab

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue, Bebe Rexha, and Tove Lo have teased a collaboration.
The trio of pop stars shared a video of them answering the same call from “Mom” as Kylie’s voice is heard singing “la la la la la la la la la.”
A voice then says: “Hi.”
Fans believe the tune is called ‘MOM’ or ‘My Oh My’.
It wouldn’t be the first time Kylie, 56, has teamed up with Tove Lo, 36, as she previously added her vocals to her tune ‘Really Don’t Like U’ on her 2019 LP ‘Sunshine Kitty’.
In a previous interview with The Sun newspaper, Tove recalled: “I met her once in 2018 and she was like, ‘Actually, I would love to work with you.’
“I made a note of, ‘OK, next record.’
“It was also about having a song where I felt I could reach out and it would be her vibe.
“That song needs to have a sexy, sweet voice on it.
“I wanted to have an icon on this album.
She added some really cool melodies, and she is so lovely and cool and sweet.
“I could talk about her for two hours.”
However, she has never worked with 34-year-old Bebe.
Kylie’s latest collaboration with ‘Midnight Ride’ with Orville Peck.
Meanwhile, the ‘La La La’ hitmaker – who released the acclaimed LP ‘Tension’ last year – is said to be writing her autobiography.
The ‘Padam Padam’ hitmaker has reportedly decided now is the right time to put pen to paper and look back on her life with the help of a ghostwriter after finishing her Las Vegas residency and scooping a Lifetime Achievement award at the BRITs earlier this year, because she is at the “pinnacle” of her career.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Kylie is at the pinnacle of her career and now feels like the perfect time to write about her life and relive some memories.
“She’ll reveal some new anecdotes and stories and dig out some snaps from her archive.
“She will cover her music, TV and film roles, and of course her love life. The finished product is sure to incite a bidding war among publishers.”
The pop idol – who is currently single – recently signed a deal with Netflix for a fly-on-the wall documentary.

BTS star Jin ‘drowned out emotions’ at first gig post-military service

OHMYGOSSIP — BTS star Jin felt a “nervous excitement” before his first post-military service performance – and “drowned out” his “emotions” onstage.
The day after he was discharged from his mandatory army stint last month, as part of the South Korean boy band’s ‘Festa’ celebrations, Jin treated fans to a performance of the never-heard-before extended version of his solo song ‘Super Tuna’.
And he has since confessed he was on the brink of bursting into tears but didn’t want to show his fans how “emotional” he was feeling.
He told the Weverse Magazine: “When you’re in the army, there’s a lot of restrictions in place, and none of the stuff you have is your own, which isn’t always easy.
“But once I was onstage, I had my fans in front of me, my own mic and in-ears, and everything about it felt just the way I remembered. It felt like I was home.”
He added: “The fans might not want to hear this, but I tried really hard not to let the feeling sink in.
“I mean, it was the very next day after I got out of the army. I didn’t have much time to practise, and it’d been forever since I last sang.”
The eldest member of the K-pop group – also comprising RM, 29, Suga 31, Jung Kook, 26, J-Hope, 30, V, 28, and Jimin, also 28 – said: “I had to put on a good show for the fans, so I couldn’t let myself get choked up to the point I couldn’t sing.”
Jin, 31, also promised he is working hard to get his solo album “done fast”.
He said: “Fortunately, the guys all finished making their own albums before enlisting, and now Jimin’s is coming out. That made me think I better not wait too long to release mine after his is out, so I’m working to get it done fast.”
The music star – whose real name is Kim-Seok-jin – had been working as an assistant drill instructor at a training facility in the country.
Upon his return, he hugged 1,000 fans at a special event.

Courteeners return with first new music in four years

OHMYGOSSIP — Courteeners have unveiled their seventh studio album, ‘Pink Cactus Café’, and declared: “This is the new us.”
The Manchester rockers have kicked off their new era by sharing the lead single, ‘Solitude Of The Night Bus’, which is about “the soul’s quest for clarity amidst loneliness.”
The tongue-in-cheek tune was penned when the band was suffering from impostor syndrome.
Frontman Liam Fray, 39, said in a statement: “This came at a time of real questioning. Things weren’t going particularly well. No confidence. No direction. I think that’s why – whisper it – it’s on the fun side. This is the new us. I’d previously worked with Ola [Modupe-Ojo] on ‘Hanging Off Your Cloud’ and, like then, there was just a magic in the room that was irresistible. It’s a summer breeze. But it’s a winter’s night. Either way, sometimes you have to block out the noise. My late Uncle Pat loved a whistle so it’s a bit of a homage to him. Get on the bus; headphones in; go your own way. It’s the feel good, imposter syndrome hit of the summer.”
The full record is set to follow on October 25.
It boasts features from Aussie rockers DMA’s on ‘The Beginning Of The End’, Scottish singer-songwriter Brooke Combe on ‘Sweet Surrender’, and indie star Pixey appears on ‘First Name Terms’.
It marks the group’s first new music since 2020’s ‘More. Again. Forever.’ LP
In 2023, the reissue of their debut album ‘St. Jude’ reached No 1 in the UK Album Charts.
Catch Courteeners live at TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow on Saturday, July 13, Boardmasters in Newquay on August 9, and Victorious Festival in Southsea on August 24.

Laura Marling to release new album in October about family life

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Marling will release the deeply personal album, ‘Patterns in Repeat’, on October 25.
The follow-up to 2020’s ‘Song For Our Daughter’ was penned after the birth of her little girl in 2023, and “finds Laura reflecting on the patterns at play in the constellation of a family.”
A press release continues: “The songs are grounded in a very specific and revelatory time in her life, diving deeper into her reckoning with the ideas and behaviours we endure through family over generations.
“It follows on from her acclaimed record about the “nonsensical experience of trauma and an enduring quest to understand what it is to be a woman in this society.”
In a lengthy statement, the 34-year-old folk singer-songwriter said of the collection: “Over the course of nine months, I had happily prepared myself for the fact that my life as a songwriter would be put on hold while I adjusted to life as a new parent. How delighted then was I to discover that for the first few months of a baby’s life, you can bounce them in a bouncer and play guitar all day. For the first time in my life, I was able to gaze into another human’s eyes as I wrote. Of course, new parents feel like they discovered that feeling – one of the very finest that life has to offer, of looking into the eyes of your child and feeling the enormity of the picture as a whole, the enormity of a precarious life, celestial, fragile and extraordinary, taking its place among the comparatively banal constellation of a family. This banal constellation seems to have dominated the writing of Patterns in Repeat – the drama of the domestic sphere, the frail threads that bind a family together, the good intentions we hold onto for our progeny and the many and various ways they get lost in time. So much complexity in the banal, the caged, the everyday.
“Being as I am, 34 years old, now 15 years and 8 albums into a life in song, I am unable to escape the fact that each record has served as a time-stamped chapter of my life (though some have appeared more a premonition). Now, here we are, following a youth spent desperately trying to understand what it is to be a woman, I am at the brow of the hill, with an entirely new and enormous perspective surrounding me.”
The lead single, ‘Patterns’, is out now.
Other songs include: ‘Child of Mine’, ‘Your Girl’, ‘No One’s Gonna Love You Like I Can’, ‘The Shadows’, ‘Caroline’, ‘Looking Back’, ‘Lullaby’, and the album’s title track.
Laura is set to support the record by playing two intimate live residencies in London and New York.
She will make London’s Hackney Church her home on November 29, 30, 1 and 2. Laura will also play two nights in New York on November 11 and 12 at the legendary Bowery Ballroom.
Tickets for the live residency dates go on sale on July 19, 10am local time. Pre-order ‘Patterns in Repeat’ now via all major platforms and record stores.

Sam Smith re-records Stay With Me with new lyrics for 10th anniversary

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith has re-recorded ‘Stay With Me’ with updated lyrics for the show’s 10th anniversary.
The 32-year-old singer – who came out as non-binary in 2019 and uses they/them pronouns – is working on a new version of their debut album ‘In The Lonely Hour’ to mark 10 years since its release.
In a letter to their fans, Sam said: “When me, Jimmy and Tourist wrote this song, none of us would’ve expected it to become what it has in the world.
“I will never forget Will (Tourist) playing those three chords on the piano. I stopped everything I was doing and said ‘what is that’.
“Those chords and this song still stir me in the same way to this day. I’ve never once got sick of singing it.
“The meaning of this song changes for me whenever I sing it. The words ‘Stay With Me’ can mean a million different things and follow me throughout my life like an old friend. (sic)”
Sam described the song as “truly so special to me”, and confirmed the line “I’m just a man” will be changed to “baby understand”, having made several reworks in live performances over the years.
They continued: “This song is truly so special to me, so for the 10 year anniversary I re-recorded the track, which will be available on all platforms and physical, including the updated lyric ‘but I still need love, baby understand’ which felt really important to me.
“It’s beautiful to know that sometimes, we can change the past.”
The album – which also featured the singles ‘Money On My Mind’ and ‘I’m Not The Only One’ – hit number one in the UK when it was released in May 2014, while it landed at number two in the US Billboard 200 the following month.
The 10th anniversary edition will be released on August 2.

The Killers pause London show to screen England’s historic Euro 2024 win

OHMYGOSSIP — The Killers paused their London show to allow fans to watch England reach the Euro 2024 final.
The US rockers were performing their penultimate gig of a six-date residency at London’s The O2 on Wednesday night (10.07.24), when they stopped the performance 10 songs in to enable gig-goers to see the Three Lions defeat Netherlands 2-1 in the semi-final.
Straight after England had secured victory courtesy of Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins’ last-minute strike, The Killers launched into a pulsating version of their megahit ‘Mr. Brightside’.
In a post on their official Instagram account, The Killers wrote: “Tonight we played for England”
During the show, drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. wore an England football shirt to show his support to the Three Lions.
In May, ‘Mr. Brightside’ – which was written after frontman Brandon Flowers discovered his girlfriend was cheating on him – became the UK’s biggest single of all time yet to reach number one.
The 2004 indie pop anthem originally peaked at number 10 in the singles charts when it was released 20 years ago, but it has become an iconic track across the UK.
Now, Official Charts has confirmed the song is now “the longest-running Top 100 hit” in its history, making it the biggest top 10 hit of all time.
With combined UK sales and streams of 5.57 million, the song has overtaken Oasis hit ‘Wonderwall’ to take the record.
The Killers told Official Charts: “Thank you so much to all our fans for making ‘Mr. Brightside’ the third biggest song of all time in the UK, and the biggest ever not to have reached Number 1; not yet at least!
“This Top 10 Award means a lot to us, ‘Mr. Brightside’ has been completely embraced by the British public and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all on the road. Thank you for supporting us. See you soon!”
Official Charts chief executive Martin Talbot described the achievement as “a triumph of extraordinary longevity”.
He added: “It is a song which has lived with so many of us throughout the recent decades of our lives – and, for some, an entire lifetime.”

Katy Perry’s new album 143 set for September release

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry’s new album ‘143’ will be released on September 20.
The 39-year-old star made the announcement on social media as she prepares for the launch of the record’s lead single ‘Woman’s World’ on Thursday (11.07.24).
The title ‘143’ is a code for ‘I love you’ which was often used in messages sent on pagers during the 1990s.
Katy said in a statement: “I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message.”
It will mark the star’s first album since 2020’s ‘Smile’, which did not replicate the success of her previous records.
The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ hitmaker has been teasing clips from the ‘Woman’s World’ music video and has gone “all out to shock” with a risqué piece that features her as a bikini-clad scaffolder and downing whiskey.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Katy is looking and sounding the best she has in ages.
“The video goes all out to shock and remind people why she has so many hits under her belt and was at the top of her game for so long.
“It’s safe to say it’s deliberately suggestive and sexualised but the point Katy is making is that women can do anything men say they can’t.”
The ‘Firework’ singer previously described how the album will be “pure joy and fun”.
Katy told Access Hollywood: “I just have yet to make a record from a place of feeling really happy and whole and full of love.
“Sometimes artists are like, ‘Oh, that’s boring, you want to make music from kind of like a tougher place,’ but actually it’s very bright and joyful, like pure joy and fun and playful and celebratory and a party.”

Dua Lipa to walk through the crowd at Wembley Stadium gig

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa is planning to get up close and personal with her fans when she plays at Wembley Stadium.
The ‘Illusion’ hitmaker will perform at the famous London venue in June 2025 and is set to jump off the main stage and walk the full length of the crowd in a similar manner to her Glastonbury headline performance last month.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Dua still can’t believe she gets to headline Wembley Stadium.
“She wants to make it feel like a giant disco and make sure everyone has the best seat in the house.
“Walking through the crowd during one of her songs allows her to feel intimate with her fans while performing to 80,000 of them.”
Dua, 28, confirmed that she was playing Wembley last week just days after her headline slot at Worthy Farm.
She said in a statement: “There couldn’t be a better time to share this with you all! I am still flying high from the magic of headlining the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this weekend, and I am absolutely thrilled to announce I’ll be playing Wembley Stadium this time next year.”
A statement from her team added: “Today, following her electrifying headlining performance at Glastonbury, three-time Grammy and seven-time BRIT Award-winning global pop powerhouse Dua Lipa announced she will perform at London’s legendary Wembley Stadium next summer on June 20th, 2025.”
Dua earned rave reviews for her performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage and admitted that headlining the festival was the realisation of a dream.
The ‘New Rules’ hitmaker – who performed for 1 hour 45 minutes – told the crowd: “Wow, Glastonbury!
“It’s a lot to take in. Can we put the house lights on? I want to see everybody … Oh man, this is a massive, massive dream come true for me.”

‘I would love to see a healing between them’: Mick Fleetwood urges Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham to settle differences

OHMYGOSSIP — Mick Fleetwood wants to see “a healing” between former Fleetwood Mac bandmates Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.
The former couple have had a turbulent relationship over the decades which intensified when Buckingham was fired from the ‘Don’t Stop’ band in 2018 over a touring disagreement but Mick is hopeful that their differences can be resolved.
In an interview with MOJO, the 77-year-old musician said: “It’s no secret, it’s not tittle-tattle that there is a brick wall there emotionally.
“Stevie’s able to speak clearly about how she feels and doesn’t feel, as does Lindsey. But I’ll say, personally, I would love to see a healing between them – and that doesn’t have to take the shape of a tour, necessarily.”
Mick also discussed the difficulties he has gone through in recent years – including the death of bandmate Christine McVie in 2022 and the fires that destroyed his restaurant in his adopted home of Maui, Hawaii last summer.
He said: “It’s been a strange time for me. Losing sweet Christine was catastrophic. And then, in my world, sort of losing the band too. And I split with my partner as well. I just found myself sort of licking my wounds.”
Regarding the fires, Mick continued: “It was a hardcore hit for everyone on this lovely little island.
“I mean, we’re just lucky to be here – but there was a lot of terrible loss, lots of people without homes, people who were badly affected.
“(The residents of Lahania) are making progress. And people are coming back to the island, which gives us a lot of hope of coming through this. It just takes time.
“I’m even starting to think about bringing back my crazy little restaurant. It was a place where people around here would gather and commute.”

Ariana Grande plans ‘mini’ tour to support Eternal Sunshine album

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande is planning to embark on a “mini” tour.
The 31-year-old singer is determined to play some shows in support of her recent album ‘Eternal Sunshine’ and is trying to squeeze the gigs in between her work for the upcoming ‘Wicked’ films.
Speaking on the ‘Shut Up Evan’ podcast, Ariana said: “I still want it too. It would be a really lovely idea to be able to trickle some shows in between the two ‘Wicked’ films… It would be a mini little sampling of shows, I think. It’s something that my team and I are working on coming up with options for.”
The ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ singer also revealed that a deluxe edition of the album will be released, although her fans will have to wait a while to hear it.
Ariana said: “I want to let (the album) live in this current state a little while longer. (I want to) take my time to execute my vision for this deluxe and make sure that it’s worth the wait and as special as I think it can be.”
She continued: “I definitely thought this album was perfect as it was, and I still kind of feel that way.
“With time, I’ve been inspired to write more songs and inclined to do this deluxe. I’m really tempted to put a creative button on this storytelling, and I have a lot of ideas. It’s an idea that’s become something I can’t not do.”
Grande says that the delay to the deluxe issue’s release is due to her role as Glinda in the long-awaited ‘Wicked’ films.
She said of the release date: “I’ll let it be a surprise, but I wouldn’t say any time super soon.
“I’m also trying to navigate the timing of the ‘Wicked’ of it all, because I really want to give my entire self to that when it’s time to shift gears. I’m working on it constantly, and I’ll have more information on timing soon.”

The 33-year-old pop star headlined the music extravaganza in the Romanian capital on Friday night (05.07.24) playing a set packed with her biggest hits.
Rita opened with her 2019 hit ‘Ritual’ before working her way through tracks such as ‘Let You Love Me’, ‘Your Song’ and latest single ‘Ask and You Shall Receive’.
The singer closed her show with ‘Hot Right Now’, ‘Lonely Together’ and debut single ‘Anywhere’.

She previously said: “The song is full of upbeat, summery vibes and is about seizing the moment romantically, and diving straight in with that special someone.
“It was co-written by the amazing Raye, which feels like such a full circle moment, as I have so many amazing memories from when we were on the road together for the Phoenix tour.”

‘Get a life!’ Placebo hit back at critics following technical issue-plagued set

OHMYGOSSIP — Placebo have told their critics to “get a life” after they were struck with “many insults” following a recent festival performance.
The ‘Every You Every Me’ hitmakers took to Instagram to hit back at fans who have blasted them following a performance at the OpenAir St Gallen festival in Switzerland on June 30th, but Placebo, who have also noticed in-fighting among their fanbase since the show, insisted they were experiencing “unrepairable technical issues” during the gig.
Frontman Brian Molko wrote: “We have been noticing a great deal of discussion, arguments, accusations and skirmishes between our fans in relation to our truncated concert at St Gallen festival. We have also been on the receiving send of many (unimaginative and entitled) insults. So we would like to offer some clarity on what happened during our concert at St Gallen festival.
“Shortly into the set, Stefan [Olsdal] began to have technical issues until finally his guitar system ceased to function completely. So he could no long play any songs where he plays guitar. Every effort to remedy the problem by our world-class crew was taken but to no avail.
“We had the option to walk off and not come back, but we decided to take back to the stage and finish playing what we physically could: the songs where Stefan plays bass.
“We made several announcements from the stage (in German) to explain that we were experiencing temporarily unrepairable technical issues. We made this very clear from the stage several times.
“Placebo use no recordings onstage. Everything is 100 per cent live. It appears obvious that this is still insufficient for certain entitled and demanding individuals. Technical issues and truncated sets are a part and parcel aspect of live performance. And it is something no band has control over.
“If the idea of this unavoidable situation continues to enrage you regardless, we suggest that you go watch bands where most of the music coming from the stage is recorded. We also suggest you get a sense of perspective and try to take a look at this situation from a point of view that isn’t yours – if you are at all capable. This is a polite way of saying – get a life. (sic)”
Brian reminded gig-goers it is their “individual choice” whether they watch Placebo live or not.
He added: “Most aspects of our lives, in general, are actually out of our own control and though we are strong, unfortunately electricity is much more powerful than us. We are not forcing you to come to any of our shows – it’s your individual choice. Please feel free to exercise this choice in the future and please stop insulting our loyal fan base in the virtual world.
“With thanks, Brian.”

Rosa Linn felt like a rock star at Eurovision

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosa Linn felt “like a rock star” when she competed at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The 24-year-old singer was a “nobody in Armenia” when she was chosen to represent her country in 2022 with her song ‘Snap’ and though she had always dreamed of being part of the famous competition, she was amazed to get the offer when she did but delighted with what came next.
She recalled: “I was a nobody in Armenia, I was just in my room, or writing and singing in pubs, when I got the offer.
“I watched it with my family almost every year since I was eight. And it’s funny, even before I wanted to do music, I would tell my mum, I will be on that stage one day. And I did it, way earlier than I thought I would.
“I really loved everything about it. From going from nothing to suddenly being known all around Europe, around the world. You feel like a rock star.”
‘Snap’ came twentieth but the song is the most-streamed entry by a non-champion and became hugely popular around the world, including making her debut on the US Billboard Hot 100.
She noted: “The song took on a life of its own.”
Rosa was disappointed with her showing and initially didn’t thing she’d be able to stand “even going near” the piano again, but a day later she wrote two new songs.
She said: “I think it’s a part of me that will never fade. The worse I feel, the more I write.”
Rosa’s track ‘Universe’ has been recorded in Italian, French, Hindi and English and the singer – who was buoyed by the support she received when supporting Ed Sheeran on tour – is also planning to release versions in Arabic and Spanish.
She said: “The ‘Universe’ Pack is meant to address my love for languages, different cultures and music genres which drives me to create alternate versions of my songs and collaborate with other talented artists from other countries.”
Rosa took just an hour to record the verse for the Hindi version of the track, ‘Universe (Mil Jaana Tu)’ and admitted she hadn’t expected it to be so easy to pick up the pronunciation.
She said: “Funny enough it was actually easier than I thought it would be. I think we have some similar sounds in Armenian so that helped me a lot for sure. I cut the vocals in Italy, while I was on tour with my friend. I didn’t have a tutor, but I was sending Denny voice memos of every line, and we were done in an hour.”
‘Universe (Mil Jaana Tu)’ – featuring Indian singer and composer Denny – is out now, following on from the Italian, French and English versions. Listen to the ‘Universe’ pack at https://open.spotify.com/artist/46xBNx0j6cwY6sD9LgMTm1?si=tc7ID74HSNOXriN27AVPlA nd=1 dlsi=16f58002a18447f9.

Nikki Sixx hits back at Motley Crue critics

OHMYGOSSIP — Nikki Sixx has hit back at critics who poured scorn on Motley Crue’s new music.
The band released ‘Dogs of War’ in April – the band’s first new single since 2015 and their first with new guitar player John 5 – and it was met with a mixed reaction from both fans and critics but Nikki is adamant he doesn’t care what people think as he’s happy with the band’s new direction.
He told Rockklassiker: “We like the fact that there was kind of a knee-jerk reaction because at least people were listening.
“It’s a very strange time now where, whether it’s a news cycle or socials, everybody has turned into a critic.
“And I always say, they’ve never erected a statue of a critic. It’s never happened, right? It’s always the artist. But now everybody’s a critic.”
Nikki went on to add: “Within a short amount of time, we get, ‘We love it.’ ‘We hate it.’ ‘You’re over.’ ‘You’ve reinvented yourself.’ ‘It sounds like ‘Shout At The Devil’. ‘It sucks.’
“And we just kind of sit there and go, ‘That’s cool, guys, but we didn’t really ask for any input from you.’ We’re just artists writing music, and we’re pretty cool. I’m happy with it. I like it.”
Frontman Vince Neil previously insisted the song represents the band going back to their roots – calling it “classic Crue”.
He told Loudersound.com: “I think it’s classic Crue, if you go back and listen to the first record [1981 album ‘Too Fast For Love’], to me, it goes back to our roots.
“I think the fans are going to dig it. It’s a rock‘n’roll tune for partying, screamin’ and yellin’ along. That’s what Motley Crue is about anyway. It doesn’t seem like any time has passed. We’re still just a good rock ‘n’ roll band.”
Vince went on to insist adding John 5 to the line-up – replacing their longtime guitarist Mick Mars in 2022 – has helped him improve his performance.
He added: “John is such a great guitar player. People love him. The band loves him. He basically made me a better singer. I get to focus on just my singing.
“He knew all the songs before we even hired him. He can play anything. He’s an exciting, creative guitar player and he’ll definitely be involved in the new music. It’ll be really neat to listen to his ideas.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stevie Nicks will perform musical tributes to Tom Petty and Christine McVie at her BST Hyde Park show this Friday (12.07.24).
The 76-year-old singer duetted with Petty at the London festival in 2017 just months before he passed away in October, aged 66.
During her headline slot, Nicks will perform ‘Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around’, the song the pair recorded for her debut solo album ‘Bella Donna’, released in 1981. It was the track that Stevie performed with Petty seven years ago.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It was the final time Stevie saw Tom… and now she is back on the same stage so it will doubtless be a very emotional experience.”
For her encore, Nicks is to project a montage of herself with her late Fleetwood Mac bandmate as she sings ‘Landslide’.
Following McVie’s death in November 2022 at the age of 79, Nicks has claimed that Fleetwood Mac would not perform again.
In a recent interview with MOJO magazine, she said: “When Christine died, I felt like you can’t replace her. You just can’t. Without her, what is it? You know what I mean?
“There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”
Stevie’s BST Hyde Park performance comes after the singer was forced to cancel some of her tour dates after sustaining a leg injury.
The ‘Edge of Seventeen’ singer was due to play a concert at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, last Saturday (06.07.24), but had to pull out of the gig completely, as well as cancelling her show at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena – which was due to take place on Tuesday (09.07.24).
Taking to X, the OVO Hydro account wrote: “Due to a recent leg injury requiring a minor surgical procedure that will need a few days of recovery time, Stevie Nicks’ scheduled performances in Glasgow Saturday 6 July and Manchester Tuesday 9 July have been postponed.
“More information will be available at point of purchase, ticketholders are advised to hold on to their tickets as rescheduled dates will be announced soon. Stevie looks forward to seeing everyone at Hyde Park in London.”
