Eminem, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes and Saweetie will all appear on the upcoming 14-track record, which has been produced entirely by A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip.

‘THE FORCE’ is LL Cool J’s first new studio album since 2013’s ‘Authentic’ and he admitted that he had to “learn how to rap again” after his extended break.
He said: “[The process required]going back to the drawing board and learning how to rap again … making sure I was really inspired by the things I was saying. That’s why there isn’t a lot of fluff on this album. The LeBrons, the Stephs, the Jordans and the Kobes, they all go back to the drawing board, they always try to make themselves better. Kylie Minogue emotional at Hyde Park show

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue grew emotional as she reflected on how “so much has happened” to her in the nine years since she last performed in London’s Hyde Park.
The 56-year-old singer took to the stage for American Express presents BST Hyde Park on Saturday (13.07.24) night and she fought back tears as she grew overwhelmed by the 65,000-strong sell-out crowd.
After singing the title track from her latest album ‘Tension’, Kylie told the audience: “I knew you were gonna be here tonight but you still take my breath away, thank you.
“I’m really aware that it has been nine years since I played this stage. And in nine years or eight years or five years or one year or six months or one day, so much can happen, and so much has happened for me, for you, for all of us.”
As well as playing tracks from ‘Tension’, including the global smash hit ‘Padam Padam’, the former ‘Neighbours’ star treated fans to a musical journey through her career, heading right back to the early days after her career in the soap with snatches of ‘I Should Be So Lucky’, ‘Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi’, ‘Got To Be Certain’, ‘Step Back In Time’, and ‘2 Hearts’ after taking requests from the crowd.
Fans danced along to classics such as ‘Spinning Around’, ‘The Loco-Motion’, ‘Wow’ and ‘All the Lovers’, and Kylie handed out roses to a few lucky audience members before performing a brief a cappella segment of her duet with Nick Cave, ‘Where the Wild Roses Grow’.
And the Australian pop star didn’t do it all on her own as she brought Anitta – who had entertained the crowds at the Great Oak Stage with her own set earlier in the day – out to join her on ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, while during her three-song encore, Tove Lo and Bebe Rexha joined her for their new collaboration ‘My Oh My’.
Rounding off her set was ‘Love At First Sight’, with fans teaming up to sing ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ again as they walked out of the packed venue.

Katy Perry explains ‘sarcastic’ and ‘slapstick’ music video scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry has insisted a controversial scene in her ‘Woman’s World’ music video is supposed to be “slapstick” and “sarcastic”.
The 39-year-old singer returned to music with her new track earlier this week but has faced criticism for the sexualised nature of the video, in particular a moment where she and her dancers perform sexy choreography on a construction site before she is “smashed” by an anvil and returns in a new costume.
In a behind-the-scenes video shared to Instagram, Katy said of the moment: “We’re kind of just having fun, being a bit sarcastic with it. It’s very slapstick and very on the nose.
“With this set it’s like, ‘Oooh, we’re not about the male gaze, but we really are about the male gaze.’ And we’re really overplaying it and on the nose.”
The former ‘American Idol’ judge explained the anvil moment was meant as a “reset” to help her embrace the “idea of feminine divine”.
She added: “We wanted to open this video making it look like a super high-gloss pop star video.”
‘Woman’s World’ is the first single from the ‘Teenage Dream’ hitmaker’s upcoming album ‘143’, which will be released on 20 September.
The title ‘143’ is a code for ‘I love you’ which was often used in messages sent on pagers during the 1990s.
Katy said in a statement: “I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message.”
It will mark the star’s first album since 2020’s ‘Smile’, which did not replicate the success of her previous records.
The ‘Firework’ singer previously told how the album will be “pure joy and fun”.
Katy told Access Hollywood: “I just have yet to make a record from a place of feeling really happy and whole and full of love.
“Sometimes artists are like, ‘Oh, that’s boring, you want to make music from kind of like a tougher place,’ but actually it’s very bright and joyful, like pure joy and fun and playful and celebratory and a party.”

Serj Tankian could be replaced in System Of A Down

OHMYGOSSIP — Serj Tankian would be happy for System Of A Down to replace him with another singer.
The 56-year-old rocker has fronted the band since the mid-1990s but he’s not keen on touring any more so he has told his bandmates he would stand aside and let them bring in a new frontman if they wanted to continue without him.
During an appearance on the ‘Broken Record’ podcast, Serj explained: “I’ve offered them that opportunity [to replace me] and been very supportive of it for many years.
“If they wanted to do that, if they wanted to continue in a way that I didn’t – for example, if they wanted to tour a lot and I just want to do a couple of shows here and there, because I’m not into touring a lot, to be fair to them, if they wanted to do that, I’m totally open to it, still.”
However, Serj believes the rest of the group are unlikely to ever head out on the road without him.
He added: ” I’m not sure they want to do that. They haven’t until now [wanted to do it], and I think it would take something away from the prestige and legacy of the band itself, but as friends and as someone who cares very much about my partners, I would be OK with it.”
Serj recently opened up about his lack of enthusiasm for touring, admitting life on the road is “physically exhausting”.
During an interview with Rainn Wilson on YouTube, the musician explained: “I love performing [but] I think when you do a long tour, it’s not just physically exhausting, but it’s artistically redundant after a while, repeating the same thing.
“That’s why we’re really enjoying doing these one-offs [shows]. They’re special events, special occasions. We can’t do them everywhere. We can’t do them all the time. But performing becomes fun again in a way.”

Charli XCX confesses she doesn’t see herself making music ‘for ever’

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX has confessed she doesn’t “envisage” herself “making music for ever”.
The ‘Girl, so confusing’ singer might be riding high with the cultural phenomenon that is her ‘Brat’ album, but she has admitted she is keen to “flex my creative areas” in “other areas”.
Charli, 31, is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying: “I would like to flex my creative muscles on other areas. I don’t envisage myself making music for ever.
“Maybe I will in some capacity, but I just feel like there are other creative areas I really want to explore.”
One way she is branching out is with her upcoming role in the remake of 1970s cult horror ‘Faces Of Death’.
She said of her debut acting gig: “I was a fan of the original movie.
“I saw that this film was being remade by a director, Daniel Goldhaber. We met and we spoke, and he was like, ‘You should be in it’. I was like, ‘Wow, that’s crazy’.
“I really got the bug from that.”
The film will follow a similar format to the original as it’s set to be presented like a documentary detailing the most horrific murders of the time. While most of the footage is staged, the use of real footage proved controversial and led to it being banned in multiple countries.
Days ago, the ‘Boom Clap’ hitmaker teased that her ‘Brat’ era is only just getting started.
The ‘360’ singer had a neon green wall in Brooklyn, which promoted her latest album, and it was changed to read “ok, bye”.
The message sparked speculation that Charli was moving on from ‘Brat’, but she confirmed that is far from the case.
She responded on X: “brat summer is only just beginning [smiley face]. (sic)”
There was also hearsay that she could be set to drop a ‘Brat’ remix album.
The chart-topper used the wall to announce the deluxe addition of the LP, which boasted three additional tracks.

1990s boyband A1 reveal Eurovision wish

OHMYGOSSIP — A1 want to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The boyband – which consists of Ben Adams, Paul Marazzi, Christian Ingebrigtsen and Mark Read – achieved a string of hits in the late 1990s including ‘Take On Me’ and ‘Same Old Brand New You’ but have believe they’ve got the perfect song to represent the UK in the international competition.
Ben told the Daily Star’s Hot TV column: “It would be amazing to represent the UK. Eurovision is watched by so many people and it has been a massive launch pad for so many acts.
“We’ve got a song on our next album that I think would be flipping perfect for the UK to have. Hopefully somebody gets in contact.”
Ben represented Norway in 2022 along with Gaute Ormåsen as a part of pop band Subwoolfer but also noted that the annual event – which has taken place for almost 70 years – has gained traction in the UK since ‘Space Man’ singer Sam Ryder placed second that year.
He added: “Fans in the UK are starting to appreciate Eurovision after the success Sam Ryder in 2022. The UK is catching up to the rest of Europe. It has become bigger and bigger. I’ve got the Eurovision bug. I love it.”
The pop star also has the support of his A1 bandmates on the idea of entering the competition.
Mark said: “I would love us to do the contest. To be able to do it would be one of the highlights of our career!”
Even Christian – who is from Norway – is keen to represent the UK if given the chance.
He said: “I’ve been saying to the others for a while that Eurovision is a big thing and we should consider doing it.

Taylor Swift made light of her piano malfunction in Milan

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift suffered a piano glitch when she brought her ‘Eras Tour’ to Milan.
The 34-year-old pop superstar was performing a mashup of ‘Getaway Car’ and ‘Out of the Woods’ at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday (14.07.24) – but her piano wasn’t having it.
She quipped in a clip from the moment shared to TikTok: “We have finally broken this thing.”
Fortunately, a crew member managed to fix the instrument, and after she finished her performance, she closed the lid and said: “Oh, I did it!”
Taylor recently shared how she has had “so many firsts” on the ‘Eras’ tour.
The Grammy winner wrote on Instagram: “The Eras Tour has brought so many firsts with it… for example, I’d never been to Switzerland before. This place is stunningly beautiful and I loved playing for those 2 wonderful crowds in Zurich. Pretty wild to think we only have 7 cities left on the European leg of the tour. Up next is a city I’ve been looking forward to playing for so long: Milan!!”
Meanwhile, Taylor is wanted for a collaboration with Nelly Furtado.
The ‘I’m Like a Bird’ hitmaker, 45, got Australian EDM star Dom Dolla, 32, to produce the unnamed track she penned with Taylor in mind, who happens to be friends with the ‘Love Story’ hitmaker’s NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce, also 34.
Speaking on ‘Extra’, she spilled: “I have a song for Taylor.
“Dom is friends with Travis, so let’s get it poppin’! We want Taylor on it!”
Nelly presented the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker with the Song of the Year prize for ‘Anti-Hero’ at the 2023 MTV VMA Awards, and she found it so “surreal” that she is a fan of her music.
She said: “It’s kind of surreal for me.
“I take these long breaks away from music and sometimes I feel like a music librarian trapped in a pop star’s body, so every time I come back out from the woods, I’m like ‘I’m back from the woods! I’m back from my cave!’
“I meet other artists and they like my music, like a Taylor Swift, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh f***, that’s cool!
“‘Really, you were singing my song at a party?’ You kind of forget that you’ve been around awhile.”
She gushed: “She’s an icon!
“That it’s such a beautiful flow of life to know that your songs made an impact 20 years later Because you second guess yourself and you go, ‘Oh, maybe it was just a thing, a trend.’ But then when you see new generations enjoying your music, it becomes very real.”

Coldplay play Good Feelings live for first time

OHMYGOSSIP — Coldplay debuted ‘Good Feelings’ live at their Rome concert.
Chris Martin and co played the Stadio Olimpico in Vatican City on Friday (12.07.24) and fans were treated to a performance of the track that was originally said to be a collaboration with The Chainsmokers.
The 47-year-old frontman sings: “We fell in love in the summer/I remember baby, we felt the sun shine through/And we were born for each other.
“All the good feelings, for one another/As we danced to the radio.”
The track is also produced by Max Martin like the lead single from their upcoming LP ‘Moon Music’.
The rock band shared the euphoric new song, ‘feelslikeimfallinginlove’, last month, after debuting the tune live in Hungary.
The sweet track sees Chris – whose partner is 34-year-old ‘Fifty Shades’ actress Dakota Johnson – sing about his lover: “Oh, it feels like
“I’m fallin’ in love/Maybe for the first time/ Baby, it’s my mind you blow…”
‘Moon Music’ is due for release on October 4, 2024.
The eco-conscious rock band are releasing the record on vinyl made from recycled plastic bottles.
A special copy boasts 70 per cent river plastic, taken from the Rio Las Vacas in Guatemala, with the ‘Yellow’ hitmakers claiming that will reduce the record’s carbon footprint by 85 per cent.
It comes after Coldplay recently thanked fans after they were able to cut their tour emissions by 47 per cent so far amid their ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’, compared to their 2016 and 2017 jaunt.
The group had previously vowed not to tour again until they could reduce their footprint.

Geezer Butler hails The Beatles for inspiring ‘whole explosion of British pop music’

OHMYGOSSIP — Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler says The Beatles “were a massive influence”.
The 74-year-old bassist and primary lyricist of the iconic heavy metal group – which formed in 1968 – has hailed the legendary Liverpool group for inspiring a “whole explosion of British pop music” in the Swinging Sixties and beyond.
He told Michigan radio station WRKR: “They were a massive influence, because there was nobody else like them at the time.
“And up until then, it was, like, my brothers were into like Elvis [Presley] and Eddie Cochran and Buddy Holly, that kind of thing. And there was no real English [rock bands].
“All the English rock and rollers were trying to sound American and copy of an American [band], and they never succeeded. And then when the Beatles came along, they had a completely original sound.”
Geezer added: “And they were all literally from Liverpool, which is 90 miles from where we were born. And it just gave us some hope that British musicians could actually become successful.
“And as soon as the Beatles were successful, then you had The Rolling Stones and The Kinks and The Who, Herman’s Hermits, a whole explosion of British pop music.”
In fact, it was the ‘Let it Be’ hitmakers that inspired frontman Ozzy Osbourne, 75, to become a musician.
He previously recalled: “I come from the backstreets of Aston in Birmingham, and it wasn’t a very cool place when I was growing up. I used to sit on my doorstep and think: ‘How the hell am I going to get out of here?’”
The ‘Paranoid’ hitmaker continued: “I knew I was going to be a rock star the rest of my life.
“My son [Jack, 38] always says to me: ‘What was it like when The Beatles happened?’ All I can really say to him is, ‘Imagine going to bed in one world, and then waking up in another that’s so different and exciting that it makes you feel glad to be alive.’”
He gushed: “The Beatles are my favourites, you know. When I met Paul McCartney, it was the highlight of my life. I was so surprised at how nice he was. And I also met Ringo Starr … What a great bloke. The thing about The Beatles was they always had the best melodies. All I’ve tried to do in my career is put a melody to a dark riff.”

AURORA wants to work with more metal bands

OHMYGOSSIP — AURORA wants to work with French metal band Gojira after collaborating with Bring Me The Horizon.
The 28-year-old Norwegian pop star loves her heavy metal and was thrilled to feature on teen heroes BMTH’s track ‘Limousine’ from their latest offering ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’, and she is keen to do more metal features.
In an interview with The Forty-Five, she said: “I really want to do more heavy metal music. I really want to work with French metal band Gojira. I like [drum and bass star] Nia Archives, I want her to do something with me. I think we could do something really beautiful.”
In a recent interview with NME, frontman Oli Sykes, 37, said the ‘Runaway’ hitmaker is “what a pop star should be”.
He explained: “AURORA for me is what a pop star should be, what the next wave of pop stars should look like; someone that has the songs but is a real person who dares to speak what they believe in, who gives a s*** about the world.”
Although the ‘Kool Aid’ singer likes Dua Lipa, 28, he fears a lot of mainstream pop stars are “sticking to” the same themes.
He said: “I do sometimes get the sense of, ‘How many times can you sing about a lover not being good enough?’ I do find that with a lot of pop albums: you’ve found the thing that makes you big and you’re sticking to it.
“With AURORA, it’s like a constant desire to be something more, to push pop and use that platform for good. She is what the next generation of pop stars will look like. The younger generation will want something with something tangible, something with actual substance, you know.”

Shania Twain bounces on a trampoline before gigs

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain warms up for gigs by bouncing on a trampoline.
The ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ singer explained how she gets ready for performances by jumping up and down as the exercise “drops the vocals”.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column ahead of her BST Hyde Park gig on Sunday (07.07.24), Shania said: “I love to warm up with my little mini trampoline. I travel with that a lot. I jump on it and it drops the vocals.
“It just lets everything go. I need that little bit of space for a mini trampoline.”
Shania, 58, has enjoyed a busy few weeks after performing in the Glastonbury Festival’s Legends slot last month and is pleased to see that country music is trendy again.
She said: “Country music has kinda come back around in fashion, right? I don’t care if they’re cowboy boots, Wellington boots, we’re going to do some s***-kicking right now!”
The ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’ artist had career-saving vocal surgery in 2018 and accepts that her singing voice has been permanently altered by the procedure.
Shania explained: “It took a lot of retraining and a lot of physiotherapy in order to sing on stage live.
“Now, I sing differently. It might sound a bit more technical but where I was in falsetto before, now I am in full voice. I have two Gore-Tex crutches in there (the throat).
“It’s like learning how to walk again after you’ve had a structural reinforcement in there, and you have to accept you’re never going to sing in the same way. It’s physically different.”
However, Shania’s warm-up has been made considerably easier by the surgery.
She said: “Before the operation, singing was a lot more work, I couldn’t sing anything without serious two hours of warm-up. Now, I can do a 20-minute warm-up like everyone else, it’s much more manageable now.”

‘It would be quite nice to do it on my own’: Melanie C eyes solo Glastonbury slot

OHMYGOSSIP — Melanie C wants to play Glastonbury solo.
The Spice Girls star made a surprise appearance during Orbital’s set at the festival last month and is determined to play another show at Worthy Farm alone after her 2023 performance.
Melanie is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying: “It would be quite nice to do it my own. I will have some new music out next year. I’ve only done it once myself, last year. The year before I had DJ’d.”
The 50-year-old star admits that a solo slot at Glastonbury would be a good alternative to the “ultimate” goal of reuniting with Spice Girls bandmates Geri Horner, Mel B, Victoria Beckham and Emma Bunton for a performance at the world-famous festival.
Melanie explained: “There’s room for both me and the girls, but with them it would be the ultimate. There’s nothing I would like more than to do it with the Spice Girls… but while they’re making their mind up, I could! The girls have never been at Glastonbury because it didn’t do pop in the Nineties.”
The star revealed earlier this year that she would love to reunite with the Spice Girls but dismissed Mel B’s claims that the ‘Wannabe’ hitmakers were on the brink of a comeback.
During an appearance on the ‘Sidetracked’ podcast, Melanie explained: “Mel, I adore her and she has this thing, and it can sometimes get us into hot water.
“Of course we’re always talking, we’d love to do something else.
“I’d love to get back on stage with the girls but everybody wants to do something a little bit different or in a different way, so it’s just trying to get everyone on the same page at the same time.
“But Melanie likes to manifest things and she thinks if she says it enough, it will happen.
“I can’t confirm that there is anything happening soon but we’re always talking about opportunities.”

AJ Tracey has ‘big features’ included on his new album

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Tracey has promised “big features” on his upcoming album.
The ‘Ladbroke Grove’ rapper has confirmed that his third album will be released later this year and he has collaborated with those “who sound good on the record”.
Speaking on Capital XTRA, AJ said: “Album’s coming out before the end of the year. Before I was a bit hesitant to say that, because it wasn’t finished. But now it is basically finished.”
Quizzed on what fans should expect from the forthcoming record, he said: “Good features, but I will say that it’s not all about the features. It’s about me, actually. Nah, big up the features though, they killed it, yeah. But obviously, do you get it, the majority of the work is me.
“A few features but they’re curated – I haven’t picked all my bredrins who are the most lit, I’ve just picked people who sound good on the record. So, it’s sonic, you know what I’m saying? At the end of the day – and that’s no shade on no one else – like, the big features, they matter, innit?”
AJ continued: “But I think it’s more about making sure that the sound is cohesive and making sure that when people hear it they’re like, ‘Oh, these lot had fun making this record.’ Like, there’s a meaning behind it, rather than, ‘Oh, they’re both lit and they just kind of…’ You know what I’m saying? Butted heads.”
The 30-year-old rapper explained that the “funky” new LP is inspired by his upbringing in Britain.
He said: “I can give you the theme. The theme is just being British – my British experience – what it means to be British. Me growing up, I listened to funky, so this rhythm is like a little funky reference; grime obviously, dancehall, like, whatever my influences are as a black British person, is going to be what the album sounds like.”

Fran Healy doubts that the new Travis album will top the charts

OHMYGOSSIP — Travis frontman Fran Healy doesn’t expect the band’s new album to top the charts.
The ‘Flowers in the Window’ hitmakers are releasing their latest record ‘L.A . Times’ on Friday (12.07.24) and Fran knows that it is unlikely to eclipse Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ in the race for top spot.
Fran said on stage at London’s O2 Arena recently: “Usually when bands are 50 years old, albums get s***.
“This is not a s*** record. It is a really, really great record, but there is absolutely no chance we are going to knock Taylor Swift off No1, is there? Not unless you all help us.”
Fran jokingly added: “Can you buy it? Does anyone actually buy records anymore?”
‘L.A. Times’ marks the first new album for the Scottish group since ’10 Songs’ in 2020 and Fran revealed that it is the band’s most personal album since they released their breakthrough record ‘The Man Who’ back in 1999.
The 50-year-old musician said: “‘L.A . Times’ is our most personal album since ‘The Man Who’. There was a lot of big stuff to write about back then, the tectonic plates had shifted in my life. I was 22 when I was writing those songs. They were my therapy. Over 20 years later and the plates have shifted again. There’s a lot to talk about.”
The album’s lead single ‘Gaslight’ was released in March and Fran explained that it addresses how people’s lives are controlled by others.
He said: “I read a few weeks ago that gaslighting was the most web searched word in the world. We are living in a time where our realities are being warped by bosses, leaders, friends, teachers and politicians. It really is everywhere.
“Gaslighters want to control you. They tell you things which undermine your confidence in yourself and make you question reality and it makes you feel like you’re going crazy.”

Clean Bandit still sitting on Sir Elton John collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Clean Bandit have yet to release a song they recorded with Sir Elton John “a long time ago”.
The ‘Rockabye’ hitmakers have a “huge catalogue” of material they have recorded but kept under wraps, including collaborations with both the ‘Tiny Dancer’ singer and Sam Smith.
Grace Chatto told Principle magazine: “We’ve got one with Sam Smith and one with Elton John, which we made a long time ago, but most of them don’t have the artists singing on them, because we tend to write with a songwriter/lyricist.
“So most of the demos don’t have [singers] – normally it’s the final stage when we consider who’s going to sing this.
“But the one that Sam Smith we wrote together, and the one with Elton we wrote together.
“That’s always really cool when the singers are writers as well because it’s much more of an organic process for them than when we DM people saying, ‘Do you want to sing this?’ And then it’s a bit hit and miss, whether the lyrics will resonate with them or not.”
The trio have previously worked with the likes of Jess Glynne, Anne-Marie, Zara Larsson and Demi Lovato, but Grace explained they try not to go into the songwriting process with a particular vocalist in mind.
She said: “Normally DMing is how we do it. We normally think about the voice after.
“When we try and write for a specific voice, it always ends up being a kind of pastiche of what we think they might like, whereas if we just make the song in a pure way for how the song’s supposed to be, and then just listen to it, it’s quite quick to hear who would sound good. It’s normally just Rihanna.”
Fans of the ‘Symphony’ group will have some time to wait before they get to see them in action again.
Grace said: “We’re creating a really exciting new show at the moment.
“But we’re not going to be performing in the UK and Europe this summer, because we’re focusing on making music videos, and songs.
“Probably towards the end of this year, we’ll do one special performance in London. And then next year, we’ll be touring again.”

Pearl Jam felt like they had a ‘near-death experience’

OHMYGOSSIP — Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder says the group’s recent health scare felt like a “near-death experience”.
The ‘Alive’ rockers were forced to shelve a series of shows in Berlin and London due to band illness, and whilst performing in Barcelona, Spain over the weekend, the 59-year-old singer opened up on the “frightening” ordeal that left himself and other members of the crew feeling breathless and fearing they wouldn’t make it out alive.
He told the audience: “Can I just say that the last week, it almost felt like a near-death experience. It was very uncomfortable, and it got frightening. It felt like chest bronchitis. It felt like maybe you couldn’t breathe, and maybe you wouldn’t make it through the night, and maybe you’d have to go to the hospital.”
He continued: “You just realise how precious this life is. How lucky we are to have been living on a planet where we can go around and play to incredible people like the people in this room here tonight. So, it was a poignant experience. I won’t be forgetting it anytime soon. And we won’t be forgetting tonight anytime soon.”
There has been chatter on the internet suggesting the Grunge legends cancelled the shows due to poor ticket sales, but fans have defended them after hearing his speech.
One X user wrote: “I just listened to the audio from Ed’s speech talking about his illness. Haven’t seen it pop up on YouTube yet, but I’ll share when I do. If you listen to this and are still convinced that they canceled due to tickets sales, then I have absolutely nothing to say to you. (sic)”
In a typed-out statement apologising for the Berlin concert cancellations last week, they said: “The impacts of this decision are not lost on us. We feel deeply that so many people spend their time, money, and emotional energy to get tickets and then to come see the band and it is heart-wrenching to have to disappoint you.”
The band had already axed their London Tottenham Hotspur Stadium gig on June 29 due to band sickness.
Eddie has previously been forced to cancel shows due to vocal and throat damage.
The group still have their North America and Australia and New Zealand legs ahead of them.
