Christina Aguilera to work with Sabrina Carpenter’s producers

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Aguilera is said to want to “channel” the “magic” Sabrina Carpenter created by working with the ‘Espresso’ hitmaker’s producers.
The ‘Fighter’ hitmaker, 43, has been working on her first English language album since 2018’s ‘Liberation’, and now it’s been claimed she has been inspired by the 25-year-old pop star’s genre-hopping pop hits.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Christina is ready to return to the mainstream and wants to make an album which feels like the ultimate girls’ night out.
“She is scheduling time to go back into the studio with Claude Kelly, who worked with her on her 2010 record Bionic.
Christina has also been tapping up producers who have worked with Sabrina Carpenter to try to channel some of that magic.”
‘Espresso’ was produced by Julian Bunetta [One Direction, Fifth Harmony].
The late-90s, early noughties superstar felt compelled to pen new tunes after being inspired by her Las Vegas residency show.
The ‘Beautiful’ singer – who recently left RCA Records after 26 years and subsequently inked a deal with the Miami-based Latin label 5020 Records – launched her spectacular concert series at the Voltaire at The Venetian in Sin City at the end of last year, and it fuelled her creativity for new music.
She told Vegas Magazine: “[We are] drawing inspiration from a variety of sources: the lights of Vegas, the glitz of Voltaire, my music, fashion, Burlesque, creative Parisian nods and more.
“I’m always trying to push my artistic boundaries and do things I’ve never done before to always offer something new and fresh, giving the audience a one-of-a-kind experience.”
The ‘Genie In A Bottle’ hitmaker has been experimenting with new sounds.
She said: “It’s great to be on stage because this new show in Vegas is really fuelling my creativity.
“I’ve been working on experimenting with new sounds and writing. A lot has happened over the past six years—huge personal and professional changes, growth and new inspirations, so I’m so excited to share all of it in the next album!”

Lordi admits Maneskin’s winning Eurovision song is forgettable

OHMYGOSSIP — Lordi’s Tomi Putaansuu admits some of the ‘Eurovision’ rock and metal acts’ songs are forgettable.
The Finnish hard rock band – who don monster masks – won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 with their song ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah’.
They paved the way for heavy rock and alternative entrants, including fellow Finnish metallers Blind Channel, Apocalyptica, and Måneskin.
However, Lordi admits some of the more recent Eurovision songs haven’t wowed him.
He told Metal Hammer: “I appreciate and I respect the stuff that I’ve seen there [at Eurovision since 2006].
“It’s like they all go in one ear and out the other ear many times, for me.”
The 50-year-old rocker continued: “Listen, I’m a product of listening to Kiss and Twisted Sister and the world has changed a lot since then, so to hear something that tickles my Twisted Sister bone, that’s rare nowadays.
“But, of course, Blind Channel – and I’m not just saying this because they’re from Finland – they’re one of those bands that are alright. I dig the vibe and they’re super nice dudes.”
Lordi admits he hasn’t been “hit instantly” by a Måneskin song.
He went on: “There were moments, like Måneskin. That was something where, yeah, I understand it.
“Many times, if the chorus and melody doesn’t have a hook, it doesn’t stay in my head. Then it’s like, in one ear and out the other ear.
“It needs to hit me instantly: it needs to have a very good glue on the sticker side of it.
“Unfortunately, many times now, especially with those rock and metal bands in Eurovision, they don’t have the type of chorus that would stick to me.
“Even with Måneskin: I don’t remember their song. I remember their whole vibe, outfits and everything like that, but I don’t remember their song at all.”
Måneskin won the 2021 contest for Italy with the song ‘Zitti e buoni’.

The Killers presented with special award for record-breaking O2 residency

OHMYGOSSIP — The Killers have been presented with a special award to mark their record-breaking, six-night residency at The O2.
The ‘Rebel Diamonds’ tour, held between July 4 and July 11, saw Brandon Flowers and co celebrate 20 years of hits, with the ‘Somebody Told Me’ rockers selling a whopping 105,000 tickets, the highest sales the 20,000-capacity venue has seen so far this year.
The hits-filled shows saw epic staging and visuals and the ‘When You Were Young’ group even aired the Euros semi-final, which saw England get through to the final.
The unique plaque is made from the sustainable fine arts material Jesmonite and boasts a picture of the Las Vegas rockers at the venue along with a piece of arena’s tent fabric.
Matt Woolliscroft, Promoter at SJM Concerts said: “The six-night residency of The Killer at The O2 has been a phenomenal experience to be a part of. In the 20 years that I have been working with the band, the ‘Rebel Diamonds’ tour has seen, in my opinion, their best performances, best production and best setlists. Every night the audience reaction and energy has been incredible. The night of the Euros semi-final at The O2 was a true once in a lifetime “I was there” moment, and it was a privilege to be in the room for it. Each time they tour the UK, I am left thinking that they can’t get any better live, then the next time they come over they once again reach new heights.”
Kirk M. Sommer, Global Co-Head of Music at talent agency WME, said: “The Killers were my first signing more than two decades ago – it was love on first listen – and they continue to break records, warm hearts, and delight fans each and every night. It is a great privilege to be a part of their team and I was so proud to share in the joy of these record-breaking shows at The O2. After their monumental second Glastonbury headline performance in 2019, multiple sold-out stadium shows across the world in 2022, and their stunning Reading and Leeds headline sets last year, this six-night, sold-out run at London’s The O2 was the perfect capstone to the wildly successful ‘Rebel Diamonds’ tour in UK. It is exhilarating to see 20 years of hits performed live with conviction and surprises by a band at the top of their game. The audiences were electric. Congratulations to the band and whole team.”
Emma Bownes, Vice President of Venue Programming for AEG Europe, added: “We were absolutely thrilled to welcome The Killers back to The O2 for six incredible shows. Everything about the show was truly world class – from the changing setlist, to the mammoth production, and of course the moment of absolute euphoria when the band transitioned from the England Euro’s win into one of the most iconic songs of all time – Mr Brightside. It’s truly been a residency to remember, and we hope to welcome The Killers back to The O2 in the future.”

Richard Ashcroft battled in vain to get Euro 2024 final shown at spectacular Kew the Music festival show

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Ashcroft battled in vain to get the Euro 2024 final shown on a big screen at his spectacular Kew the Music festival performance.
The former Verve frontman, 52, took to a stage at Kew Gardens and rattled through a string of his old band’s songs and solo classics in a gig that was moved forward so fans could get away in time to watch the England v Spain Euros final, which kicked off at 8pm on Sunday (13.07.24) – and saw the Three Lions lose 2–1.
Richard told the crowd as he kicked off his set at 6pm sharp: “We did our best to get it screened on a big screened here, but licensing laws and all that… we just couldn’t.”
He later swigged beers on stage and shouted: “Let’s get this party started… c’mon England”.
Richard posted on Instagram ahead of the gig: “To everyone who was coming down to my show at Kew Gardens Sunday doors will now be open at 5pm schedule stage time 6.15pm this will allow anyone with an interest in the England final to get somewhere to watch the game.
“My team tried to no avail to get the game screened on the day but for a number of reasons perhaps the ransacking of the Blue Peter garden or licensing we couldn’t make it happen see you down there. I’m off to Margate peace. RA.”
He sang beloved ‘The Verve’ classic ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ to round off his set, along with ‘Lucky Man’, ‘Sonnet’ and ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’.
His setlist also included a string of his best-known solo tracks, with the singer dedicating ‘A Song for the Lovers’ to rock ’n’ roll’s most iconic couples.
As he sang an epic rendition of the track, images of lovers including John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Bob Dylan and Joan Baez and Sid and Nancy flashed up behind him.
Richard’s gig rounded off a week of performances for Kew the Music, now considered one of London’s key summer festivals.
It kicked off on 9 July with Mika headlining and Passenger two days later.

Suede announce 30th anniversary edition of classic album Dog Man Star

OHMYGOSSIP — Suede are to release a 30th anniversary edition of ‘Dog Man Star’.
The rock band – which currently consists of Brett Anderson, Mat Osman, Simon Gilbert. Richard Oakes and Neil Codling – released their second album in late 1994 and now three decades on, the record will be re-released with newly mastered tracks presented across a range of formats.
Reflecting on ‘Dog Man Star 30’, bassist and founding member Mat Osman said: “Your first album is songs you’ve been playing live for a long time. Generally, it’s almost set. The songs evolved in a certain way and you’re just trying to get them down.
“‘Dog Man Star’ was the first time where we just said, right, what happens if you push everything further? The slow songs, we take all the drums out. If we have a big closing song, we’ll have a f****** orchestra. To start the record, let’s have something that’s on one chord, and it’s just like a mantra. The kind of band we are, how far can we take it before it breaks?”
The new edition of the album – which also comes with reimagined artwork and bonus tracks – features hit tracks such as ‘ ‘Daddy’s Speeding’, ‘We Are The Pigs’ and ‘ ‘The 2 of Us’.
As part of ‘Dog Man Star 30’ celebrations Suede, have released the ‘Killing Of A Flash Boy’ Dog Man Star tour film, one of nine rare vignettes captured on location in London and Kent in 1994 by Mike Christie, the band’s long-term visual collaborator who went on to direct and produce the 2018 documentary film, ‘Suede: The Insatiable Ones.’
‘Dog Man Star 30’ is due for release on 4 October 2024 via Demon Music.

Priman Scream announce first studio album since 2016

OHMYGOSSIP — Primal Scream will release their new studio album later this year.
The rock band – which was founded in 1982 and currently consists of Bobby Gillespie, Andrew Innes, Darrin Mooney, and Simone Butler – have so far released 11 albums over the course of their career and are now “very excited” to announce that ‘Come Ahead’ will be out on 8 November.
Bobby Gillespie said: “I’m very excited about this album in a way that you would be making your first record. If there was an overall theme to Come Ahead it might be one of conflict, whether inner or outer.
“There is also a thread of compassion running through the album. The title is a Glaswegian term. If someone threatens to fight you, you say, ‘come ahead!’ It’s redolent of the indomitable spirit of the Glaswegian, and the album itself shares that aggressive attitude and confidence. They have a word for this up there, gallus. ‘Come Ahead’ is quite a cheeky title too.”
The announcement comes on the same day that the band – who have not released an album since 2016’s ‘Chaosmosis’ – have launched their new single ‘Love Insurrection’ and the whole record has been in production for over two years.
The album artwork was created using a photograph of Bobby’s late father, Robert Gillespie Senior, by Turner Prize-nominated artist Jim Lambie
Bobby added: “There is a message of hope in the record but it’s tempered with an acceptance of the worst side of human nature.”
In October, Primal Scream will perform their first live shows of 2024 as special guests to Alice Cooper at a series of gigs across the UK including Glasgow’s Ovo Hydro, Birmingham’s Utilita Arena, Manchester’s AO Arena, Leeds’ First Direct Arena.
They will also play a major festival performance at Corona Capital in Mexico City and will announce further live dates soon.
The album is released physically on double vinyl and CD with a limited mirrorboard gatefold double silver vinyl available at HMV and indie stores, plus a limited mirrorboard gatefold double red vinyl and an exclusive t-shirt available on the official album store at https://primalscream.lnk.to/StorePR.

‘It’s not fulfilling’ Donald Glover reveals why he is retiring Childish Gambino

OHMYGOSSIP — Donald Glover is retiring his Childish Gambino alter-ego because it is no longer “fulfilling”.
The 40-year-old actor is to drop ‘Bando Stone and The New World’, the sixth album under his Childish Gambino moniker, on Friday (19.07.24), but the rapper doesn’t feel the need to “build in this way” anymore.
He told the New York Times newspaper: “It really was just like, ‘Oh, it’s done.’
“It’s not fulfilling. And I just felt like I didn’t need to build in this way anymore.”
The ‘Lion King’ actor also admitted he doesn’t long for chart success with his music.
He added: “Success to me is, honestly, being able to put out a wide-scale album that I would listen to.
“For this album, I really wanted to be able to play big rooms and have big, anthemic songs that fill those rooms, so that people feel a sense of togetherness.”
In April, Glover confirmed he was to retire Gambino after ‘Bando Stone and The New World’.
It is his sixth album under the moniker, including 2024 release ‘Atavista’, which was a reissue and “finished version” of his fourth studio album ‘3.15.20’.
During an appearance on his Gilga Radio project – live streamed on Instagram – he explained: “The project I put out, ‘3.15.20’ that no one’s ever heard of, people didn’t even know I put it out, it was originally titled ‘Atavista,’ it was supposed to be ‘Atavista’.
“But we put it out quickly, I didn’t master or mix it, I just kind of put it out. I was going through a lot … thought everybody was going to die because it was the pandemic. We put it out, we finished it, it’s ‘Atavista,’ we’re putting that out. But then after that, there’s a Childish Gambino album, the final Childish Gambino album.”

Kesha grateful for positive response to comeback single

OHMYGOSSIP — Kesha feels “gratitude” and “happiness” over the reaction to her new single.
The 37-year-old singer left record label Kemosabe in December, six months after her long-running legal battle with producer Dr Luke came to an end and earlier this month, she unveiled ‘Joyride’, the first offering from her own Kesha Records, and she’s delighted people have responded so well to the track because it marks her finding her freedom.
Asked how she feels about the response to the single, she told Forbes magazine: “Like the most gratitude, happiness – I feel free for the first time since I was 18 years old and I so appreciate every single person that has streamed it, and I love the videos that are being made.
“I’ve spent almost 10 years in litigation and millions of dollars in legal fees. This joy has been hard-fought for me, so I love that people are ready to ‘Joyride’ with me.”
The ‘Praying’ hitmaker has always found writing helpful when it comes to working through her emotions and “processing life”.
She explained: “I started writing songs to deal with my emotions. I’m a highly sensitive person – I’m a triple Pisces, so these emotions come up very intensely and people can do a lot of things with them.
“If you feel rage, people can people go bash a window of a car, but for me, if I feel rage, I take it to the studio and I currently surround myself with incredibly safe people that help me take my emotion and we alchemise it into song.
“So, it’s become the way I process life and the beautiful part of writing music or making any art of any kind is that you get to process something in, hopefully, a safe way.”
And Kesha loves that what she created can then go on to help other people.
She added: “Once it has come out of your body and onto the page or into the microphone, if you choose to share it, that healing that you experience, then can possibly help to heal other people.
“The reason music relates globally is because we’re all just talking about our emotions and it humanises all of us. You see yourself in a song. You see an emotion that you have in a song – it’s relational, it’s connective – and it’s for me, very spiritual because I believe we’re all one and music is one of the most beautiful ways to feel that.
“We’re all connecting to the same human emotion because we really are all connected.”

Kylie Minogue teases new album coming soon

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue has teased fans won’t have to “wait too long” for a new album.
The 56-year-old singer only released her 16th studio LP ‘Tension’ 10 months ago but she’s told fans her new single ‘My Oh My’, a collaboration with Tove Lo and Bebe Rexha, is just a taste of things to come.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2, she told host Zoe Ball: “You know I like to stay busy and you know I like to always have something up my sleeve.
“So you could hazard a guess that this is the start of more to come.
“You won’t have to wait too long.
“There’s plenty, shall we say, and I’m full of excitement.
“I have travelled with my studio for the last year and a half.”
And while the ‘Padam Padam’ hitmaker will perform at BST Hyde Park in London on Saturday (13.07.24), she hasn’t toured the UK since 2019 but also hinted there will be live shows on the way.
Asked if there will be a UK tour, she added: “I mean, it would stand to reason, wouldn’t it?
“There’s gotta be somewhere for all this new music to live.”
Meanwhile, Kylie is also believed to be writing her autobiography.
The ‘Some Kind of Bliss’ hitmaker has reportedly decided now is the right time to put pen to paper and look back on her life with the help of a ghostwriter after finishing her Las Vegas residency and scooping a Lifetime Achievement award at the BRITs earlier this year, because she is at the “pinnacle” of her career.
A source recently told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Kylie is at the pinnacle of her career and now feels like the perfect time to write about her life and relive some memories.
“She’ll reveal some new anecdotes and stories and dig out some snaps from her archive.
“She will cover her music, TV and film roles, and of course her love life. The finished product is sure to incite a bidding war among publishers.”

Taylor Swift is wanted for a collaboration with Nelly Furtado

OHMYGOSSIP — Nelly Furtado has penned a song for Taylor Swift – but she’s yet to hear it.
The ‘I’m Like a Bird’ hitmaker, 45, got Australian EDM star Dom Dolla, 32, to produce the unnamed track, who is friends with the 34-year-old pop superstar’s NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce, also 34.
Speaking to on ‘Extra’, she spilled: “I have a song for Taylor.
“Dom is friends with Travis, so let’s get it poppin’! We want Taylor on it!”
Nelly presented the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker with the Song of the Year prize for ‘Anti-Hero’ at the 2023 MTV VMA Awards, and she found it so “surreal” that she is a fan of her music.
She said: “It’s kind of surreal for me.
“I take these long breaks away from music and sometimes I feel like a music librarian trapped in a pop star’s body, so every time I come back out from the woods, I’m like ‘I’m back from the woods! I’m back from my cave!’
“I meet other artists and they like my music, like a Taylor Swift, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh f***, that’s cool!
“‘Really, you were singing my song at a party?’ You kind of forget that you’ve been around awhile.”
She gushed: “She’s an icon!
“That it’s such a beautiful flow of life to know that your songs made an impact 20 years later Because you second guess yourself and you go, ‘Oh, maybe it was just a thing, a trend.’ But then when you see new generations enjoying your music, it becomes very real.”
In a backstage clip, Taylor could be heard telling Nelly: “I was like, screaming, ‘I’m Like a Bird’ the other day.
“Versatility, dude. You can do anything; you can do anything.”

Faithless return with new song Find A Way from upcoming LP Champion Sound

OHMYGOSSIP — Faithless have announced their eighth studio album, ‘Champion Sound’.
After wowing with a headline set The Glade Area at Glastonbury last month, which was among their first live shows in eight years, and since the loss of the beloved lead vocalist Maxi Jazz in 2022, Sister Bliss and Rollo have returned with the classic house tune ‘Find A Way’ featuring poet Suli Breaks.
It marks their first music since 2020’s ‘All Blessed’.
Announcing their comeback shows in April, the ‘Insomnia’ hitmakers said: “As many of you have noticed, we’re back…Some shows have already been announced but we couldn’t start the summer without a little personal note. Maxi died just over a year ago and obviously we miss him every day. Thank you all for all of your kind words of support over this last year. It has really, really meant a lot.”
In an interview with The Guardian before Glastonbury, DJ Sister Bliss, 53, said of the devastating loss of the frontman, who died peacefully in his sleep aged 65 after battling an unknown illness: “I keep thinking Maxi is just going to walk through the door, actually.
“I wish he was here, but his spirit will guide the whole show.”
The dance music legend insists they can never replace Maxi, but they’ve vowed to “carry his legacy”.

“We can never replace him or directly replicate it, but we want to carry his legacy with us everywhere.”

Catfish and the Bottlemen reach new heights playing to 32,000 fans at Liverpool’s Sefton Park

OHMYGOSSIP — Catfish and the Bottlemen played their biggest headline concert to date – performing to 32,000 fans at Liverpool’s Sefton Park on Thursday night (11.07.24).
Van McCann and co played one of the biggest non-stadium outdoor concerts the northern city has ever witnessed.
In tribute to local legends, The Beatles, the indie rockers arrived onstage to the thunderous ‘Helter Skelter,’ before they jumped straight into the anthemic ‘Longshot’ and ‘Kathleen’.
Revellers were treated to a 90-minute extravaganza spanning all three albums and ending the night on a high with fan-favourite ‘Cocoon’.
Van and co will play sold-out gigs in Cardiff and Edinburgh, before their sets at Reading and Leeds Festival this August.
Catfish then head to Dublin on August 31, before heading to Australia and the US.
In February, the BRIT Award-winning group returned with their first single in five years.
The rock group recorded ‘Showtime’ in Los Angeles with award-winning producer Dave Sardy, who has previously worked with the likes of Oasis and the Rolling Stones.
The track reflects frontman Van McCann’s evolution as a songwriter and is the first song off the band’s much-anticipated new album.
Meanwhile, the rocker previously admitted to being hugely ambitious as a performer.
The songwriter also revealed that he’d been inspired by Oasis during his younger years.
The 31-year-old singer told the Guardian newspaper: “I want us to play stadiums. Not just arenas, but stadiums.
“If you’re in a band and you don’t want that it’s like saying you’re happy sitting on the bench at Liverpool. If I was gonna be a bin man, I’d make sure I was the best. You’re here one day and gone the next, so why not want to play in football stadiums?
“I remember going to see Oasis at Heaton Park when I was a kid and no matter where you were in Manchester, the vibe was Oasis. It was like a magnet had been dropped in the centre of the city and was drawing everyone in. That’s what I want happening with us.”

Simple Plan drop pop-punk cover of Elton John’s Lion King classic for new Mickey Mouse album

OHMYGOSSIP — Simple Plan have released a pop-punk version of Sir Elton John’s ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ for Mickey Mouse’s new album.
Disney is releasing the LP ‘A Whole New Sound’ and the Canadian pop punk veterans have put their spin on the iconic tune from ‘The Lion King’ in honour of the 30th anniversary of the 1994 Walt Disney classic.
Simple Plan said: “We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic. We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”
Mickey Mouse and his Friends have recruited artists traversing alternative, rock and pop-punk to re-imagine Disney classics.
The Pierre Bouvier-fronted group will also perform the cover at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on August 9.
The ‘Welcome To My Life’ rockers added: “We grew up watching Disney movies with our families and now we get to enjoy them with our own kids so it’s pretty amazing to have been invited to be on this album.”
Over the years, music-lover Mickey has released several albums, including 1979’s ‘Mickey Mouse Disco, 1980’s ‘Yankee Doodle Mickey’, 1983’s ‘Mickey Mouse Splashdance’, and 1994’s rap record ‘Mickey Unrapped’.
The other featured artists will be announced in due course.
Simple Plan’s last studio album was 2022’s ‘Harder Than It Looks’, while they’ve recently gone viral on TikTok with the #ImJustAKid TikTok challenge that’s spawned more than 3.4 million clips soundtracked to their 2002 classic, with Hilary Duff, Ed Sheeran, Usher and Venus and Serena Williams getting involved.
Pierre, 45, reflected on their 25 years as a band: “It’s amazingly complex to be in a band for 20-plus years, to keep going, stay relevant and manage all the challenges that come your way.
“It’s the furthest thing from a simple plan – it’s truly a lot harder than it looks. Throughout our career, it’s taken a while to be mature enough to understand that our sound is an asset, not a liability. On the album ‘Harder Than It Looks’ we said: Let’s just embrace who we are and not be afraid to do what we do best. Making a good Simple Plan record is just as hard as making something off the beaten path.”
Listen to Simple Plan’s version of ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ on all major streaming platforms now.

Brandon Flowers pays tributes to parents as The Killers end their residency at The O2

OHMYGOSSIP — The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers paid tribute to his parents as the band ended their six-night residency at The O2 in London on Thursday night (11.07.24).
The 43-year-old singer reminisced about his childhood growing up surrounded by “dirt and sky” in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson, Nevada, and thanked his mother Jean and father Terry for creating a home that allowed him to be “free from embarrassment and anxiety”.
Introducing the song ‘Pressure Machine’, Brandon said: “Out of the kitchen all you could see was dirt and sky. No backyard, no front yard, just dirt and sky. “It didn’t bother me that we didn’t have grass, I was six, I’d spray down the dirt with water from the hose and play in the mud for as long as you would let me, but I was in the minority. One night a neighbour left a dollar bill in our mailbox and attached to the dollar was a small note which read ‘here’s a small donation to you getting a garden’. I don’t remember when I learned about the note, it was when I was grown and out of the house. But I do remember the way it felt the day that pallets of soil showed up, the excitement of helping my father line up those sweet rolls of earth, one by one, side by side, the day my parents had saved up enough money to buy real honest to goodness green grass. That’s where I lived, in that innocence, that’s the place they built for me, I was completely free from embarrassment and the anxiety. We all do that for our children in our own way. But it’s experiences like these that pave the way for songs like ‘Pressure Machine’. ‘Pressure Machine’ is not a love song, it’s a life song.”
The Killers thrilled the crowd with a set packed with their greatest hits.
A silhouetted Brandon struck a pose as the curtains lifted for opening track ‘My Own Soul’s Warning’ revealing their diamond-shaped stage, casino-style carpet and elaborate lighting rig inspired by their Las Vegas background.
They followed up with ‘Human’, ‘Somebody Told Me’ and ‘Smile Like You Mean It’ which saw Brandon tease fans with a false start before playing the 2003 track’s famous riff on his K emblazoned keyboard.
At their gig on Wednesday night (10.07.24) The Killers had shown the goal that striker Ollie Watkins scored to send England into the Euro 2024 final and as Brandon implored the 18,000 fans in the arena to lend their voices to every song he reminded them that they should still be on a high from that sporting triumph.
He said: “How you doing London? I know how you’re doing, England’s in the final and you’re at a Killers and Travis concert You’re doing fine. Tonight we’re going to go all the way, give us enthusiastic consent please. One more thing, we’re not the only ones performing tonight. You are part of an 18,000 choir. Will you sing with us tonight? Let’s try it!”
Other highlights included ‘For Reasons Unknown’, ‘Runaways’, ‘Read My Mind’ and a cover of Erasure’s ‘A Little Respect’.
Before launching into ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’, Brandon took a moment to thank their London fans for supporting the band for over 20 years.
He said: “At the end of six nights in London this has been amazing, thank you for coming – 21 years we’ve been coming to London now. When we first came I don’t think we played this song on the first trip, I don’t think it was on the list yet. We weren’t completely sure about it, but over time it has become a pillar of The Killers set and it’s sort of taken us by surprise and we love to perform it now. It’s called ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’.”
The group – also comprised of guitarist Dave Keuning and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. – left the stage as red and white confetti and streamers filled the air.
They returned for an encore of ‘Pressure Machine’, 2003 anthem ‘Mr. Brightside’ and a raucous ‘When You Were Young’ with latter two tracks prompting a mass singalong.
The Killers take up residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas this August.

Simon Cowell’s ABBA Voyage wish for One Direction

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell wants to create an ABBA Voyage-style One Direction show.
The music mogul admitted he regrets allowing Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne to own the rights to the name One Direction because if he was in charge, he would use it to set up a virtual residency for the band.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, Simon – who formed the band on ‘X Factor’ in 2010 and signed them to his record label – said: “I wish I’d owned the name. “Well, like ABBA. You know the ABBA thing, I’d do that. Yeah, and I wouldn’t have to ask anyone.”
Simon, 64, also shared his wish for a One Direction reunion, saying he is sure the band would sell out a worldwide stadium tour easily.
He said: “We would sell out stadiums all over the world. I don’t think it’s going to happen. But I’m just saying if they did (get back together.
“Some of my best memories of my career were around about that time. It was just exciting, it was special and when we saw 20 fans grow into 40 fans and then suddenly 100 and then it went to 2000 and the fans were kind of like really the ones who were making it work all over the world. And being part of that, it was thrilling.”
Simon previously admitted his regret over not holding on to the rights to the name One Direction.
He told ‘The Diary Of A CEO’ podcast: “One thing I regret is I should have kept the name … I should have owned the name.
“That’s the problem. Could have made an animation or whatever, but when you give an artist the name, it’s not yours – and that’s my only regret. If you’re listening, I’ll buy it back from you.
“If one of the band members, for whatever reason, say they don’t want to tour, it can stop the others [from] touring. So, if it was me who owned the name, it wouldn’t be a problem.”

Billie Eilish accused of not being ‘authentic’ during studio sessions

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish was accused of not being “authentic” or “honest” during a studio session for her latest album.
The pop star’s brother Finneas – who has produced all of his sisters records – has revealed the pair got into an argument while they were working on her third album ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ because he was convinced Billie could do better,
During an appearance on YouTube show ‘Hot Ones Versus’, Finneas explained: “I think the longest, biggest argument was during a period of transition in maybe both of our lives where we were just trying to be kind of honest.
“To give [Billie] credit, I was very much high and mighty about, like, ‘You’re not being honest or authentic enough.’ So I learned a lot from being too egocentric in that process.”
Billie added she was also annoyed about her brother putting his bare feet on the sound desk, adding: “He’s a lot of times barefoot, a lot of the times in very filthy shoes … My face is right there [near the desk where his feet are]. And actually we filmed so much in making the album that almost all the footage is his feet and then me.”
The siblings previously opened up about the difficult times during the making of the album in an interview with Apple Music 1‘s Zane Lowe in May, with Finneas claiming Billie wasn’t being vulnerable enough.
He said: “I was like, ‘Subject-wise, I’m not being led into what you’re actually feeling, and I think that there are real guards up’.”
Finneas confessed he even reached a point when he considered walking away from music, and Billie revealed she understood exactly how he was feeling.
She said: “It was very interesting because I saw myself in that. I was like, ‘I have felt that way and you have always been the thing that keeps the ship moving, and now you feel that way. What does that mean for us? And what are we going to do?”
