Maren Morris wont hold back on new album: ‘I don’t have to protect anyone anymore’

OHMYGOSSIP — Maren Morris won’t hold back on her upcoming album – because she doesn’t “have to protect anyone anymore”.
The 34-year-old star recently came out as bisexual following her split from Ryan Hurd – with whom she has son Hayes, four – last October after five years of marriage, and as she prepares to unleash her new record, ‘Intermission’, she has spoken about no longer holding onto “feelings” she keeps in her diary, some of which are “heartbreaking”.
Referring to her album’s track ‘Cut!’ with Julia Michaels, she said in an Instagram Reel this week: “Calling this project Intermission was intentional. It’s obviously a lyric at the end of the song Cut!’.
“But it’s also meaning that there’s more to come.
“It’s a break in the act, and for me, it’s definitely an act break and new chapter of my life, and I’m so ready to see what’s on the other page.
“I just am so proud of this music. It wasn’t easy to write because I’m going through a lot, and this is the diary of that.
“But it’s also the most fun music as well as the most heartbreaking because I’m allowing myself to go there – ’cause I don’t have to protect anyone anymore. It’s just about my feelings. So I hope you love it.”
Maren revealed she is attracted to both men and women in a social media post to mark Pride month in June.
She shared a series of photos from her concert in Arizona, including some of her waving a small Pride flag, and wrote on Instagram: “PHOENIX, AZ happy to be the B in LGBTQ+ happy pride [rainbow emoji] (sic)”
The ‘My Church’ singer announced last year she was stepping away from country music because she felt “very, very distanced” from the industry and its politics.
She told the Los Angeles Times newspaper of country music: “I thought I’d like to burn it to the ground and start over. But it’s burning itself down without my help.”
The ‘Get The Hell Out Of Here’ singer has been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and the Black Lives Matter movement, and she admitted pushing for change only led to her feeling isolated.
She said: “I’ve always been an asker of questions and a status quo challenger just by being a woman. So it wasn’t really even a choice.
“The further you get into the country music business, that’s when you start to see the cracks. And once you see it, you can’t un-see it…
“If you truly love this type of music and you start to see problems arise, it needs to be criticized. Anything this popular should be scrutinised if we want to see progress.
“But I’ve kind of said everything I can say. I always thought I’d have to do middle fingers in the air jumping out of an airplane, but I’m trying to mature here and realize I can just walk away from the parts of this that no longer make me happy.”
Maren admitted being female in the industry is particularly tough.
She said: “Being one of the few women that had any success on country radio, everything you do is looked at under a microscope. You’re scrutinised more than your male peers, even when you’re doing well.
“So I’ve had to clear all of that out of my head this year and just write songs. A lot of the drama within the community, I’ve chosen to step outside out of it.”
‘Intermission’ is due for release on August 12.

Megan Thee Stallion declared ‘we are about to make history’ at Kamala Harris’ Atlanta rally

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Thee Stallion declared we are “about to make history” with the first female Black president at Kamala Harris’ rally.
The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ rapper performed a special set at the Vice President’s Atlanta presidential rally at the Georgia State Convocation Center on Tuesday (30.07.24), where she rattled out a mashup of ‘Girls In The Hood’, ‘Savage’, ‘Body’ and ‘Mamushi’.
Seemingly referring to some US state’s control over women’s bodies through abortion laws, she told attendees: “Now I know my ladies in the crowd love their bodies. If you want to keep loving your bodies, you know who to vote for.”
Encouraging people to vote for Kamala over Donald Trump after Joe Biden stepped down as president, Megan later declared: “I’m so happy to be here, Atlanta. We are about to make history with the first female President. The first Black female President. Let’s get this done, Hotties.”
Former Migos star Quavo – whose late nephew and bandmate Takeoff was shot dead in 2022 – gave a speech at the event, where he spoke about the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention and Kamala’s commitments to tackling gun violence in the US.
Meanwhile, Megan and Kamala teamed up on a TikTok video.
The rap star opens the clip: “What’s up, Hotties. This is your girl Megan Thee Stallion, aka the Hot Girl Coach, reporting live with the future President of the United States.”
Megan then asks Kamala: “What do you have to say to the American people?”, and she vowed: “We are not going back.”
A host of huge names have thrown their support behind the politician.
After Biden announced he was giving his “full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee for our party this year”, Charli XCX wrote on X: “Kamala IS brat.”
The pop star’s post referred to the title of her latest album, ‘Brat’ – and soon after the post Kamala’s official campaign cashed in on the support by changing its banner on X to mimic the style of “brat”.
After the alteration, it read “kamala hq” in lowercase black lettering with a lime green background.
Charli – real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison – defined her take on the word “brat” in a video on TikTok, saying: “You’re just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes.
“Who feels herself but maybe also has a breakdown. But kind of like parties through it, is very honest, very blunt. A little bit volatile.
“Like does dumb things. But it’s brat. You’re brat. That’s brat.”
Some of Kamala’s most popular quotes and video clips were spliced together and set to Charli’s songs.
Many of the clips were tinted in the lime green hue of the singer’s ‘brat’ album cover – or the cover pops up in between clips of the politician.
One of the most used quotes in the clips is Kamala telling the US president: “We did it, Joe”, after he was elected in 2020 – making her the first female vice president in American history.
Kamala launched her first full day of campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination last week, following Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 election race.

Green Day riled up Donald Trump supporters with their ‘idiot’ mask stunt

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Joe Armstrong held up a Donald Trump mask with “idiot” penned across it at Green Day’s politically charged Washington D.C. concert.
The pop punk veterans played the city on Monday (29.07.24), amid an intense time in the US as Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris battle it out to become Joe Biden’s replacement.
Whilst performing ‘American Idiot’ at Nationals Park, Armstrong switched up the lyrics and sang: “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda” instead of “I’m not a part of a redneck agenda.”
Green Day have long protested against Trump.
Last year, the group sold t-shirts emblazoned with the former president’s mug shot to raise relief funds for Maui fire victims.
They recreated their 1997 ‘Nimrod’ album cover but swapped out the pictures of Frederick Banting and Charles Best, who co-discovered insulin, with Trump’s frowning face covered up with the title in a yellow circle.
Referencing their 1997 classic ‘Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)’, Armstrong and co captioned a picture of the design on Instagram: “Good Riddance. The ultimate Nimrod shirt is available for 72 hours only. Limited edition shirt proceeds will be donated to @greatergoodmusiccharity, which brings food to those affected by the Maui wildfires.”
Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion just declared we are “about to make history” with the first female Black president at Harris’ rally.

Shawn Mendes announces release date for new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn Mendes is set to release his new album in October.
The 25-year-old singer has revealed via social media that his new record, ‘Shawn’, draws on his experiences of the last two years.
In a heartfelt message posted on Instagram, Shawn wrote: “Music really can be medicine. 2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift. (sic)”
Shawn – who will release his new album on October 18 – also thanked his friends and family for the support they’ve shown him over the last two years.
The singer – who wrote and co-produced the album – said: “Honestly thank god for my friends and family. Life can be brutal but having a small group of people you deeply trust to walk you through makes it so much better. I have no idea how I would have made it through the last couple years let alone make an album without you.
“Scott, Mike, Eddie, Andrew, Ziggy, Sylvie, Rachel, Brian, Prash, Sarah, Meghan, Connor, Tony, Aaliyah, mum, dad, Jocelyne, H.O.M, Matty. All of my Friends and Family, thank you for loving on me so hard. And to you guys who have been so unbelievably supportive and patient and loving thank you from the bottom of my heart.
“I really hope you love this album, I do. I really really do. I hope it makes you feel warm and close to the earth like it does for me. (sic)”
The album’s lead single, ‘Why Why Why’, as well as ‘Isn’t That Enough’, will be released on August 9.

Jade Thirlwall wrote her best music when she ‘stopped caring’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jade Thirlwall wrote her “best music” when she stopped worrying about trying to craft a viral hit.
The Little Mix star recently released her debut solo single, ‘Angel Of My Dreams’ – which features a sample of Sandie Shaw’s Eurovision-winning tune ‘Puppet On A String’ – and she’s admitted working on her tracks became much easier when she gave up trying to put together the perfect song for the radio or make a track that would work on TikTok.
During an interview with Rebecca Judd on Apple Music 1, Jade explained: “I think I’ve actually surprised myself creatively. I think the minute I stopped caring as much about like, ‘Oh gosh, what’s going to work on radio, what’s a TikTok hit and all this stuff’, I started writing my best music.
“So I think I needed this time to evolve and know who I am as my own artist.”
Jade insisted she’s embraced an “experimental vibe” for her debut solo album because there is now a lot more “creative freedom” for female artists.
She went on: “There’s a lot of songs on the record that have that same experimental vibe. I’d say the record as a whole, to be honest, I definitely have a few of the kind of, I guess more straight down the line poppy songs on there, but peppered in with the chaos, that is my brain …
“I think there’s a really exciting time in music now where it’s evolved to a point where, especially for women in music, there’s a lot more creative freedom.
“There’s a lot more acceptance for whatever age you are or who you want to be as an artist. It doesn’t feel as restrictive as when it did when I first maybe entered the industry in 2011.
“And I think that’s really encouraging for me to have watched that evolution in music to get to where I am now.”

Ice Spice regrets being too busy for Charli XCX collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Ice Spice is upset she was too busy to collaborate with Charli XCX.
The 24-year-old rapper was asked by the ‘360’ hitmaker to add a new verse to an official ‘Deli’ remix she’d worked on earlier this year but she was too busy with her own album ‘Y2K!’ to work on the track, though she cleared the original sample and hopes to find time in the future to record with the British singer.
She told Rolling Stone magazine: “I’m like, ‘Girl, that’s the vibe. That one. I’m going to clear it for you. Don’t worry about that.’
“She wanted a brand-new verse. I was like, ‘F***, I wish this was at a time when I had finished my album, because then I could have did it for her.’
“I’ll catch her on the next one.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the ‘Munch (Feelin’ U)’ hitmaker also played down rumours of a feud with Nicki Minaj.
She said: “We don’t have the closest relationship, you know? But we’re definitely good. We’re mutuals. We had smash records together. I love us together. I think the world does too.”
Earlier this year, a former friend of Ice leaked text messages in which the rapper expressed her frustration with the contract negotiations with Nicki for their collaboration ‘Barbie World’, and she admitted she “felt used” by her old pal.
Ice reflected: “I think that the saddest part of the whole situation, it’s somebody I knew for so many years and called my friend had me open up and be vulnerable with them, and then took complete advantage of that for her own benefit.
“So that was the saddest part really, just feeling used, basically.”
The ‘Gimme a Light’ artist insisted she was only expressing her frustration and she still has a lot of respect for her collaborator, who hasn’t commented on the leaked messages.
She said: “[Nicki is] busy as hell. I don’t really think she cares about s*** like that coming from a random girl.
“But what I said in those texts was just in a moment of frustration around contract negotiations. I could have chose different words.
“But at the end of the day, regardless of how I felt in that moment, [Nicki] is still somebody I respect as an artist, and I’m always going to admire everything she’s done for me and the culture.”

‘Nerves never go away’: Griff can’t shake stage fright

OHMYGOSSIP — Griff still suffers from terrible stage fright.
The 23-year-old singer has supported stars such as Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift in recent years and admits that the daunting feeling of playing to a packed crowd never disappears.
Speaking to the BBC, Griff said: “I think I’ve learned that nerves never go away. Like, I get sick to the stomach every single time.
“But it’s a unique high, having people sing (your words) back to you.
“Every now and again, without asking, a whole stadium would start putting their lights up. And that’s when you really feel like, oh my God, I’ve really got this audience.”
Griff released her debut album ‘Vertigo’ – which seems to be a break-up record – earlier this month and felt that the issue of relationship heartache was tough to address.
She said: “It might have happened, yes. But I think that’s naturally what you experience in your early 20s.
“It’s just tougher, maybe, than you think.
“Being let down or feeling rejection is harder to articulate than you can imagine.”
Griff opened for Taylor Swift as part of her Eras Tour shows at Wembley Stadium last month and was struck by the “surprisingly calm” atmosphere backstage at such a large-scale concert.
She said: “What was really nice about it is that every single person is aware that they’re part of history. There’s such a gratitude to being a part of it. And I think that’s a really beautiful atmosphere to be around.”
The ‘Black Hole’ singer admits that it would be “inspiring” if she got the chance to headline a stadium show of her own in the future.
Griff explained: “It’s weird, my goalpost of success keeps shifting the longer I’m in this.
“My ultimate goal is just to write the songs that outlive me – but if that involves performing in stadiums, then that’s super inspiring.”

Dave Rowntree declares that Blur will do more together if the offers are right

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Rowntree has revealed that Blur are willing to work together more often as long as the opportunities are right.
The ‘Parklife’ band are releasing a live album of their two gigs at Wembley Stadium last summer and the drummer admits the temptation to do more projects is always there.
Dave told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “There’s still tons of stuff we could do. It’s about finding an offer that’s very hard to say no to.
“When we first got back together in 2009, we were very happy to be the first people to play what has become the British Summer Time festival at Hyde Park.
“Then we were asked to headline the party to end the 2012 Olympics, and you can’t say no to that.”
Dave explained that the Britpop icons – also made up of frontman Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon and bassist Alex James – had fun on the tour that accompanied the release of the album ‘The Ballad of Darren’ last year.
The 60-year-old musician said: “We came away all still friends, having had a lot of fun doing the shows.
“So there’s absolutely no reason why we couldn’t consider another interesting idea, if we’re all available. But there’s absolutely nothing in the diary for Blur at the moment.”
Despite the initial nerves, Rowntree explained that playing to a crowd of 90,000 at Wembley Stadium soon became relatively straightforward.
He said: “It’s stressful, headlining a show to that many people in front of your home crowd. All our friends and family were there. Had it been a disaster, you’d have to look those people in the eye the next morning.
“But once we started the first show, it was, ‘Oh, we know how to do this.’
“Halfway through the first song, we were all focused.”

Kesha teases ‘beautiful’ first album as an independent artist

OHMYGOSSIP — Kesha says her “beautiful” upcoming album feels like her debut record all over again.
The ‘Tik Tok’ hitmaker is gearing up to release her first album as an independent artist on Kesha Records and is delighted to be in control of her material after her long-running legal dispute with her former producer Dr. Luke.
In an interview with Paper magazine, Kesha said: “This is the first album I’m making where I’m 100 per cent in control of everything. It feels like it’s my first album.
“It feels divine, it feels like it stands for a lot. It’s really beautiful, and I cannot wait to share it. It’s maybe the most beautiful time of my entire life!”
The 37-year-old singer even claims that the record will be even better than her 2010 debut smash ‘Animal’.
Kesha said: “I am so excited, I got to work with the people I did and capture this moment in time, and put it onto something other people can listen to. It’s been deeply life-changing and profound to make this album, but it’s also the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.
“If you thought ‘Animal’ was fun, just f****** wait.”
The singer released her first independent single ‘Joyride’ earlier this month and described how she has been able to recapture the emotions she felt when making ‘Animal’.
Kesha said: “This is the first time in my life I’ve felt similarly to how I did in that point in my life, when I was making music from a purely joyful place. But you know, because of life, this is even more exciting, because it’s all really 100 per cent me.
“That feels really good, just to step into my own worth, and my own power and not have anything in my mind or the external world say it’s anything but me.
“It’s pretty unavoidable that whether people like or hate ‘Joyride’, it’s all me.”

Luke Steele was lost without Empire of the Sun

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Steele missed his Empire of the Sun bandmate Nick Littlemore when he went solo.
The ‘We Are the People’ hitmakers are back with their first new album for eight years ‘Ask That God’ and Luke revealed that things weren’t the same without his collaborator after he decided to walk away from the partnership during the coronavirus pandemic.
Luke told The Sun newspaper: “We are recharged and ready to go. After ‘Two Vines’ (2016 album) we got quite exhausted and everything stopped working. Nothing was gelling.
“At the start of the pandemic, I was instrumental saying, ‘That’s it, I’m done, I’m leaving.’ I told Nick, management, the record company that the band was over. That I was never doing another record. And I left.”
The 44-year-old artist continued: “I made a solo record and moved to northern California, but then piece by piece, I started to realise what I was missing and what was so beautiful about Empire in the first place.
“I’d work with people and think, ‘That’s cool, but it’s not working with Nick,’ and then start falling back in love with Empire again.
“Then Nick and I got back in the studio, and it really has been great. The hardest part of being in a band that’s had success is there really is extreme pressure.
“With Empire, when the spirit is right, we sound like nothing else. We’ve made a few albums now and so we’ve broadened the palate with this record and it feels good.”
Luke has promised fans that it won’t be another eight-year wait for the electronic pair’s next album as his relationship with Littlemore is stronger than ever.
He said: “Our relationship is the best it’s ever been. We both now have families, so when we get into the studio, it’s down to business. Our earlier years were the hardest – there was so much built-up emotion, ambition and ego.
“But I love the way we work now – we are hungrier more than ever and we know what we are doing now. We’ve made four records but we’ve made hundreds of songs. We have three or four folders of Empire rarities. We have a real work ethic and I am so proud of us. We are always trying to find the next rare gem.
“And that’s why fans won’t have to wait another eight years for another album after ‘Ask That God’. We are trying to keep the train moving.”

Suzi Quatro never thought of herself as a rock trailblazer

OHMYGOSSIP — Suzi Quatro never considered herself to be a pioneer.
The ‘Can the Can’ hitmaker paved the way for female rock artists with her success in the genre during the 1970s and only later realised what a trailblazing impact she had.
Suzi told Classic Rock magazine: “I’d no idea what I was doing was unusual. I was just being me, rocking out. It was (producer) Mickie Most – who discovered me and brought me to England – who told me I was unique. I was going: ‘What? Why is he saying that to me?’ And even after the hits started, in 1973, I still didn’t get it.
“It wasn’t until I saw my documentary, ‘Suzi Q’, and Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde, Lita Ford, Joan Jett, Donita Sparks, Tina Weymouth and KT Tunstall all appeared and they basically all said the same thing: we would not have done we did had Suzi not done it first. That was the first time, at the age of sixty-nine, that I realised what I’d done.”
Suzi is going back on tour across the UK later this year to mark her 60th anniversary in the music business and thinks her attitude of refusing to get complacent is key to her longevity.
The 74-year-old rocker said: “We’re filming at the London Palladium, always a challenge. Every gig’s a challenge, to tell the truth. I don’t rest on laurels, I’ve never gone out with the attitude: ‘They’re going to love me tonight.’ Never. I go out with: ‘I hope they like me tonight.’
“Though it’s fair to say I’m at the top of my performing game. I’m doing a two-hour show with an interval, so I can play a song on the piano, a duet on the drums, a six-and-a-half-minute bass solo. And luckily my vocal capabilities haven’t gone down.”

Razorlight explain Taylor Swift-inspired song

OHMYGOSSIP — Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell wrote his new song ‘Taylor Swift = US Propaganda’ “in about 10 seconds”.
The 44-year-old rocker insisted that despite its title, the song has nothing to do with the US popstar but was inspired by a note he found in the recording studio.
He told NME: “I went back to the Basque country where I live and promptly forgot about being a musician for five weeks. My girlfriend asked me: ‘Are you writing anything?’ and I just laughed. I hadn’t even thought about it until she put it in my mind. I picked up a guitar and, honestly, pretty much everything else happened. ‘Taylor Swift’ popped out in about 10 seconds.
“When we’re recording, I always write down things people say. Finishing that song in the studio, I saw a bit of paper that said: ‘Taylor Swift = US Soft Propaganda’. If you want me to comment on Taylor Swift specifically, I’m not sure I really can, because I don’t know much about her.
“Like I say, I don’t know much about Taylor Swift. But I like to take the reality of the creative process and keep it. And with a lot of albums, people start off wanting to say things then, once people start saying: ‘Oh, that’s controversial, what will people say about that?’ Everything starts to get smoothed out. In 2024, what’s the point?”
And, he urged Taylor’s fans not to take the title seriously.
He said: “I want to stay true. Every step of the way on this album, what was happening in the studio is what you get. That piece of paper is a joke someone thought was funny at the time. So, why not?”
Razorlight have recently announced ‘Planet Nowhere’ – their first album recorded by the group’s classic line-up, Borrell, guitarist Bjorn Agren, drummer Andy Burrows and bassist Carl Dalem, since 2008.

Britney Spears deletes post slamming Halsey

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears has deleted her post slamming Halsey’s ‘Lucky’ music video.
The Gia Coppola-directed music video for Halsey’s new song pays homage to Britney’s 2000 single ‘Lucky’ but a post on Britney’s social media said she felt “harassed, violated and bullied” by the video.
However, she later deleted the message and claimed she never wrote it.
Britney, 42, wrote on X: “Fake news !!! That was not me on my phone !!! I love Halsey and that’s why I deleted it !!!”
Halsey, 29, quoted the tweet and wrote: “and I love Britney!!!! I always have and always will you were the first person who ever made me realize what it means to feel inspired. And you continue to inspire me everyday (sic).”
The video features a troubled pop star – portrayed by Halsey – and the young girl who views her as an idol.
It shows her removing her wig to reveal a shaved head, as she struggles with ill health and pop stardom.
Britney’s original message stated: “For obvious reasons I’m very upset about the Halsey video. I feel harassed, violated and bullied. I didn’t know an artist like her and someone I looked up to and admired would illustrate me in such an ignorant way by tailoring me as a superficial pop star with no heart or concern at all. I have my own health problems which is why I took down my IG account yesterday. I will definitely be putting it back up now to show I CARE. I’m speaking with my lawyers today to see what can be done on this matter. It feels illegal and down right cruel.”
However, Halsey’s lyrics referencing the shaved head appear to be directed at her own secret health battle, after the star recently revealed she had been diagnosed with lupus, rather than Britney’s infamous 2007 meltdown when she shaved off all of her hair.
Halsey’s lyrics include the lines: “I shaved my head four times because I wanted to and then I did it one more time cause I got sick. I thought I changed so much nobody would notice shit, and no one did. Then I left the doctor’s office full of tears / Became a single mom at my premiere / I told everybody I was fine for a whole damn year, and that’s the biggest lie of my career.”

Nick Mason wants to use AI for new Pink Floyd songs

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason wants to use AI to create new music for the band.
The 80-year-old drummer doesn’t believe there is any chance of a reunion between the surviving members of the group because of the lengthy feud between David Gilmour and Roger Waters – who quit in 1985 – but thinks artificial intelligence could create songs as if the bassist had never left.
Nick told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “It would be fascinating to see what AI could do with new music. If you tried to run it as a sort of ‘Where did Pink Floyd go after?’
“The thing to do would be to have an AI situation where David and Roger become friends again. We could be like ABBA by the time we’ve finished with it.”
The group last performed together at Live 8 in 2005, with original member Syd Barrett – who had left in 1968 due to mental health issues – passing away the following year, two years before keyboardist Richard Wright died of cancer.
Nick is disappointed the feud has overshadowed the ‘Wish You Were Here’ hitmakers’ good times and their many career achievements.
He said: “In a 55-year career, most of it was great fun. We were enormously privileged to be in a successful band and tour the world and hang out with really interesting people. It’s a gold card to meet all sorts of your favourite sportsmen and actors.”
The musician still plays early Pink Floyd songs with his current band, Saucerful of Secrets, and loves revisiting his old songs.
He said: “The best thing about keeping the thing going is for our benefit. It makes sense to keep it going rather than shutting it down. I also enjoy it because the more time passes, the more you can look at it with a rosier glint.”

Taylor Swift messes up secret songs segment in Munich

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift messed up during her secret songs segment at her ‘Eras’ show in Munich on Saturday (27.07.24).
The 34-year-old singer had successfully teamed ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ track ‘Fresh Out the Slammer’ with ‘1989’s ‘You Are in Love’ on guitar during her first show at the Olympiastadion in Germany, but when she then headed to her piano for the second medley, she flubbed the opening notes, and immediately drew attention to the gaffe.
In footage shared on X, she laughed: “Sometimes you just don’t hit the right note, do you?”
She then continued with the second medley, fusing ‘Ivy’ from ‘Evermore’ with ‘Reputation’ track ‘Call It What You Want’.
This isn’t the first time Taylor has had problems during the segment.
While performing in Milan, Italy, earlier this month, the piano glitched.
She quipped as a crew member came on stage to fix the instrument: “We have finally broken this thing.”
During her show in Hamburg earlier this week, the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker reflected on having to do her own hair, make-up and styling for her ‘Folklore’ album cover shoot because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She told fans: “I started making ‘Folklore’ about two days into the pandemic.
“It was just, like, such a challenge for us as creators, but it was so fulfilling.
“Then came time to take some pictures for the album. You can’t have hair and makeup, you can’t have wardrobe, you have to just do it yourself.
“So I called my friend who has some woods behind her house and was like, ‘Can I take some pictures in your forest?’ And she said, ‘Yes’.
“I ordered all these nightgowns online and brought them, and then did my own hair and make-up… just was like, ‘Guess I’ll braid it? I don’t know’.”

Sparks won’t make music that isn’t ‘cool’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sparks “feel an obligation” to continue making high-quality music.
The ‘This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us’ band – made up of brothers Ron and Russell Mael – have released 26 albums in a career spanning more than half a century but refuse to let the standard of their work diminish as they are always gaining new fans.
Ron told Mojo magazine: “There are so many newer fans that have kind of come our way of late.
“We feel an obligation, which we always do, to keep the quality high. We’re lovers of pop music, and we think it’s a disservice to pop music to come out with stuff that isn’t cool.”
Sparks are preparing to release another new album next year and Ron explained that the band are going against convention by making their music more “aggressive” as they grow older.
The 78-year-old musician said: “I think that the assumption for a band that, say, has been around for as long and has made as many albums as we have – I won’t mention years – is that we would be introspective and mellow down a touch.
“You know, the usual things where musicians try to come to grips with mortality and all those sorts of things. We’re not like that. It still has a pretty high degree of aggression to it, I think.”
Russell added that the forthcoming album will be “consistent” with ‘The Number One Song in Heaven’ band’s previous material.
The 75-year-old singer said: “I think it’s consistent with the lyric universe that Sparks has always had, with some issues that are maybe not treated so much in normal pop music, or issues that are, treated in a way that’s not clichéd.”
