My family always comes first, says Cardi B

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B prioritises her family life over her music career.
The 31-year-old rap star – who has Kulture, six, and Wave, two, with rapper Offset – is determined to ensure that she puts her children’s interests before her own.
She told Rolling Stone magazine: “My kids come first. My kids come before anything.”
Cardi is one of the best-selling artists in the world. But she insists that money-making isn’t her biggest motivation.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker – who worked as a stripper before finding success in the music business – explained: “If I was doing things for money, I would put out music everything month because nothing pays me more than shows.
“I’m turning down these concerts because I don’t got no new music.”
Cardi has enjoyed a meteoric rise over recent years.
However, the rap star has repeatedly suggested that she was actually happier before she found fame and success.
She told CR Fashion Book magazine: “One positive thing is that, my family, whatever they want, they get. Everything that I want to buy, I can get. I don’t have to worry so much about my future.
“One negative thing is that, even though I’m happy, I feel like I was a little bit happier two or three years ago when I had less money.”
Cardi feels as though she’s lost some control over her own life.
The rapper said: “I had less people who had opinions about my life. I felt like my life was mine.
“Now I feel like I don’t even own my life. I feel like the world owns me.”

PartyNextDoor was the first artist to sign with Drake’s record label OVO Sound, an imprint of Warner Records in 2013.
The pair have collaborated before on ‘Come and See Me’ ((2016), ‘Since Way Back’ (2017) and ‘LOYAL’ (2019).

Speaking about the album, PND told Billboard: “This is the proudest I’ve felt. I’m excited to grind even more for the next [one]. I’m in love with how hard you should work for it. The only thing that’s important, that has changed my life, is dropping music. I’m not worried about the fame.”

Potential HUGE reunion plans in the pipeline for NSYNC

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake is in talks for a major *NSYNC reunion to mark their 30th anniversary.
The ‘Bye Bye Bye’ hitmakers – which also included JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick – recorded a new song for ‘Trolls Band Together’ last year, before joining JT on stage during his ‘Forget The World Tour’ in March and later releasing ‘Paradise’ on his latest album ‘Everything I Thought I Was’, and there are further plans in the pipeline for next year, including an album and a documentary about their rise to stardom.
However, the project’s potential depends on the ‘Mirrors’ hitmaker’s willingness to be involved.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “The desire has always been for them to do one major comeback. This could be the one – the 30th anniversary is something very special. Certainly, for the rest of the boys, it’s a now-or-never moment. A live performance recorded as a special, along with a full-scale documentary based around their journey and untold story would be a huge deal.
“They’ve been talking about new music and have tracks in development right now. If all the planets align, fans could be treated to an epic 2025.
“Of course, Justin holds the key to it all. But there’s much optimism. This isn’t a money-grab, but a nod from the group to what they achieved and how much they appreciate their fans.”
Chris recently admitted the group had been discussing working on new music.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Well, we’ve been talking about it for a while.
“We’re kicking the tires, seeing if the car will still drive, and, you know, we’ll see where it leads.”
The 52-year-old singer is adamant that the iconic boyband “can’t disappoint” their fans, but he admitted it’s not necessarily “a positive” update.
He added: “Hopefully, you know, we’re all kind of in agreement that, moving forward, our fanbase and a lot of people, still want this.
“So we can’t disappoint them. So it’s not a positive, but it’s a we’ll see.”
Lance previously admitted he had “no idea” there would be such a demand for the group to make a comeback.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It is beautiful, you know? To be this age and the fans are still this excited, it is a dream come true.
“I had no idea the fandom would go this nuts. It was pretty emotional, the first time we all got in the studio together.”

Daniel Bedingfield believes AI is the future of music

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Bedingfield thinks artificial intelligence (AI) is the future of music.
The ‘Gotta Get Thru This’ hitmaker has developed his own app, Hooks, which pairs songs with AI-generated videos and has also put together a new album comprised of songs generated by the technology as he thinks it should be embraced by creative people.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “AI is now here for ever. And so I think that there will be two paths: there’ll be the neo-luddite path, and then there’ll be everyone else, most of the planet, who thinks the music’s really good and enjoys it.
“It will be possible to continue without AI. But the question will be, why would you?
“Why fight it when you can have a whole gospel choir singing your chorus in two days’ time?”
Daniel believes AI can help children write “masterpieces” and wishes he’d had the technological advantages when he was a child.
He said: “I want a six year old to make a masterpiece.
“I could sing really well when I was six; I feel that my voice was as good at nine as it is now. I would have loved the chance to have made an album back then, without having to spend decades learning to play the instruments. That was the hard part, the brutal part.”
But the 44-year-old star acknowledged giving people the power to create music without musicians would also have a damaging impact on the industry.
He said: “Right now I’m grieving in my heart for 10,000 musicians, the pain that’s coming in the next 10 years, the depression, the homelessness. I think that’s coming.”
He ended with a stark warning.
He said: “We have to adapt or die.”

Normani felt ‘anxious’ about releasing her debut album

OHMYGOSSIP — Normani felt “anxious” before releasing her debut solo album.
The 28-year-old singer – who shot to stardom as a teenager as part of Fifth Harmony – has confessed that she felt nervous before releasing ‘Dopamine’ in June.
Normani – whose album faced numerous delays – told Rolling Stone magazine: “I’m excited, but I’m a little anxious.”
Asked what was making her feel anxious, the ‘Motivation’ hitmaker replied: “Honestly just the pressures of the wait and hoping that everybody loves this body of work as much as I love it.”
Normani committed herself wholeheartedly to the project.
She shared: “I want to know that I put in absolutely everything that I could, that I exhausted every possibility.”
Normani also hopes that fans will “learn” more about her through listening to the album.
She said: “I’ve been so many versions of myself – still the same, still Normani, but in this body of work, I really hope everybody’s able to learn more about me.”
Earlier this year, Normani admitted that she battled self-doubts while making her debut album.
During an appearance on the ‘Zach Sang Show’, Normani explained: “I deserve to enjoy what I’m doing, and I would definitely say that I wish I enjoyed this process a lot more than I did.
“But there were so many different … things attached to it. So next time I’m going to be like, ‘No, I’m going to have the best time ever.'”
Normani sees her debut album as a testament to her own “resilience”.
She said: “It’s a testament to me being with me this whole time, and me not giving up on myself. And my resilience, because there’s plenty of times … that I honestly didn’t know if the project was going to come out, or if people still cared, or this was still where god called me.
“I questioned a lot my purpose in this throughout the process.”

Nelly Furtado suggests Loose Las Vegas residency with Timbaland

OHMYGOSSIP — Nelly Furtado has suggested a Las Vegas residency with her collaborator Timbaland.
The ‘I’m Like A Bird’ hitmaker, 45, would love to team up with the 52-year-old record producer on a show focused on their iconic noughties LP, ‘Loose’, which topped the charts in 10 countries upon its release in 2006.
Speaking to NME, Nelly said: “I think it would be really fun for Timbaland and I to do a Vegas residency of ‘Loose’. We could play the album from beginning to end, because I do think it captures the world we were in at the time.”
Nelly believes the “real sound” of the record and the combination of their signature styles gave it mass appeal.
She explained: “We didn’t want it to sound perfect. We wanted it to sound real. The idea was [to lay] my trippy, melancholic, bittersweet melodies and lyrics over Tim’s heavy beats and make a dreamy type of mix within that.”
The record included the hit singles ‘Maneater’, ‘Promiscuous’, ‘Say It Right’, ‘In God’s Hands’ and ‘All Good Things (Come To An End)’.
The pair have since worked together on the 2007 hit ‘Give It To Me’ with Justin Timberlake, 43, and the trio reunited on 2023’s ‘Keep Going Up’.
Nelly described being back in the studio with Timbaland and Justin as a “healing” experience.
Speaking on Emily Ratajkowski’s ‘High Low’ podcast about a phone call she had with her two former collaborators: “We connected. There was a real healing thing that happened.
“Between the three of us – me, Timbaland and JT – we’ve all had long careers with ups and downs and to me personally, doing this song together feels very authentic and is a mini-miracle.
“It started with Tim and JT. Tim texted me like, ‘Yo, I’ve got a track for you, it’s a dance vibe, for a trio,’ and I was like, ‘You mean with JT?’ And he was like, ‘Yes’.
“Him and JT have been working on music for like a year already, separately from me, so they just had an idea and they wanted me to woman the ship a little in my direction so they could feed off that.
“We just cooked it up.
“I think energetically it’s very positive. For me, the lyrics and everything are very real to me right now.”

Katy Perry planning tour of UK’s ‘nooks and crannies’

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry is planning to visit the “nooks and crannies” of the UK on a mammoth jaunt.
The ‘Woman’s World’ singer is yet to announce her next tour in support of her upcoming album, ‘143’, which lands on September 20, but she teased she plans to play all over, including Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Glasgow.
Speaking to Jordan North on Capital FM, she said: “I’m gonna go to all those spots too.”
Jordan asked: “Oh yeah, upcoming tour?”
Katy replied: “Yeah right.”
She said of her fans this side of the pond: “My UK fans are incredible.”
The 39-year-old pop star – who has three-year-old daughter Daisy with fiancé Orlando Bloom, 47 – will release the second single from the LP, ‘Lifetimes’, next week, inspired by her conversations with her little girl.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It is funny how sometimes you’re looking for your soulmate in a partner. It could be a dog, your mum, your best friend, your cat . . . but for me it came in the form of Daisy.
“I wrote Lifetimes about her. Every night, before we go to sleep, I say, ‘I love you’, and then I ask, ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’ and she says, ‘Yes’.”
Meanwhile, Katy has said she is “owning [her] sexuality” with her new music.
After she faced a backlash over her comeback single ‘Woman’s World’ and its accompanying raunchy music video, she insists she isn’t worried about the criticism as she’s happy to “celebrate” herself and her femininity.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, she told a French TV station: “I’m owning my sexuality. I am standing in it, and I feel really responsible. I don’t feel ashamed.
“I’m like, t*** out, and happy about it. My t*** give me life. I brought a child into this world, and she is alive because of them t******, so let’s celebrate them!”
Since bringing her daughter Daisy into the world with the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Katy feels she has evolved as an artist.
She added: “My life has changed a lot. I have a daughter who is almost four. Becoming a mother made me feel like… I became even more of a woman.”
The ‘Teenage Dream’ hitmaker promised her new album will make fans happy because she’s retained so much of the sound that propelled her to success in the 2010s.
She said: “It’s dance-pop with so much energy—bright and sexy. It’s divided into three parts.
“One is more like ‘Dark Horse’. Another blends ‘Walking on Air’, ‘Never Really Over’, and ‘Teenage Dream’. And the other part is quintessentially me, like ‘Hot N Cold’ and ‘California Gurls’.”
‘143’ will be Katy’s first album since 2020’s ‘Smile’, which reached number five on the UK albums chart.

Megan Thee Stallion is to perform at Kamala Harris’ Atlanta rally

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Thee Stallion is set to perform at Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential rally in Atlanta on Tuesday (30.07.24).
The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ rapper joins Charli XCX – who has adopted the slogan ‘Brat Summer’ thanks to her popular record ‘Brat’ – in endorsing Kamala to be president after Joe Biden stepped down.
After he announced he was giving his “full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee for our party this year”, Charli wrote on X: “Kamala IS brat.”
Charli’s post referred to the title of her latest album, released on June 7 – and soon after the post Kamala’s official campaign cashed in on the support by changing its banner on X to mimic the style of “brat”.
After the alteration, it read “kamala hq” in lowercase black lettering with a lime green background.
Charli – real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison – defined her take on the word “brat” in a video on TikTok, saying: “You’re just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes.
“Who feels herself but maybe also has a breakdown. But kind of like parties through it, is very honest, very blunt. A little bit volatile.
“Like does dumb things. But it’s brat. You’re brat. That’s brat.”
Some of Kamala’s most popular quotes and video clips were spliced together and set to Charli’s songs.
Many of the clips were tinted in the lime green hue of the singer’s ‘brat’ album cover – or the cover pops up in between clips of the politician.
One of the most used quotes in the clips is Kamala telling the US president: “We did it, Joe”, after he was elected in 2020 – making her the first female vice president in American history.
Kamala launched her first full day of campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination last Monday (22.07.24), following Joe’s withdrawal from the 2024 election race.

S Club were able to ‘celebrate’ the life of Paul Cattermole with their reunion tour

OHMYGOSSIP — S Club were able to “celebrate” the life of Paul Cattermole with their reunion tour.
The late singer died of heart-related issues in April 2023 at the age of just 46 but when his bandmates Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley Macintosh and Jo O’Meara hit the road again for the ‘Good Times’ show, they spent a lot of the time “just talking” about their tragic co-star.
Speaking on the ‘Happy Place’ podcast, she told host FearneCotton: “It was just devastating, obviously, the tour was happening, but we stopped and took a step back, and we just talked.
“We were there for each other, and really wanted to be mindful of his family, and be respectful… the tour took on a whole different meaning. “It became a really beautiful tribute and celebration of him.
“It was gorgeous to celebrate him in that way. He was always there. “There’d be lots of times where one of us would get emotional.
“It was really good. I think talking is the best thing ever, and it can never be a bad thing.”
The ‘Reach’ singers also featured Hannah Spearritt in their original lineup but, having dated Paul for period of time during their heyday, she felt unable to take part in the tour.
Prior to his death, Paul had endured years of financial hardship after shooting to fame as part of the ‘Bring It All Back’ hitmakers in the late 1990s and sold his BRIT award statue in an attempt to make ends meet.
But by the time Paul’s brother Colin went to see the show at London’s O2 Arena, the band had managed to buy the award back and were able Cgive it to him.
Colin wrote on Instagram: “This experience was not only surreal and emotional for me but also for my other brother, my wife, and Paul’s closest friends who shared the evening with us.
“After the show backstage, we had a heartfelt reunion with the band.
“To our astonishment, they had managed to retrieve my brother’s Brit Award and presented it to us as a touching gesture.”

The Queen of the 2000s is releasing her upcoming LP on the retro format which was hugely popular in the noughties.
Alongside pictures of her holding the artwork and the CD box alongside a portable CD player, she wrote on Instagram: “As the Queen of Y2k, I had to bring CDs back. Preorder the CD of my album #InfiniteIcon now at the link in bio! #iconic. (sic)”
Paris recently shared how she felt an instant connection with her latest song, ‘Chasin”, because it’s about walking away from “toxic relationships”.
The 43-year-old socialite teamed up with her pop star pal Meghan Trainor on the track from the LP – which is being co-produced by Sia – and the hotel heiress admitted the song feels perfect for her.
She told Rolling Stone: “[Meghan] put into words an experience that was so true for me; that time in your life when you find the confidence, power, and self-love, to walk away from toxic relationships and move forward with your life.”
Meghan went on to reveal she’d been working on the track for years until Paris managed to bring it to life.
She added: “I started working on this song years ago and knew I had to save it for someone very special. Paris brought it to a whole new level …

Frank Ocean shares studio snap, is new music on the way?

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Ocean has seemingly hinted new music is in the works with a picture of him playing the bass.
The allusive star has delighted fans with the snap from the studio this week on his Instagram Story.
Since his acclaimed 2016 LP ‘Blonde’, fans have had a slew of singles, including ‘DHL’, ‘In My Room’, ‘Cayendo’ and ‘Dear April’.
Ocean has also aired unreleased music on his Apple Music 1 ‘Blonded Radio’ show.
Last year, he also posted a preview of a new song for 24 hours.
In November, the ‘Chanel’ hitmaker took to his Instagram Story to share the clip of a new track that has a runtime of just under four minutes.
However, fans are still waiting for new material.
During his Coachella set last year, the music star confirmed a new album is on the way.
Upon returning to the stage after six years at the world-famous festival in April 2023, he teased: “I wanna talk about why we’re here … because it’s not about the new album… not that there’s NOT a new album.”
Excited fans waited over an hour for the star to take to the stage just after 11pm, despite his scheduled stage time of 10.05pm.
The 36-year-old star had previously made it known that he would release new music as one-off singles instead of album form, but he seemingly had a change of heart as he teased a new record on a poster for his merchandise.
The print noted that a “fictitious recording artist” (seemingly Ocean) preferred “the singles distribution model as opposed to the long-form album model,” as it was “more suited to modern consumption habits.”
The teaser came with the admission: “The Recording Artist has since changed his mind about the singles model, and is again interested in more durational bodies of work.”
The ‘Swim Good’ hitmaker is no longer signed to a label, after splitting from Def Jam Recordings before the release of ‘Blonde’.

Post Malone thought Blake Shelton’s song Austin was written about him as a kid

OHMYGOSSIP — Post Malone grew up believing Blake Shelton’s song ‘Austin’ was written about him.
The ‘Circles’ hitmaker, 29, and the country music star, 48, joined forces on the track ‘Pour Me A Drink’ from the former’s eagerly awaited country album, ‘F-1 Trillion’, and Post, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, told Blake his mom told him the 2001 song was all about him.
He told American Songwriter: “Post’s real name is Austin, and he told me that when he was a kid, his mom told him that that song was written about him.
“That’s what he told me, and he said he believed it. His mom was, I guess, the country music fan in the family, and his dad was the rock guy. So, I guess that’s how Post Malone was created.”
Blake – who is married to No Doubt star Gwen Stefani – still hasn’t asked Post why he chose him for the collaboration.
He said: “He’s just so excited about music.
“I mean, literally, we spent an hour one night him just with his iPod playing me music that he is fired up about. I still, to this day, have never asked him, ‘Hey, why me? Why did you call me for this?’”
On not asking why he selected him for the tune, he explained: “I didn’t because at the end of the day, I just, for whatever reason, he asked me to do it – I’m proud.
“I’m proud of that record. I’m proud to have worked with him. I think he’s an incredibly talented guy. Now that I’ve spent some time with him, it’s no mystery to me that he’s as huge as he is as an artist and successful as he is because he’s just somebody that you just love being around. He’s just so much fun.”
Blake says Post grew up on country music and believes he’s probably been wanting to make a record like ‘F-1 Trillion’ for a while.
He said: “This guy grew up in Texas.
“I think just naturally he grew up hearing all this stuff, and so he’s just super excited about country music. I think he probably feels like a new artist again.”
Blake concluded: “Now he’s doing it, and you can tell he’s been holding it in for a while, and he’s super fired up about it.”
The follow-up to 2023’s ‘Austin’ also features the previously released singles ‘I Had Some Help’, featuring Morgan Wallen, 31, and ‘Guy For That’ with Luke Combs, 34.

Katy Perry tips ‘super mega big pop star’ Charli XCX to win Mercury Prize

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry has tipped Charli XCX to win the 2024 Mercury Prize.
The ‘Woman’s World’ singer has heaped praise on the ‘360’ hitmaker for working “so hard” to get to her “prime” and is vying for her to take home the prestigious accolade.
Appearing on BBC One’s ‘The One Show’, she said: “You guys, this is a Brat couch, Charli XCX.”
Asked who she would back to win the 2024 Mercury Prize, she insisted: “This is Brat summer, and your couches are Brat. And the trash cans are Brat. You guys are really Brat fans.”
Katy gushed: “She’s got all of her flowers; she works so hard, and she is a super mega big pop star.”
The 31-year-old singer, who recently made headlines for branding US Vice President runner Kamala Harris a “brat” as a compliment – as she said the term means a fun-loving woman – is shortlisted for her sixth studio record.
Also in the running are Irish country singer CMAT, 28, breakout dance act Barry Can’t Swim and BBC Sound of 2024 winners The Last Dinner Party – along with Beth Gibbons, who is nominated for her debut solo album ‘Forever Lives’.
It’s nearly 30 years since Portishead singer, 59, won the Mercury Prize with the band.
The winner will be revealed in September.
But – for the first time in the award’s 32-year history – there will be no public award ceremony.
The Prize’s broadcast partner BBC Music will provide exclusive television and radio coverage of the event.
A press release announcing the nominations read: “This year, other extensive promotional activity will replace the usual live performance event element of the Mercury Prize – details to be announced closer to the time.”
Established in 1992, the prize was set up to honour the best British or Irish album of the last year.
Returning nominees this year include Corinne Bailey Rae, 45, singer-songwriter Berwyn and 39-year-old rapper Ghetts – all of whom use their records to probe racism and inequality.
In a record high for the award nominations, eight of the 12 shortlisted artists are women or female-fronted bands.
Last year, the Mercury Prize was won for the first time by a jazz act, with Ezra Collective taking the gong for their second release, ‘What I’m Meant to Be’.

Chrissie Hynde prefers to play small gigs

OHMYGOSSIP — Chrissie Hynde prefers playing smaller venues with The Pretenders because they are better “for the audience and for the band”.
The group has played some huge shows in recent years supporting artists including Guns N’ Roses and the Foo Fighters, but Chrissie has explained they will be going back to performing in “clubs and theatres” for their own concerts because it’s a more enjoyable experience and they don’t worry about “money” and “prestige”.
In a post on Instagram, she wrote: ” Over these past years, people often ask why we aren’t playing in bigger venues i e. arenas? The simple answer is: Clubs and theatres are better venues for the audience and for the band.
“Personally, I have never stayed for a three hour show, and I like to see the band on stage rather than on screens if I’m in the audience.
“And if I’m on stage, I like to see every audience member right up to the back of the balcony.”
She went on to add: “So yes, we could be playing bigger places, making more money, and in some people’s eyes, garnering more prestige … but we really don’t give a s*** about that stuff.
“We have loved supporting Stevie Nicks, Phil Collins, Guns N’ Roses, and now the Foo Fighters in huge venues, but for our own shows we like to keep it reined in.”
The Pretenders are currently touring the US performing in theatres in cities such as San Fransisco, Austin and Sacramento over the next few weeks and they will take the tour to Europe in September with dates in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany among others before heading to the UK for a series of shows in October.

Dave Navarro couldn’t play guitar for a year after Taylor Hawkins died

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Navarro couldn’t play guitar for a year after Taylor Hawkins died.
The 57-year-old musician had finished recording an album with the Foo Fighters drummer and bassist Chris Chaney under the banner NHC shortly before his friend passed away in March 2022 aged 50 and he admitted he found it too “painful” to pick up his instrument again in the aftermath of his pal’s shock death.
He told Guitar World magazine: “I’d just completed making a record with Taylor Hawkins and Chris Chaney.
“We mixed and mastered it, and then we lost Taylor. That was in the middle of COVID, and it was actually very painful for me to pick up the guitar after that.
“I didn’t pick up the guitar for about a year. He was such an inspiring artist — not only was he a phenomenal drummer, he was an amazing songwriter and lyricist… just one of those humans that everybody loved.
“After losing Taylor I didn’t play for a long time. Then, about a year into it, I picked up the guitar, started playing some cover songs, and just kind of got used to the instrument in my hand again,” he said.
Dave – who rejoined Jane’s Addiction earlier this year and returned to the stage with them in London in May – eventually rediscovered his love of playing guitar by studying some of his favourite musicians while battling long COVID.
He said: “Since I had the illness, I was housebound for a long time, and that’s when I really started getting into some out-there guitar players I normally didn’t study, like [session great] Jay Graydon.
“I started studying Jay, and I started diving deep into Van Halen, tone chasing, and reading everything I could about the gear [Eddie Van Halen] used, may have used, or that’s rumored to have been used.”
Dave even revisited his own back catalogue.
He added: “I spent most of my days during my illness just kind of woodshedding guitar and relearning things. I played Jane’s Addiction records front to back and tried to relearn things I’d played in the ’80s and ’90s that I’d forgotten.
“That was a challenge, and that was fun. And because I knew I was gearing up to join again at some point, the band wanted to start working on new music. I was well enough to go in a studio and sit in a chair. I’d sit for 10 hours, so that was easy, and we wrote some new music.”
