Wyn Starks ‘screamed’ with joy over Celine Dion endorsement

OHMYGOSSIP — Wyn Starks admitted having his song feature in Celine Dion’s documentary has been a “dream come true”.
The former ‘America’s Got Talent’ hopeful “screamed” when he found out the “iconic” singer listened to his track ‘Who I Am’ for “inspiration and strength” amid her battle with stiff person syndrome because he has always looked up to her.
He said: “Having ‘Who I Am’ featured in the Celine Dion documentary, ‘I Am Celine Dion’, is an honour and pinch me moment.
“I think I screamed when I found out, haha.
“I was told she listened to it for inspiration and strength. That alone blew me away. Cause that’s what she’s done for us.
“To have such an iconic, amazing artist who has inspired me and so many others to have my song included in her documentary is a dream come true and a validation of the hard work and passion that went into creating it. It’s an incredible, surreal feeling.”
Wyn performed the song on ‘America’s Got Talent’ back in 2022 in honour of his late twin brother Caine, who passed away in 2020, and he felt it marked a “turning point” in his career.
He said: “I wrote ‘Who I Am’ around the time I moved to Nashville. It’s a personal reflection of the experiences that have shaped me into the artist and person I am today.
“It’s a story about my journey of self-discovery, resilience, and embracing my true self.
“Performing ‘Who I Am’ on ‘America’s Got Talent’ was an incredibly emotional moment for me. I dedicated the performance to my twin brother, Caine Starks.
“It was one of his favourite songs, and it was a way to honour his memory and share a piece of my heart with the world.
“That performance was a turning point in my career. It really showed me the power of music and how it connects us all.”

Queens Of The Stone Age cancel more festival dates

OHMYGOSSIP — Queens Of The Stone Age have cancelled more tour dates after frontman Josh Homme underwent emergency surgery.
The band previously axed several shows – including festival dates in Slovakia, Berlin and Vienna – earlier this month after it was revealed the rocker needed to fly back to the US for medical treatment and now it’s been revealed they’ve axed more shows so Homme can remain under the care of doctors.
A statement from the band read: “Due to continued medical care, it is under doctors’ orders that Josh Homme remain in their care in the United States. The following QOTSA festival performances have been cancelled …
“The Homme family and QOTSA are so grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and kind understanding during this time.”
The newly axed dates include planned performance at the Way Out West festival in Sweden, Oya Festival in Norway, Sydforsolen in Denmark, Le Cabaret Vert in France, Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands, Pukkelpop in Belgium and Vilar de Mouros Festival in Portugal.
The statement added that fans should “check festival websites for further information”.
The band is due to launch a North American tour in Boston on September 27, but it’s not yet known if Homme will be well enough to take part. No further details about his medical condition have been given.
They released their last album ‘ ‘In Times New Roman’ last year and guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen recently hinted they are planning to take some time off before making plans for 2025.
He told NME: “I think we’re going to take a little break. I know we have some plans for next year that are loosely being talked about.”

Adele flogging €35 Lucky Dip tickets to Munich residency

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele is flogging €35 Lucky Dip tickets to her Munich residency.
Just days before she is due to kick off the 10-date run at the custom-built stadium, on August 2, the Grammy winner is giving fans the chance to attend – without knowing where they will be seated or standing until the day of the gig.
A listing on Ticketmaster reads: “Location of the ticket will be allocated the day of show, anywhere from the back row to standing in the front.
“€35 per ticket, inclusive of all fees.
“The location cannot be changed once allocated.
“Maximum purchase of 2 tickets per person
“Tickets must be collected from the box office in person, day of show
“Tickets cannot be transferred or resold.
“There are a very limited number of Lucky Dip tickets available each week, when they are gone, they are gone!”
Adele recently announced she has no plans to release new music anytime soon as she prepares to take a “big break”.
Following the conclusion of her Las Vegas residency in November, the 36-year-old superstar is planning to take things easy and spend quality time with her sports agent partner Rich Paul, 42, and her 11-year-old son Angelo – whom she has with ex-spouse Simon Konecki.
The ‘Hello’ hitmaker told German outlet ZDF: “I don’t have any plans for new music, at all.
“I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
Adele has made no secret of the fact that she is also keen to have another baby.
The ‘I Set Fire To The Rain’ hitmaker previously confessed she is a long way off from returning to the studio to work on a follow-up to 2021’s ’30’, however, Adele promised that when she does return with a new record, she will do a world tour.
She told gig-goers at her ‘Weekends With Adele’ Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace earlier this year: “I just don’t think I’m gonna write an album for quite some time.
“But next time I do, I’ll come to wherever it is you live.”
The singer extended her Sin City residency and reflected on how performing and having intimate interactions with her fans has helped her “reconnect” with her music.
The ‘Chasing Pavements’ singer also explained why she started disappearing from the limelight for long periods before releasing a new album.
She said: “Sometimes I wonder if people think I’m calculated when I disappear for years on end and I’m elusive and I believe that less is more or something like that.
But the real reason that I’ve only had four albums and I don’t think that many people know this – they know that I have a child – my son is 11 years old. So if you do the math, that means that at the height of ‘21’… I fell pregnant. To many that would be, and it was, considered career suicide.
“It was there and then that I chose to reject the scarcity of success, and the idea that you have to be constantly relevant to be successful.
“And that perhaps, just maybe, I could be a hit both on and off the stage. And you’ll never guess what — I [redacted] got away with it!”

Heather Small wants to return to Glastonbury in 2025

OHMYGOSSIP — Heather Small has made it known she wants to return to Glastonbury in 2025.
The 59-year-old soul star and M People bandleader would like to celebrate her 60th birthday and three decades since she last performed at the world-famous music festival by returning to Worthy Farm and doing a duet.
She told The Mirror: “I’m going to be 60 next year, so I’ve got this kind of bucket list.
“I’m going to be supporting, Wet Wet Wet, I’ll be supporting Take That, I’ll be supporting Marti Pellow. But there’s some things that I want to do. Next year it will be like 30 years since I played Glastonbury, so I’d like to play Glastonbury again. And I think the whole thing where they’ve got the women coming and doing their thing, I think that I would slot quite easily into that kind of mould. Maybe do a duet.”
Heather insists it was extremely hard to “keep up the momentum” in her day, because there was no such thing as TikTok, and insists M People wasn’t the “hit machine” people think.
After speaking about the blow her old band Hot House were dealt of being “paid off” instead of releasing their album, she explained: “I got the opportunity again with M People and we just gave it our all.
“People think that it’s a hit machine and that you count on it. There’s no such thing, not for us. We just wrote and sung songs that we enjoyed and believed in and put them out there. Sometimes you’re on a roll, and you try just to keep up the momentum.
“And that’s what it is, because nobody can guarantee a hit, you know, there was nothing like this whole thing about followers and TikTok, you know. I joined the band in an old fashioned way. I answered an ad in a music paper.”
Heather was awarded an MBE on the King’s Birthday Honours list for her philanthropy.
She said: “It has been a humbling and slightly surreal experience to be recognised for my charity work.
“I am truly grateful that this honour will help me to continue to highlight those causes that are of immense importance to me.”

Rising singer Nell Mescal insists there is no nepotism involved because of actor brother Paul Mescal

OHMYGOSSIP — Nell Mescal doesn’t make music to have a “TikTok” moment and tries to distance herself from her actor brother Paul Mescal’s fame.
The 21-year-old singer-songwriter was already starting out in music when her older sibling shot to fame playing heartthrob Connell in the 2020 romantic psychological drama series ‘Normal People’, but she can understand why people assume she is just riding on the back of her famous name, as she wasn’t as far along in her career at the time.
Paul, 28, has since become a huge movie star and can next be seen starring in the ‘Gladiators’ sequel.
In an interview with The Independent, Nell – who released her debut EP, ‘Can I Miss it for a Minute?’, in May – said: “I was already a musician when [Paul got famous].
“I don’t want it to seem like I’m salty about it, because I understand from an outsider’s perspective, they’re seeing one person get famous and [another] person figuring out what they’re doing.”
The musician has worked hard to get to where she is and wants to be in music for the rest of her life.
She continued: “Especially now, with this EP, I hope that anyone who thinks that that’s the only reason I’m doing it, listens and realises that I don’t just want to be here for a TikTok moment or whatever.
“I want to be doing this when I’m like, 70, until I actually can’t do it anymore.”
Nell – who accompanied the ‘All of Us Strangers’ star to the Oscars – insists the music world is entirely different to acting, adding: “I don’t think people realise just how far apart music and film are. When I go to those events with him, I’m just a fly on the wall, running around.”
Nell admitted it “makes my skin crawl” when there is gossip about her brother and she can’t bite back.
She said: “We find it really funny, because they’re never true, are they, like… who is making this up?!
“To not be able to go, ‘F*** you guys, it’s not true,’ I find that pretty hard. It makes my skin crawl.”
And the singer shared how she lost people in her life who find her career “weird” but she is “so lucky” to have the support of her family, also including her big brother, Donnacha, who share lives with in London.
Their mother Dearblha – who has recently battled cancer – worked as a police officer, whilst their dad, also Paul, was a schoolteacher.

Harry Styles, Dua Lip and Ed Sheeran for huge charity gig

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles, Dua Lip and Ed Sheeran are being lined up to headline a massive fundraising concert.
The trio are among a host of stars – which also includes Robbie Williams, Sir Rod Stewart, Kylie Minogue, Coldplay, Ellie Goulding and Sam Smith – who are set to be approached about performing at a special charity gig to mark 50 years of the Silver Clef awards in 2026.
Nordoff and Robbins CEO Sandra Schembri told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “We are talking to all the people that love us and we are seeing what might be possible.
“We have someone who is working out who, where and what is possible, who would be willing to come back and who would be willing to support us.
“When we did Knebworth, there was not a penny to raise.
“Sometimes, when you work with artists, the artists will do it for free. There is always the production costs and all the get up, but with Knebworth, they paid for everything.
“The artists laid back on all their costs. We were very lucky.”
The concert would replicate the 1990 Silver Clef Winners concert, which raised millions to set up the Brit School and the Nordoff and Robbins music therapy centre.
Schembri added: “Knebworth 2026 would be great as that is how we and The Brit School got our centres.
“About £6million [$7.7 million] was raised — £3million[$3.8m million] bought us our Nordoff and Robbins London centre. I think it is Europe’s largest music therapy centre because of that concert.
“There will be 49 Silver Clef winners by the time we get to the gig.
“Some have passed away, like David Bowie, but it would be great to have as many as we can back. Can they help us get to the next generation?”

Jessica Simpson begs sister Ashlee to return to music

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Simpson has begged her sister Ashlee to record a new album.
Ashlee, 39, followed her pop star sister Jessica into music and released three records before turning her hand to acting. She’s been absent from the music industry for many years but made a return to the stage to perform a one-off gig at the Evita nightclub in West Hollywood, California on Saturday (20.07.24) night – and videos of her performance left her sibling in tears.
Jessica shared clips of Ashlee on stage on Instagram and wrote: “I woke up this mornin’ cryin’ like a fan girl nerd sister watchin’ this from last night!!!
“You are a f****** rockstar Ash! You looked, sounded, and moved like you never missed a day on stage. It was simply EPIC! What a beautiful moment with all of your back up singers (the entire crowd) … CHILLS … ”
Jessica went on to publicly beg Ashlee to get back into the studio to record new music – and even suggested they head out on a joint tour.
She added: “You were born for this! Make a record asap! Let’s tour together and take the kids! I am so proud to be your sister!!! You are INCREDIBLE! @ashleesimpsonross.”
Ashlee took to the stage to mark the 20th anniversary of her debut album ‘Autobiography’ which was released on 20 July 2004. She also announced the release of an extended edition of the record which features three songs which were not included on the original US version of the album.
Ashlee told Stereogum: “The extended version is just songs that I didn’t release in the State. It’s songs that I would perform [like] ‘Harder Everyday.’ I wished that was on ‘Autobiography’.
” loved that song. I wrote that with John Feldmann years ago, actually, and the Madden brothers, so it’s going to be that and a few of the other songs that I wrote a while ago.”
Ashlee also revealed she is actually planning to release new music in the future and she’s hoping to schedule some more live shows this year. She added: “I am in the studio making new music … so that will be coming …

Latto addresses supposed rivalry with Ice Spice as she admits everyone ‘takes little jabs in music’

OHMYGOSSIP — Latto doesn’t take rap battles seriously.
The 25-year-old musician – whose real name is Alyssa Michelle Stephens – is thought to have developed something of a rivalry with fellow rapper Ice Spice, 24, in recent months but ahead of the release of her EP ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea’ admitted that she doesn’t really mean anything by the lyrics she writes.
She told Billboard: “If I was to do it, it would have to be with somebody I feel like Imma go tit for tat with. I really don’t mean it as shade. Would she even want to do that? I feel like she’s doing her in her lane. Everybody gon’ take their lil jabs in the music, and it’s not even that serious to me.”
The ‘Sunday Service’ hitmaker also explained that there is a difference between the real version of herself and the alter ego she uses to perform under as she remembered being as young as eight years old when she first started rapping.
She said: “Who is Latto? That’s a good question cuz I’m always like Alyssa. Latto is just Alyssa at work. Alyssa’s just 23 year old Capricorn. Did I just say 23? I did not just try to lie about my age like that. I’m definitely 25, I’m about to be 26. I started rapping in like eight years old for real.
“I was rapping about like haters in school. And my daddy had like a whole bunch of like old school cars and like I was probably like, my daddy picked me up from school in that candy paint don’t. I feel like eight year old me was more cocky than I am now.
“My sound today I feel like is very southern rooted, no shade it’s not a viral sensation..”

Katy Perry ‘owning’ her sexuality with new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry is “owning [her] sexuality” with her new music.
The 39-year-old pop star – who has three-year-old daughter Daisy with fiance Orlando Bloom – faced a backlash over her comeback single ‘Woman’s World’ and its accompanying raunchy music video, but she isn’t worried about the criticism as she’s happy to “celebrate” herself and her feminiinity.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, she told a French TV station: “I’m owning my sexuality. I am standing in it, and I feel really responsible. I don’t feel ashamed.
“I’m like, t*** out, and happy about it. My t*** give me life. I brought a child into this world, and she is alive because of them t******, so let’s celebrate them!”
Since bringing her daughter Daisy into the world with husband and actor Orlando Bloom, 47, Katy feels she has evolved as an artist.
She added: “My life has changed a lot. I have a daughter who is almost four. Becoming a mother made me feel like… I became even more of a woman.”
The ‘Teenage Dream’ hitmaker promised her new album, ‘143’ – which will be released on 20 September – will make fans happy because she’s retained so much of the sound that propelled her to success in the 2010s.
She said: “It’s dance-pop with so much energy—bright and sexy. It’s divided into three parts.
“One is more like ‘Dark Horse’. Another blends ‘Walking on Air’, ‘Never Really Over’, and ‘Teenage Dream’. And the other part is quintessentially me, like ‘Hot N Cold’ and ‘California Gurls’.”
143 will be Katy’s first album since 2020’s Smile, which reached number five on the UK albums chart.

Halsey says new album is experimental

OHMYGOSSIP — Halsey has teased her new album is very eclectic and “all over the place”.
The 29-year-old singer took to X – formerly known as Twitter – to take questions from her 13.9 million followers about her upcoming fifth album, the follow-up to 2021’s ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’.
One fan asked if Halsey could “give a hint” about what kind of music the new album will feature to which Halsey responded: “MV director gonna make everyone flip out.”
Another fan asked: “Is this era like manic and have mixed genres? Or more cohesive??”
Halsey answered: “All over the place. When I started writing it, I thought it might be the last album I ever got the chance to make. so I tried to do whatever I’d been wanting to do, but hadn’t tried yet.”
The pop star has been living with multiple health challenges the past few years, including lupus and endometriosis, and there are songs on the LP which document those challenges.
She continued: “I wrote a lot about what I was going through. I felt like I couldn’t tell anyone, though it was mostly my choice to not. But the weight of it all and looking at my life wondering if I was happy with who I was. While simultaneously changing against my will. more on that later lol.”
Back in June, the ‘Without Me’ singer revealed to her fans that she had lupus and T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.
She said: “In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life.
“After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to. I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all Singing and screaming my heart out.”

While beginning to play the band’s track ‘Everglow’ on the piano, Martin shared a heartfelt message for the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker who completed her three ‘Eras Tour’ shows in nearby city Gelsenkirchen last Friday (19.07.24).
Speaking from the stage at the Merkur Spiel-Arena, Martin said: “Now this is for Taylor Swift because she left town.
“This is for all of you who feel sad today because Taylor had to go to the next city.
“So we sing this love song, this heartbreak song, and send it to Taylor wherever she is today.”
Following her three nights at the Veltins-Arena, Taylor took to Instagram to thank her German fans for their enthusiasm and support, sharing photos and videos from the concerts.
‘The Blank Space’ singer posted: “Those 3 Gelsenkirchen crowds were AMAZING, and so thoughtful?
“There were signs and paper hearts, the ‘Betty’ wave, and tons of DIY ‘willow’ orbs made out of balloons + phone flashlights. Thank you!!!”
Swift, 34, also expressed her appreciation for the incredible response to her latest LP, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, which stayed at number one for its first 12 weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart, a milestone she had never achieved before.
She posted: “I also wanted to say to everyone who’s supported ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, I am completely blown away by what you’ve done – it stayed at #1 for the first 12 weeks of its release and that’s never happened to an album of mine before, not even close!
“You’re just the greatest. Anyway, now that we’ve officially kicked off our shows in Germany, I can’t wait to see you all in Hamburg next!”

NSYNC ‘seeing if car will still drive’ as fans call for reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — *NSYNC are “seeing if the car will still drive” with fans clamouring for a reunion.
The ‘Bye Bye Bye’ hitmakers – made up of Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick – recorded a new song for ‘Trolls Band Together’ last year, before joining JT on stage during his ‘Forget The World Tour’ in March and later releasing ‘Paradise’ on his latest album ‘Everything I Thought I Was’.
Asked about future plans – including a tour and new music – Chris told Entertainment Tonight: “Well, we’ve been talking about it for a while.
“We’re kicking the tires, seeing if the car will still drive, and, you know, we’ll see where it leads.”
The 52-year-old singer is adamant that the iconic boyband “can’t disappoint” their fans, but he admitted it’s not necessarily “a positive” update.
He added: “Hopefully, you know, we’re all kind of in agreement that, moving forward, our fanbase and a lot of people, still want this.
“So we can’t disappoint them. So it’s not a positive, but it’s a we’ll see.”
Chris was “smiling the whole time” when the group performed together earlier this year, and he was overjoyed when their hit ‘Bye Bye Bye’ was included in the soundtrack for ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
He recalled: “When we got the call, like, we sign off on a lot of stuff for the songs and it’s like, ‘Oh, sign off for this, sign off for this,’ I saw Deadpool and right away and I was like, ‘I will outvote everybody in this band! That this song will be in it’.
“It didn’t matter what they were gonna vote! I outvote them anyways, I can kick all their a****. But, of course, we did [want it in the movie].”
Lance previously admitted he had “no idea” there would be such a demand for the group to make a comeback.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “It is beautiful, you know? To be this age and the fans are still this excited, it is a dream come true.
“I had no idea the fandom would go this nuts. It was pretty emotional, the first time we all got in the studio together.”

‘I’m going to roll my sleeves up!’ Queens of the Stone Age issue next album update

OHMYGOSSIP — Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has admitted they won’t wait another six years to release their next album.
The rockers released eighth studio album ‘In Times New Roman…’ last year, a follow up to 2017’s ‘Villains’, but singer Josh insisted he is going to “roll up [his] sleeves” because there was “too much” of a gap between their latest records.
Speaking on the ‘Dish’ podcast, he said: “There was too much time in between the last record and this one.
“The goal is to make things and enjoy that process and so I’m going to roll up my sleeves and jump right into this.”
Josh also heaped praise on Dave Grohl for aiding his career, admitting the Foo Fighters frontman is like a “brother” to him.
He added: “No one has done more for me in my career than Dave, as a mouthpiece of just telling people, ‘You gotta hear this guy,’ than Dave has.
“He definitely told the world about me and my vast and endless well of talent, and he’s just always been like a brother.”
In June, Queens of the Stone Age – who headlined Download Festival this year – teased they have “some aces in some sleeves”, but admitted they were embarking on a “little break” first.
Guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen told NME of their plans after Download and the rest of their shows this year: “Sleep! I think we’re going to take a little break.
“I know we have soe plans for next year that are loosely being talked about.”
Drummer Jon Theodore added: “There are definitely some aces in some sleeves so to speak…”

Slayer guitarist Gary Holt prefers listening to Taylor Swift over heavy metal

OHMYGOSSIP — Slayer guitarist Gary Holt “loves” Taylor Swift.
The thrash metal star would much rather play pop records by the likes of Taylor, Madonna and the late George Michael than listen to heavy metal music.
He confessed on the ‘Scandalous’ podcast: “I love pop!
“I listen to pop mostly in the car, I don’t listen to metal.
“There’s some heavy s*** on [Sirius XM streaming]… but I’d rather listen to George Michael, myself.”
The 60-year-old musician cannot understand why the 34-year-old Grammy winner gets so much “hate”.
He continued: “I love Taylor Swift!
“Why all the hate? She’s an extraordinarily hard worker, she’s super f****** nice to everybody, and people hate her.
“She’s just the biggest pop star on Earth, and more power to her. I like the songs!”
Gary is also a fan of The Queen of Pop herself and would belt out her classic tune ‘Angel’ after one too many drinks – much to the disgust of his tour buddy, Conrad Lant of Venom.
He went on: “I’m not a Swiftie, but when I Knew You Were Trouble comes on the radio, I don’t change it.
“I like it! I like pop music. Always have, even back in the Bonded By Blood era [referring to Exodus’s 1985 debut album].
“I’d be out on tour with Venom, and I’d be drunk at the bar, singing every word to Madonna’s Angel. And Cronos [Venom singer/bassist Conrad Lant] was shaking his head, like, ‘What’s wrong with this guy?!’”
By contrast, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl recently got himself in hot water with Swifties when he poked fun at her by jokingly suggesting she and her band don’t play live.
Taylor was playing Wembley Stadium as part of ‘The Eras’ tour on the same night the rock group headlined the London Stadium last month and made a joke about the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker to the audience.
He reflected: “We were joking about the Taylor Swift tour earlier. I know that she’s on her ‘Eras Tour’. I’m telling you man; you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift.
“So we like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour’ because I feel like, we’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f****** errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we actually play live. What?”
He then went on to add: “I’m just saying, you guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f****** place.”
However, Dave did indeed appear to incur Taylor’s “wrath” as she seemingly hit back at his comments the following night when she played her third gig at Wembley Stadium and gave a shout out to her band for “playing live” for the entire set.
She told the crowd: “What you just did is an unforgettable moment in not just my life, but every very single one of our crew. The band that’s going to be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight.
“They deserve this so much and so does every one of my fellow performers, and you just gave that to us so generously. We’ll never forget it.”
