OHMYGOSSIP — Guy Garvey says his final conversation with his dad was “perfect”.
The Elbow frontman’s father Don died aged 84 in 2018 after a cancer battle, and the 47-year-old musician has recalled the final time they met before he travelled to Canada with wife Rachael Stirling while she spent three months working there.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “So I went to see dad and it was very tearful and moving and I said, ‘This might be the last time I see you.’
“He was adamant that it wouldn’t be. As I left the room, I said, ‘I love you Dad, you are the best dad.’
“He said, ‘I am not going anywhere, I will see you in a beer garden in the summer.’ They were the last words he ever said to me. And I thought that was perfect.”
Manchester-born Guy revealed his dad Don and mum Shirley were always proud of their working class roots, and he was inspired by their “love of words”.
He added: “Their love of words definitely filtered through into my songwriting. If we did not know a word at home, we had to look it up in the dictionary.
“Mum saw the extraordinary in the ordinary. my dad was this balance. All his jokes ended in the humiliation of the posh person.”
Meanwhile, the ‘One Day Like This’ hitmaker explained how his decision to pursue music rather than “a salaried career” hurt their relationship, but that all changed when his sister Gina took their dad to see Elbow at the Manchester Arena in 2003.
Guy said: “When he walked in, his jaw dropped. Gina realised not only had he never been to a concert of ours, he had never been to an arena.
“He was full of questions. ‘Who is that woman with Guy’s guitar?’ [His technician]. Does Guy employ her?’ Dad thought We were still in a transit van going to gigs.
“He was proud of his little lad. But from that day everything changed, we had a great friendship for the last 10-12 years of his life.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Sherlocks frontman Kiaran Crook was worried their new album would be a “shambles”.
The ‘Sorry’ band’s new LP ‘World I Understand’ – which drops on Friday (21.01.22) – is their first since brothers Josh and Andy Davidson quit at the beginning of lockdown, and the singer admitted he was nervous about the transition bringing Alex Proctor, Trent Jackson and Manic Street Preachers producer Dave Eringa into the fold, with the latter only available at a fortnight’s notice.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “I’d started teaching Trent and Alex our old songs before we’d even thought about the new album. When I heard Dave was available so soon, I thought, ‘Oh, hell!’
“We hammered it, with Alex and Trent sending me WhatsApp videos every day playing the new songs. Going into the studio on the first day, I thought, ‘This could be a shambles’.
“I wasn’t confident, as COVID meant we’d only had two band practices together, but they coped incredible well.”
While Trent changed roles after working as part of the band’s live crew, Alex was previously in a Sex Pistols tribute band.
Kiaran – who admitted he understands Josh and Andy’s decision to leave – hinted the band could pay tribute to new member Alex’s past.
He joked: “Alex still plays Sex Pistols songs during band practice. We might do a Pistols cover ourselves in honour of his past one day.”
Meanwhile, last year the group played at some of the UK’s beloved grassroots venues which have been hit hard financially amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and Kiaran previously warned that without these spaces “the next generation of bands can’t survive”.
He said: “A huge part of this industry relies on live gigs, and it’s not just the bands who are suffering as a result! It’s the venues, the staff, the guitar/drum techs, the sound engineers, the roadies…. the whole package! We hope this tour can help support these grassroot spaces which in turn helps those connected and gives upcoming bands the platform to grow.
“The message is simple. Without these venues, the next generation of bands can’t survive. Let’s take this tour to send a thank you to all the amazing places that have helped build some of the world’s most successful and inspiring bands!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Avril Lavigne says collaborating with Mark Hoppus was a “huge honour”.
The ‘Complicated’ hitmaker has teamed up with the Blink-182 legend on her track ‘All I Wanted’ – which features on her upcoming seventh album ‘Love Sux’ – and she was thrilled to get the chance to work with the pop punk icon.
Appearing on Mark’s show ‘After School Radio’ on Apple Music Hits, she said: “I was really excited to work with you. I mean, to be honest, you’re one of my favourite artists…
“[Blink-182 albums] ‘Dude Ranch’ and ‘Enema Of The State’… those were the records I was listening to in high school, and as a teenager and I feel like they were really impactful on me as I was coming into my own musical identity.”
The 37-year-old star opened up on their process and admitted while it was “different” working over Zoom, she was “really impressed” as she watched Mark in the studio.
She added: “I mean, I was so excited and I was really impressed with how efficient you are in the studio.
“You write, you record yourself, you can engineer, you sing, you’re playing.
“And so having you on the album is a huge honour for me. So I’m really excited about our collaboration.”
The ‘Sk8er Boi’ singer also described the album as a whole – which will be released on February 25 – as something she’ “wanted to make for a long time”.
She described the collection as her “most alternative record sonically”, and admitted she was letting loose with her rock influences this time round.
She said: “My last album [2019’s ‘Head Above Water’] was very introspective and deep and this one is just rocking all the way through. And I’m really excited to take this out and play these songs live.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ted Nugent has praised “dirtbag” Bruce Springsteen for surrounding himself with “the best musicians”.
The outspoken and politically conservative star – who noted he and The Boss are very different people “ideologically” – did have some kind words for the ‘Born in the USA’ rocker.
He told ‘That Jamieson Show’: “You couldn’t get further apart ideologically, politically or truth, logic and common sense-wise than me and Bruce Springsteen, but here I’ll show a little love for Bruce.
“I’ve been able to perform on the ‘Conan’ show with [Bruce’s] E Street Band, which is one of the greatest joys of my life. I’ve always been surrounded by the best musicians, and that’s the perfect example.
“We played ‘Jenny Take A Ride’ by Mitch Ryder, and Max [Weinberg] and the guys performed it with unbelievable accuracy and perfection and soulfulness. So I give him that salute for having that quality of virtuosos that deliver his music.”
He still branded Bruce a “dirtbag”, but insisted he wouldn’t want to “punch” the ‘Dancing In the Dark’ musician, despite their differences.
He added: “If nothing else, if I met Bruce, I wouldn’t punch him. I always have Mike Tyson with me, and I give him a hundred bucks to punch a**holes.
“And I wouldn’t have Mike punch him. I would say, ‘Mike, take a minute off. Go find some other a**hole to punch.’ ”
And he even thanked Bruce for his “powerful music”, although he doesn’t agree with the content.
He said: “I’m gonna say ‘thank you’ to Bruce Springsteen because we share the reverence and the admiration for musical integrity, enthusiasm. And you have to admit Bruce’s career is based on his musical heart and soul.
“The delivery and content of his lyrics I don’t abide by most of the time, but I would thank him for his enriching lives with powerful music.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Specials would love to collaborate and tour with fellow Ska legends Madness.
Hor­ace Panter has revealed there was “talk” of the two groups doing a co-headline jaunt at some point, and the 68-year-old bassist insisted they are even open to hitting the studio with their old 2 Tone Records label mates.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “Let’s see what we can do. There was talk about a doubleheader, but nor­mally if we are mak­ing a record then they are tak­ing a break, but it would be good to do something with those guys.”
The Specials – who formed in 1977 in Coventry – reunited in 1993, and have performed with various different lineups over the years, none of them including 2 Tone founder and former keyboardist, Jerry Dammers, 66.
The ‘Ghost Town’ hitmakers now comprise Horace, guitarist Lynval Golding, 70, and vocalist 62-year-old Terry Hall.
The group released the covers collection ‘Protest Songs – 1924 -2012’ in October.
The Specials also embarked on a 2021 UK tour in support of 2019 LP ‘Encore’, their first number one album since 1980, and the first new material with vocalist Terry since 1981’s ‘Ghost Town’.
As for Madness, their last studio effort was 2016’s ‘Can’t Touch Us Now’.
However, in December 2019, the band released the new protest single, ‘Bullingdon Boys (Don’t Get Bullied by the Bully Boys)’.
Suggs and co have been staples at festivals over the years, including their very own House of Common Festival.
And to celebrate 40 years since the release of their first album (1971’s ‘One Step Beyond…’), the ‘Baggy Trousers’ hitmakers released the autobiography and docuseries of the same name, ‘Before We Was We: Madness by Madness’, in 2021.
Suggs – whose real name is Graham McPherson – previously admitted he can hardly believe the band has lasted this long.
The 61-year-old singer – who took over as lead vocalist in 1977, following the departure of Dikron Tulane – said: “It is amazing that we’ve been able to do this for so long. It constantly surprises me – for me, I’m one of those people that the 80s only feel like ten years ago to me.
“It’s a privilege to still be doing this, we’ve done festivals all over Britain and still enjoying it, which is great.
“We spend more time arguing than anything else, but it’s healthy and we all still get on great and that’s the major important point about it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — George Ezra is set to make his hotly-anticipated comeback this week, with the new single ‘Anyone For You’.
The ‘Shotgun’ hitmaker hasn’t released original music since 2018, though he released the festive top 10 hit ‘Come On Home For Christmas’ in partnership with Amazon in December.
The 28-year-old chart-topper’s new track, which arrives on Friday (28.01.22), is the first taste of the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Staying At Tamara’s’ LP.
After teasing fans with a countdown timer on his website, George finally unveiled his new track and revealed more new music is to come.
Taking to Twitter, he announced: “I can’t quite believe I’m saying this, in fact I’m not exactly sure how to say this… I guess… NEW MUSIC it’s true! My new single ‘Anyone For You’ will be out next Friday, 28th January!

Meanwhile, the ‘Blame It On Me’ singer recently admitted he is in a different place than he was when he was promoting his 2018 album.
George – who sought therapy for anxiety – said: “I ended the last album wired, I was quite wound up. I was an uptight person, which I had never been before. It was an idea of control – and lack thereof.”
However, lockdown gave him time to sit back and reflect on his career thus far, and the success he’s achieved.
He said: “I’ve only ever known this thing as being full-on, all-consuming madness. At this point though – I don’t want my manager to hear this – I’m up for it.
“I feel so fortunate with the conversations going on. We’re talking about future shows and different artworks and what a show might look like.
“I don’t know what it is that’s changed in me, but something has. I go, ‘This is real life, this is what you get to talk about’. It’s a really beautiful thing to wake up and be involved in something creative.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry has “loads more surprises” for fans this year, including a potential new track with DJ Zedd.
The 37-year-old pop megastar – who is currently completing a stint in Las Vegas – recently dropped the dance-pop track ‘When I’m Gone’ with electronic music superstar, Alesso, and now it’s been reported she has another song lined up with her ‘365’ collaborator, Zedd.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Katy has been working hard and is determined to make 2022 her year.
“Her current Las Vegas residency has nearly sold out and there is a lot of new music in the works.
“A number of collabs have been set up, including a track with Zedd. Katy has got loads more surprises in store for the next 12 months.
“She has been finding her feet again in terms of music after becoming a mum in 2020, but the success of her residency so far as got her really excited for what’s to come.”
Katy recently admitted she loves how her ‘Katy Perry:PLAY’ run at the Resorts World Theatre allows her to be “artistic” and also get to be there for her 16-month-old daughter, Daisy Dove – whom she has with fiance Orlando Bloom – which suggests fans could see more of the ‘I Kissed A Girl’ hitmaker on stage in Sin City.
She said: “I really wanted to be able to strike more of a balance – to have a child and take her to preschool – but also be artistic and play with that energy.”
The ‘Smile’ singer shared how having sweet “moments” as a family are “so important” to her.
Katy added: “Orlando and I just did a hike with our daughter. We went to look at some ducks and turtles because it’s so important for me to have those moments every single day, especially when I’m working from 2pm to 9pm.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Bellamy “embarrassed” his kids dancing in the crowd at a Twenty One Pilots gig.
The Muse frontman – who has Bingham, 10, with Hollywood star Kate Hudson, and 19-month-old Lovella with model Elle Evans – took to Instagram to share the moment band member Tyler Joseph appeared next to him during the duo’s recent performance at the iHeart Radio ALTer EGO show, and he started throwing some serious shapes.
Matt captioned fan footage of himself dad dancing at the packed-out concert at The LA Forum: “When you’ve taken the kids to see @twentyonepilots and @tylerrjoseph decides to come in the crowd, sings right next to you, and you embarrass yourself, your family and everyone in the building.”
The 43-year-old rocker poking fun at himself comes after Muse made their comeback last week, with the new single ‘Won’t Stand Down’.
The industrial-heavy anti-bullying anthem is their first new music since 2018’s ‘Simulation Theory’ LP.
Speaking of the track, Matt said: “’Won’t Stand Down’ is a song about standing your ground against bullies, whether that be on the playground, at work or anywhere. Protecting yourself from coercion and sociopathic manipulation and to face adversity with strength, confidence and aggression.”
The track was accompanied by an epic music video shot in Ukraine with Jared Hogan at the helm.
Matt had previously claimed the trio – completed by Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard – were considering moving back to their hometown of Teignmouth in Devon, South West England, to record the tracks for their upcoming ninth studio album.
Speaking last year, he said: “I like the idea of totally resetting and going back to where we come from.
“As in, physically moving back to our hometown and getting back to how we used to be at square one. We’re likely to get in the studio next year to make a new album of some kind and then tour after that, depending on the travel restrictions.”
A title and release date for their new collection are yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile, the ‘Plug In Baby’ rockers were just announced as headliners for the ​Isle Of Wight festival on June 19.
Lewis Capaldi and Kasabian are also set to top the bill at the music extravaganza held in Newport, Isle of Wight, between June 16

OHMYGOSSIP — Every Time I Die have announced their split.
This week, the US metalcore group’s band members Jordan Buckley, Andy Williams, Stephen Micciche and Clayton ‘Goose’ Holyoak issued a statement confirming the end of the ‘Wanderlust’ rockers after their lawyer served legal papers to frontman Keith Buckley, who they claim has not communicated with them regarding “something planned to be released not mutually agreed upon that consists of inaccuracies and controls a narrative to benefit one.”
The social media statement read: “Andy, Jordan, Steve and Goose’s last show with Every Time I Die was on Dec 11, 2021. While we hoped to come to an agreement upon legal statement that outlines the truth, we were informed today of something planned to be released not mutually agreed upon that consists of inaccuracies and controls a narrative to benefit one.
“There has been no direct communication with Keith, because it’s either impossible for direct communication with him solely or we’ve been cut off to any and all communication by himself.
“Every Time I Die was these 5 members, and we were never budging or accepting any chances. Simply, there is zero truth about the band continuing on with a new singer.”
Thanking their fans for their support and cherished memories over the past two decades, they concluded: “Lastly, we wouldn’t be where we are today without every single person that’s backed the band in any and all ways. While we’re extremely disappointed in how this was played out online in front of you, your support and the memories we have because of you will all be cherished.”
Keith took to his Instagram page to share the letter he received from New York’s Savur Law in December 2021 and highlighted the fact he was given seven days to reply.
The notice asked that the 42-year-old vocalist “immediately cease and desist all usage of the Band name, logo, or other intellectual property until there is a formal signed separation agreement between the parties.”
The demise of the band comes days after they cancelled their tour, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Keith is still due to embark on his ‘An Evening With…’ tour of the UK and Ireland, which kicks off in London on February 7.
Since forming in 1998, Every Time I Die have released nine studio albums.
Their final record was October 2021’s ‘Radical’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Elvis Costello thinks a lot of modern music is “square”.
The ‘Pump It Up’ hitmaker admitted he “doesn’t like much rock music” and finds it hard to single out a record from the last 30 years that he could count among his favourites because he doesn’t think there is anything exciting about the way they sound.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: “I don’t like much rock music. I like rock & roll. I think if you lose the roll part, a lot of the fun goes out of it.
“And when people ask me, ‘What’s your favorite record?’ I usually don’t name any electric-guitar records made in the last 30 years because the beat is so square.
“I like things that float a bit or swing a bit, whether it’s rock & roll or actual jazz that swings, or even the way Hank Williams records lope.
“You listen to these records out of Nashville, they couldn’t float if you filled them full of water. They just don’t; they’re square and they sound like bad rock records from the Nineties. To my ear, they just do. But somebody likes them.”
But the 67-year-old singer insisted he didn’t want to criticise anyone in particular.
he added: “My grandfather — he was a trumpet player — never used to criticise other musicians. I’m trying to live by his example a little better these times and not be so critical of everybody else. But you can’t like everything.”
Elvis also admitted he wishes he had a wider vocal range himself.
Asked if he ever wishes he could record songs in a different style, he said: “I wish I could sing certain types of tunes that I’ll never be able to sing. I don’t think I’m ever going to sing as a countertenor.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Razorlight are working on a new album.
The ‘Golden Touch’ hitmakers confirmed last April their classic line-up – Johnny Borrell, Björn Ågren, Carl Dalemo and Andy Burrows – were reuniting for a live-streamed show that summer following a 10-year hiatus and they’ve now revealed they are planning to release new music.
Sharing some professional photos of the whole band on Twitter, they posted: “Greetings from 2022, here we are in Gloucestershire working hard on Razor album 5.”
Andy previously admitted it was “incredible” to be back with the band.
He said: “It feels incredible. We’ve spent the past week or two rehearsing. Playing these songs has been an absolute joy. The emotions that were going through me when we started playing ‘America’, I forgot to play the first half of the song – it was totally nuts. It’s been amazing. It’s so powerful playing these old tunes. It’s very very special.”
And Johnny was delighted to have rebuilt his old friendships.
He said: “I’m really enjoying reconnecting with Andy and Carl, it’s like getting to know people again. I’m enjoying it because you never want to lose friends. It’s a horrible thing to think. It doesn’t really make sense. It definitely feels good to me on a personal level.
“On a creative level – amazing. We’ve been in the studio rehearsing and recording. As soon as the four of us are in the room, it just sounds amazing, straight away.”
In 2020, guitarist Björn re-joined the band and Johnny admitted at the time that he was hoping to persuade bassist Carl to make a comeback.
Razorlight’s last studio album was 2018’s ‘Olympus Sleeping’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Judas Priest have reinstated Andy Sneap as their touring guitarist.
Just days after Rob Halford and co announced the departure of the 52-year-old rocker – who co-produced the heavy metal group’s last studio effort, 2018’s ‘Firepower’ – ahead of their March tour, the ‘Breaking the Law’ hitmakers have had a change of heart.
Andy will be back, along with Glenn Tipton, who has limited his performances with the band since 2018 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and will play “whenever he’s able” to.
Priest confirmed in a fresh statement: “Hello metal maniacs… given all that has recently evolved and transpired we have decided unanimously as a band to continue our live shows unchanged with Rob, Ian [Hill, bass], Richie [Faulkner, guitar], Scott [Travis, drums], Andy and Glenn [Tipton, guitar] joining us whenever he’s able…so see you all soon as we forge ahead celebrating 50 massive heavy metal years of Judas Priest together!”
In the original statement, they said: “Big thanks to Andy for all you’ve done and continuing to be in the production team for our new album.”
Andy had admitted he found it “incredibly disappointing” to learn he would no longer be a member of the live line-up.
He wrote in a separate statement: “Rob called me last Monday and said they wanted to move on as a four-piece, which I find incredibly disappointing after this amount of time but I respect his decision as they obviously have a vision [of] how they want this to play out.
“This always was a temporary situation, and like I’ve said before, I’ll always help the band any way I can, and that applies going forward also.
“I’ve been a huge fan of the band since the early ’80s and it was mind-blowing to play onstage with the guys and quite frankly terrifying in the beginning at such short notice.”
The musician would have continued working on their new record regardless.
Andy added: “We are moving forward with the new album next month and look forward to making a killer follow-up to ‘Firepower’.”
Glenn, 74, was forced to give up long periods on the road because he’s struggling to play the more “challenging” songs, due to the symptoms of the degenerative disorder which affects the nervous system.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay-Z’s second album “haunts” him.
The ’99 Problems’ hitmaker released ‘In My Lifetime, Vol 1’ in 1997, with the record going to number three on the Billboard 200 chart in the US but he admitted he has never been a fan of the record because he knows what it “could have been” if he’d done things differently.
Jay made the admission in a rare tweet in response to fellow musician Questlove’s analysis of the album.
Questlove first quoted a tweet from a fan which read: “Hot take: “Sunshine” by Jay-Z was fine and got an unnecessarily bad rap. Actually holds up better now than it did then.(sic)”
Tagging Jay – whose real name is Shawn Carter, which inspired his Twitter handle @SC – in his posts, Questlove replied: “Our main argument is his hate for Vol 1.
He is embarrassed for trying to make a monster & not putting numbers up. But ALOT of this lp contains his best moments. Fight me

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Clarkson is contemplating re-recording her early hits because she prefers how her voice sounds now.
The ‘Breakway’ hitmaker – who shot to fame after she won the first season of ‘American Idol’ in 2002 – has said it would be “really fun” to follow in the footsteps of Taylor Swift, who is currently re-recording her early albums after Scooter Braun purchased her former record label, Big Machine Label Group, for $300 million, and with it acquired the rights to her back catalogue.
Scooter’s Ithaca Holdings then sold the catalogue to Shamrock Holdings, without offering the 32-year-old Grammy-winner the chance to buy her masters.
The 39-year-old singer has no reason to re-record her hits, other than she feels she has a “different voice” compared to when she was a teenager, and she’d love to hear how the songs would turn out.
Kelly is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying: “I would. It’s because I feel my voice is stronger than it was when I was 19.
“I feel like my range is bigger and it is a different voice.
“It would be interesting to record the songs that I love and even some of the hits that I actually can’t listen to because sometimes the producer keeps you there for so long because they want it exact.
“At this stage of my life it would be really fun to do.”
After Taylor released the re-recorded version of her acclaimed 2012 album ‘Red’ last year, the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker admitted it wouldn’t have been possible if her Swifties hadn’t “emboldened” her to “reclaim” her art.
She wrote on social media at the time: “Just a friendly reminder that I would never have thought it was possible to go back and remake my previous work, uncovering lost art and forgotten gems along the way, if you hadn’t emboldened me.
“Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours. Tonight we begin again. Red (my version) is out now. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey is to preview a new song called ‘watercolor eyes’ on next week’s ‘Euphoria’.
Fans of the ‘West Coast’ singer have been speculating that Lana has recorded a track for an episode of the hit HBO teen drama.
And now, a trailer for season two, episode three has provided a snippet of the song in question.
The next episode airs from 9pm on January 23.
Lana, 36, follows in the footsteps of Labrinth in having original material featured on the show, which stars Zendaya as the troubled teenager Rue Bennett.
Zendaya herself added her vocals to a version of Labrinth’s ‘All For Us’ for the first series.
Labrinth, 33, was made lead composer on the first season by showrunner Sam Levinson after he offered him the job while he was working on his 2019 album, ‘Imagination & the Misfit Kid’.
Meanwhile, Lana recently admitted music is something she gets to do “in-between” her “poetry and “lovemaking”.
Speaking as she was honoured with the Artist Of The Decade prize at Variety’s Hitmakers awards show in November, she said: “I’ve been very lucky to follow my muse for the last 18 years, since I was 18.
“Sometimes that has taken me super far away from music into other mediums and other job opportunities that have nothing to do with the arts at all.
“I’m very flexible and what I’ve come to understand is that if you follow what you’re interested in, you’ll end up being the most creative in that field.
“Even if you get a 9-5 after you got the decade award, you need to do what feels right.
“I always like to say that the way I live my life is my poetry, my lovemaking is my legacy, and I get to make music in between.”
Lana released two studio albums – ‘Chemtrails over the Country Club’ and ‘Blue Banisters’- in 2021.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Rasmus have released their ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ entry bid, ‘Jezebel’.
After it was announced that the ‘In the Shadows’ rockers had entered Finland’s annual Eurovision selection contest, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (The New Music Competition), the group have released the heavy groove-laden track, which is one of seven entries.
Lauri Ylonen and co teamed up with songwriter and producer, Desmond Child – whose credits include Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and Alice Cooper – to co-write and produce the song.
Desmond also produced their seventh studio album ‘Black Roses’.
Lauri, 42, said: “It was awesome to work with Desmond again. He really knows how to put a hit song together. Jezebel is about a girl who takes what she wants, without asking. A free spirit.”
Desmond added in a press release: “Lauri gives me a call and says ‘Hey, I need to write the biggest, greatest song in the entire world, ever. Will you do it [with me]?’ and I said ‘Yeah but I am in Folegandros (Greece)’ and he says, ‘I’ll be right there’.
Jezebel is an homage, a tribute, to the strong women of today, who own their bodies, who are in charge of their sensuality, their sexuality, and who are determined to be an equal.”
The UMK winner and Finland’s next ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ participant will be chosen at the UMK22 event in Turku Logomo on February 26, 2022.
It will mark the Helsinki group’s first performance without founding guitarist Pauli Rantasalmi, who they recently confirmed has been replaced by Emilia ‘Emppu’ Suhonen.
The winner will be chosen by TV viewers and the International UMK Jury. Those outside of Finland can watch the show at www.areena.yle.fi/tv.
‘Eurovision’ 2022 is set for Turin after Italy’s Maneskin won last year, with the final scheduled to take place on May 14.
Meanwhile, fans can catch The Rasmus on their world tour in autumn, which kicks off in Hamburg, Germany on October 10.
The extensive run concludes in St Petersburg, Russia on November 12.
