OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran is planning a heavy metal project with Bring Me The Horizon.
The ‘Bad Habits’ singer teamed up with the ‘Drown’ rockers on a heavy version of his hit single at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday (08.02.22) and he has revealed there’s more to come.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “We’re going to write a song together… Playing with Bring Me The Horizon was a dream.
“I got in touch with [singer Oli Sykes] and we were going to write together but then the pandemic happened, so we were in touch – I’ve been a fan for a long time.
“Oddly enough that’s the kind of music I grew up listening to and had a Kerrang subscription and I listened to it constantly.”
The 30-year-old star joked his song would sound like a “wet fart” if he played it live as a solo track, and Bring Me The Horizon convinced him that their version would work well.
He quipped: “I actually said ‘Bad Habits’ would be a bit of a wet fart if I was just going up there and playing it normally.
“The song is EDM and they’ve taken it and make it a whole new thing. I was just like, you know what, these guitars are going to be great.
“It was a week’s turnaround – we emailed each other two weeks ago, recorded it a week ago and rehearsed it three days ago.”
Ed has been open to the idea of taking on a heavier style one day, after growing up listening to the likes of Cradle of Filth and Slipknot.
Last year, Dani Filth revealed he’s been in touch with Ed after a social media exchange, and would love for them to record a song together for charity.
He said: “I’ve actually been emailing with him. He actually touched base with me. I’ve been invited up to his place.
“Well, he said he could come down to mine, but I pointed out to him that I don’t own my own bar or village, and it’d be better if I went there.
“He said he’d do anything. Quite literally. He said he’s a massive fan. He seems like a genuinely very nice guy actually.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne-Marie, Stereophonics and The Human League are headlining Big Feastival 2022.
Blur legend Alex James is welcoming a host of huge acts to his Cotswolds farm over the August Bank Holiday weekend, including the likes of Sugababes, Basement Jaxx and Jake Bugg.
Alex said in a statement: “We’ve been busy building on last summer’s sold out festival and our strongest line up yet will bookend what promises to be an unforgettable summer of celebration.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg – best to book camping now to avoid disappointment. Roll on August Bank Holiday Weekend.”
Taking place from August 26 to 28, the Friday night will see ‘Don’t You Want Me’ stars The Human Leage at the top of the bill.
‘Don’t Play’ hitmaker Anne-Marie will close the Saturday, while ‘Dakota’ rockers Stereophonics while end the weekend on a high as they headline the Sunday.
They’ll also be joined by R&B legend Gabrielle, with rising stars Lola Young and Sam Ryder announced alongside The Futureheads, The Sherlocks, The Lottery Winners and Alfie Templeman.
Meanwhile, ‘Parklife’ hitmaker Alex previously insisted he doesn’t miss being in the band any more than he yearns for other moments from his past.
Speaking before last year’s festival, he said: “It’s just missing being young. I miss being nine years old, waiting for Father Christmas. I miss being 11, riding my bike down a hill.
“And being in a band does give you a second act problem. How old were Led Zeppelin when they wrote ‘Stairway To Heaven’?
“Now, if I can bring music to the farm once a year and get on stage with Nile Rodgers, I’ll be happy.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mick Fleetwood felt like the “Grim Reaper” when he told Stevie Nicks ‘Silver Springs’ wouldn’t be on ‘Rumours’.
The 74-year-old Fleetwood Mac drummer joked his bandmate has made him “suffer inordinately” ever since the track – which she wrote about her split from Lindsay Buckingham – was snubbed from the classic LP and instead became the B-side for ‘Go Your Own Way’.
Mick told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “I ended up in a car park having to tell young Stevie that… a great song – and truly, truly, truly, truly, we were so intent on [including it]… at that point when you master an album, getting it to sound, and we simply couldn’t, unless we sacrificed the level of the dynamic of the album, when you put the needle down.
“And we just felt something had to go, and then that was the song… But that song became legendary, but no doubt was really supposed to be part of this album.
“And it was a forever… Like I was the Grim Reaper in the car park, that had to break the news, and Stevie’s made me suffer inordinately ever since.”
Meanwhile, Mick also reflected on how having a co-ed lineup – which at the time of ‘Rumours’ also featured Christine and John McVie – helped the group.
He explained: “Believe me, it was crazy and that’s no news to anyone out there, public knowledge, but somehow there was some decorum about who and what we did as people.
“And it was always emotionally driven, which had it been quite literally a bunch of lads in a band, I think it would’ve been… Certainly, again, you’ll probably hear it about 3,000 times, speaking for myself, I think having the ladies in the band, as it should, it reined us in on some damn level.
“And we, I think, benefited from that, certainly, as a band.”

OHMYGOSSIP — London Grammar explore “a lot of deep, philosophical questions” on their next album.
The ‘Strong’ hitmakers – made up of Hannah Reid, Dominic ‘Dot’ Major and Dan Rothman – are currently working on the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Californian Soul’, but they would find it difficult to define the lyrics on the new material.
Hannah told NME: “I just wouldn’t even know where to begin. A lot of deep, philosophical questions about life, relationships and love.”
While Dan described their next record – which will be their fourth as a band – as “a living organism”, his bandmate thinks it’s their “best” to date.
She added: “I think the fourth album is actually the best one yet. We’re lucky in the sense that between the three of us the sound just kind of evolves.
“It’s not something we think about too much. We’re just playing new music together and it has grown.”
She also reflected on the success of ‘Californian Soul’, which topped the UK charts, and suggested its popularity is down to the “emotion”.
She said: “I think that all three of us just explored the sound into different directions. I hope it’s just the emotion. I hope that’s always the priority. That’s what our fans seem to connect with.”
The LP was the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Truth Is A Beautiful Thing’, which they had to sit on for a long time in part due to the pandemic.
Hannah previously said: “It was [frustrating], but it did feel like a very small problem to have in comparison to what, obviously, lots of my friends and family were going through and what everyone else was going through.
“So we were more than happy to wait. But it’s been a bit strange putting it out now – it feels like we’re releasing an old debut record because it’s just so old!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Fender feels like Sir Elton John’s “surrogate” son.
The ‘Seventeen Going Under’ hitmaker has formed a close bond with the ‘Rocket Man’ legend and his husband David Furnish, and he admitted the couple have “pulled [him] out of the mire” in the past.
He told the Metro newspaper’s Guilty Pleasures column: “They’re two people who were very, very supportive to me and have pulled me out of the mire a couple of times.
“Elton became a fan early on, before we really took off, then I went for dinner with them.
“They invited me over and I had a lush chat. They’ve, kind of, become like surrogate parents, honestly.”
The 27-year-old singer revealed both Elton and his partner have been “incredible mentors” for him.
He added: “They have been the most fantastic role models and incredible mentors, both of them. David as well, not just Elton. I’m eternally grateful for that guidance and love and support.”
Meanwhile, he described their sons Zachary, 11, and Elijah, nine, as “little brothers”.
He said: “I’ve stayed with them a few times and they’re brilliant.”
Sam previously promised he would “definitely” collaborate with Elton in the future.
The ‘Play God’ rocker’s packed schedule in 2021 meant he had to reject an offer to team up with the iconic musician on his ‘Lockdown Sessions’ album.
He explained: “It sounds awful to say, ‘I was too busy to work with Elton’, but I needed to finish my album.
“Me and Elton will definitely happen at some point. We just need to find time to get into the studio.
“We want to make something special together. I’d love us to make something stripped back, that sounds organic with a band.”
The musician might have some more time on his hands as he admitted such an intense workload means he’s already got material written for his third album.
He said: “That album was a tough labour. I wrote about 60 songs for it. Some of those songs will carry over to my next record, as I didn’t finish all of them.
“I know that I’ll look back at some of them and think, ‘That’s great! Why didn’t that make ‘Seventeen?”
“A hell of a lot of work went into that album but, about halfway through recording, we kept having moments of looking at each other and just giggling.
“That’s when I thought, ‘We’ve done something good here.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift have released their eagerly-awaited duet, ‘The Joker And The Queen’.
The pop star pals have recorded a remix of Ed’s track from his latest album, ‘=’, for what marks their fourth collaboration.
Ed always knew he wanted the ‘Lover’ hitmaker – who he previously teamed up with on 2012’s ‘Everything Has Changed’, 2017’s ‘End Game’, and 2021’s ‘Run’ (Taylor’s Version)’ – to guest on the song.
‘The Joker And The Queen’ was a family affair, as the flame-haired singer’s brother, Matthew, provided the lush string arrangements.
As for the promo, Ed, 30, and Taylor, 32, have reunited with the same cast from ‘Everything Has Changed’ a decade later, to tell the coming-of-age tale of teenagers, Ava and Jack, who head off to university.
The pair’s latest collaboration comes after Ed teased an upcoming project with Bring Me The Horizon.
The ‘Shivers’ singer and the heavy rock group stole the show with their screamo rendition of ‘Bad Habits’ at the BRIT Awards earlier this week.
And Ed has teased that he and the Oli Sykes-fronted band have a heavy metal song on the horizon.

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has revealed Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig features on his upcoming tune, ‘Moscow Rules’.
The former Oasis frontman has let slip that the US indie star – who played Rock en Seine festival on the same night the Britpop legends met their demise at the Paris festival in 2009, following a backstage bust-up between Liam and his estranged brother and former bandmate Noel – is among the musicians who contributed to his upcoming third solo album, ‘C’mon You Know’.
Speaking on Jasper Leijdens”KINK IN TOUCH’ podcast, Liam spilled: “Ezra plays some mad instruments on a song called ‘Moscow Rules’.”
The recently released lead single, ‘Everything’s Electric’, was co-written by Dave Grohl, who the ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker had hoped to work with on his 2019 LP ‘Why Me? Why Not.’
He said of the Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer: “We were meant to do something on ‘Why Me? Why Not.’ but it just didn’t happen. We’ve done gigs with them and we’ve hung out quite a bit.
“I think we got a good tune out of it.”
Dave, 53, also plays drums on the track.
The 49-year-old rocker admitted that the album has a lot of “mad” tunes for him.
‘C’mon You Know’ is set to be released on May 27, 2022, and follows his first solo record, 2017’s ‘As You Were’, and ‘Why Me? Why Not.’
Liam is set for a huge 2022 as he will be performing at Knebworth on June 3 and June 4.
Oasis famously played to a record 250,000 fans at Knebworth across two days in August 1996. The mammoth shows were remembered in the documentary, ‘Oasis Knebworth 1996’, in honour of the 25th anniversary.
The ‘River’ singer is also headlining the Etihad Stadium – the home of Manchester City – on June 1, while he’s just added a huge show at Dublin’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham on August 27.

OHMYGOSSIP — Glastonbury bosses intend to expand the stage for Diana Ross’ legend slot.
The 77-year-old star is set to take to the Pyramid Stage for the coveted legend slot at the music festival and bosses are reportedly thinking about making the stage bigger for the first time ever due to the expected popularity.
Organiser Emily Eavis told The Sun newspaper: “I can’t think of anyone who won’t go and see Diana Ross. We’ve been waiting a long time for this!”
The ‘Chain Reaction’ hitmaker was first announced to be performing at Glastonbury over two years ago but the festival has been delayed twice due to COVID-19.
Organiser Emily said at the time of her re-booking: “We were so excited to book such a legend for Glastonbury 2020 and are so happy that she’s the first to re-confirm for next year.”
The Worthy Farm festival is set to take place in June this year and the former Supremes singer will take to the stage in the Sunday teatime slot.
In a statement, organisers said: “We’re thrilled to confirm that Diana Ross is returning to the UK to give her much-anticipated performance in the legendary Sunday teatime slot on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2022, on Sunday June 26th. With an extraordinary career in the spotlight that spans over five decades, the pop-culture icon will bring her timeless music, sparkle and glamour to Worthy Farm.”
So far, the only other act confirmed to be appearing at the iconic event is ‘bad guy’ hitmaker Billie Eilish.
The 20-year-old popstar was named Best International Artist at the BRIT Awards 2022 with Mastercard sent in a video message where she claimed she “can’t wait” to take to the stage at Glastonbury later this year.
She said: “Thank you so much. I feel so lucky to be awarded this again, I don’t feel deserving. I love you guys. I love my fans in the UK so much and I can’t wait to come see you at Glastonbury!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Avril Lavigne “still feels young” after 20 years in the music industry.
The 37-year-old star – who shot to fame as a teenager with hits such as ‘Complicated’ and ‘Sk8er Boi’ -claimed that while it has been two decades since she started out , she doesn’t feel any different to when she first started out and wants to make music her “whole life.”
She said: “I don’t feel older, I feel the same the whole time I’ve been doing this. The crazy thing is I’ve been around for 20 years and I still feel young — the music keeps me that way. And I just want to make music my whole life.”
The ‘When You’re Gone’ hitmaker – who these days has teamed up with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker to produce her latest album ‘Love Sux’ – then went on to explain that she had a “strict” but “stable” upbringing and “partied [her] a** off” as soon as she could in the early days of her career.
She told The Sun: “I was only 16 when I made my first record, and I left home and was living in hotels. Then I was 17 when I had success. It’s wild, as I’m just this girl from a little town in Canada and I feel so lucky to have such special songs that have lasted..
“I had a very stable upbringing and grew up in a Christian home and there were a lot of rules, as my parents were really strict.
“So the minute I left, I ate pizza every day, stayed up all night and partied my a** off. I wasn’t out of control or into drugs and I had a good work ethic and was well disciplined and did everything I needed to do — that balance was there.”

OHMYGOSSIP — James Morrison never used to do anything “good” for his voice.
The 37-year-old singer admitted that he had no idea how to look after his vocal health in the early days of his career, adding that he “didn’t even drink water.”
He said: “I never used to do anything that was good for my voice at all. I didn’t even drink water! I was so naïve and learned how to sing in pubs, so smoking, drinking, loud talking and all that stuff was natural to me.”
The ”You Give Me Something’ hitmaker then went on to explain that he had to learn how to strike a “balance” between partying and a healthy lifestyle, noting that to do so is “really important.”
Speaking to The Daily Star newspaper, he added: “It took me a long time to learn the balance between how and when to turn off the party. All that stuff is really important. I always used to see super healthy people and I’d think that could never be me.”
James – who has so far released five studio albums and has released a Greatest Hits compilation – then went on to explain that his beliefs stemmed from his upbringing on a council estate, claiming that it took him a “long time” to realise his potential.
He added: “I grew up on a council estate and we had a poor upbringing. But now I know that you can be whatever you want. So yeah, I just suppose it took me a long time to try and see what my potential is.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joss Stone often sees a full Moon in ‘life-changing’ moments.
The 34-year-old pop star revealed that whenever something “life-changing” or “difficult” happens to her, she will look up to the sky and see a full Moon which can lead to good things.
She said: “It has come up in my life so many times. In difficult moments or anything life-changing that happens to me, I’ll look up and see a full Moon. Oftentimes, it can be really good.”
The ‘You Had Me’ hitmaker – who has 12-month-old daughter Violet with partner Cody DaLuz – then went on to explain that a full Moon had appeared at both good and bad times in her life, claiming that it makes her “nervous” whenever she sees one because of the uncertainty of what is to come.
She told the Metro newspaper’s Guilty Pleasures column: “The day I had Violet it was a full Moon and it was also the luckiest day of the year. Sometimes when I’m driving along or walking, I look, and if it’s there, I get nervous. I don’t know if it’s going to be good, bad or nothing.”
Joss also claimed that she has expectations in life others have deemed unrealistic but insisted that after meeting her partner by chance in an American airport that it is possible to have a “fairy tale” life.
She said: “I have a fairy-tale complex that I am quite proud of and also feel like I get s*** about. People say, ‘That’s not good Joss, it’s not living in reality, no-one will ever be able to live up to it’. That’s not true. You can have a fairy tale, and Cody does live up to it. When we were checking in, he said in his really strong American accent, with his crew cut and handsome gorgeousness, “After you, ma’am.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ian McDonald has died at the age of 75.
The musician – who was best known as the founder of progressive rock band King Crimson – lost a battle with cancer on Wednesday (09.11.2022), his son Max confirmed in a statement.
In a post on Facebook, Max wrote: “I’m deeply saddened to tell you that my father passed away yesterday from cancer. He was incredibly brave, and never lost his kindness or his sense of humour even when the going was rough.”
Max went on to pay tribute to his dad, calling him a “brilliant and intuitive musician”, noting that he will “live on forever” through his music.
He continued: “My father was a brilliant, intuitive musician, a gentle soul, and a wonderful dad. He will live on forever through his beautiful music and the love of his fans. Thank you all.”
During his career, Ian – who was predominantly a saxophonist but could also play keyboards, flute, vibraphone and guitar and also wrote songs – started out with the ‘Starless’ rockers in 1968 before going on to further success with multi-million selling group Foreigner in the late 1970s.
Ian’s former Foreigner bandmate Al Greenwood was quick to pay tribute to his co-star , noting that Ian was “like a brother to [him]” and will be “missed terribly”.
He said: “My bandmate and close friend Ian McDonald passed away peacefully yesterday. He was like a brother to me. A true musical genius, Ian’s musicianship was an integral part of launching both King Crimson and Foreigner into legendary status. His contribution to Foreigner’s success was immense. Ian was a dear friend, a kind and wonderful man, and I will miss him terribly.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Diplo is to release his first “proper” album in 18 years.
The 43-year-old DJ did release an album back using his real name of Thomas Wesley in 2020, but ‘Diplo’ is to be the first record using his famous stage name since 2004’s ‘Florida.’
Jasper Goggins, Mad Decent label head and Diplo’s collaborator said in a statement: “This is the first proper Diplo album since ‘Florida’; a fantastic and cohesive self-titled work that will stand as a career-defining moment.
The features and collaborations may look like contemporary industry algorithmic engineering, but this album is actually purpose built for Diplo’s favourite places to play in the world; a testament to his almost absurd and undying love of DJing live in front of people.”
The self-titled album includes the Grammy-nominated ‘On My Mind’, on which he collaborated with dance group SIDEPIECE as well as hits ‘Looking For Me’ and ‘Promises’ with Paul Woolford and Kareen Lomax.
The ten-time Grammy nominee – who over the course of his career has worked with a string of music icons such as Britney Spears, Madonna and Beyoncé – will also be returning to his roots as he returns to London’s Fabric nightclub as he takes is album on tour for a set of “special” shows.
A press statement read: “Diplo will play a handful of very special shows in March around the album’s release, including sets in Barcelona, Paris, Copenhagen and London, where he’ll return to the legendary Fabric, the first club to book him there in the early 2000s.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Fender is “proud” to have racked up a record-breaking bar bill while recording his latest album.
The 27-year-old singer recorded ‘Seventeen Going Under’ in Ireland and he and his band made good use of the alcohol on site at the studio, much to the shock of his record label, Polydor.
He is quoted by The Sun on Sunday newspaper as saying: “The studio had an unlimited Guinness tap.
“I was proud of the boys as apparently we racked up the biggest bar tab the record label has ever had to pay in the last 15 years. It was Guinness and whiskey for two months.
“But it was great, it was stunning landscape in Ireland so we spent a load of time there.”
Sam recently explained how his therapy sessions inspired the songs on the album.
He said: “I did a bit of therapy or counselling or whatever you wanna call it for two years, and that’s when I started writing the song ‘Seventeen Going Under’. That was the driving force for the rest of the songs that went on the album. Most of it is about my life and my upbringing.”
The ‘Spit of You’ hitmaker then went on to explain that the rest of the album – which follows his chart-topping debut ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ – was inspired by his early life and upbringing.
He added: “Most of it is about my life and my upbringing. This was stuff that I couldn’t have articulated when I was actually 17 years old.”
And Sam is proud of how the record has “connected” with people.
He said: “[My mental health] has not got any better – that’s the sad reality! But it’s been an honour to see how that’s connected. I wasn’t aware of that. I was just doing this album for my own catharsis, you know?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Status Quo are baffled by the enduring popularity of ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’.
The band covered John Fogerty’s track in 1977 and though artists including Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay and Bon Jovi have offered their take on the song over the years, the rockers’ version is viewed as the definitive one and remains one of their most popular anthems across the world.
Singer and guitarist Francis Rossi said: “I don’t know why ours has become this classic ‘raaaawk’ song. We played Sweden Rock festival and all these people dressed head to toe in black were in front of the stage going, ‘This is great!’ I’m looking at them going, ‘What the f*** are you thinking?’…
“F**k me, even my dental hygienist sent me something the other day to say they were all singing it at some wedding reception.”
Late guitarist Rick Parfitt has originally brought the track to their bandmates, who were sceptical.
Francis recalled: “It sounded a bid piddly, to be honest.
“But me and Rick used to joke that we could Quo-up anything with a guitar on it. So that’s what we did…
“Our old fans hated it. We had so much mail going, ‘What the f*** is this?’ But that song brought it loads more new fans.”
And Francis has particularly fond memories of kicking of Live Aid in 1985 with the song.
He told Classic Rock magazine: “Nobody wanted to go on first, so we went, ‘F*** it, we’ll do it – get the f*** on, get the f*** off.’
“But when we started playing that song, there was a total sense of euphoria. Everything slotted in. The sense of love from the audience was something else.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nikki Sixx has branded Pearl Jam “one of the most boring bands in history”.
The Motley Crue bassist was unimpressed when Eddie Vedder slammed the 1980s hair metal scene, calling the movement “vacuous” and singling out the ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ hitmakers in particular, but insisted he was going to take the ‘Jeremy’ singer’s words as “kind of a compliment”.
In an interview with the New York Times, Eddie had recalled his old job at a club in San Diego, where he helped to load bands’ gear and said: “I’d end up being at shows that I wouldn’t have chosen to go to – bands that monopolised late-‘80s MTV.
“The metal bands that – I’m trying to be nice – I despised. ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ and Mötley Crüe: [expletive] you. I hated it. I hated how it made the fellas look. I hated how it made the women look. It felt so vacuous.”
Nikki hit back on Twitter on Saturday (05.02.22).
He wrote: “Made me laugh today reading how much the singer in Pearl Jam hated @MotleyCrue. Now considering that they’re one of the most boring bands in history it’s kind of a compliment isn’t it? (sic)”
And in response to a fan who wrote that they “can’t stand” Pearl Jam, Nikki replied: “They can’t stand Pearl Jam. Little inside scoop?”
The 63-year-old musician insisted he wouldn’t let anyone get away with “dissing” his band.
