OHMYGOSSIP — Nikki Sixx has branded Pearl Jam “one of the most boring bands in history”.
The Motley Crue bassist was unimpressed when Eddie Vedder slammed the 1980s hair metal scene, calling the movement “vacuous” and singling out the ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ hitmakers in particular, but insisted he was going to take the ‘Jeremy’ singer’s words as “kind of a compliment”.
In an interview with the New York Times, Eddie had recalled his old job at a club in San Diego, where he helped to load bands’ gear and said: “I’d end up being at shows that I wouldn’t have chosen to go to – bands that monopolised late-‘80s MTV.
“The metal bands that – I’m trying to be nice – I despised. ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ and Mötley Crüe: [expletive] you. I hated it. I hated how it made the fellas look. I hated how it made the women look. It felt so vacuous.”
Nikki hit back on Twitter on Saturday (05.02.22).
He wrote: “Made me laugh today reading how much the singer in Pearl Jam hated @MotleyCrue. Now considering that they’re one of the most boring bands in history it’s kind of a compliment isn’t it? (sic)”
And in response to a fan who wrote that they “can’t stand” Pearl Jam, Nikki replied: “They can’t stand Pearl Jam. Little inside scoop?”
The 63-year-old musician insisted he wouldn’t let anyone get away with “dissing” his band.
He tweeted: “Your not allowed to diss my band and our 40 year history and not get a little smack back. All good. More focused on us playing stadiums right now. Moving on.”
And he slammed a commenter who branded him a “loser” for his response to Eddie.
He wrote: “You’ll be fine. Remember there were zillions of brown haired bands for brown haired fans…..Go find them. You will know them by the bored look on their face.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Corrine Bailey Rae loves taking her kids on tour.
The 42-year-old singer is thrilled her career allows her to be a “present” parent for her daughters – who are aged four and two – and even when she’s got gigs to play, there’s still enough time in the day for them to have quality time together.
She said: “I end up getting to see them more than if I worked at a bank or school.
“It feels like I’m getting to have both things; things I thought weren’t possible – having a career that I really enjoy and getting to be a parent and present with my kids.
“I can be with the children most of the day. They can come to the sound check if they want, or they might find fun stuff to do at a park.
“Then they’ll come to the shows in the evening – they’ll either be in their pyjamas, or asleep on my mum.
“Sometimes they want to watch the show, sometimes they don’t, but they love running around the venue.
“As always with touring, you’ll get a few days of down time between shows, so you might have five days on a beach or going to museums and parks. It’s an adventure.”
The ‘Put Your Records On’ hitmaker and her husband, jazz musician Steve Brown, have passed their love of music onto their children.
She said: “They do really love music. We do a lot of singing. It’s a great way for kids to learn.
“Even when you’re half asleep you can always sing to them. It’s like telling them a story you’ve learnt off by heart.
“Whether it’s Christmas songs, nursery rhymes, music from adverts and musicals, things you’ve made up to make them wash their teeth – I find myself singing anything.”
Steve is also Corinne’s musical director and she loves their working relationship.
She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “Steve and I always worked together before we were in a relationship, so I know his style of working really well.
“It’s really great to play with him while we’re on tour and hear where he wants to take the show one night to the other.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has released ‘Everything’s Electric’, co-written by Dave Grohl.
The former Oasis frontman is back with his first new solo release since the standalone track ‘All You’re Dreaming Of’ in December 2020, the lead single from his eagerly-awaited third solo album, ‘C’mon You Know’.
The ‘Bold’ rocker recruited the Foo Fighters frontman, 53, to help pen the rock’n’roll tune, and it’s produced by studio wizard Greg Kurstin, who not only worked on Liam’s previous two solo records – 2017’s ‘As You Were’ and 2019’s ‘Why Me? Why Not.’ – but had his hand in Grohl and co’s 2021 LP ‘Medicine at Midnight’ and 2017’s ‘Concrete and Gold’.
A press release states that the song takes influence from Beastie Boys’ 1994 hit ‘Sabotage’ and the Rolling Stones’ 1969 classic ‘Gimme Shelter’, both known for their unmistakable guitar riffs.
The 49-year-old singer is set to give ‘Everything’s Electric’ its live debut at next Tuesday’s (08.02.22) BRIT Awards 2022 with Mastercard at The O2 arena in London.
Liam announced in November 2021 that he had finished recording his third album.
The ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker took to Twitter to share the news that his upcoming record had been sent to Mark ‘Spike’ Stent to be mixed.
Lifelong Manchester City Football Club fan Liam wrote: “My 3rd record is finished off to be mixed by the mighty SPIKE who is a Man Utd fan so god knows what it’ll come back like only kidding he’s very professional unlike his football team C’mon you know LG x.”
‘C’mon You Know’ is set to be released on May 27, 2022.
Liam is set for a huge 2022 as he will be performing at Knebworth on June 3 and June 4.
Oasis famously played to a record 250,000 fans at Knebworth across two days in August 1996. The mammoth shows were remembered in the documentary, ‘Oasis Knebworth 1996’, in honour of the 25th anniversary.
The ‘For What It’s Worth’ singer is also headlining the Etihad Stadium – the home of Manchester City – on June 1, and has also added a concert at Glasgow’s famous Hampden Park on 26 June, among other festival dates.

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has ditched dairy from his diet to protect his voice.
The former Oasis rocker has admitted while he never used to do anything special to take care of his voice, as he’s got older he’s started to change his routine to look after himself, and now he won’t drink milk if he knows he’s got to sing that day.
Appearing on Friday’s edition (04.02.22) of ‘The Chris Moyles Show’ on Radio X, he said: “I know it doesn’t sound very rock ‘n’ roll, but you get older – I’m 50 this year.
“When I’m singing, there’s no smoking and I don’t drink dairy on the day. I just have Jasmine tea, that’s good for the throat. And then obviously when that’s done, I go back to how I am.”
The ‘Wonderwall’ singer – who celebrates the milestone birthday in September – admitted he didn’t take notice of advice from older musicians when he was younger, and he has some unique advice for wannabe rock stars following in his footsteps.
He quipped: “To all them young 20-year-old rock stars, just ignore what I’m saying. Then, when you get to 50, if you’ve still got a career going, you’ll be doing your bits and bobs.”
Liam – who released new single ‘Everything’s Electric’ on Friday (04.02.22) – has revealed his upcoming new solo album ‘C’mon You Know’ will also feature a cover of a John Lennon classic.
He said: “There’s a cover on this album that we’ve got coming out called Bless You by John Lennon, it’s well good. I might do that [at Knebworth]. It’s very sexy, very Marvin Gaye-ish, you know what I mean? Very soft and that. That’s what happened when you don’t drink dairy or smoke. I’m Marvin Gaye!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora has signed a huge deal with BMG which gives her control of her masters.
The ‘Hot Right Now’ hitmaker has announced details of a new partnership with the record label and publisher which will see her get ownership of her future recordings.
Announcing the deal on Instagram, she said: “I’m THRILLED to announce that I am partnering with BMG!!!
“I couldn’t be happier that they will be my label family moving forward.
“Their approach to artist ownership and control is very much aligned with mine, and it’s so empowering to know that I will own all of my master recordings that I make from now on.
“I also feel so motivated to be working with such a dynamic, creative, forward-thinking global company. (sic)”
Meanwhile, BMG is “excited to get cracking” as they add the 31-year-old star to a stacked roster including the likes of Kylie Minogue, KSI and Run The Jewels.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bastille frontman Dan Smith admits the pandemic changed plans for a sci-fi album.
The ‘Pompeii’ hitmakers – whose new LP ‘Give Me The Future’ was released on Friday (04.02.22) – started working on the record as a piece of fiction, but they realised “the reality of now is stranger” than a lot of classic science fiction.
Dan told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “We set out to make a sci-fi album and in doing so, ended up making an album about now.
“Pre-pandemic we wrote a huge amount of songs about dreams and how we live online, but then we ditched all the future-leaning stuff because, to use a cliche, the reality of now is stranger than any sci-fi of the past in a lot of ways.
“Lyrically, that allowed us to go deep on the bizarreness of our reality at the moment.”
To develop the idea, the band – completed by Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson and Chris ‘Woody’ Wood – delved into “old sci-fi” to see how previous ideas about the future match up to the real deal.
Dan added: “We revisited old sci-fi to check out retro versions of the future, some of which we have surpassed, some of which we avoided and some we have sadly seen come true recently.”
Although they scrapped the sci-fi lyrics, focusing on the heavier subject matter of the pandemic meant the group focused on “escapism” through the music itself.
Dan explained: “It’s about escapism and we wanted it to be fun.
“Some of the topics are quite heavy but the sci-fi aspect allowed us to have fun with analogue synths, melodies and push things sonically further than I would have been comfortable with before.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher thinks the BRIT Awards needs someone like him in the lineup.
The former Oasis frontman will be playing at the prestigious ceremony at London’s O2 Arena on February 8 – alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran and Adele – and he’s happy to be on the bill “representing” rock music.
Appearing on Friday’s edition (04.02.22) of ‘The Chris Moyles Show’ on Radio X, he said: “I think I still do the job, man.
“I think the BRIT Awards needs a bit of me, and I think there’s people out there that like this kind of music… I’ll be there, representing.”
Liam is releasing his new record ‘C’mon You Know’ in May, and he admitted the majority of the LP is “a bit peculiar”.
He explained: “Some of it’s odd, man. I’d say 80% of the record’s a bit peculiar, but still good.
“And 20% of it’s kind of classic like this. But we’ve gone a bit… we’re going a bit odd with it, which is good. You know what I mean? I still sound normal and mega and all that.
“But you know, if you’re going to do something a little bit different, do it in these times, because if people don’t dig it, just blame it on COVID, innit? And then we’ll go back to the normal stuff on the next record.”
The ‘Wonderwall’ hitmaker is also finding it strange being a solo artist rather than part of a band, and he’d “love” to be part of a supergroup in the vein of the Traveling Wilburys, which featured Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.
He said: “I’d love to man, without a doubt, but everyone would have to leave their egos at the door, you know what I mean? But I’d definitely do that.
“There’s a lot of good musicians that are sort of sitting on the fence, not on the fence, sitting on the shelf at the moment and not doing a lot, you know what I mean? I.E. John Squire. He’s a great guitarist. There’s Nick McCabe.
“You know, I’m sure they’re doing things in their own way and all that but yeah, there’s lots of great musicians out there that should be doing more music.”
On Friday (04.02.22), Liam dropped new single ‘Everything’s Electric’, which was co-written with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who also plays drums on the track.

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Pritchard thinks his love for meditation has “had an impact” on The Kooks’ new music.
The ‘She Moves In Her Own Way’ hitmaker wanted to explore his inner self after getting the feeling that “something was missing”.
He told the Metro newspaper’s Guilty Pleasures column: “I got to the point in my life where I was searching to go a bit deeper, and meditation is something a lot of people suggested.
“It wasn’t necessarily that I was having particular issues, I just felt like something was missing in my life.
“Meditation is about touching the source potentially where the soul comes from.”
The Kooks – completed by Hugh Harris and Alexis Nuñez – are set to release sixth album ’10 Tracks To Echo In The Dark’ this summer, and the 36-year-old frontman thinks fans will be able to hear the “impact” of his meditation.
He added: “It’s definitely had an impact on my work. I started in a very positive head space and I hope that comes across.”
Luke described the process as something that “really works”, noting he learned from the “Maharishi school”, referring to late Indian guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi – famed for his work with The Beatles – and his process which people practice 20 minutes twice per day while sitting comfortably with their eyes closed.
The ‘Naive’ singer said: “I do transcendental meditation, the Maharishi school.
“People have been doing it for thousands of years and it really works.
“It’s an incredible world and the science is there now, which is crazy. They can show how it changes your brain patterns and brainwaves.”
His comments come after The Kooks revealed the first three tunes from ’10 Tracks To Echo In the Dark’ – ‘Connection’, ‘Jesse James’ and ‘Modern Days’ – as the EP, ‘Connection – Echo In the Dark Part 1′.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Fender didn’t set out to “tackle social issues” with his latest album.
The 27-year-old singer has been praised for the subjects he’s raised in the songs on ‘Seventeen Going Under’ but he explained he was simply reflecting on his own life in a working class household and the surrounding issues that had come up during his therapy sessions.
He said: “To be honest, with this record, it wasn’t actually a real aim to tackle social issues.
“It was just I’d done therapy for two years once I started getting famous.
“That, basically, opened up a whole can of worms with my upbringing.
“I just ended up writing about home a lot more, and writing about my life, and writing about my mother.
“The stories just have a social conscience in them, because it’s talking about very, very normal things that happen to very normal people.”
Sam hopes his music can help his fans in the way other artists have helped him over the years.
He said: “Music was therapy to me before I did therapy.
“It was the only form of catharsis that I’ve ever had.
“And if I can provide some level of catharsis for somebody else who’s listening, then that’s what I’ve achieved.”
And the ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ hitmaker is proud of the sense of “community” his live shows bring.
He told Radio Times magazine: “Some of the kids down the front at London and Newcastle, the words looked like they were theirs more than they were mine.
“There was one guy in particular I saw. He was completely electric. He was singing every single word.
“That’s why I’m doing this. Him down there. Or the small girl with blue hair who was just balling her eyes out the whole time down the front, holding on to her phone and her wallet.
“It’s like community. It’s 10,000 people together, united by something that’s positive.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Smith says The Cure are working on a new album.
The 62-year-old singer/songwriter assured fans that he and his bandmates are planning to have new music to perform once they hit the road on tour again and revealed his desire to release a new album is “overwhelming”.
He tweeted: “We will be performing songs from a new album when we next play…or we won’t be playing at all! And I really want to play…so that means…
“It means my desire to release a new album is overwhelming!”
The band are now under pressure to finish a new record as they are set to go on tour in October.
The ‘Friday I’m In Love’ band will kick off the 44-date European and UK tour in Riga, Latvia on October 6 before concluding five arena shows in Britain at London’s SSE Arena on December 11.
It was previously revealed that fans will be treated to a 135 minute show and a “67 minute” new album was also mooted, which would mark the group’s first record since 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’.
The group have confirmed that the line-up for the tour will feature bassist Simon Gallup, who said in August that he had left the band “with a slightly heavy heart” as he was “fed up of betrayal”. Two months later, however, he appeared to confirm that he had re-joined The Cure.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Weller is “glad” the Beatles split up when they did.
The 55-year-old rocker insisted the legendary group – who went their separate ways in 1970 amid in-fighting with the band – would have “tarnished” their legacy if they’d carried on much longer and doesn’t think they would be regarded as highly as they are now.
Reflecting on seeing ‘Let It Be’ in the cinema when he was 12, he said: “I was so overwhelmed, seeing The Beatles on a big screen, playing the rooftop session and all that stuff. So, for me, just getting to see them play live on that screen was mind-blowing.
“It was supposed to be depressing watching them not getting on but I didn’t notice any of that until years later.
“Personally, I’m f****** glad they split up when they did. Can you imagine The Beatles in the 80s, doing synthpop with a DX7? F****** hell.”
And of the suggestion his own Style Council could have shared a bill with them at Live Aid, he added to Uncut magazine: “And it would have been shocking! They would have tarnished their legacy and we wouldn’t be talking about them in such glowing terms all these years later.”
Meanwhile, the former Jam frontman admitted he looks back fondly on the years when he first went solo, despite his relative lack of success.
He said “I look pretty fondly on that time. It made me realise that, actually, I quite like not having any success. The world didn’t just end, you know?
“We were going to America loads of times. I hadn’t been to LA for years and years so we just flew out there and did five nights in a row.
“We had this brilliant following of gay mods who used to follow us around the West Coast on scooters. They looked f****** amazing. God bless ‘em, that was great.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Maisie Peters has been announced as Ed Sheeran’s support act on his upcoming ‘+ – = ÷ x Tour’.
The 21-year-old singer-songwriter signed to the flame-haired megastar’s Gingerbread Man Records last summer, and she is set to join her boss on his mammoth jaunt across Europe and the UK, playing every date except Munich, Zurich and Frankfurt.
She said: “It’s a dream to get to support Ed on this tour. Playing venues like these with an artist like Ed is something beyond the realm of anything I ever thought possible, and I’m so excited to be going out on tour with him this summer.”
The ‘Mathematics Tour’ kicks off at Dublin’s legendary Croke Park on April 23, includes five nights at London’s Wembley Stadium, and concludes with two consecutive shows at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium in Austria.
Maisie released her debut album ‘You Signed Up For This’ via the ‘Perfect’ hitmaker’s label in August.
What’s more, Ed co-wrote her single ‘Psycho’ with Steve Mac.
Upon inking the deal, Maisie said: “Signing to Gingerbread is a dream come true. I grew up inspired and in awe of Ed, like many other 13 year olds who heard ‘Lego House’ for the first time, so, it’s kind of amazing and hard to believe that I get to be the 21 year old who is able to call him and the whole Gingerbread team now friends, family and mentors for life.
“I’m so excited to announce ‘You Signed Up For This’, it really is my (albeit not hugely long) life’s work and my proudest achievement; it is my favourite album maybe ever and whilst I may be biased, I really hope it goes into the world and becomes lots of other people’s favourite too.
It all means the world and is my world and there is nothing I would rather do.”
Ed added: “Excited to announce that I’ve signed the wonderful Maisie Peters to Gingerbread Man Records. She’s a very special artist who continues to push her storytelling in new directions. The ‘Savage’ rapper and the ‘Easy On Me’ hitmaker have had their music mixed together in a viral TikTok trend, and now the 26-year-old star is putting it out into the world that she wants to get her on one of her songs.
Speaking to People, she said: “If Adele wants me to come get on the track, be the dancer, I’m there, I’m here for it.
“Somebody tell her to call me because I’m ready!”
Meanwhile, the ‘WAP’ hitmaker has teased that she will “manifest” performing at the Super Bowl halftime show.
The Houston-born star is determined to perform at the huge sporting event, while Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige take to the stage during this year’s game on February 13.
Asked if she could appear, she told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I don’t know what you want me to say. Like a surprise is supposed to be a surprise.
“We’re gonna manifest that Megan Thee Stallion will be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show soon, whenever they will have me.
“But we will manifest that so remember this day, hotties! We said we were gonna perform at halftime.”
Megan – who has worked on a Super Bowl commercial for Frito-Lay’s Flamin’ Hot brand – is delighted to be involved in some way, even if she doesn’t appear during the halftime show itself.
She added: “Being in a Super Bowl commercial in 2022, I feel like everybody keeps asking me, ‘OK, Megan when did you feel like you made it?’
“I mean, now I feel like maybe I am kinda famous.

OHMYGOSSIP — Leigh-Anne Pinnock has signed a solo deal with Warner Records.
The 30-year-old pop star – who shot to fame as a member of girl group Little Mix when they won ‘The X Factor’ in 2011 – has joined the record label which is also home to the likes of Dua Lipa, Saweetie and Ed Sheeran.
An announcement on the official Warner Records UK Twitter account stated: “Delighted to welcome Leigh-Anne Pinnock to the Warner Records family! Sign up to her mailing list to hear about exciting news first!”
News of Leigh-Anne’s deal comes just days after former bandmate Jesy – who quit the group in December 2020 – also teased fans that new music is on the way following the release of her debut single ‘Boyz’, which featured Nicki Minaj.
Jesy wrote on Instagram: “Just a message to say I love you all so, so much and I cannot wait to be able to show what I’ve been working on.”
Leigh-Anne’s new deal also comes just two months after Little Mix – which also consists of Jade Thirlwall, 29 and Perrie Edwards, 28 – announced they are to take a break following their forthcoming tour, but reassured fans that they were “not splitting up”.
The statement read: “We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix. OHMYGOSSIP — Little Simz is set to play Glastonbury 2022.
The 27-year-old MOBO-winning rap star – who last played Worthy Farm in 2019 on the Park Stage – will headline the world-famous music festival’s West Holts stage this summer.
Emily Eavis – who curates the lineup with her father, Michael – made the announcement on BBC Radio 1 last night (02.02.22).
She said: “Little Simz has just confirmed to headline the West Holts Stage.”

So far, Billie Eilish has been confirmed as the headliner on Friday, June 24, 2022, becoming the youngest-ever solo artist to do so.
And Diana Ross is set to play the Sunday afternoon legends slot.
She said: “I’m so excited and grateful to finally know that I’ll be seeing you at #Glastonbury while on my UK Thank U Tour celebrating my new album of songs! See you at @glastonbury on Sunday, June 26, 2022 [stars emoji] #dianarossthankyou (sic)”
Diana was originally due to make her debut at the festival in 2020, but her planned appearance was scrapped because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Taylor Swift, Sir Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar were also due to headline the Pyramid Stage that year.
The 2021 festival was also cancelled due to the pandemic, with the ‘Live at Worthy Farm’ streamed event airing in its place.
Glastonbury returns on June 22 and runs until June 26, 2022.
The full lineup is due to be unveiled in March.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kacey Musgraves, McFly and The Human League have joined the bill for Hampton Court Palace Festival 2022.
The country-pop star, ‘Obviously’ hitmakers and synth-pop legends will take to the stage as part of a star-studded line-up at the summer concert series in Surrey this June, joining George Benson, Crowded House, Elbow and Jack Savoretti.
McFly will take to the historical landmark’s intimate auditorium at the Base Court, set against the background of Henry VIII’s magnificent Tudor Palace, on June 15.
Grammy-winner Kacey is confirmed for June 22, with the ‘Don’t You Want Me’ hitmakers performing the following day.
Elbow will play the open-air extravaganza on June 11, soul and jazz legend George plays June 16, Jack on June 17, and Crowded House on June 25.
Lionel Richie was due to play two consecutive nights on June 8 and June 9.
However, the ‘Hello’ hitmaker has just cancelled all of his European and UK tour dates.
The 72-year-old music legend has been forced to pull out of his planned performances across the pond this year, due to the “impact” of COVID-19.
In a Twitter statement, he said: “As COVID and its variants continue to impact the world, I have decided to hold off on my European tour this summer.
“The most important thing to me is the health of my fans, band and crew. I hope you all understand and I hope to see you very soon when we can all gather safely.”
The ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ hitmaker was due to co-headline IOW with Lewis Capaldi on June 17.
However, a post on the festival’s page read: “Unfortunately, Lionel Richie will no longer be playing at cinch presents the Isle of Wight Festival 2022. Watch this space for more info soon. We can’t wait to see you all this summer!”
It’s not known if he will be replaced or whether the ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker will be the sole headliner that night.
The ‘Hello’ tour dates affected also include Lionel’s Eden Sessions gig at the Eden Project in Cornwall planned for June 14.
The rescheduled run was intended for 2020 but, like most tours, was delayed owing to the pandemic.
Tickets for the newly added dates of Hampton Court Palace Festival go on sale on Monday (07.02.22) at 10 am at www.hamptoncourtpalacefestival.com.
