OHMYGOSSIP — BTS have beat Taylor Swift and Adele to be crowned IFPI Global Recording Artist Of The Year for 2021.
The K-Pop septet – comprising J-Hope, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Suga, and V – have nabbed the title for the second consecutive year, having topped the list in 2020.
RM said: “We are truly honoured to receive the IFPI Global Recording Artist Of The Year award.
“We heard this is the first time ever any artist received [the] Artist Of The Year two years in a row, so we feel blessed for such a significant title.”
Taylor Swift, Adele, Drake and Ed Sheeran made the top five, with The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber and Olivia Rodrigo making the top 10.
IFPI chief executive Frances Moore commented: “BTS’ phenomenal success over the last year is a testament to their creativity, hard work and ongoing commitment to continuing to find ways to bring their music to the world.
“By performing in three different languages, they demonstrate their extraordinarily unique global appeal and their dynamic and passionate fanbase has helped to make them the first artists in history to top the Global Artist Chart in two consecutive years.”
Meanwhile, BTS have just announced a four-night Las Vegas residency.
The ‘My Universe’ hitmakers will bring their ‘Permission To Dance On Stage’ concert to Sin City’s Allegiant Stadium, which can hold nearly 65,000 people.
The shows will take place on April 8, 9, 15 and 16, while the concert will be streamed online on the last day of the tour.
There will also be a special in-person live broadcast event, ‘Live Play in Las Vegas’, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on all four dates.
It comes after the group announced three huge homecoming shows at the Seoul Olympic Stadium on March 10, 12 and 13, which mark the group’s first in-person gigs in Korea since October 2019.

OHMYGOSSIP — Tears For Fears are “so proud” of their new album ‘Tipping Point’.
The 80s pop duo – which consists of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, both 60 – think their new release – which came out on Friday (25.02.22) – is “an album of now”.
After 17 years since they released a new album, Curt told the Sun: “The Tipping Point’ is an album of now. There are some very contemplative songs, some sadder subjects, but it still leaves you with a sense of optimism.
“It’s is the ultimate Tears For Fears album and we are both so, so proud of it.”
Roland admitted that the “task” was to make a record that was “representative” of the group – who formed in 1981.
He said: “The task was how to make an album representative of us, at 60.”
Roland added: “How can we bring our life experience good and bad to the table and make something that speaks to people. Our best work, and the work that’s lasted over the years is the stuff that resonates with people.”
Roland was prompted to begin work on the album – and reunite with Curt – back in 2017 following the death of his first wife Caroline, who passed away after dealing with alcohol abuse-induced dementia for five years after 35 years of marriage.
Roland said: “There are so many areas of mental health we just don’t understand.
“If someone suddenly changes personality, if they suddenly go from extrovert to being withdrawn, it’s hard to understand.
“Caroline lost her parents when they were young and I think she never fully processed that.
The ‘Everybody Wants to Run The World’ hitmakers compared their dynamic to that of “a marriage”, with Curt remarking it was “hard” to watch him grieve, prompting work on the album to be paused in 2018.
Curt – who is married to Frances Pennington, the mother of his two daughters, Diva, 13, and Wilder, 10 – said: “It’s hard to watch anyone you’ve grown up with go through that pain but the only thing I could do was walk away from it. It wasn’t helping us being together.
“Roland and I are like a marriage and like any marriage, we tend to blame each other when things go wrong. We got to a point in 2019 on tour when we really weren’t talking to each other.”
However, later that year – without any help from a manager or any other third party – the pair reunited to get back to work.
After getting married to his second wife, Emily Rath, a photographer, Roland said: “It took me the best part of that year to get myself together again.”
He added: “I was keen to push forward. There were about five tracks we started to work on, and I needed to reconnect with Curt. It wasn’t very difficult at all.
“When we say we fall out it just means we aren’t communicating, so when we do, it’s easy.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Glady Knight misses Michael Jackson “every day”.
The ‘That’s What Friends Are For’ is believed to be one who discovered the Jackson 5 – the boyband the King of Pop was in before he went solo – and labelled herself “an older sister” to Michael, who died in 2009, aged 50.
The 77-year-old Motown hitmaker told the Mirror: “I still miss him every day. Me and Michael, we started at a very young age. I know his mum and dad and brothers and sister. He knew all of my kids, we were very tight together. I’m so sad that he’s not here anymore.
“We would do shows together and afterwards sit in the lobby and just talk about life.
The Grammy winner called him “an amazing young man” while she reminisced about spending time together with their children.
Gladys said: “I remember one day he came over to my house, because he was friends with my kids, and we were having fun. And then he asked me something and it almost made me cry.
“He said, ‘Gladys, how do you make a family?’ I said, Michael, you’ll be able to have one, it’s got to be in your spirit, you’ve got to calm yourself down. It’s who you love, that’s what it is.
“You’ve got to take that time away, and one day love will fall into your lap. I think about him every day. He was an amazing young man.
“I love his mom, she reminds me of my mom and they were good friends too.
“Both of them tried to keep us on the straight and narrow.”
As well as spilling about the ‘Bad’ hitmaker, the ‘Heard It Through the Grapevine’ singer admitted that she attributes “love” to keeping her youthful looks.
After being asked about how she keeps looking “so good”, Gladys said: “I don’t have any secrets, I just lurve.”
She added: “Love keeps you in a certain way, you know what I’m saying?” and makes sure to tell her 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren about its importance.
Glady said: “I teach them how to love, that’s how they get their spirits right. It’s love that makes the world go round.”
The Empress of Soul also has plenty of “love” for her fans as gets ramped up to tour the UK in the summer.
She said: “Oh yeah, I love them, and when I say love it’s really for real. They give love back to me too. They hug me and they say, ‘ooh yeah that feels really good’.”

OHMYGOSSIP — James Arthur is “buzzing” to be dropping a track with ‘You Me At Six’ singer Josh Franceschi.
The ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ hitmaker has returned with a new collaboration with the pop punk band front man called ‘Lose My Mind’, the music he has “been wanting to make for years”.
The 33-year-old singer said: “Lose My Mind is the kind of alt rock song I’ve been wanting to make for years. A lot of my musical influences are in that lane, and I’m also a big You Me At Six fan so I’m buzzing that Josh wanted to jump on the track – I love his voice.”
The song – which was written by James in tandem with Cass Lowe and Corey Sanders – comes after the ‘Impossible’ crooner released his fourth studio album ‘It’ll All Make Sense in the End’ that debuted in the chart in third position in November.
James admitted that he feels “very at home with the alt-rock sound” but was “worried” he missed the genre’s resurgence.
He told the OfficialChart.com: “I feel very at home with the alt-rock sound of this song. It’s nice to be able to release a song in that world, I love guitar music and I like the emo thing. When I made [2021 album] It’ll All Make Sense in the End, I was worried I’d missed the resurgence of that music, but it’s coming to the boil and I might just catch the wave. I hope everyone who likes that genre will hear the authenticity in what I’m doing.”
In March, ‘The X Factor’ winner – who has sold 30 million albums and racked up 1.9 billion streams since his career began – will venture out on a UK that will kick off at Bournemouth International Centre and in April, he will head stateside for a month, beginning at Seattle’s Neptune Theatre.

The ‘Here For You’ hitmaker teased the the lead single – a collaboration with EDM group Galantis and includes a writing credit her “best friend” MNEK – on TikTok from her upcoming as-yet-unnamed sophomore album
The 28-year-old pop star said: “I’m so excited to release ‘Run’ with Galantis. I wrote it with my best friend MNEK who I’ve been writing with for 10 years and the magic I felt when we first wrote my single ‘Losing’ back in 2012, I still feel to this day when writing with him.”
Becky gushed about how “proud” she was to be included in their body of work, along with her pop contemporaries.

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams has released a surprise dance track with Lufthaus.
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker has teamed up with his long-time producers Tim Metcalfe and Flynn Francis to record the trance track ‘Sway’ which has dropped on YouTube and streaming services.
And more music is expected from the trio.
According to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, the group said: “This project has been keeping us busy in the studio throughout the pandemic, so we’re delighted to now be releasing the first single.
“We’ve purposely kept Lufthaus unrevealed, so we’re looking forward to releasing more music and revealing more material over the coming months.”
Robbie – who shot to fame in the 90s with pop group Take That – is “constantly” creating new music and has “enough” to make several new records.
The 48-year-old pop star said: “I’m constantly writing new songs. In three days I wrote 27 songs.”
“I’ve got enough material for five or six albums.
The ‘Rudebox’ singer often sits for years before they become smash hits.
Robbie – who is married to Ayda Field, 42, with whom has four kids, Theodora, nine, Charlton, seven, Colette, three, and Beau, two – said: “Sometimes I have songs that sit on my computer for five years, like Candy, for example, I had that for three years.
“There is stuff that’s on my computer now that I wrote two years ago that probably won’t see the light of day for another two years.”
Robbie’s last studio album was 2019’s ‘The Christmas Present’, the same year he began his international tour ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’ and Las Vegas residency, which was curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Last month, the ‘Let Me Entertain You’ hitmaker labelled the pandemic as “terrifying” as he outlined his intention to go on the road again.
He said: Hopefully I’m going to go on tour at the end of this year. […] We are two Christmases into it and it’s still going strong. It’s terrifying.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Murs has cancelled his summer UK tour after undergoing knee surgery.
The 37-year-old pop star has gone under the knife and will now spend the next six months in rehab.
Olly said: “I am absolutely gutted to have to cancel my summer tour this year, but unfortunately I’ve had to have new major knee surgery.
“I’m devastated I won’t be performing these shows, and can only apologise for any inconvenience caused. Rest assured I will be fighting fit for new music later this year!”
Fans who bought tickets for the gigs will be able to claim a refund from their point of purchase.
Olly was due to begin his tour at the Botanic Gardens in Belfast on June 10 and finish at Trentham Gardens in Stoke on September 4.
The chart-topping pop star also took to social media after having knee surgery.
Olly – who shot to fame on ‘The X Factor’ in 2009 – posted a photo of himself on crutches and wearing a knee brace on his Twitter account.
He wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “I am gutted to have to write this message but unfortunately I’ve had to undergo major new knee surgery again this week. [crying emoji] been trying my best to avoid having it done but the op was needed and it went well. I’m recovering in hospital…
“but it means I’m having to cancel all my summer shows this year whilst I focus on my rehab. Refunds will all be available from your point of purchase and please keep an eye out for any emails from your ticketing agent over the next few days.

In December, the boy band took an “extended period of rest” to “recharge” after completing their ‘Permission To Dance On Stage’ and ‘Jingle Bell Tour’ commitments.
And it was also teased that the ‘My Universe’ hitmakers are preparing their next album.
A statement said: “BTS will be focusing on preparing for the concert and release of the new album that will mark the beginning of a ‘new chapter.’ They are preparing for a concert this coming March to connect and communicate with the fans in-person in Seoul.
“We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the fans who continue to cheer for BTS and they will return as their best, healthiest selves after recharging so they can return all the love from the fans. Thank you.”
The group has been hit with cases of COVID-19 over the past few months, and V was the latest member to test positive for the virus earlier this month.
Big Hit confirmed: “V completed two rounds of COVID-19 vaccinations and is not presenting any extraordinary symptoms other than a mild fever and sore throat.
“He is currently undergoing treatment at home while waiting for further guidelines from the health care authorities.
“The company places the artists’ health as our top priority and we will do everything we can to aid V in his speedy recovery.
“We will also diligently cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the healthcare authorities.”
The company noted V had been in contact with other members of BTS shortly before his positive test but it was not close contact and everyone was wearing a mask.
No other members of the group are showing any symptoms, and everyone has tested negative for the virus.
Last month, Jimin tested positive for the virus while in hospital to undergo emergency surgery after falling ill with appendicitis.
In December, RM, Jin, and Suga all tested positive for COVID-19, but they had mild symptoms.

The ‘I’ll Never Break Your Heart’ hitmakers will kick off their ‘DNA World Tour 2022’ with four shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in April and because Nick Carter is currently working with Lance Bass on a separate project, they would love to have their former chart rivals come out and sing with them.
Nick told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “We’re great friends with all of them. We love those guys.
“All those people from our era hold a very special place in peoples’ hearts out there, when it comes to the nostalgia, and we’re taking this as an opportunity now, coming out of the pandemic and everything that’s been happening over the past couple of years, to get people in the world out there, and entertain them, and give them some time away and bring some nostalgia and happiness to everyone’s lives.
“So we’re excited to get back on tour.”
The ‘I Want It That Way’ group – which also includes Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrel and Kevin Richardson – always enjoy “coaxing” famous guests out on stage when they’re in Las Vegas so suggested fans should be ready for anyone to join them at the gigs in the city.
Howie said: “In the past, we’ve had lots of entertainers come up on the stage with us.
“I mean, everybody that’s around town, that’s come to the show, you know, we’re pretty much coaxing them to come up on stage with us. We’ve had Shania Twain, Donny and Marie Osmond, Reba McEntire, we’ve had just a slew of other entertainers that have blessed us with their presence at our show.

OHMYGOSSIP — Foo Fighters, Slipknot, KISS, Rob Zombie and My Chemical Romance are to headline Aftershock festival.
The music extravaganza will return to Discovery Park in Sacramento, California from October 6th to 9th 2022 bigger than ever after expanding from three-and-a-half days to four full days.
Slipknot and Zombie will headline on the Thursday, followed by KISS and Judas Priest on the Friday, and My Chemical Romance and Papa Roach on the Saturday.
Rob said: “Aftershock is one of our favourite festivals.
“Always an amazing weekend. We are ready to take it to the next level this year.”
Jacoby Shaddix, Papa Roach’s frontman, admitted it is a “dream come true” for the ‘Broken Home’ hitmakers to be headlining the festival.
He said: “I am over the moon stoked to be one of the headliners of Aftershock this year.
“Honestly, this is like a dream come true. We have worked our whole career for moments like this, and cannot wait to be back in Sacramento, where it all began, for the hometown throwdown!
“NorCal better be f****** ready, cause it’s about to go down at Aftershock 2022!”
The Foos and Shinedown will conclude proceedings on the Sunday, and several other acts will also perform over the four days, including Bring Me the Horizon, Evanescence, Lamb of God, and Stone Temple Pilots.
Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee admitted the group “cannot wait” to perform.
She said: “We are so stoked to play at Aftershock in Sacramento this fall!
“MCR, Foo Fighters, KISS, Slipknot, there’s so much to look forward to! We absolutely cannot wait for this epic festival.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo is determined to “have fun” with her new album.
The 19-year-old singer already has a title and a “few songs” for her new record, and Olivia now has explained how she’ll approach making the album.
She shared: “I have a title for my next album and a few songs. It’s really exciting to think about the next world that’s coming up for me. I just love writing songs. I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself. [I want to] just sort of explore and have fun right now.”
Olivia still feels inspired by other female artists, despite her own success.
And the ‘drivers license’ hitmaker “can’t wait to cheer on the future”.
Asked what excites her about pop music in 2022, Olivia told Billboard: “I love how increasingly genre-less pop music is becoming.
“Pop music can mean so many different things, and I really love hearing so many different flavours of it these days.
“I am also just really excited about female singer-songwriters and how honestly and truthfully they’re speaking up. That’s always really inspiring to me. It’s so exciting to me to watch young women’s voices be heard and appreciated and celebrated in the ways that they have been lately.
“I just can’t wait to cheer on the future, my peers and future generations of female singer-songwriters.”
Olivia released her debut album,’SOUR’, in May 2021 – but the teenage star admits writing her second album was distinctly different.
She said: “It’s definitely a different experience writing a second album after having a debut that was so well received.
“I still write so much of my music in my bedroom, though, and I don’t think that experience will ever change. Writing songs will hopefully always be an outlet for me to process my feelings before anything else.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bring Me The Horizon’s 2021 ‘Post Human’ tour achieved 38 per cent less touring emissions.
Oli Sykes and co managed to make impressive strides towards making their runs eco-friendly last year.
The chart-topping heavy rock band managed to cut 27.97 tonnes of CO2e, while imposing a plastic bottle ban meant they didn’t use 3,322 bottles.
The ‘Teardrops’ rockers also swapped out trucking fuel for HVO Renewable Diesel, according to a report by the non-profit AGF (A Greener Festival).
AGF CEO Claire O’Neill said: “During the pandemic, the touring music industry came together on the important topic of sustainability. We’re so happy with the results from walking the talk with the first UK arena tour off the mark. The report shows a direct link between well-being, stress, and environmental sustainability. Culture change and industry restructuring is essential to achieve a green future for artist touring. There is much still to be done, but these results are undeniable evidence that we can take huge strides to reduce emissions and protect ecosystems immediately. There’s no excuse to delay.”
Kilimanjaro and Action! promoter Alan Day commented: “Bring Me The Horizon were the first band in the UK, possibly the world, to complete a full non-rescheduled arena tour after the height of the pandemic. Their vision from the start was to produce the tour as environmentally friendly as possible, whilst still giving the audience the best spectacle achievable. OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber is set to play the iconic Lucca Summer Festival.
The ‘Stay’ hitmaker has been announced as a performer for the Italian music extravaganza on July 31.
He said in a statement: “We’ve been working hard to create the best show we’ve ever done, and we can’t wait to share it with fans around the world. I’ll see you soon.”
The 27-year-old pop megastar follows in the footsteps of legendary acts, including The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Sir Elton John, and the late David Bowie, in playing the picturesque city in the Tuscany region beside the historic City Walls.
Justin joins a stellar lineup boasting the likes of Liam Gallagher, Kasabian, Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss and John Legend.
The ‘Sorry’ singer has also just been confirmed to headline Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary, in August.
Justin is performing in Europe as part of his ‘Justice World Tour’, which kicked off in the US this month.
The Grammy-winner was forced to postpone a show after he tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday (19.02.22), but is said to be feeling “OK” at the moment
His gig at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was reportedly postponed until the summer.
It’s not known if further shows will be affected.

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Brooker has died at the age of 76.
The rock star – best known as frontman of 1960s rock band Procol Harum – lost a battle with cancer on Saturday (19.02.2022), his record label has confirmed.
A statement read: “With the deepest regret we must announce the death on 19th February 2022 of Gary Brooker MBE, singer, pianist and composer of Procol Harum, and a brightly-shining, irreplaceable light in the music industry. Aged 76, he had been receiving treatment for cancer, but died peacefully at home.”
The London-born star – who is survived by his wife Franky – was a founding member of the band and co-wrote ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’, which went on to become their biggest hit and was featured in an advertising campaign for Dulux paint.
Procol Harum were initially active between 1967 and 1977 but – despite various line up changes – reunited in 1991 and released their latest EP in 2019.
In a statement, the band – which currently comprises Geoff Whitehorn, Matt Pegg, Josh Phillips and Geoff Dunn – said that Gary was the “defining constant” of their history.
The statement read: “Gary’s voice and piano were the single defining constant of Procol’s 50-year international concert career.
“Without any stage antics or other gimmicks he was invariably the most watchable musician in the show. But for all his other interests and skills – prize-winning angler, pub-owner, lyricist, painter, inventor – he was above all a devoted and loyal husband to Franky, whom he met in 1965 and married in 1968.
Our thoughts must be with her, their families and friends at this extremely sad time.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Lanegan has died.
The Screaming Trees frontman – who was also a member of Queens of the Stone Age and The Gutter Twins – passed away at his home in Killarney, Ireland, on Tuesday (22.02.22) aged just 57, though no details about his death have been given at this time.
A statement on his Twitter account confirmed: “Our beloved friend Mark Lanegan passed away this morning at his home in Killarney, Ireland.
“A beloved singer, songwriter, author and musician he was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley.
“No other information is available at this time. We ask please respect the family privacy.”
Tributes from fellow musicians have flooded in since the sad news was announced.
Joy Division and New Order’s former bassist, Peter Hook, remembered a “lovely man” who led a “wild life”.
Sharing a black and white photo on Twitter, he wrote: “Mark Lanegan was a lovely man. He led a wild life that some of us could only dream of.
“He leaves us with fantastic words and music! Thank god that through all of that he will live forever. RIP Mark. Sleep well. Love Hooky. X(sic)”
Moby, who teamed up with Mark in 2013 on ‘The Lonely Night’ paid tribute to his “old friend”.
He tweeted: “Rest In Peace, old friend. Truly. More and more the best are no longer with us. @marklanegan”
Screaming Trees drummer Mark Pickerel remembered his “big brother”.
He tweeted: “Goodbye old friend, I’ll miss you, I love you.

Charlatans singer Tim Burgess tweeted: “Oh no. Terrible news that Mark Lanegan has left us.

Mark – who is survived by wife Shelley Brien – began his career with Screaming Trees in 1984 and produced eight studio albums with the rockers until they split in 2000.
He became a frequent collaborator with Queens of the Stone Age and formed The Gutter Twins with Afghan Whigs’ Greg Dulli in 2003.
He also released 11 solo albums and, most recently, appeared on Manic Street Preachers track ‘Blank Diary Entry’ from their 2021 album ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Glass Animals were inspired by drummer Joe Seaward’s near-fatal crash.
The musician’s cycling accident was a “wake-up call” for the band after Joe fractured his skull and broke his leg almost four years ago in a lorry collision which left him fighting for his life.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper’s Guilty Pleasures column, frontman Dave Bayley said: “We really didn’t know if he was going to survive. We had to cancel everything we had coming up.
“When he started recovering, we were like, ‘We are so lucky to be able to do what we love for a living’ – you can never take that for granted.
“We’d been on the road, touring for five years solid at that point and we were all knackered. When that happened, it was a wake-up call. It was a horrible thing, but it ended up uniting everybody.”
Meanwhile, being by his side in hospital provided the inspiration behind the band’s album ‘Dreamland’ as they reflected on “life”.
Dave added: “You end up thinking about the past and your life. That’s where the roots of this record came from.”
After the accident in 2018, the singer gave fans an update on the group’s Facebook page and revealed the extent of his friend’s injuries.
At the time, he wrote: “The neurosurgery consisted of reshaping part of his skull that had collapsed and been compressed into the brain by the weight of the truck’s trailer. “The operation was successful, but the collapsed skull had bruised and damaged the area of the brain responsible for speech.
“Initially Joe was only able to get out one word … ‘I’ … but each day he is finding more. As far as we know, no other areas of his brain are severely damaged like this.
“He can still wiggle his fingers and twinkle his toes, and he still laughs at all my s*** jokes.”
