OHMYGOSSIP — Avril Lavigne has a “Hello Kitty bedroom” in her house.
The ‘Bite Me’ hitmaker – who just returned to her pop-punk roots on her latest LP ‘Love Sux’ – has kept hold of all the tiaras, crowns and stuffed Hello Kitty toys she’s either received from fans or from photoshoots over the years and turned a room in her house into a shrine for the Japanese character.
Avril also revealed the same room has a “stripper pole” and all of her guests shotgun staying in there.
She said: “I collect tiaras and crowns, from all of my photoshoots and videos. I probably have 30. And Hello Kitty. I have a Hello Kitty bedroom in my house. I have this huge pink couch that has all these Hello Kitty stuffed animals on it, from tours and from fans as gifts. The house was built around the bedroom. It’s big and has a stripper pole. It’s a guest bedroom and everyone wants to stay in there. I also have a whole wall of Doc Martens, in every single colour.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Sk8er Boy’ hitmaker revealed she is working with a designer on custom outfits for her upcoming tour.
She told Vogue: “I’m making all these custom outfits for myself right now with this awesome designer, Ashton Michael. I wish I had met him like 10 years ago. Onstage, you want your outfits to be elevated. This tour is gonna have my best stage outfits. Period.”
As for the preparations for the shows, Avril revealed she will run for almost two hours while singing to build up her stamina.
She explained: “I do three weeks of rehearsals. Two weeks of band rehearsals, and then a week of pre-production. I deal with wardrobe, which has to be special, because it’s on-stage.
“I do cardio – running for an hour and a half and singing at the same time. Before my last tour, my friend and I walked every night. I was like, ‘We’re doing 45 minutes of cardio!’ We’d drink wine and walk.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Grohl would hate to go solo.
The Foo Fighters frontman has insisted the ‘Everlong’ band’s new horror-comedy film, ‘Studio 666’, is full of “really hilarious rock and roll cliches”, and Dave doesn’t want to leave the band to embark on his own career.
He told Sky News: “The premise is based on a lot of really hilarious rock and roll cliches and stereotypes, right? The lead singer that wants to go solo and is at a creative war with his own band – and some lead singers do exactly that. That’s something I would never wish to do because I actually like being in the Foo Fighters.
“In the movie, I have writer’s block and I start losing my mind and we have these crazy, screaming, murderous arguments while we’re making the album. And when we make Foo Fighters records, honestly, we stroll into the studio, we usually have too much material and we spend a couple of weeks, a couple of months, just kind of playing our instruments and laughing hysterically… we still enjoy what we do and each other.”
Dave becomes possessed by a demon in the flick, which follows the band as they record their 10th studio album at the haunted Encino mansion.
Meanwhile, the former Nirvana drummer has dismissed claims he’s suffering from bad hearing loss and needs to lip read.
The 53-year-old rocker said: “If you were to ask any musician if they have any sort of hearing loss, I guarantee you 99.9% of those people will say, ‘oh, absolutely’… I’ve read some of those headlines where it’s like, I’ve been lip reading for years, and I can’t hear anything. It’s not that bad. It really isn’t. I go into the studio every day and I sit there and listen to the like, the tiny details of every mix and every song. I’m fine.
“Believe me, it’s only this ear. So if I don’t like you, I’ll sit to your right at dinner.”

OHMYGOSSIP — KSI was joined by special guests Anne-Marie, Nathan Dawe and Craig David as he performed at the OVO Arena Wembley on Friday night (25.02.22).
The YouTuber turned rapper had the sold-out crowd jumping as he ran through his hits such as ‘Patience’, ‘Don’t Play and ‘Lighter’ with the help of his star collaborators.
Craig, 40, was making his first live appearance since COVID forced him to pull out of the BRITs War Child gig earlier in February and after they performed their single ‘Really Love’ the garage icon paid tribute to KSI.
He said: “Look at the love for you bro. I’m so proud of you bro. Give it up for KSI.”
But before Craig could leave the stage, KSI had a request for him.
He asked his friend: “Craig can you do one thing for me? Can you do ‘7 Days’?”
Craig answered, “it would be a pleasure”, before launching into his smash hit from 2020 prompting a mass singalong.
The guests kept coming out with Randolph rapping on ‘Beerus’ and ‘Red Alert’, Swarmz adding his bars to ‘Houdini’, S1mba on ‘Loose’ and Deno joining KSI for ‘Gang Gang’.
On what was a celebratory night for the rap star, KSI took a moment to pay tribute to his late friend, SBTV founder Jamal Edwards who died last weekend at the age of 31.
Dedicating his hit record ‘Holiday’ to Jamal – the son of ‘Loose Women’ panellist and singer Brenda Edwards – KSI said: “Now, ladies and gentlemen, self-belief is something I’ve worked hard to get and it’s something that some people will never get in their entire lives. Sometimes you need someone to believe in you. Jamal Edwards was a man who believed in me and believed in so many people in our industry.
“My song ‘Holiday’ when I was about to release it. So many people said, ‘You’re not ready bro, you need features, you’re not ready to do it on your own, you need features, you’re a YouTuber.’ I said, ‘Go f*** yourselves, I’m going to release it anyway.’ You have all made it my biggest ever song.
“Ladies and gentlemen I’m going to dedicate this song to Jamal Edwards. I’m going to miss you bro.”
During the night, KSI got his fans to chant “f*** Jake Paul”, throwing some shade at his YouTube rival, the brother of his former boxing opponent Logan Paul and now business partner in his new drinks brand Prime.
KSI – real name JJ Olatunji – closed his show with an encore which featured a rendition of ‘Lamborghini’ – complete with a yellow version of the sports car on stage – and five performances of ‘Down Like That’ with rapper S-X.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Grohl believes Liam Gallagher is “one of the last remaining rock stars”.
The Foo Fighters frontman co-wrote the former Oasis singer’s latest single, ‘Everything’s Electric’ and while he’s delighted with the finished track – on which he also played drums – he regrets the fact they weren’t able to get together for the recording because he always has a “great” time with the rocker.
He told NME magazine: “Unfortunately we didn’t do it in person but I love being in the same room as Liam.
“It’s like putting a fucking quarter in a juke box and just turning it up with that guy. It’s f******great. Obviously, he’s an amazing singer and he’s a f****** rock star. He is one of the few last remaining rock stars.
“He was making a song [‘Everything’s Electric’] with the producer Greg Kurstin and they needed a beat which I think was described as something ‘Sabotage’-esque [Beastie Boys] and so I f****** served it up. I served up the beats. And the f****** single turned out great. I love that song I honestly do. I was dancing to it the other night.”
While Dave has been working with Liam, he admitted there are no immediate plans for new Foo Fighters songs because the group have been busy with their horror movie, ‘Studio 666’.
He said: “Not at the moment. We’ve been too wrapped up being movie stars to write rock songs.”
But the group “can’t wait” to get on the road for their long-delayed world tour.
Dave said: “We’re gonna be bouncing around the planet for the next 10 months. When everything shut down in 2020 [because of COVID], I think we all felt the sting that we’d been on the road pretty much our entire career.
“But when it was taken away from us, everyone wanted it back even more and we begged for a tour. We begged for shows and then we got this itinerary through and I was like: ‘Oh my god what were we thinking? Holy s***that’s a lot of shows!’
“I think there’s 70 or more coming up. But hallelujah brother I can’t wait.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Marr has suggested Morrissey was looking for attention when they had their public row last month.
The ‘Panic’ singer issued an “open letter” asking his former Smiths bandmate to stop talking about him in interviews, prompting the 58-year-old star to hit back on Twitter.
And Johnny insisted it was important to “defend” himself but he’s not interested in a war of words.
He told the Sunday Times Culture magazine: “When you’re attacked out of the blue, particularly in public, you have to defend yourself. The letter was designed to be insulting, wasn’t it? That has to have been the idea. If it’s something that’s not based in fact, you have to react in kind, which is just… with ridicule.
“Look, it was about [his wanting] attention, and I’m getting a lot of it. I’ve got my new record coming out, and that’s getting attention too. All my solo records have. I just do what I do. I’ll just carry on being who I am.”
Morrissey had “politely” requested that Johnny stop mentioning him in interviews as he accused the guitarist of talking about him as if he were his “personal psychiatrist”.
Writing in a blog entry on his Morrissey Central website, the 62-year-old musician began: “This is not a rant or an hysterical bombast. It is a polite and calmly measured request: Would you please stop mentioning my name in your interviews?
“Would you please, instead, discuss your own career, your own unstoppable solo achievements and your own music? If you can, would you please just leave me out of it?
“The fact is: you don’t know me. You know nothing of my life, my intentions, my thoughts, my feelings. Yet you talk as if you were my personal psychiatrist with consistent and uninterrupted access to my instincts.”
The ‘Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now’ hitmakers split in 1987 due to personal differences between Morrissey and Marr and the controversial frontman is fed up of being made out that he is to “blame for everything”.
Morrissey continued: “We haven’t known each other for 35 years – which is many lifetimes ago. When we met you and I were not successful. We both helped each other become whatever it is we are today. Can you not just leave it at that?
“Must you persistently, year after year, decade after decade, blame me for everything … from the 2007 Solomon Islands tsunami to the dribble on your grandma’s chin?”
In response, Johnny tweeted: “Dear @officialmoz. An ‘open letter’ hasn’t really been a thing since 1953, It’s all ‘social media’ now. Even Donald J Trump had that one down. Also, this fake news business… a bit 2021 yeah? #makingindiegreatagain (sic)”.

OHMYGOSSIP — MC Skibadee has died aged 54.
The news has been announced by the family of the legendary MC, who burst on the scene in the 90s and is widely considered to be a pioneer in the drum and bass genre.
His eldest child said in a statement: “Hello everyone, as Alphonso’s first born I unfortunately come with some sad news to say that Skibadee has passed away.
“As a family we ask for some privacy but may he rest in peace.”
A host of music stars have already paid their own tribute to Skibadee – whose real name was Alfonso Bondzie – on social media.
Producer DJ Fresh hailed the MC as a “great guy” and a “friend”.
He wrote online: “I cannot believe I’m writing this. RIP @TheRealSkibz MC Skibadee.
“His contribution to Drum and Bass can never be equalled. He was first and foremost a great guy I always really enjoyed spending time with.
“Goodbye old friend, we will keep your memory alive forever. (sic)”
Elsewhere, Lisa Maffia – who shot to fame as part of So Solid Crew – took to Twitter to pay her own tribute to Skibadee.
She wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “Not to sure what to say! Another pioneer gone!
“My heart goes out to your beautiful daughters, family and friends. DnB finest @therealskibagram I’m sorry to hear this news. Rest well sir #skiba #RIP (sic)”
Meanwhile, garage star Plastician hailed Skibadee as “your favourite MC’s favourite MC’s favourite MC”.
He added: “I think he was the first person I ever heard MC, and I’m sure that would be the same for a lot of people my age.
“Can’t underestimate the foundations that guy built for everything we’ve had since then.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Vedder had a “pretty serious” case of COVID-19.
The Pearl Jam frontman’s “life flashed before [his] eyes” when he came down with coronavirus recently, and he was grateful to return to the stage at his rescheduled gig on Friday (25.02.22).
Speaking at his solo concert at Los Angeles’ YouTube Theater to promote his latest album, ‘Earthlings’, he said: “I just wanted to take a quick second to look at this, because it’s very rare. It’s incredible. I got the COVID right before we were supposed to start practicing, probably five, six weeks ago, and literally saw my life flash in front of my eyes.”
Eddie was surprised he caught the virus.
He continued: “I wasn’t quite sure … because I’ve done some very good things for my body, and I’ve also had a lot of fun. I’ve done some things that could be … some kind of abuse, I mean, nothing really clinical. I won’t get into the details. Just use your imagination!
“But it was, it felt pretty serious, and to get through that and then be back in a room like this, facing this many people facing this way, listening to us play music for you is really, truly, it’s been a gift and an honour. Thanks for listening. We’re so grateful.”
At the show, the ‘Go’ rocker was joined on stage by his 17-year-old daughter Olivia for a duet of ‘My Father’s Daughter’.
The news of the gig being delayed was announced in early February.
In a statement, the 57-year-old rocker wrote at the time: “We have been following Covid protocols but still had a positive test in our touring party. The appropriate response is to postpone the next two shows. Everyone, please take care.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Green Day have cancelled their Moscow concert amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The ‘American Idiot’ rockers were scheduled to bring their ‘Hella Mega Tour’ to the Spartak Stadium in the Russian capital on May 29, but in light of President Vladimir Putin’s attack on Ukraine, the band nixed their show.
In a statement, Billie Joe Armstrong and co said: “With heavy hearts, in light of current events we feel it is necessary to cancel our upcoming show in Moscow at Spartak Stadium.
“We are aware that this moment is not about stadium rock shows, it’s much bigger than that. But we also know that rock and roll is forever and we feel confident there will be a time and a place for us to return in the future. Stay safe.”
The ‘Basket Case’ group pulling their gig comes after Russia was banned from this year’s ‘Eurovision Song Contest’.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) – which produces the event – announced the decision to ban Russia from the show, saying it could bring the competition into disrepute “in light of the unprecedented crisis in Ukraine”.
In a statement, the EBU said: “The decision reflects concern that, in light of the unprecedented crisis in Ukraine, the inclusion of a Russian entry in this year’s Contest would bring the competition into disrepute.
“Before making this decision the EBU took time to consult widely among its membership.
“The EBU is an apolitical member organisation of broadcasters committed to upholding the values of public service.”
The organisation explained that it’s determined to protect the “values” of the event, which is due to be held in Turin, Italy, in May.
The statement explained: “We remain dedicated to protecting the values of a cultural competition which promotes international exchange and understanding, brings audiences together, celebrates diversity through music and unites Europe on one stage.”
The EBU had initially insisted the country would still be able to compete at Eurovision.
The organisers explained that they were “currently planning” to host entrants from both Russia and Ukraine.
The statement said at the time: “We of course will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
However, Ukraine’s state broadcaster, UA:PBC, called for Russia to be suspended from the event, which was won by Italy’s Maneskin in 2021.
The broadcaster described their Russian counterparts as a “mouthpiece for the Kremlin and a key tool of political propaganda”.
UA:PBC also described the situation as being “contrary” to the values of the EBU.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bjorn Ulvaeus was spotted busking at a train station.
The ABBA hitmaker confused commuters when they saw him singing and playing an acoustic guitar with a tip jar at a metro station in the Swedish capital city of Stockholm dressed up as a cowboy.
The 76-year-old hitmaker – who is reported to be worth over a £100 million after selling 400 million albums across the world – was not believed to be singing for his supper as the al fresco performance was in honour of his pal Tomas Ledin’s 70th birthday.
To mark the occasion, Bjorn reworked on of his 70s tunes ‘Hej Gamle Man’ into a country song, now titled ‘Hey Grand Ol’ Man’.
The singer-songwriter made an accompanying video to go with the song, which also with the busking, included Bjorn doing some line-dancing to the cheeky lyrics that go: “the time has come for you to learn that girls don’t see old men. And once you have gone invisible, you’re never seen again.”
Bjorn is set to begin his hologrammed avatar stage show in London in May after at a purpose built stage after the four piece – which also includes Benny Andersson, Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad – dropped ‘Voyage’, their first album in nearly 40 years
During the September 2021 announcement, he said: “We have always felt the Brits see us as their own.”
Praising the UK’s capital, Benny also said: “London is the best city to be in. When it comes to entertainment – theatre, musicals, concerts – it is all here. It has been here for years and years and years. There is a big audience travelling here for that reason. It was a no-brainer.”
In a letter to fans, the group explained their album name, saying it was a reference to how they were “truly sailing in uncharted waters”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams will debut a mash-up of his music and Ludwig van Beethoven’s.
The former Take That member is “looking forward” to showcasing his latest creation – a track that merges his 1997 smash hit ‘Angels’ and the classical composer’s ‘Unfinished 10th Symphony’ – at the Mobile Congress on Monday (28.02.22) in Barcelona.
The 48-year-old pop star told The Daily Star: “I’m looking forward to the preview of this interesting version at Mobile World Congress.”
Robbie has included a modern twist – the classical music being performed by Artifical Intelligence – due to his love of the advancements in science “now enabling art”.
He said: “For me, it’s fascinating how much technology is now enabling art.”
Deutsche Telekom – the company behind the AI – is “particularly pleased” to be collaborating with the ‘Let Me Entertain You’ hitmaker.
Claudia Nemat from Deutsche Telekom said: “We’re particularly pleased to be working with Robbie Williams on one of the best songs in pop history to explore the possibilities of AI creativity.”
Robbie – who is married to Ayda Field, , 42, with whom has four kids, Theodora, nine, Charlton, seven, Colette, three, and Beau, two – has been on a roll creatively recently as on Friday (25.02.22), his dance track ‘Sway’ with the group Lufthaus- a collaboration with his long-time producers Tim Metcalfe and Flynn Francis – dropped on YouTube and other streaming services.
And more music is expected from the trio.
The group said: “This project has been keeping us busy in the studio throughout the pandemic, so we’re delighted to now be releasing the first single.
“We’ve purposely kept Lufthaus unrevealed, so we’re looking forward to releasing more music and revealing more material over the coming months.”
Robbie also shared that he a wealth of material on his computer “that won’t see the light of day” for years.
He said:“Sometimes I have songs that sit on my computer for five years, like ‘Candy’, for example, I had that for three years.
“There is stuff that’s on my computer now that I wrote two years ago that probably won’t see the light of day for another two years.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Welch thinks it’s hard for women in the music industry to maintain a normal family life.
The 35-year-old singer believes women in the business face a different set of challenges than their male counterparts.
Florence – who has previously expressed her support for women’s rights during concerts – explained: “As an artist, I never actually thought about my gender that much. I just got on with it.
“I was as good as the men and I just went out there and matched them every time.
“But now, thinking about being a woman in my thirties and the future, I suddenly feel this tearing of my identity and my desires.
“To be a performer but also to want a family might not be as simple for me as it is for my male counterparts.”
The ‘You’ve Got the Love’ hitmaker has previously “modelled” herself on male stars.
But now, she realises there’s a distinct difference between herself and some of her music heroes.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I had modelled myself almost exclusively on male performers. And for the first time I felt a wall come down between me and my idols, as I have to make decisions they did not.”
Meanwhile, Florence previously admitted she started drinking at one point in time in order to escape the pressures of fame.
The chart-topping star found fame and success hard to deal with earlier in her career, and she turned to alcohol as a means of coping with the situation.
She said: “That’s when the drinking and the partying exploded, as a way to hide from it. I was drunk a lot of the time, on extra dirty Martinis – my way of drinking three shots at once. I was never interested in a nice glass of wine.”
However, Florence eventually realised that she could cope without the alcohol.
She explained: “When I realised I could perform without the booze it was a revelation. There’s discomfort and rage, and the moment when they meet is when you break open. You’re free.”

OHMYGOSSIP — George Ezra is set to perform at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee party.
The 28-year-old singer has been confirmed as the first act for the Queen’s Jubilee event at Buckingham Palace on June 4, with George promising to bring “pop and roll” to the royal residence.
He said: “I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert, what an incredible honour to be asked.”
The upcoming concert will celebrate the monarch’s 70 years on the throne and will have an in-person audience of 10,000 people.
Half of the tickets will be given to members of the public from a ballot.
In a statement, the Palace added: “The remaining tickets will be made available to charitable organisations including those who work in support of young people, the military, the environment and those who supported communities during the pandemic.”
Meanwhile, George has been forced to cancel a series of upcoming gigs after catching chickenpox.
The ‘Barcelona’ hitmaker recently cancelled three dates in April – in Edinburgh, Manchester and London – and revealed he’s feeling “pretty under the weather”.
He wrote on Twitter: “Hello [waving emoji] As you can see, I’m pretty under the weather right now with chicken pox so I’m sorry to say that I’m going to need to move my upcoming shows. The rescheduled dates will be: April 12 – London Palladium April 13 – Manchester Opera house April 14 – Edinburgh Usher Hall
“As we’ve had to change the venue in Edinburgh all tickets will be refunded. However if you had tickets to the original date then you will have first access to tickets for the new show at Usher Hall and will receive an email over the course of the week including a presale link.

OHMYGOSSIP — Stereophonics will join Pearl Jam for their second night at BST Hyde Park.
The British rock band will support Pearl Jam at their huge gig in central London on July 9, with the event marking the Stereophonics’ first performance in the iconic royal park for a decade.
The ‘Handbags and Gladrags’ hitmakers last played at Hyde Park in 2012, when they performed for the opening ceremony of the London Olympics.
The organisers have also confirmed that Cat Power, White Reaper, The Murder Capital, The Glorious Sons, Simon Townshend, La Luz, Sick Joy and Dream Nails will all perform on July 8, when they’ll be joined by previously announced special guests Pixies.
The following day will also see Imelda May, The Last Internationale, La Luz, JJ Wilde and The Wild Things take to the stage in central London, with more artists due to be added in the coming weeks.
Pearl Jam were due to play at BST Hyde Park in 2021 – but their performance was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The organisers explained at the time that they were cancelling the show with a “heavy heart”.
A statement read: “Following our review of the most recent government advice, the latest timeline means that we are unable to deliver with certainty the quality BST Hyde Park is known for in the time available. By making this decision at this stage we allow artists, crew, fans and everyone that comes together to help create these shows to plan accordingly.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the NHS and all the incredible organisations and individuals who have been working tirelessly in these past twelve months to keep the country safe. Your efforts are enormously appreciated.

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo experienced a “pinch me” moment when she visited the White House.
The 19-year-old singer met US President Joe Biden at the White House in 2021, when she encouraged young Americans to get vaccinated against COVID-19, and Olivia now looks back on the experience with a sense of pride.
The chart-topping star – who released her debut album, SOUR’, in May 2021 – said: “One of the craziest moments in my life was getting to go to the White House and meet President Joe Biden and support vaccination in America.
“The whole time I was in the White House having this incredible experience, I was just thinking about how I got to do it because I wrote a bunch of songs in my bedroom. That was just a real ‘pinch me’ moment.”
Olivia is currently preparing to head out on tour, almost a year after she released her first album.
And the teenage star is now looking forward to performing in front of her fans.
She told Billboard: “A really beautiful thing about songwriting is watching songs that are so personal to you go out into the world and kind of take on another life. So performing the songs now is even more special than it was when I was writing them in my bedroom, because they now have so many other people’s stories intertwined within them, too.
“I’m really excited to experience that firsthand on tour.”
Meanwhile, Olivia previously urged her fans to get their COVID-19 vaccine.
The ‘good 4 u’ hitmaker also praised the efforts of President Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci, his chief medical adviser.
She said in the White House press briefing room: “I’m in awe of the work President Biden and Dr. Fauci have done and was happy to help lend my support to this important initiative.
“It’s important to have conversations with friends and family members encouraging all communities to get vaccinated, and actually get to a vaccination site, which you can do more easily than ever before, given how many sites we have and how easy it is to find them at vaccines.gov.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Aguilera has “never stopped singing in Spanish”.
The 41-year-old star recently released the first part of her Spanish project, an EP titled ‘La Fuerza’, and although it’s more than 20 years since her first Spanish-language album, she’s always had the ambition at the back of her mind.
She shared: “As an artist you can’t stay stuck. [Trying new things] can be scary and I’m not as confident writing in Spanish as I am in English, but its so special to me. You’re never too old old to learn something new.”
Christina was raised by her Spanish-speaking mother, and she’s always relished singing in the language.
She told Billboard’s Twitter Spaces: “I’ve always had it in me. I never stopped singing in Spanish.
“Whenever the opportunities came about where I was really passionate about a project, I’d go for it. I always say when you grow up with something, if it’s part of your household, my mom was fluent in Spanish, that’s how she met and connected with my dad, who’s from Ecuador. I heard the language so much. I always say, when it’s in you, it never leaves you.”
Christina has also teased the next chapters in her Spanish project.
She said: “Fans have waited for so long so I wanted to give them surprises throughout the year.
“The first chapter is ‘La Fuerza’ and each body of work represents a different tone and different mood and a different release of the journey that I’m on as a woman. You start with the strength, and we’re going to be more tender and open up to be a bit more vulnerable with the material in the next chapter and then we’ll close on this healing note.
“It was very personal to me. I wanted it to come from the heart.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Avril Lavigne says Machine Gun Kelly and Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker “brought their own flavour and skill” to her new album, ‘Love Sux’.
The 37-year-old musician has returned to her pop-punk roots on her follow-up to 2019’s ballad-heavy ‘Head Above Water’, which was released on Friday (25.02.22), and has explained how the LP “sounds sonically different with their chops on it.”
She told Vogue: “They brought their own flavour and skill. Having new people to work with is really inspiring.
“Machine Gun Kelly is a fantastic writer and he played guitar; Mark [Hoppus] played bass on his song; Travis plays drums on some of the songs. It really sounds sonically different with their chops on it, instead of just hiring a studio session player. I’ll work with producers and they’ll hire a guitar player, and I always have to sit with them and go through each track and make notes.
“But when John Feldmann played guitar, I was like, ‘you’re my favorite guitar player!’ Everyone understood me and what I was going for.”
The ‘Sk8er Boy’ hitmaker insisted she was “not in the mood” to write more ballads and just wanted to “rock”.
She said: “I started talking to Travis [Barker, who contributed to the album] in 2020, and then I worked on it all of last year. I decided to make a fun rock and roll record. I was just not in the mood to sing ballads or mid-tempos—I was like, let’s just rock. I worked with really cool fun people on the scene, like Machine Gun Kelly, Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker.”
Avril released ‘Love Sux’ on Travis’ record label, DTA.
It features the singles ‘Bite Me’ and the Blackbear-featuring track ‘Love It When You Hate Me’.
Mark is featured on ‘All I Wanted’ and MGK is on ‘Bois Lie’.
