Paolo Nutini announces plans for UK and European tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Paolo Nutini has announced plans for a major UK and European tour later this year.
The 35-year-old singer will begin his tour in Limerick, in the Republic of Ireland, on August 21 and it will also include a London performance at the historic Alexandra Palace.
Paolo will perform two shows in his homeland of Scotland, as well as gigs in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The tour will finish in Aberdeen on November 1.
Paolo will perform tracks from his eagerly-awaited new album, ‘Last Night In The Bittersweet’, which will be released on July 1. And any fans who pre-order the new record by 3pm BST on May 23 will be given exclusive access to a pre-sale for tour tickets.
The pre-sale will open on May 23 and will end when the tickets go on general sale at 9am BST on May 25.
Paolo hasn’t released a new album since ‘Caustic Love’ in 2014, and an insider recently explained the reason behind the long delay.
The source said: “Paolo has spent so long working on this new music that he has been extra hands-on in making sure everything is completely perfect.
“He cares so much about the songs and wants to give his fans, who have waited years for new music, the best experience possible.
“Paolo was insistent that only a handful of people in his inner circle listened to the songs before they were released. And hardly anyone has heard the album yet.”
The singer has also been determined to ensure that nothing leaked at the last moment.
The insider shared: “He is a very private person and wasn’t going to risk anything leaking at the last moment.
“Things have been kept under lock and key for months but now he is finally ready to release it.”

Sugababes announce their Glastonbury comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — The Sugababes will make their comeback at Glastonbury.
The chart-topping band are one of the biggest girl groups of all time in the UK, and the original line-up of Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Doherty are now looking forward to performing at the world-famous festival.
Keisha, 37, told The Sun newspaper: “This is going to be something special for our fans. We can’t wait.”
The group will perform on the Avalon stage on June 24, and they’re already in rehearsals for their gig.
Keisha, Mutya and Siobhan had originally planned to launch their comeback in 2020 – but their ambitions were derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During an Instagram Live, Keisha explained: “We had so many plans for last year.
“2020 was our anniversary year, we built it up to do so many things but it didn’t happen, so we have to restructure.
“We just have to be motivated to do it and passionate about it and once we are actually in the studio it flows really easily for us. But it’s about getting us all on the same page on the same date and the pandemic makes it really tricky.
“It just has to be organic and be on the same page as far as our schedules are concerned.”
Last year, meanwhile, Siobhan revealed the band had been working on new music.
However, she also insisted there were “no concrete plans” in place at the time.
She said: “There’s nothing concrete at the moment, but we are working on stuff all the time and definitely new music.
“We love making music together and that’s something we’re going to continue to do. And hopefully it won’t be too long now, now that we can be in the studio together again.”

She and Him record Brian Wilson tribute album

OHMYGOSSIP — She and Him’s new album is a tribute to legendary songwriter Brian Wilson.
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward’s new record, titled ‘Brian Wilson. Melt Away: A Tribute to Brian Wilson’, features 14 cover songs infused with their own distinctive style.
The musical duo – who have previously worked with Brian – said: “In the spring of 2020, we started a list of our favourite Brian songs – a very long list.
“We chose songs without any regard to their chart performance. The obscure ones hit us just as hard as the more popular songs – and all are ripe for re-imagining, re-interpreting, and re-inventing.
“Brian writes songs of beauty and loneliness and vulnerability better than anyone – and by sequencing them next to popular songs of confidence and love and fun, it creates a more complete picture of life on earth.”
The new album is the band’s first record since their 2016 release ‘Christmas Party’.
Brian, 79 – who is widely recognised as one of the most significant songwriters of his generation – is a big fan of She and Him’s new album.
The acclaimed musician described the harmonies as “beautiful” and admitted to loving the new record.
He said: “Zooey and Matt did such mind-blowing versions of our songs. The harmonies are beautiful and right on. I love this record!”
Zooey and Matt have already filmed a QVC-inspired video for ‘Darlin’, the first single off the album. In the Lara Jean Gallagher-directed video, the duo are seen trading lead vocals while they try to sell nail polish.

1. Darlin’
2. Wouldn’t It Be Nice
3. Til I Die
4. Deirdre

Pearl Jam cancel tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Pearl Jam have cancelled the rest of their US tour.
The ‘Alive’ group have been joined at recent shows by guest drummers after Matt Cameron contracted COVID-19, but after bassist Jeff Ament also tested positive for the virus, they have made the decision to scrap their remaining concerts in Sacramento and Las Vegas.
Eddie Vedder and his bandmates apologised to fans who were due to attend the shows.
They said in a statement shared to Twitter: “Dear PJ fans and ticket holders, while the band battled through Oakland after drummer Matt Cameron tested positive for Covid, and Fresno where Ed and the band got through it with the help of Dave Krusen as special guest drummer, they now have to present the heartbreaking news that this morning bassist Jeff Ament has tested positive for COVID.
“This is horrible for everybody involved and we are especially sorry to those out there who have made plans to attend these shows. Our attention to staying inside the bubble has been constant. We have truly done all that we could have to remain clear of infection.
“Regretfully, the Sacramento and Las Vegas shows are canceled. Ticket refunds will be automatically processed to ticket holders’ method of purchase. We are so very sorry. Be safe out there.”
Pearl Jam’s first drummer Dave Krusen, 56, this week played with the group for the first time in 31 years.
Professionals Josh Klinghoffer and Richard Stuverud have also filled in in Matt’s absence, but the group also enlisted local fans to perform on some tracks with them.
During last week’s shows in Oakland, California, local music teacher Josh Arroyo stepped up to play the group’s final song ‘Yellow Ledbetter’, and the following evening, teenager Kai Neukermans – who plays in a band called The Alive – was brought on stage to play ‘Mind Your Manners’.
According to reports, both men had been carefully scouted and selected before the shows and are believed to have had time to rehearse with the band, rather than their introduction to the stage being spontaneous.

Ozzy Osbourne to release new album in September

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne will release his new album in October.
The ‘Paranoid’ rocker confirmed last month he’d finished recording the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Ordinary Man’ and now the 73-year-old singer’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, has told fans they can expect to hear it in just a few months time.
Speaking on ‘The Graham Norton Radio Show’, she said: “He’s good. He’s really, really good. He’s finished another album which is coming out in September. And there we are.
“He’s busy in the studio. He still does all his writing and singing, and it keeps him really happy… He’ll never stop singing and writing.
“We’ve built him a big studio here [at the house in the UK], so he can do it all at home. And he can’t wait to come back, to be honest with you.”
Ozzy teased he’d finished the record just a few weeks ago.
He wrote on Instagram: “I’m so happy to let everyone know that I finished my new album this week and delivered it to my label @EpicRecords. I’ll be sharing all the information about the album and its’ upcoming release with you in the next weeks.”
However, according to financial documents from Sony, the record had initially been planned to be released at the end of April.
Last December, producer and guitarist Andrew Watt revealed that they were half way through the new album, which is tipped to feature Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, musician Eric Clapton, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, the late Taylor Hawkins and Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Along with his music, Ozzy has teamed up with Bono, Bruce Springsteen and Elton John for Global Citizens ‘Stand Up for Ukraine’ campaign to “amplify the call” to help the unfolding humanitarian crisis.
Ozzy wrote: “We’re standing up for Ukraine. We’re asking everyone who sees this to amplify this call — post yourself, share a video from an activist, or share this video — so that our world leaders know we need the world to stand up for Ukraine and support refugees.”

Olivia Rodrigo was the big winner of the 2022 Billboard Music Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo dominated the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, winning seven prizes.
The annual ceremony returned to Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday night (15.05.22), and this year half of the winners were unveiled on TikTok and the other half during a live broadcast on Peacock and NBC in the US.
Teenage pop superstar Olivia, 19, and rap legend Kanye, 44, dominated the evening.
Olivia won Top New Artist, Top 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Artist and Top R B Female Artist, while ‘SOUR’ was crowned Top Billboard 200 Album.
As for Kanye, the ‘Jesus Walks’ rapper dominated the gospel and Christian categories, with ‘Donda’ taking home both Top Christian and Top Gospel Album. The star-studded bash was hosted by Diddy and featured performances from Megan Thee Stallion, Silk Sonic, Burna Boy, Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran and Machine Gun Kelly.
Before the ceremony started, organisers caused controversy by allowing country star Morgan Wallen to make an appearance despite him being banned last year for use of a racial slur.
The 29-year-old singer-songwriter performed right after civil rights activist Tamika Mallory gave a speech about social justice and anti-racism, which raised a few eyebrows.
Travis Scott also performed, six months after the Astroworld tragedy, which saw 10 people lose their lives in a crowd surge at the rapper’s festival.
Before the event, host Diddy addressed the booking of Morgan and Travis.
He said: “To have Morgan and Travis be able to come back and touch the stage again with the mindset of getting a second chance at life.
“Everybody in the room is getting a second chance at life, you know, because we’re back outside with no masks on. We need love and I’m excited about celebrating that.”

Maxwell pays tribute to Michael Jackson at Billboard Music Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Maxwell paid tribute to Michael Jackson by performing one of the late star’s tracks at the Billboard Music Awards.
The 48-year-old singer took to the stage to perform at the annual prize-giving at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday night (15.05.22).
He decided to honour Michael’s album ‘Thriller’ ahead of the 40th anniversary of its release in November by performing the record’s final track, ‘The Lady of My Life’.
Wearing a sparkly black suit and gloves, the singer appeared to have taken inspiration from the late King of Pop’s own costume style for the number.
At the end of the performance, Maxwell finished the song by saying: “We love you Michael Jackson.”
The song features the lyrics: “Baby through the years/ Gonna love you more each day/ So I promise you tonight/ That you’ll always be the lady in my life.”
‘Thriller’ was Michael’s sixth album and became the best-selling record of all time.
It was released on November 30, 1982, meaning it will reach its 40th milestone later this year.
The album became a number one hit on charts across the globe, including America’s Billboard 100, and spawned seven singles including ‘The Girl Is Mine’, Billie Jean’, ‘Beat It’, ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin” and title track ‘Thriller’.
It sold 32 million copies across the globe and it remains the world’s highest-selling album ever.
‘Thriller’ also won eight Grammy Awards and was inducted into the institution’s Hall of Fame, while it also scooped eight American Music Awards.
Michael Jackson died in 2009, at the age of 50, after suffering a drug overdose.

Sam Fender feared he wouldn’t sing again

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Fender feared he’d never sing again after a vocal cord haemorrhage.
The ‘Seventeen Going Under’ hitmaker recalled feeling like he’d been stabbed in the throat when he experienced a surge of pain during a performance at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Middlesbrough in 2019 and was convinced it was “a proper nail in the coffin” for his career.
He said: “I did that gig and my voice . . . it was like glass, like someone was stabbing us in the throat when I was trying to sing ‘Hypersonic Missiles’, which is a high song.
“It was a nightmare. I came off stage, I couldn’t talk and that was when it was like, boom. Done.”
After seeing a doctor, Sam was told he’d suffered the haemorrhage and also had a polyp on his vocal cords, so he was forced into “full silence” for a month to help his voice heal.
He added on the ‘Hide And Speak’ podcast: “I literally shut the f*** up for a month. I locked myself away – like full silence for a month – in my mum’s flat and just literally switched off.”
Meanwhile, the BRIT Award winner recently confessed he relishes telling his former classmates to “f*** off” when they ask him to play at their weddings.
The ‘Spit Of You’ singer felt out of place at a sixth form college in a wealthy part of Whitley Bay, North East England, and while his fellow students used to make fun of him then, but they are keen to ask him for favours now he’s a star, and he has no problem with turning them down.
He said: “There was a corner of the common room that they used to call peasants’ corner, and that’s where I used to sit.
“But they’re all asking us to play their weddings now. And I subsequently tell them all to f*** off. It’s wonderful.”
The 28-year-old musician is already planning his next album following the success of chart-topping ‘Seventeen Going Under’ and is set on cracking America.
Asked what his goals for 2022 are, he said: “Write and record another record, tour that record. Go out to America, start doing stuff out there because we’ve not really scratched the surface of the States.
“It’s flying over here and it’s starting to fly in Europe.”

Travis Scott returns to stage for first gig since Astroworld tragedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Travis Scott has performed his first public gig since 10 people were killed at his Astroworld music festival in Texas last year.
The rapper, who is dating reality star Kylie Jenner, took to the stage at the E11EVEN nightclub in Miami, Florida to deliver a 45-minute set in the early hours of Sunday morning (08.05.22).
He started the night in the DJ booth before grabbing the mic and performing hits including ‘Sicko Mode’, ‘Goosebumps’ and ‘Antidote’.
According to New York Post gossip column PageSix, Travis threw money into the audience and said: “Everybody owes me a shot … we need every stripper to report to the f****** stage right now. We need every bottle reported to this motherf****** floor.”
During the set, Travis also performed the track ‘Dubai S***’ with rapper/singer Quavo.
TMZ.com reports he played to a star-studded crowd which included will.i.am, Logan Paul, Busta Rhymes, Future and Kylie’s ex-boyfriend Tyga.
Travis was thrust into the spotlight last year after eight crowd members died in a terrifying crush during the first night of his event at the NRG Park in Houston in November 2021.
Two more revellers died from their injuries in hospital in the days after the event, while 300 gig-goers were left injured.
The Miami gig marks his first major show since the Astroworld tragedy. Travis hasn’t cut out performing entirely over the last few months – he previously performed a short guest appearance at a Coachella afterparty on April 17. He also played at at a private pre-Oscars party in Bel-Air on March 26.
He’s also set to head the Primavera Festival in South America, which visits countries including Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Travis will play three shows in November alongside singer Lorde. Other acts on the bill for the festival include Arctic Monkeys and Bjork. According to TMZ, Travis plans to book in more shows over the summer.

Kendrick Lamar drops The Heart Part 5

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendrick Lamar has returned with his new single, ‘The Heart Part 5’.
The hip-hop megastar has delivered the latest track in his ‘The Heart’ series, which kicked off with ‘The Heart Part 1’ and ‘The Heart Part 2’ in 2010.
The latest instalment – which is the first since 2017’s Part 4 – is the lead single from the Grammy winner’s hotly-awaited fifth studio album, ‘Mr. Morale And The Big Steppers’, which is released on Friday (13.05.22).
In the music video, helmed by Kendrick and Dave Free, with “special thanks” to Trey Parker and Matt Stone (‘South Park’), the rapper appears in front of a plain red backdrop before his face is deepfaked into the likes of O.J. Simpson, Jussie Smollett, Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Will Smith.
The ‘Money Trees’ star recently used his Oklahoma website (oklama.com) to announce that the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Damn’ will drop on May 13.
Kendrick shared the news for the hotly-anticipated album after teasing it in August 2021, labelling it his “final TDE album”, referring to the label Top Dawg Entertainment.
At the time, the page read: “May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling. There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown. Oklama.”
He recently appeared to suggest his comeback album comes as a double-disc.
A new image was uploaded to the rapper’s website and suggested ‘Mr Morale and the Big Steppers’ is split into two halves, as one CD is marked up ‘MORALE’ and the other ‘STEPPERS’.
As well as the two discs, a book with the same name as the album and Kendrick’s name as the author is being held in the snap, hinting the rapper may have penned a tome to accompany the LP.
Meanwhile, Kendrick’s engineer, Derek ‘MixedByAli’ Ali, previously teased that he has enough new material for “six albums”.
He said: “I would say every album that he has dropped since [2012’s] ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City’ has come with a different feeling, so just look forward to Kendrick obviously expressing himself in the most creative way – the most highest of the creative way.
“How he works, I’ve never seen it before. The recording process, the thought process of piecing an album together and sequencing it. Things like that is what keeps guys like me great. Watching his work ethic … You would expect someone like [Kendrick] to be at home and sitting back: nah, he still comes in on time and is punctual.”

Diana Ross and Tame Impala album ‘coming soon’

OHMYGOSSIP — Diana Ross and Tame Impala seemingly have a new album “coming soon”.
A poster for the joint project has been spotted in London with a starry list of featured artists billed under their names, including Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Brittany Howard, Thundercat, Brockhampton and Weyes Blood.
Jack Antonoff is also listed as the producer and his band Bleachers are included in the featured artists list.
The studio wizard is known for collaborating with the likes of Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, and St. Vincent.
An insider revealed last year that the Motown legend, 78, and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker’s psychedelic outlet had collaborated, though it was only thought to be one song at the time.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Diana might be 77 but she is determined to push musical boundaries and challenge herself. She loves reinvention and melting genres together. She’s really excited to work with Tame Impala and is ecstatic with the track – she can’t wait for fans to hear it.”
The former Supremes star released her first album of original music in more than two decades, ‘Thank You’, in November.
The ‘I’m Coming Out’ hitmaker said in a statement: “This collection of songs is my gift to you with appreciation and love. I am eternally grateful that I had the opportunity to record this glorious music at this time.”
Diana co-wrote her album with a string of famous songwriters, including Jack Antanoff, Amy Wadge, Jimmy Napes, Troy Miller, Freddie Wexler, and Tayla Parx.
As for Tame Impala, Kevin’s working on their fifth studio album, the follow-up to 2020’s ‘The Slow Rush’.

Paolo Nutini announces first English show in 7 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Paolo Nutini has announced his first English show in seven years.
The ‘New Shoes’ hitmaker’s intimate UK comeback tour kicks off on May 14 at Sheffield’s The Leadmill, which has been threatened with eviction by their landlords.
A petition was recently launched to help save the popular venue in South Yorkshire, England – which was hit hard amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
And the Scottish singer-songwriter will show his support at the weekend.
Paolo will then make London’s legendary 100 Club his home between May 16 and May 20, before returning to his homeland for two consecutive shows at Corran Halls in Oban, Scotland, kicking off on May 27.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Tuesday (10.05.22) and are expected to sell out fast.
The 35-year-old star is also set to support Liam Gallagher at Knebworth on June 3, while he has a number of festival appearances this summer, including Glasgow’s TRNSMT and Portsmouth’s Victorious Festival.
Paolo – whose last studio album was 2014’s ‘Caustic Love’ – is known for giving back and previously helped to save a local record store in his hometown of Paisley.
Paolo played to a handful of lucky gig-goers at the store on Causeyside Street in 2017.
He said at the time: “We want to encourage that thing of making the trip to your local record store.
“It’s easy to go on iTunes or Spotify and get a song.
“It’s not like I have a record out that I’m trying to sell. The idea is you buy any music in the shop. You spend a fiver, you get a token. A tenner, you get two. £20 and you get four. Each token is a chance to win.
“I like the idea of rocking up with a kit and a couple of amps and doing it as a four-piece but keeping it electric. We’ll get in, have the chance to say hi and maybe conjure up a couple of surprises too.”

Paolo Nutini’s May UK tour dates:
14 – Sheffield, The Leadmill
16 – London, 100 Club
17 – London, 100 Club

The Irish rockers were invited by President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit the war-torn country amid Russia’s ongoing invasion, and crowds gathered as they played Khreshchatyk station to show their support.
The setlist included 1987’s ‘With or Without You’ and a moving rendition of Ben E King’s ‘Stand By Me’ with Ukrainian singer Taras Topolia, who became a soldier defending her country after Russia’s President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of the neighbouring country on February 24.
They changed the word ‘me’ for ‘Ukraine’ in videos of the performance shared on social media.
Frontman Bono, 61, also shared a message of support with the Ukrainians.
He said: “The people in Ukraine are not just fighting for your own freedom, you are fighting for all of us who love freedom.”
The ‘Vertigo’ hitmaker has faith that the young people of Russia will help put a stop to Putin’s despicable actions.
In an interview with Sky News, he said: “I think that the people in Russia. .. younger people know what’s going on. I trust in the younger people in Russia to throw this man out of his office, that is so high and is so low, right now.”
After blitzing the capital of Kyiv, Putin’s forces have moved on to the east of the country.
Many metro stations have been turned into bomb shelters for Ukrainians to escape the shelling.
U2 are not the only music stars doing their bit to support Ukraine.
Last week, Ed Sheeran released a remix of ‘2step’ featuring Ukrainian band Antytila to raise funds for Music Saves UA.
The 31-year-old megastar joined forces with the band-turned-soldiers after they reached out to ask to collaborate with the Grammy winner on social media.
The remix of the track from Ed’s fifth studio album, ‘=’, comes with a visualiser featuring Antytila, who also directed and produced it.
Over the next 12 months, worldwide record royalties from YouTube streams of the official visualiser, and Warner Music’s proceeds from such streams, will be donated to the non-profit, Music Saves UA, the fundraising project created to provide immediate humanitarian help to Ukrainians caught up in the conflict.
After exchanging messages on social media, it was decided that Antytila would add their own poignant verse, a message of hope, in Ukrainian.
Ed filmed the official video for ‘2step’ featuring Lil Baby in Kyiv, Ukraine last year.
The ‘Bad Habits’ hitmaker is planning more remixes with a host of artists in the coming weeks.

Suki Waterhouse found comfort in music after life in the spotlight

OHMYGOSSIP — Suki Waterhouse turned to music to cope with life in the spotlight.
The model and actress released her debut album ‘I Can’t Let Go’ last month, and she admitted working on the collection was a therapeutic way to “find peace” with the struggles of fame.
She told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “When I first came into contact with reading about myself in that way when I was really young – you know, people saying I was ugly and fat, even worse – it hits you so hard when it first happens.
“But I’ve found peace with it – this living, breathing animal.”
Suki noted even with her position as a household name, she faced some challenges trying to land a record deal.
She said: “There were so many blocks. I knew that to be taken seriously I would have to make the album myself.
“To find a label, I’d have to prove that I was incredibly passionate about it and show them what I could do.”
The AGE-year-old star opens up on the album, including on songs like ‘Bulls*** On The Internet’ and ‘Melrose Meltdown’.
For the former, she explained: “Obviously, now, there’s a very common thing where you’re going to tell the public about everything that’s ever happened to you and share every way you were wronged, all that kind of stuff.
“But that never appealed to me. I feel like saying anything online is making yourself a puddle to kick – it’s fun for them.”
And she also touched on a previously break-up in ‘Melrose Meltdown’ singing about watching a former flame “work the room” and “hoping one day we’re married”.
Reflecting on the story behind the track, she said: “I was in the middle of a breakup, in the middle of the Oscars, running away from security covered in diamonds.”
