OHMYGOSSIP — Mick Jagger “misses” working with Charlie Watts
The 78-year-old music legend shot to fame alongside the late Charlie – who died back in 2021 at the age of 80 – as part of rock band The Rolling Stones and admitted that he still thinks about his former co-star almost a year after his passing.
He said: “I don’t really expect him to be there any more if I turn round during a show. But I do think about him. Not only during rehearsals or on stage, but in other ways too. I would have phoned him up and talked about last night’s Arsenal game because he supported Tottenham and I’m Arsenal. I miss him as a player and as a friend.”
The ‘Brown Sugar’ rocker – who continues to tour with his iconic rock band alongside Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood – added that when he thinks about his former bandmate, he remembers him as “the last one down” when the hitmakers would take their final bow after a concert.
He told The Times: “In the show, when we come to the front and bow at the end, there’s no Charlie. He’d always be the last one down. I’d go: ‘Come on, what have you got to do?’ He’d be fiddling with his sticks because he always had to have them in a row before he’d get off the seat..”
Meanwhile, the music legend added that in terms of the band they have “matured” over the course of their career as they celebrate 60 years in music.
He said: “[We are] getting more mature. I’m not joking. It’s true, and it’s taken a long time. We’re in a very immature business. I’m under no illusions about that. But it doesn’t mean that you have to be immature.”

OHMYGOSSIP — She and Him’s Zooey Deschanel says the duo never imagined Brian Wilson duetting with them on their ‘Do It Again’ cover.
The ‘Almost Famous’ actress and musical partner M. Ward’s new record, titled ‘Melt Away: A Tribute to Brian Wilson’, features 14 cover songs infused with their own distinctive style.
But for their rendition of The Beach Boys’ 1968 hit, they couldn’t quite get the vocals right, so they asked the group’s founding member, Brian – who they’d worked with before – if he’d be up for helping them out.
In an interview with Vulture, Zooey said: “It’s funny — our plan was always for it to be a tribute to Brian. But I don’t think we thought that we should ask Brian to be on one of the tracks. We thought this will be something that we’ll send him that hopefully he’ll like.
“But then ‘Do It Again’, I’ve always loved that song. But I was like, I can’t sing this one very well, and Matt was like, Well I can’t sing this one very well. We were both unsure of our own ability to do that song. It’s got a percussive vocal top-line melody.
“It’s so Beach Boys that it’s hard to pivot from how the original was done. So we were thinking we’d ask a guest to be on it.
“And I was like, Why don’t we just ask Brian? We’ve gotten to work with him and interact with him so much, and he has a really cool team around him, too. All the folks that he collaborates with are amazing.”
The ‘Elf’ star added: “Being such a fan for so long, somehow, this passion brought us into his orbit to some degree, which is such a blessing.”
Brian, 79 – who is widely recognised as one of the most significant songwriters of his generation – is a big fan of She and Him’s new album.
The acclaimed musician described the harmonies as “beautiful” and admitted to loving the new record.
He said: “Zooey and Matt did such mind-blowing versions of our songs. The harmonies are beautiful and right on. I love this record!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny McDaid has compared writing songs with Ed Sheeran to “having a kid.”
The 45-year-old musician – who is known as member of the band Snow Patrol – has teamed up with global pop star Ed, 31, to pen hits such as ‘Shape Of You’, ‘Shivers’ and the pair received the Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Song for ‘Bad Habits’.
However, Ed was “gutted” that he couldn’t attend the ceremony in person to collect the award after he and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed their second daughter on Thursday (22.05.22).
Johnny told The Daily Star newspaper: “I’m going to get this statue up to him. I’m going up to see him at the weekend. He can’t be here, he’s got a very important family thing back at home at the moment. I was talking to him this morning and he was really sad he couldn’t be there because this one is really important to him and he wants the Ivors to know that.
“[Working with Ed] is like having a kid. I conceive it with Ed and he goes off and raises the child so all the work is on him.”
Johnny – who has been in a relationship with former ‘Friends’ star Courteney Cox whilst Ed is married to childhood friend Cherry and also has two-year-old Lyra with her – added that his friend and co-writer “works his a**” off on the song and that the pair have a “unique” method of communication that allows them to pen so many hits.
He added: “He works his a** off on it, tours the world, brings in people otherwise you wouldn’t hear them. We have a unqiue way of communicating that is based on trust. His availability to ideas is like nothing I’ve ever seen in anybody else ever.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kurt Cobain’s “favourite” guitar has been sold for $4.5million.
The music legend – who was lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the rock band Nirvana but took his own life back in 1994 at the age of 27 – famously used the blue 1969 Fender Mustang electric guitar in the video for his band’s hit ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ back in 1991 and it was sold for a $4,550,000 ( £3,448,422.25) at Julien’s Auctions in New York on Sunday (22.05.22) to the Jim Irsay Collection.
In a statement, Jim – who is in charge of the the Indiana-based pop culture collection – told Rolling Stone: “I am thrilled to preserve and protect another piece of American culture that changed the way we looked at world. The fact that a portion of the proceeds will go toward our effort to kick the stigma surrounding mental health makes this acquisition even more special to me.”
The iconic guitar – which is described as being Lake Placid Blue in colour and was the tragic rocker’s “favourite” instrument – was initially owned by the Cobain family and was displayed as part Jim Irsay’s extensive collection of rock memorabilia before the collector was able to take full ownership of by purchasing it at the auction.
The Cobain family will reportedly donate a portion of the sale to the NFL team’s Kicking The Stigma mental health awareness campaign and according to the auction website, the guitar still “sounds great” over 30 years after it was first used.
A description reads: “Guitar sounds and plays great. There are wiring issues however with the slide switches in particular. Only the bridge pickup functions. In good condition. The neck is lovely and the early CBS finish is still intact, feeling old and new at once. While it has some scars from wild shows and being bashed, the front of the guitar looks good with a couple of small marks and only the lower ribs showing real damage. Some finish worn off back of body from play. Case in good condition with some tears.”
Back in 1991, Kurt said: “But out of all the guitars in the whole world, the Fender Mustang is my favourite. I’ve only owned two of them.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Evanescence have announced the departure of longtime guitarist Jen Majura.
The Amy Lee-fronted rock band have decided to part ways with the 38-year-old German musician, who had been with the ‘My Immortal’ band since 2015, declaring it the end of a “very special chapter” in the history of the group.
In a social media statement, they wrote: “It has been a very special chapter in the band with our dear friend Jen Majura, but we have decided it’s time to go our separate ways.
“We will always love her and support her, and can’t wait to see what she does next! We are so grateful for the good times and great music we made all around the world together.”
Jen has claimed it was not her decision to leave Evanescence, but insisted there are “no hard feelings” or animosity between her and the rest of the band.
She tweeted: “I feel the need to address that none of this was my decision!
“I have no hard feelings against anybody and I wish Evanescence all the best. I am allowed to carry beautiful memories of these past years, I am grateful.”
Jen replaced Terry Balsamo as guitarist, the replacement of original member Ben Moody, who quit back in 2003.
Meanwhile, after several COVID-19 delays, the ‘Wasted On You’ rockers’ joint ‘Worlds Collide’ tour with Within Temptation, which was originally set for 2020, will finally take place in November.

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend has announced a special gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall on April 5, 2023.
The ‘All of Me’ hitmaker is gearing up for the release of his eighth studio album – the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Bigger Love’ – which is due out later this year, and he’s announced the one-off concert at the legendary venue next spring to showcase some of the new songs.
Last week, fans got to hear the first single from the forthcoming LP, ‘Dope’, featuring JID.
John recently hailed the 31-year-old rapper – whose real name is Destin Choice Route – a “gifted lyricist” who nailed his part.
Speaking to Eddie Francis on Apple Music 1, John said: “He’s incredible, he’s such a gifted lyricist. He’s got such great charisma and great energy and we were looking for the perfect artist to join with me on this record. We were just listening to his body of work and thinking of what we could do on the track. We sent it to him and he loved the track and wanted to get on it and man… he murdered it.”
The star-studded collection also features the likes of Jhené Aiko, Ty Dolla $ign, Jazmine Sullivan, and Rick Ross.
The 43-year-old singer added: “And then you look at the album, we got people like Jhené Aiko, we got Ty Dolla $ign, we got Jazmine Sullivan, we got Rick Ross, we’ve got Rapsody, we’ve got just some incredible people and I’m excited for y’all to hear everything. Muni Long on the album. Just really talented people.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo thanked her fans for “forever” changing her life on the first anniversary of the release of her record-breaking debut album, ‘SOUR’.
Released on May 21, 2021, the ‘Good 4 U’ hitmaker’s LP broke a world record for the biggest opening week for an album by a female artist in Spotify history.
And looking back on a whirlwind year, the 19-year-old pop megastar admitted she is eternally “grateful” to those who made it possible.
She wrote on Instagram: “my first album SOUR came out a year ago today. it is impossible for me to sum up in words how much this album means to me and how grateful I am to have gotten the privilege to make it and watch it exist in the world. thank u @dan_nigro for making it with me and believing in me more than anyone. and thank u to everyone who has embraced my 17 year old lamentations and forever changed my life in the process. (sic)”
The ‘Deja Vu’ singer recently admitted she has “grown so much” since releasing ‘SOUR’.
Olivia feels like she’s become a much more confident person because of everything she’s experienced over the last 12 months.
She shared: “The process of making ‘SOUR’, and putting it out in the world really challenged me, and I’ve grown so much, and I’ve learned so much more about myself.
“I definitely feel like I am a more confident person today because of it.”
Olivia still considers herself to be a “hopeless romantic”.
But the chart-topping star admits to being a different person now compared to when she wrote her first record.
She explained: “I felt definitely differently about love when I wrote ‘SOUR’ versus now. I think when you’re going through a heartbreak like that, you can get really disillusioned with the concepts of relationships.
“But now I’m at a place where I’m so happy that I went through all of that, and have so much love for all of these people that I’ve been in relationships with. And so nice that I got to write songs to help me get through it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has branded Oasis better than The Beatles in a Twitter spat with retired footballer Jamie Carragher.
The Britpop group’s former frontman got into a war of words with the Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender after his team Man City beat Aston Villa to claim their sixth Premier League title at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (22.05.22).
Things quickly escalated when the outspoken rocker and avid City supporter called Carragher a “b*** end”.
He then proceeded to brand Oasis “s****” compared to the Liverpool legends.
Scouser Carragher, 44, responded: “I’m saying you’ll never win the Champions league Oasis are s**** compared to the Beatles. That work?? (sic)”
Liam, 49, then hit back and said that despite being a massive Beatles fan himself, even naming his son Lennon after the ‘Let It Be’ group’s late frontman John Lennon, he believes his group are the better band because they played a sold-out Knebworth twice in 1996.
The ‘Wonderwall singer replied: “Eh carra you got s*** banter for a scouser f****** hell la you been hanging out with Neville too long oasis p*** all over the Beatles how many times did they do knebworth (sic)”
Both Liam and his estranged brother and former bandmate Noel, 54, have publicly stated what a huge influence The Fab Four were on their own music.
However, Noel recently insisted the constant comparisons were unjustified because The Beatles – which were also comprised of Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Ringo Starr and the late George Harrison – were so much better than Oasis.
He said: “When Oasis started, we were so big we were compared to them size-wise and musically, embarrassingly, compared to them as well.
“(It’s embarrassing) because we weren’t as good as them.”

The 32-year-old rapper – whose real name is Casyo Johnson – has teamed up with co-parent, mumtrepreneur and influencer Sasha Ellese Gilbert to create the line named after their baby daughter, Nala, and inspired by her struggles with eczema.

The ‘As It Was’ hitmaker’s third solo album has broken the record for the most first-day Alexa album requests for a male artist in Amazon Music history, while it’s also smashed the record for the most first-day Alexa album requests so far this year.
Within just the first two hours of its release on Friday (20.05.22), the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Fine Line’ had earned the most first-day streams for a pop album released in 2022 on Apple Music, toppling Kendrick Lamar’s record for ‘Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers’.
In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the 28-year-old singer explained how the album gives fans the chance to spend “a day in my mind”.
Harry explained: “When I took that title, put it to the songs we were making, it felt like it took on this whole new meaning and it was about, imagine it’s a day in my house. What do I go through? A day in my mind, what do I go through in my house?
“I’m playing fun music. I’m playing sad music. I’m playing this, I’m playing that. Feeling stuff. Kind of like a day in the life. I like all of that stuff. OHMYGOSSIP — Yes drummer Alan White has pulled out of the band’s 50th anniversary ‘Close To The Edge’ UK and Ireland tour.
The 72-year-old sticksman – who played the drums on John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ – has been forced to miss the upcoming run to mark five decades of the seminal progressive rock band, which will seem play songs from their 1972 album, due to illness.
He will be replaced by his friend Jay Schellen, who has been a stand-in for Alan on several occasions, for the run, which kicks off in Glasgow, Scotland on June 15, and wraps on June 29 in Cork, Ireland.
The band’s management said in a statement issued to press: “Alan was really looking forward to playing live again preparing to celebrate 50 years with Yes, having joined the band for the July 1972 Close To The Edge Tour, coming full circle in 2022. Alan’s close friend Jay Schellen will be taking on drumming duties in Alan’s place.”
Jay played with Yes on their 2016 North American tour when Alan was recovering from back surgery.
When he was feeling fitter, Alan played alongside Jay.
He also stepped in for ‘Cruise To The Edge’ after Alan came down with a bacterial infection.
As well as playing live with Yes, Jay is also featured on 2019’s ‘Yes 50 Live’ LP, plus ‘The Royal Affair Tour: Live from Las Vegas’, and their 2021 studio album ‘The Quest’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Suede are set to release their new album on September 16.
The rock band recorded ‘Autofiction’ – their ninth studio album – at Konk studios in North London with the help of long-time Suede collaborator Ed Buller.
Brett Anderson – who stars in the group alongside Mat Osman, Simon Gilbert, Richard Oakes and Neil Codling – said: “‘Autofiction’ is our punk record. No whistles and bells. Just the five of us in a room with all the glitches and f***-ups revealed; the band themselves exposed in all their primal mess.”
Suede made a concerted effort to go back to basics during the recording process for their new album. The band wanted to recapture the sound of their formative years.
Brett said: “‘Autofiction’ has a natural freshness, it’s where we want to be.”
Similarly, Mat relished the experience of recording the new album.
He explained: “When we were rehearsing and writing this record it was this sheer, physical rush. That thing where you’re hanging on for dear life.”
The album is officially released in September, but it’s already available to pre-order.
The band have also announced two special intimate shows at London’s Electric Ballroom in October. Tickets for the shows will go on sale on May 27 via suede.co.uk. However, a fan pre-sale will begin on May 26.
Meanwhile, Brett previously claimed that Suede have always been “outsiders” in the music business.
He reflected: “We always wanted to be a band that inspired loyalty. And we were always outsiders. Because I didn’t ever feel like my family fitted in.
“We were incredibly poor and we lived on a council estate, but mum was an artist, my dad was into classical music, we had a piano in the kitchen. I didn’t fit in with the people on the estate, and I went to a comprehensive, and I didn’t fit in there, so I didn’t ever have a tribe.
“I was always looking to manufacture my own tribe, really.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have announced a huge world tour for 2023.
The ‘Born To Run’ legend and his iconic band will hit the road with an arena tour in February across the United States, followed by a run of stadium shows starting in Europe in April.
In a statement, the Boss said: “After six years, I’m looking forward to seeing our great and loyal fans next year.
“And I’m looking forward to once again sharing the stage with the legendary E Street Band. See you out there, next year — and beyond.”
Specific dates for the US arena shows are yet to be confirmed, while the European leg kicks off on April 28 in Barcelona, with other stops already announced for cities like Dublin, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Oslo, Copenhagen and Munich.
It’s said that location for shows in the UK and Belgium will be revealed at a later date.
In August 2023, the band will then return for another North American tour.
The tour will mark Bruce and the E Street Band’s first gigs together since the end of the ‘River’ tour in Australia in February 2017.
Since then, Springsteen has brought out 2019 album ‘Western Stars’ and 2020’s ‘Letter To You’, while he also returned to his ‘Springsteen on Broadway’ show and launched the ‘Renegades: Born in the USA’ podcast with Barack Obama.
The break in touring marks the longest for the E Street Band since they reformed in 1999.
While they haven’t toured since early 2017, their only public performance in recent years came in December 2020 when the group played on ‘Saturday Night Live’, but musicians Garry Tallent and Soozie Tryell missed it due to COVID-19 restrictions.
They were originally set to hit the road in 2022, with a show even advertised for June at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany.
No official reason has been given for the dates being postponed.

OHMYGOSSIP — Hanson decided to “break it up” for their new album ‘Red Green Blue’.
The ‘MMMBop’ band’s new album – which marks 30 years of the group and the 25th anniversary of their classic breakthrough hit – saw brothers Taylor, Isaac and Zac changed tact, with each third serving as a solo-led project for each respective sibling.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, Taylor explained: “We’ve always been focused on that united voice. This is an idea Issac had for a long time.
“He said, ‘What if we were to break it up in this way and so each guy took five songs, said I’m gonna write and produce and build one another in?’ ”
He reassured fans it’s still very much a band record, but they found “another way” to embrace each of the trio as individual musicians.
He explained: “Ultimately, it’s still a Hanson record. It’s just another way to focus on the fact that this is a band of three writers, three players and three singers.”
Isaac added: “I think for a lot of people this is a way to kind of discover things that you don’t know about what we do, and get a fresh look at who we are as a band, who we are as artists and who we are as individuals.”
For Zac, he pointed out how the lifetime of being in a group means sometimes they need to find a way to “grow and change”.
He said: “You have to grow and change, right? As you go through 25 years of life. We started when I was six. I’m 36 right now. Things are very different.”
With ‘MMMBop’ hitting the airwaves in 1997, it’s been “a lifetime” for the brothers.
Taylor added: “I mean, it’s a lifetime. We started with nothing but the voice, and that’s how we walked onstage 30 years ago…
“I think in the end, taking it back to that, taking it back to the song, talk about brothers and family singing together, you really can’t replicate that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Eagles have added Cam, Morgan Wade and more to the lineup for American Express presents BST Hyde Park.
The ‘Hotel California’ legends are headlining iconic London landmark to celebrate their 50th anniversary, and they’ve announced more names for the exciting support bill.
Singer songwriter Cam joins breakout star Morgan Wade, newcomer Patrick Droney and London group The Wandering Hearts.
The band said: “We are absolutely beside ourselves to be included in this line up. The Eagles have been a huge influence on us growing up and especially as a vocal harmony group.
“The same must be said for Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, in fact we have huge amounts of admiration and respect for all the artists on this year’s line up, many of whom have been firm favourites of the band for years!”
Plant and Krauss were previously announced alongside Little Big Town.
The latter previously tweeted: “We’ve been DYING to share this news.
“What a bucket list dream come true. We’re headed to Europe, including HYDE PARK, with The Eagles!!!! (sic)”
The Eagles will kick off their tour in the Netherlands with a show at Arnhem’s Gelredome Stadium on June 17.
Three days later, they’ll be in the UK for shows at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium (June 20), BT Murrafield Stadium in Edinburgh (June 22) before moving onto Ireland with a gig at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium (June 24)
BST Hyde Park is returning in a big way in 2022, with Adele previously announced to be returning to her homeland for the summer festival with shows on July 1 and July 2, 2022, while fans broke her website as they scrambled to nab tickets.
Sir Elton John, Pearl Jam, and Duran Duran are also set to play the outdoor event.

The former One Direction singer is playing the iconic London venue on Tuesday night (24.05.22) but his admirers were told they wouldn’t be able to camp out to try and land a spot at the front of the crowd.
A sign outside the venue read: “Queueing for the Harry Styles show is strictly prohibited until 8am on Tuesday, May 24.”
Over the weekend, the venue explained the rule was down to other concerts “on the preceding nights”.
The team tweeted: “IMPORTANT NOTICE
“If you’re lucky enough to have tickets to @Harry_Styles, we’re as excited about this show as anyone but we have other gigs on the preceding nights so we must stress that you won’t be able to queue for it until 8am on Tue 24 May.
“Thank you for understanding.”
The ‘As It Was’ hitmaker dropped his third solo album ‘Harry’s House’ on Friday (20.05.22) and he’s playing the one-off Brixton gig to celebrate the release.
The record is currently leading the charge to top the charts this week, and the LP has broken further records on Amazon Music.
The collection already smashed the record for the most first-day Alexa album requests for a male artist in Amazon Music history, while it’s also had the most first-day Alexa album requests so far this year.
In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the 28-year-old star explained how the album gives fans the chance to spend “a day in my mind”.
Harry explained: “When I took that title, put it to the songs we were making, it felt like it took on this whole new meaning and it was about, imagine it’s a day in my house. What do I go through? A day in my mind, what do I go through in my house?
“I’m playing fun music. I’m playing sad music. I’m playing this, I’m playing that. Feeling stuff. Kind of like a day in the life. I like all of that stuff.
“And I think while it obviously is a lot more electronic in a lot of places than anything I’ve made, it’s also so much more intimate to me. And so much more intimately made.”
