OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John has extended his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour’, adding more dates in Australia and New Zealand.
The ‘Tiny Dancer’ hitmaker was unable to perform his planned shows Down Under in 2020, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, he’s now more than made it up to fans by announcing rescheduled shows and a few extra dates for January 2023.
In a social media statement, Elton said: “In 2020 I promised that when I came back to finish my interrupted farewell, I’d perform some encore shows.
“I love your part of the world dearly and cannot wait to share these concerts with you!”
The run will see the 75-year-old music legend play Newcastle, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in Australia and Christchurch in New Zealand in January 2023.
Elton recently paid tribute to his loyal fans and thanked them for their “kindness” as he prepares to retire from touring.
The ‘Cold Heart’ singer has decided to give up life on the road from next year and he stopped his show in Norwich, England last month to offer a sweet tribute to all of his followers who have supported him over the years.
He told the crowd at the Carrow Road football stadium: “Tonight is the 229th show on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, we have about 103 shows to do. It’s been quite a journey and it all ends next July.
“But I want to thank you because I won’t be playing here again. I want to thank you for all the memories, all the love you’ve sent me, all the loyalty, the kindness, the letters, the dressing up, the costumes, the multiple shows you’ve been to.”
The ‘Rocket Man’ singer added: “It means the world to me and I will never forget you guys.”
The show marked the opening night of the UK leg of Elton’s farewell tour and he told the audience he will be able to tell his two sons, Zachary, 11, and nine-year-old Elijah, about the experience in his later years.
Elton said: “I will take you with me in my heart, in my soul and I can tell my boys all about you when I get old and decrepit. I love you.”
The final tour was announced back in 2018 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and injury. The shows are now due to run until mid-2023 when the singer will take a step back to spend more time with husband David Furnish and their two boys.
The global jaunt continues on July 23 at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.

OHMYGOSSIP — Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa have announced their own festival.
The Black Star Line Festival is heading to Ghana’s Black Star Square in the capital city of Accra on January 6, 2023.
The aim of the event is to bring “black people of the diaspora and the globe” together as one.
Vic, 29, said: “Everything we’re doing is with the goal of uniting and building a bridge between black people of the diaspora and the globe, with the continent.
“And Ghana is the gateway to all of that.”
A line-up is yet to be announced.
Black Line shares a name with political activist Marcus Garvey’s old shipping firm, which was founded to “facilitate the transportation of goods and eventually African Americans throughout the African global economy.”
Away from music, Chance is known for his social activism in his home city of Chicago.
His father, Ken Williams-Bennett, was an aide to former Illinois Senator and 44th President of the United States Barack Obama.
And the 29-year-old hip-hop star – whose real name is Chancelor Johnathan Bennett – previously admitted his dad disapproved of his career choice at first.
The Grammy winner was known as the rapper of his family from a very young age, but when he decided to pursue music as a career, there was some “friction” between Chance and his parent.
Speaking 2020, he said: “The first rap I wrote was a song called ‘The Black Definition’ and I do not want to rap it right now.”
Asked by the host if everyone was supportive of him being a rapper growing up, he said: “I don’t know if they were supportive of it but it was understood.
“It was a thing that people knew that I rapped since I was a kid.
“It was a thing I was into and I moved my hands and stuff.”
However, after a period of separation, Ken realised just how serious Chance was about his music and he continues to school him on the business side of things to this day.
The superstar – who has daughters Kensli, six, and two-year-old Marli with his wife Kirsten Corley – added: “My dad actually, right when I got out of high school, as parents do when their kids graduate from high school and they don’t go to college or get a job, It’s kind of like a friction thing.
“But after we separated for a while, we got back together and he really helped guide me in terms of the amount of work and focus that I needed to work on it for the business side.
“And he still doing it to this day.
“But in the beginning my dad did not want me to be a rapper.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson is “immensely proud” of One Direction.
The band – which featured Louis, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Harry Styles – went on indefinite hiatus in 2015 and while Louis has moved on to have a successful solo career, he loves reminiscing on his time in 1D.
Speaking on Australia’s ‘The Project’, Louis said: “I’m more than happy to talk about it in every interview. It’s something I’m immensely proud of.
“I’m immensely proud [of One Direction]. I’m immensely proud of those days, obviously. I mean, it was an incredible thing to do at such a young age. I’ve had amazing memories.”
Meanwhile, Louis, 30, has registered four new songs for his second solo album.
The singer has been hard at work on his follow-up to 2020’s ‘Walls’, and has co-written a number of tracks with former ‘Fame Academy’ winner David Sneddon and Hurts’ Theo David Hutchcraft.
According to listings on PRS and ASCAP, the songs are: ‘Silver Tongues’, ‘Pre-tender’, ‘Saturdays’ and ‘She Is Beauty, We Are World Class’.
There is still no official release date or title for the LP, though it has been claimed it could arrive before the end of the year.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column in February: “Louis has been working really hard and the music sounds great. So far, about half to three-quarters of the album is done. Hopefully it will be out by the end of the year, but Louis is keen not to rush things for the sake of it.
“Fans will genuinely love what he’s come up with. It’s his best work yet.”
Louis previously admitted that some songs on his first album were “truer to [him] than others” and with album two he wants to ensure he’s “owned” everything he’s trying to say.
He explained: “I’m very, very excited. I had basically pencilled down a plan before COVID took over our lives. And now it’s kind of given me a little bit of time to really get into what I want to say and what I want things to sound like. Because, you know, I was really proud of my first record, but there were moments that I felt were truer to me than others. I think that there were some songs where I took slightly more risk and owned what I love, saying, ‘This is who I want to be’. So I want to take a leaf out of their book.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Pearl Jam were forced to cancel a gig in Vienna on Wednesday (20.07.22) after singer Eddie Vedder suffered throat damage.
The ‘Jeremy’ hitmakers acknowledged the “horrible timing” of pulling the plug on a gig hours before the band were due to perform but insisted there was no other solution because the 57-year-old frontman hadn’t fully recovered from the problems caused by the “extreme circumstances” of playing an outdoor gig in France at a time where the hot weather had sparked a series of fires.
They said in a lengthy statement shared to their social media channels: “To all those who were anticipating a great Pearl Jam show tonight in Vienna, we were too. However, due to the extreme circumstances at the last outdoor site outside of Paris (heat, dust, and smoke from the fires) our singer Ed Vedder’s throat was left damaged. He has seen doctors and had treatment but as of yet, his vocal cords have not recovered.
“This is brutal news and horrible timing…for everyone involved.
“Those who work so hard to put on the shows as well as those who give their precious time and energies to attend….
“As a band, we are deeply sorry and have tried to find options to still play. And Ed wants to play. There’s just no throat available at this time…
“So very, very deeply sorry.”
It seems the gig will not be rescheduled as fans are to be offered refunds.
The statement continued: “Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.
“Thank you for understanding.

The group’s next date on their current European tour is in Prague on Friday (22.07.22) but there hasn’t yet been an announcement as to whether or not the show is still going ahead.

OHMYGOSSIP — James Blunt is set to star in a new BBC documentary hailed as ‘Spinal Tap’ meets Alan Partridge.
The ‘You’re Beautiful’ hitmaker, 48, has teamed up with Lorton Entertainment – the production company behind the hit Bros doc ‘Bros: After The Screaming Stops’ and Oasis ‘Supersonic’ film – on the upcoming feature inspired by the 1984 American mockumentary ‘This Is Spinal Tap’, a satire about the heavy metal legends’ antics on the road.
James was joined by a film crew on his ‘2022 Greatest Hit Tour’, and the doc will explore the singer-songwriter’s fascinating trajectory from reconnaissance officer in the Life Guards regiment of the British Army to a chart-topping pop star of the noughties.
The synopsis reads: “This the story of an ageing, British pop star, still fighting for relevance some seventeen years after his star momentarily twinkled. No one has a more extraordinary story than James Blunt. The soldier turned singer has one of the most inspiring trajectories in the history of music.
“Filmed on the road during his 2022 aptly named Greatest Hit Tour, director Chris Atkins is given access all areas following James Blunt across Europe. Delving into James’ unique backstory, from witnessing the genocide of the Kosovo War, recording the biggest selling album of the noughties, enduring the harsh backlash that followed his meteoric success, and then tweeting his way back to becoming a national treasure, this is an intimate portrait of James Blunt, as never seen before.

The ever-hilarious musician – who loves to poke fun at trolls on Twitter – commented: “In hindsight, I’m not sure letting them film this was a good idea.”
After bidding farewell to his military career, James rose to fame in 2004 with the release of his acclaimed debut album ‘Back to Bedlam’, which catapulted him to global stardom with hit singles ‘You’re Beautiful’ and ‘Goodbye My Lover’.
That album alone sold more than 11 million copies worldwide, topping the UK Albums Chart and peaking at number two in the US.
At the time of writing, a release date for the documentary is not known.

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyoncé has shared the 16-song track-listing for her eagerly-awaited comeback album ‘Renaissance’.
After dropping the lead single, house mega-hit ‘Break My Soul’, and teasing the striking album artwork, the 40-year-old Grammy winner has unveiled the songs on her follow-up to 2016’s ‘Lemonade’.
The songs, including, ‘America Has a Problem’, ‘Alien Superstar’, ‘Church Girl’, ‘Cuff It’, ‘Thique’ and ‘All Up in Your Mind’, were revealed in a moving clip on social media with a countdown to the release date of July 29.
Beyoncé recently teased her new music is made for people to “wiggle” to.
The ‘Love On Top’ hitmaker explained how working on the record became a place for her to “escape during a scary time for the world” amid the global pandemic.
Sharing the cover of her sat on a holographic horse wearing very little, she wrote on Instagram: “Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world.
“It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving.
“My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.”
‘Break My Soul’ samples Robin S. house hit ‘Show Me Love’ and Big Freedia’s ‘Explode’.
She added: “I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
The ‘Halo’ hitmaker is on the cover of British Vogue’s July issue, and the publication’s editor-in-chief Edward Enninful teased what’s to come from the superstar.

OHMYGOSSIP — Perrie Edwards is working with Ed Sheeran’s co-writer and producer Steve Mac on her solo music.
The Little Mix star has been in the studio with the ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker – who has contributed to 30 number one singles in the UK – and regular Little Mix co-writer KAMILLE.
Steve also produced Perrie and her bandmates’ 2018 hit ‘Woman Like Me’.
And it looks like they could have a future hit on their hands.
Alongside an Instagram Story video from the studio, KAMILLE teased in the caption: “Crying. This sounds. So. good.”
The chart-topping girl group went on hiatus in May after a decade together.
All are focusing on solo ventures, with Leigh-Anne Pinnock telling fans on her new Twitter account that she doesn’t want to rush her solo music.
She wrote: “I’m 100 per cent not rushing anything!
“It has to be perfect, very excited though.”
In February, it was announced that Leigh-Anne had signed her first solo record deal with major label Warner Records and will be represented by Tap Music.
Recently, Leigh-Anne has been in the studio with ‘Secrets’ singer RAYE.
She gushed: “@raye you are a FORCEEEE. Your talent is so fricken inspiring. (sic)”
The teaser of the pair working together came after Leigh-Anne was the victim of a leak after her debut solo single, ‘I Need You’, circulated online. Warner Music swiftly had links to the recording taken down.
The ‘Shout Out to My Ex’ hitmakers promised fans their hiatus does not spell the end of the girl group.
The group – who became a trio in December 2020, when Jesy Nelson quit the band – might be doing their own things over the next few years, but they have vowed to carefully align their schedules so there is no chance of them facing each other in the charts.
Perrie said: “We’ve all said we will let each other know when we’re going to release so we don’t end up clashing in the charts. We’re rooting for each other, not competing against each other.”
Jade – who inked a deal with Sony’s RCA Records and joined Harry Styles’ management – added: “It’s just not going to happen. There will be a conscious effort from all of us to make sure of that.”
Leigh-Anne said: “We are so close and that’s the thing. We’re all going to be in communication about this the whole time.”
On already wanting to get back together before they go their separate ways, Perrie said: “Honestly, we haven’t even parted ways yet and we’re already talking about when we’re coming back! We’re like: ‘is two years away enough? Two and a bit years?'”
Jade agreed that while the change is necessary, they have such a strong bond and have every intention of working together in the future.

The pop star – whose real name is Olivia Rebecca Devine – has applauded the 32-year-old Years and Years star for pushing boundaries with his risqué performances and giving the gays exactly what they want.
In an interview for Cosmopolitan UK digital – of which she is a cover star alongside Becky Hill and Joy Crookes – Devine said: “We opened up for Years and Years in Manchester and that was 100% like the biggest show I’ve ever played. I imagine that the majority of that crowd were part of the LGBTQ+ community so that meant a lot to me. You could feel so much love and positivity in the room. Everyone seemed super touched by the emotional songs, but then so up for a party at the same time. It’s not like a family-friendly show but that’s exactly why I love it. Olly Alexander put on the show that’s a way more accurate representation of a show that gay people want to see, rather than what people think gay people want to see.”
For her own performances, the 25-year-old star – who has co-written songs for the likes of Icona Pop and Rudimental – loves to use her stage outfits to express herself.
She said of her style: “For me, it’s all about finding details and having things that are personality-led. Being able to tell someone who I am through what I wear. So I love graphic tees that can just tell you what film and band I’m into. I love humour in clothes as well.”

OHMYGOSSIP — FKA twigs, Dave and Wet Leg are among the most-nominated artists at The AIM Independent Music Awards 2022.
The ceremony celebrating the hottest independent acts the UK has to offer returns on September 28 at London’s Roundhouse in Camden, and the ‘Killer’ singer and rap superstar Dave have scored two nods apiece.
Both stars will go head-to-head for Best Independent Track in association with Meta.
Twigs’ ‘tears in the club’ featuring The Weeknd, Dave’s ‘Starlight’ and indie duo Wet Leg’s ‘Chaise Longue’ will go up against the likes of Nova Twins’ ‘Antagonist’, Yves Tumor’s ‘Jackie’ and Wu-Lu’s ‘Broken Home’ for the prize.
Twigs, 34, is also nominated for Best Independent EP/Mixtape – a brand new category – for ‘CAPRISONGS’, while Dave’s ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’ is shortlisted for Best Independent Album in association with Spotify.
Twigs previously won Independent Track of the Year for 2014’s ‘Two Weeks’, while in 2020, ‘Magdalene’ was named Best Second Album.
Wet Leg – comprising Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers – will fend off Nova Twins, Knucks, Children of Zeus and Warmduscher to be crowned the top UK Independent Breakthrough act.
The Ones to Watch for 2023 are Barry Can’t Swim, Jeshi, Léa Sen, Nia Archives and TAAHLIAH.

Arlo Parks was the big winner at last year’s ceremony.

The ‘Let Them Know’ singer released her second studio album ‘About Last Night…’ last week, and on the same day, she hosted the ‘Mabel And Friends’ livestream on Twitch.
The pop star has also joined forces with Amazon Music to take her fans on a visual journey inside her latest LP.
A press release states: “The video will see Mabel take viewers on a visual journey of her new album, moving through different rooms and experiences with each new track. Viewers will also see Mabel perform tracks from her new album.”
Mabel recently explained how important it was for ‘About Last Night…’ – the follow-up to 2019’s ‘High Expectations’, which features the likes of Jax Jones, Galantis, 24k Goldn and Lil Tecca – to depict “the real” her.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, she said: “With my new album, the most important thing is that people get to know the real me.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Don’t Call Me Up’ hitmaker is eyeing an acting career after getting a taste for it in her recent music videos.
She said: “I would love to. Doing it in these videos was the first time I’d ever tried.
“I’ve really enjoyed it and I would love to learn properly and do something.
“Right now it’s all about my music and I still have big goals for what I want to do musically. I want to be a global artist and making more tunes will always be my first love.
“But I would absolutely love to act at some point.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift returned to the stage “after a very long time” to perform with Haim at The O2 on Thursday night (21.07.22).
The pop megastar sent fans into a frenzy as she joined her pals in the sister trio – Danielle, Este and Alana Haim – at their sold-out concert at the London arena to duet on a ‘Gasoline’ and ‘Love Story’ mash-up.
Before the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker came out, Alana teased: “Wait, you guys. We’re in London, we can’t play London without bringing out a special guest.
“Because not only is this person that I’m about to bring out the most incredible singer, songwriter, producer, f***** amazing person all around, she’s one of our close friends.”
Taylor, whose appearance was met with roaring applause from the 20,000 gig-goers, said: “When I heard my girls were playing in London at the O2, I thought, I’m going to have to see that. And it looks like there’s about 20,000 other people who also thought that.
“So we had a thought. If we were to do some sort of mash-up, we could possibly maybe get you to sing the loudest you have sung all night.
“Which is a big challenge because you have been singing very loudly – extraordinary work.”
The foursome then performed a viral TikTok mix of Haim’s single, which Taylor jumped on for a 2021 expanded edition of their LP ‘Women in Music Pt. III’, and her 2008 hit.
Haim also previously teamed up with the 32-year-old Grammy-winner on the track ‘No Body, No Crime’ on her 2020 album ‘evermore’.
Meanwhile, Taylor released the new song ‘Carolina’ last month.
The track is featured in the movie version of ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ – the 2018 murder mystery novel by American author Delia Owens.
The flick stars ‘Normal People’ actress Daisy Edgar-Jones, and is produced by actress Reese Witherspoon.
The ‘You Belong With Me’ singer wrote the track “alone” in a bid to authentically channel the “loneliness and independence” of the female lead.
Taylor tweeted: “About a year and a half ago I wrote a song about the story of a girl who always lived on the outside, looking in. Figuratively and literally. The juxtaposition of her loneliness and independence. Her curiosity and fear all tangled up. Her persisting gentleness and the world’s betrayal of it.”
The lyrics include, “You didn’t see me here” and “There are places I will never go to / Things that only Carolina will ever know.”
She then produced it alongside long-time friend and music collaborator Aaron Dessner.
The pair co-produced Taylor’s critically-acclaimed eighth and ninth studio albums, ‘folklore’ and ‘evermore’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue is recording new music in London.
Although the 54-year-old singer relocated to her native Australia from London in 2021, she has been back in the English capital in recent weeks, where she has been working on her 16th studio album.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Kylie didn’t get a chance to tour her last album because of COVID restrictions, but she’s thrown herself back into writing music.
“She really loves being in the studio and is spending this summer working on her next record with some really exciting collaborators like [the songwriter] Kamille.
“‘Disco’ proved that she still has what it takes to make a massively successful pop album and people are queuing up to work with her.
“There are major plans in the pipeline and she can’t wait to have another record out and to be back on the road.”
While Kylie is anxious to get back on tour, she wants to make sure she has new music for her fans before that happens.
The insider added: “It has been more than three years since her ‘Golden’ tour and she is itching to perform.
“But that won’t happen now until this new album is out. It’s going to be well worth the wait.”
Kylie had been planning some tour dates late last year but a surge in COVID cases made that impossible.
She said in October: “I’m dreaming of doing dates. We are inching closer to being able to do something like that. Patience. I can’t wait.
“Keep your disco outfit not too far away. Not at the back of the cupboard.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Fireboy DML thinks he will “definitely” be a part of music history.
The 26-year-old R B singer – whose real name is Adedamola Adefolahan – teamed up with pop superstar Ed Sheeran on smash hit ‘Peru’ and admitted he was “ready” for the sudden fame the collaboration would bring and is proud of the Afrobeats song because it has “pushed” the genre to “where it “deserves to be.”
He said: “I was ready for all the fame as soon as ‘Peru’ came out. When something you created in the confines of a room is getting so much love and attention, and the fact it represents the growth of Afrobeats, that all just means a lot to me. That’s where all the energy of mine is going: pushing Afrobeats to that level where it deserves to be. In years to come when they mention [the] names of people responsible for taking Afrobeats [to] where it is now, my name will definitely be a part of history, and that alone is enough. I feel like I deserve that, and I’ve put in a lot of work.”
However, the ‘Jealous’ hitmaker – who released his debut album ‘Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps’ back in 2019 and followed it up with ‘Apollo’ in 2020 – is set to release third album ‘Playboy’ in August – added that while he always hoped to have the success brought on by the Ed Sheeran collaboration, he “did not see it coming”
He told NME: “Honestly, I never saw it coming. I’ve always wanted a song like this: I’ve always prayed for a smash, an international smash, ever since Afrobeats went really big and global. I’ve always wanted this [success], but I didn’t see it coming this early. I knew I had a very big song in ‘Peru’, and I knew they were going to love it in Africa, especially Nigeria. It has a catchy hook and stuff like that, but I didn’t see this going as big [as it has]!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish is hoping to make a new album “in the next year.”
The 20-year-old pop star has already worked with her brother FINNEAS on the smash hit records ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ and ‘Happier Than Ever’ – both of which topped the charts around the globe – and remains hopeful that the pair will create a third album in 2023 but in the meantime has created the surprise EP ‘Guitar Songs.’
She said: “We’re going to hopefully make another album in the next year. I mean, it’s crazy. I hate to say this because I know it’s a disappointment to people that think, ‘Oh my God, they’re making an album. It’s going to come out soon.’ TV and The 30th are the only songs that we have. We don’t have any other songs. These songs are really current for me, and they’re songs that I want to have said right now. I was talking to FINNEAS and I was like, “You know what, man? I don’t want to wait until the next album cycle to put these songs on an album and then it’s like, ‘Wow, we have these two guitar songs that are two years old.'”
The ‘bad guy’ hitmaker – who has been on a world tour since February – went on to explain that it can be “really tough” to write new music while on the road because of a grueling schedule.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, she added: “FINNEAS and I had talked about we want to be making music and we just haven’t had any time to make music and we’re on tour and it’s busy and this and that. So we made a little schedule. We were like, “Okay, well, let’s see if we make anything if we work today.” But when you’re on the road and especially the schedule that we had, it was really tough. But we tried, and we ended up writing the, I think, first verse and the chorus … We wrote the first verse a couple months ago, many months ago now, and it was … Should I just say it? I’m actually with [my personal assistant] Laura right now. Laura’s sitting here. We come into my green room, and I’m like, “Laura, listen to this song we just wrote,” and it was just the verse. It was just the first verse. I play it, and Laura literally is sitting there like this, and I was like, ‘But it’s fictional. It’s just fictional. It’s not anything real. Don’t worry about it.’Then a couple months went by, and things changed, and then we wrote the rest of the song.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack White got more done in lockdown than “in the last 10 years.”
The 47-year-old musician – who is known for being a member of 1990s rock duo The White Stripes alongside ex-wife Meg but has carved out a solo career in recent years – explained that lockdown was “great” for him because he has a home studio to create music in.
He said: “It might sound surprising but I’ve done more stuff (recently) than in the last 10 years. What’s great about being shut in for someone like me is I have a studio at home to create music, but also a place to work on furniture and design, and I have Third Man Records to manage and a (vinyl) pressing plant. I’ve got all these activities that require my attention. My dad was also into a lot of different things – repaired radios or worked on carpentry projects. But he never had the time to do everything that he wanted to do. I’ve managed to complete many furniture projects and I also redid my entire workshop.”
The ‘Seven Nation Army’ hitmaker released his fifth solo album ‘Entering Heaven Alive’ on Friday (22.07.22), just two months after he dropped ‘Fear of the Dawn’ and explained that while he had initially planned a single album, it was best to split the albums across two albums because of their differing styles.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “The idea for a long time was to make a single album,” he revealed. “That’s the way these albums were conceived. It didn’t matter which band or name I released it under It was already a thing I was doing with the White Stripes, those albums were very varied for just a duo. (But) this time it didn’t go as planned. The soft, melodic songs didn’t go well with heavier pieces. So I started to split them into two titles. It was better to keep them in their own unique little universe.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The current line-up of the Sugababes has insisted that there is “no bad blood” between themselves and previous members.
The 2000s pop group – which currently comprises founding members Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhán Donaghy but previously featured Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah, and Jade Ewen at various points over the years – officially reunited under their original name in June 2022 following a legal trademark battle and are set to tour the UK in October 2022 for the first time in almost a decade.
Keisha said: “Destiny’s Child had as many line-up changes as we had but obviously Beyoncé and Kelly were always there. But in terms of what actually happened, everyone had their reasons. But if you can’t look back and laugh. We don’t have bad blood with previous members. Our focus is on moving forward, being creative, and that we won the right to our name back. Being back is about being underdogs and fighting the system. Not allowing us to use the name we came up with. This is about showing people if you’re passionate about something – then continue!”
The ‘Push the Button’ hitmakers – whose record of six number one singles as a girl group during their heyday was a feat bettered only by fellow Brits the Spice Girls – took to the stage at the Mighty Hoopla festival in London back in June and Mutya spoke of her surprise that they were recognised by current music stars such as Stormzy and Jorja Smith.
During the joint interview, she told Metro newspaper’s Weekend magazine: “We could see everyone smiling but it was only when we watched the video back we realised it was a sea of people, almost like a rave! Just them knowing the songs. I don’t know why I was surprised but it was really exciting. We met Jorja Smith and she was like, “Oh, I love the Sugababes”, and she’s in her early twenties, so it’s not just the people from before. I met Stormzy and he was like, ‘Oh! Sugababes!'”
