White also dropped a new song called ‘You Got Me Searching’ to mark the tour announcement.
The North American tour will include stops in Chicago, Detroit, Nashville and Los Angeles as well as Vancouver, Canada before wrapping in Troutdale, Oregon on May 24.
The rocker previously insisted the tour had already started before the majority of the dates were announced after performing a number of small pop-up shows.
He shared on Instagram: “Hello, and love to all the peoples of the world out there. Lotta folk asking about when we are going to announce ‘tour dates’, well, we don’t know what to tell you but the tour already started at the Legion a couple of weeks ago.
“People keep saying that these are ‘Pop up shows’ we’ve been playing, well, you can call them whatever you want, but we are on tour right now.”
He added: “These are the ‘shows’. We won’t really be announcing dates in advance so much, we will mostly be playing at small clubs, back yard fetes, and a few festivals here and there to help pay for expenses.”

BLACKPINK’s Lisa was ‘scared’ to go solo

OHMYGOSSIP — BLACKPINK star Lisa was “scared and nervous” to embark on her solo career.
The 27-year-old K-pop star recently launched her own artist management firm, LLOUD, and has a solo album in the pipeline, and she’s admitted she was terrified to go it alone without her bandmates – Jennie, 28, ROSÉ, 27, and Jisoo, 29 – but her fans’ reaction to her singles was a “healing” experience and now she is enjoying every minute of it.
She told Billboard: “At first, I was scared and nervous because I never really come out here to do my own stuff.
“And now I’m having fun.”
On the response to her solo tunes, she said: “When [my singles] came out, the reaction from the fans, it’s healing me. It’s like, ‘Oh, my God. Yeah — I did a great job!’”
Lisa is excited for fans to see a different side to her as she insists she has a lot more to offer than just being a rapper.
She said: “I’m not like, ‘OK, I’m going to sit down and write the whole thing.’
“In BLACKPINK, I’m a rapper, so I always rap, but now it’s a chance for me to show the world that I’m capable of [so much more].
“It’s a little looser [now].
“We’re not rookies anymore. I’m 27 and headed toward 30. Of course I’m still young, yes, but I feel like it’s more flexible for us. And it’s nothing crazy … I feel like I’m just doing whatever I want, and it doesn’t hurt anyone. As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone’s feelings.”
The ‘Sour Candy’ hitmakers couldn’t be more supportive of each other’s solo ventures.
Lisa said: “We know each other so well and know how much energy we have to put into every single project.
“So we want to support and say, ‘You did really well!’ Like, Jennie and Rosie just released their own songs, and we’re on texts, we’re on FaceTime. They’re like family. I’m just so happy that they’re releasing something. This is what we all wanted to do, so I just wanted to say that I really do love their songs.”
BLACKPINK will return next year, and Lisa insists the band will always be “part of our lives”.
She added: “Of course we want to do more, because BLACKPINK, it’s part of our lives. We still want to accomplish more, but on the other side, we also wanted to do something for our solo careers.”

Doja Cat teases fans with song titles for new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Doja Cat has continued to tease fans about a new album with a since-deleted song titles list.
The ‘Paint The Town Red’ hitmaker took to X this week to share the names of 13 songs for her follow-up to 2023’s ‘Scarlet’ – before deleting the post.
She highlighted five of the songs – ‘Cards’, ‘Acts Of Service’, ‘Make It Up’, ‘Did I Lie’ and ‘Crack’ – as her “favourite”.
Doja later noted: “Songs are in no particular order. Starred my favorites. (sic)”
Last month, the ‘Say So’ hitmaker teased fans by simply writing “album” on X.
In September, the 29-year-old rapper declared that she doesn’t want to write hits just to “protect her pockets”.
The singer admitted she has done songs in the past just to be popular, and said she wanted to experiment with the eclectic mix of genres that she loves, including jazz, neo soul, indie and rock music.
In an interview conducted by singer Jack Harlow for Present Space, Doja said: “I really love jazz music, and I love neo soul, and different kinds of rock music and indie and experimental music. That stuff tends to get pushed to the side by the general populace, and I didn’t see it in the past for me, so I did the thing that I knew would stick. Now, I feel like I can take those elements that I have from the music that sticks and put it into this soup of different genres that I really love and enjoy and respect, and make something new with it. That’s what I’ve always loved to do, is swirl a lot of different sounds together, but really in the future, I want to start going in a different direction sonically that isn’t supposed to just protect my pockets necessarily, and isn’t just supposed to woo the younger fans or the people who only want to hear sexual themes or self-medication or stuff like that. There’s so much to life and it’s been a pattern of writing about those things for me, but now I want to stretch the canvas.”
The star stepped away from her conventional pop style on ‘Scarlet’, focusing on hip-hop and R’n’B.

Roy was given the nickname Mr. Snap Crackle in the 1950s for his high-octane drumming style.

His professional career in 1945. In 1947, he worked for two years with saxophonist Lester Young and from 1949 to 1952 was a member of sax player Charlie Parker’s quintet.

As well as being as master of the drum kit, Roy was known for his suave dress sense and was even named one of the best-dressed men in America alongside Fred Astaire, Miles Davis, Clark Gable and Cary Grant in 1960 by Esquire magazine.
In 2001, Haynes was nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album for ‘Birds of a Feather: A Tribute to Charlie Parker’.
Away from music, Roy voiced himself in the 2008 video game ‘Grand Theft Auto IV’ as the fictional DJ of classic jazz radio station, Jazz Nation Radio 108.5.
One of the most decorated drummers of all time, Roy went on to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Jazz Foundation of America in 2019.
Roy lived to play live and famously celebrated many of his birthdays onstage and would have turned 100 in March 2025.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Fender will release his new album ‘People Watching’ on February 21.
The 30-year-old rocker has revealed his follow-up to 2021’s ‘Seventeen Going Under’ is set to come out early next year.
The album’s title track will be released on Friday (15.11.24).
Praising his band, Sam said: “So happy to announce our third album ‘People Watching’ is coming out Feb 21st.
“Me and the band have picked away at these songs for the last couple of years, we recorded so much material in that time and deliberated long and hard over what came next. We settled on this collection for our next outing.
“Special thanks to Dean [Thompson] and Joe [Atkinson] who have been with me every step of the way, they are incredible producers in their own right and I’m eternally proud and grateful for them both. The band has really evolved in this time.”
The ‘Poundshop Kardashians’ singer’s third album getting a release date comes after he recently revealed he worked with The War On Drugs’ Adam Granduciel on the record.
Sam shared a series of photos and videos from the making of the LP on Instagram, which was simply captioned: “mastered x.”
The photos included the ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ hitmaker with his guitar around his neck, the recording studio itself, and Adam playing keyboards alongside other musicians, while there were also videos featuring brief snippets of music, including a saxophone solo, and live footage of Sam on stage.
A few months ago, Sam revealed his “best mate”, Brooke Bentham, would feature heavily on his new album.
Alongside a series of throwback pictures of the pair jamming together, he wrote on Instagram: “The legend that is Brooke Bentham has joined the band!
“First time I met Brooke I learnt how to sing. Our mutual friend @paulstephenwalton ran just about every buskers night in and around Newcastle at the time, but it was in gosforth where I met Brooke Benthsteen. I walked in to the bar to the sound of the best cover of ‘dancing in the dark’ I’d ever heard, and from that moment we were best mates (and I ripped off the way she sings and played that cover to death in almost every gig I’ve ever done) but hey! It f****** worked!!!
“Anyway, 13-14 years later, she’s joined the band!
Her voice is all over the next album, it’s been an absolute pleasure singing with her again and I can’t wait for you to hear what we’ve made.
“Here’s some photos of me and Brooke when we were teenagers X
“Drop her a follow and listen to her solo stuff!!! (sic)”
Sam also debuted two tracks from the LP live at an intimate Devon concert over the summer, with fans at Plymouth Pavilions getting to hear the first-ever performances of ‘People Watching’ and ‘Nostalgia’s Lie’.

Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones hasn’t spoke to ex-bandmate Johnny Rotten in 16 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Sex Pistol Steve Jones hasn’t spoken to his former bandmate Johnny Rotten since their final 2008 tour.
The legendary punk rock group more recently found themselves in a legal drama after guitarist Steve and drummer Paul Cook were locked in a High Court battle with the former frontman- whose real surname is Lydon – over the use of their songs in Danny Boyle’s 2022 Disney TV drama ‘Pistol’, which the singer ultimately lost, and things got bitter with Johnny branding them “greedy” and “nasty”.
It turns out, Steve hasn’t had any verbal communication with Johnny since their last concert at the Azkena Festival in Spain in September 2008.
Speaking on the ‘Rockonteurs’ podcast, Steve said: “I haven’t spoken to him in years. 2008 was the last time I spoke to him. We did 30 shows around Europe. We did a bunch of festivals and all that, Japan, Australia. We ended up at Hammersmith Odeon, Hammersmith Apollo, and then we had one more show in the Basque country and that was it.”
He insisted: “I was done after that, no more. Too much. Too old, too much, not enough done.”
The Sex Pistols – also including bassist Glen Matlock – have recently started touring with Frank Carter in the place of Johnny and have just been confirmed to play Download Festival next summer.
After a successful one-off show performing their only album, ‘Never Mind The B*******’, in full at London’s Bush Hall in August, they embarked on a tour in September.
Frank – who previously fronted noisemakers Gallows before going on to tour as Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes – actually first met Steve back in 2007 and was “very grateful” when he got the call to front the ‘God Save The Queen’ group.
He told NME: “I first met Steve [Jones, guitarist] back in Los Angeles in 2007 and we had a long chat about punk rock and what it means to be kicking against the p*****.
“Then I eventually met all of them throughout the years. But when I got the call up for this, it was a very special moment. It’s still one that I’m cherishing and I feel very grateful for.”

NCT’s Mark gives update on debut solo album: ‘I am putting every ounce of my soul into this album’

OHMYGOSSIP — NCT’s Mark is “putting every ounce of my soul” into his debut solo album.
The 25-year-old rapper is known as a member of the South Korean boy band NCT and its fixed sub-units NCT 127 and NCT Dream, as well as the South Korean supergroup SuperM, and he’s set to release his first full-length collection as a solo artist next year.
Mark – who released the single ‘200’ in May – says his biggest hurdle was trying to nail down what direction to go on as he’s talented at many different genres.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m actually preparing for my solo album right now. The toughest thing about this was that I realised that there wasn’t a specific genre that I couldn’t really pull off.”
He explained: “For 127, for Dream and for my solo album, they’re all genres that I really like to do. I think that’s one of the biggest talents that I have in a way.”
He went on: “I think that kind of helps me narrow all those genres down.
“I am putting every ounce of my soul into this album, no joke.”
The Canadian-born star says he wants to put out an album that he has no “regrets” about.
He added: “There isn’t a day that goes by when I’m not working on this album or not thinking about this album. It’s going to be an album that I’m not going to have any regrets on, but I’m just really, really working hard on it.”
The K-pop star has been working on his solo album in between touring with NCT Dream, who just put out their fourth studio album, ‘Dreamscape’.
Their jaunt, entitled ‘The Dream Show 3: Dream( )scape’, came to London’s OVO Arena Wembley on Tuesday (12.11.24) and they will conclude the run with three concerts in Seoul, South Korea on November 29, 30 and December 1.

Beabadoobee inspired by Taylor Swift to tour sober

OHMYGOSSIP — Beabadoobee was inspired by Taylor Swift to tour sober.
The 24-year-old singer-songwriter recently completed her North American tour in support of her latest LP ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ and she was amazed by how much more “energy” she had by simply cutting out alcohol.
She told Cosmopolitan UK’s December/January issue: “It was my first proper long sober tour. I had so much energy! And I really consistently cared about the performances and fan interactions. It was an interesting experience doing it sober.”
Beabadoobee got to support the ‘Fortnight’ hitmaker on her ‘Eras Tour’ and shared how her advice has made her a “better artist”.
As well as taking tips from pop megastar Taylor, 34, on touring, Beabadoobee – whose real name is Beatrice Kristi Ilejay Laus – says the Grammy winner taught her to “stop freaking out about the little things”.
On being influenced by the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker, she told the magazine: “She said she was doing this tour sober, and it made everything make sense. She’s a beast, dude – three-hour long shows every night, choreo. All this crazy s***. No supping on alcohol! She also helped me see that even when things are so epic, mistakes happen. You keep going. She helped me learn to stop freaking out about the little things. It made me a better artist.”
The ‘Glue Song’ star also praised pop star Chappell Roan, 26, for setting boundaries between herself and her fans and for being so honest about her mental health.
She said: “I really appreciate people such as Chappell who feel out of control and are honest about it. She’s open in a way that’s really important right now. How she asserts her boundaries makes it a better world for us all. I admire her so much.”
Read the full interview in Cosmopolitan UK’s Dec/Jan issue, on newsstands from November 19, or via http://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/beabadoobee.

Spandau Ballet star Gary Kemp announces third solo album

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Kemp has announced his third solo album.
The 65-year-old musician – who is best known as the lead guitarist, backing vocalist, and principal songwriter for the new wave band Spandau Ballet – will release ‘This Destination’ on January 31 2025 through East West Records, and the record has been preceded by his new single ‘Put Your Head Up’, which is out now.
He said: “The song is essentially a conversation I was having with myself, trying to encourage positivity in the face of life’s usual buffeting headwinds. ”
Lyrically, the 11-track record marks a journey in discovery for Gary, who suffered a lapse in self-belief in the years following the Coronavirus pandemic, and the ‘Gold’ hitmaker explained that the title track serves as an ode to how he uses music to navigate through tough times in life.
He said: “It’s about my relationship with music. Whatever I’m going through, whatever conflict arises, the process of making music is my resolution. That’s my destination.”
Production of the album was plagued by a spell of writer’s block but that was eventually helped by Gary’s fellow musician Richard Hawley, who was a member of Longpigs in the 1990s before going onto his own solo career.
Gary explained: “It was Richard Hawley. We chatted for a while and I told him I’d been going round in circles trying to write something that day. He said ‘Okay, here’s what you do. Go over to the piano and sit down.
“Put your hands out over the keys. I’m going to go now, and you’re going to write a f****** brilliant song.”
The album – which follows on from ‘Little Bruises’ in 1995 and ‘INSOLO’ in 2021 – will be released in a range of formats, including on red gold vinyl, a standard CD, a deluxe CD and across digital streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.
The deluxe version of the album features three bonus tracks in the form of ‘Boy’ and live acoustic versions of ‘True’ and ‘Through the Barricades’.

Green Day, Sleep Token and Korn to headline Download Festival

OHMYGOSSIP — Green Day, Sleep Token and Korn will headline the 2025 Download Festival.
The annual rock and metal festival will return to Donington Park in Leicestershire for its 22nd outing on 13-15 June, with all three acts booked to top the bill performing in the headline slots for the first time.
Joining the bands on the bill are a number of other huge names, including Weezer, Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter, Jimmy Eat World, Within Temptation, Eagles Of Death Metal, The Darkness, Poppy, Loathe, Spiritbox, Meshuggah, Steel Panther, Lorna Shore, Airbourne, Jerry Cantrell, Cradle Of Filth, Alien Ant Farm, CKY, McFly, Don Broco, Mallory Knox, The Ghost Inside, Turbonegro, Sylosis, Whitechapel, Fit For An Autopsy, Lorna Shore, Kittie, and Jinjer.
Download Festival’s Andy Copping said in a statement: “Following on from last year’s sold out 21st edition, Download’s legacy not only includes the incredible artists who have performed at the hallowed grounds over the years, but also our unrivalled community, safe and warm atmosphere, and fantastic afterhours entertainment at District X, with something for truly everyone.”
General tickets will go on sale this Thursday (14.11.24) at 9am from www.downloadfestival.co.uk.
Green Day will be hoping the festival gives fans the chance to check out some new music, as they previously told of their despair at people relying on TikTok algorithms to be introduced to other artists.
Mike Dirnt told The Sun newspaper: “Social media is great for kids but if you’re finding your music via algorithms then that’s just lazy.
“I like to organically find new things. All I can say is just clear your search history to find new [stuff].”
Billie Joe Armstrong added: “I was told that ‘Brain Stew’ was a sudden popular thing on TikTok with a lot of hip-hop kids dancing to it. And that’s cool.
“But I don’t have the patience to use it. It’s just like, eurgh. It’s cool for other people but we’re old- school man.”
And the trio worry such algorithms are fuelling the rise of misinformation online.
Billie Joe said: “With all the algorithms that people live on, there’s so much false information, and there’s people diagnosing themselves with Asperger’s off TikTok. That’s absurd to me.”

Eminem, Janet Jackson and Boy George nominated for 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Eminem, Janet Jackson and Boy George are among the artists nominated for entry into the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The annual list includes 26 performing and non-performing songwriters with the rap icon, ‘Control’ hitmaker and ’80s pop legend all vying for entry in the former category.
The performing list also includes the likes of ‘Higher Love’ hitmaker Steve Winwood, Beach Boy Mike Love, hip-hop group N.W.A., Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Bryan Adams, and the Doobie Brothers.
The latter list includes Walter Afanasieff, the producer best known for his work with Mariah Carey, Mike Chapman (Blondie, Suzi Quatro), and Buddy Holly’s collaborator Sonny Curtis.
The induction gala will take place in New York City in June.
The artists chosen for induction this year were R.E.M., Timbaland, Steely Dan, Hillary Lindsey and Dean Pitchford.
Prince and Cindy Walker were posthumously inducted.
SZA was honoured with the Hal David Starlight Award and songwriter to the stars Diane Warren was presented with the Johnny Mercer Award.
Only songwriters who released their first commercial hit 20 years ago are eligible for induction.
Meanwhile, Diane previously slammed pop stars for using multiple co-writers.
The lyricist – who has penned hits for the likes of Britney Spears, Toni Braxton, and Lady Gaga, to name a few – can’t believe that the majority of today’s pop songs have so many names on the credits because they don’t sound “any better” for it.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, Diane said: “You have 10 writers on a song now.
“I look at the credits and think: ‘What the f*** did you guys all do? Why isn’t this song 10 times better?’
“Prince, by himself, wrote songs 10 times better than these songs where everyone in the room gets a writer’s credit.”

Band Aid back with new 40th anniversary mix of Do They Know It’s Christmas?

OHMYGOSSIP — A new 40th anniversary version of Band Aid’s festive hit ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ will see U2’s Bono sing with a younger version of himself and a young George Michael sing with Harry Styles.
The ‘Band Aid Compilation’, which will be released physically on November 29, will feature the new ‘2024 Ultimate Mix’, available to stream from November 25, bringing together the voices of all three official chart-topping versions of the charity single (1984’s ‘Band Aid’, 2004’s ‘Band Aid 20’ and 2014’s ‘Band Aid 30′).
Bono sang the famous line on the 1984 original: “Well tonight thank God it’s them, instead of you.”
The new mix sees Sting sing with a young Ed Sheeran, who featured on Band Aid 30’s 2014 version, plus a mix of artists from the original tune and the two other versions of Bob Geldof and Midge Ure’s Christmas classic with production from Trevor Horn, who has blended all the vocals into one seamless recording.
A young Boy George sings with a young Sam Smith. Chris Martin with Guy Garvey, the Sugababes and Bananarama, Seal and Sinead O’Connor, Rita Ora and Robbie Williams, Kool and the Gang and Underworld.
The singers are backed by the house band of Sir Paul McCartney, Sting, Duran Duran’s John Taylor, Phil Collins, Roger Taylor, Danny Goffey of Supergrass, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, Paul Weller, Damon Albarn, Gary Kemp and Justin Hawkins.
A new video, helmed by the filmmaker behind the short film that accompanied The Beatles’ last song ‘Now And Then’, Oliver Murray, will feature late music legend David Bowie introducing the stars of the song and Michael Buerk’s BBC news report.
A portion of the money raised from sales of the compilation and streams of the ‘2024 Ultimate Mix’ will go to charity.
The original song raised a whopping £8 million for the 1983 to 1985 famine in Ethiopia and shot straight to the top of the charts.
It broke the record for the fastest-selling track of all time in the UK and was number one for five weeks.
Meanwhile, to mark the milestone of the ‘song that changed the world’, it was just announced that unseen footage from the first Band Aid single is set to be aired for the first time.
Zoe Ball will front the BBC Radio 2 documentary ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?: The Song That Changed The World’ on Sunday December 1, including contributes from Bob Geldof, Midge Ure, Bono, Sting and more.
BBC Four and BBC iPlayer will air the 75-minute documentary ‘The Making of Do They Know It’s Christmas?’.
The film has unearthed the original footage shot by director Nigel Dick at SARM Studios in Notting Hill, which has been newly restored and digitised.

Coldplay to play BIGGEST show of their career in India

OHMYGOSSIP — Coldplay are set to play the biggest show of their career in Ahmedabad.
Chris Martin and co will bring their ‘Music of the Spheres’ stadium tour to the 132,000-capacity Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat, India, on January 25.
The ‘Fix You’ hitmakers have also teased that they will be joined by a “mystery special guest”.
After wrapping the Australian shows in Auckland on November 16, the Asian leg kicks off in Abu Dhabi on January 9, before taking in Hong Kong, Seoul and Mumbai.
The North American leg takes place in May and July, starting in Stanford, California, on May 31.
Meanwhile, Coldplay recently announced concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium and Hull’s Craven Park Stadium next August in support of the Music Venue Trust.
The band are donating 10 per cent of their earnings from the shows to the charity fighting to save grassroots venues in the UK.
Frontman Chris recently spoke out on the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on independent venues and noted that the biggest acts on the planet – including themselves – were once up-and-coming bands and gained invaluable experience honing their craft at small venues, so it would be heartbreaking if they were forced to close their doors.
He told NME: “You can’t just jump into that. With all of the artists that are playing stadiums next year, it’s no coincidence that all of them started in a van, driving around and playing pubs: Oasis, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, the truth is all there. Taylor Swift has probably played more than anyone in tiny Nashville venues and county fairs.”

Noel Gallagher ‘creates six hour version of Champagne Supernova’

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher has reportedly created a six hour version of ‘Champagne Supernova’.
The iconic six-minute Oasis track – which originally appeared on the band’s 1995 album ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ – is said to have been transformed for London’s National Portrait Gallery.
As reported by The Independent newspaper, Noel has turned the song into a six hour ambient immersive soundscape.
The 57-year-old musician’s portrait is going on display at the museum later this month as part of the Legends exhibition with 100 portraits by London-based photographer Zoe Law.
The new version of ‘Champange Supernova’ will play for visitors at the gallery as part of the exhibit.
The gallery is also set to display an unseen portrait of Sienna Miller holding Noel’s 1967 Epiphone guitar which he used to write the track.
He previousy said: “The thought of the portrait of a grumpy middle-aged man, who frankly hates having his picture taken, being permanently displayed for future generations to marvel at is very special.”
Meanwhile, it’s been claimed Noel has been busy in the studio ahead of Oasis’ reunion tour next year.
However, with previous recording sessions for the group being notoriously volatile as a result of the tension between him and brother Liam Gallagher, the possibility of a row between the pair is being minimised as they wouldn’t have to be in the same room in order to finish the tracks.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Noel has been making new music for a few months and has around six tracks in the bag.
“Now Liam could always add his vocals remotely, to avoid any bust-ups between the two siblings.
“It’s of the utmost importance that they are as harmonious as possible ahead of their massive reunion.”
The outlet claimed the idea of the songs being recorded for Oasis has been “intensely denied” by Noel and Liam’s “people”, who insisted the brothers’ focus is on the tour.
However, Noel is keen for the band not to be seen as a “nostalgia act”.

My Chemical Romance tease new project 14 years after last album

OHMYGOSSIP — My Chemical Romance have teased a new project on social media.
The ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ rockers – who broke up in 2013 before releasing new song ‘The Foundations of Decay’ nine years later – have largely kept things quiet since their reunion tour ended in March 2023, besides a headline slot at When We Were Young Festival last month.
On Monday (11.11.24), the band’s official Instagram shared an image of a hazy skyline and confetti alongside Russian letters which translate to “TPK”.
The cryptic post was captioned: “If you could be anything, what would you be?”
While there are no further hints about the message and what it could mean, fans have suggested it may refer to MCR’s scrapped record ‘The Paper Kingdom’, which was ditched in 2013 and would have been their fifth album.
The group – made up of brothers Gerard and Mikey Way, Ray Toro and Frank Iero – finished six songs for the LP, before axing the collection and breaking up.
The following year, frontman Gerard opened up about “that My Chem record that didn’t get made”, noting that it was “really dark” during a period where the ‘Umbrella Academy’ creator was “finding anything else to do besides write music”.
He told ‘The Andy Greenwald Podcast’ at the time: “I cared what the songs were, but like it’s gonna be a bunch of dark stuff and we’re going to build costumes and stage sets.
“And it’s going to be this storyline about a support group of parents who are dealing with the loss of their children so they make up this story about the children all being missing in the woods and fighting this witch and that was what it was about.
“It was called ‘The Paper Kingdom’. And there may be a time in my life where I want to do ‘The Paper Kingdom’. And maybe it’s a book, or maybe it’s something else.”
