OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B is getting her 2015 track ‘Cheap A** Weave’ taken down from streaming services after sampled rapper Lady Leshurr called her out for not giving her a credit or a single penny in royalties.
In light of Kelis laying into Beyonce for not giving her any credit for using a sample of her 2003 hit ‘Milkshake’ on her ‘Renaissance’ track ‘Energy’, British rapper Leshurr has had some back-and-forth with the ‘WAP’ hitmaker over her using a beat from her 2015 song ‘Queen’s Speech 4’
The exchange began with Leshurr tweeting a follower: “You mind asking Cardi if she can break me off a likkle change she used my beat/idea before her big break and is now a millionaire and I got paid 0. (sic)”
Cardi, 29, then responded claiming she made all but $2 from it and offered to split the abysmal earnings with the 34-year-old star.
She wrote back: “I made like 2 dollars of that song … you want the other dollar?”
Leshurr insisted she was more “mad” about not receiving a credit.
She wrote back: “would b nice but tbh I just wanted my credit and it’s mad I had to tweet banter 4 a response when I dm u years ago about it.
“I was cool wen I thought it was just YT cover but it’s on streaming sites as ‘cheap azz weave’ nw and urs comes up b4 mine so yes dollar and credit pls. (sic)”
Cardi – who broke into the mainstream with her 2017 hit ‘Bodak Yellow’ – promised Leshurr she would have ‘Cheap A** Weave’ removed from all streaming sites and YouTube and give her the dollar.
She said: “I don’t find the song on apple but if it’s on any streaming service I will be makin sure it’s takin down including YouTube,.
I will also make sure I send you your dollar. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Aguilera promised to release a new English-language album at her Liverpool concert.
The 41-year-old star released her Spanish-language album ‘Aguilera’ in May and has been penning new music after becoming inspired by the reception she received at her recent concerts.
And during her performance at Liverpool’s Marks and Spencer Bank Arena on Wednesday night (03.08.22), she told the crowd the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Liberation’ “is coming”.
A source also told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It’s early days but Christina is back working on new music.
“She really enjoyed trying something different with ‘Aguilera’ which was a real passion project for her, but she is ready to go back to her pop roots.
“At the moment she is experimenting with sounds but it’s likely to be the dancey commercial sound with big vocals that fans love her for.”
Meanwhile, Christina – who has 14-year son Max with her producer ex Jordan Bratman and seven-year-old daughter Summer with her current man Matthew Rutler – previously revealed her Spanish-language music is a way to “share” her culture with her children.
She said: “To now approach the new Spanish music at a time in my life where I’ve survived this business over decades and am a mother to my children, who I want to share a part of themselves, a part of their roots, a part of their heritage, has been such a beautiful blessing within itself.
“My daughter listens to all of the new Spanish music in the car and requests it. Sometimes I have to be like, ‘Ugh, I don’t want to think about work right now. Let’s listen to Encanto.’ But it’s just been beautiful to see her resonate with the music and know that it’s a part of her.”
The ‘Genie in a Bottle’ hitmaker also believes her music is a way for her to be “engaging with” her family history, such as her Ecuadorian estranged father, Fausto.
Christina said: “So starting with La Fuerza, the strength, [then] La Tormenta takes you through some of life’s hardships. We’re closing [the trilogy] with La Luz — and ultimately the main comprehensive album, Aguilera — acknowledging, embracing and engaging with my roots in a way that I’ve never done. The final chapter shares some closure in relation to my father, and sheds light on any darkness to be left in the past.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Samson singer Nicky Moore has died.
The heavy metal pioneer passed away aged 75 on Wednesday (03.08.22) morning after battling Parkinson’s Disease.
A statement on the veteran rocker’s website read: “It is with immense sadness and almost unbearably heavy hearts that we have to let you all know that Nicky – a man larger than life in body and spirit – has sadly passed away this morning.
“A man that lived a thousand lifetimes in just one has decided he needed a rest. Rest well, dear friend. We will all miss you x”
Nicky – who is survived by sons Nick Jr. and Timmy – co-founded Hackensack in the early 1970s before joining Tiger and famously replacing Bruce Dickinson – who left to join Iron Maiden – as Samson frontman in 1981.
He left the band later in the decade but rejoined in the 1990s.
In the 1990s, he also formed Nicky Moore and the Blues Corporation, and he also worked as a vocal coach, showing off his skills in 1998 BBC docu-soap ‘Lakesiders’.
After leaving Samon for the first time, Nicky sang in a band called Mammoth, who released two albums before splitting in 1989.
In 2006, he joined forces with former Nazareth guitarist Manny Charlton and three musicians from Locomotive Breath, releasing an album under the name From Behind.
Nicky famously once performed a gig after suffering two broken ribs in a car crash and later explained he wouldn’t let down his fans if he could avoid it.
He once said: “People pay money to come and see you, you don’t let them down, and if there’s a possible way I can sing whether it be with two broken ribs or an arm falling off, or whether I’ve got flu or whatever – if I can sing I will not let them down.
“I think people have known that for years – you can count the amount of gigs I’ve had to miss on one hand over the last few years. I’ve tried as hard as I can to make it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears has recorded a new verse to Sir Elton John’s ‘Tiny Dancer’ on their upcoming duet ‘Hold Me Closer’.
The pop icon is said to have secretly met with the 75-year-old music legend and producer Andrew Watt at a Beverly Hills recording studio last month to work on the new version of his 1971 classic, which will be her first ­single in six years.
And as well as ‘Tiny Dancer’, it also features parts of Elton’s 1992 track ‘The One’ and more of his tunes.
‘Hold Me Closer’, which is expected to be released before the end of August, follows Elton and Dua Lipa’s chart-topper ‘Cold Heart’, which was a mashup of ‘Rocket Man’, ‘Sacrifice’, ‘Kiss The Bride’, and ‘Where’s The Shoorah?’.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Elton has helped countless artists throughout the years, both publicly and privately, and has been well aware of Britney’s battle to escape her conservatorship.
“They have known each other for years, with Elton personally inviting Brit to a number of his famous Oscar parties.
“He genuinely wants the best for her and to hear them on a track together is amazing.
“He was very keen to make it clear they are both on a level playing field when it comes to credits.
“It will be ‘Elton John, Britney Spears’ — she won’t simply be a featured artist.
“And she will get the money she deserves from the earnings.”
Britney – whose 13-year conservatorship finally came to an end in November 2021 – had been hinting recently that she is thinking about getting back to work.
In July, the 40-year-old star shared an Instagram video of herself singing a new version of her debut single ‘…Baby One More Time’.
She captioned the clip: “I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time … maybe too long.”
The track will be Britney’s first official single since 2016’s ‘Slumber Party’, the video shoot for which she met her now-husband Sam Asghari.
According to an insider, Britney secured a “record-breaking deal” from Universal to record with Elton.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady A have postponed their upcoming tour while Charles Kelley focuses on getting sober.
The country trio – completed by Hillary Scott, 36, and Dave Haywood, 40 – have made the difficult decision to delay the ‘Request Line Tour’, which was due to kick off on August 13, until next year as they throw their support behind Charles, 40, as he embarks on his journey to sobriety.
In a social media statement, the ‘Need You Now’ hitmakers said: “Being on the road with our fans is our greatest joy, so it was a hard but important decision to make.
“We are a band, but more importantly… we’re family. We’re proud to say that Charles has embarked on a journey to sobriety.”
They continued: “So, right now in order to be the healthiest, strongest and most creative band we can be, Lady A will take the time with the support of our families and team of professionals to walk through this together. It’s early on this road, but we are determined to do what will best set us up for many more years together. We’re grateful for your patience.”
Lady A signed off the post: “We’re looking forward to making 2023 our best year yet! With love.”
Charles’ alcohol issues come months after Lady A and the singer Lady A settled their lawsuit out of court.
Both the trio and solo artist Anita White filed a motion in a Nashville federal court on January 31 “to dismiss the litigation” surrounding their shared moniker.
The “terms of the agreement, including who can continue to use what name or if any money changed hands, were not made public.”
Back in 2020, the band formerly known as Lady Antebellum announced they were changing their name to that of the blues singer in response to the Black Lives Matter movement, as the word Antebellum has associations with slavery in the US, and they later launched legal action against the solo artist over their shared moniker, asking for a declaration that they aren’t infringing on a trademark in using the name.
They claimed White “demanded a $10m payment” from them, and White claimed the action was taken to make her “look bad”, even though she planned to donate half the sum to charity and use the rest to rebrand herself.
She filed a countersuit against the band for “lost sales, diminished brand identity, and diminution in the value of and goodwill associated with the mark.”
White had spoken to frontwoman Hillary about the group’s proposed name change and warned her there would still be racist connotations but claimed the singer had no response.
And she wanted the group to change their name completely, which would prove they are true “allies”.
The group previously admitted they were “so naive” to have been known as Lady Antebellum for so long.

OHMYGOSSIP — BTS are releasing a new episode of their web variety show, ‘Run BTS’.
The K-pop sensations haven’t shared a new episode of their online series – which sees them complete challenges, often with special episodes for holidays – for 10 months but recently shared they will be dropping a new special instalment, following the conclusion of its third series in October.
A teaser was posted at midnight on Tuesday (02.08.22) featuring RM, Jin, Jungkook, J-Hope, V, Suga and Jimin.
In the clip for the show, which began in 2015, RM says: “BTS’ own show, Run BTS, is finally back after a 10 month break!”
Jin adds: “We did some recharging and brought more fun back with us. We hope you’ll look forward to it.”
Before the septet announced in June that they were focusing on solo ventures for the time being, the band’s recent tour was disrupted by positive COVID-19 test results.
In March, a statement read: “We would like to provide you with some information on BTS member Jung Kook being diagnosed with Covid-19. Jungkook was tested negative on a PCR test in Korea, and he departed for the United States on Sunday, March 27 (KST) in preparation for the Grammy Awards performance. After arriving in Las Vegas, he felt a slight discomfort in his throat and promptly took a rapid PCR test (Covid-19 molecular PCR test) and a standard PCR test (Covid-19 quantitative PCR test) on the afternoon of Sunday, March 27 (PT).”

At the time, the ‘Butter’ hitmakers’ management said: “He is currently undergoing treatment at home while waiting for further guidelines from the health care authorities.”
Over the Christmas period, Suga, Jin and RM all came down with the infectious virus.
Their label Big Hit Entertainment said: “We would like to inform you that BTS member SUGA has made a full recovery from COVID-19 and his quarantine has concluded as of today at noon, January 3.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jesy Nelson is being “courted” by several record labels after she split from Polydor after only 14 months.
The former Little Mix singer, 31, reportedly decided to walk away from her deal with the major label to make a fresh start after music due for Polydor was apparently delayed.
And now, it’s been claimed there are a number of labels, including “some” independent ones, who are vying to sign her.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Jesy is being courted by labels who are interested in getting her on board.
“There are some independent labels who believe they could help her return to form – and give her the freedom she clearly desires.
“Jesy is really proud of the music she has been making and she knows exactly what she wants when it comes to her sound.
“She isn’t going to rush into anything but she’s had a couple of meetings and is excited about the future.”
An insider had told The Sun last week of reason for the departure from Polydor: “Jesy decided it was the right time for her to make a clean break.
“She and the label have been going in different directions in recent months. And while there hasn’t been a fall-out, Jesy just felt it was better to start afresh now – while everyone was still friends.
“Jesy enjoyed her time with Polydor – but feels, rather than go on together while having such differing musical ideas for the future, she now wants to be able to fully develop her own ideas as an individual artist.”
Another industry insider added: “Jesy loves the music she has been working on and is really proud of it.
“She has been working hard in Los Angeles and is determined to get it out there and make a success of her solo music.”
A spokesman for the singer told the publication: “Jesy Nelson feels now is the right for her to move in a new direction. As a result, she has decided to part company with Polydor.”
Jesy quit Little Mix in December 2020, citing the pressures of being in a girl group.
She signed a major solo deal with Polydor Records, whose artists include Billie Eilish and Sam Fender, in May 2021.
The singer has released only one single, ‘Boyz’, which peaked at No4 in the charts.
Its follow up and her first solo album have both been delayed.
Jesy – who was joined in Little Mix with Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards – has been removed from Polydor’s roster of talent on their website.
She has been working on music in Los Angeles for most of this year with a string of songwriters and producers, including Tayla Parx who wrote Little Mix’s hit ‘Sweet Melody’.
A source said last month about her delayed music for Polydor: “After releasing Boyz last year, Jesy let the label hear early versions of the songs she had come up with.
“The bosses felt sure there was potential there but they wanted her to go back to the drawing board. They felt the tracks would benefit from it — so that is what she has done.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams will join his old Take That bandmates Mark Owen and Howard Donald at Radio 2 Live in Leeds.
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker has joined the line-up for BBC Radio 2’s annual festival, which is usually held at London’s Hyde Park, but is taking place at Leeds’ Temple Newsam Park on September 17 and 18.
Robbie, 48, is set to headline, with the accompaniment of the BBC Concert Orchestra, on Sunday night, while Howard, 54, will play a DJ set in the new Radio 2 DJ Tent.
Elbow were also added to the bill for Saturday night in the same announcement on ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’ on Tuesday morning (02.08.22).
Mark, 50, was previously confirmed to be joining the likes of Spice Girl Melanie C, Nile Rodgers and Chic, George Ezra, Emeli Sandé, Heather Small and Olly Murs on Sunday.
And on Saturday, Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, Craig David, Bananarama, Ella Henderson, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Kaiser Chiefs will grace the stage.
Jeff Smith, Head of Music for Radio 2, said: “We’re so pleased to be announcing the stellar artist line-up for Radio 2 Live, as our annual event spreads its wings for the first time across the UK. OHMYGOSSIP — Jess Glynne has hinted at a return to music after making her first post on social media in three years.
Earlier this year, it was reported that the ‘Rather Be’ singer had signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation record label, in a bid to become a big star in the US.
And now, the 32-year-old pop star – who decided to delete her Instagram and Twitter accounts after she was repeatedly insulted online for using a derogatory slur for a transgender person during a podcast, which she apologised for – has posted her take on Beyoncé’s ‘Break My Soul’ on Instagram.
The lyrics were switched up with Jess singing “everything great takes time”, seemingly in reference to her music comeback.
She sings: “Made a few cutbacks, had a few setbacks, girl had to realign. Thought I would react but I’m back on track, everything great takes time.”
She also captioned the clip of her dancing to the house hit: “Somebody asked me what I’ve been up to … @beyonce.”
Beyoncé is married to label boss Jay-Z.
A music insider had spilled in March: “There is no doubt that Jess is a force to be reckoned with in British music. Her songs have been wildly successful.
“But there hasn’t been a massive pick-up outside Europe. Now she feels like it is the time to branch out.”
Jess previously split from Atlantic Records and she’s now hoping to make a mark on the other side of the Atlantic, after signing with Roc Nation.
The source added: “She wanted to change up her sound and people should expect something different from her when she returns.
“But given her obvious talents when it comes to singing and songwriting, Roc Nation is confident there are even bigger and better things on the horizon for Jess.”
The singer – who released her debut album, ‘I Cry When I Laugh’, in 2015 – previously admitted that she initially struggled to cope with fame.
Jess became very conscious of her own appearance – and her perceived flaws – after becoming a well-known pop star.
The London-born singer shared: “I guess I’ve never felt that I looked like a pop star. I know there’s no defining image of what makes a pop star, but this industry makes you look at yourself so much more.
“You do photo shoots, videos, everything like that, and you have to look at yourself a lot.
“And so I ended up constantly judging my appearance, and that’s … weird. It made existing insecurities worse.
“You feel a lot of pressure from society to look amazing and be amazing at all times, and that’s not reality.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne wishes he could have been at the Commonwealth Games in his home city of Birmingham.
The Black Sabbath frontman, 73, who hails from Aston, Birmingham, was delighted to hear the band’s 1970 classic ‘Paranoid’ played at the end of Monday’s (01.08.22) games.
He captioned a clip of the TV coverage on Instagram: “This was played at the end of today’s #CommonwealthGames. I really wish I could have been there with you all. Just amazing for Birmingham!”
Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, 74, was joined by acclaimed saxophonist Soweto Kinch to perform the dream sequence, ‘Hear my Voice’ – which is based on the title track from 2020 film ‘Trial of the Chicago Seven’ – reimagined by local RnB vocalists Indigo Marshall and Gambimi at the opening ceremony at the Alexander Stadium last week.
Ozzy is currently recovering from a major operation at home in Los Angeles.
Along with Parkinson’s and a bout of COVID-19, Ozzy has been dealing with the fallout from a brutal 2003 quad biking accident.
He suffered neck injuries, which were later worsened by a 2019 fall that resulted in 15 screws being inserted into his back.
Ozzy said after undergoing the operation in June: “I am now home from the hospital recuperating comfortably.
“I am definitely feeling the love and support from all my fans and send everyone a big thank you for their thoughts, prayers and well wishes during my recovery.”
The ‘Dreamer’ singer admitted he is enduring a “slow climb back” to health.
Ozzy got back on his feet and was happy to meet fans at his first ever appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego last month.
He said: “It’s great, it’s great. I like to see people, you know. That’s been the hardest thing of the past three years, because I’ve been trying to recover from my surgery. I’m getting there. It’s a slow climb back, you know?”
And his wish of wanting to be at the Commonwealth Games comes after his wife Sharon, 69, revealed Ozzy is keen to move back to England after his latest surgery.
She said: “He’s doing okay, he sends you his love. He’s got one more operation left to do and then he’s dying to come back home.”
The talent manager and TV personality recently admitted she now has to care for Ozzy “a lot” because of his health issues.
She said: “It’s very difficult, because the combination of the Parkinson’s and his accident, you go, well, which one is this? Why’s this happening? Why’s that happening?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning will co-host the 56th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville.
The annual country music prize giving is set to take place at the Bridgestone Arena on November 9.
Luke, 46, served as the host last year, while former NFL quarterback Peyton, 46, will pop his CMA-hosting cherry.
The former shared the news while stepping in to host ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’ with Ryan Seacrest on Monday (01.08.22) in the place of Kelly Ripa.
The ‘Country Girl’ hitmaker “didn’t hesitate” when he was asked if they should get pal Peyton to share hosting duties.
He said: “Being a part of such a historical night that honours my peers and country music is such a privilege.
“When I was asked if Peyton Manning is someone I would consider co-hosting with, I didn’t hesitate.”
He added: “We have become great friends through the years, and what he brings to the table is gonna make it even more of a blast. I know he’s been to the CMA Awards before, but he’s never been with me. Hey Peyton, I hope you’re ready for the night of your life!”
The sporting legend – who is the second son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and the older brother of former NFL quarterback Eli Manning – said: “I cannot wait to head to Nashville and take the CMA Awards stage alongside my friend Luke Bryan. I am such a huge fan of Country Music, so to have the chance to stand among so many incredibly talented artists is an absolute honour.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John and ABBA’s Benny Anderson have recorded a live mashup of ‘Bennie and The Jets’ and ‘Chiquitita’.
The pop music icons, both 75, remotely recorded the piano parts of their hits before they were mixed together for use on TikTok.
The clip begins with Benny performing the opening keys to ABBA’s 1979 hit ‘Chiquitita’ before Elton comes in with his 1973 classic ‘Bennie And The Jets’.
Over on ABBA’s official TikTok, the clip is captioned: “Heard that ’Chiquitita’ was trending again…with @Elton John! #ABBA #pop #piano.”
The viral mashup comes after it was reported that Elton is teaming up with Britney Spears on a duet.

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Richards hopes The Rolling Stones will have recorded new music by the end of the year.
The 78-year-old rocker revealed he and his bandmates, Sir Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood, are working on new material, although he admitted he has no idea what form it will be released in.
Speaking to Matt Wilkinson for ‘The Rolling Stones: 60th Anniversary Special’ podcast on Apple Music 1, Keith said: “I couldn’t say what form things are going to come out. I hope that we’ll have recorded some stuff by the end of the year, and then, I mean, what do we do, stream it? I don’t know. Anyway, I just make records and then we figure out how they come out, right? That’s what I do.”
Keith previously revealed that touring drummer Steve Jordan would be drafted in to help the band finish their next album, following the death of longtime drummer Charlie Watts in August last year.
And, he explained that Charlie endorsed Steve before his death.
Keith said: “We do have a lot of stuff of Charlie Watts still in the can. We were half-way through making an album when he died…
“Of course, if we want to carry on recording, we’re gonna need drums, and it’s gonna be Steve Jordan.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Crosby has reiterated that he’s “too old” to tour anymore.
The former Crosby, Stills and Nash star, 80, had recently admitted he doesn’t have the “strength and stamina” to hit the road, and when one Twitter follower asked if he has any tours planned, he dashed their hopes.
The fan asked this week: “Any tour dates David Crosby?”, to which he replied: “I think I’m too old to tour anymore… sadly.”
The music legend’s last performance was in 2019, when he joined Shawn Colvin on stage for a rendition of the folk group’s 1970 hit ‘Ohio’ in Santa Barbara, California.
In May, Crosby told Colorado’s Golden High School journalism class: “I’m too old to do it (tour) anymore.
“I don’t have the stamina; I don’t have the strength. I’m not, because I’m 80. It’s because I’m old.
“Being on a bus tour is a daunting task. It’s very hard. It takes it out of you.”
David’s admission came after he was struck down with a nasty bout of COVID-19.
The musician has recovered, but admitted his battle with the deadly bug had been extremely unpleasant, adding: “It has been awful. COVID is a very weird disease.
“It makes you feel absolutely freaking awful. It has been thoroughly unpleasant … it’s no fun at all. You want to avoid it, if you possibly can.”
Despite admitting he no longer wants to tour, David is determined to keep making music and is proud to have made five albums in the last eight years.
He added: “It’s an absurd rate to be cranking albums out. The reason being, is that I’m gonna die. I mean, we all … everybody dies.
“I’m sure someone told you. And I want to crank out all the music I possibly can before I do. Now I’m 80 years old so I’m gonna die fairly soon. That’s how that works. And so I’m trying really hard to crank out as much music as I possibly can, as long as it’s really good … I have another one already in the can waiting.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Carly Rae Jepsen has announced her new album, ‘The Loneliest Time’.
After dropping the lead single ‘Western Wind’ in May, the ‘Call Me Maybe’ hitmaker has unveiled the upcoming collection, comprised of 13 main songs and three bonus tracks.
Alongside the artwork of Carly, 36, next to golden pears and white roses, she wrote on Instagram: “I’m quite fascinated by loneliness. It can be really beautiful when you turn it over and look at it. Just like love, it can cause some extreme human reactions.”
The songs were recorded in isolation amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
She said previously of the period of remote working: “The most awkward thing for me so far has been trying to do writing sessions over Zoom.
“You’re trying to spark creativity with, sometimes, a complete stranger. It’s just a really awkward beginning process. We’re staring at each other like, ‘Can I call you back when we each have some ideas?’ I’m always writing, chipping away at a couple ideas here and there. Right now I would say it’s been the most successful with my guitarist Tavish [Crowe], who’s based in Canada, just because we are really used to each other’s flow and I don’t feel self-conscious sending him a voice memo, even if it sounds crap. I know he trusts that we’ll get it to the right place.”
Carly teased that every song on the record sounds “completely different”.
She said: “Writing songs over Zoom has been an interesting challenge. I’ve been working with Tavish Crowe – luckily we’ve been collaborators for years, so we really know each other well.
“We have our own little baby quarantine album by now.
“When I don’t have an album immediately due, I just allow myself to experiment.
“If you heard what we were making you’d be like, ‘every song sounds completely different’ – and that’s the point.”
The LP is the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Dedicated’ and its 2020 companion record ‘Dedicated B’.
‘The Loneliest Time’ is released on October 21.

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Hoppus has put a stop to speculation Tom DeLonge is back in Blink-182.
Recently, Tom’s replacement Matt Skiba admitted he is unsure whether he’s still in the pop punk band, and then Tom appeared to hint he had re-joined on social media.
The 46-year-old Alkaline Trio frontman started touring with the rock veterans – Mark Hoppus, 50, and 46-year-old Travis Barker – in 2015, following the second departure of Tom, 46.
He remained in the group and went on to record two albums (2016’s ‘California’ and 2019’s ‘Nine’) with them.
However, he did not appear on their 2020 single ‘Quarantine’, which was released amid the global pandemic.
And when one Instagram user commented on Matt’s selfie with “no Blink content” and “the Blink guys don’t post pictures with Matt” last month, he replied: “Your guess is as good as mine.
“Regardless, I am very proud of and thankful for my time with Blink 182. We shall see…”
Then, over the weekend, eagle-eyed fans noticed Tom updated his Instagram bio to include: “I make music (@blink182 and @angelsandairwaves)…”
He also posted a black-and-white photograph of the ‘Feeling This’ trio and simply tagged the group in the caption.
However, taking to his Discord page, Mark insisted Tom has not returned and suggested his throwback post was for sentimental reasons as Blink turned 30 this week.
He wrote: “There is no news to share. There is no announcement. Today is thirty years of BLINK-182!
“If and when blink has any announcement about anything, you will hear it from the official BLINK-182 outlets. Not teased on a radio station like ‘tune in for a major announcement…Tom tagged Mark in a photo from two decades ago. (sic)'”
Mark did promise fans the trio “will tour again and when it’s booked and confirmed we’ll announce it.”
The updates to Tom’s socials also came after a Blink Funko Pop! collection was announced, including former co-frontman Tom.
The musician has long expressed his desire to return to the band in the future.
And last year, Mark insisted he wasn’t against the idea.
He said: “We haven’t really talked about that, but I’m open to anything in the future
“I don’t know how that would work if it’s all four of us. Like, we’re all going to live in the same house again?”
In 2021, Angels and Airwaves frontman Tom revealed he had started repairing his relationship with Mark after his cancer diagnosis.
He said: “The way the universe works is strange because I reached out to Mark because I needed him to sign this piece of paper that had to do with my divorce. Only because of that call did I learn he had cancer. And he told me on the phone. I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ And we weren’t really talking much at all, maybe once every couple of months, a little text here and there. But now, we talk multiple times a day. So it’s like we’ve been able to completely repair that friendship and really cut to the depth of who we are as people and what this is all about.”
The musician was declared cancer-free in September 2021, after battling an aggressive form of lymphoma.
