OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift is released a new album called ‘Midnights’ in October.
The pop star used her appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday night (28.08.22) to confirm plans for her latest record which tells the story of 13 sleepless nights and she later dropped the album’s artwork in a post on Instagram.
Announcing the new record at the awards show, she told the audience at the Prudential Center: “I had sort of made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this, I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand-new album comes out October 21st. And I will tell you more at midnight.”
In her subsequent post on Instagram, she added a picture of herself sitting with her head in her hands and wrote: “We lie awake in love and fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back.
“We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t – right this minute – about to make some fateful life-altering mistake.
This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face.
“For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve … we’ll meet ourselves.”
Taylor concluded: “Midnights’, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.”
‘Midnights’ will be Taylor’s first new album since ‘Evermore’ was released back in 2020. The post revealed there will be an A and B side with all the tracks titled by their number from one to 13.

OHMYGOSSIP — Madison Beer feels a “sense of release” when she writes about traumatic experiences in her songs.
The 23-year-old pop star recently released her new single ‘Dangerous’ and explained that she was inspired by a “very real emotion” that she has experienced and tried her best to “articulate it” through the song.
She said: “I feel such a sense of release when I make a song about something traumatic or difficult for me. I pulled inspiration from a very real feeling and a very real emotion that I have unfortunately gone through, and I was trying to articulate that.”
The ‘Good in Goodbye’ hitmaker – who gained worldwide fame when her track ‘Selfish’ went viral on TikTok back in 2021 – has previously dated the likes of model Brooklyn Beckham and singer Jack Gilinsky and explained that while it is “quite hard” to have had such public relationships, she is able to “cope” with the “crazy journey” through her songwriting.
She told The Daily Star’s Wired column: “It is really hard for someone like me who has quite public ex-boyfriends. People like to speculate, and they make TikToks, and then rumours start, so it can be difficult to combat those things. It’s been a journey, not only getting to a place where you can feel those emotions but then also getting it out there and having to read people’s opinions about it – and letting people have opinions on it. It’s a crazy thing, a journey for sure, and I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone. But [song writing] has been such a nice way for me to cope specifically. ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne plans to give touring his “best shot”.
The 73-year-old star is determined to return to touring, despite suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
He shared: “I’m saying to you I’ll give it the best shot I can for another tour. You have not seen the end of Ozzy Osbourne, I promise you. If I have to go up there and die on the first song, I’ll still be back the next day.”
Ozzy has relatively mild symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, but he still struggles with walking.
The music icon likened his experience of the disease to “walking around in lead boots”.
He said: “You think you’re lifting your feet, but your foot doesn’t move. I feel like I’m walking around in lead boots.”
Ozzy suffered a fall at his Los Angeles home while he was battling pneumonia in 2019. And at one point in time, he was left contemplating the worst.
He told the Observer newspaper: “It got so bad that at one point I thought: ‘Oh God, please don’t let me wake up tomorrow morning.’ Because it was f****** agony.”
Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in February 2019, which he publicly revealed in January 2020. However, his symptoms are said to be quite mild.
He previously shared: “I don’t shake at all. My Parkinson’s doctor says, ‘I’ve got to tell you something, I’ve seen all kinds of Parkinson’s but yours is the mildest ever’. I don’t even know how anyone worked out I had it in the first place.”
By contrast, Ozzy has really struggled with his spinal injury over the last three years. And he admits that his first surgery left him feeling fearful for his long-term health.
He said: “I was told, ‘You’ve got a good chance of being paralysed for the rest of your life’. You just don’t expect the surgeon to be a f****** butcher. I was left in agony.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears and Sir Elton John are set to release an extended version of their hit single.
The 40-year-old pop star and Elton, 75, recently joined forces to record ‘Hold Me Closer’, and an extended version of the track is now set for release, as well as a bumper remix package.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “‘Hold Me Closer’ has got off to a near- perfect start but now it’s about longevity. Due to streaming, songs can stay on charts for months or simply drop off after the initial buzz dies down.
“A few remixes and an extended version will help to combat that.”
Britney and Elton have already topped the charts in the more than 40 countries around the world.
And Elton recently suggested that their new single could help to boost Britney’s confidence.
He said: “She’s been away so long – there’s a lot of fear there because she’s been betrayed so many times and she hasn’t really been in the public eye officially for so long. We’ve been holding her hand through the whole process, reassuring her that everything’s gonna be alright.”
Elton believes the single could also help Britney to understand the “love” and “care” that fans have for her.
He explained: “I’m so excited to be able to do it with her because if it is a big hit, and I think it may be, it will give her so much more confidence than she’s got already and she will realise that people actually love her and care for her and want her to be happy. That’s all anybody in their right mind would want after she went through such a traumatic time.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sky Ferreira felt “trapped” as a young artist trying to break into the music industry.
The 30-year-old star was just 18 when she dropped her first singles in 2010, and she revealed how everyone was “trying to mold” her in a certain way.
Speaking to Nancy Sinatra for Interview magazine, she said: “In the music industry, everyone’s trying to mold you. They have an idea of what you should be.
“People get greedy. When I was younger, I got cornered in situations where it was like, ‘You have to do this,’ and I didn’t know better.
“It was just different back then… The internet was there, but it wasn’t this thing that people had figured out.
“I used it to my advantage – that really helped me get my stuff out. But I’ve been shelved so many times.”
Earlier in her teens, Sky used MySpace to release early material, before being “pigeonholed” into bubblegum pop image.
This year, she’s set to finally release her repeatedly-delayed album ‘Masochism’ – which was first announced in 2015 – after a “musical chairs” situation with her major label.
She explained: “One person might run the label, then another – they just switch seats. I wanted to try to have a better relationship with them originally.
“I wasn’t going to compromise, but I was willing to be a little more open, because I didn’t want to have a bad relationship with them. I wanted them to do stuff with me and give me a fair chance.”
Sky reflected on her own experiences in the industry, and admitted it’s a combination of sexism and coming into the industry at such a young age.
She added: “It’s a respect thing. A lot of it is sexist, but I also think it’s because I started when I was 14, so they feel like they can manipulate me, or treat me like a 14-year-old or something.
“I’m 30 years old now and it’s the same thing.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna has become the first female artist to earn Billboard 200 top 10 albums in each decade since the 1980s.
The 64-year-old star – who is often referred to as The Queen of Pop – achieved the milestone after her remix compilation ‘Finally Enough Love’ debuted at number eight in the chart.
Madonna registered her first top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart in October 1984 with her self-titled record, which went on to peak at number eight.
The 80s also saw Madonna achieve four other top 10s on the Billboard 200 with ‘Like a Virgin’, ‘True Blue’, the ‘Who’s That Girl’ soundtrack and ‘Like a Prayer’.
She amassed seven in the 1990s, including the likes of ‘The Immaculate Collection’ and ‘Something to Remember’, six in the 2000s, including ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’, and four in the 2010s, ‘Sticky Sweet Tour’, ‘MDNA’, ‘Rebel Heart’ and ‘Madame X’.
The other acts who have achieved the milestone of having Billboard 200 top 10 albums in each decade since the 1980s are AC/DC, Def Leppard, Sir Paul McCartney, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Robert Plant, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, and James Taylor.
Earlier this month, Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Freaky Girl’ became the first number one debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a hip hop song by a solo female artist without accompaniment since 1998.
The 39-year-old rapper became the first star since Lauryn Hill, with ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’ 24 years ago, to achieve such success, and ‘Super Freaky Girl’ also gave Nicki her first Hot 100 number one as an unaccompanied artist.
It is also her third Billboard Hot 100 number one, after she featured on Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’ in 2020, and she starred on ‘Trollz’ with 6ix9ine in the same year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Thee Stallion dropped her alter egos on her latest album ‘Traumazine’.
The 27-year-old rap megastar – whose real name is Megan Pete – ditched her Tina Snow, Hot Girl Meg and Megan Thee Stallion personas from previous releases as she felt it was time for her to tell her personal story as herself.
She explained in an interview with the new issue of New York Magazine – of which she is the cover star – that: “I had to be Hot Girl Meg at that time. I had to be Tina Snow at that time. I had to be Megan Thee Stallion at that time. I love this album because I feel like it’s just me talking. It’s just Megan. It’s not me having to be anybody else.”
She added: “I can’t just let everybody tell me what they think about me.
“I have to tell my own story the way I feel like it should be told. I can’t leave my fate in anybody else’s hands.”
The Grammy winner – who also revealed in the interview that she has landed an acting role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Disney+ series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney-at-Law’ – shared that ‘Traumazine’ is about her “facing the things that I’ve been running from about myself”.
She said: “Everybody has gone through their own trauma in their own way, and to me, ‘Traumazine’ is me facing the things that I’ve been running from about myself.
“It’s comforting to know that other people are going through the same thing that you might be feeling. When something happens to people, they feel like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is only me. This is not normal, or I’m probably the only person in the world that feels like this.’ But to hear somebody else talking about something that you’re probably feeling, it’s more comforting and more familiar.
“That’s why people resonate with hearing other people’s stories.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Arctic Monkeys have released their first single in four years, ‘There’d Better Be a Mirrorball’.
Alex Turner and co released the lead track from their forthcoming seventh studio album ‘The Car’ on Tuesday (30.08.22).
The piano-led heartbreak epic comes in at just under four and a half minutes long and sees the frontman sing about a breakup.
He croons: “You’re getting cynical and that won’t do.
“I’d throw the rose tint back on the exploded view. Darling, if I were you.”
The tune – which comes a retro-styled music video directed by Alex – is the first since the band’s 2018 LP ‘Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino’.
The ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ group will release ‘The Car’ on October 21, and frontman Alex teased the record will bring the group “back to earth” following the intergalactic sound of their last album.
Alex told The Big Issue: “I think we’ve got closer to a better version of a more dynamic overall sound with this record.
“The strings on this record come in and out of focus and that was a deliberate move and hopefully everything has its own space. There’s time the band comes to the front and then the strings come to the front.”
The record was made with their regular producer James Ford and recorded at Butley Priory, a converted monastery in rural Suffolk.
Alex – who is joined in the band by Jamie Cook, Nick O’Malley and Matt Helders – explained that the decision to snub a typical recording studio was inspired by legends of rock ‘n’ roll.
The 36-year-old musician said: “There’s a bunch of Led Zeppelin and Stones records where they were in this house in the country and then they went and sorted it all out and overdubbed it elsewhere.
“We went there in the summer, took all the equipment, got the raw material and then took it on elsewhere.”
The release of ‘The Car’ comes 20 years after Arctic Monkeys were formed in Sheffield and Alex wants the group to stay true to their roots.
He said: “You have to follow your instincts in the same way you did in the first place. In that way, it does all feel like it’s connected to us 20 years ago in the garage when it was pure instinct.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX admits the success of her last two albums is “quite stressful” because she has to top them.
The ‘Hot In It’ star earned a Mercury Prize nomination for her 2020 pandemic record ‘How I’m Feeling Now’, while this year’s ‘Crash’ is her most commercially successful record to date, having topped the charts in the UK, Australia and Ireland and earned Charli her first top 10 in the US and Australia.
‘Crash’ was her final record on major label Atlantic Records, and now the ‘Used To Know Me’ singer is feeling the pressure to continue the trajectory she is on.
She said: “It’s still a shock to me – and it’s quite stressful because I’m like, ‘Oh c***, what do I do now?
“I feel like the narrative around my work has often been, ‘She’s one step ahead’ or, ‘She’s pushing the boundaries and no one ever quite gets her.’”
She added to the BBC: “So to achieve these things feels really special and unique, and it’s something I feel like I’ve achieved with my fans.
“But at the same time, what does it mean for me?”
Upon the release of ‘Crash’, Charli declared that the music industry is finally “beginning to catch up” with her “a little bit”.
The 30-year-old pop star finally feels her future-leaning music is a “tangible genre” – not just loved by the “weird kids”.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, she said: “I’m on my fifth album in my five-album deal. I’ve arrived at this place where I’m incorporating all of the different things that I’ve done in the past into one body of work.
“I also feel like — and this might sound like a negative but I actually think it’s a positive — I also feel like we’re at a time in the music industry where the music industry is beginning to catch up with me a little bit.”
Charli explained: “We’re at this time now where being an artist like me is actually quite common and the norm and with things like hyperpop existing. It’s like that is now a tangible genre that not only weird kids who have great taste can understand but playlisters can understand or whatever.
“This album feels very cyclical in many ways … people can understand who I am now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Elliott says streaming services made Def Leppard a “cool legacy band”.
The ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ hitmaker has suggested that without the likes of Spotify and Apple Music, the glam metal group’s music might not have reached so many generations.
Speaking about the Rolling Stones continuing to pull in a range of ages at their legendary shows, he said: “I went to see the Stones in ’89 on the ‘Steel Wheels’ tour.
“It was great but as I kind of like to do, people watch, I’m wandering around going ‘Look at this lot.’ Half the audience weren’t born when ‘Sticky Fingers’ came out, never mind the first album, you know.”
The 63-year-old rocker always aspired to have the same enduring legacy as the ‘Satisfaction’ hitmakers, and he credits streaming platforms with doing just that.
Joe told Goldmine magazine: “And then I see dad, son, grandson and they’re all singing ‘Miss You.’ You Know, eight, 28, 58, and I’m thinking, I really hope this happens to us down the road. Different circumstances; there was no Spotify back then. So that was father to son to grandson sort of thing, you know? But I think Spotify, Apple, it doesn’t matter which streaming service it is. They have all helped establish us as a cool legacy band.”
Interestingly, the band waited to put their entire back catalogue on streaming services.
Part of the reason they waited was that they were holding out for a “fair deal”.
Joe explained in 2018: “We needed the right deal for the band. We weren’t going to be victims of the industry. We signed our deal with Mercury many, many decades ago when there was no digital part of the record deal. So when [our contract ended] in 2009, we were free to do whatever we wanted to do. We were so busy touring and not worrying about the back catalogue – because people were still buying CDs – that we weren’t sure about [embracing] streaming.
“We came to the conclusion that it’s not going to do us any harm, but the deal had to be right. These things just don’t happen overnight.”
The ‘Kick’ group wanted to ensure all of their music was available on each platform.
Joe said: “We didn’t want certain albums on one service and others through another one. So negotiating everything with different places just takes time, It’s not like a make-or-break thing, whether we do it or not. So we didn’t and just went off on our own.
“We were able to come to the decision that it was the right thing to do and have it all come out at once. So now you’ve got everything from the very first EP we did back in 1979 – which is what got us our record deal in the first place – all the way up to the last album that came out in 2015.”
Leppard is one of the biggest-selling groups of all time, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
Joe and co released their 12th studio album ‘Diamond Star Halos’ in May, which became a Top 5 record in the UK.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John wanted ‘Hold Me Closer’ to be fit for people drinking and dancing in Ibiza.
The ‘Tiny Dancer’ legend has reworked his iconic track as part of a new duet with Britney Spears, and producer Andrew Watt had reflected on the AGE-year-old musician’s instructions for the collaboration.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: “What Elton brilliantly said to me was, ‘Don’t put so much pressure on yourself.
“‘This isn’t the “New Tiny Dancer”; this is a fun, new version for people to listen to when they’re having a drink in Ibiza and dance to. It’s not serious.’
“I was like, ‘All right, let me f****** put that hat on: I’m in Ibiza. I got a f****** tequila in my hand. What do I want to listen to, but what still feels Elton?’ ”
Meanwhile, Watt revealed that Britney, AGE, was very involved in the creative process.
He explained: “She came up with her own ideas. She wanted to speed up the record a little bit, and we did that.
“She’s such a pro with dance music and understanding that kind of stuff and what works for her.”
When it came to recording the song, the producer revealed the ‘…Baby One More Time’ hitmaker just needed one day in his studio to nail her parts, and she was in tune enough to know when she needed extra takes.
He added: “She knew exactly what she wanted to do. She had spent tons of time with the record; she knew all the lyrics; it was, like, her thing.
“And it was really awesome to witness and see her be so powerful and crush it.
“She sounds incredible on the record, and she was involved all the way up until the final mix.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran has done “some” work on his collaboration with Cradle of Filth.
The metal band’s frontman Dani Filth revealed last year he and the ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker had exchanged emails about a surprising duet and he’s now shared a new update about the project, admitting they began working on a track but plans were shelved because of Ed’s touring and personal commitments, but insisted it is still going to happen.
Speaking to Knotfest, Dani said: “We still have yet to finish our song with Ed Sheeran. He’s done some of it, but then he had a baby, and then he got obviously sidetracked with that and doing whatever Ed does, which is play massive shows around the globe. He’s not at our beck and call. But he is gonna finish it, he assures me. Actually, I spoke to him quite recently.”
The 48-year-old rocker insisted there is no rush to release the track.
He added: “[It will be released] when it’s finished. We don’t know when it’s coming out.”
Dani revealed last year he and Ed had discussed writing together, and he wanted them to make a charity record.
He said: “I’ve actually been e-mailing with [Ed]… He actually touched base with me. I’ve been invited up to his place. Well, he said he could come down to mine, but I pointed out to him that I don’t own my own bar or village, and it’d be better if I went there.
“He said he’d do anything. Quite literally. He said he’s a massive fan. He seems like a genuinely very nice guy actually…
“I think the Ed Sheeran collaboration would be great fun. I think it’d be great if we did it for charity, because at least it would bring a bit of credibility to it. Because obviously to his public, it’d be, like, Oh my god, he’s got this weird comical guy,’ and to my public it’d be, like, ‘Oh my god, this is a bit weird, isn’t it? But I think that sort of thing nowadays works.”

The weekend saw many surprises, with Ed Sheeran jumping on stage with Bring Me The Horizon at Reading on Saturday (27.08.22) night.
The ‘Perfect’ hitmaker joined Oli Sykes and co to perform their heavy rendition of ‘Bad Habits’ during their co-headlining slot on the Southern leg of the dual-site festival.
Towards the end of their 15-song set, after delighting fans with tracks including ‘Can You Feel My Heart’, ‘The Best Is Yet to Come’ and ‘DiE4u’, BMTH introduced their special guest to the stage, and amid cheers and pyrotechnics, they once again performed together.
There were also surprise appearances from Loyle Carner, LYNKS, Pendulum and Wargasm.
And Fontaines D.C. invited a lucky fan onstage at Reading to play guitar on their track ‘Boys In The Better Land’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Goulding was a metalhead and “Kerrang! girl” as a teen.
The ‘Easy Lover’ hitmaker might be a pop star with a penchant for a ballad, but she is a rocker at heart and can’t wait to get “shredding” the guitar on her next tour.
She said: “I’m going to play guitar pretty much the majority of the set when I start touring next year, because my album is coming out at the beginning of next year. Then I’ll have a year of festivals, I hope. That’s the plan for me. I am going to play guitar for most of it, which will just require a good amount of rehearsals. I’d love to get to a point where it’s just all natural to me. I’ve been doing a few tours with no guitar. It’s weird, but I guess I was more focused on singing.”
Reeling off the list of bands she loves, including System of a Down, Deftones and Spineshank, Ellie confessed she was never into indie bands growing up.
In an interview with Bustle, she said: “God, so many. I like System of a Down and a bit of Deftones — I love their song ‘Passenger’ with Maynard James Keenan from Tool. There was Killswitch Engage and Spineshank. [Laughs] I remember Spineshank. I basically bought Kerrang! every week and NME sometimes, but at the time I wasn’t an NME girl because I didn’t really love indie bands that much. It was always the Strokes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I love that band Glassjaw, more like hardcore. I was a proper Kerrang! girl.”
Her guitar heroes are Tom Morello, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton – though she branded the latter “a bit of a d***”.
Elsewhere, the ‘Lights’ hitmaker recalled being made to feel “really insecure” about her singing voice after she was told to “stick to playing guitar” because her vocals are “not to everyone’s taste”.
Asked if she’s always been a confident singer, she said: “No. I’ve always remembered this guy telling me I should stick to playing guitar because I’m really good at guitar, that my voice was really quite unusual and not to everyone’s taste. It made me really, really insecure. I wasn’t really the kind of person to be like, ‘Everyone can f*** off, because I’m going to sing anyway!’ I was really affected by what other people thought of me. I had impostor syndrome; I didn’t think I deserved any success. When you begin to shave off other people’s opinion of you rather than your opinion of yourself, your life becomes a lot clearer.”

OHMYGOSSIP — M.I.A. has claimed she waited two years for Doja Cat to record her verse for their collaboration.
The 42-year-old star has vowed to release her album ‘Mata’ in September, even if she has to “leak it myself”, as she claimed a number of her featured artists, also including Nicki Minaj, have taken their time sending her their parts adding to the delay.
M.I.A. – whose real name is Mathangi Arulpragasam – wrote on her Instagram Story: “Coming soon I promise.
“I had to wait 2 years for a Doja Cat verse…. Then a Nicki one… Then a…. Never mind.
“If Mata isn’t out [September] I will leak it myself.”
She also posted a preview of a new song on her page.
So far, fans have heard the lead single ‘The One’ and ‘Popular’, while another unreleased track featured on the Netflix show ‘Never Have I Ever’.
The ‘Paper Planes’ singer previously described ‘Mata’ as a “clash” of “your ego and spirituality”.
She said: “I think there’s a bit of a battle on the record.
“There is a bit of a clash, but the clash is like your ego and spirituality. Those are the clashes. Because as a musician, you need some ego, otherwise you can’t do it.”
‘Mata’ is the long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s ‘AIM’.
However, M.I.A. has released a slew of singles, including ‘P.O.W.A.’ and ‘Babylon’.
The trailblazing artist also earned her first number one thanks to a feature on Travis Scott’s ‘Franchise’.

The spooktacular – which is sponsored by VOXI, the mobile network with Unlimited Social Media powered by Vodafone – is returning to the OVO Arena Wembley on October 28.
And the new names added to the star-studded line-up also include A1 x J1 and special guest performers Diversity.
Reformed hip-hop group N-Dubz, Garage King Craig David and ‘Don’t Call Me Up’ hitmaker Mabel were previously confirmed.
Plus, Nathan Dawe and Bad Boy Chiller Crew, with more names to be added yet.
The new additions were announced by Diversity’s very own Jordan and Perri on the KISS Breakfast show.

Each year, the artists get into the Halloween spirit by transforming into other celebrities.
Previously, Rita Ora has gone dressed as Post Malone and Anne-Marie as Billie Eilish.
