OHMYGOSSIP — Yungblud loves pop stars like Harry Styles and Lizzo – but he’s here to “rip up” the rulebook of the music industry.
The 25-year-old star is back with his third studio album – the self-titled ‘YUNGBLUD’ – and he’s declared he’s “here to get in trouble” and not chase hits.
In a candid interview with The Sun newspaper, he said: “I’m kicking against the bear and that’s the difference between me and other artists. I’m not sat with the label deciding which song is a hit. I’m kicking against ignorance and the message is what matters in my songs.
“I love pop stars like Ariana Grande, love Harry and Lizzo. I love them but they say nothing and everything all at the same time. That’s not a bad thing, but I’m here to go over the edge. I’m here to get in trouble.
“I’m not here to play the music industry game and get to the top. I’m here to rip it up. I’m not here to be nice, I’m here to say something. Yungblud is putting the microscope on this generation.”
That doesn’t mean to say he’s not a fan of pop music, and the ‘I Don’t Feel Like Feeling Sad Today’ singer believes he and ‘As It Was’ hitmaker Harry are destined to meet as they are similar in many ways – though he quipped he’s the “naughty one”.
The ‘Fleabag’ rocker relates to the former One Direction star because both have faced questions over their sexualities.
He said: “I see a lot of similarities between me and Harry although I’m naughty and he’s nice.
“He has questions about his sexuality and what type of music he fits into. I love what he’s doing — it’s cool and he’s building a place of love and that’s fine by me. I also love that he’s acting as well as singing.
“I think it’s only a matter of time before we meet and we’ll really get on.”
Yungblud – whose real name is Dom Harrison – insists he simply wishes not to be “defined” as he compared himself to the likes of the late David Bowie and Lady Gaga.
He said: “I’ve heard, ‘Yungblud’s saving rock music, Yungblud is a punk and Yungblud is a queer icon’.
“Well, I’m not. I’m just f****** me. Like David Bowie and Lady Gaga, I can’t be defined. Yungblud is about freedom and I am finally free after making this album.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Matty Healy felt “sexualised” by The 1975 fans.
The ‘I’m In Love With You’ singer has opened up about how he hadn’t dealt with some “early sexual experiences” that were traumatic for him, and when his band became desirable it impacted his mental health.
He said: “F*** it, I’ve never said this before, but I’ll be totally honest with you. I’m not going to be specific, but I had some early sexual experiences that, as I got older, were really, really difficult to deal with. It wasn’t to do with anything that happened in my family or at home, it was these … different things that happened. So my mental health had come through the negotiation of sex as a teenager and a young man, and romantic relationships.”
The 33-year-old star – who recently broke up with fellow music star FKA twigs – struggled having romantic relationships and major moments in the band’s career would pass him by because he couldn’t be “in the moment” because he’d be worrying over things he’d done in the past.
In an interview with The Guardian, Matty shared: “People were having a romantic relationship with the band, I was sexualised to a certain extent; it was sexy, in the way that leather jackets and smoking and all that kind of s*** was sexy. And I think [I had] an inner dialogue where I just hadn’t dealt with things, I probably hadn’t done the right amount of therapy. It’s hard to have romantic relationships with people when you’re on tour, so the one part of my life that I found difficult got really hard, and I would focus on it, so I would never be in the moment. I’d be on the side of the stage in Madison Square Garden, thinking about this one thing that I’d done in a relationship or something like that.
On how bad it impacted his mental health, the former heroin addict went on: “I used to get really defensive about the word ‘depressed’ back in the day because my mum was clinically ill – f****** hell, mate, if you’d seen depression, you’d know it. And I feel like that a bit about trauma – I don’t want to gatekeep trauma, but … I was really traumatised.”
However, the ‘Chocolate’ hitmaker – who once tried equine therapy with horses to help beat his addiction – says he’s never been better thanks to therapy and rehab.
Matty added that he’s “much more happy in myself nowadays.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson admits he was chasing a radio hit with ‘Just Hold On’.
The former One Direction star is “immensely proud” of his 2016 debut solo single with world-famous DJ Steve Aoki, however, he felt he “had to” go after a hit.
The 30-year-old star has just returned with his new single, ‘Bigger Than Me’, the lead track from his second solo LP ‘Faith in the Future’, which still has “dance elements”, but he hopes it comes across in an “authentic way” this time around.
In an interview with The Official Charts Company, he said: “There are a couple of more dance-leaning tunes on this record. I was so particular on the first record that I wanted to be seen in a certain light and it had to be organic and credible. Of course, those things are still vitally important to me, but I’ve given myself more freedom.
“I loved DMA’s last album ‘THE GLOW’, which Stuart Price produced. That has dance elements in it but was done in a really authentic way. It doesn’t feel remotely contrived or like a f***** made-for-radio pop-dance hybrid. That was really food for thought for me throughout the process.
“Those moments across this record felt brave for me, because I dipped my toe in with the Steve Aoki track [2016 Number 2-peaking collaboration Just Hold On]. That’s a song I’m immensely proud of, but if I’m being completely honest it was me playing for radio. It was something I felt I had to do. These songs come from a different place. Yes, I’m using dance elements, but I hope it’s done in an authentic way.”
However, the guitar is still the most prominent instrument, with Louis working with guitar band the DMA’s, Courteeners’ Joe Cross, and more on the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Walls’.
He said: “The fans won’t be surprised that the guitars are the most prevalent instrument across this record. That won’t surprise my fans, but it might surprise other people.”
‘Faith in the Future’ is released on November 11.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran wants to match Coldplay’s success.
The 31-year-old musician admitted he won’t feel like he has “made it” in the music industry until he is as successful as Coldplay and U2.
Speaking to Access Creative College, where he is a patron, Ed said: “My next milestone is … Coldplay have done 20 years, so I would love to get to 20 years in my career. I feel like that’s an achievable milestone. But it’s still quite scary because it’s a long way away.”
Ed revealed he admires U2 and Coldplay because of the sheer number of hits they have had over the course of their careers.
He explained: “I’m very young in my career compared to someone like U2 or Coldplay, but U2 and Coldplay are two acts I look at avidly.
“All of their set is going to be hits. They are never going to play a B-side that people kind of know, and it’s always going to be a very impressive show. It’s just bigger, bigger, bigger, better, better, better.”
Meanwhile, Ed – who has daughters Lyra and Jupiter with wife Cherry Seaborn – previously revealed he plans to cut back on touring after becoming a dad.
He said: “I would hate to get to 20 years’ time and have a relationship with my kids that had suffered because I’d chosen work over them.
“I honestly think that this next tour that I’m going on, at the end of the tour, I can’t see myself going on one of them like that again.
“I want to put as much time into my kids as possible.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Mustaine won’t hang up his guitar until he physically can’t play anymore.
The Megadeth axe-slayer battled throat cancer in 2019, and even when he was going through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, he was still working on the band’s latest album, ‘The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!’, because it distracted him from his treatment.
However, the hardest part of all was dealing with “chemo brain”.
He told Total Guitar magazine: “I think it did (distract him), to a degree.
“The toughest part wasn’t the process of going through all the radiation and chemotherapy, a lot of the cancer medication they gave me f***** with my memory really bad.
“They call it chemo brain, so I’ve been having a hard time staying in the moment, but it’s getting better.”
And when asked whether he’s thinking of retiring, the 60-year-old thrash metal legend insisted while he can still pick up and play his instrument, he’ll keep shredding.
He replied: “When I got sick I had been talking a lot about playing out a little less.
“Now, if anything, I want to tour more and just carry on until the end when I actually can’t do it anymore.
“I’m not talking about the time when I don’t want to do it anymore.
“I mean when it’s not possible for me to do.
“When I can’t do it, that’s when I’m not gonna want to do it.”

The former One Direction star has announced he will release the 14-track LP – the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Walls’ – on November 11.

Louis, 30, recently finished work on his second solo album.
The pop star also revealed that he enjoyed recording ‘Faith In The Future’ much more than his debut record.

“There was just so many different opinions on the first album and me trying to find my feet coming out of a band the size of One Direction, so there was just so much going on in my head.”
The ‘Just Hold On’ singer also admitted that he still feels under pressure as a solo artist.
The singer enjoyed phenomenal success as part of One Direction, but he confessed that he’s still establishing himself as a solo artist.
Louis – who starred in the chart-topping band alongside Niall Horan, 28, Liam Payne, 29, Harry Styles, 28, and 29-year-old ex-member Zayn Malik – said: “There’s still pressure obviously for me to deliver a good record … and me trying to find my feet coming out of a band as big as One Direction.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Bush has topped Spotify’s Songs of Summer List for 2022.
The 64-year-old singer enjoyed a career resurgence when her 1985 track ‘Running Up that Hill (A Deal With God’) was used in a season four episode of hit Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’ and now the streaming giant has revealed that the ballad was played 45 million times over the summer in the UK and was discovered by 90million new listeners worldwide.
In a press release, Spotify said: ‘Topping the UK’s list is none other than Kate Bush with the revival of her 1985 track ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)’ which saw more than 45M plays by Brits. Just like a Stranger Things portal to the Upside Down.
‘Kate Bush’s track was opened up to a whole new generation after featuring in the hit Netflix show. Not just popular in the UK, the first time streams of the song rose by 7,825% in the US and has been discovered by 90M new listeners globally.’
Meanwhile, ex-One Direction star Harry Styles, 28, has become the most-streamed artist globally throughout the summer, with his single ‘As It Was’ having been streamed a total of 610 million times since counting for the lists began in May 2022.
The ‘Watermelon Sugar’ hitmaker also appeared once more on the Top 20 global lists, with his song ‘Late Night Talking’ reached number 13 and Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God’) was named the second-most streamed song globally.
Other top tracks of the summer in the UK include Beyonce’s latest single ‘BREAK MY SOUL’ – which landed at number 7 on the most-streamed songs behind ‘Heat Waves by Glass Animals’ – while Lizzo’s ‘About Damn Time’ just missed out on a place in the Top 3 behind ‘Afraid to Feel’ by LF System.
The list of most-streamed songs globally was made up with the likes of ‘Me Porto Bonito’ by Bad Bunny, while ‘Bam Bam’ by Ed Sheeran and Camila Cabello just etched its way into the Top 20, ahead of ‘Cold Heart’ by Dua Lipa and Elton John and ‘I Ain’t Worried’ by One Republic.

OHMYGOSSIP — Diddy’s “dreams finally [came] true” this week when he went to the recording studio with Dr. Dre.
The ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ hitmaker has always admired the producer and was delighted to see his “genius” first hand when they got to work together on Monday (29.08.22) during sessions for an upcoming Snoop Dogg album.
Sharing a series of photos of himself and Dre in the studio, Diddy wrote on Instagram on Tuesday (30.08.22): “One of my biggest dreams finally came true. I remember the first time I heard @DrDre’s production. It gave me clear direction on the level of producer that I wanted to be.
“Last night, I got the chance to work with this man and to see his genius as he coached me through vocals. He reminded me of myself, but with a different style and way more focused. I gotta step my focus up! lol But it was a great experience and I thank God for it.”
Diddy expressed his hope that fans can have equally positive experiences with their own heroes.
He added: “I hope one day ya’ll get to have the same experience with someone that you always looked up to as a hero.”
The 52-year-old star’s team later clarified the pair had been working with Snoop.
In an email sent to HipHopDX, Diddy’s representative said: “The two music moguls came together to collaborate for Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated upcoming album with Snoop Dogg, who was also in attendance.
“Producing with Dr. Dre has been a long-time dream for Mr. Combs and the night was made even more special as he coached him through vocals.”
Snoop confirmed earlier this month he was working with Dre on a new album but didn’t want to give too many details.
He teased: “We’re cooking up a little something. I don’t wanna talk about it too much, but we’re back together again. It’s been 30 years since we worked on a record, and we’re doin’ something, we’re workin’ on something.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Goulding is set to be honoured with the BMI President’s Award at the 2022 BMI London Awards.
The ‘Easy Lover’ hitmaker is set to be recognised for her “contributions to the art of music and songwriting” at the ceremony at London’s Savoy Hotel on October 3.
Multi-platinum-selling pop star Ellie, 35, already has 16 BMI Awards to her name, and she joins the likes of Jay Kay of Jamiroquai, Noel Gallagher, Imagine Dragons, P!nk, and Brian Wilson as recipients of the prestigious President’s Award.
The private bash will also see acclaimed singer, songwriter, and producer Tems – who is known for her collaborations with Drake and WizKid – bestowed with the BMI Impact Award for “ground-breaking artistry, creative vision and impact on the future of music.”
She follows in the footsteps of RAYE and Arlo Parks.
BMI Vice President, Creative, Europe, Shirin Foroutan, said: “We’re thrilled to be back in person at the Savoy celebrating our BMI family of UK and European songwriters, composers and music publishers.

The 24-year-old rapper’s chart-topping LP ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’ has been nominated for Album of the Year at the ceremony celebrating the best in UK rap and grime.
He will compete with his ‘Funky Friday’ collaborator Fredo’s ‘Independence Day’, Knucks’ ‘ALPHA PLACE’, ‘Reason to Smile’ by Kojey Radical, ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ by Little Simz, M Huncho’s ‘Chasing Euphoria’, and Tion Wayne’s ‘Green With Envy’.
Dave’s Stormzy collaboration from the record, ‘Clash’, received nods for Track of the Year and Video of the Year.
He’ll compete with himself in both categories as ‘Starlight’ is up for the former and ‘Verdansk’ the latter prize.
And the star is also in contention for Male Artist of the Year, for which he will compete with ArrDee, Central Cee, D-Block Europe, Digga D, K-Trap, M Huncho, Potter Payper, Russ Millions, and Tion Wayne.
Aitch has also earned a slew of nominations with two tracks – ‘1989’ and ‘Learning Curve’ – up for Video of the Year and the formidable ‘Baby’ featuring Ashanti shortlisted for Track of the Year.
His pal ArrDee also landed three nominations, with the ‘Oliver Twist’ hitmaker also up for Mixtape of the Year for ‘Pier Pressure’ and Track of the Year for ‘Flowers (Say My Name)’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lola Lennox felt insecure about following her mother into the music industry.
The 31-year-old singer/songwriter is the daughter of Eurythmics star Annie Lennox, and she has admitted that the idea of becoming a singer like her mother was daunting at first.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine, she said: “When I was younger, I had insecurity around this. The bar felt incredibly high and it felt like i had to do a lot of work to get to a place where I was good enough to be an artist in my own right. But that made me work really hard. I got better as a singer and was able to write songs that I thought deserved to be heard. So I feel like I’ve worked through it.”
And Lola even convinced her mother to work with her on her new song ‘Want More’.
She said: “She’s always great with ideas and I’ve learnt a lot from seeing her come in and make a song better.
“We could have bickered. But we’re pretty respectful and good at being professional together. Every mum and daughter have their moments obviously. But we’re both empathetic people. We listen to each other and respect each other and we’ve always been like that.
“She’s been such an inspiration. She knows this path so well, she’s been doing it for so long and she works really hard.”
Lola’s father is Uri Fruchtmann and her sister is model Tali Lennox but she says they were not a starry family growing up.
She said: “[My mother] doesn’t feed into the celebrity lifestyle. She was just like a normal mum, never in front of the cameras much. I’m proud of her for the balance she found between working and being a parent. When we were little, she didn’t tour for a long time. It wasn’t until I was about ten that she started again.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Madison Beer started crying during Reading and Leeds Festival rehearsals.
The 23-year-old singer/songwriter admitted her new track ‘Dangerous’ makes her so emotional, that she broke down when rehearsing it for her upcoming festival appearances this weekend.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It wasn’t written about a break-up, it was about something else, funnily enough.
“About having this long-term relationship with somebody and feeling like they just moved on and forgot about you.
“When I was in rehearsals for Reading and Leeds and doing this song, I was definitely crying for a lot of it, so I am anticipating some tears for the festival. But it is what it is.
“I’m happy I have an outlet where I can articulate these things.
“I feel like I can do it in a healthy way and it definitely feels like a release.”
Madison has also promised fans that her next album is completed and is on the way.
She said: “The next album is done and it is on the way. I’m hoping for a January release and I’m very, very proud of it.”
Meanwhile, Madison isn’t planning to get too wild over the weekend, admitting that she doesn’t enjoy drinking.
She said: “I really don’t drink, kind of ever. But when I do, I do drink beer.
“It’s not just because it’s my last name. I don’t like hard alcohol, I can’t do it. I like Mexican beers.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nile Rodgers says the biggest piece of advice he’d offer to anyone in the music business is not to be a “music snob”.
The ‘Le Freak’ hitmaker – who has worked with the likes of Madonna, David Bowie and Sister Sledge among many more – insists having a chart hit should always be an artist’s main goal, not to create songs they think are cool.
Taking part in the Vogue Visionaries series with rising pop star Rina Sawayama, the Chic guitarist said: “Any song, and I mean any song, in the Top 40 is a great composition, because it speaks to the souls of a million strangers.”
And ‘Chosen Family’ singer Rina couldn’t agree more, adding: “Pop records that can make a million strangers feel good are magic.”
Rina also imparted that writing a good song is far more important than image.
She said: “Let’s write a good song first.”
Meanwhile, Rina recently branded the infamous Christina Aguilera vs Britney Spears rivalry “so silly”.
The ‘Beg For You’ singer says the music industry has come a long way since artists were pitted against each other and there’s a “space for everybody” due to streaming platforms.
She said: “It’s easy to start to buy into that narrative so much that if you don’t do this, someone else will.
“But I try not to engage in that anymore.”
Commenting on the feud that was heightened in the press, Rina said: “It’s silly.
“We should all support each other as there is a space for everybody, especially because of streaming.”
In 2018, Christina admitted she felt “hurt” when she was pitted against Britney.

OHMYGOSSIP — Garth Brooks says fans sharing their personal stories about his songs with him gives him a better feeling than winning a Grammy.
The country music megastar – who, in 2012, surpassed The Beatles as the top-selling act of the past 20 years – is a two-time Grammy Award winner but he insists nothing can beat the thrill of fans telling him they’ve played his music at significant moments in their lives.
He told RSVP Country magazine: “Yeah, a Grammy is cool but then you are shopping with your wife and this guy comes up to you, starts talking to you and then all of a sudden his eyes start to water up because he played ‘The Dance’ at his son’s funeral.
“As much as you don’t want to hear that that happened, the fact that you had something to do with what was chosen for that moment … remember that I am a fan too and I want to tell James Taylor what he means to me and if people think of me the way I think of him then holy cow, that is the greatest compliment you can give somebody.”
Garth is returning to play Dublin’s famous Croke Park stadium for three nights in September, 25 years after last played the Irish venue in 1997.

OHMYGOSSIP — Usher has enjoyed “indulging” in Las Vegas.
The ‘My Boo’ hitmaker announced earlier this week he will be extending his residency at Park MGM, adding another 25 shows between March and July 2023, and he admitted he loves being based in Sin City because there are so many opportunities to have fun, though he insisted he doesn’t overdo it because of his professional commitments.
He said: “I’m doing everything in Vegas. Unfortunately I must say that it does accommodate all of the lifestyle of who I am and what I enjoy. It’s sitting at the crap table or playing a little blackjack, going out to the club a little bit, but I still have the ability to do all the other things that I love as well. [Like] eating some good food.
“It’s hot as hell out here, that’s the one thing that I’ve had to get used to, it’s extremely dry. But I do, I do indulge and have fun in Sin City. OK. Not too much. Because I still have the obligation of making sure that I show up and enjoy myself on stage.”
The ‘OMG’ singer has enjoyed seeing a diverse crowd at his shows, and admitted the appeal of being based in Las Vegas is it has helped him strike a great balance with his personal and professional lives.
He told the ‘People Every Day’ podcast: “Having an audience come to you is always great. I love the fact that I’ve been able to really celebrate all of the years of my music and see a very mixed, eclectic crowd of people. But I think more than anything, the fact that it fits my lifestyle.
“I’ve been able to still focus on the things that I love, that are creative, that are kind of ancillary to what I do in music. Whether it’s in film or rather in production or working with other artists and still have family time, but yet still do what I love, which is performing.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Fripp has quipped that he was put off heavy metal when George Lynch tried to “steal his girlfriend”.
The only surviving member of prog rock group King Crimson says the blues stole his heart and he never felt the urge to try out his metal chops because he felt a lot of the acts coming out of Hollywood were phony – and he wasn’t best pleased when the Dokken and Lynch Mob rocker, 67, allegedly tried to flirt with his lover.
Speaking to Guitar Player magazine, the 76-year-old musician – who has been married to fellow music star Toyah Wilcox since 1986 – said: “I more or less decided that I would never develop those kinds of chops.
“For a good while, I sat on my parents’ sofa, playing my guitar and pondering.
“I’d just seen B.B. King – I even got a chance to meet him.
“There was something about the blues that had touched me deeply, because it’s a cry of the soul.
“It felt so authentic, especially when compared to the phoniness that was around at the time.
“I considered all that stuff out of LA to be contaminated by the ethos of Hollywood, and I didn’t want to be a part of it.
“On top of that, George Lynch tried to steal my girlfriend.”
