OHMYGOSSIP — Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Jim Root are planning a side project together.
The former infamously had his bandmate thrown out of his other group Stone Sour in 2014, but the pair have since healed their wounds and are closer than ever as they plan another venture together.
Speaking to the new issue of Metal Hammer, Corey, 48, said: “He and I are very different people and we were both going through our own s*** in life. We reconnected, and we’re actually talking about doing some stuff on the side, outside of Slipknot and Stone Sour.
“It’s cool to find your friend again and realise that you can find your way back to people that you care about. Honestly, I can’t sit here and say that I wasn’t responsible for some of the bad feelings. That can only come with self-reflection, and the fact that the things that were going on in my life rippled and affected other people. Once you own up to that, you can start to mend bridges by showing people that you are truly sorry.”
Jim previously admitted he and Corey would have “ended up killing each other” if he had stayed in Stone Sour.
Speaking in 2019, the 50-year-old guitarist said: “Corey and I are much closer now. It’s the best thing, me leaving Stone Sour. We would have just ended up killing each other and driving each other crazy. I can’t spread myself that thin.”
Jim admits, in hindsight, he had a “s***** attitude” toward his bandmates.
He added: “I needed it, this band needed it and Stone Sour certainly needed it. I just didn’t have the time to commit that I’d have liked. I think they were tired of my s***** attitude, that’s for sure.”
Slipknot are gearing up to release their seventh studio album, ‘The End, So Far’, on September 30.
The follow-up to 2019’s ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ is the last record in their longstanding deal with Roadrunner Records.
In December, frontman Corey promised fans something special, and insisted he loves the new collection “more” than their previous record.
He said: “[It’s] really good; I’m really, really stoked on it. I actually like this one more than I like ‘We Are Not Your Kind’, and I loved ‘We Are Not Your Kind.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams was shocked by his “awkward” time as a DJ in Ibiza.
The 48-year-old pop star arrived in the Spanish city back in August to play his first electronic music gig and while he had hopes of emulating the success of Happy Mondays star Bez but ended up Googling what to say while he was live on stage.
He said: “So I turned up at my fist electronic dance music gig, in Ibiza at a place called 528. I thought what was gonna happen when I did this dance project was that I was gonna be an audience member but on stage I just thought I was gonna be the Bez of this project, wander around, vibes, you know. What actually happened when I turned up to the first gig was 2,000 people faced the stage and just looked at me, barely any movement and it was so awkward, so awkward.”
I Googled, ‘What do garage MCs say?’ whilst I am on stage because I don’t know what to do! I’m like, ‘Inside, this one goes out to the ladies. Wait for the drop! I didn’t know what I was doing so I just repeated the top 10 things several times – ‘Inside!'”
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker went on to add that while he was initially confident at the thought of the gig, he was taken aback when he realised he would be playing in a space that resembled a “cloakroom.”
Speaking on the ‘Changes’ podcast, he told host Annie Mac: “I couldn’t believe how awkward it was! It wasa a shock, a shock. I was like ‘Yeah, yeah I will do this!’ Then they take you through to a back room and they go, ‘This is where you will be playing!’ I am like, ‘What? This is a cloakroom! I get it – it doesn’t matter who you are, this is where you start. But if I am going to do this, I need to be recompensed properly. I am not leaving the house for a couple of months to go and do this for it to cost me money!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Demi Lovato has told fans “this next tour” will be her last.
The 30-year-old singer is currently on the road for her ‘Holy Fvck Tour’, in support of her eighth studio album, but she took to her Instagram Stories to reveal she was feeling “so sick” she didn’t want to tour anymore.
In a since-deleted post, she wrote: “I’m so f****** sick I can’t get out of bed. I can’t do this anymore. This next tour will be my last. I love and thank you guys.”
Demi didn’t clarify whether she meant her current run of shows or a future tour would be her final gigs.
But she later returned to her Stories to assure fans she is going to “power through it”, ahead of going out on stage at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile on Tuesday night (13.09.22).
Demi posted: “Gonna power thru it for you guys [sick emoji] [black heart emoji] I’ll need help singing so sing loud for me bb’s!! (sic)”
She also wrote: “I barely have a voice, I’m gonna be pointing the mic to the audience a lot tonight. (sic)”
After the show, Demi thanked the crowd for “pulling through” for her.
The ‘Skin of My Teeth’ hitmaker posted: “You guys reeeeally pulled thru tonight.. thank you sooo f****** much – I love you more than you know (sic)”
Last month, Demi released ‘Holy Fvck’ – a follow-up to 2021’s ‘Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over’ – and admitted the album gave her the “freedom to express” herself in ways she “didn’t know were possible”.
In a typed-out note to fans on Twitter, Demi said: “HOLY FVCK gave me the freedom to express myself in ways I didn’t know were possible and find joy I’d been missing when making music.
It’s cathartic and grounded, yet exhilarating and a hell of a good time.
“I don’t know where I’ll be in life in a year, or in five or 10 years – but what I do know is that this record is exactly where I am now, and I am damn proud of it. I hope everyone who listens is too. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack White is releasing a live album of songs from his ‘Supply Chain Issues’ world tour.
The ‘White Stripes’ star has confirmed plans to drop a new record called ‘Jack White Live: The Supply Chain Issues Tour’ and it will include three vinyl LPs each featuring different songs from his shows as well as seven-inch vinyl featuring a demo version of his song ‘A Tip From You to Me’.
The record will also include a recording of White’s entire set from his gig at the Union Chapel in London back in July.
A statement posted on his website reads: “To celebrate the explosive run of shows, having received some of the most rave live reviews Jack has ever seen in his 20 plus year career onstage, Third Man Records’ 54th Vault package is dedicated to the best of the best, the 3xLP Selections From The Supply Chain Issues Tour …
“As should be expected, the cover art fits into the ten-years-running tradition of Jack White album single images that fit in neatly with each other … now totalling SIXTEEN entries into the ever-expanding, ever-impressive tableau.”
The package is available to pre-order through his website.
White’s tour began in the US before moving onto Europe and will end with a set at Australia’s Harvest Rock festival in November.
It’s been an eventful run of shows for the musician as he released two albums ‘Fear of the Dawn’ and ‘Entering Heaven Alive’ this year while he also proposed to his girlfriend Olivia Jean after performing America’s National Anthem at a Detroit Tigers baseball game in April. The pair married shortly afterwards.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Mercury Prize ceremony was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth.
The 96-year-old monarch passed away on Thursday (08.09.22) afternoon and shortly after the announcement was made at around 6.30pm, organisers made the decision to pull the plug on the event, although guests were already assembled.
Mercury Prize bosses said in a statement: “‘Tonight’s Mercury Prize event has been postponed at this time of great national sorrow. We know everyone involved in the Mercury Prize will understand.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with The Royal Family at this very difficult time.
“We will make an announcement regarding future arrangements as soon as we are able.”
Earlier in the day, the red carpet for the Mercury Prize with FREE NOW Awards Show at the Eventim Apollo in London had been cancelled after Buckingham Palace announced doctors were “concerned” for the queen’s health and had placed her “under medical supervision”, prompting her immediate family to make the trip to her bedside at her Balmoral estate in Scotland.
Sam Fender, Wet Leg, Harry Styles, Little Simz, Self Esteem, Joy Crookes, Fergus McCreadie, Gwenno, Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler, Kojey Radical, Nova Twins, and Yard Act had all made the shortlist for this year’s award, and 11 of the acts had been due to perform live at the event.
Harry – whose LP ‘Harry’s House’ earned him his first-ever Mercury nod – was unable to perform live due to being on tour in the US, however, the ‘As It Was’ hitmaker pre-recorded a special performance “to celebrate” his record, which was due to be aired on the night.
The judging panel – which includes musicians Anna Calvi, Jamie Cullum and Loyle Carner, and is chaired by Head of Music, 6 Music and Radio 2 Jeff Smith – commented on the selection for the Albums of the Year: “Getting down to 12 albums this year was not easy, simply because there were so many remarkable ones to choose from. That serves as proof that British and Irish music thrives during unsettled periods in history, with the albums chosen covering everything from imaginative pop to pioneering rap to Cornish language folk-rock. We feel that these 12 amazing albums each have something to say artistically and socially, all in their own unique, enriching ways. Now comes the really hard part… choosing only one overall winner.”
The 2021 Mercury Prize was awarded to Arlo Parks for her much-lauded debut studio album ‘Collapsed in Sunbeams’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi has teased he has “plenty of depressing ballads up his sleeve” as he releases the slightly more upbeat ‘Forget Me’.
The 25-year-old Scottish superstar is back today with his first new music in three years, and he’s quipped that he hopes it will stop those bored of his heartbreak songs from falling asleep at his concerts.
He said: “It’s a wee bit more upbeat than my previous numbers, mostly because, after touring the world, I noticed that my lesser-known slower tracks were making some of the crowds look like they were about to fall asleep out of sheer boredom.
“However, this new one is sad and fast, much like my lovemaking. Not to worry, I’ve still got plenty of depressing ballads up my sleeve.”
The ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker penned the lyrics in just two hours because he was itching to go to the boozer.
He said: “I actually had tickets to go and see Scotland vs Croatia at the Euros. I thought, you know, let’s hurry up and write this song so I can go to the pub. Maybe I should do that more often in the future as I wasn’t overthinking anything! It only took two hours or so.”
Although it’s more lively sonically, the track is still about dealing with a breakup.
Lewis is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s WIRED column as saying: “Let’s just be honest here, lyrically it covers a lot of the same ground as before.
“I meet lady, lady leaves me, I whine about it in a pop song. Textbook.
“It’s about a break-up I went through where, after a year, the only real contact I had with my ex was seeing her ‘post-me’ life play out on her Instagram.
“I was at a point where I was feeling pretty miserable and she seemed like she was moving on and having the best time, thriving and I hated it.
“It seemed unfair to me that she appeared happy while I was hurting, and I was fearful she might have forgotten about me completely, so I wrote a song about it.”
The BRIT Award winner’s first album, 2019’s ‘Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent’, sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.
Lewis has just been diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome and has vowed to retire from the spotlight if his new music flops.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne hadn’t heard of Taylor Hawkins before he played drums on his latest album.
The ‘Crazy Train’ rocker has released his latest solo album, ‘Patient Number 9’, and the late Foo Fighters sticksman – who died aged 50 in March – posthumously appears on a few of the songs on the record out today (09.09.22).
Although the Black Sabbath legend had never heard of Taylor, he was blown away by his skills on the drum kit.
Speaking on SiriusXM’s special episode titled ‘Ozzy’s Boneyard’ to celebrate the release of Ozzy’s 13th solo LP, the rocker said of Taylor: “He was a really nice guy — we both (Osbourne and producer Andrew Watt) were like f***, we couldn’t believe it.
“He was a great f****** drummer — a phenomenal drummer.”
In a separate interview with Kerrang!, Ozzy said: “To be perfectly honest with you, I’d never heard of him before he played on my album. But he must be good to play with Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters. When I met him, and from what I saw of him, he was a really nice man, one whose soul will surely last. I should imagine that everyone in that band was f****** devastated when the poor guy passed away.”
Meanwhile, the 73-year-old singer returned to the US stage for the first time in four years on Thursday (08.09.22).
Ozzy took time away from the spotlight as he dealt with his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis and spinal problems, but he made his comeback by performing at the Los Angeles Rams’ half-time show at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on September 8 to kick off the new NFL season.
He performed the album’s title track and ‘Crazy Train’.
It marked Ozzy’s first performance in the US since he appeared at the AMA Awards in November 2019 when he joined Post Malone and Travis Scott to perform their track ‘Take What You Want’.
The ‘Dreamer’ hitmaker – who had recently performed at the Commonwealth Games in the UK – has insisted he plans to hit the road once again for another tour.
He said recently: “I’m saying to you I’ll give it the best shot I can for another tour. You have not seen the end of Ozzy Osbourne, I promise you. If I have to go up there and die on the first song, I’ll still be back the next day.” Ozzy has relatively mild symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, but he still struggles with walking. The music icon likened his experience of the disease to “walking around in lead boots”. He said: “You think you’re lifting your feet, but your foot doesn’t move. I feel like I’m walking around in lead boots.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kasabian’s 2004 classic ‘Club Foot’ is EA’s president of music Steve Schnur’s favourite ‘FIFA’ song of all time.
The anthem from the English rock band’s 2004 self-titled debut album appeared on the soundtrack for ‘FIFA 13′, and it’s the gaming music boss’ personal favourite.
Schnur told NME: “The guys in that band are some of the most football-obsessed people I know on planet Earth.
“Just knowing how much FIFA meant to them personally… to them, it’s been: ‘How many times can we get [our music] into ‘FIFA’?’ It’s a measure of success to them, I just love it.”
However, he hailed Britpop legends Blur‘s ‘Song 2′ “the quintessential football song.”
On the football simulation game’s influence on music, he added: “[FIFA] has become the ownership of what football means to them, musically-speaking. We used to say that we’re following culture. [Now] we’re creating culture and, dare I say, we are culture.”
‘FIFA 23’ is to feature more than 100 songs.
After its release on September 30, EA will end its partnership with FIFA after more than two decades.
Schnur said: “The day [‘FIFA 23’] comes out, I start working on ‘EA FC’.
“There’s no break – actually, the break is now, because we’re locked and loaded. [But] then, all of a sudden, we’ll go, ‘OK! How are we gonna do something [that’s] never been done before with EA FC?’”
The gaming giant announced in May that its current licensing deal with FIFA for the official football game series will be no more.
Electronic Arts are swapping the title of ‘FIFA’ to ‘EA Sports FC’, having hinted at the change last year.
All the current game modes, football leagues, tournaments, clubs and athletes will be staying put for EA Sports FC.
Partnerships with the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, the MLS will also stay the same, with more on the way.
Fans will get more information about EA Sports FC in June 2023.
EA said: “We exist to create the future of football fandom – whether virtual or real, digital or physical, it’s all football.”
The Premier League’s chief executive Richard Masters added: “EA Sports is a long-term and valued partner of the Premier League, and we look forward to continuing to work together in the new era of EA Sports FC.”
FIFA has also announced that it will continue releasing football simulation games.
A statement read: “FIFA is currently engaging with leading game publishers, media companies and investors in regard to the development of a major new FIFA simulation football game title for 2024.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton and Kelly Clarkson have shared their new spin on the former’s classic ‘9 to 5’.
Their sombre new rendition features in the upcoming film ‘Still Working 9 to 5’, which is all about the blockbuster 1980 comedy film ‘9 to 5’, which Dolly starred in alongside Jane Fonda, Dabney Coleman and Lily Tomlin.
Dolly had said last month: “I was blown away when I heard what Shane [McAnally, producer] had done with my song.
“This arrangement shows how differently a song can be done and the story can be told in a whole new way. A special thanks to Steve Summers [Dolly’s creative director] for getting the ball rolling on this whole musical venture.”
Meanwhile, Kelly will lift the lid on her split from husband Brandon Blackstock on her new album.
The 40-year-old singer is preparing to release her first record in five years in 2023, and the new songs will focus on her heartache as her marriage broke down – with the star writing around 25 tracks a week in the aftermath of the couple’s separation back in 2020.
Speaking in an interview with Variety published this week, Kelly explained: “When my ex and I first separated, there were many emotions. It was hard. My producer and I were laughing yesterday because I was like, ‘Remember that time we wrote, like, 25 songs in a week?’
“A lot of those are the ones that are on the album. I literally wrote most of these almost two years ago. Then I told my label, ‘I can’t talk about this until I’ve gone through it’, and it’s just taken some time to do that.”
The ‘Because of You’ hitmaker insisted she wasn’t focused on her music for a long time due to other work commitments as well as raising her two kids with Brandon, but the divorce prompted her to get back to the studio.
She added: “I hadn’t really been working hardcore on an album until I needed to. I was just very busy. There were so many jobs, and I’m a single mom – well, even with being married, it’s a lot, trying to fit kids’ schedules in and all that stuff.
“But then the whole divorce thing happened, and I needed to write it. And then I didn’t know if I was going to release it, because you can be very angry in that state of mind. So some of the songs, they definitely cover the gamut of emotions; there’s everything on the album.”
The ‘Since U Been Gone’ star added of the new record: “It’s almost like the arc of a relationship, because the beginning is so beautiful and so sweet, and then it evolves. And sometimes it doesn’t evolve how you want.”
Kelly and Brandon married in 2013 and became parents to daughter River and son Remy before splitting in 2020 with the singer filing for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
The divorce was finalised in August 2021.

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwen Stefani ditched a whole album because she didn’t “have much to say”.
The ‘Hollaback Girl’ hitmaker – whose last solo record was the 2017 festive collection ‘You Make It Feel Like Christmas’ – has revealed she penned more than 30 tracks amid the COVID-19 “quarantine years”, but none of the songs resonated with her or had any real meaning, so she scrapped the lot.
The No Doubt star – who tied the knot with country star Blake Shelton last year – said: “I did go in during the quarantine years and I did write a bunch of songs, like 30+ songs, but I didn’t feel the passion that I’ve wanted to put it out.
“I also got married that year and I just wanted to be in the marriage and try not to do so many things at one time and just be realistic that there are only so many things you can do at one time.”
She told Forbes magazine: “I kind of put it on the back burner.
“I also feel like sometimes, I don’t really have much to say or I don’t know if I do – and so, I’m just going to wait and pray about it.”
The ‘Cool’ singer was struck down by COVID-19 in the early stages of the pandemic, which prompted her to cancel four shows in Las Vegas back in February 2020.
Gwen made the announcement as she returned to Sin City’s Zappos Theatre for her ‘Just a Girl’ residency in October.
The 52-year-old singer told the crowd: “I was the first one to have COVID, in case you wondered.
“I was in Vegas. Do you remember when I cancelled those four shows?”
Gwen added: “I would literally take people up here and make out with you. But… I gotta make it through the next eight shows.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ritchie Neville thinks the 1990s was the last “really defined era” in modern music.
The Five singer, 43, also believes there is a resurgence in interest in the decade’s tunes as nostalgia gives people “comfort” in times of uncertainty and instability.
He said ahead of playing the Reminisce ’22 festival – which is packed with other ’90s acts: “When you talk anything from the 20th Century, music was king in society.
“I think the ’90s was the last really defined era for music – like, if you say the ’60s, you can instantly think of loads of bands.
“It’s the same with the ’70s, ’80s and then the ’90s. After that it was a bit more androgenous – the ’90s was the last really defined era in music.”
The dad-of-one – who shares seven-year-old daughter Ella-Rose with his Atomic Kitten singer ex-partner Natasha Hamilton, 40 – added there has also been “enough time now” since the decade for the ’90s to be considered “its own thing” in music history.
He added: “You’ve also got younger fans who weren’t even around or who were babies in the ’90s that have got into its music because they like that sort of sound, just like you have people who like ’60s music.
“The ’90s is its own thing now.”
When asked if he thought the appetite for nostalgia in music was the rest of people finding it comforting amid upheavals such as COVID-19 and the global economic crunch, he said: “Definitely – for some people, definitely.”
The singer also said he was “really looking forward” to getting back on the road with his bandmates Scott Robinson, 42, and 41-year-old Sean Conlon.
He said: “We did play the Reminisce festival before, but it wasn’t in full operation because of COVID like it is now, so I’m really looking forward to finally doing a proper one of them.”
Five will also play the Reminisce 22 Festival in Sherdley Park, St Helens, Liverpool, on Saturday September 10.
Other acts include 2 Unlimited, Liberty X, Boyzlife, Fatman Scoop, Nadine Coyle and S Club Allstars.

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams “misses the days” of feuding with Noel Gallagher.
The 48-year-old singer was famously labelled the “fat dancer from Take That” by Oasis rocker Noel Gallager back in the 1990s and the comment ignited a feud between the pair, and Noel’s younger brother and former bandmate Liam Gallagher, which lasted for decades.
It escalated to a point where Robbie challenged Liam to have a boxing match with a £100,000 bet on the line at the BRIT Awards in 2000.
Although the slanging match between the pair has ended, Robbie insists things were more “fun” back then compared to now and says pop stars are not be “allowed” to create headlines like that anymore.
He said: “I think that we lived in a more fun time. It was more heady, more controversial, more saying things for the sake of grabbing headlines. You know, it was like wrestling – and I love that. It was a fun aspect of the industry at the time… wearing your spite on your sleeve. Wearing your opinions on your sleeve, be they toxic or not, is just more interesting than what’s happening now, or is being allowed to happen… I kind of miss those days. Even though that was aimed at me, it’s like… we’re not allowed to do that shit anymore and it’s a shame.”
The ‘Rock DJ’ hitmaker went on to add that there was “a lot of back and forth” over the weight jibe comment at the time but insisted he was never “hurt” by Noel’s barb and instead heaped praise on the ‘Wonderwall’ songwriter.
He told NME: “There was a lot of back-and-forth about a lot of different people. and it wasn’t that I was hurt that it was said; it was just annoying that it stuck. But, you know: Noel’s really good at that stuff. He’s said a lot of incredible quotes that stick. “He’s a great comedic writer and he’s got that sort of brain for those things that cut through the chaff and stay around.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Fred Durst warned Yung Gravy not to get too caught up in drugs.
The 52-year-old Limp Bizkit frontman offered the advice to the 26-year-old rapper when Gravy supported the band on multiple dates of their ‘Still Sucks’ tour earlier this year.
Yung Gravy told NME: “The band is really cool and Fred Durst is such a nice guy. The whole band is down to earth.”
“I think any artist gets the same kind of memo from a mentor, but Fred Durst, he was like ‘man don’t get too into drugs’. That’s what everyone says, and that’s what I’d say to anyone else [because] I’ve had phases before when I was too into drugs and drinking.”
Meanwhile, Fred previously revealed he has never touched drugs.
Speaking about fame, he said: “It was like shooting up. The needle’s in, I’m f****** going… not literally, because I’ve never touched drugs. It was crazy. Everywhere I go, I’m there in person, but I was carrying around this giant person behind me on a chain.
“I didn’t say no. I said yes to everything. I was just a kid from a farm in North Carolina, and I wondered how I was sitting in Hugh Hefner’s office. I never said no to anything but drugs. Everything else, I said ‘Yes’. No girls ever liked me and so when the girls started coming, even though it was superficial, I said yes. I said, ‘Bring it on!’. I couldn’t believe that all of these girls would sleep with me and not care about how boring I am. It was just yes, yes, yes to everything but drugs.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Garth Brooks broke down in tears as he took to the stage in Croke Park for the first of his five historic Irish gigs on Friday (09.09.22).
The country music superstar was overcome with emotion after finishing his first two songs, on his long-awaited return to the country.
He told the crowd: “We came back. I just want to enjoy this moment. I love you. I don’t know what words could describe this, and the return since 1997, so I’ll not try.
“I came here for one purpose and that was to raise some hell. We are going to play a lot of cowboy songs tonight, that is just what we do. Dublin this is what it is going to be like all night long.”
Garth played to an 80,000 strong crowd at the stadium show, with four more sold-out gigs to follow this month.
Garth will play to a total of 400,000 people during the quintet of gigs.
He delighted fans with hits including ‘Friends in Low Place’, ‘Rodeo’, ‘The Dance’, ‘Callin’ Baton Rouge’, ‘The Thunder Rolls’ and ‘That Summer’.
He also played Don McLean’s ‘American Pie’, Billy Joel’s ‘Piano Man’, and his wife Trisha Yearwood joined him for a performance of ‘Shallow’ from ‘A Star Is Born’.
Garth, 60, said: “There was a young lady who was singing back up here in Croke Park in 1997, her name was Trisha Yearwood. And she fell in love with Irish whiskey that night. I don’t know who is more excited to be here, me or her.
“She’s having some kind of spells with an inner ear issue, it happens every five years or so, but she is hoping she will be better for the shows, if not we won’t see her this weekend. But she is tough, she is an entertainer. So we will play it by ear.”
And fans were thrilled when Garth performed ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’ live and in full, for the first time in over 15 years.
He said: “Guess what ballad we haven’t played in 15/20 years…’If Tomorrow Never Comes’. And it may be the biggest Garth Brooks song.
“And if we did, it was just a snippet with just the guitar. The last time we did a big band thing to it, was this big ass place called the Point, so you think about it.
“But at the same time selfishly, it’ll be a joy to sing that song. It’s stood the test of time, and it is stronger. And it has travelled far and wide, so it has earned it.”
Garth will perform again at Croke Park on September 10, 11, 16 and 17, after huge demand increased the dates from two to five.
And Aiken Promotions boss Peter Aiken revealed the concerts are extremely important to Garth, after making history with his five-night residency.
He said: “He’s very aware of just how big of an event this is. This isn’t just a concert; this is a big event. Nobody has ever sold five nights at Croke Park.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Emeli Sande wanted to sing like Whitney Houston on her latest album.
The 35-year old pop star had just met her now-girlfriend classical musician Yoana Karemova when she started laying down tracks for ‘Let’s Say For Instance’ and admitted that she wanted to sound in the style the late powerhouse – who died in 2012 at the age of 48 following a drugs overdose – because of how much she was “falling in love” at the time.
She said: “You can get a lot off your chest [when recording]. I was falling in love at that point. It was in the summer of 2021 and we’d just been allowed to go out so that’s when we had the studio session. I got into the studio session and I was like ‘I wanna do Whitney, like I wanna really sing on this one’ because I’d been listening to a lot of her. And I was in love and when you’re in love, it just all flows out and you just want to send love letters to someone. It goes from this little private thing into this big song so I loved it,”
The ‘Read All About It’ hitmaker – who was previously married to lecturer Adam Gouraguine – then admitted that she prefers to wait until a record is finished until she sings new music for her, but did reveal that ‘Ready For Love’ is her girlfriend’s new favourite from the album.
Speaking on the ‘Dish’ podcast, she told hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett: “Well, she is an amazing musician so I usually wait til it’s like really finished because I don’t want her to be like ‘Mmm…you could have sang that better. But she’s always like ‘You need to sing! You go for it, sing! So when we were making it I said ‘I think you’re going like this one’ but I waited until it was completed until I showed it. And now she loves it. I think it’s her new favourite from the album.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Proclaimers want more “political” songs in the charts.
The Scottish rock duo – which consists of 60-year-old twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid – enjoyed their heyday in the 1980s along with fellow acts such as Communards and The Housemartins, with Charlie arguing that times are “just as turbulent” these days as they were back then.
He said: “Newspapers are dying on their feet, but it’s going online and people are still reading, so the press does have a great deal of power. I don’t know if it’s worse in Britain than in other countries but I think they have shaped the political agenda here and continue to do so. Frankly, I’m amazed because the turbulence of the times are at least as great now as they were in the late 60s, 70s or early 80s. In fact, I would say probably more. The dearth of good political writing, for want of a better term, there seems to be a lot of anger. There’s plenty of personal anger but but in terms of the more thoughtful political
songs, they are noticeable by their absence.”
Charlie’s fellow ‘Sunshine on Leith’ hitmaker echoed the thoughts of his twin brother, adding that he is “mystified” by the lack of political pop songs in the charts.
In the joint interview, he told Classic Pop Magazine: “It does mystify me, why there are no more political songs in the charts. I think with what’s happened in the last probably 15 years, you don’t have to be massively engaged in politics. You just have to have a passing interest. I think there’s so much you can write about what’s happening right now. I think it’s going to happen for the next few years, as well. I do find it strange there aren’t more people making political songs.”
Charlie concluded by claiming that someone like pop megastar Harry Styles, 28, is always going to top the charts but explained it would be “nice” to have other stars take songwriting in a “different direction” without worrying what commercial radio might think.
He said: “Harry Styles is going to be No. 1 no matter what, but it’d be nice if people could take songwriting in a different direction. Not for the sake of it, just because they feel it and they allow themselves to express that, without editing themselves or worrying about what radio is going to think.”
