OHMYGOSSIP — Red Hot Chili Peppers have released their new single, which pays tribute to Eddie Van Halen.
The group’s frontman Anthony Kiedis has praised the late rocker – who passed away in 2020 aged 66 – as “one of a kind”, as the band dropped new track ‘Eddie’.
The 59-year-old singer said: “Sometimes we don’t realise how deeply affected and connected we are to artists until the day they die. Eddie Van Halen was a one of a kind.
“The day after his death Flea came into rehearsal with an emotional bassline.
“John, Chad and I started playing along and pretty soon with all our hearts, a song in his honour effortlessly unfolded. It felt good to be sad and care so much about a person who had given so much to our lives.
“Although the song doesn’t speak to Eddie by name, it talks about his early days on the Sunset Strip and the rock n roll tapestry that Van Halen painted on our minds.
“In the end, our song asks that you not remember Eddie for dying but for living his wildest dream.”
‘Eddie’ features on the band’s forthcoming 13th studio album, ‘Return of the Dream Canteen’, which will be released on October 14th.
The group – also made up of Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante – had already released single ‘Tippa My Tongue’ from the record in August.
The Chili Peppers confirmed the new album in July, saying the upcoming record is “is everything we are and ever dreamed of being”.
They explained: “We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs.
“Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way.
“Once we found that slip stream of sound and vision, we just kept mining. With time turned into an elastic waistband of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking.
“It felt like a dream. When all was said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with.
“Well we figured it out. Two double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. ‘Return of the Dream Canteen’ is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It’s packed. Made with the blood of our hearts, yours truly, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyonce is reportedly planning to hit the road in 2023 for a ‘Renaissance’ world tour.
The pop superstar returned to music this year, storming the charts with her album ‘Renaissance’ and now a new report suggests she’s putting together shows and booking stadiums across the globe for next summer with New York Post gossip column PageSix reporting an announcement is due in the coming weeks.
The singer previously revealed the album is part of a “three-act project” which suggests there could be a tour in works.
Announcing the album back in July, Beyonce explained: “This three-act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative. Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world.” She included a special thanks to her three children, Blue Ivy, and twins Rumi and Sir, as well as her husband Jay Z and added of the record: “Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. “It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking.” She continued: “A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
Beyonce last toured in 2018 when she hit the road with her husband after releasing their joint album ‘Everything Is Love’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles and Florence Pugh have teamed up to release a song from their movie ‘Don’t Worry Darling’.
The pair collaborated on the song ‘With You All the Time’ with Styles adding piano parts instead of singing and the track being credited to their characters from the film Alice and Jack instead of using their own names.
The movie’s director Olivia Wilde recently explained how Styles had come up with the song, revealing he came up with the piano line that later became the focus of the song.
She told Variety he’d asked about the song and then quickly delivered his part. She said: ““In prep, Harry called me and said, ‘What’s the trigger song? Like, what’s the melody?’ I said, ‘I don’t know. I’m going to different writers to write it. Do you have anything in mind?’ And he said, ‘I’ll think about it’.”
Olivia then added: “Five minutes later, he sent me a demo from his piano, and it was what ended up in the film. He called me and said, ‘What about this?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s it. That’s it. And that’s really insane that you did that in five minutes.’”
Styles added of the song: “I wanted something that could be both sweet and creepy, entirely dependent on the context,” Styles says. “I remember first playing it on the piano, and it had a sort of homemade nursery rhyme feel to it. Applied to the different moments in the film, I think it takes on a couple of different lives – I hope.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Baz Luhrmann is hoping to release a much-loved mash-up of Elvis Presley’s ‘Viva Las Vegas’ and Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’.
The track featured in the director’s recent biopic ‘Elvis’ but didn’t make it onto the film’s official soundtrack, but Baz is adamant the fan favourite deserves to be released and he’s made a commitment to putting the song out there.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Baz said: “There’s a lot of love, a lot of intense love for the Britney/Elvis track in the movie, and it’s my commitment to try [to release the song].”
The track is a remix featuring both tunes and featured in the film during a montage depicting Elvis’ film career in the 1960s.
Baz revealed an official version of the remix is “perfectly done” and he is “just trying to sort it out” to get it released.
In a previous interview, the director compared the two stars and insisted there are plenty of similarities between them.
He told Rolling Stones: “Just like Britney, who makes the quintessential pop music of the nineties, you’re richer than God and you’re in the Hollywood bubble. That’s what happens to Elvis. He has gone from this rebellious, this punk who is doing radical music with his black music buddies, to suddenly isolated in pop in Hollywood.”
The ‘Viva Las Vegas’ and ‘Toxic’ remix would mark Britney’s second release after she was released from the conservatorship which controlled every aspect of her life and career for more than a decade.
She recently returned to music by dropping a collaboration with Sir Elton John called ‘Hold Me Closer’ – a reworking of his famous song ‘Tiny Dancer’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles was presented with a special banner as he concluded his historic run of 15 sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden.
The former One Direction star completed the milestone concert series on Wednesday night (21.09.22) and was given the honour of having a banner with his name on raised at the venue – with US TV host Gayle King stepping on stage to present Harry with the special gift which has only previously been bestowed on two other artists.
Gayle said: “We have a surprise for you, Harry! We’re all at Harry’s House right now. Fifteenth consecutive night, sold out show. “No artist has ever done that before. Twenty-thousand people, Harry, on their feet. We think you are walking joy, walking happiness … and we just want to say to you Harry, we don’t want to say goodnight to you, Harry Styles!”
The 28-year-old singer wiped away tears as he told the audience: “Any time that you come to Madison Square Garden and you see that, remember it’s because of you. That is ours.
“I’m gonna come back when everyone is gone, and just sit and look at that for a while.”
The other artists to have a banner raised in their honour at the venue are Billy Joel – who was given one for completing 129 shows there and a second which was given at the end of his monthly 83-show residency – and Phish.
Phish were given a banner after their run their in 2017 when they performed 13 sold-out gigs and didn’t repeat a single song across all the shows.
During Harry’s final show at MSG, he performed with Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes on ‘Matilda’ and he was seen being supported by his girlfriend Olivia Wilde who was spotted dancing in the crowd. She was also seen looking emotional as Harry wept on stage when he was presented with his special banner.
He is set to continue his ‘Love On Tour’ shows throughout the rest of the year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has written her first ever song with a swear word in the title.
The pop star is preparing to release her new album ‘Midnights’ in October and she’s been playing an online lottery game with fans to announce the track list with the singer videoing herself picking numbered ping pong balls which correspond to a track on the album – and on Thursday (22.09.22) she chose number number eight and revealed the title is ‘Vigilante S**t’.
It’s the first time Taylor has used a curse word in one of her song titles, although she has previously used profanities in her lyrics.
Taylor previously described the album as a collection of songs based on 13 sleepless nights over the last few years in which she got up to jot down lyrics.
Announcing the new project, she wrote in a statement posted online: “This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve… we’ll meet ourselves.”
Taylor plans to continue announcing the track titles in her ‘Midnights Mayhem With Me’ series on TikTok. She debuted the series on Tuesday (20.09.22) and confirmed the name of the 13th track on the album is ‘Mastermind’. She’s expected to continue releasing the videos until she’s named all 13 songs.
‘Midnights’ is slated for release on October 21.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Royal Albert Hall has had additional steelwork fitted beneath the stalls to strengthen the venue for future ‘Cirque du Soleil’ performances.
The legendary London concert hall – which is celebrating its 150th anniversary – has become the only venue in the world to have technology permanently installed in order to meet the demands of the elaborate stage design of the ‘KURIOS’ production, which comes to RAH on 13 January, 2023.

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams has a newfound appreciation for his own work thanks to his 25th anniversary album.
The 48-year-old singer has recorded some of his biggest hits for ‘XXV’ and he admitted looking back on his old singles made him realise just what he has achieved over the years.
He told BBC News: “I understand now why you mark anniversaries, you get to look back and go ‘Maybe I was closer to what I wanted to achieve than I first thought [at the time].”
And the ‘No Regrets’ hitmaker joked enlisting an orchestra for the reworked songs has helped give him “gravitas” and elevated the songs to something more than they were at the time.
He continued: “And then also, you get these incredibly talented people that play their instruments and form an orchestra and then the orchestra gives these frequencies that are angelic and Godlike and adds import to what could otherwise be throwaway pop records – I’ve got gravitas on these records now! I’m worthy!”
Robbie shot to fame as a teenager when he joined Take That and he will always be “incredibly grateful” that his career has continued for so long after he left the boy band in 1995 because he isn’t sure how he would have coped as a “has-been”.
He said: “My big feeling, my best years professionally could have been when I was 16 to 21 when I was in Take That. I know how fragile I am as a human being and to be a has-been or a was-was, or whatever would have happened to me after Take That, I’m incredibly grateful that the ship still goes forward.
“In short, I’m incredibly grateful, that’s what the anniversary has done for me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — A Lana Del Rey course is coming to New York University in October.
‘Topics in Recorded Music: Lana Del Rey’ will be offered at NYU from October 20 to December 8 at the Clive Davis Institute.
Kathy Iandoli, renowned music journalist, author and professor of Music Business at the college, is teaching the course.
A description reads: “Over the course of eight critically-acclaimed albums, the six-time Grammy nominated artist has introduced a sad core, melancholic, and baroque version of dream pop that in turn helped shift and reinvent the sound (and mood) of mainstream music beyond the 2010s.
“Through her arresting visuals and her thematic attention to mental health and tales of toxic, damaged love, Del Rey provided a new platform for artists of all genders to create ‘anti-pop’ works of substance that could live in a mainstream once categorised as bubblegum.”
The Lana course comes after a songwriting course based on the work of Taylor Swift was announced for this year at the University of Texas at Austin.
‘The Taylor Swift Songbook’ will be read alongside classics such as Geoffrey Chaucer, William Shakespeare, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge at the North American college, and will strive to “introduce literary critical reading and research methods-basic skills for work in English literature and other humanities disciplines” to students.
A description on the university’s website reads: “Focusing on Swift’s music and the cultural contexts in which it and her career are situated, we’ll consider frameworks for understanding her work, such as poetic form, style, and history among various matters and theoretical issues important to contextualisation as we practice close and in-depth reading, evaluating secondary sources, and building strong arguments.”
The’ Shake It Off’ hitmaker received an honorary doctorate from New York University after being recognised by the college as “one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation.”
Meanwhile, a separate university in Texas announced back in July that a course titled ‘Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, the Internet, and European Pop Culture’, will be on offer from 2023.
At the time, Dr. Louie Dean Valencia of Texas State University shared: “This course focuses on British musician Harry Styles and popular European culture to understand the cultural and political development of the modern celebrity as related to questions of gender and sexuality, race, class, nation and globalism, media, fashion, fan culture, internet culture, and consumerism.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stormzy is set to be honoured with the Diversity Champion Award at the 2022 AIM Awards.
The ‘Vossi Bop’ rapper will be presented with the accolade in recognition of his charity work and for using his platform “to level the playing field in the music industry.”
The rapper launched the #Merky Foundation charity and #Merky Books, the latter of which provides a platform for “underrepresented voices”.
And since 2018, the Stormzy Scholarship has awarded 19 UK Black students financial support to attend the prestigious Cambridge University.
The ceremony on September 28 will also see pop star Rina Sawayama presented with the Innovation Award.
The ‘Hold The Girl’ singer’s visionary work on her music videos and in the studio will be toasted.
Meanwhile, the nominees for Best Independent Video in association with VEVO’ have been unveiled as Arlo Parks’ ‘Softly’, Ibeyi’s ‘Made of Gold ft. Pa Salieu’, ‘3210’ by Jeshi, Wesley Joseph’s ‘Cold Summer’ and FKA Twigs’ ‘tears in the club ft. The Weeknd’.
And Best Live Performer will be contested by Ben Böhmer, IDLES, Mitski, Shao Dow and The Hu.
It was previously revealed that Lethal Bizzle will receive the Outstanding Contribution gong.
The London rap legend – whose real name is Maxwell Owusu Ansah – will also take to the stage at the ceremony at London’s Roundhouse, where he’ll treat the crowd to a set including ‘Rari WorkOut’, ‘Fester Skank’ and ‘Pow! (Forward)’.
The Grime superstar said of the industry recognition: “It’s nice to get your flowers when you can still smell them.”
The Libertines will also take to the stage on the night for an intimate performance, along with rising star Pixey.
FKA twigs, Dave and Wet Leg are among the most-nominated artists.
The ceremony celebrating the hottest independent acts the UK has to offer sees the ‘Killer’ singer and rap superstar Dave lead the way with two nods apiece.
Both stars will go head-to-head for Best Independent Track in association with Meta.
Twigs’ ‘tears in the club’ featuring The Weeknd, Dave’s ‘Starlight’ and indie duo Wet Leg’s ‘Chaise Longue’ will go up against the likes of Nova Twins’ ‘Antagonist’, Yves Tumor’s ‘Jackie’ and Wu-Lu’s ‘Broken Home’ for the prize.
Twigs is also nominated for Best Independent EP/Mixtape – a brand new category – for ‘CAPRISONGS’, while Dave’s ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’ is shortlisted for Best Independent Album in association with Spotify.
Twigs previously won Independent Track of the Year for 2014’s ‘Two Weeks’, while in 2020, ‘Magdalene’ was named Best Second Album.
Wet Leg – comprising Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers – will fend off Nova Twins, Knucks, Children of Zeus and Warmduscher to be crowned the top UK Independent Breakthrough act.
The Ones to Watch for 2023 are Barry Can’t Swim, Jeshi, Léa Sen, Nia Archives and TAAHLIAH.
BBC Radio 1Xtra’s DJ Target and TV host and presenter Joelah Noble will host.
Arlo Parks was the big winner at last year’s ceremony.
The ‘Hope’ hitmaker walked away with two awards at the annual awards ceremony after she was named the winner of the UK Independent Breakthrough Award and Best Independent Album for her much-lauded debut record, ‘Collapsed in Sunbeams’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Doja Cat was playing a prank when she claimed she’s releasing a 90s German rave-influenced album.
The ‘Kiss Me More’ hitmaker told an interviewer recently she is “very into this ’90s German rave kind of vibe right now and it’s really fun.”
She also said that was “kind of a hint” of what to expect from the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Planet Her’.
However, she has now taken to social media to correct her own claims and told her fans the LP will be a “straight-up R’n’B” record with “no rap at all”.
She tweeted: “I’m not doing a german rave culture album, you guys. I was pranking the outlet that interviewed me about it.”
Doja had said that while several artist have been embracing electronic influences – such as Drake on ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ and Beyonce on ‘Renaissance’ – it’s something she’s always been in love with.
She added: “I know that’s kind of the trend at the moment but I loved that stuff as a kid and now that I can express it (obviously, I couldn’t buzz my head and wear a furry bra and have a belly button piercing back then), I’m sort of embracing that.
“That’s kind of a hint to the album. Rave culture, not house.”
The ‘Say So’ hitmaker – who is yet to formally announce her next album – also revealed she’s currently having a studio built in her home, but for now she’s working in other locations.
She said: “There’s studios I go to; my friends have studios. I’m actually building a studio right now in my house, and I’m really excited about that.
“But that’s gonna take a little while, so for now, I have to go to certain places.”
Doja had also previously said the album would be “predominantly rap”.
She explained: “I’ve rapped since the beginning, and I really couldn’t even sing that well to begin with — I got a lot better. “I use my voice as a tool to create these worlds, and it’s fine if people think that I can’t rap.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift was presented with the Nashville Songwriters Association International’s Songwriter-Artist of the Decade Award at a ceremony on Tuesday night (20.09.22).
The 32-year-old singer took to the Nashville Songwriter Awards stage at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to accept the accolade, becoming the first female musician to receive the gong, and delivered a 13-minute acceptance speech.
Taylor – who has won the NSAI’s Songwriter of the Year prize seven times from 2007 to 2015 – told the crowd: “I’m up here receiving this beautiful award for a decade of work, and I can’t possibly explain how nice that feels.
“Because the way I see it, this is an award that celebrates a culmination of moments. Challenges. Gauntlets laid down. Albums I’m proud of. Triumphs. Strokes of luck or misfortune. Loud, embarrassing errors and the subsequent recovery from those mistakes, and the lessons learned from all of it.
“This award celebrates my family and my co-writers and my team.
“My friends and my fiercest fans and my harshest detractors and everyone who entered my life or left it.
“Because when it comes to my songwriting and my life, they are one in the same.”
The ‘Love Story’ hitmaker also revealed for the first time that she breaks her lyrics down into genre categories, “quill”, “fountain pen” and “glitter gel”.
She said: “I’ve never talked about this publicly before, because, well, it’s dorky. But I also have, in my mind, secretly, established genres categories for lyrics I write. Three of them, to be exact. They are affectionately titled Quill Lyrics, Fountain Pen Lyrics, and Glitter Gel Pen Lyrics.
“I know this sounds confusing but I’ll try to explain. I came up with these categories based on what writing tool I imagine having in my hand when I scribbled it down, figuratively. I don’t actually have a quill. Anymore. I broke it once when I was mad.
“I categorise certain songs of mine in the ‘Quill’ style if the words and phrasings are antiquated, if I was inspired to write it after reading Charlotte Brontë or after watching a movie where everyone is wearing poet shirts and corsets. If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the Quill genre.”
The star concluded her speech by admitting being honoured by the NSAI “means more than any genre of my lyrics could ever say”.
She then performed a 10-minute version of her hit song ‘All Too Well’ at the ceremony, where the likes of Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town and Luke Combs all took to the stage.
Taylor is to release her 10th studio album, ‘Midnights’, on October 21st.
In 2019, the star – who has won 11 Grammy Awards – was named Billboard’s first-ever Woman Of The Decade.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ciara has teamed up with Summer Walker on the forthcoming collaboration, ‘Better Thangs’.
The R’n’B icon teased the track over the weekend and asked her millions of followers to guess who the featured artist is.
She wrote: “I’m so excited for my feature on #BetterThangs. Can you guess who it is?”
And now, the ‘One, Two Step’ hitmaker has confirmed it’s Summer by posting the artwork for the single on Instagram and captioning it: “Pre save link in @ciara bio.”
A release date is not known at this time.
The pair previously joined forces on ‘Ciara’s Prayer’ last year.
‘Better Thangs’ will follow July’s ‘Jump’ featuring Coast Contra, which saw Ciara head in a dance direction.
She said: “I’m back on my mission to make the world dance.”
Away from music, the 36-year-old star has just dropped her On A Mission (OAM) skincare line, a venture “years in the making”.
The new brand prides itself on inclusivity, with the items tested on 96 women with different skin tones.
She said: “I would say this is truly a missing piece in skin care today.
“These products are for all skin types, so that’s why we wanted to do [the clinical testing] with every skin tone.”
Despite everything she’s already achieved in the music business, Ciara remains as ambitious as ever.
She shared: “I had a vision for things that were important to me to check off on my dream list of things to accomplish. This was one of them.”
Ciara burst on the music scene as a teenager and she’s subsequently enjoyed significant success in other fields, including writing a book, launching a fragrance and even creating her own rum company.
She added: “I feel kind of funny going on about the list of things I’m doing. But it all goes to the power of believing in yourself. I always say I’m a woman of ambition on a mission.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has confirmed he’s talked to John Squire about forming a supergroup.
The former Oasis frontman brought out the former Stone Roses guitarist for his pair of Knebworth shows back in June, to perform the Britpop group’s 1995 classic ‘Champagne Supernova’.
And afterward, he took to Twitter to tease potential future projects with the 59-year-old fellow Mancunian.
He teased at the time: “Super group incoming LG JS. (sic)”
And speaking to Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1 for the ‘Home Sessions’ series, the ‘Diamond In The Dark’ singer confirmed the pair are going to work together at “some point” and he’s hoping to sing on some tunes for him.
He said: “Yeah. Serious, man. But we’ve got things to do first, and he’s got things to clear up and that. But yeah, I’m definitely going to do summat at some point.”
Matt asked: “So you’ve actually had the conversation a little bit?”
Liam – whose return to Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire came 26 years after Oasis famously played to a record-breaking 250,000 fans over two nights at the outdoor venue – replied: “Maybe, yeah. Probably did that at Knebworth and that, I think, if I can remember anything about it.
But, no. There’s talk about summat. Maybe. But no rush. He’s my man, I love him. So if he’s got any tunes that need singing, I’m the boy, mate. (sic)”
A few years ago, Liam – who turned 50 today (21.09.22) – said his dream supergroup would include someone out of The Stone Roses and his close friend, Richard Ashcroft, formerly of The Verve.
In 2017, he said: “The ideal ones would be the guys out of The Stone Roses. I think they just split up, so that would be good.

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Welch joked that she would “eat this later” when a fan threw a fake “bloody-severed hand” on-stage.
Florence and the Machine were performing at New York’s Madison Square Garden as part of the ‘Dance Fever’ world tour when the bizarre gift was lobbed towards her.
She reacted: “It’s a beautiful bloody severed hand.
“How did you know?”
She then quipped in the TikTok footage shared on the band’s page: “I’m gonna eat this later.”
The ‘You’ve Got The Love’ singer then placed the hand on a stage prop behind her before carrying on with the concert.
Fans are lucky there is a ‘Dance Fever’ tour, as the singer recently admitted the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic made her contemplate shelving their latest album.
The ‘Dog Days Are Over’ hitmaker explained how the global health crisis made it challenging to finish ‘Dance Fever’, specifically the travel restrictions between the US and UK, and it wasn’t until she and producer Jack Antonoff penned the tracks ‘King’ and ‘Choreomania’ that Florence knew they had something too special to give up on.
She said: “There were so many moments where I had nearly gave up on this record. There were so many moments where I nearly went, ‘It just feels like the way that the world is, this is just too hard to finish.’
“I started with Jack [Antonoff], and we were meant to make the whole record in Electric Lady in New York in … March 2020. I went to New York. I had my suitcases packed for a month, we were going to make the whole… we had a bunch of amazing songs done. The first song we wrote together was ‘King’ and … so Jack had wanted to work together for a while, and we met and we got on really well. I found him really great to talk to. I never start working with anyone at this stage in my career, unless we get in the studio and do something, and that really tells you whether something’s going to work. You’re never like, ‘Yeah, let’s do this,’ until you’ve had a play date, and on this play date we wrote ‘King’ and then ‘Choreomania’. I’d had ‘Choreomania’ and it was in a very demo-like state, and what Jack did to it, he took it so far. I was like, ‘This guy’s really good. He’s really, really good.’
The strength of those two songs was like, ‘Okay, there’s really something here,’ and then we agreed to start the record together. We got to New York, in that one week we wrote ‘Free’ and we wrote ‘Back In Town’.”
The 35-year-old singer also admitted she went through a grieving process when live music was cancelled at the height of the pandemic, and didn’t know whether she’d return to the stage.
She said: “I felt like this cathedral of touch that I had built had just flattened overnight. And the grief and the loss of… It’s also, it was like, ‘It’s my job.’ And I just didn’t know if it would come back and I don’t know how to do anything else. I don’t know how to do anything else? Because, there were so many false starts as well of like, ‘We can go to finish the record, or we can’t, there’s another variant. We’re going to get to New York to do it. Oh, we can’t. Everyone in England has COVID, you can’t leave. America doesn’t want you.’
“And so, there were so many false starts of whether this record would even finish.
“And you would see a tour go up, you would see it get cancelled.”
The flame-haired star had gotten so used to life off the road and felt “abandoned” when the one place she goes to for a “relief from self” wasn’t there anymore, and she started to doubt whether she wanted to tour again.

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Young has teased that the new Crazy Horse album features “unheard-of combinations of instruments.”
The 76-year-old music legend worked with Rick Rubin on the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Barn’ at the studio wizard’s famous Shangri-La studios.
And while hijacking an interview with Jack White on Rick’s ‘Broken Record’ podcast, Neil jumped in and teased the upcoming record.
Former White Stripes star Jack, 47, also compared the long career of Neil to that of The Rolling Stones.
He said: “I remember when I was 12 and The Rolling Stones were 40 and everyone was like, ‘Oh my god,’ and it’s so nice that you guys are able to sort of prove that.”
Imparting his secret to longevity in the music business, Neil replied: “If they got the spirit, they’ll be cranking something out, because what else can we do?”
In July, the ‘Heart of Gold’ hitmaker confirmed that the album was finished and that it’s “unlike” its predecessor.
He teased: “With this recording, something special is happening and we know we have a good one.
“It’s too early to say anymore because in this world things come and go so fast. But real magic lasts and we think we have it.”
He added in a blog post on his Neil Young Archives website: “It’s the same band, Crazy Horse, but the music is unlike ‘Barn’, our last offering. “Music lives!!!!! Two records made in one year!!!!!!!”
