OHMYGOSSIP — Corey Taylor says Slipknot would never have been friends without the band.
The 48-year-old lead vocalist admitted that the group have had their issues over the years but insisted he and his bandmates are in a better place right now and their differences have made their music even better.
He said: “We’re kind of reaching that point where we’ve kind of embraced each other for who we are. The beautiful thing about Slipknot has also been one of the hardest things: we’re not necessarily people who would’ve been friends.
“We came from such different backgrounds, different points of view, and different musical standpoints. At certain times, that’s where the tension comes from, and that’s where the genius comes from.”
Corey also insisted that the band “never shied away from a challenge”.
The band’s new album ‘The End, So Far’ has been described as experimental and inventive but Corey says this is nothing new as they are always trying to surprise their fans.
He told NME: “Musically, we’ve never shied away from a challenge. It got to the point where you’re like, ‘Where do we go?’ [We said] let’s look back for inspiration instead of trying to look forward, and let’s try to embrace some of the s*** that made us wanna do this in the first place.
“We’ve always been experimental. Some fans will have a f****** cystic embolism [when they hear the record].
“Everybody just assumes that we’re heavy all the f****** time. We do have moments of blasts and brilliance, but at the same time, we have songs like [acoustic and string led ‘Vol 3’ cut] ‘Circle’.
“We also have songs like ‘Snuff’. When people hear [the new album], they go, ‘Well, that’s a departure.’ It’s like, ‘What are you, f****** new?’ We’ve spent 20-plus years throwing people for a loop.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne-Marie says doing her own hair and makeup before a gig gives her a chance to calm her pre-show nerves.
The ‘Breathing’ singer – who has been open about her battle with anxiety – admits the time leading up to her concerts can be “manic” with travelling and the only time she has to relax before walking out on stage is when she’s in front of the dressing room mirror getting herself glammed up.
Asked if she has a pre-show beauty ritual, she told HELLO! magazine: “Well, I do my own hair and makeup, so that, for me, is the time I have to prepare.
“It’s crazy because you are either on the road or on a plane or have to go to another country or festival.
“It’s a long, manic day and I feel like when I’m there, sitting in front of the mirror doing my hair and makeup, that’s the time when I get to chill and focus on trying not to scream about what’s about to happen.”
The 32-year-old pop star also admitted that she wishes she had been less “tamed” and has vowed to go “crazy again” like her teenage days.
Asked what she would tell her 16-year-old self, she said: “I’ve learnt a lot about myself recently.
“I think I would just tell myself not to be tamed.
“I feel like I was a crazy teenager and over the years, you think to yourself, ‘Oh, I have to grow up now.
I have to be calm. I have to be sensible.’
“And recently, I’ve realised that was a bad decision. So I’m going crazy again!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Iron Maiden have announced a slew of 2023 dates as part of ‘The Future Past Tour’.
Bruce Dickinson and co will perform songs from the metal titans’ latest album, ‘Senjutsu’, the 1986 gem ‘Somewhere In Time’, and all the classics.
The run includes dates in Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham and London.
The ‘Run to the Hills’ will also play Poland, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium and Italy.
The first date, as it stands, is on June 13 at Krakow’s Tauron Arena in Poland.
Further dates and supports will be confirmed in due course.
Bassist Steve Harris said: “Following the release of our latest album, ‘Senjutsu, we updated the current Legacy of the Beast Tour a little by opening the show with the first 3 songs from it, with the Japanese Palace stage set. As it doesn’t make a lot of sense to repeat this for a Senjutsu album tour, we thought about other options and we’ve decided to revisit Somewhere In Time as that tour didn’t feature in the various retrospective history tours we’ve played over the years. They were based on our 80’s concert videos and sadly we did not film that tour (blame the manager!!). We have had lots of requests from fans over the years for many tracks on it so we are now going to play them, plus of course a few others we know you will like! It will also be particularly satisfying to finally get to play some of the more epic tracks on Senjutsu, it’s been a long wait! 2023 is going to be an exciting time and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone again in the UK, Ireland and around Europe.”
Their manager, Rod Smallwood, added: “This combination of the two albums we feel is very exciting. We know fans want to hear those epic cuts on Senjutsu for the first time live and we think that by combining it with an iconic album like Somewhere In Time it will make for another really special tour for fans old and new! Of course, for a new album tour in Europe and the UK we will go back largely to the relative intimacy of arenas and we know fans will be very happy about that too!”
The band are currently amidst the North American leg of the ‘Legacy Of The Beast World Tour’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Korn’s Jonathan Davis is launching the ‘Freak On A Leash’ pet brand.
The nu-metal legend has designed a range of products for animals for the new venture that shares a name with the band’s 1999 classic.
He wrote on Instagram: “The first collection, designed exclusively by me, contains all custom products made with high-quality gunmetal hardware, leather, nylon, and plushies that will set your pet apart from the pack.”
The launch date is set for October 28.
Meanwhile, Korn have toured without bassist Reginald ‘Fieldy’ Arviz, who decided to time some time out last year to work on some “bad habits”.
The musician announced his decision to step away from the group for a while to “take some time off to heal” but he said he would remain “creative to keep his mind and soul in a good place”.
In a note shared with fans online, he wrote last summer: “To all Korn fans worldwide. The past 6 years I’ve been dealing with some personal issues that at times have caused me to fall back on some of my bad habits and has caused some tension with the people around me.
“It’s been suggested to me to take some time off to heal. I’m going to respect what was asked of me and take that time. Unfortunately you will not see me on stage with my band.”
The bassist went on to thank his fans and bandmates for their support.
He added: “I will be working towards getting the bad habits out of my system. In the meantime, I will be staying creative to keep my mind soul in a good place. I’m thankful for all of your support, patience understanding as we all have something that we deal with. Jonathan, Munky, Ray and Head, I love you and I don’t want to bring any tension or bad vibes to the circle.”
He was replaced by Suicidal Tendencies’ Ra Diaz.
The band just completed a joint jaunt with fellow rockers Evanescence that wrapped on September 16.
Korn released their latest LP ‘Requiem’ in February.

OHMYGOSSIP — Brandon Flowers quipped that he and his Killers bandmates were “sweating bullets” as idol Bruce Springsteen joined them on stage in New York.
The ‘Somebody Told Me’ group were joined by The Boss and Jake Clemons, saxophonist for Springsteen’s E Street Band, at the world-famous Madison Square Garden at the weekend.
As well as performing the rock legend’s classics ‘Born to Run’ and ‘Badlands’, they joined Flowers and co for a rendition of the Springsteen-featuring ‘Dustland’.
Before performing their collaboration, Brandon said: “This part of the night is usually reserved for me to have people put their phones up. And I tell us to think about where your light comes from.”
He then divulged to 73-year-old Springsteen: “It is a very unusual circumstance for me tonight because I get a lot of my light from you.”
The gig ended on a high with ‘Born to Run’, and as Springsteen came back out, an excitable Brandon confessed: “Me and my friends have all been sweating bullets up here all night, because the Boss is here.”
‘Dustland’ is a remake of The Killers’ 2008 song ‘A Dustland Fairytale’, and Brandon previously admitted it was a real “pinch-me moment” being joined on one of his songs by The Boss.
The ‘Mr. Brightside’ hitmaker retold the story of him receiving a phone call from the ‘Dancing in the Dark’ rocker amid the COVID-19 pandemic and thinking it was someone playing a prank on him.
Asked how the collaboration came about, he shared: “Alright, well we were about to go… we were about to leave for England and it got shut down. We were promoting ‘Imploding The Mirage’ and then COVID was just starting to freak people out and then Universal, you know, we’re under the Universal umbrella, and they sort of sent out this blanket email to everybody saying ‘it’s kind of over, or do it at your own risk, but we don’t know what’s going on with COVID if you’re going to do promotion’, so we went home. And I was at the airport, and I started getting these texts from Bruce Springsteen but I didn’t have his number saved on my phone, and so I thought that it was someone messing, you know, I really thought it might be someone messing with me.
And anyway it turned out it was really him but one of the things he was saying was ‘we should do ‘Dustland’ one day’ and he thought maybe we’d cross paths touring or whatever, and obviously we all know what happened, we got shut down, and after months and months of sitting around I thought ‘why don’t we do a quarantine version of ‘Dustland”. And he was all for it and really cool about it, and we’re just … Man, it’s one of those pinch-me moments.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Slipknot wanted to make amends with Joey Jordison before his tragic death.
The ‘Psychosocial’ group’s frontman Corey Taylor has opened up on the band’s desire to “mend fences” with their late drummer, who died in July 2021 aged 46 and is honoured on their new album ‘The End So Far’.
Speaking to The Fader, Corey said: “We dedicated the album to him. We hoped it wouldn’t happen, and when it did it was a sad resolve that… for somebody that creative and explosive.
“I just wish we hadn’t lost him this soon. We were hoping to mend fences with him, and it’s one of those things that tells you: whatever you need to do, do it now, because you never know when you’re gonna lose somebody.”
Jordison’s death came 11 years after Slipknot’s bassist Paul Gray died, and Corey admitted both deaths were a wakeup call for the band.
He added: “They definitely woke us up a little bit, made us realise we’re on the other side of youth.
“There’s gonna come a time when we start losing each other again, and we should take advantage of the time we have right now with each other.
“I’ve tried to let these guys know how I feel about them and the music we’ve made together.”
While he admitted Slipknot are “all such different people”, he pointed to a definite bond between them.
He explained: “We’re all such different people, and the fact that after all these years we’re still doing it together — and still doing it at this pace — you have to embrace each other after that.”
Jordison co-founded the group in 1995, before parting ways in 2013, while the drummer revealed three years later that he suffered from neurological disease transverse myelitis.
Reflecting on their relationship over last few years, Corey recently told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe: “We had talked over the years every now and then – it would just be random – but we never said to each other what we needed to say to each other. At least I didn’t say it to Joe.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rage Against The Machine have shelved their 2023 North American tour dates.
The ‘Killing in the Name’ rockers were forced to cancel their UK and European shows this summer, including the world-famous Reading and Leeds festivals in August, due to frontman Zack de la Rocha tearing his left Achilles tendon.
And it pains the rocker to have to pull their shows next year, but he has no choice as “a lot of work and healing” is needed before he can consider stepping on a stage again.
A lengthy statement began: “It’s been almost three months since Chicago, and I still look down at my leg in disbelief. Two years of waiting through the pandemic, hoping we would have an opening to be a band again and continue the work we started 30 some odd years ago. Rehearsing, training, reconciling, working our way back to form. Then one and a half shows into it and my tendon tears.
“Felt like a sick joke the universe played on me. As I write this, I remind myself it’s just bad circumstance. Just a f***** moment. Unfortunately, it is a moment that requires a lot of work and healing. I have a severe tear in my left Achilles tendon and only 8 per cent of my tendon was left intact. And even that portion was severely compromised.”
The statement added: “It’s not simply a question of being able to perform again but extends to basic functionality going forward. That’s why I’ve made the painful and difficult decision to cancel the remaining shows on our 2023 North American leg.”
The ‘Public Service Announcement’ tour was due to come to Portland on March 23.

OHMYGOSSIP — Depeche Mode could never replace late keyboard player Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher.
Dave Gahan and Martin Gore have just announced their new album ‘Memento Mori’ and a 2023 tour, their first without Fletch, who died aged 60 in May, and the pair have insisted their beloved bandmate is irreplaceable.
Dave, 60, said: “We’re not going to replace Fletch; there’s no reason to replace Fletch.
“That would be impossible. There was only one Fletch, that’s for sure.”
Their upcoming LP, which is due out early next year, was already “ready to go” before Andy’s death, and he was excited about it.
The title is Latin for “remember that you [have to] die”, but they want to take it as a reminder to live every day like it’s your last.
Martin, 61, said: “Obviously, everybody will think that all of the songs were quickly written after Andy died.
“But everything was planned and ready to go. Unfortunately, Andy passed away when he was really looking forward to getting started with us. So I like the idea of ‘memento mori’ in a more positive way, in a ‘Live each day and make the most of your time here.’”
Fletch was on Dave’s mind “a lot” when he was singing the songs.
He said: “This is the first time we’re doing something like this without Fletch.
“All the songs were already written before Fletch passed, but when something happens, an event like this in your life, songs change: They take on different forms and have different meanings when you sing them. I think when I was singing some of the vocals, I was reflecting on all kinds of things, but certainly Fletch came up in my mind quite a lot.”
The ‘Enjoy the Silence’ hitmakers are “much closer” following Andy’s death, says Martin, who admits he and Dave always prepared being in the background while Fletch was the voice of the electronic group for years.
Martin told Rolling Stone: “It’s obviously really hard to lose your closest friend.
“Andy was there with me from way before the band and I feel like he was the one in the trenches with me the whole way. So it’s very tough.”
He said: “We’ve come to realise more after his death that he did play a huge role in the band.
“Dave and I are not super-social people, whereas Andy was. If we ever had to do anything, [Fletch] would go in and start just chatting to everyone, and me and Dave could hide out in the corner somewhere. Even though we’ve been together for 40 years, me and Dave have been brought much closer together by Andy passing, because we had to. Whereas before, Andy was, like I say, the glue. He did bring us together; he was the interlinking part.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith believes they have lost fans to “homophobia and transphobia”.
The ‘Unholy’ hitmaker came out as non-binary in 2019 and asked to be referred to as they/them, and the pop star believes some people have since stopped listening to his music.
Sam explained: “In terms of music I definitely feel like there are some people that have turned away, I think purely down to homophobia and transphobia.
“That’s a hard thing to take on, that people are digesting your music in a different way.
“My music has always been queer. ‘In The Lonely Hour’ was all about being in love with a straight guy. It’s fascinating how people’s politics sometimes can leak into their love of music.”
The 30-year-old Grammy winner insisted all non-binary and trans people want is their identity to be acknowledged.
Speaking on Annie Mac’s ‘Changes’ podcast, Sam said: “I’m definitely not trying to destroy gender in my views or my expression.
“Right now what’s needed is just to acknowledge that there is a third box and that trans people do exist.
“Everyone’s life is as important as the others.”
The ‘Stay with Me’ hitmaker recently spoke about his “transitional three years” and knowing what they want to say after learning more about themself.
The chart-topping star said: “After COVID, everyone’s feeling hungry to be around people again, and see people, so I’m definitely feeling that.
“I’ve had a transitional three years in my life. I turned 30, I think I know what I want to say now, I think I know who I am a bit more, and I’m ready to have fun.”
‘Unholy’ with Kim Petras is the lead single from the upcoming follow-up to 2020’s ‘Love Goes’.
In April, Sam released the standalone ballad ‘Love Me More’ documenting their “candid introspection” of their “relationship with themself on a journey of self-discovery and happiness.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendrick Lamar dominated the BET Hip Hop Awards 2022, taking home six prizes.
The 35-year-old rap superstar was crowned Artist of the Year at the ceremony on September 30 at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, which aired on Tuesday (04.10.22).
His acclaimed LP ‘Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers’ scooped Hip-Hop Album of the Year, and he won Best Hip-Hop Video for his Baby Keem track ‘Family Ties’, and Video Director of the Year with Dave Free.
His haul also included Lyricist of the Year and Best Live Performer.
Drake was the most-nominated artist of the night with 14 nods, and he walked away with the Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse award twice and Best Collaboration for ‘Wait for You’ with Future and Tems. ‘Churchill Downs’ with Jack Harlow also won the former accolade.
Kanye West – who legally changed his name to Ye – earned a whopping 10 nominations, including Best Live Performer and Album of the Year, but failed to win a single prize.
Elsewhere, Lizzo’s mega-hit ‘About Damn Times’ won the Impact award, Latto’s ‘Big Energy’ was named Song of The Year, and 50 Cent was crowned Hustler of the Year.
The ceremony was hosted by Fat Joe, and the likes of GloRilla and Lil’ Kim took to the stage.

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba and Slick Rick are joining forces on a new musical collaboration.
The ‘Luther’ actor signed the hip-hop legend – whose real name is Richard Martin Lloyd Walters – to his 7 Wallace UK record label, and the pair have just shot a music promo for their new song in Brixton, London.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Idris and Slick have known each other for ages and have spoken about doing something for a while now.
“They have finally done this track and a full video. As a hip-hop artist who has been incredibly influential for decades, Slick has always been someone Idris admires.
“So they had to make sure they had amazing visuals to match the song.”
Despite living in New York, Rick was born and raised in Mitcham in Surrey, south east England.
And when the 57-year-old star is back on home soil, he loves a cup of English tea and biscuits.
He said before his first-ever UK tour in 2016: “I’m looking forward to a nice cup of tea and some tasty biscuits.”
The ‘Children’s Story’ hitmaker was signed by Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen to Def Jam Records in March of 1986 and went on to release four albums between 1988 and 1999.
Meanwhile, Idris is set to play Fatboy Slim’s All Back To Minehead festival at Butlins next month.
The DJ brings the huge party to Somerset between November 18 and 21.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Goulding has ditched ballads on her upcoming record.
The 35-year-old pop star’s hit love songs include ‘Still Falling For You’ from the ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ soundtrack and ‘Love Me Like You Do’ from the erotic rom-com ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.
However, the ‘Easy Lover’ hitmaker has noticed a shift in people’s music tastes post-pandemic, with most favouring upbeat dance tunes – so fans can expect just that on her follow-up to 2020’s ‘Brightest Blue’.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column at the BMI London Awards at The Savoy this week, which saw her honoured with the BMI President’s Award, she said: “No-one seems to be into ballads at the moment post-pandemic.
“People want to make music to move to. That’s basically what my new album sounds like.”
Ellie has just teased an upcoming bop with Sigala and Alok called ‘All By Myself’, which samples electronic pioneers Depeche Mode’s 90s classic ‘Enjoy the Silence’
The ‘I Need Your Love’ hitmaker recently said of her return to her electronic dance-pop roots: “I spent a lot of time by myself, quite introspective. I had a backlog of things I wanted to write about.
“It was quite deep and emotional. And this album is the opposite of that. OHMYGOSSIP — Melanie C says the Spice Girls are always “working on” getting Victoria Beckham back on stage.
The ‘Say You’ll Be There’ hitmakers – also comprising Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner – reunited in 2019 for a UK tour without Posh Spice, but they are still hopeful the fashion designer will reunite with them in the future.
Speaking to Extra, Melanie – who is known as Sporty Spice in the girl group – said: “In my heart of hearts, I want to get back onstage. So me and Mel B are championing and we’re all talking and trying to make that happen.
“It’s like … ‘No pressure. But the world wants it.'”
Although they don’t have any shows booked yet, they are always talking about getting back out on the road and are determined to get Victoria back behind the microphone.
She added: “We hope – I can’t give a time frame. It is something we want to do. We are trying to push through. At the moment, Victoria is in the wings. She is always involved creatively. We want her to be happy. It is our dream to get her back.”
Melanie recently delivered the news that, after much speculation, the Spice Girls have no shows booked to mark the 25th anniversary of their ‘Spiceworld’ album.
With the milestone for their 1997 LP fast approaching in November, the iconic group had been teasing fans with a “Spiceworld25” graphic, but it turned out to just be teasing an expanded edition of the record.
Despite being eager to play some more shows with her bandmates, Melanie insisted “nothing is arranged yet”.
She said: “I wish I could say there were shows coming. But I can’t, sadly. We do want to do shows, they’re just not arranged yet.
“We’re constantly talking trying to work it out and make it work for everybody. But that yeah, that’s my number one wish.”
Melanie has been dropping regular hints that she would love for the ‘Viva Forever’ hitmakers to play Glastonbury, and she quipped she would go as far to “pick up litter” on site just to return to the world-famous festival after making her debut DJing and performing a duet of ‘Spice Up Your Life’ with Blossoms at Worthy Farm in June.

OHMYGOSSIP — WILLOW admits she puts pressure on herself to be a “better musician”.
The 21-year-old star – who is the daughter of Hollywood power couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith – has set herself the challenge of nailing all of the “high notes” and is always seeking ways to “evolve” and improve as a performer.
She told Rolling Stone UK: “I feel pressure, internally, to become a better musician. I want to work harder on knowing the names of the notes. I sing in ways on this album that I never have before. I really want to challenge myself to hit all of those notes on-stage and just grow as a performer. I need to be thinking very deeply about my technique more than I have before so it’s definitely internal pressure to just evolve and to be better.”
The ‘Wait A Minute!’ singer had the idea for her upcoming fifth studio album, ‘Coping Mechanism’, back in 2018, but she didn’t feel the music was “good enough”.
She explained: “I was thinking about the concept in 2018. I always knew I wanted to make this album, I just knew that the music wasn’t good enough. So it was really just a matter of time until I heard what the album was supposed to sound like. The first time [producer] Chris Greatti and I got in the studio. I had been saying ‘Oh no, I’m not making an album I’m just chilling.’ And then after that session, I was like, ‘This is ‘Coping Mechanism’, this is the album I’ve been wanting to make.’ I heard the sound and I knew it. I just knew it.
“I probably hadn’t talked about it since 2018, but it was still in my mind, and I still knew that album was going to come from me at some point and now just happened to be the time.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Oliver Sim says new The xx music is “definitely” on the cards.
The composer – who dropped his debut solo album ‘Hideous Bastard’ in 2021 – has reassured fans that while he, Jamie xx and Romy Madley Croft are busy with their respective solo careers, they will regroup to record new tunes.
Appearing on the Consequence’s ‘Kyle Meredith With…’ podcast, Oliver said: “The xx will always be my home and will always be my priority. And normally I wouldn’t speak for Romy [Madley Croft] and Jamie [xx], but I know they feel the same. I think all of us doing our solo projects just makes me excited. The trio’s last studio album was 2017’s ‘I See You’, and in 2018 they released remix LP ‘Remixes’.
In summer 2018, bassist-and-vocalist Oliver gave an update on the progress of their new material.
He said: “I’ve done a lot of work with Romy in the last couple of weeks. “I’ve done a lot of work with Jamie, but we haven’t had that moment yet of all three of us being in the room together.”
He added that they’d been working on individual projects “as if we’re making our own records”.
Away from the band, singer-and-guitarist Romy has co-written a number of tracks, including Dua Lipa and Silk City’s mega-hit ‘Electricity’, while Jamie co-wrote Florence + The Machine’s ‘Big God’ and is listed as a producer on Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus’ ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’.
Recently, Romy teamed up with Fred Again… on ‘Lights Out’, while Jamie has been touring and playing festivals.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paramore have confirmed a man “physically and verbally assaulted multiple women” at their Salt Lake City concert.
Hayley Williams and co were unaware of the alleged incidents while on stage at The Great Saltair in Utah on October 4, as it all happened out of their view.
The abusive man was restrained and escorted out of the venue by security.
And the rock band has apologised to those who were victim to or witnessed the acts of “violence, homophobia and bigotry”.
Paramore said that had they seen the assaults, the ‘Misery Business’ hitmakers would have stopped the show immediately.
They wrote: “At last night’s show in SLC, we were made aware of an incident that happened in the crowd while we were on stage.
“A man physically and verbally assaulted multiple women, including an engaged couple at our show. Our security team and venue staff were made aware and were able to restrain and remove him.
“We did not realise this was happening, as the incident took place out of view from stage. Had we seen any of this happening, we would have stopped the show until the situation was under control.
“PARAMORE DOES NOT CONDONE violence, homophobia, or bigotry of any kind. It is supremely unwelcome in our community and has no place at our shows. To the fans who were hurt by or who witnessed what happened last night, we are so sorry. We hope that you know we will always do anything we can to protect you and make you feel celebrated.
“To make things as clear as possible: Paramore shows are meant to be a safe place for people. If you can’t respect that do not come. (sic)”
