OHMYGOSSIP — Faith No More’s Mike Patton has revealed he battled alcoholism during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 54-year-old Faith No More frontman was speaking about his role in hardcore band Dead Cross and their upcoming album when he revealed the difficulties he and his bandmates faced during the pandemic.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “This record was forged through COVID, cancer [guitarist Mike Crain’s battle with squamous cell carcinoma] and alcoholism.
“He’s the strongest fucking guy. He’s not the guy you’d think would come down with cancer. But he did, and a lot of that went into the Dead Cross record: a lot of weird pain and fear. It’s hard to explain, but it made the record better.”
Although Patton originally welcomed lockdown for the break it gave him, things quickly turned quite dark and he was diagnosed with agoraphobia.
He said: “My initial response to the pandemic was: ‘I love this s***!’ It allowed me to be an antisocial motherfucker! I had maybe three months of that: ‘This is f****** awesome!’ Then something changed – and not for the better.
“Because I was isolated so much, going outside was a hard thing to do and that’s a horrible thing. And the idea of doing more Faith No More shows – it was stressful. It affected me mentally. I don’t know why, but the drinking just … happened.”
He added that he has now been sober “for a while” and is “doing pretty good”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Melanie C can be “mouthy” towards “rude” audience members.
The 48-year-old pop star – who is best known as part of the Spice Girls – once shared the bill with rock legends Meat Loaf and Status Quo as part of her solo career but was taken aback to see two audience members staring at her with “disdain” as she played her set.
She said: “Many years ago, I did a little tour and I was supporting Meat Loaf, but Status Quo were playing as well so the bill was me, Status Quo and Meatloaf. It was very random to have me there with those guys! But we did this big stadium in Dublin, it might even have been Croke Park actually where I played with the Spice Girls. And when you’re the first act on, people are milling in and there’s not that many people. But you’ve got your fans. But right in the middle, there was these two people at the front with their Quo t-shirts on and had their arms folded just looking at me with disdain waiting for the Quo. It’s such a funny thing to do, isn’t it? One, you’re waiting for Status Quo and two, just b***** off and let my fans stand in the middle! It’s so weird! I probably did [say something]. I think on stage sometimes – it depends on the mood I’m in – but I can be a bit mouthy on stage. If people are rude in the audience, it really gets my goat.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Viva Forever’ hitmaker – who is also known as Sporty Spice – revealed that when she was working on her debut album ‘Northern Star’ in Los Angeles , she was invited to perform at a punk gig on Sunset Boulevard and mistakenly thought the audience “hated” her when they began swearing and spitting at her, only to learn that it was in fact a “sign of affection.”
Speaking on the ‘Jools and Jim’s Joyride’ podcat, she said: “I remember I did – this is so bizarre – I was in LA working on my first [solo] album and a friend of mine introduced me to Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols and at the time he was working with two of the guys from Guns N’ Roses and the bass player from Duran Duran John Taylor. They were called the Neurotic Outsiders. They had a residency at The Viper Room on Sunset and they invited me to go down and sing a couple of songs. I think I sang a couple of Pistols songs and all the audience were going mad. They were all sticking two fingers up at me and spitting at me. I thought ‘Oh my God, they hate me!’ but they were like ‘No, no, in punk, that’s a sign of affection!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B has won a lawsuit over her explicit album art.
The 30-year-old rapper was sued by plaintiff Kevin Michael Brophy, who claimed that she misused his image on the cover of her 2016 mixtape ‘Gangsta B**** Music, Vol. 1’.
The album featured an altered photo of another man with Brophy’s back tattoo performing oral sex on the rapper and he sought at least $5 million in damages from Cardi B and her ex-manager Klenord Raphael.
He was also seeking an order blocking her from using his likeness.
Brophy – a married father of two – argued that he works for a “socially-conscious surf and lifestyle company” and faced “uncomfortable comments, questions, and ridicule” over the album art.
However, after he lost the a four-day trial, his attorney Barry Cappello of Cappello Noel said Cardi B and Raphael were “gracious winners”.
He added: “If this chapter can close, it may be best for the Brophy family’s ability to put this behind them.”
The jury sided with Cardi who cover’s use of the tattoo qualifies as “transformative” under intellectual property law and is constitutionally protected.
She added that inking was used “in an anonymous manner, as a single building block” and said the model who posed for the cover was “Black, with hair,” while Brophy is a “middle-aged Caucasian with a shaved head”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran will shoot up to ten music videos for his new album.
The 31-year-old singer is set to release his sixth studio album in 2023 and is planning to film a number of epic videos later this month to accompany the record.
Ed has been recording at his home studio in Suffolk and is planning to use the English countryside and seaside as backdrops for his work.
The ‘Shivers’ hitmaker will film up to ten videos as part of one story and they are said to be amongst his most creative ever and will include him falling off a cliff and appearing as a monster.
Among the song titles for the new album are ‘Salt Water’, ‘Boat’ and ‘Dusty’ – which sees him making breakfast with his two-year-old daughter Lyra.
Ed – who shares Lyra and five-month-old daughter Jupiter with his wife Cherry Seaborn – will touch on his experiences of fatherhood with his new music.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Ed is really excited about his new material and can’t wait to put his imagination to the test with the help of his creative video team.
“Of course, becoming a father has been an astounding experience for him so he’s poured these thoughts into his lyrics, as well as many other ideas.
“It’s the first time he will have shot a series of videos as one story but he thinks it will be special.”
Meanwhile, Ed recently revealed that he had been set to write a song for the James Bond film ‘No Time To Die’ when Danny Boyle had been attached to direct the movie.
However, Cary Joji Fukunaga later came in behind the camera and Ed ended up being replaced by Billie Eilish.
Appearing on ‘That Peter Crouch Podcast’, he said: “I was within a f****** gnat’s pube of doing one, but then they changed directors, changed scripts and that was it all done.
“I had started writing it. I’m not gonna pretend it didn’t hurt not doing it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Frampton is recording his 19th studio album.
The 72-year-old rock star – who is best known for hits such as ‘Show Me the Way, ‘Baby, I Love Your Way,’ ‘Do You Feel Like We Do’ and ‘I’m in You’ – released his first record 50 years ago and is now creating an album full of self-penned tracks.
He said: “I’m recording brand-new material right now. No co-writers, all my own songs and I’m throwing out a lot already because every track has got to be a winner. I’m going nowhere Framptom has gone before!”
Meanwhile, the ‘Money’ hitmaker – who released his 18th album ‘Frampton Forgets the Words ‘ just last year – also added that becoming a teen idol in the 1960s was a “big surprise” to him and joked that his “good looks” got him into “trouble.”
He told Uncut magazine: “Your career has been marked by unexpected turns ever since your teens, when you were a brilliant guitar player who got shoved in front of the mic in The Herd in 1967… Yeah, becoming a teen idol was as big a surprise to me as the other guys. My guitar playing did good for me, but my looks got me into trouble – both I thank my parents for, ha! But through all the ups and downs you have to pick yourself up and move on.”
The British-born star now lives in Nashville and explained that his mantra was the reason behind his determination to return to the UK and Europe for a final tour but teased that the “farewell” nature of the show – which is due to conclude at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 8 November – may become “indefinite” if things go well.
He said: I don’t ever give up on things. That’s why I didn’t give up on the farewell tour coming to the UK and Europe. It was a must for me. And if it goes well, I might be able to go to other places, too. So it’s an indefinite farewell, really.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Turner believes his latest songs are stadium-worthy.
The ‘Arctic Monkeys’ frontman, 36, says the tunes on the band’s seventh album ‘The Car’ could “hang out” with other arena-standard hits.
He told NME: “It wouldn’t have made sense for us to play stadiums before this album, and I don’t think we were mentally ready for it up until now.
“I don’t want to get ahead of myself and say that some of our songs ‘belong’ in a stadium, but they could definitely hang out in a stadium.”
Alex added he and his bandmates, guitarist Jamie Cook, 37, drummer Matt Helders, 36, and bassist Nick O’Malley, 37, all wanted “to write louder songs than we had for some time” for the latest record.
But he said about the album evolving beyond heavy rock: “I think what I found myself wanting to play when the band were around was actually very surprising to me.
“So much of this new music is scratching at the past and how much of it I should hang on to.”
Alex added about the ‘Hello You’ track on ‘The Car’ – which contains the lyric: ‘I could pass for 17 if I just get a shave / And catch some Zzzs’: “I think that song is pretty on the nose… as uncomfortable as that may be.”
He also said about his future plans: “I have almost, like, a PDF in my mind of what we could work on.
“Wait, it wouldn’t be a PDF, would it? I think I meant to say a spreadsheet.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles has been tipped for success at both the Grammys and the Brit Awards next year.
The ‘As It Was’ singer is set to perform at the ceremonies on both sides of the Atlantic in 2023 and insiders suggest that he is likely to take home some gongs.
A music industry source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “The fact both awards’ shows are desperate for Harry to sing is a massive indicator that they don’t expect him to go home empty-handed.”
Harry has been backed to eclipse mega stars such as Adele and Beyonce to add to his single Grammy award following the success of his latest album ‘Harry’s House’.
A US insider said: “Everyone expected Adele v Beyonce to be the big Grammys story.
“But Harry’s campaign is building momentum and the early talk amongst the Grammy members is that he’s now expected to take home some of the biggest trophies.”
Meanwhile, the music heartthrob is said to have taken up golf to help him relax while touring.
A source claimed: “Harry loves to unwind by playing golf. When you’ve got over 60,000 fans screaming your name with every movement it can be overwhelming.
“A round of golf is the complete opposite of a stadium show – it’s peaceful and by its nature comes with privacy, so it’s perfect. Harry has made sure to check out as many golf courses as possible as he tours the world. He’s even added golfing clothes to his luggage.”
The 28-year-old star has revealed that he has been hard at work on his next record between shows.
Harry said: “I’m always writing.
“I think all of us are so excited to get back to it, which feels insane because we’ve just put an album out.”

The 39-year-old singer told Jada Pinkett Smith in the new issue of Interview magazine it is “irking the c***” out of her and said times have changed when she started out and feels artists had originality.
She said: “What I’m seeing now is that so many new artists are trying to become the person they looked up to instead of giving us a new flavour, and it’s irking the c*** out of me.
“I know I could see so much talent in some of the new artists but they lose me when I’m seeing the person who they are trying to be like, or sound like, more than I’m seeing who they are.
“So if I’m hearing too much of that artist who already has hits out, when I’m finished listening to your song or watching your performance, I’m going to play that artist.

“Even the female rappers, whether it was Eve, MC Lyte, who I’ve always loved, even Left Eye’s voice was so unique, to Salt-N-Pepa. (Lil) Kim and Foxy (Brown) never even sounded alike to me. Everyone had their own thing.
“You had to! Because think about it, we had a magazine that we might see our favourite person on. OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran had already started writing his James Bond theme when he was replaced by Billie Eilish.
The ‘Bad Habits’ hitmaker was in line to pen a song for the iconic spy film saga when Danny Boyle was attached to direct, but the filmmaker was replaced by Cary Joki Fukunaga, and Eilish would be brought on board to write and record ‘No Time To Die’.
Appearing on ‘That Peter Crouch Podcast’, he said: “I was within a f****** gnat’s pube of doing one, but then they changed directors, changed scripts and that was it all done.
“I had started writing it. I’m not gonna pretend it didn’t hurt not doing it.”
Howver, the 31-year-old star is still convinced he’ll get the chance to write one in the future.
He added: “I think eventually as an English singer you’ve got to eventually do a Bond song. If they come back I’ll be like, ‘Yeah yeah, of course.’ ”
However, Ed has ruled out the possibility of him doing his own football song, instead heaping praise on Frank Skinner, David Badiel and the Lightning Seeds’ classic ‘Three Lions’.
He said: “‘Three Lions’ is our national anthem.
“The thing will football songs is that it’s kind of like Christmas songs – if you don’t have anything to offer that is going to be different or better, just don’t do it.”
In terms of his music career, Ed – who has daughters Lyra and Jupiter with wife Cherry Seaborn – previously revealed he plans to cut back on touring after becoming a dad.
He said: “I would hate to get to 20 years’ time and have a relationship with my kids that had suffered because I’d chosen work over them.
“I honestly think that this next tour that I’m going on, at the end of the tour, I can’t see myself going on one of them like that again.
“I want to put as much time into my kids as possible.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher is grateful he didn’t succumb to the pitfalls of fame like Amy Winehouse during his time in Oasis.
The 55-year-old rock legend and his bandmates – including estranged younger brother Liam Gallagher – were infamous for their partying in the ’90s, with Noel once famously declaring that “drugs, it’s like getting up and having a cup of tea in the morning”.
However, the ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ songwriter had good friends and people around him to stop him going completely off the rails, unlike ‘Back to Black’ singer Amy, who tragically died in 2011 aged 27 from alcohol poisoning.
Speaking on the Pub Talk podcast, he said: “Fame can hit people really hard. I always use the story of Amy Winehouse, a lovely girl from North London.
“All of a sudden she makes that album, she becomes a world superstar, fame hit her like a truck and she didn’t make it.
“Sadly she didn’t have the people around her. I’ve been surrounded by the same people for 30 years, who look after me.
“I don’t have a transient organisation where it’s just a raft of different people every six months.
“With Amy, Pete Doherty, people like that, if you’re a grown man and you’re successful no one is going to tell you what to do if you’ve got money.”
Noel could always stop himself from going too far with his hedonistic lifestyle, because he was the songwriter in Oasis throughout the 1990s so he had to get back to work otherwise the band would have had no albums to release.
He added: “My fallback was always my work. In Oasis I was the sole songwriter so I always had my work. If I didn’t do the work then the band was going to fall apart. The partying side of it and the drugs and all that, I treated that as a bonus. I didn’t get caught up in anything other than it was just a laugh.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Wet Leg say their new album will be “bigger, better, faster”.
The indie duo – Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers – have been one of the success stories of 2022 thanks to their eponymous debut LP and hit single ‘Chaise Longue’, and work on the next record has already started although the songs are far from finished.
Speaking at the Mercury Prize 2022, Rhian said: “It’s like the last one, but longer, bigger, better, faster, stronger and more fluorescent.”
Hester added: “It will be a bit of this and a bit of that, probably.”
Wet Leg’s phenomenal rise has seen their songs covered by artists on the scale of Pearl Jam and Harry Styles, something which has both shocked and delighted them.
Rhian told NME: “It’s just strange when people know that you exist, who you wouldn’t have thought would know you exist. It’s pretty wild.”
Harry covered Wet Leg’s track ‘Wet Dream’ as part of a special Live Lounge session on BBC Radio 1, and when they saw his version appear online they were blown away.
Rhian previously said: “We were just on our phones, doing a good scroll session, and then gradually, one by one, we were like, ‘Oh my God, have you seen this? Oh my God, this appeared on the internet, and it’s Harry Styles covering ‘Wet Dream’.
“Hester always describes it as [being like] we were watching intergalactic television like on Rick and Morty. It felt like we were in a parallel universe. It was really cool. His band are amazing.
“I really wish that we could hear his rendition of all of our songs. It was really all glossy and beautiful. Yeah, it was really fun.”
Wet Leg will be the support act for Styles on his 2023 Australian/New Zealand tour.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey’s new album has been stolen.
The ‘Video Games’ singer has revealed her car was broken into whilst parked on Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles “a few months ago” and the culprit got away with her laptop computer, multiple hard drives and a camcorder.
Among the files that were taken was her ninth studio LP, a 200-page manuscript for a book she is writing for Simon Schuster and irreplaceable family home movies.
Lana has now begged her fans not to seek out or listen to any leaked music online, as the tracks will be from the stolen album.
In a now-deleted Instagram Live video, she said: “A few months ago, I parked my car on Melrose Place – actually Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles – and I stepped away for a minute.
“And the one time I left my backpack inside my car, someone broke all the windows and took it.
“I had to remotely wipe the computer that had my 200-page book for Simon and Schuster – which I didn’t have backed up on the cloud.
“And despite that, people are still able to remotely access my phone and leak our songs and personal photos. I loved the book that I lost with all of my heart and put a lot of passion into it.
“Please don’t listen to the music if you hear it, because it’s not coming out yet.
“Obviously I won’t ever leave anything in the car again, even if it’s just for a moment. But we’ve had the same issues at the house, and it is a constant thing. And although I’m so grateful to be able to share all of the good stuff, I just also want to share that it has been a challenge.”
Lana, 37, is now busy working on re-recording her songs but admits it has been immensely frustrating to have to start over on the record, the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Blue Banisters’.
The ‘Arcadia’ singer said: “I just want to mention that despite all of this happening, I am confident in the record to come -despite so many safety factors at so many different levels. I really want to persist and make the best record I can.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has recruited Laura Dern, Haim and Dita Von Teese to appear in the video series accompanying her new album ‘Midnights’.
The pop star’s latest record is released on Friday (21.10.22) and she has revealed she’s made a series of “music movies” to go with it – bringing in a number of famous faces to star in the shorts which were unveiled in a teaser trailer which dropped on Thursday night (20.10.22).
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her latest visual project, Taylor explained: “I love storytelling, I love songwriting, I love writing videos, I love directing them.”
She went on to explain she reteamed with cinematographer Rina Yang – who worked with Taylor on her extended ‘All Too Well’ short film last year which starred ‘Stranger Things’ actress Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien – and said it was a “fun opportunity for them to pair up again.
The singer added of the ‘Midnight’s movies: “We wanted to challenge ourselves to do different things this time around … I’m really proud of what we made and I really hope you like them. We worked with some amazing actors … ”
The films show Taylor taking on a number of different personas and feature stars including Laura Dern, Dita Von Teese and Jack Antonoff as well as Haim sisters Alana Haim, Danielle Haim and Este Haim. Other famous faces to appear int he films include Pat McGrath, Laith Ashley, Jon Early, Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Mike Birbiglia.
The first part of the mini-movie series – the video for third single ‘Anti-Hero’ – drops on Friday (21.10.22).

OHMYGOSSIP — Motley Crue and Def Leppard have announced a joint UK and Ireland tour for summer 2023.
The rock heavyweights – who toured North America earlier this year – have released new dates for their ‘The World Tour’, which will see the two legendary bands visit London, Glasgow and Sheffield later this year.
Motley Crue said in a statement: “We had an incredible time playing ‘The Stadium Tour’ in North America this summer and we truly can’t wait to take the show around the globe with ‘The World Tour’ in 2023.
“Crueheads in Latin America and Europe: Get ready! We’re coming for you next and can’t wait to finally see all of you out there again next year!”
Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott said: “After finally getting back on the road and having a monumental summer tour in the US and Canada this year, we’re beyond thrilled to be bringing this massive stadium tour to major cities all over the world, and kicking off Europe in Sheffield where it all started for us 45 years ago.
“We’re looking to forward to seeing you out there, somewhere soon!”
The two bands are also heading to Latin America in February and March, which will see them head to Mexico’s Mexico City and Monterrey as well as Colombian capital Bogota.
What’s more, the pair will then travel to Lima in Peru, Chile’s Santiago, before hitting three Brazilian cities, Sao Paulo, Curitiba, and Porto Alegre.
Two months later, they will head to Sheffield’s Bramall Lane for the first of their UK dates.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rina Sawayama loves being on tour after COVID-19 delayed the promo for her first album.
The ‘This Hell’ hitmaker – who is currently on her ‘Hold the Girl’ tour for her sophomore LP – had the promotion for her debut album ‘Sawayama’ halted due to pandemic in 2020 and is now enjoying she’s getting to see fans in real life respond to both of her records.
The 32-year-old pop star told Billboard magazine: “It’s the fans who couldn’t come and get their records signed the first time are coming round with two vinyls now. They’re talking about their experience about how both albums have helped them through difficult times, so it really feels like I’m promoting two albums in a way.”
Rina got her feedback “all online” and would spend lockdown reading all the comments on social media
She said: “It was all online, it was all tweets, and back then I used to read every tweet and YouTube comment and all of the stuff like that. I was reading every review and comment, and I did that for the first record — I read so many and I really cared about what everyone thought. I’ve very happily moved on from that.”
The ‘XS’ hitmaker is excited to tour the US despite “having to scale down” her performances when she takes the shows stateside.
Rina said: “There’s cities like Nashville, and places in Texas, and North Carolina, where we’ve never been to, and we’re having to scale down the show quite a bit. Even thinking about, if we’re walking five steps in the New York show to get from one end to the other, let’s say, you have to cut it down to two steps in these other places. It’s a weird puzzle, and it keeps things exciting.”
She added: “For a U.K. artist, being able to tour the U.S. and have success doing it is a dream. I feel so lucky that I can do multiple tours and festivals in the same year.”
