OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne is “overwhelmed” to be nominated for four Grammys.
The 73-year-old rocker is up for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for ‘Patient Number 9’ featuring Jeff Beck, plus Best Rock Album for the LP of the same name and Best Metal Performance for ‘Degradation Rules’, which features his former Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi.
He told Consequence: “I’m honestly overwhelmed. Making this record was a great way to me to get back to work as I continued to heal. It’s pretty great to be acknowledged at this point in my career.”
The ‘Crazy Train’ star already has three Grammys, while he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 2019.
Ozzy – who has Parkinson’s disease – underwent major life-altering surgery this year to correct neck and spine issues stemming from his nasty 2019 fall.
And on top of that, he couldn’t do much due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so making the record kept him busy doing something he loves.
He said: “Well, the thing was I had all this time – we all did through the pandemic.
“Instead of lying there and just doing my physical therapy, the record actually got me doing something that I love.
“I was thinking about the times we’ve been living in. There wasn’t much good news. It was a f****** war in Ukraine and the pandemic. The world seemed to be on the brink of a bad thing.”
Elsewhere, the ‘War Pigs’ singer said ‘Degradation Rules’ could have been a Sabbath song.
He said: “I mean that song would’ve made a great Black Sabbath track. It’s a very well-structured song.
“I’ve known Tony since I was 12 years old and I’m glad to say we’ve continued a really good friendship. Tony’s been very supportive of me while I’ve been recovering from surgery. He’s been in constant contact, which has been great.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Odell was made to feel “insufficient” by a major record label.
The ‘Another Love’ hitmaker was first signed by Columbia in 2012, and he left after fulfilling his contract last year, with his final major label album, ‘Monsters’, released in July 2021.
And the 31-year-old singer has admitted he spent years feeling “unsuccessful”.
Speaking to Britain’s Metro newspaper’s Guilty Pleasures column, he said: “For so many years, I never felt successful. One of the things that, particularly with being signed to a major is … they have a really quite impressive knack [of] making artists feel like they are insufficient in some way.
“The common phrase is, ‘You’re not making enough money, you’re not selling enough records, you can always be bigger.'”
Tom independently released his LP ‘Best Day of My Life’ last month, and he admits success to him is having special encounters with his fans, not selling out arenas and hitting streaming numbers.
He said: “You spend enough time round those sorts of people, and it begins to distort the reasons you got into it in the first place. Actually, I think what’s common among all artists is, often, we have quite humble ambitions. For me, success is, I felt more of it in the last couple of years than I ever have before.
“It’s the moments on stage when people sing your lyrics back to you, it may just be one person you see in the crowd. It draws this connection between a stranger and in the most magical way. That makes it so worthwhile.
“All of the stats and size of venues, all of that … has gone up and down. I can compare myself to someone and feel totally unsuccessful and a failure, and what’s absurd is, someone can equally do the same thing to me. It’s a pointless task.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Rowntree believes Blur got “much better” after bassist Alex James joined the band.
The Britpop legends have just announced a pair of reunion shows at London’s Wembley Stadium and Beauregard Festival in Hérouville-Saint-Clair, Normandy next July, their first in seven years.
And the sticksman has reflected on the enduring legacy of the Damon Albarn-fronted band and he credits both Alex and guitarist Graham Coxon’s talents, and the “chemistry” they all share, with their success.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “That the foundation of everything we did was the songs, that’s number one.
“Number two is that people still haven’t figured out how Graham gets that guitar sound, and as long as they don’t we’re at the leading edge of things.
“Ultimately, chemistry is the vital element. Damon [Albarn], Graham and I were in various bands pre-Blur, but we got much better when Alex [James] joined – even at the first rehearsal – and we were signed six months later.
“You can’t manufacture chemistry. Fundamentally, music is a people business, not a music business.”
Dave signed a record deal with indie label Cooking Vinyl a year ago and will release his debut solo album, ‘Radio Songs’, early next year.
“I grew up in a slightly unusual household in that, rather than go to football, my dad and I built radios together.
“My album, ‘Radio Songs’, is inspired by my relationship with radio and a lot of the stuff on it comes from recordings I made of the noises between stations. I always have a moment when my music gets played.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Maddox Jones is releasing a World Cup single for charity.
The singer was recruited by Paul Rumens, President of National League side Wealdstone FC and his wife Lori, who wanted to come up with an uplifting song for the soccer tournament, which as well as uniting England fans, would also do some good, and now ‘We’re All Here Together (Go England)’ will be released on Friday (18.11.22).
Maddox said of the track, which features a cameo from Gordon Hill aka the Wealdstone Raider: “Football brings everyone together, especially big tournaments like the World Cup.
“England is a diverse nation and I want this charity single to celebrate and promote togetherness and the diverse culture of England.
“More than ever we need to show solidarity and love, let’s all be friends and support each other and the team through this World Cup…
“It has plenty of echos of your football terrace anthem and is uplifting without trying to compete in the direction of New Order or The Lightning Seeds offerings.”
An accompanying video has been created by award-winning producer/director Robert Nek or Loud Vision.
Proceeds from the track will benefit Wealdstone FC Youth and Rockin’ Roadrunner, a club run with and for adults with disabilities.

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Marr and Andy Rourke have reunited for their first song in 35 years.
The Smiths guitarist features as a guest on ‘Strong Forever’, a track by his former bandmate’s current group, Blitz Vega.
Andy said: “We’ve remained friends, we’ve known each other since we were 13 years old. He’s my oldest and dearest friend and I feel our friendship gets stronger as time passes.”
The track was originally conceived as a charity single for an anti-discrimination in football campaign and also featured vocals from former Kasabian singer Tom Meighan alongside Johnny on guitar.
But after the ‘Fire’ hitmaker was convicted of domestic violence in 2020, the track was reworked without the charity angle and developed with DJ Z-Trip over the last two years, and now has Blitz Vega’s own Kav Blaggers on vocals.
Kav – who used to play guitar for Happy Mondays – told Rolling Stone magazine: “Andy [Rourke] calls me and he says Johnny said he’ll record some guitar on the track. I was like, ‘What? Johnny? Johnny Marr?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah,’ in his laidback but very Mancunian way.
“I wanted exactly what Johnny does.
“He has a very distinctive sound, and that’s what he did. We love what he brought to the track.”
The single is the start of big plans for Blitz Vega.
Kav said: “We have some singles coming out early next year, and we’re releasing an eight-song 12-inch vinyl for Record Store Day.
“We look forward to getting out there and taking our sounds to the people who wanna see us play live.”
While Johnny and Andy have been back in the studio together, fans shouldn’t anticipate a Smiths reunion as singer Morrissey has repeatedly ruled it out and even told the guitarist to stop talking about him in interviews.
The ‘Panic’ singer also claimed: “I don’t know a single person who wants a Smiths reunion.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Placebo have asked fans not to take pictures or videos with their mobile phones at their concerts.
Brian Molko and co kick off their UK and Ireland tour in Portsmouth tonight (18.11.22), and they’ve requested gig-goers keep their smartphones in their pockets so they can be “present in the moment” and have a transcendent experience.
A statement read: “Dear Placebo fans, we would like to kindly ask you NOT to spend the concert filming or taking photos with your mobile phones.
“It makes Placebo’s performance so much more difficult. More difficult to connect with you and to communicate effectively the emotions of the songs. It is also disrespectful to your fellow concert-goers who want to watch the show, not the back of your phone.”
They added: “Please be here and now in the present and enjoy the moment. Because this exact moment will never ever happen again. Our purpose is to create communion and transcendence. Please help us on our mission. With respect and love.”
Earlier this year, the ‘Every You Every Me’ group hosted a run of phone-free concerts.
Fans were warned: “Anyone seen using a device during the performance will be politely escorted out of the venue by security.”
Meanwhile, Placebo are on the bill for the 20th-anniversary edition of Download Festival.
Metallica, Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon will headline next year’s event, which takes place between June 8 and 11 at Donington Park, Leicestershire.
The spectacle will celebrate two decades in 2023, and to mark the milestone there will be four headline sets for the first time ever, with Metallica set to deliver two no-repeat performances on June 8 and June 10.
The ‘Enter Sandman’ rockers said: “We are next-level honoured to once again come back and partake in the Download shenanigans on the hallowed grounds of Castle Donington, which has an unparalleled place in rock history.
“On top of that, to be able to share our double show format with two completely unique sets with no repeat songs for the first time ever in the UK is way f****** cool. Bring it on!”
Bring Me The Horizon will headline the music extravaganza on June 9, and Slipknot will close the event on June 11.
Evanescence, Parkway Drive, Disturbed, Pendulum, Architects, Ghost, The Distillers, Alexisonfire, Asking Alexandria, Motionless In White, I Prevail, The Blackout (reunion), Fever 333, Stray From The Path, Lorna Shore, Nova Twins, and Municipal Waste will also perform over the weekend.
Many more acts and surprises are to be announced to celebrate Download’s 20-year legacy at Donington Park.

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyonce’s ‘Renaissance’ act II is allegedly an acoustic LP and act III is a collaboration with her husband Jay-Z.
New York Times journalist Kyle Buchanan made the claims on Twitter on Thursday (17.11.22) just in case the micro-blogging app vanished amid ongoing speculation the site is shutting down.
He wrote: “Before Twitter goes down, instead of making you follow me somewhere else, I’ll just tell you what I’ve heard about the other 2 acts of Beyonce’s 3-part “Renaissance” project
“(2nd act is an acoustic album, 3rd act is a collaboration with Jay-Z) (sic)”
The ‘Cuff It’ singer is yet to announce the next two parts of the three-part project.
Earlier this week, Beyonce received nine GRAMMY nominations for the first act.
The 41-year-old superstar – who is now tied with husband Jay-Z as the most-nominated artist in the history of the awards with a total of 88 each – enjoyed a career comeback with the chart-topping lead single ‘Break My Soul’ and record, including the prestigious Album of the Year and Song of the Year prizes.
Announcing the ambitious project back in July, Beyonce said: “This three-act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative.
“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world.
“It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking.
“A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
Meanwhile, Beyonce is reportedly planning to hit the road in 2023 for a ‘Renaissance’ world tour.
The ‘Love On Top’ singer last toured in 2018 when she hit the road with her husband after releasing their joint album ‘Everything Is Love’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Joan Armatrading is prouder of her history degree than her music.
The ‘Love and Affection’ hitmaker loves songwriting and will continue penning new tunes until the day she dies, but she insists the biggest accomplishment of her life is graduating with a BA Honours, which she studied five years for through the Open University and completed in 2001.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, she said: “I love writing songs. . . and I’ll only stop when I’m dead!”
“That has to be when I got my BA Honours degree in history.”
Asked what she is most proud of, she said: “I had to really work for that. When I’m coming up with songs . . . no problems, no angst.
“I can write for five minutes or two days and stop when I want to. I feel very fortunate that I’ve been given that gift.
“But when I did my degree, I had to learn how to phrase answers and discover the right words to use.”
She also holds six honorary degrees, doctorates or fellowships from various universities.
Joan’s 50-year music career has been marked with the release of a new live album today (18.11.22).
The 71-year-old music legend’s ‘Live at Asylum Chapel’ LP is out now.
It comes after the BBC recently honoured the singer with a screening of the show, which was streamed worldwide during lockdown last year for one night, and was followed by the documentary about her life and music, ‘Me Myself I’.
Joan said: “Fifty years is a long time but for me it’s flown by and I still get the same thrill from writing songs as when I started.
“This live album is a great way to look back and also bring my story right up to date by including songs from the latest album. I’m really happy that so many people still want to listen to them and sing along.”
Joan’s concert from south London’s Asylum Chapel featured some of her most famous songs including ‘Drop the Pilot’, ‘The Weakness in Me’, ‘Me Myself I’ and ‘Willow’.
Songs from her latest Top 10 studio album ‘Consequences’ also got their live debut, such as ‘Natural Rhythm’, ‘Consequences’, ‘Already There’, ‘Better Life’, ‘Glorious Madness’ and ‘To Anyone Who Will Listen’.
The album features Joan’s live band – Jennifer Maidman on bass, Paul Stewart (drums), Alex Lee Richards (keyboards) and Jamie Anderson (saxophone.)
Arriving on her own to join her parents in Birmingham from St Kitts aged seven, Joan taught herself to play piano and guitar before becoming Britain’s first female singer-songwriter to gain international success.
She has produced and played every instrument on her records since 2003.
Her admirers range from Bob Dylan to Arlo Parks and she is the first UK female artist to debut at No.1 in Billboard’s Blues charts and the first female UK artist to be nominated for a Grammy in the Blues category.
She has an Ivor Novello Academy Fellowship Award, Lifetime Achievement from the Radio 2 Folk Awards and an MPG Outstanding Contribution Award to UK Music.
Awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth in 2001, she was given the CBE in 2020.

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Skinner and David Baddiel give a shout-out to the Lionesses on their festive rendition of their 1996 football anthem ‘Three Lions’.
The 58-year-old comedian and his former ‘Fantasy Football’ co-host have again teamed up with the Lightning Seeds on the new version of the soccer tune – which was first released for the Euro 96 tournament before being reworked for the World Cup in 1998 – and wanted to the fact this year’s World Cup is taking place much later in the year by adding some festive sounds.
The lyrics for ‘Three Lions (It’s Coming Home For Christmas)’ have also been “updated” to reflect the historic win for the England women’s football team in the Euros tournament over the summer.
Baddiel quipped: “At last it’s between me and Mariah Carey for who really is the voice of Christmas.”
Skinner added: “We just had to do it. Christmas World Cup songs are not like buses. If we’d let this opportunity pull away, it would have been a very long wait for the next one.”
Baddiel quipped that he looks the double of Santa in the music video that sees them revisit the same house they filmed at for the original almost 30 years ago.
He told the i newspaper: “We visit the old house, where we made the 1996 video, but we were young then,” he says. “And now it’s me with a beard and a Christmas jumper. And yes, I do look like Santa.”
Baddiel is flabbergasted that this year’s World Cup, which kicks off on Sunday (20.11.22), is being hosted Qatar.
One witty verse goes: “When they decidеd on Qatar/ Should have checked VAR/ It’s too hot, and too far/ So wе’ll be snowflakes watching it here.”
And should England make it to the final, he admits it will play on his “conscience” if he attends.
He commented on the controversial choice of host city: “It’s really bad. It’s sort of amazing that internationally we let this happen… So when someone says to me ‘Oh, England are in the final – do you want to fly over?’, I will have to deal with my own conscience.”

OHMYGOSSIP — BTS’ Jin’s hit ‘The Astronaut’ is the fastest single by a solo artist to reach a million sales.
After the K-Pop boy band collaborated with Chris Martin and co on the mega-hit ‘My Universe’ on the band’s 2021 LP ‘Music of the Spheres’, the 29-year-old star teamed up with the ‘Yellow’ hitmakers to pen the his latest track, and its broken an astronomical new record.
According to The Korea Economic Daily, ‘The Astronaut’ had shifted more than 1,024,382 copies as of November 12.
As well as adding to the lyrics, Coldplay play on the track and Chris plays a news presenter in the accompanying music video.
Meanwhile, Chris previously admitted he doesn’t think Coldplay will ever beat their BTS collaboration.
The 45-year-old musician said: “I don’t think we’ll ever be able to match the BTS surprise. That was surprising even for us.
“The journey from the first time it was mentioned – I was just like ‘how could that ever work?’ – to the song itself arriving and me thinking, ‘that could be for BTS’ – to now it feeling like the most natural collaboration in the world.
“It’s an amazing lesson for myself in keeping an open mind all the time, because you just never know what life or music is gonna throw you.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Foreigner have announced the start of their ‘Historic Farewell Tour’.
The ‘I Want To Know What Love Us’ rock veterans will hit the road for the first leg of their last ever tour with a 32-date run of North American dates, starting on July 6 at the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia and ending on September 3 in Holmdel, New Jersey.
Speaking to Billboard, founder and guitarist Mick Jones said: “Foreigner is a completely revitalised band with a whole new energy that has won the hearts of our fans all over the world, and I want to go out while the band is still at the top of its game.
“I had the idea that was to become Foreigner back in 1974, and I was 30 years old at the time.
“By the end of our farewell tour, over 50 years will have passed, and that’s a long time to be on the road.”
Kelly Hansen – who has been the group’s frontman since 2005 – noted it’s something he and Mick have been talking about for a while.
He added: “It’s a very difficult decision to come to.”
He admitted the band’s extensive back catalogue is “extremely challenging for a rock tenor vocalist” to sing, and he doesn’t want to start taking shortcuts.
He explained: “I never would have thought in a million years I’d be singing these songs in the keys at this age, and I don’t know how much longer I can do that at the level I need do.
“You can drop keys and do this and do that, but I’m more of an old school person. If I’m not doing it for real then I shouldn’t be doing it.
“We’re at an era in life where a lot of bands from the ’70s are right on the ragged edge of still being able to do shows. I see other musicians sometimes that I go, ‘Wow, that was disappointing,’ and I don’t want to be someone that other people say that about.”
The band is set to announce more North American and international dates, with plans to tour until late 2024.

The 41-year-old superstar – who is now tied with husband Jay-Z as the most nominated artist in GRAMMY® history with a total of 88 each – enjoyed a career comeback earlier this year with chart-topping single ‘Break My Soul’ as well as new album ‘Renaissance ‘ and has received a total of nine nods for the upcoming ceremony, with nominations in the categories of Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best R B Song, and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album, Best R and B Performance, and Best Song Written For Visual Media.
However, the ‘Single Ladies’ hitmaker faces competition – who is closely followed by Kendrick Lamar with eight nominations in total – faces competition from the likes of fellow superstars Adele, Lizzo, and Harry Styles, for their respective albums ’30’, ‘Special’ and ‘Harry’s House’ as well as the lead singles spawned by the records.

The 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards will return to Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sun, Feb. 5, 2023, and will broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ at 8-11:30 p.m.

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain says a Harry Styles collaboration would be a “dream”.
The country music legend – who joined the former One Direction star on stage at Coachella earlier this year to perform her hits ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman’ and ‘You’re Still The One’ – would love to make “magic” with him in the studio.
Appearing on ‘TalkShopLive’ with Nancy O’Dell, she said: “I went up onstage with Harry Styles [at Coachella].
“He invited me on his stage, which was so wonderful and [he’s a] lovely, lovely person. I want to say lovely kid, but I mean he’s not a kid anymore, is he? He’s a man.
“[A collaboration] would be my dream, yes. He’s busy making movies right now. I would love that. Put it out there! Make it happen, absolutely. And magic will happen, I’m sure.”
Meanwhile, Shania is preparing for the release of new album ‘Queen of Me’, which is set to drop on February 3, 2023.
She admitted the pandemic gave her plenty of time to focus on writing, and the sessions resulted in enough material for “four albums”.
She explained: “The COVID period gave me more time than I expected. So I basically wrote four albums worth of music.
“This is just the beginning. I was so productive, I wrote a lot of music.
“So it was very difficult to narrow it down to what would then be this album, ‘Queen of Me’, but, of course, once I determined the real focus of the sentiment of the album, what I want to express personally out there right now, which is the Queen of Me message, be the queen of yourself, the boss of you and take responsibility for the good and the bad and everything that comes in between.
“So the songs naturally fell into place after that, once I had a good beginning, which was the title.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift screamed for “10 minutes straight” after she received a Grammy Awards nomination for Song of the Year.
The 32-year-old star is up for the accolade – which she has never won – for her 10-minute version of ‘All Too Well’, which she penned with Liz Rose, and Taylor is grateful to the songwriter for believing in her.
She wrote on her Instagram Stories: “Just got off the phone with @lizrosemusic, my co writer on ATW, and reminisced about how we started writing together when I was 14.
“She believed in me then and we are nominated together now. It’s just so cute I can’t cope. I want to ramble about the magic and mystery of time and fate and reclaiming my art but instead I think I’ll go scream for ten minutes straight.
“And think about how this wouldn’t have happened without you. (sic)”
Taylor – an 11-time Grammy Award winner – admitted receiving a nod for the tune is “momentous and surreal”.
She added: “So many reasons to lose my damn mind today but… All Too Well 10 is the song I’m the most proud of, out of anything I’ve written.
“The fact that it’s nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys, an award I’ve never won, that honours the songwriting… it’s momentous and surreal.”
‘All Too Well’ was originally part of Taylor’s 2012 album ‘Red’, but she re-recorded the record after Scooter Braun bought her master recordings in 2019.
That led to ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’, which dropped in November 2021 and featured a 10-minute version of ‘All Too Well’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi wanted to delay his Ed Sheeran collaboration.
The ‘Forget Me’ hitmaker is set to release his new single ‘Pointless’ – which he co-wrote with the ‘Bad Habits’ singer – and while he’s incredibly proud of the song, he didn’t want a certain label if it was the first track people heard from his new album.
He told Music Week: “I think he’s the best British songwriter of the last 20 years, but I had reservations about putting out a Sheeran co-write as the first song because it would be portrayed as ‘Ed Sheeran wrote my first single back’ and I didn’t want that to be the takeaway.
“He understood where I was coming from.”
It’s expected the song will be released as a single soon, and Lewis has opened up about how the track came together.
He explained: “I went into the studio with Johnny McDaid and Steve Mac and at the end of the first day they said, ‘We wrote this verse with Ed, but we couldn’t think of a chorus to save our lives, do you want to have a look?’
“So I gave it a listen, did my interpretation of a chorus and a middle eight and it came together well.”
Lewis previously revealed he made a change to the song – which will feature upcoming second studio album ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’ – because he felt the lyrics were outdated.
The lyric Ed suggested was, “She gives me more than everything, I’ll give her my last name,” but the Scottish singer felt it wasn’t right to suggest a woman should automatically change her surname to her husband’s last name when they get married, so he took it out.
He said: “I was like, ‘Ed, this is 2022. No-one has to take anyone’s second name. I’m not singing that!’
“I don’t even think that Ed’s own wife has got his last name.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gucci Mane has paid tribute to Takeoff in a new song.
The rapper references the late Migos star – whom he frequently collaborated with – on his track ‘Letter To Takeoff’, which was written after the musician was shot dead earlier this month at the age of 28 following an altercation at a club in Houston.
On the song – which has been produced by Zaytoven – he raps: “How the f*** we gon’ lose Takeoff? Damn, he didn’t deserve it. We don’t supposed to question God, but, damn, Takeoff was perfect.”
He also references the shooting deaths of XXXTentacion, Young Dolph and PnB Rock in the lyrics, as well as the death of Shawty Lo in a car crash.
In a spoken outro, he continues his tribute to Takeoff and sends a message of support to the late star’s family.
He says: “Long live The Rocket. We love you, Takeoff. We miss you already. We never gon’ forget you.
“Let’s start giving our loved ones they flowers while they here, because it’s crazy out here.
“One day you’re here, the next day you could be gone. And it’s sad. Takeoff, you will forever be in my heart.
“It’s been over ten years since I met you at my studio. I knew immediately you would be a star. You left behind some amazing memories that will last forever.
“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about you. We talk about you still, and you will never be forgotten.”
As well as working with Migos members Takeoff, Quavo and Offset many times during their respective careers, he also teamed up with the trio on the 2014 mixtape ‘The Green Album’.
