OHMYGOSSIP — Pablo Milanés has died at the age of 79.
The GRAMMY award-winning singer-songwriter was known for Cuban hits like ‘Yolanda’ and ‘Amo Esta Isla’ but passed away recently, his management has confirmed.
Without revealing a cause of death, on Monday (22.11.22), his team posted on Facebook: “With great pain and sadness, we regret to report that Maestro Pablo Milanés has passed away this early morning on November 22 in Madrid. We deeply appreciate all the shows of love and support, to all his family and friends, in this very difficult time. May he rest in the love and peace he always transcended. He will remain forever in our memory.”
The ‘Vengo Naciendo’ hitmaker is survived by his children Haydée, Suylén , Lynn Milanés, and Antonio – who he has with ex-wife Yolanda but was married to Nancy Perez at the time of his death – and his passing comes just months after he made his final public appearance at his own headlining concert in Havana in June 2022.
Pablo previously explained that his hit ‘Yolanda’ – which was inspired by his first wife – had been “overwhelming ” in terms of the success of his career, noting that the song had been more “persistent ” than he ever would have hoped.
He said: “Yolanda has been overwhelming for my career. She has been stronger than me, more unpredictable than me, more persistent than I would have desired. Therefore, I believe the creation itself surpasses the artist’s intentions!”
In 2010, Pablo – who lived in Spain at the time of his death – came to public attention once again when signed a document entitled Manifesto of Cuban Civil Society calling for urgent social and economic reforms in Cuba.
At the time, he said: “Our country, united, needs to give way to new voices and new ways of thinking, that are demanding new laws and new freedoms,”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sparks are to play two shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The American pop and rock duo – which consists of brothers Ron and Russell Mael – will take to the stage at the prestigious venue in 2023 and explained that getting the chance to play at the London concert hall is a “dream come true” and has always been a goal since they started their career in 1966.
In a statement, they said: “Since we first started playing music, the Royal Albert Hall has been the pinnacle of British music venues for us and a place we’ve always aspired to play. These shows are a dream come true!”
The show – which follows on from a world tour undertaken by the ‘Beat the Clock’ hitmakers in 2021 – will coincide with the release of a brand new album and will run at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 May 2023.
Last year, the brothers – who are best known for hits ‘ The Number One Song in Heaven’ and ‘Cool Places’ but have released 25 studio albums over the course of their career – launched documentary ‘The Sparks Brothers’ and vocalist Russell explained that the film had been “received so well” and teased that they would be coming to the UK following their high-selling US tour.
He said: “The documentary has been so well received. We’re playing in America just before coming to the UK and the rest of Europe, and the tour has been selling incredibly well, we think as a result of the documentary bringing about this new awareness to the band. We can see the direct results of the impact it has had. It’s a really special period for us.”
Tickets for the Royal Albert Hall shows go on sale on Friday 25 November at 10am, with a fan club presale taking place on Wednesday at 10am.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna’s live return will be the focus of a new documentary.
The ‘Lift Me Up’ singer – who gave birth to her first child, a baby boy, with A$AP Rocky in May – will headline the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on 12 February and cameras will be reportedly following every step of her preparations for the huge gig as part of a fly-on-the-wall programme for AppleTV+.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “There is a massive appetite for everything to do with Rihanna, especially as this will be her major return to the stage for the first time in years.
“She will be recorded during rehearsals and meetings in the lead-up to the big night and give an insight into what her life is really like now she is returning to pop as a mum.
“Rihanna is a massive force to be reckoned with when it comes to music and so Apple has paid millions.
“The Super Bowl is one of, if not the, biggest stages in the world, so her show was always going to be huge. Add on top of that it’s a live comeback and the pressure is immense.
“She is keen for the world to remember why she is one of the greatest performers of all time.”
Rihanna recently admitted she is “nervous” and “excited” about headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
She said: “I’m nervous … but I’m excited.”
The ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker previously turned down the chance to perform at the Super Bowl in 2019, due to the way Colin Kaepernick, 34, was allegedly treated by the NFL.
The former San Francisco 49er refused to stand for the American national anthem at the beginning of games to protest against police brutality and racial inequality and wasn’t signed by any teams after he became a free agent – leading him to sue the NFL in November 2017, saying team owners colluded not to hire him.
The suit was withdrawn in 2019, after Colin and the NFL reached a confidential settlement, but he remains unsigned.
Rihanna said of her decision: “I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people.
“I just couldn’t be a sell-out. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organisation that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”

OHMYGOSSIP — N-Dubz were forced to cancel a show after Dappy was ordered to “rest” by a doctor.
The trio – also made up of Tulisa Contostavlos and Fazer – took to Twitter to say sorry to fans after their gig at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on Tuesday (22.11.22) had to be postponed, because Dappy wasn’t able to perform.
They said in a statement: “We’re so sorry we had to cancel the show tonight. We tried to do everything possible to make the show happen, but a doctor advised at the very last minute that Dappy was unable to perform and needed to rest tonight…”
But N-Dubz insisted their show at London’s O2 Arena is still going ahead on Wednesday (23.11.22), as will the rest of their tour, and they are to release further news when Dappy – real name Dino Contostavlos – has seen a doctor again.
They added: “The O2 Arena show tomorrow (November 23rd) and the rest of the tour will still be going ahead. We will make a further statement after Dappy has seen the doctor again tomorrow morning
We had to take this advice seriously and consider Dappy’s health so that the rest of the tour can happen, which has so far has been amazing.
“We’re deeply sorry to all the fans who travelled to see us tonight and promise to make it up to you with a new rescheduled date for the show.

Dappy admitted he is suffering from a chest infection and his voice has “gone”.
On Tuesday night, he wrote in a series of Instagram Stories: “To many back to back shows with no proper breaks, now I’m completely f*****. Voice basically gone, flue, chest infection etc etc

OHMYGOSSIP — The Black Crowes’ Rich Robinson shoved a stage invader back into the crowd with his guitar at their Melbourne concert.
The American rockers were performing at the Palais Theatre on Sunday (20.11.22) when the wayward crowd member was chased by security as he pounced across the stage before being pushed into the audience.
Singer Chris Robinson shouted: “Hey, you throw that mother****** out, right.
“You get the f*** out of here.”
The band – who have been performing their 1990 debut studio album ‘Shake Your Money Maker’ in its entirety on the jaunt – then resumed playing ‘Stare It Cold’.
The brothers reunited in 2019 to announce a 2020 tour, but it was delayed due to the pandemic.
Following five years of estrangement, Chris admitted the relationship between them can still “precarious” so they felt it was important to add all new members to the band.
He said of their early reunion talks: “We were both, right off the bat, ‘No one from the past in the band’.
“It’s still precarious between us – you throw a bunch of that old s*** around, entrenched patterns of behaviour, and it’s just gonna trigger again.”
After the group split, Chris privately sought therapy and has found it “unimaginably beneficial”.
He said at the time: “I’ve been in therapy with the same therapist for the past eight or nine years and it has been unimaginably beneficial in my life.
“I was hurt and resentful. I was in a failure of a marriage and I was depressed.
“I needed to find who I was outside of the lead singer of a rock band. I needed a complete dismantling of everything. I wanted to live another dream.”
The siblings are joined by bassist Sven Pipien, while their touring line-up includes guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, keyboardist Joel Robinow, drummer Brian Griffin and the latest addition, keyboard player Erik Deutsch.

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine and the Queens has been unveiled as the curator of Meltdown Festival 2023.
The ‘Tilted’ hitmaker admits his “curating” has been “erratic” of late, with the star finding themselves yearning for the music of their adolescence.
However, the artist promises music with real emotion.
Speaking about the announcement, Chris said: “What an honour to be picked by the fantastical teams of the Meltdown festival to be a curator this year ! It’s a tough thing to be a curator.
“Art wise, recently, my curating was erratic. Visceral. Sometimes regressive, back to the music I listened to when I was a teenager. A life-saviour, music. One song to soothe them all. We expect from art to still save us yet we endanger it so much, everywhere. Thinking it should sell and clatter like jewels. Thinking it should be the catchiest s*** in less than ten seconds when truly the birth of an emotion takes years in some people.”
He continued: “We want it to heal it all but we deprive it of its true strength, which is eternity, a cancellation of human time. Now it’s fast, quick, a lot, and never about eternity. Cause eternity is death, too. It’s a cycle of ashes and birth. Over and over again.
Chris added: “The time Meltdown takes is quite exquisite, the abundance feels appropriately generous too. We need this for ourselves, art in the city, art for the citizen, collective catharsis, a wonderful purge of the soul.
“I hope you’ll enjoy this glorious edition and again, long live poetry that burns and musicians crazy and brave enough to keep going – they are shaping the emotions of the future. Let’s thank them all!”
The 2021 edition was curated by Grace Jones and saw performances from the likes of Peaches, Skunk Anansie, John Grant, Sky Ferreira, and Hot Chip.
Previous curators include Nile Rodgers, David Bowie, The Cure’s Robert Smith, Yoko Ono and Patti Smith.
The festival returns on June 9, 2023, through to June 18, and is held at London’s Southbank Centre.

OHMYGOSSIP — Morrissey has cancelled two US gigs due to “band illness”.
Earlier this month, the musician abandoned his Los Angeles gig after just 30 minutes.
The former Smiths star was playing a solo gig at the famous Greek Theatre on November 12 when he left the stage abruptly, leaving a member of his band to inform the audience the concert was postponed.
The band member said: “Sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the show is not going to continue. Very sorry. We’ll see you next time.”
A note on Morrissey’s official Instagram page read: “Thank you for coming out last night, LA. We love you and are grateful for your support. Please stand by for further announcements coming shortly.”
Many fans took to Twitter to claim the 63-year-old star had complained of being “too cold”, but no reason was given from Morrissey’s camp.
And now, Morrissey has pulled two shows in Salt Lake City and Denver this week, with the North American jaunt due to resume at The Fillmore in Minneapolis, on Friday (25.11.22) – “all being well”.
A social media statement read: “Due to band illness, we are devastated to announce we cannot proceed with tonight’s show in Salt Lake City and tomorrow’s show in Denver.
“Thank you to the fans for the ongoing love and support while we take a moment to restore and recover.
“All being well, M and the band will be back on stage in Minneapolis on Friday night.”
The ‘Everyday Is Like Sunday’ hitmaker was dropped by his label BMG in 2020, and he had been set to release his 14th studio album ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers’ in February next year.
However, that is no longer the case, with Morrissey claiming he’s waiting on Capitol Records to make a decision.
Teasing the LP last year, he said: “The worst year of my life concludes with the best album of my life.”
Upon hearing he had been let go by his label, Morrissey said it was “perfectly in keeping with the relentless galvanic horror of 2020.”
He wrote at the time: “This is perfectly in keeping with the relentless galvanic horror of 2020. We would be critically insane to expect anything positive. My three albums with BMG have been the best of my career, and I stand by them till death. Recording them has been a pivotal period in my life, and I thank the previous BMG team and everyone involved for that. It’s still important to me to do music my own way, and I wouldn’t want to be on a label that dictates so specifically how their artists should behave – especially when the word ‘talent’ is notably never mentioned.”
Morrissey is known for his outspoken views, previously calling halal meat “evil”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Wilko Johnson has died aged 75.
The musician – who was the guitarist for the legendary pub rock group Dr Feelgood in the 1970s – was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in 2013, and sadly passed away on Monday (21.11.22).
A statement on his Twitter page read: “This is the announcement we never wanted to make, and we do so with a very heavy heart: Wilko Johnson has died.
“He passed away at home on Monday 21st November. Thank you for respecting the family’s privacy at this very sad time. RIP Wilko Johnson.”
Wilko refused to give in to self-pity because he knew everyone’s time draws to an end eventually.
He said in 2017: “That year thinking my life was at an end was one of the greatest years of my life.
“The way I handled it was at all times to understand, ‘Yes, I’m gonna die’ but don’t sit there wishing you aren’t gonna die because we’re all gonna die. I never felt self-pity. I was never in tears all that time…
“Looking out at thousands and thousands of people [at Fuji Rock in Japan] and they all know you’re gonna die… oh man. I’m gonna die, but it’s alright. What a high.”
The legendary guitarist – whose beloved wife Irene died of cancer in 2004 – defied the odds and overcome the disease following a risky 12-hour operation and admitted it can be “hard” to know he survived where so many others don’t.
He added: “It’s hard to know there are people suffering from cancer who don’t survive, and then me.”
The Essex-born star was famous for his unique fingerstyle guitar-playing without a pick.
Paul Weller, 64, was inspired by Wilko, once saying: “Wilko may not be as famous as some other guitarists, but he’s right up there. And there are a lot of people who’ll say the same. I can hear Wilko in lots of places. It’s some legacy.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Heavy Music Awards are heading to the OVO Arena Wembley next year.
The annual music ceremony celebrating the very best in heavy music first launched in 2017 at London’s House of Vans, with a capacity of just 850.
Last year’s event took place at the slightly bigger O2 Forum Kentish Town, which holds 2,300, and now the HMAs are moving on up to the British capital’s second-largest arena.
The awards show returns on May 26, 2023.
The likes of Slipknot, Metallica, Bring Me The Horizon and Enter Shikari have been championed by the HMAs.

OHMYGOSSIP — Iggy Azalea has sold her entire master recording and publishing catalogue to Domain Capital for an impressive eight-figure sum.
The mega deal includes the rap star’s biggest hits: ‘Fancy’, ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Problem’.
As reported by Billboard, the 32-year-old will benefit from a “trigger” for future earnings on masters.
The music star is also now the sole owner of her label Bad Dreams and is poised to finalise a new distribution deal.
Iggy says she does not need to “work another day in my life”.
She tweeted: “I sold a portion of my catalog to who I wanted, for an amount that means I don’t have to work another day in my life. (sic)”
Anthony Tittanegro, executive managing director of Domain Capital Group, commented: “We are excited to launch our first diversified private entertainment royalty fund.

Then, Iggy jokingly added: “I would be a lot happier right now if I had a personal sized pizza in my hands. (sic)”
By contrast, Iggy previously confessed to feeling “utterly deprived of a personal life” during her early years in the music business.
The Australian star – who has Onyx, two, with ex-boyfriend Playboi Carti – wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “Here’s the thing I think everyone working hard toward a dream should know.
“On the road to ur goal there will be moments u feel insane, utterly deprived of a personal life and like everything’s falling apart.
“When u reach ur goal… u will still have those moments.
“Its normal. (sic)”
Iggy announced in 2021 that she was taking a break from music for “a few years” to focus on “other creative projects”.
However, the rapper later confirmed her return to the music scene via a Twitter post.
Iggy wrote online: “A year ago I was willing to walk away from music because I was tired of the negative energy it attracted.
“But what I’ve learned is that even when I’m minding my business, y’all gonna be negative AND nosey.
“So if I can’t have peace, neither can you.
“I’m coming back. Cry about it. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher is set to headline Boardmasters in August 2023.
The 50-year-old singer – who shot to global stardom as the lead singer of Oasis – has been confirmed as one of the headline acts for the surf and music festival in Cornwall, which is being staged between August 9 and 13.
Boardmasters is, in fact, the only festival in the country to secure Liam’s services for the summer of 2023.
Elsewhere, Florence + The Machine have also been announced among the first wave of artists for the next edition of the festival, which promises to be even bigger than before.
Meanwhile, Little Simz will be another star performer at the festival, with the award-winning rapper set to take to the stage in Cornwall.
Other confirmed artists for Boardmasters include DJ Four Tet, rap-rock duo Bob Vylan and electro-pop duo Jockstrap.
Beyond the music, festivalgoers will be able to sign up for the Surf and Adventure packages, which are geared towards people of all abilities and lessons will be available to fans throughout the event.
Local surf schools and expert instructors will provide these lessons and get attendees in the water.
Meanwhile, the Adventure packages will offer a broad range of experiences to festivalgoers, including coasteering, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and bodyboarding.
Organisers of the event have actually confirmed that demand is already at an all-time high, with tens of thousands of fans signing up for the festival’s pre-sale.
Boardmasters will once again bring together some of the biggest names in the music industry, as well as some of the most exciting surf talent.

The pop megastar won the biggest prize of the night, Artist of the Year, for the seventh time and her re-recorded ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ was crowned Favourite Pop Album and Favourite Country Album.

During her acceptance speech for Artist of the Year at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday (20.11.22), the ‘Karma’ hitmaker admitted she has her fans to thank for her “happiness”.
She said: “In the past few years, I have released more music than I did in the decade preceding that.
“I really feel like that’s down to the fact that you, the fans, made it clear that you wanted to hear lots of music … I found that the more music I made [and] the more music I put out, the happier I was.”
She continued: “I have the fans to thank, essentially, for my happiness. I love you more than I can say. I cannot express how unbelievable it is to me that I get to do this and that you still care. So, thank you underlined with 13 exclamation points.”

K-Pop megastars BTS received two awards for Favourite Group and Favourite K-Pop Artist and made history as they’ve won the former prize four times.

Lionel Richie was honoured with this year’s Icon Award.
Performers included Stevie Wonder, Pink, Dove Cameron, and special guest Cardi B joined GloRilla for a surprise performance of ‘Tomorrow 2’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink paid tribute to Dame Olivia Newton-John at the American Music Awards (AMAs) on Sunday (20.11.22).
The 43-year-old singer donned a sparkly feathered gown to perform ‘Hopeless Devoted to You’ from ‘Grease’ in honour of the late singer – who died of breast cancer in August age 73 – while images of Olivia were shown on a screen behind her at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
Pink – who was joined at the ceremony by husband Carey Hart and their children Willow, 11, and five-year-old Jameson – also performed her new single, ‘Never Gonna Not Dance Again’, live for the first time earlier in the evening.
Ahead of the event, the ‘Raise Your Glass’ hitmaker admitted it was “an absolute honour” to have been asked to pay tribute to Olivia.
She told ABC7: “I had the pleasure of being around her several times, and she was as darling as you would imagine.
“She was such an icon, and it’s a really big honour to be able to sing her [music].”
Pink had tried to keep details of her performance a secret, but previously revealed her daughter had helped her to learn the song.
She said: “I can’t tell you [what I’m singing], but I will tell you that my daughter did ‘Grease’ in her last summer production, and she is teaching me the song. It’ll be magical.”
And the ‘So What’ singer admitted her daughter is one of her toughest critics because she knows her music better than she does.
She said: “Willow’s gnarly when I forget the words to my own songs. I made a bet with her once.
“She was like, ‘That’s not the right words.’ I’m like, ‘I wrote it.’ She’s like, ‘That’s not the words.’ And we went back, she won. It’s tough.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Trent Reznor is quitting Twitter as the “toxic environment” is not good for his mental health.
The Nine Inch Nails frontman, 57, admits before Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of the social media site was the final nail in the coffin for his departure from the app.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “We don’t need the arrogance of the billionaire class to feel like they can just come in and solve everything.
“Even without him involved, I just find that it has become such a toxic environment. For my mental health, I need to tune out. I don’t feel good being there anymore.”
Meanwhile, Kanye West returned to Twitter at the weekend.
The 45-year-old rap star was banned from the micro-blogging platform – which was acquired by billionaire business magnate Musk late last month – when he made a slew of anti-Semitic comments, but his account was reactivated in early November, and he’s tweeting once more.
On Sunday (20.11.22), he wrote: “Testing Testing Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked”(sic)
The ‘Stronger’ hitmaker – who was previously married Kim Kardashian and has North, nine, Saint, six, Psalm, four, and three-year-old Chicago with the reality star – had initially tweeted that he was “going death con 3 on Jewish people”, and, prior to that, caused controversy when he wore a White Lives Matter t-shirt during Paris Fashion Week.
Tesla founder Musk previously insisted Kanye’s return was approved before he acquired the company.
He initially explained: “Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints. No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes. (sic).”
Kanye’s tweet came just hours after former US President Donald Trump – who was permanently blocked from the platform in January 2021, following the attack at the US Capitol in Washington, in which his supporters stormed the building while votes were being counted to verify Joe Biden’s election win – was also reinstated onto the platform.
Musk tweeted: “The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei.”
Shortly afterwards, @RealDonaldTrump was live again, but the 75-year-old businessman has yet to tweet from the account since the ban was lifted.

OHMYGOSSIP — INXS wanted a female vocalist to take over from the late Michael Hutchence.
Baby Animals vocalist Suze DeMarchi, who jumped on vocals for the ‘Need You Tonight’ band at a concert in 2000, has revealed she was asked to be the permanent replacement for the frontman – who tragically took his own life in November 1997 aged 37.
Suze was “seriously” considering taking up the offer, but then the group decided to scout for their new lead vocalist on the 2005 reality show, ‘Rock Star: INXS’.
Speaking on the LiSTNR program ‘Behind The Hits’, she said: “There was a formal offer from their manager.
“They didn’t say, ‘You’re going to make this, we’ll do this, some of that … It hadn’t got[ten] to that point, but [there were] conversations with their manager at the time, David Edwards, and Andrew and I had spoken quite a bit about it….
“Just before they had done that show, I was really seriously thinking about doing it. I was just about to go, ‘Yeah, maybe we could try this,’ and then they said, ‘Well, we want to do this show.’ So that’s how it went down.”
They ended up choosing JD Fortune, a fan who had been living out of his car.
He sang on the 2005 album ‘Switch’ and 2010’s ‘Original Sin’.
Multi-instrumentalist Jon Farriss admitted they all wanted a female singer.
He said: “We all wanted [the winner] to be a girl.
“We loaded it with girls. It was 15 contestants – it was eight girls and seven guys.”
JD’s tenure ended in 2011, with Ciaran Gribbin briefly stepping in before INXS announced at a concert at Perth Arena in November 2012 that they would no longer tour.

OHMYGOSSIP — Duran Duran have added five dates to their ‘FUTURE PAST’ tour.
The ‘Hungry Like the Wolf’ group will play Manchester’s AO Arena on April 29, 2023, followed by London’s The O2 Arena, Leeds’ First Direct Arena, Birmingham’s Utilita Arena, and the 3 Arena in Dublin.
A press release teases that: “More activity is soon to be announced.”
Frontman Simon Le Bon said: “2022 has been an extraordinary year for Duran Duran – mainly down to the incredible fans we have around the world. In July we celebrated our years together at Hyde Park as part of the British Summer Time Festival. Next Spring we will be back on home soil once again to continue the party. It’s remarkable to me that as a band, we are still hitting new milestones, still able to introduce the sound of DD to new generations of music lovers. We are truly grateful that we get to do what we do on a daily basis, and that we still love our job as much as we did when we started out some four decades ago.”
