OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Lee related “a lot” to Billie Eilish’s struggles with fame.
Both artists penned a lot about dealing with the pressures of the spotlight on their second albums, Evanescence’s ‘The Open Door’ and the ‘No Time To Die’ hitmaker’s 2021 LP ‘Happier Than Ever’.
Speaking to Korn’s Jonathan Davis in the new issue of Metal Hammer magazine, Amy, 40, recalled: “I was a hard adjustment. I was 21 [when ‘Bring Me To Life’ came out], and I was often the only female anywhere.
“In my mind, I thought, ‘That doesn’t matter!’, but you do start to feel alone.
“It wasn’t just about being female…”
She continued: “We’ve grown up and times have changed, but in the beginning it was scary.
“I used a lot of that for inspiration for the second album [2006’s ‘The Open Door’].
“Billie Eilish’s second album does that too, and I found myself really relating to that a lot.”
The ‘Wasted On You’ singer previously applauded the 20-year-old megastar for being “willing to be vulnerable and real”.
Amy said of the ‘Therefore I Am’ hitmaker’s record-breaking debut album ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’: “It is not very often that something comes out anymore and I love the whole album. I still love albums and that is a great album that I listen to every song. What I like about it is the darkness; It’s super dark and willing to be vulnerable and real.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Francis Rossi has dreams about his late bandmate Rick Parfitt.
The 73-year-old rock star shot to fame as the co-founder and lead singer of Status Quo alongside Rick Parfitt – who died from sepsis at the age of 68 in 2016 – and revealed that his death has made him think about his own mortality.
He said: “Death? Yeah. I’ve had pneumonia three times, and the last one was 2017. F***, have you ever been ill and you lie there at night sometimes and think you could die in your sleep now? That was it. I’m hoping there is a time that you just go, it’s time to check out. And if it comes to a time of someone having to wipe my derriere, I’m going. I dreamed of [Rick] last night. I was supposed to be doing a vocal for a soundtrack on a movie. He said, ‘I think you should let me sing this’, well, that was Rick all over, ‘Let me, let me, let me.'”
The ‘Down Down’ hitmaker has reunited with his remaining bandmates Andy Bown, John Edwards, Leon Cave, and Richie Malone and went on to dispute the idea that they cannot hit the road again without Rick.
He told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “The naysayers said ‘they can’t do it without Rick… blah, blah, blah’, And they may be right for all I know. But it just makes you dig in..”
Meanwhile, Francis commented on the controversial decision to hold the World Cup in Qatar – where homosexuality is illegal – and noted that the laws are just “their laws” while acknowledging it is a “very hard” choice for fellow performers to turn down the lucrative chance to perform in the Middle East country.
He said: “It’s their laws, whether I agree with them is another matter. Whether [Qatar was awarded the rights to host the World Cup] in a bent way or not, we’re now going to say the rest of the world isn’t bent? Including our own country and our own government? Robbie [Williams] went and did that because they put a lot of zeroes in front of him. It’s very, very hard to not do it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — N-Dubz resumed their tour on Wednesday night (23.11.22), despite Dappy still having voice issues.
The ‘I Need You’ hitmakers were forced to cancel their show at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on Tuesday (22.11.22) because the 35-year-old singer wasn’t able to perform due to his voice “going”, but they made their gig at London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday.
N-Dubz have now re-arranged their Nottingham gig for December 7th.
They said in a statement: “We are so sorry to have let so many fans down in Nottingham last night, but we are pleased to confirm that the show has been rescheduled to December 7th.
“Tickets from last night are still valid for the new date”
While the group – also made up of Tulisa Contostavlos and Fazer – were able to play their London show, Dappy admitted shortly beforehand that his voice was “still not fully back”.
He said on social media: “So yeah, my voice is still not fully back. I took some antibiotics last night and quite a few different syrups.
“I started trying to sing a few notes today and I could,’ he added in the clip, demonstrating.
“Then I said, let’s do it, let’s do today’s show.”
Dappy was ordered to rest by a doctor this week, forcing the band to postpone their Nottingham performance.
They said in a statement: “We’re so sorry we had to cancel the show tonight. We tried to do everything possible to make the show happen, but a doctor advised at the very last minute that Dappy was unable to perform and needed to rest tonight…”
Dappy admitted he was suffering from a chest infection and said his voice had “gone”.
On Tuesday night, he wrote in a series of Instagram Stories: “To many back to back shows with no proper breaks, now I’m completely f*****. Voice basically gone, flue, chest infection etc etc
“Nottingham, I pray things change in the next hour with me.
“Voice is fully gone now [heart-broken emoji]
“I’m so sorry Nottingham (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rapper GloRilla sent a fan $1,000 to help with their bills.
The Grammy-nominated star – whose real name is Gloria Woods – was happy to send the monetary support to the follower who reached out on Facebook.
They wrote: “Aye can I borrow 400 until next week? … I’LL PAY BACK SUH #HELPASISTAOUT #CASHAPPME. (sic)”
The ‘Tomorrow’ star then asked what the money was for and a friend of the user replied: “This is my best friend… she works hella hard to take care of three children ALL BY HERSELF while working full time! [She has] been busting her a$$ and she deserves a break… (sic)”
A screenshot of the money received on Cash App was then shared by the user and GloRilla sent the message: “Stay blessed.”
Meanwhile, GloRilla was recently joined on stage by her cousin Cardi B at the American Music Awards to perform their collaboration ‘Tomorrow 2’.
She said of their close bond in a recent interview: “I ain’t got a lot of friends, and I’m just easy to deal with. Cardi is my cousin. I was so happy and excited during the whole creative process.
“Cardi is a really sweet soul and has such a genuine heart, and we come from a similar background, so it was easy to connect. And it was crazy when [‘Tomorrow 2’] hit the charts. I was like, ‘Ah! Ain’t nobody know about me a couple months ago!”
GloRilla’s track ‘F.N.F. (Let’s Go)’ is nominated for Best Rap Performance at next year’s Grammys, and she said it’s karma for those who dissed her and her friends.
Reacting to the nod, she tweeted: “The same song they was clowning me and my friends about saying we was Ugly and Dusty just got nominated for a Grammy.
“WHEN GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE YOU CANNOT FAIL. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has hit back at those who don’t like him performing Oasis songs.
The ‘Slide Away’ group’s former frontman branded anyone who takes issue with him singing their tunes at his solo gigs not true fans of the Britpop legends.
He fumed on Twitter: “Anyone who got a problem with me singing oasis tunes ain’t real oasis fans there just massive *****. (sic)”
Liam declared: “Oasis till I die.”
The ‘Wall of Glass’ singer recently claimed that estranged brother Noel Gallagher “blocked” him from using Oasis songs in his ‘Knebworth 22’ documentary.
The 50-year-old star documented his return to Knebworth as a solo star earlier this summer as he performed at the Hertfordshire site 26 years on from the ‘Wonderwall’ band’s iconic shows in 1996, but he explained that none of the band’s classic tracks will feature in the film because of his “angry squirt” of a sibling.
Asked by a fan on Twitter if Oasis songs would feature, Liam replied: “No Oasis songs as the angry squirt has blocked them.
“(Noel) also blocked the Oasis (song) I sang for Taylor Hawkins tribute, he’s a horrible little man.”
Another fan replied to Liam’s tweet, saying: “(Noel) was praising u on (sic) his last interview. This is maddening. The doc will still be excellent tho. (sic)”
In reply, Liam – who has been in a public spat with Noel, 55, since the guitarist quit Oasis split in 2009 – said: “What (Noel) says and does are two different things he’s a sad little dwarf.”
Returning to the subject, later on, the ‘Once’ hitmaker said: “You can stop us using the songs but you can’t erase our memories shame on you Noel Gallagher.”
‘Knebworth 22’ was released in cinemas worldwide on November 17.
Discussing the project, Liam said: “I’m still in shock that I got to play Knebworth two nights, 26 years after I played it with Oasis. I’m still trying to get my head around it. To have played to multiple generations at the same venue so many years apart was beyond Biblical. I’m so glad that we documented it.
“Knebworth for me was and always will be a celebration of the fans as well as the music. Enjoy the film and let’s do it again in another 26 years. LG x.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The new BRIT Award for 2023 has been unveiled by its designer, Slawn.
The Nigerian-born artist – who has been championed by late fashion icon Virgil Abloh and Grime star Skepta – follows in the footsteps of the likes of Dame Vivienne Westwood, Sir Peter Blake, Tracey Emin, and Dame Zaha Hadid in designing the award that will be handed to recipients at the music bash at London’s The O2 arena on February 11.
He commented: “I’m overjoyed and honoured to have been chosen. It is an incredible privilege to have the opportunity to take part in this celebration of fellow creatives since The BRITs are an iconic, self-named celebration of British creativity, and a genuine testament to the richness of talent-making and producing music both in this nation and throughout the world. The BRIT Awards are a classic celebration of global talent and a powerful forum to genuinely reflect on the shifting nature of culture and the contribution of people to that culture.”
Slawn wanted to the design to have both a “sense of refinement and playfulness”.
The artist decided to remove the helmet as a “hats off” to the BRITs for giving him the honour of designing the award.
He said: “I wanted to design an award that had a sense of refinement and playfulness at the same time. I am conscious of the narrow line I tread between conventional art and the entertainment industry. I wanted to convey feelings of gratitude and celebration since I know that opportunities such as this don’t come along very frequently for individuals like myself. The concept behind the sculpture is “hats off to you”. My decision to remove the helmet from the award is my way of thanking The BRITs for providing me with this opportunity. I hope that seeing this award inspires not only the British populace, but individuals across the world, including myself, that these feats are achievable.”
The bronze award, which features three heads, has personal touches that “commemorate and incorporate” Slawn’s roots.
He added: “I’ve created something that I am extremely proud of that I feel represents my past, present and future. The placement of the arms and the decision to have three heads meant that I could create an award that shows a different perspective at every angle. Growing up in Lagos I was surrounded by bronze sculptures, so they have a very nostalgic feel to me. I also wanted to commemorate and incorporate my roots into the design. I hope that in creating this award this is just the start of my journey in providing more opportunity for young people to realise that these achievements are possible with the right support.”
Chair of the 2023 BRIT Awards, Damian Christian commented: “Slawn’s work is incredible and powerful, and we’ve been blown away by what he has created – his design is bold, exciting and in the moment, and represents what we’re trying to achieve with this year’s ceremony. We were very honoured that he accepted our invitation to put his own spin on the iconic statue and continue the BRITs’ rich heritage of design innovation. The BRIT Awards 2023 with Mastercard will take place on Saturday, 11 February – the first time the show will be held on a Saturday in its history – and will broadcast live on ITV and ITVX – from The O2 arena.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bonnie Raitt has been announced for Black Deer Festival, for what will be her only UK festival appearance of 2023.
The Americana icon can’t wait to experience the music event, which returns to Eridge Park, Kent, South East England, between June 16 and 18.
The 73-year-old singer said: “I’m really looking forward to coming to Black Deer Festival. I hear it’s a real home away from home for American musicians. See you next summer!”
It will also be a UK festival exclusive for Grammy-nominated musician and activist Allison Russell.
Lucinda Williams, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats, The Teskey Brothers and Calexico have also been confirmed.
Founders of the Black Deer Festival, Gill Tee and Debs Shilling, commented: “We are thrilled to reveal the first names for Black Deer Festival 2023. OHMYGOSSIP — Gwen Stefani has been announced as Pink’s support act at American Express presents BST Hyde Park 2023.
The ‘Hollaback Girl’ hitmaker is set to give the audience a taste of her Las Vegas residency, ‘Gwen Stefani – Just A Girl’, when she takes to the stage ahead of her pop peer on June 24 and June 25.
She said: “I don’t think I would ever be me without the incredible musical influences of the UK. I am so excited to be back! This is going to be an amazing show.”
Pink said: “It’s been a long three years and I’ve missed live music so so much…. So it’s finally time! I am so excited to get back to the UK and Europe to sing, cry, sweat and make new memories with my friends. It’s going to be magical!”
More special guests will be confirmed in due course.
BST will also play host to a one-off reunion gig for Take That next summer.
The trio – comprising Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen – will headline the concert series on July 1.

OHMYGOSSIP — Machine Gun Kelly has released the title track, ‘Taurus’, from his semi-autobiographical flick.
The Grammy-nominated rocker – whose real name is Colson Baker – is joined by Naomi Wild (Lena in the movie) on the brooding duet.
MGK, 32, plays troubled rock star Cole in the film about “the darkness of fame, addiction, the artistic process and the music industry.”
His fiancée, ‘Transformers’ star Megan Fox, 36, portrays Mae in the Tim Sutton-helmed feature.
Cole’s battle with substance abuse isn’t a character it’s actually what was going on with MGK.
He said in a recent interview: “I was always asking God why I kept missing the bullet that is death.
“With all of the drugs that I would do, with all of the strangers who have nothing but their own selfish interests in mind when, you know, giving me things or encouraging a downfall mixed in with my own self-inflicted will to sabotage myself. So that was not necessarily — it wasn’t even a character [in ‘Taurus’]. That was just me getting a chance to actually be me.”
The ‘More Than Life’ star added: “That [destructive] side of me is where I always felt more comfortable.
“I’d much rather watch someone [for whom that self-destruction] is second nature than to watch some actor pretend. There’s nothing more annoying than watching a thespian fake being a rock star. It’s the worst.”
MGK also explained how hiding behind his character’s scraggly hair helped him show even more of himself.
He explained: “When I finally got to hide behind [the hair], a lot more of my real self was able to show ‘cause I didn’t have to make eye contact with anybody.
“I just got to be insular and showcase what was really going on inside instead of succumbing to the pressure of what an entertainer is supposed to be.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger is “ready for the world to hate us again”.
The ‘How You Remind Me’ singer has joked about the way his band – who released new album ‘Get Rollin’ last week – have been mocked by some music lovers over the years, and he admitted it’s something the bands laughs about “all the time”.
He told Audacy: “You know, we joke about it all the time. I’m like, ‘I’m ready for the world to hate us again.’
“Ryan says that all the time: ‘I think there’s been a softening.’ ”
The band are glad people have been enjoying the new album – their 10th to date – even if guitarist Ryan Peake has noticed so many people thinking the heavier tracks make it “a bit out of character when it’s really not”.
Chad added: “It’s a Nickelback record, it’s just like all the other Nickelback records. It ebbs and flows, and there are peaks and valleys.
“It’s everything; like they always are. You’re gonna get your ‘Photograph,’ you’re gonna get your ‘Far Away,’ but you’re also gonna get your ‘Side of a Bullet.’ ”
When it comes to misconceptions, Chad also had to set the record straight recently as he revealed people have been mispronouncing his surname for years.
He explained: “It’s [Kroo-ger], don’t trust the internet.
“If I just stop and go, ‘Actually, it’s Kroo-ger,’ I’m gonna look like such a d***. So I’m just like whatever, I don’t care.”
However, Alice In Chains‘ Jerry Cantrell once corrected an interviewer’s pronunciation of Chad’s name.
He recalled: “I sort of looked over at Jerry, and he goes, ‘It’s your name, dude. That is your last name. Tell that dude across there how to say it properly so that he stops saying it wrong into that microphone and misinforming people. That is your last name, brother.’
“And I was like, ‘Wow you really care about this s***!’”

OHMYGOSSIP — Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine keeps asking Slayer to “come out of retirement” for a one-off “Big Four” show.
The 61-year-old musician has been trying to tempt the ‘Raining Blood’ band – whose their farewell tour ended in 2019 – to reunite for a special gig at the Los Angeles Coliseum, featuring thrash metal’s Big Four, Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica and Anthrax.
He said: “I really think it’s time for the guys in Metallica to step up, and us do one last round, see if we can get Slayer to come out of retirement and do a “Big Four passing of the torch” to the new Big Four.
“It would remain to be seen who they are, but I have a feeling it would include some of the players we already mentioned.
“I think it would be really cool symbolically if we did something at like, the LA Coliseum, even if it’s one show and that’s it.
“Slayer is from Los Angeles, so it would probably make it more convenient for them to go home at night.”
But Dave admits the band are “just not into it”.
He added to website Songfacts: “I personally have been hoping for this for a while, and I keep asking and asking and asking. They’re just not into it. But that’s up to them.”
The Big Four played a number of gigs together across Europe and North America in the early 2010s.
Slayer shot to fame with their 1986 album ‘Reign in Blood’, but announced in 2018 that their 2019 tour would be their last.

The 35-year-old pop star – who shot to fame in her midteens when her second album ‘Mind, Body and Soul’ made her youngest female ever to top the UK Albums Chart – launched a comeback earlier this year with album ‘Never Forget My Love’ and is hoping her festive record ‘Merry Christmas, Love’ will take the top spot over the Yule period.
Asked how she felt about the possibility of taking the number one spot at Christmas, she said: “Wouldn’t that be nice? If I had one Christmas wish!”
Meanwhile, the ‘Right to Be Wrong’ hitmaker – who penned original song ‘Bring on Christmas Day’ for the album but also covers classics tracks such as ‘Let It Snow’ and ‘Silent Night’ – became a mum for the first time in January 2021 to Violet with boyfriend Cody DaLuz and gave birth to their second child just a month ago explained that while she was “elated” to be a parent at first, she soon became fearful that something bad would happen.
She told Metro newspaper’s Guilty Pleasures column: “I was elated, super-happy. So happy I was annoying, which is a common thread for me. ‘I thought, “I can’t live like this, this is horrible. I said to my mum, “I keep having these horrific thoughts”. And she goes, ‘It will go away. It’s just a mad time – you’ve got the hormones and you’re in love, and concerned”. Apparently, it happens to a lot of women.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Pavement are to launch a stage musical based on their songs.
The indie rock band – which consists of Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich, Scott Kannberg, Steve West, Mark Ibold, and previously Gary Young – released five albums during their initial run from 1989 until 1999, becoming known for tracks such as ‘Range Life’ and ‘Shady Lane’ and enjoyed a reunion this year but are now set to put their songs into a stage musical titled ‘ ‘Slanted! Enchanted!,’ named after their first studio album.
Alongside a poster for the upcoming production, the ‘We Dance’ hitmakers tweeted: “The majesty and mystery of Pavement, one of rock music’s most unique treasures, brought to life on the theatre stage for an abbreviated, unforgettable stand.”
Two workshop performances have been scheduled to take place at the Off-Broadway Sheen Center in New York on December 1 and 2.
No plot details have been made public yet but Alex Ross Perry – who has also written the book to the musical – is listed as director, just months after he was at the helm of a remake of Pavement’s 1999 hit ‘Harness Your Hopes.’
Michael Esper – who starred in the Green Day jukebox musical ‘American Idiot’ on Broadway – will star alongside Zoe Lister-Jones, who is known for having played Fawn Moscato on the sitcom ‘New Girl’ alongside Zooey Deschanel.
Earlier this year, Stephen – who hit the road with his bandmates in September for the first time in over a decade – insisted that their old songs are good enough to “exist in the present” and ruled out the idea of recording any new music.
He said: “No way. These [old] songs are good, they exist in this present. That’s just me, anyone can do what they want. It’s your life, choose your adventure. If any band wants to make a new album, they like to do that, that’s totally rad. But, yeah, not happening.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sabrina Carpenter worried one of her favourite songs wouldn’t make it onto her album.
The 23-year-old pop star released her fifth studio album ‘Emails I Can’t Send’ earlier this year and explained that while the track she loves most tends to change day by day, she was concerned that the one she found the most fun to write wouldn’t make the final cut because it is too “silly.”
She said: “My favorite song on the album changes every single day, I’d say today it’s probably a song called ‘Tornado Warnings.’ But the most fun to write was my now single ‘Nonsense,’ which I just put out a video for. It’s just the silliest song, and when we were writing it, I was like, ‘It’s never gonna be put out.’”
The ‘Fast Times’ hitmaker initially believed that the track “didn’t make sense” with the rest of the record before realising that “dual feelings” came into play.
She told Billboard: “At first I was like, ‘It doesn’t make sense with the album,’ and then I kind of realized that there’s a lot of dual feelings to heartbreak and grieving and moving on, and it can happy and sad and confident and insecure. So yeah, that’s one of my favorites too.”
Earlier this year, Sabrina explained that some dream collaborations would be the likes of ‘Head on Fire’ singer Griff and ‘Woman’ rapper Doja Cat. She said: “As far as collaborations go, oh my goodness, I have so many favourites. I love Yebba, Yebba’s amazing, I’m a big fan of her. I’m a big fan of Griff, I love her. Who else? Doja Cat. There’s so many incredible artists. As long as I don’t ruin a song of theirs, then I would love to collaborate.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Annie Lennox has launched a fundraiser to ‘”fight against gender-based violence.”
The 67-year-old singer is the founder of the non-governmental organisation The Circle and will be fronting the Music Icons Auction with the likes of Alicia Keys, Angelique Kidjo and Billie Eilish as part of the Global 16 Days of Activism in an effort to support the charity’s work to “economically empower and end violence against women and girls.”
In a statement, she said: “I have long believed that music can build bridges and bring people together and it is wonderful to see these phenomenal female artists stand side by side with women and girls around the world facing and fighting gender-based violence. Join The Circle and global feminists everywhere as we continue to push forward, protest, and take action to end violence against our sisters. Please get involved, bid and help us to support women and girls around the world.”
Items up for sale include signed and handwritten lyrics from the pop icons involved and will be available to the highest bidder as well as through sweepstake draws , which cost $10 to enter.
Angelique Kidjo said: “I wanted to donate my lyrics to support the work of The Circle, because when we use our words, when we raise our voices, when we sing our songs of defiance and empowerment, we are refusing to be silent, and we are making change possible.”
The proceeds from the auction will help to support The Circle’s work around the world, from providing urgently needed help to women and girls who have suffered abuse and violence – such as counselling, access to safe accommodation, legal advice, education and coaching – to supporting the long-term changes needed to enable women and girls to break free and move on from violence and fear.

The rock band – who formed in 1976 and currently consists of vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Captain Sensible, bassist Paul Gray, keyboardist Monty Oxymoron and new drummer Will Glanville Taylor in place of original member Pinch – are to hit the stage again in support of a forthcoming album with special guests The Nightingales following the success of their original line up tour earlier this year and the release of film/album ‘A Night Of A Thousand Vampires.’
In a tweet, the band said: “We are touring the UK next spring with special guests The Nightingales. Tickets go on sale this Thursday 10am!”
The ‘Smash it Up’ rockers will open their tour in March at the Great Hall in Cardiff and run for a total of 15 shows across the country, coming to an end at the Alexandra Palace Theatre in London.
