OHMYGOSSIP — ABBA’s Voyage hologram show has intrigued their peers, including Cher and Bee Gee Barry Gibb.
Björn Ulvaeus has revealed some big names have been down to see the Swedish pop legends’ avatar concert at the purpose-built ABBA Voyage arena in Stratford, east London.
Björn and his bandmates, Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, younger selves were turned into Abba-tars (holograms) for the experience and some of their contemporaries are now said to be considering having their own hologram show.
Bjorn told the festive edition of Radio Times magazine: “I know Barry Gibb has been to see it. I hear rumours about Metallica.
“I don’t think Mick Jagger has been yet, but he has said something about it.
“Cher was going. So many of my contemporaries are now thinking, ‘Is there a way we can do it?'”
The 90-minute show features pre-recorded classics mixed with the band’s new numbers such as ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’.
ABBA played their last concert just over 41 years ago.
The avatar shows could go on even after the group have left this world.
Sir Mick Jagger recently said avatar shows like ABBA’s offer up endless opportunities for veteran acts.
The Rolling Stones frontman hasn’t considered whether the ‘Start Me Up’ rockers – who have been touring for 60 years – could have their own digital hologram concert in the future, but he is intrigued by the “technology breakthrough”.
The 79-year-old music legend said: “That would be stupid to me to give you a one-line answer, because I haven’t really honestly thought about it.
“The ABBA thing gives you this kind of technology breakthrough, which, I haven’t actually seen it yet.
“I was supposed to go and see it, but there was a train strike. So I didn’t get to go. I wasn’t going on the train, but … the traffic was horrible, so I can’t really answer that.
“Obviously technology is going to give you some of the answers to this, and who knows what technology lies in store down the road?
“We’re already in an AI world of doing this stuff, and you can do a lot of musical stuff with not very complicated computerisation, as well.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Lambert’s injured nose had to be Photoshopped out of his upcoming album’s cover art.
The ‘American Idol’ alum and Queen singer’s nose got sliced by a piece of sugar glass for the striking image of the star walking through a broken window.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “My nose got sliced making my album cover.
“On the first take of the photo, a pane of sugar glass was dropped straight onto my head – and it sliced into my nose.”
He quipped: “I don’t hold my record company responsible for my injuries.
“I was fine, but I did suggest, ‘Hmm, maybe let’s change the angle of how we drop the glass next time.’
“We Photoshopped my injury out on the finished artwork.”
‘High Drama’, released on February 24, boasts Adam’s covers of songs by the likes of Billie Eilish, Sia and Kings of Leon, and the most recent is his spin on Duran Duran’s ‘Ordinary World’.
The 40-year-old star has performed frontman duties for the ‘We Will Rock You’ group since 2012, in the place of late frontman Freddie Mercury, and admitted he copied one of the iconic singer’s boozy vocal techniques for his cover of Lana Del Rey’s ‘West Coast’.
He said: “I’d just finished recording my version of ‘Sex on Fire’ and my voice felt really raw.
“Brian May [Queen’s guitarist] told me how Freddie wasn’t well when he recorded, I think it was ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ [some time in 1986].
“Freddie prepared his voice by having a shot of vodka and recording his vocal in one take.
“I had tequila instead of vodka, then I sang this raw and Led Zeppelin-like version of Lana’s song – in one take too.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Aitch donated £10,000 to a Down’s Syndrome charity.
The Mancunian rapper released the song ‘My G’ about his younger sister Gracie, who was born with the genetic disorder, in August and he used a chunk of the money from the budget for the music video to benefit the Down’s Syndrome Association.
He told Capital: “The song kind of speaks for itself.
“When we got the budget, I just thought there’s no need to spend all that money and thankfully I was lucky enough to meet people from the Down’s Syndrome Association who let us use their building, so we just decided to do it like that.”
Ed Sheeran features on the touching track as the pop megastar is his sibling’s favourite artist.
Aitch previously said: “I sent it to Ed and he loved it. I met Ed after I guested on ‘Take Me Back To London’, a song he remixed. He’s my sister’s favourite and she’s not heard the song yet. It’s going to be emotional.”
‘My G’ is featured on Aitch’s debut studio album ‘Close To Home’, an emotional ode to his hometown and roots.
He said: “This one means a lot.
“The past 4 years have been crazy thank you to everyone that’s been involved I can’t appreciate you enough, whether you been here from the start or not I got nothing but love.
“A lot of different emotions went into this I can’t wait to share it with u lot! Came this far without dropping an album and that’s all because of you, thank you for being patient with me […] let’s see how far this one takes us.”

OHMYGOSSIP — SZA has suggested she’s going to take a lengthy break from music.
The ‘I Hate U’ singer released her long-awaited second album ‘SOS’ to major acclaim last week, five years after her debut studio album ‘Ctrl’.
However, now that she has delivered the record to fans, SZA – whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe – plans to “disappear” for “as long as I can”.
In an interview with Consequence, she said: “I’m gonna disappear, definitely, for as long as I can.
We kinda knocked it out. I need to shoot as many videos as I can, so I can disappear for longer.”
The 33-year-old star has, however, promised a deluxe edition of ‘SOS’, with the likes of Doja Cat, Lizzo and The Weeknd teased to appear.
Meanwhile, SZA also bemoaned the amount of times Black artists have been labelled R’n’B and admitted it is “super disrespectful”.
She told the publication: “I’m so tired of being pegged as [an] R’n’B artist. I feel like that’s super disrespectful, because people are just like, ‘Oh, ’cause you’re Black, this is what you have to be’ – like, put in a box. And I hate that. With songs on this album, it’s supposed to help round out the picture and the story.
“Something that is just full of energy. Black music doesn’t have to just be R’n’B. We started rock ‘n’ roll. Why can’t we just be expansive and not reductive?”

OHMYGOSSIP — George Baggs has released a Christmas single to highlight the sleep struggle singletons face over the festive season.
The ‘Gogglebox’ favourite has worked on a tongue-in-cheek version of classic carol ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’, which describes the familiar situation where single members of the family are often last in line when it comes to bedroom allocation when getting together for big occasions.
George has teamed up with Premier Inn for the track after the UK’s biggest hotel company found one in three people will be asked to give up their bedroom for visiting relatives this Christmas, with singletons more likely to be asked to move.
For those visiting relatives, almost half (48%) have slept somewhere other than a bed, with the sofa, blow-up bed or even the floor most common.
But Premier Inn want to make life easier by giving fans the chance to win their luxury bedding for this year’s festive family sleepover.

OHMYGOSSIP — Maddox Jones “can’t believe” he’s in the running for Christmas number one.
The singer/songwriter teamed up with Gordon Hill – aka The Wealdstone Raider – on a charity World Cup single, ‘We’re All Here Together (Go England)’, and with England doing well in the tournament, the track has stuck a chord with fans and they’re hoping to contend for the prestigious slot at the top of the festive charts as a result.
Maddox said: “I can’t believe any of it! To be in the running with names like The Pogues, Taylor Swift, Kate Bush, Mariah Carey, Ed Sheeran, and Elton John feels like something out of a dream.
“I just feel so proud of how well the team has been playing at this tournament, and I hope that people who listen to my music feel the same way. Go England!”
Maddox previously explained he wanted the song to “celebrate and promote togetherness”.
He said: “Football brings everyone together, especially big tournaments like the World Cup.
“England is a diverse nation and I want this charity single to celebrate and promote togetherness and the diverse culture of England.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith shocked visitors at a former royal residence by shooting a raunchy music video.
The 30-year-old singer – who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns – stunned guests at Ashridge House in Hertfordshire by filming an X-rated video that featured drag queens and scantily-clad men in trunks.
The country house was used by Tudor monarchs Henry VIII and Elizabeth I and is now a tourist attraction.
An onlooker told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “They had hired part of the house completely but the gardens and other areas were still open to the public.
“There were plenty of older folk enjoying a walk in the grounds when a load of geezers in leather turned up in all sorts.
“It probably gave a few of them a heart attack. They were absolutely shocked.
“Some of the staff at the house had to try to usher the dancers through discretely, and move the visitors through another part of the estate to avoid creating a scene. It was very funny.”
Sam recently suggested that it was “still hard to be queer” despite all of the success they have achieved in the music industry and explained how they are still harassed on the street sometimes.
The ‘Unholy’ hitmaker said: “Everything is moving forward in a wonderful way. But there is realities that are quite hard to swallow when it comes to the stats of the countries, where it’s still illegal and it is hard. It’s still hard to be queer. There’s still backlash. I still get things said to me on the street, even now. The weirdest thing is you can be famous, you can be a pop star and you still get it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joss Stone wanted to get Stevie Wonder’s “permission” before she covered ‘What Christmas Means to Me’.
The 35-year-old singer is releasing a cover of the ‘Superstition’ hitmaker’s festive track as the first song from her new seasonal album, ‘Merry Christmas, Love’ and she revealed she called the star to ask his advice about her recording, but he wasn’t available to speak to her.
While Joss has recorded the track anyway, she’s concerned he’ll think her take is “completely wrong”.
She said: “We’ve met a few times and every now and then we’ll talk on the phone.
“He’s the sweetest guy in the world. I wanted to talk to him before I recorded the song to ask his opinion and permission. I left him a voicemail… I hope he likes it.
“I really tried not to make it sound too R+B, which is what I’ve been doing for a long time.
“Maybe Stevie will give me a call and say, ‘Joss, why did you do that? That’s completely wrong!’
“I’ll hopefully see him around when we’re touring.”
Joss wanted the album to be “classy” and “magical” but she had to change her way of working.
She explained to Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “I tried to make it as classy, Christmassy and magical as I could.
“I wanted it to be like the old Frank Sinatra Christmas records or Dean Martin and Bing Crosby… what I like listening to.
“It wasn’t as simple as my more soulful records, which came from jams at night with my mates in Devon.
“Rather than singing harmonies from memory, which I normally do with my backing singers, everything was written down so it worked perfectly. It was a different world.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi will never forget the “haunting fear” of making his comeback on the day Queen Elizabeth died.
The 26-year-old singer dropped his long-awaited new track ‘Forget Me’ on 8 September but despite the circumstances surrounding the release, he decided to “press on” with his promotional campaign, despite the monarch’s death dominating the news.
He told The Big Issue magazine: “That haunting fear of like, oh my f****** god, we’re bringing this song out and they’ve just announced the Queen’s died.
“This is the thing, you’ve got to press on. I’m sure it’s what she would have wanted.”
Lewis admitted he is “terrified” about the reception his second album, ‘Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent’, will receive when it’s released in May because he wants fans to enjoy it, though he insisted he isn’t feeling the pressure for it to be as popular as his debut record, ‘Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent’.
He said: “Oh, I’m terrified. I don’t necessarily feel like I have to match it because – unless you’re f****** Ed Sheeran – that’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing.
“I can’t see having another song that big, because it defies belief. So I try not to think of that.
“But I do feel pressure to at least release music that people who buy tickets to see me would enjoy.
“I like the music I’m making and I don’t think I’ve strayed too far from the path on this new record.
“But it’s definitely nervewracking. The more successful things get, I find I’m more insecure about my own abilities. It’s a very strange position to be in. Yeah, I’m absolutely s******* my jocks.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Ryder has revealed how a surfing accident made him re-evaluate his life.
The ‘Space Man’ singer was the runner-up for the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest this year but explained that he only committed to music after almost being drowning in Hawaii.
Sam told the BBC: “I was surfing in Hawaii and my board snapped. Then I got hit by a wave and I very nearly drowned.
“It pushed me down so far into the water. And the turbulence of the water, the power, is incredible. Fighting against it, you feel like you’ve been hit by a bus.”
The 33-year-old singer revealed that the accident gave him more clarity about his life as he went on to rise to prominence on TikTok during the coronavirus lockdown.
Sam said: “Obviously, the golden rule is surfing is ‘never underestimate the sea’, but until it goes wrong, you can’t fathom it. You’re like, ‘I am insignificant in this body of water.’
“But that day was important to me because I wanted to be very good at surfing and ride the big waves – but (the accident) put me back on my true purpose.
“I was like, ‘You can’t do the thing you love most, which is music and singing, if you’re at the bottom of the sea.'”
Ryder’s debut album ‘There’s Nothing but Space, Man!’ has been released and he said hope is a key theme of the album after his extraordinary year.
He said: “I wanted to focus on the tenets of hope and faith and how to retain those things.
“I’ve been making music since I was 13 years old, and it always foot on the gas, full belief, full faith – even though I was absolutely bombarded with failure.
“You start asking yourself, ‘What’s gonna happen? Maybe I’m finished?’ All these stupid thoughts that I know we all have.
“But now sitting here, looking back, I’m thinking, ‘Wow, you should have been so excited.’ I had no idea what was around the corner. And therein lies the lesson, I suppose. To remain hopeful over a long period of time.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi doesn’t look after his voice.
The ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker found that while touring with Sam Smith, the 30-year-old singer was “very responsible” when it came to protecting their vocals but the only preparation he does before a show is have a massage.
Speaking to Roman Kemp backstage at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard at The O2 in London on Saturday (10.12.22), he said: “I went on tour with Sam, of course. They were really responsible… they have to look after their voice. Sam does like a two-hour show.”
Asked if he looks after his own voice, Lewis said while giving Roman a massage: “Nope. Before every gig, I get a massage like this.”
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Scottish singer is looking forward to being able to “relax” and “get p*****” at Christmas.
He said of his typical Christmas Day: “I relax. We get up early. We eat some breakfast. We do our presents… and then we just have our dinner and get p*****.”
The ‘Forget Me’ singer doesn’t think anything will top his favourite gift from last year.
He said: “Last year I got an air fryer. An incredible gift for anyone by the way. Best thing I’ve ever been given.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Roman and Lewis agreed The Darkness’ ‘Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End)’ is the best festive song, but the Capital Breakfast host was shocked by the singer’s choice of favourite seasonal movie, 1946 classic ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’.
Roman said: “No that’s not. That’s not your favourite film?
“I refuse to believe that an old film like that is your favourite Christmas film.”
Lewis insisted: “My favourite Christmas film. It is.”
And when it comes to a traditional Christmas dinner, the ‘Hold Me While You Wait’ singer also made a surprising choice.
He said: “Oh. Gravy. Yeah. You put gravy on your Christmas dinner.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Cliff Richard wants to record a song with Michael Buble.
The ‘Mistletoe and Wine’ hitmaker was disappointed the Canadian crooner wasn’t free to join him on his ‘Cliff at Christmas’ TV special, which will air later this month, because he’s keen to work on a track with him one day.
He told Best magazine: “I was hoping Michael Buble might have been able to record something with me for my TV show, but he’s a busy man and is away on tour.
“So Michael, if you’re reading this, I hope we can do a song together one day and I can’t wait to tell people, ‘Hey, I recorded a song with Michael Buble.’ “
The 82-year-old singer finds it “really difficult” to choose a favourite Christmas song, but at the moment, it is one of his own because of its traditional Christian message.
He said: “I’m often asked what is my favourite Christmas song… It’s really difficult to answer that one because every Christmas something comes up – there are always fabulous songs in the charts and I’ve been lucky over the years to have recorded some of the songs that have got to number one.
“This new album of mine has a song on it called, ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ and I think it is one of the best Christmas songs I’ve ever had.
“Others have recorded it too in the past, but I love singing it because that’s exactly how I feel about Christmas; did Mary, the mother of Jesus, know she was giving birth to this magnificent child that would become the saviour of the world?
“So I think that’s going to become my favourite song, unless of course someone writes something better, but I don’t think they will.”

The 30-year-old singer – who identifies as non-binary and uses gender neutral pronouns – set out to make a record that “was full of joy” and in their “sexy, raunchy, honest” LP ‘Gloria’, which will be released next month, they think they have achieved that.
Speaking backstage at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard at The O2 in London on Saturday (10.12.22), Roman Kemp asked Sam: “You described the Ball as filthy, tinsel time, so how would you describe the album? What can we expect?”
Sam replied: “Filthy golden goose time. Oh you’ll see on tour… I mean there’s no gooses on tour actually…”
“[Expect] Fun. Absolute fun. It was my task to write an album that was full of joy and I think I did it. And so it’s fun, it’s sexy, raunchy, honest. Yeah, I’m proud of it.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ singer admitted they have got “addicted” to tattoos and now has more than 35 different inkings.
They said: ” I’ve been going onto the torso… It was intense, but it was good. We were listening to loads of pop music and it was fun and we had a good time. I was just eating Cheetos, just getting into the mood.
“It says ‘Romance’ on my belly. And then my anchor on my chest. I’m addicted now. I’m like 35 plus tattoos.”
The ‘Unholy’ singer previously announced a string of guest artists will appear on ‘Gloria’.
Jessie Ware will be included on two of the record’s songs; the duet ‘Perfect’, and ‘Gimme’ along with Koffee, while Ed Sheeran makes a guest appearance on the last track on Sam’s fourth album, a song titled ‘Who We Love’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Young is trying to “clean up” a “big mess” of unfinished records.
The ‘Heart of Gold’ hitmaker has released his 42nd album, ‘World Record’, less than a year after its predecessor ‘Barn’, brought out four historical live albums and finally unveiled ‘Toast’, his 2000 effort with Crazy Horse, and is also releasing an expanded edition of ‘Harvest’ to mark the landmark record’s 50th anniversary and he admitted he’s trying to work on new music while also completing unfinished old work.
He said: “I got a lot of stuff to clean up.
“I’ve got a big mess that I left behind.
“I’ve created a lot of unfinished records, unfinished this and that. I now have the time to deal with it, focus on it.
“But at the same time, anything new takes precedent. Always.
“Once I start thinking about something new, I drop the old stuff right away and do the new thing.”
While Neil knew when he worked on ‘Toast’ that it was a “great” album, it didn’t seem “important” to bring it out at the time.
He told Uncut magazine: “I knew ‘Toast’ was great.
“I knew it would come out someday. I mean – we finished it, y’know.
“We cared enough about it to finish it.
“So that says something right there.
“But it just didn’t seem important for it to come out at that time, or it would have.”
Collaborator Rick Rubin – who produced ‘World Record’ and was present for some of the ‘Toast’ recording sessions – agreed Neil doesn’t work conventionally.
He said: “Time doesn’t move at traditional speed where Neil is involved. Some things seem to come out impossibly quickly. Other times, they live in obscurity for years until the inclination to release something appeals to Neil.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Grennan has hit out at artists who overcharge for concert tickets.
The 27-year-old star will embark on the ‘His What Ifs and Maybes’ tour next year, with tickets priced at £30.50.
And the ‘Not Over Yet’ hitmaker, without naming names, slammed music stars who have upped their ticket prices excessively amid these economically-challenging times.
Speaking at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard at The O2 in London, he told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I brought prices down as much as I could.
“I want people to have fun and leave the worries at home rather than not be able to pay a bill.”
There is generally high demand for tickets since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Things have gotten so bad that Taylor Swift’s fans are suing Ticketmaster for “price fixing” and “fraud”.
Following the ticket-buying debacle for the superstar’s North American ‘Eras’ tour, which saw Ticketmaster cancel the general sale due to high demand and insufficient ticket inventory, a number of fans are now suing the company.
According to TMZ, the company is being sued for “fraud, price fixing and antitrust violations”, as well as “intentional deception”, after scalpers scooped up a large number of tickets.
The lawsuit claims that because Ticketmaster is involved in both the primary ticket sale market as well as the secondary market, they were “eager to allow” scalpers into the presale event.
Meanwhile, Ticketmaster previously issued an apology to Taylor and her fans, following the pre-sale debacle.
The ticket sales and distribution company was slammed after announcing the cancellation of general sale tickets.
Ticketmaster said in a statement: “We strive to make ticket buying as easy as possible for fans, but that hasn’t been the case for many people trying to buy tickets for Taylor Swift ‘The Eras’ Tour. First, we want to issue an apology to Taylor and all of her fans – especially those who had a terrible experience trying to purchase tickets.”
The apology came after Taylor revealed she was “p***** off” with how the sales had been handled.
She wrote in an Instagram message to fans: “I’ve brought so many elements of my career in-house. I’ve done this SPECIFICALLY to improve the quality of my fans’ experience by doing it myself with my team who care as much about my fans as I do. It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.
“There are a multitude of reasons why people had such a hard time trying to get tickets and I’m trying to figure out how this situation can be improved moving forward. I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them, multiple times, if they could handle this kind of demand and we were assured they could. It’s truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really p***** me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa would “love to” collaborate with Stormzy.
The ‘Levitating’ hitmaker was delighted to hear the 29-year-old singer recently named her as the person he’s most keen to work with and she admitted she’d jump at the chance to get into the studio with him.
Dua was played an audio clip of Stormzy saying: “I’ve always wanted to make music with Dua… I genuinely think we’ll make something cold, man.”
She replied: “I love that! I’m such a fan… It’s so weird. I flew in this morning and the whole flight I was listening to Stormzy’s new album and I just think what he’s done is so like daring and different and authentic and he’s just really stuck by what he believes in and wants to do.
“I was thinking that today and I know he’s performing tonight, so this is really cool and I definitely would love to work with him. I am such a fan of his.”
Asked if she has a message back to him, she told Roman Kemp backstage at  Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard at The O2 in London on Sunday (11.12.22): “Let’s do it.”
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old star revealed she’s already started work on her next album and found the writing sessions a welcome break from life on tour.
Discussing her plans for 2023, she said: “Relaxing on the shows, I’m preparing for new shows but hopefully finishing my next album. That’s where I’m at.”
Asked if she’s already started the record, she clarified: “Yes, yes I started it whilst I was on tour.
“I had short periods of time in between legs. It’s not [done] on the tour bus, but I’d have a couple of weeks in different cities where I’d just be able to get in a studio where I could just write. And that actually helped me separate from tour life, because the tour had just become my life.”
