OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi has joked he’s got a “gripe to grind” with Michael Bublé as his new single ‘Pointless’ is being thrashed by festive songs in the charts.
The Scottish superstar admits it was probably the wrong move to release the track amid the battle for this year’s Christmas number one, and he quipped that he needs to have a word with the Canadian star, whose 2012 cover of ‘It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas’ is among those keeping his track co-written with Ed Sheeran from the top spot.
Lewis, 26, is quoted by the Metro newspaper’s Guilty Pleasures column as saying: “No one told me that it was probably a bad idea to release a song at Christmas, a song that has no reference to Christmas.
“We’re really being hammered in the charts by Christmas songs.
Not that it matters, but you know, these record labels want some money.”
Lewis then quipped: ‘So, if anyone sees Michael Bublé, you let him know I’m looking for him. I’ve got a gripe to grind with Mr Bublé!”
Michael’s cover is currently number 10 in the Official UK Top 40, while Lewis’ tune is number 20.
Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ is keeping the Queen of Christmas’s crown firmly on at the top spot.
Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’ is at number three and Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John’s ‘Merry Christmas’ is up 15 places to number three.
And Lewis has even more competition, as LadBaby is teaming up with TV’s Martin Lewis on a remake of Band Aid’s 1984 hit ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ to raise funds to help families amid the cost of living crisis.
Mark and Roxanne Hoyle (Ladbabymum) have announced their fifth consecutive festive charity single in aid of the food bank charity The Trussell Trust and the Band Aid foundation.
Their reworking has been given the seal of approval of writers Bob Geldof and Midge Ure.
The social media stars said: “We never intended to release a fifth Christmas single but as ambassadors of the Trussell Trust we were not prepared to sit back and do nothing in a year when people are struggling more than ever.
“So, a few months ago we approached Bob Geldof and Midge Ure and the Band Aid Trust to ask permission to rework the most iconic Christmas track of all time, Do They Know it’s Christmas. And we were truly honoured when they said yes!”
Money Saving Expert Martin commented: “I thought they’d confused me with someone else.
“The nearest I’ve ever got to thinking about a Christmas number one is going to the loo on Boxing Day after too much orange juice the day before.
“Yet once I knew they were serious, and it was for the Trussell Trust, a hugely important charity I’ve a history with, I decided to give it a go, and do it with gusto.”
They’ve had four Christmas number ones in a row: 2018’s ‘We Built This City… On Sausage Rolls’, 2019’s ‘I Love Sausage Rolls’, 2020’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ and 2021’s ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’ with Sir Elton John and Ed Sheeran.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bad Bunny fans were turned away from his Mexico gig due to an “unprecedented number of fake tickets”.
Even fans with legitimate tickets for Friday’s (09.12.22) sold-out concert were’n’t granted entry due a ticketing error, while there was also overcrowding issues at the 85,000 capacity Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
A translated statement from Ticketmaster read: “The inconveniences at the entrances were a consequence of the high unprecedented number of fake tickets which caused crowding of people more than typical.
“The crowding caused confusion and complicated the entrance to the stadium, which led to people with legitimate tickets, not being allowed entry.”
Ticketmaster has vowed to prevent future fraudulent sales as it works with the consumer protection agency PROFEC.
Meanwhile, Bunny is the most-streamed artist globally for a record breaking third year in a row, with more than 18 billion streams.
The Puerto Rican star’s album ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ topped the albums list.
Taylor Swift is in second place for the global artist list, while she’s the top artist in the UK.
Her new album ‘Midnights’ helped propel her to 805 million streams in the UK alone, with Drake, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Kanye West making up the rest of the UK’s top 5 artists.
Globally, Bunny and Taylor are followed by Drake, The Weekend and BTS, with Ed and Harry just missing out in sixth and seventh place.
Meanwhile, Harry’s mega-hit ‘As It Was’ was named Spotify’s most streamed song of 2022.
The former One Direction star finds himself at the top of the streaming platform’s rankings for listeners around the world, with his smash single hitting close to 1.6 billion global streams.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey has announced her new album, ‘Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’, and released the title track.
The ‘Born to Die’ hitmaker has unveiled the artwork and release date for her ninth studio album.
The single was penned by Lana and Mike Hermosa and co-produced with Jack Antonoff, Drew Erickson and Zach Dawes.
Just recently, Lana teased the album in an interview with ‘HOLA TV’, telling the Spanish channel: “I won’t tell you when it’s coming out, but I can tell you I’m making an announcement about it on the seventh, so what do we have, a week? Seven days? I’m very excited.”
The album is due for release on March 10, 2023.
Getting the record ready for release hasn’t been plain-sailing, as the songs were stolen.
The ‘Video Games’ singer revealed in October that her car was broken into whilst parked on Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles “a few months ago” and the culprit got away with her laptop computer, multiple hard drives and a camcorder.
Among the files that were taken was her forthcoming LP, a 200-page manuscript for a book she is writing for Simonand Schuster and irreplaceable family home movies.
Lana begged her fans not to seek out or listen to any leaked music online, as the tracks will be from the stolen album.
In a since-deleted Instagram Live video, she said: “A few months ago, I parked my car on Melrose Place – actually Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles – and I stepped away for a minute.
“And the one time I left my backpack inside my car, someone broke all the windows and took it.
“I had to remotely wipe the computer that had my 200-page book for Simon and Schuster – which I didn’t have backed up on the cloud.
“And despite that, people are still able to remotely access my phone and leak our songs and personal photos. I loved the book that I lost with all of my heart and put a lot of passion into it.
“Please don’t listen to the music if you hear it, because it’s not coming out yet.
“Obviously I won’t ever leave anything in the car again, even if it’s just for a moment. But we’ve had the same issues at the house, and it is a constant thing. And although I’m so grateful to be able to share all of the good stuff, I just also want to share that it has been a challenge.”
Lana had to re-record her songs and admitted it had been immensely frustrating to have to start over on the record.
The ‘Arcadia’ singer said: “I just want to mention that despite all of this happening, I am confident in the record to come -despite so many safety factors at so many different levels. I really want to persist and make the best record I can.”
Last year, the 37-year-old star released two albums to acclaim, ‘Blue Banisters’ and ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’.

OHMYGOSSIP — The 1975 and Paramore could wind up in the studio together.
Lead vocalists Matty Healy and Hayley Williams, both 33, have been in touch to share their appreciation of each other’s bands, and they are planning to hang out in the future with a collaboration hinted at by both parties.
Hayley recently told KROQ: “There’s been a lot of really cool appreciation from other artists, Matty from the 1975 sent a really sweet message to me and the guys.
“He was really encouraging. He saw me talk about one of their songs and he wrote this very long thing about ‘This Is Why’ and about how he’s come to every Manchester show that we’ve ever played and he just loves the band and hopes that we hang out so if you’re listening let’s set it up.”
And in a new interview with Audacy, Matty reacted to being showed the clip from the KROQ interview: “That’s so cool. We did speak on message because she’s been so nice about the band and I thought that was a bit of an excuse to talk to Hayley from Paramore isn’t it? And then yeah, I think they’ve just finished touring and we’ve said that we’d try and hang out at some point.”
He added: “Paramore even though they’re the same age as us, [when] they came out they were a lot younger than us when they broke so they sit in the part of my heart you know like Dashboard [Confessional] so they’ll always be a very special band to us.”
Meanwhile, Matty recently revealed The 1975 worked on another version of Taylor Swift’s ‘Midnights’, while Lewis Capaldi spilled that he and the ‘I’m In Love With You’ hitmaker wrote a song that was too “weird” for his forthcoming album, ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’.

OHMYGOSSIP — ABBA are said to have chosen London for their ‘ABBA Voyage’ show to show their support for the UK after Brexit.
According to the avatar show’s producer Svana Gisla, the Swedish pop icons wanted to show their loyalty to the country that has brought them much success following its withdrawal from the European Union in 2020.
Gisla told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “There were a lot of companies leaving, there was a lot of uncertainty about the UK at the time and it was ABBA themselves that decided, ‘No, we want to come in. They might be leaving, but we want to come in’, because ABBA has been incredibly much-loved in the UK.”
She added: “They have all lived in London for a period of their lives, they love London very much and it very quickly just became the only option.”
In May, the ‘Dancing Queen’ hitmakers launched the spectacular concert featuring their ‘Abba-tars’ (holograms) at a purpose-built arena in Stratford, east London.
The 90-minute show features pre-recorded classics mixed with the band’s new numbers such as ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’.
ABBA played their last concert just over 41 years ago.
The avatar shows could go on even after the group – comprising Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad – have left this world.
And the ‘Super Trouper’ hitmakers have teased they are planning to use their concert holograms for “exciting new things” in future.
They said: “If you are an ABBA fan, who loyally has stuck with us for many years, our hope is that you will see the Abba-tars as agents in the new story, which may lead to exciting new things in the future.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher says he’s the only frontman, other than the late Freddie Mercury, who could perform a solo gig as big as Knebworth.
The 50-year-old star – who fronted Oasis between 1991 until 2009 – documented his return to Knebworth as a solo star earlier this summer as he performed at the Hertfordshire site 26 years on from the ‘Wonderwall’ band’s iconic shows in 1996.
And speaking in the film ‘Knebworth 22’, the ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker insisted the only other singer who could have pulled it off would have been the Queen frontman.
Liam said: “Mick Jagger wouldn’t be able to do this on his own.
“Bono wouldn’t be able to do this on his own.
“Robert Plant wouldn’t be able to do this on his own.
“Maybe Freddie Mercury might be, but he’s not here, is he?’”
Discussing the project, Liam said: “I’m still in shock that I got to play Knebworth two nights, 26 years after I played it with Oasis. I’m still trying to get my head around it. To have played to multiple generations at the same venue so many years apart was beyond Biblical. I’m so glad that we documented it.
“Knebworth for me was and always will be a celebration of the fans as well as the music. Enjoy the film and let’s do it again in another 26 years. LG x.”
Meanwhile, Liam recently vowed to sing Oasis songs till the day he dies.
The outspoken star branded anyone who takes issue with him singing their tunes at his solo gigs not true fans of the Britpop legends.
He fumed on Twitter: “Anyone who got a problem with me singing oasis tunes ain’t real oasis fans there just massive *****. (sic)”
Liam declared: “Oasis till I die.”
The criticism came after Liam claimed his estranged brother Noel Gallagher “blocked” him from using Oasis songs in ‘Knebworth 22’.
None of the band’s classic tracks feature in the film because of his “angry squirt” of a sibling.
Asked by a fan on Twitter if Oasis songs would feature, Liam replied: “No Oasis songs as the angry squirt has blocked them.
“(Noel) also blocked the Oasis (song) I sang for Taylor Hawkins tribute, he’s a horrible little man.”
Another fan replied to Liam’s tweet, saying: “(Noel) was praising u on (sic) his last interview. This is maddening. The doc will still be excellent tho. (sic)”
In reply, Liam – who has been in a public spat with Noel, 55, since the guitarist quit Oasis at their final gig in Paris – said: “What (Noel) says and does are two different things he’s a sad little dwarf.”
Returning to the subject, later on, the ‘Once’ hitmaker said: “You can stop us using the songs but you can’t erase our memories shame on you Noel Gallagher.”

The megastar – who has 26 million followers on the video-sharing platform – has knocked Megan Thee Stallion off the top spot thanks to the viral dance routine to ‘About Damn Time’.
She beat Bad Bunny, Doja Cat and Charlie Puth to number 1 in the US.
Reacting on Twitter, the ‘Juice’ hitmaker wrote: “Viral sensation.”
Vanessa Pappas, TikTok’s chief operating office, said: “We’re honoured to celebrate our global community who shaped this year’s trends, shared new ideas, learned from one another, and turned their passions into careers and livelihoods throughout 2022.”
‘About Damn Time’ came in at number 4 on TikTok’s Top Trending Songs for 2022, while the dance challenge itself made it to number 7 on the Top Trending Videos domestically. Lizzo is the 5th Most Viewed Artist of the Year.
Meanwhile, Lizzo is bringing ‘The Special Tour’ to the UK in 2023.
The 34-year-old superstar recently announced a string of dates in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow next March, for which she will be supported by British singer-songwriter Joy Crookes.
The Grammy winner will kick off the European leg in Oslo, Norway on February 17, and wrap it up at London’s The O2 arena on March 15.
Lizzo will then head to North America for an extensive jaunt, beginning at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden on October 3, and concluding with two consecutive nights at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on November 18 and 19.

OHMYGOSSIP — St. Vincent is launching a new podcast on the history of rock music.
The 40-year-old musician – whose real name is Annie Clark – delves into the Sex Pistols’ riotous US tour that led to the demise of the punk rock legends, and Jimi Hendrix and Patti Smith’s first encounter for ‘History Listen Rock’.
Annie said: “It’s been so fun going back through rock history and revisiting some of my favourite artists and songs, including a bunch that don’t get the recognition they should.
“When you put it all together, you can see how history repeats and echoes through generations, how music links the past to the present, artist-to-artist. And some of these stories are absolutely wild.”
The podcast premieres on Audible on January 12, 2023, and is produced by Audible Inc. and Double Elvis.
Co-Founder of Double Elvis Brady Sadler said: “At Double Elvis, we tell stories about music to entertain and provoke audiences to think differently.

OHMYGOSSIP — LeAnn Rimes has been forced to postpone shows after suffering a bleed on her vocal cord.
The ‘Can’t Fight the Moonlight’ hitmaker has been struck down with flu and “violent” coughing caused the injury to her vocal cord.
LeAnn is heartbroken to have to reschedule Friday’s (09.12.22) concert at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort in Iowa and The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday (10.12.22).
The shows will now take place on September 29, 2023, and April 8, 2023, respectively.
In a handwritten note, LeAnn said: “It completely and utterly breaks my heart to have to announce that I will be rescheduling this weekend’s shows.
“While sick with the flu, my doctor discovered a bleed on my vocal cord, caused by the violent cough that came along with being sick. I am getting better, but I am unable to talk or sing… doctor’s orders!”
She added: “I am devastated to have to do this as there was nothing more that I was looking forward to than celebrating the holidays with you. Please check your emails for rescheduled information and I will see you very soon.”
The gigs are part of the ‘Joy: The Holiday Show’ jaunt, which is now scheduled to kick off again on December 16.
Meanwhile, LeAnn previously opened up about the “pretty heavy depression” she suffered amid the coronavirus pandemic, and how her feelings were “intense” when she returned to live performing for the first time.
Speaking on the ‘Verywell Mind’ podcast, she said: “I don’t think I’ve ever been off the road for 16 months like this at one point for a solid period of time. I went back out to do my first show recently in front of thousands of people. I was so triggered.
“I’m like, oh my God, the experience that I’m having right now is so intense. And it was also like, nothing happened. I walked out, it’s like riding a bike, it didn’t feel like there were 16 months in between.
“I recognised when I went out, how unhealthy some of this [was]. I’m like, this is not the normal experience that I’m supposed to be having. And I’ve been having this heightened, energetic experience for my whole life.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gorillaz have released a new single called Skinny Ape and two virtual shows to be held in New York and London.
Damon Albarn’s group have shared their new track ‘Skinny Ape’ – the fourth to be taken from their upcoming eighth studio album ‘Cracker Island’ which is due for release in February 2023 – and confirmed plans to stage two free concerts in December on both sides of the Atlantic.
The shows are virtual and will be take place in New York City’s Times Square on December 17 while the London leg will take place in Piccadilly Circus on December 18 at 2pm GMT.
A statement – from the band’s animated bassist Murdoc – explained: “To all our followers, get ready for the biggest Times Square takeover since that other gorilla smashed the place up. Bigger in fact cos there’s four of us. Thanks to the techies at Google, we’ve created the music video event of the century, so don your pink robes and come see Gorillaz like you’ve never seen us before. The future is nigh!”
The performances have been described as a “first-of-their-kind immersive experience” and are said to “revolutionise the very concept of musical performance” by featuring special AR technology. They were directed by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett along with French director Fx Goby while the visuals were created by Nexus Studio using Google’s ARCore Geospatial programming interface.
The new album ‘Cracker Island’ is set for release on February 24 2023. ‘Skinny Ape’ was proceeded by three previous singles – ‘Baby Queen’, ‘New Gold’ and ‘Cracker Island’.

OHMYGOSSIP — SZA has released her long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s ‘CTRL’.
The R’n’B songstress’ new album features Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, and an Ol’ Dirty Bastard sample from a documentary.
Phoebe’s ethereal vocals makes an appearance on ‘Ghost in the Machine’ and Travis – who previously appeared on ‘Love Galore’ with SZA – appears on the soulful ballad ‘Open Arms’ with a laidback auto-tuned verse.
The late Wu-Tang Clan member – whose real name was Russell Tyrone Jones – is featured on the closing track ‘Forgiveness’.
And Don Toliver features on breakup song ‘Used’.
Speaking of the record, she said: “It’s about heartbreak, it’s about being lost, it’s about being p*****.”
SZA recently explained that the reason for the long gap between her first and second record is nothing to do with “album pressure”, but finding it hard to fit in time for the LP while dealing with life.
SZA’s grandmother’s battle with Alzheimer’s and the COVID-19 pandemic made it even harder.
Speaking to Billboard magazine, the star – whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe – said: “It’s not like the album pressure, it’s just, life is f****** hard.
“To be expected to do anything at a high level while life is life-ing is f****** crazy. This isn’t meant for a person, it’s meant for a machine.”
The 33-year-old star revealed this week that there were many more artists set to be featured on the album, but they didn’t get their verses in on time.
It’s already known that Doja Cat was due to appear on ‘Shirt’, but she had to undergo vocal cord surgery.
SZA said she’d like to try and get the ‘Say So’ star on the deluxe edition.
Speaking on HOT 97’s ‘Nessa On Air’, she said: “For a lot of these people, I didn’t turn in my verse, so I can’t be too mad. But also, in the same token, it’s like, ‘Damn this sucks, I really needed you. I wish you showed up for me.’ But I’m sure they felt the same way for me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Iggy Pop has dubbed Maneskin a “really strong band”.
The punk icon featured on a new version of the band’s hit ‘I Wanna Be Your Slave’ last year, and he’s paid each band member a massive compliment, notably comparing guitarist Thomas Raggi to Aerosmith legend Joe Perry.
Speaking to NME for this week’s Big Read feature, he said of the ‘SUPERMODEL’ rockers: “That’s a really strong band. [Damiano David] is an amazing singer and the bass player, [Victoria de Angelis] really handles that position well and doesn’t overplay, but on stage and in their videos, she really stays with the message, woo, she’s a firecracker. The Guitarist [Thomas Raggi] is smooth and powerful, somewhere north of Joe Perry. The drummer, [Ethan Torchio] is really clever, he plays rock but I get the feeling he understands there’s a wider group of people who’ve heard dance music, techno and synthetic music so he also plays some very simple four, four beats.”
He added: “I read an interview with them that said they started out busking on the street in Rome and had to fight other groups for good positions. You can tell they have that background, that they’ve done something together where they got a little taste of poverty and obscurity, and I think that gives them a really nice edge.”
The ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ hitmaker, 75, was blown away by Damiano, 23, delivering his vocals with just one take.
He said of their time in the recording booth: “I had a hell of a time doing that vocal, and they were very, very kind about, they were listening to each take and, you know, I got a little applause when I did something well it was just impossible. I finally asked [David], I said, ‘Did you sing all in one take?’ ‘Yeah, man, I sang it all at one take’. I was like, ‘That’s amazing’. I just couldn’t breathe that much, you know? He’s, he’s really got it, that guy.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish, Lewis Capaldi, Sam Fender, The Killers, Foals and Imagine Dragons are set to headline Reading and Leeds 2023.
The iconic festival returns to Reading’s Richfield Avenue and Leeds’ Bramham Park between August 25 and 27 with its biggest lineup to date.
The six major headliners will be joined by an eclectic mix of artists in rock, indie, alternative, hip-hop and dance.
Becky Hill, Bicep Live, Wet Leg, Central Cee, Declan McKenna, Don Broco, Steve Lacy, MK, Inhaler, Slowthai, Tion Wayne and Trippie Redd were also confirmed in the first line-up announcement.
Along with the likes of Slowthai, Eliza Rose, Baby Queen, You Me At Six and The Snuts.
More names will be added to the bill in due course.
Headliner Sam said: “I first went to Leeds Festival with Dean when we were teenagers. We had a wild time, a rite of passage. Ten years later and we’re headlining. I’m so excited, it’s going to be f****** intergalactic! See you down the front.”
Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis said: “We’re so hyped to be back at Reading and Leeds. We’ll never forget the rush of headlining Leeds in the absolute pouring rain in 2016, a show that was one of our most intense ever, or back in 2008 at Reading feeling possessed, climbing the rigging and launching myself headfirst into the crowd.
“We’ve always had an amazing and feral time playing here, one of the greatest festivals in the world. It’s so special to be given a headline slot and we’re gonna rock it. Oh, and we might throw in a surprise or two.

Ronnie Vannucci of The Killers commented: “We have been hearing about Reading and Leeds since ever we can remember. Each time we return is a bigger mountain to climb. 2023 serves as no exception. See you at the top.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton has messaged Sir Elton John asking him to duet with her on ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me’.
After being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the ‘Jolene’ hitmaker is set to release a rock album, and she is hoping the music legend will play piano and duet with her on her version of his 1974 hit.
She said: “I just recorded for my rock album and I did [Elton’s] song, ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me’. And I’ve sent out a message asking if he would sing with me on it and possibly play the piano. So if y’all get to see him, say Dolly wants you to sing on her record! So anyway, but I love him, just tell him to enjoy it because it was great fun for me.”
The late George Michael featured on a live cut of the rock’n’roll classic.
The upcoming album, which is poised for release in the latter end 2023, will feature a mix of classic rock covers and some new tunes in that vein.
Dolly teased: “I’m working on that album and that will be coming out sometime next fall hopefully, in time for the Christmas season next year. And so I’m going to do a lot of classic songs that are rock songs and then a few that I’ve written.”
Elsewhere, the ‘9 to 5’ hitmaker also had some advice for the ‘Tiny Dancer’ ahead of his headline set at Glastonbury next summer.
She said: “Tell him to enjoy it, because it was great fun for me.”
Dolly admitted she had no idea if she was “festival material” before she headlined Glastonbury.
The country pop legend confessed she was feeling “scared” about stepping on the Pyramid Stage for the first time when she played the Sunday afternoon legends slot at the world-famous music extravaganza in 2014.
She told BBC Radio 2’s ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’: “I was a little scared at the start, I didn’t know if I was festival material because I don’t usually play those kind of big shows like that because I talk a lot and I do a lot of story-type songs and I thought, ‘Nah I don’t know about this.’ But they were the most wonderful audience, as good as I’ve ever had in my life.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Roger Waters has released ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ EP.
The Pink Floyd legend – who co-founded the legendary prog rock group and was co-lead vocalist from 1968 until 1983 – released a more sombre version of the band’s 1979 classic ‘Comfortably Numb’ last month, and he’s followed that up with a collection of their classics and his solo recordings, recorded at home amid the COVID-19 shut down of 2020 through to 2022.
‘Comfortably Number 22′ was recorded during Waters’ US leg of his ‘This Is Not A Drill Tour’ earlier this year.
The EP also includes a recording of Floyd’s ‘Mother’ and ‘Vera’ from ‘The Wall’, ‘Two Suns In The Sunset’ and ‘The Gunner’s Dream’ from ‘The Final Cut’, plus ‘The Bravery of Being Out Of Range’ from his much-lauded 1992 solo LP ‘Amused To Death’.
In a statement, the 79-year-old musician said of the origin of the project: “Our Us and Them Tour lasted three years…At every gig we did an encore after the main show closed with Comfortably Numb…the encore was always Mother…I can’t remember why I decided to start doing other songs?…Anyway, at some point after the end of the tour…I started thinking, ‘It could make an interesting album, all those encores’…”The Encores”. ‘Yeah, has a nice ring to it!’ Then…I’m in England doing the Ginger Baker tribute gig one Tuesday night at the Hammersmith Odeon with Eric Clapton and…the following Saturday marching from The Australian Embassy to Parliament Square to make a speech in support of Julian Assange, when bugger me, Covid…Schlummmm! OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo is reportedly set to feature on the deluxe edition of SZA’s ‘SOS’.
The ‘About Damn Time’ hitmaker co-wrote the track ‘F2F’ – which sees the R’n’B singer head in a pop punk direction – on the widely-acclaimed LP, out now, and according to Pop Crave, the pair have recorded a track called ‘Boy From South Detroit’ for the expanded LP.
Last month, Lizzo teased a clip of a track with SZA.
She captioned the tweet: “Something Special coming your way soon.”
The ‘Juice’ hitmaker appeared to be suggesting it’s a remix of her song ‘Special’.
This week, SZA also teased that she’d like to get Doja Cat and The Weeknd on the deluxe collection.
The 33-year-old star revealed this week that there were many more artists set to be featured on the album, but they didn’t get their verses in on time.
It’s already known that Doja Cat was due to appear on ‘Shirt’, but she had to undergo vocal cord surgery.
Speaking on HOT 97’s ‘Nessa On Air’, she said: “For a lot of these people, I didn’t turn in my verse, so I can’t be too mad. But also, in the same token, it’s like, ‘Damn this sucks, I really needed you. I wish you showed up for me.’ But I’m sure they felt the same way for me.”
‘SOS’ features Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, Don Toliver and a Ol’ Dirty Bastard sample.
Fans have waited five years for the follow-up to her much-lauded 2017 debut studio album ‘CTRL’.
SZA recently explained that the reason for the long gap between her first and second record is nothing to do with “album pressure”, but finding it hard to fit in time for the LP while dealing with life.
SZA’s grandmother’s battle with Alzheimer’s and the COVID-19 pandemic made it even harder.
Speaking to Billboard magazine, the star – whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe – said: “It’s not like the album pressure, it’s just, life is f****** hard.
“To be expected to do anything at a high level while life is life-ing is f****** crazy. This isn’t meant for a person, it’s meant for a machine.”
