OHMYGOSSIP — Bono has claimed U2 split up “all the time”.
The 62-year-old singer admitted being in a band is “tricky” and sometimes rows between the members of the group, which also includes The Edge, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen Jr., can be so explosive, they decide to go their separate ways, but ultimately they always settle their differences and “get back together”.
Speaking on the ‘SmartLess’ podcast, Bono said: “I’m amazed we’re still going.
“Being in a band is tricky.
“The older you get, it gets even trickier.
“Because when you grow up together, you’re used to taking bits out of each other.
“You’re as good as the arguments you get, but at a certain point, when people are doing well, the male loves to be the lord of his own domain, you know? It’s rough.
“And you can just imagine why people say, ‘Ah, f*** this, I’m outta here.’
“I mean, I really genuinely expect that and the band breaks up all the time. It’s the truth.
“Then we get back together and I’m grateful we do.”
Despite their tensions, the ‘One’ rockers – who formed in 1976 – recently announced they will release ‘Songs of Surrender’, a 40-track album of re-imagined and re-recorded songs on 17 March.
They wrote on their official Twitter account: “Songs Of Surrender. 40 Songs. Reimagined and rerecorded. March 17, 2023. #U2SOS40”
It comes after U2’s guitarist The Edge teased a new project in letters to fans, admitting the band are heading in a “new direction”.
He wrote in part: “The fact is that most of our work was written and recorded when we were a bunch of very young men. Those songs mean something quite different to us now. Some have grown with us. Some we have outgrown. But we have not lost sight of what propelled us to write those songs in the first place. The essence of those songs is still in us, but how to reconnect with that essence when we have moved on, and grown so much?
“Music allows you to time travel and so we started to imagine what it would be like to bring these songs back with us to the present day and give them the benefit or otherwise, of a 21st century re-imagining. What started as an experiment quickly became a personal obsession as so many early U2 songs yielded to a new interpretation.
“Intimacy replaced post-punk urgency. New keys. New chords. New tempos and new lyrics arrived. It turns out that great song is kind of indestructible. Once we surrendered our reverence for the original version each song started to open up to a new authentic voice of this time, of the people we are, and particularly the singer Bono has become.
“I hope you like our new direction.”
The track list is yet to be confirmed, but some fans have speculated that it could be the same as the songs in Bono’s memoir, which told the stories of 40 songs from U2’s back catalogue.

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyonce performed a duet with her daughter Blue Ivy at a show in Dubai on Saturday (21.01.23).
The 41-year-old pop star returned to the stage for her first concert in almost five years by performing a gig at the opening of new hotel Atlantis The Royal in the UAE city over the weekend (21.01.23-22.01.23) – and she decided to share the spotlight with Blue by bringing her on to sing the track ‘Brown Skin Girl’.
Beyonce told the audience at the private gig: “Where are all my brown skin girls? Give it up for my baby, my brown skin girl, Miss Blue Ivy Carter.”
The youngster wore a sparkly red suit with trainers and her mum affectionately touched her face as they sang together, with the singer telling the crowd: “Love to all the brown skin girls. If you love brown skin women, help me sing.”
Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z and their three children as well as her parents Tina Knowles-Lawson and Mathew Knowles were all in the audience for the invite-only event.,
During the show, she told the crowd: “Welcome, everybody. I feel so honoured to be here … My beautiful children are here to see their mom perform.”
Beyonce didn’t include any of her new music in the set list, but she did perform hits including ‘Beautiful Liar’, ‘Halo’, ‘Crazy In Love’ and ‘Drunk In Love’.
Famous faces in the crowd included Kendall Jenner, Rebel Wilson, Ellen Pompeo, Liam Payne and Bar Refaeli, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

OHMYGOSSIP — Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman is taking a temporary break from the band for his mental health.
Just as the pop punk legends announced their comeback album ‘So Much (For) Stardust’, the musician has shared that he will be “stepping away” from FOB “for a spell” for his well-being.
In a statement on the band’s Instagram page, Joe said: “Neil Young once howled that it’s better to burn out than to fade away. But I can tell you unequivocally that burning out is dreadful. Without divulging all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has rapidly deteriorated over the past several years. So, to avoid fading away and never returning, I will be taking a break from work which regrettably includes stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a spell.”
The 38-year-old rocker has vowed to return to the band in the future but insisted it was “necessary” to put his “mental health first”.
He added: “It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride (the sin I’m most proud of). So, the question remains: Will I return to the fold? Absolutely, one-hundred percent. In the meantime, I must recover which means putting myself and my mental health first. Thank you to everyone, including my bandmates and family, for understanding and respecting this difficult, but necessary, decision.”
Fall Out Boy’s first album since 2018’s ‘Mania’ is released on March 24.
The ‘Centuries’ rockers – also comprising Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz and Andy Hurley – released the lead single ‘Love From The Other Side’ this week, and they performed it without Joe on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ on Wednesday (18.01.23), sans Joe.

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has said he won’t be returning to the studio anytime soon.
The 50-year-old rock star – who this week sparked hope of an Oasis reunion when he claimed his estranged brother Noel Gallagher had been on the phone “begging forgiveness” amid his divorce from Sara MacDonald – has been responding to his fans’ questions on Twitter and was asked whether he’ll be working on new solo music soon.
However, Liam – whose last solo album was 2022’s ‘C’mon You Know’ – replied: “Not for a while.”
On Wednesday (18.01.23), the ‘Wall of Glass’ singer tweeted: “Just had RKID on the phone begging for forgiveness bless him wants to meet up what Dya reckon meet up or f*** him off (sic)”
It’s not clear if the band’s former frontman was joking or not, however the post led to Graham Coxon, guitarist for rival group Blur, calling on the brothers to put their longstanding feud behind them.
He replied: “Do it.”
Liam was asked by one follower if the ‘Wonderwall’ group getting back together would “overshadow” Blur’s upcoming reunion gigs, to which he replied: “Of course.”
Liam’s tweeting spree comes after Noel said he will “never say never” to an Oasis reunion.
The 55-year-old musician – who left the group in August 2009 after insisting he “could not go on working” with his brother Liam Gallagher “a day longer” – admitted he isn’t against the idea of teaming up with his sibling again, but it “would have to take an extraordinary set of circumstances”.
He said: “You should never say never, [but] it would have to take an extraordinary set of circumstances.
“That’s not to say that those circumstances would never come about.”
When asked by BBC Radio Manchester’s Mike Sweeney how he and Liam are getting on, he replied: “Oh, brilliantly, yeah. Genuinely, yeah.
“He [Liam] has taken a year out apparently to find himself.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Arlo Parks has unveiled her second studio album, ‘My Soft Machine’.
The 22-year-old singer – who won the 2021 Mercury Prize with ‘Collapsed in Sunbeams’ – will release the follow-up on May 26, and has given fans a taste of what’s to come with the ethereal lead single, ‘Weightless’.
Speaking of the meaning behind the track, she said: “’Weightless’ surrounds the painful experience of caring deeply about someone who only gives you tiny breadcrumbs of affection. It’s about suddenly realising that a person has dulled your edges and embarking on the slow journey back to being a brighter version of yourself.”
Arlo explores some dark subjects on the emotional LP, including “mid-20s anxiety, the substance abuse of friends around me, the viscera of being in love for the first time, navigating PTSD and grief.”
She shared: “The world/our view of it is peppered by the biggest things we experience – our traumas, upbringing, vulnerabilities almost like visual snow. This record is life through my lens, through my body – the mid-20s anxiety, the substance abuse of friends around me, the viscera of being in love for the first time, navigating PTSD and grief and self-sabotage and joy, moving through worlds with wonder and sensitivity – what it’s like to be trapped in this particular body. There is a quote from a Joanna Hogg film called the ‘Souvenir’, it’s an A24 semi-autobiographical film with Tilda Swinton – it recounts a young film student falling in love with an older, charismatic man as a young film student then being drawn into his addiction – in an early scene he’s explaining why people watch films – ‘we don’t want to see life as it is played out we want to see life as it is experienced in this soft machine.’ So there we have it, the record is called …. ‘My Soft Machine’.”
Phoebe Bridgers is featured on the track ‘Pegasus’, the only duet on the 12-track LP.

OHMYGOSSIP — A$AP Rocky’s fourth album is “finished”.
The ‘Fashion Killa’ star has revealed his follow-up to 2018’s ‘Testing’ just needs a few “finishing touches” before it’s ready to be shared with the world.
Rocky has poured his heart and soul into the “vulnerable” lyrics, in which he shares his “perspective” on how he views his peers and community.
He teased: “It’s finished and we just putting the finishing touches on it.
“The new stuff is me being vulnerable, and it’s just no filter, and just where I’m at, at my stage. My age and how I see things, my peers, the younger kids, the older cats, it’s just my perspective.”
This week, the music star shared the latest single, ‘Same Problems?’, which is dedicated to the hip-hop artists who died too young.
He said: “Without preaching too much, I just wanted to touch on something a bit different opposed to just being braggadocious, flamboyant and just regular rap content for me.”
Elsewhere, Rocky gushed that Rihanna’s music comeback is “just incredible”.
The rapper is thrilled that his partner – who gave birth to their baby boy last May – is staging a huge revival with her upcoming headline slot at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 12.
He told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “I’m so glad that my lady’s back making music again and whatnot, and getting back out there.
“It’s just incredible.”
He added: “The Super Bowl is huge, and her being the creative she is, she going to bring it, man. I’m excited. I’m more excited than everybody else, honestly.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Snoop Dogg, Gloria Estefan, Electric Light Orchestra’s Jeff Lynne and more have been chosen for induction into the 2023 Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Sade, Teddy Riley, Glen Ballard and Liz Rose are also being honoured at the induction ceremony on June 15 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
Rap icon Snoop – who is known for hits including ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ and ‘Gin and Juice’ – follows in the footsteps of previous hip-hop inductees Missy Elliott and Jay-Z in being recognised for their songwriting.
Estefan is known for the classics ‘Rhythm Is Gonna Get You’ and ‘Let’s Get Loud’, while ELO star Lynne penned timeless classics such as ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ and ‘Evil Woman’ and ‘Hold On Tight’.
Songwriters Hall of Fame chairman Nile Rodgers said in a statement: “The music industry does not exist without songwriters delivering great songs first. Without them there is no recorded music, no concert business, no merch.
“The 2023 slate represents not just iconic songs but also diversity and unity across genres, ethnicity and gender, songwriters who have enriched our lives and, in their time, literally transformed music and the lives of billions of listeners all over the world.”
Mariah Carey and Lil Nas X were among those recognised at the 2022 induction.
The former called for more women to be considered for induction.
She said at the ceremony: “I read that out of the 439 total inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, only 32 have been women, until now.”
And rapper Nas, 23, who was honoured with the Hal David Starlight Award, which pays tribute to young songwriters whose work is impacting the music industry, called for more diversity at awards.
He said: “I think we have a long way to go in some places, but I feel like the world is definitely trying its best to change in many ways.”
Meanwhile, Snoop has just announced the rescheduled dates for his UK and Ireland tour.
The legendary star will kick off the arena jaunt at Belfast’s SSE Arena on March 14, followed by dates in Manchester, Glasgow, London, Dublin, Leeds, and Birmingham.
Snoop will be joined by his peers and collaborators Warren G, Tha Dogg Pound, Obie Trice and D12.
Irish rap duo Versatile are also hitting the road with the icons of the West Coast scene.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi was forced to pause his concert after a fight broke out during ‘Hold Me While You Wait’.
The Scottish star was left flabbergasted after an alleged ruffle took place and a woman was escorted from Manchester’s AO Arena on Wednesday night (18.01.23).
Lewis was midway through performing the ballad from 2019’s ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ when he was forced to turn the floor lights on and have security see to the incident.
He told the crowd: “They are scrapping in the crowd there. Erm, we are going to have to get them out. We can’t be fighting.”
Lewis added: “What a weird song to fight to. Bizarre, bizarre.”
Another fight broke out on the opening night of the tour in Leeds, which also saw the ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker have a bra thrown onstage at him.
Donning the underwear, he quipped: “When I imagined the opening night of my sell-out arena tour, this is what I was thinking.”
While fans have been getting thrown out of his concerts, Lewis was recently thrown off Tinder.
The 26-year-old singer turned to dating apps in the hope of finding love – but Lewis was quickly removed from the platforms because his profile was assumed to be “fake”.
He explained: “I’ve just been kicked off Tinder because people think I’m fake.
“I’ve been kicked off Bumble, Tinder and Hinge. Someone told me to go on this one called Feeld and I go on it and it’s so sexual, it’s unbelievable.
“It’s all about kinks and BDSM and I’m like, ‘This is way beyond anything I’m tuned in for.'”
Lewis admits that his fame and success has actually made his love life more complicated.
Speaking to Steven Bartlett on the ‘Diary of a CEO’ podcast, Lewis shared: “At the end of the day, I’m still 25 and people talk about a power imbalance of someone being famous. I’m trying to work that out as well because I don’t want to use my fame, or for that to have any influence over someone I’m dating.
“What, am I only supposed to date people who are famous? That’s a really weird thing.

He tweeted this week alongside a picture of the pair at the special event: “My little superstar Amber I wish I wasn’t writing this, your passing the night before your 9th birthday has crushed me. I know you will be watching and singing at every gig I do and I’ll carry your spirit and smile with me forever. Love to the family x F*** you cancer! RIP Amber.”
Make-A-Wish UK commented: “The lovely Amber. Granting her wish ‘to have a festival’ is something we’ll never forget and her bright smile will always be remembered by all of us at Make-A-Wish UK. We’re sending the warmest wishes to you Tom.”

“As funny as this sounds. Oasis sell as many records now per year as we did when we were together. We’re as popular now in the eyes of the people as we ever were. And I’m happy with it. ”
The Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds frontman admitted “there’s no point” to getting back together as everyone is thriving – including his estranged brother Liam, who sold out Knebworth last summer after their iconic 1996 shows – since they left the group behind.
Noel said: “If we got back together there would be a circus – and there’s no point. Just leave it as it is. I’m happy. He’s [Liam Gallagher] doing his thing. He’s still selling out Knebworth. It’s like, mate, good luck to you, do you know what I mean?”
Last year, Liam said the ‘Definitely, Maybe’ band – who have sold more than 70 million albums across the world – “should never have split up” and he would “love” them to get back together after their 2009 break up.
The 50-year-old singer said: “If it happens, it happens. But I’m quite happy doing [my solo career]. We should never have split up, but we did, and this is where we’re at.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Randy Newman has postponed his UK and European tour after surgery for a broken neck.
The 79-year-old singer songwriter has revealed he needed major surgery and while the procedure was a success, he isn’t “quite ready” to hit the road again yet.
He said in a statement: “Recently, I noticed I was shrinking. People over whom I had towered now towered over me. Could this be payback for having written ‘Short People’?”
“Turns out, my neck was broken. They operated on me successfully, I think. For even now, I look less like an anteater and more like a folk rock artist from the early ’60s.
“But the doctor said I’m not quite ready to tour. I was really looking forward to coming to Europe to perform.
“I miss performing a great deal and I look forward to a time when I can come. I’m sorry I won’t see you this time but I will see you soon.”
The shows – which were set for February – were first announced in 2019 and scheduled for the following year, but they were initially delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a post on the ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me’ hitmaker’s official Twitter account, his team confirmed he couldn’t “safely travel of perform” at the moment.
They said: “Unfortunately, due to ongoing recovery from his most recent surgery, Randy Newman is unable to safely travel or perform. Therefore his European tour must be postponed.
“His medical team is currently unable to determine when he will be ready, and they will continue to work on his healing and monitor his progress so he can return to doing what he loves: playing music for his fans.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has heaped praise on her chart rival SZA’s LP ‘SOS’.
The pair’s fandoms caused a stir on social media earlier this month when the latter’s hit single ‘Kill Bill’ spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard 100, while Taylor’s ‘Midnights’ cut ‘Anti-Hero’ sat at number two.
However, the pair have quashed the suggestion of any beef between them.
Taylor re-shared Billboard’s article about ‘Anti-Hero’ becoming the longest-leading number on the Hot 100 chart after eight weeks on her Instagram Story and added: “Been listening to [SZA’s] album nonstop. Absolutely adore her music. So much love and respect for her!!”
And SZA responded her own Story: “Congratulations to Tay Tay! And thank you so much your album and writing is phenomenal… as always.”
Earlier this month, SZA – whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe – shot down the idea that she had fallen out with the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker over their chart battle.
She tweeted: “Uhh I feel silly that I even have to say this but i see supporters arguing and I hate that.
“I don’t have beef [with] ANYONE especially not Taylor lmao I genuinely loved her album and the writing!
“Everyone’s jus tryna do their BEST as we all should. LOVE TO EVERYONE. (sic)”
‘SOS’ is the first album to spend five weeks on the Billboard 200 chart since Adele’s ’30’, with Taylor’s ‘Midnights’ currently sat at number two.
Meanwhile, Taylor recently gave ‘Anti-Hero’ its live debut at The 1975’s London show.
Matty Healy and co headlined The O2 arena last week and had a very unexpected treat in store.
In a move no-one anticipated, the 33-year-old US pop megastar appeared on stage in a shiny silver sequin gown and performed the hit and an acoustic cover of The 1975’s track ‘The City’.
The surprise appearance comes after Matty claimed the indie pop band “worked on” a version of ‘Midnights’ that didn’t come to fruition.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks are among the artists featured on Dolly Parton’s upcoming rock album.
After being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the ‘Jolene’ hitmaker is set to release ‘Rock Star’, and she’s recruited some of the biggest names in rock’n’roll to feature on the LP.
During an appearance on ‘The View’, she was asked if Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger has added his pipes to a tune, to which she replied: “Well I’m doing my best to try and get him on [‘Rock Star’].
“But I did his song anyway.”
She has Pink and Brandi Carlile lined up to perform on ‘Satisfaction’ by the Stones.
Dolly teased: “I think Pink and Brandi Carlile are gonna be singing on that particular song [the Stones’ ‘Satisfaction’] with me.”
She then confirmed the former Beatles legend, 80, is part of the project along with Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie.
The ‘9 to 5’ singer added: “Stevie Nicks … we just finished our song last night.”
Dolly, 76, recently revealed she messaged Sir Elton John asking him to duet with her on ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me’.
She said: “I just recorded for my rock album and I did [Elton’s] song, ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me’. And I’ve sent out a message asking if he would sing with me on it and possibly play the piano. So if y’all get to see him, say Dolly wants you to sing on her record! So anyway, but I love him, just tell him to enjoy it because it was great fun for me.”
The late George Michael featured on a live cut of the 70s classic.
The upcoming album, which is poised for release in the latter end 2023, will feature a mix of classic rock covers and some new tunes in that vein.
Dolly teased: “I’m working on that album and that will be coming out sometime next fall hopefully, in time for the Christmas season next year. And so I’m going to do a lot of classic songs that are rock songs and then a few that I’ve written.”
Elsewhere, the country icon also had some advice for the ‘Tiny Dancer’ ahead of his headline set at Glastonbury next summer.
She said: “Tell him to enjoy it, because it was great fun for me.”
Dolly admitted she had no idea if she was “festival material” before she headlined Glastonbury.

The 72-year-old glam rock legend will perform her greatest hits and more as part the run marking the 50th anniversary of her first number one hit, 1973’s ‘Can The Can’.
Quatro will play shows in Cardiff, Brighton, Wolverhampton, Manchester, with a stop at the iconic London Palladium set for November 15.
The US rock star said in a statement: “I am now in my 59th year in this business!
“Last year I played the Royal Albert Hall and was high on it for 4 days! Whether it’s in the UK, Australia, Europe, doesn’t matter. I was born to entertain, I was born to rock and roll and have no plans of stopping anytime soon!
“I am so excited to be doing this tour because this year I am celebrating the 50th anniversary of Can the Can, my first number one.
“Can I?, Can you?, Can we?
“YES…. WE CAN !!!! Come and join me and let’s CAN THE CAN together.”
Tickets go on general sale at 10am this Friday (20.01.23).
Meanwhile, in 2020, Quatro revealed she managed to pen two albums worth of songs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Detroit musician – who had COVID-19 that year – said: “This is what I’ve done my whole life. When things get tough, I create. When my first marriage was going bad, I wrote a musical. Creativity, that’s what saves me every time, so I’ve been non-stop this year. I had something like 85 or 90 shows booked, even busier than last year, and of course they’re all postponed.
“As soon as we found ourselves in this situation, I built a studio out the back, and I said to my son, ‘The option has been taken up [record company] SPV for the next album, so now that we can’t play live, we’re going to write this album,’ and that’s what we did. We wrote songs every single day, and now we’re recording it. It’s going fantastic. I’ve also released a coffee table-sized lyric book called ‘Through My Words’, and I’m working on two more books.”
Quatro – who has sold more than 50 million records worldwide – released her 18th studio album, ‘The Devil In Me’, in 2021.

OHMYGOSSIP — Romy’s debut solo album is “very close” to being complete.
The xx star released her debut solo single ‘Lifetime’ in 2020, but fans are still waiting for a full album from the musician and DJ.
And Romy has teased that the project is in the vein of her latest Fred Again.. collaboration ‘Strong’ and is “club-inspired, dance-y, emotional.”
During an appearance on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, she said of the progress of her LP: “It is actually, and I can say this now, very close to being finished.
“And it took a bit longer than I thought, and thank you for being patient.”
Quizzed on whether fans can expect the album this year, she replied: “I mean, yeah, I really hope so. That’s not in my control, but I’m really excited and it’s been really fun working with the people I’ve worked with on it. And I’m excited for people to hear it.”
What’s more, Romy confirmed she reunited with her xx bandmates Oliver Sim and Jamie xx to pen some new tunes over the festive period.
She said: “There’s so much love there. It’s been really fun to do some new stuff and learn and have a new experiences like this.”
The reunion comes after Oliver teased new music is “definitely” on the cards.
The composer – who dropped his debut solo album ‘Hideous Bastard’ in 2021 – reassured fans that while the trio is busy with their respective solo careers, they will regroup to record new tunes.
Appearing on the Consequence’s ‘Kyle Meredith With…’ podcast, he said: “The xx will always be my home and will always be my priority. And normally I wouldn’t speak for Romy [Madley Croft] and Jamie [xx], but I know they feel the same. I think all of us doing our solo projects just makes me excited. It’s like, how is this gonna change the band? What have we all learned independently? And nothing is recorded at the moment, but there is more music from The xx, definitely.”
The xx’s last studio album was 2017’s ‘I See You’, and in 2018 they released remix LP ‘Remixes’.
In summer 2018, bassist-and-vocalist Oliver gave an update on the progress of their new material.
He said: “I’ve done a lot of work with Romy in the last couple of weeks. “I’ve done a lot of work with Jamie, but we haven’t had that moment yet of all three of us being in the room together.”
He added that they’d been working on individual projects “as if we’re making our own records”.
Away from the band, singer-and-guitarist Romy has co-written a number of tracks, including Dua Lipa and Silk City’s mega-hit ‘Electricity’, while Jamie co-wrote Florence + The Machine’s ‘Big God’ and is listed as a producer on Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus’ ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’.
Last year, Romy teamed up with Fred Again… on ‘Lights Out’, while Jamie had been touring and playing festivals.

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Ocean has suggested he has a new album on the way.
The 35-year-old star had previously made it known that he would release new music as one-off singles instead of album form, but he has seemingly had a change of heart and has teased a potential follow-up to 2016’s ‘Blonde’ on a poster for his merchandise.
The print notes that a “fictitious recording artist” (seemingly Ocean) preferred “the singles distribution model as opposed to the long-form album model,” as it was “more suited to modern consumption habits.”
The biggest hint yet that another LP is on the way came with the admission that: “The Recording Artist has since changed his mind about the singles model, and is again interested in more durational bodies of work.”
The ‘Novacane’ hitmaker – who is headlining Coachella this April – wiped his Instagram page clear in September, suggesting new music is imminent.
Since ‘Blonde’, fans have had a slew of singles, including ‘DHL’, ‘In My Room’, ‘Cayendo’ and ‘Dear April’.
Ocean has also aired unreleased music on his ‘Blonded Radio’ show.
In 2021, HITS Daily Double reported that Ocean had been “taking meetings and playing new music for execs as he plans his return.”
The ‘Swim Good’ hitmaker is no longer signed to a label, after splitting from Def Jam Recordings before the release of ‘Blonde’.
And the outlet claimed Ocean is trying “his best to avoid doing business with the majors.”
The ‘Nikes’ star had previously insisted he doesn’t feel the need to release a full collection of songs and suggested he might stick to a “half-a-song format”.
At the time, he said: “Because I am not in a record deal, I don’t have to operate in an album format. I can operate in half-a-song format.”
The ‘Slide’ hitmaker also said it was important for him to self-release ‘Blonde’, because he didn’t have to worry about how it did in the charts like his previous album, 2012’s ‘Channel Orange’.
He said: “With this record [‘Blonde’] in particular, I wanted to feel like I won before the record came out, and I did, and so it took a lot pressure off of me about how the record even would perform after the fact. Once the goal is met, everything else is lagniappe. It’s not essential for me to have a big debut week, it’s not essential for me to have big radio records.”
