Pharrell tells fans of Beyonce to ‘get ready’ as he hints at new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Pharrell Williams has told fans to “get ready” for new Beyoncé music.
The ‘Happy’ hitmaker, 51, and the Grammy winner, 43, have teamed up several times over the years, and it looks like fans can expect some more new music.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Pharrell gushed: “So happy for her.
“And I’m so grateful to be a part of her story and her journey and her trajectory. We’ve had a lot of fun. Get ready, though. Just get ready.”
However, when pressed for more details, the producer coyly replied: “Just get ready.”
Pharrell could be referring to the fact he’s worked on music for the upcoming Disney film ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’, which sees the ‘Crazy in Love’ hitmaker voice Nala.
Recently, Pharrell recalled designing a special custom jumpsuit for Beyoncé’s tour that celebrated “her shape and form” and was “informed by her “rare spirit”.
The ‘Get Lucky’ hitmaker and fashion icon, who is creative director for Louis Vuitton Menswear, detailed the thought process behind the dazzling black bedazzled all-in-one he crafted for the singer’s performance of ‘Formation’ on her ‘Renaissance’ tour.
In a video clip on the Louis Vuitton Instagram page, he said: “Beyoncé is a rare spirit.
“The idea that I know her as a human being and have known her for all this time and our connection, I feel like I’ve known this person for many lives.”
On creating the look to suit her iconic hourglass curves and to allow her to move freely onstage, he explained: “The idea here was to give her something that allows her body to set the template. Not only its shape and its form, which is basically informed by her spirit. Your body is literally a spiritual encasement. Continue to celebrate her shape and her form, but also make her feel free at the same time.”
He went on: “Everything was designed with an intention that a true, rare, very powerful spirit is meant to move.”
The designer also created matching outfits for the ‘Cuff It’ singer and her 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter and her backing dancers.

Shawn Mendes releases electrifying rock ballad Nobody Knows

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn Mendes has released his latest single ‘Nobody Knows’.
After delivering an electrifying debut performance of the soulful tune at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City on Wednesday night (11.09.24), which saw fans scream in delight throughout, the Canadian pop star has released the rock ballad as the third single from his upcoming self-titled fifth studio album.
The latest tune follows the release of ‘Why Why Why’ and ‘Isn’t That Enough’, with the full album set to follow on October 18.
Shawn’s VMAs performance comes after he admitted he lost his sense of purpose after cancelling his world tour in 2022.
The ‘Treat You Better’ singer continued his return to performing with an intimate gig at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane last month, and discussed his fragile state of mind following his decision to scrap his world tour after just seven shows two years ago for the sake of his mental health.
Shawn told fans at the show: “I got back to LA and I was like, ‘I have no idea who I am and what to do with myself’.
“I was not really singing, I was not really playing guitar.”
Shawn was propelled to global stardom as a teenager with hits like ‘Stitches’ and ‘There’s Nothing Holding Me Back’ and talked about the loneliness and anxiety that comes with being in the spotlight.
The 26-year-old singer said: “The thing that was so terrifying for me was this sensation of being alone… in a situation where it was all on my shoulders.
“It gets heavy when it’s all on your shoulders (but) these days I’m starting to realise there’s a lot of people I can fall back on.”
The London show was one of a series of ‘For My Friends and Family Only’ concerts to showcase the artist’s new album ‘Shawn’ – which draws on his experience from the past two years.
In a heartfelt message posted on Instagram, Shawn wrote: “Music really can be medicine. 2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift. (sic)”
Next month, he will play Nashville, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Seattle.

Dua Lipa announces world tour dates

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa has announced the full schedule for her 2025 ‘Radical Optimism Tour’.
The pop star previously confirmed the shows will start in Asia in November 2024 but has now announced there will then be a break before she returns to the stage to kick off the 2025 shows in Australia in March before heading to Europe and North America.
Dua, 29, announced the shows in a post on Instagram, writing: “‘Radical Optimism Tour’ 2025. They said ‘Miss 2022 Dua’. Well I’ll be hauling a** for the foreseeable future and I can’t wait to bring this show to you.”
The singer will tour Asia in November with shows in Singapore, the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia and Thailand, and will then return in March for performances in Australia and New Zealand.
The tour will then head to Europe in May and June covering cities including Madrid, Spain, Lyon, France, Hamburg, Germany, Amsterdam, Netherlands and Milan, Italy before she lands back on home soil for two massive shows at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 20 and 21.
Her other UK date will be a stop in Liverpool and she will play a show in Dublin, Ireland before taking the tour across the Atlantic in September for dates in Canada and North America.
The North American leg kicks off in Toronto, Canada on September 1 and will take in cities including Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, New York, Miami and Dallas before concluding in Seattle on October 16.
Dua headlined the UK’s famous Glastonbury Festival this summer and went on to announce her shows at London’s Wembley Stadium for 2025.
She said in a statement: “There couldn’t be a better time to share this with you all! I am still flying high from the magic of headlining the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this weekend, and I am absolutely thrilled to announce I’ll be playing Wembley Stadium this time next year.”
A source later added to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Dua still can’t believe she gets to headline Wembley Stadium.
“She wants to make it feel like a giant disco and make sure everyone has the best seat in the house.
“Walking through the crowd during one of her songs allows her to feel intimate with her fans while performing to 80,000 of them.”

Snow Patrol struggled to find their way as a trio

OHMYGOSSIP — Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody feared the band were over while making their new album because it “just wasn’t happening” in the recording studio.
The ‘Chasing Cars’ hitmakers are now a trio comprising the singer, Nathan Connolly and Johnny McDaid, following the departures of drummer Jonny Quinn and bassist Paul Wilson, and it took them some time to find their way while working on latest LP ‘The Forest Is The Path’.
Explaining how they’d struggled with the record for five months but it “wasn’t happening”, Gary admitted to The Sun newspaper: “It was a rocky time and so, because we’d just been through quite a difficult process trying to make the album and now we were a three-piece, I thought, ‘Are we kidding ourselves? Is this too big a hill to climb?’
“We were helped back to health by a producer friend, Michael Keeney, and it was what we needed, as our confidence had been shaken. We just had to figure out what the three of us wanted to do.
“And it was an easy and quick answer. We wanted to continue, and so here we are.”
Meanwhile, after previously working with Taylor Swift on ‘The Last Time’, a track from her 2012 album ‘Red’, Gary admitted he would be “up for” writing with the pop superstar again, though he hasn’t seen her for some time.
Asked if he had attended her ‘Eras Tour’, he admitted: “I haven’t seen the show. I should, but we’ve been flat out doing press and gigs.
“But I did get my sister and niece tickets in Ireland, and loads of friends have been recently. Everyone is absolutely blown away by her. It’s fantastic.
“I haven’t seen her in a while but of course I’d be up for working with her again — if she’d have me.”
‘The Forest is the Path’ – the group’s first album since 2018’s ‘Wildness’ – was released on Friday (13.09.24).

Introducing The Stingrays and their debut EP My Everything

OHMYGOSSIP — Yellow Days, aka George van den Broek, has released his debut EP with new group The Stingrays.
‘My Everything’ boasts the same live members he played with under the former moniker, Hector Delicious and Milo-G, and as the title suggests, is all about falling head-over-heels in love.
Bassist Hector said of the title track: “‘My Everything’ is about the weak-kneed effect of love. Just melting under the gaze of someone special. How simple things like the sound of them saying your name and being able to hold them makes you completely powerless.
“And all you can do is hand over ownership of you and your world. As that’s all the things you have and are able to offer them. In exchange of course, all you want is them, forever.”
The two-song EP – which showcases the trio’s impeccable three-way vocal harmonies – also includes the track ‘Just a Fish In The Sea’ about enjoying the “small things in life”.
Drummer Milo-G added: “‘Just a Fish In The Sea’ is about existentialism. About how powerless we are in life, it’s a testimony of the belief in fate over free-will. How small we are in the big picture of the universe and let alone just this world we live in.
It encourages you to just enjoy the small things in life and that that is truly enough to live a happy life. That the larger greater forces should be or are by nature left to the stars, universe or even god depending on your outlook. Not to creatures like us.”
Hector and Milo-G stepped away from Yellow Days but George was still keen to make music with his friends, which led to the formation of The Stingrays.

Noel Gallagher’s guitar sells for a whopping £132k

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher’s guitar has sold for a whopping £132,000 – almost double its estimate.
The 57-year-old Oasis star’s Epiphone Les Paul electric, which is featured in the music video and artwork of the Britpop legends’ debut single ‘Supersonic’, only had an estimate of £60,000 to £80,000.
The guitar was one of three of Noel’s sold as part of Sotheby’s annual Popular Culture Auction.
His Epiphone EA-250 Guitar also went for £48,000, and his 1980 Gibson Flying V Guitar, which his pal Johnny Marr gave to him and was used for Oasis’ 1994 classic ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’, fetched £36,000.
The sale comes after the ‘Wonderwall’ hitmakers – who split in 2009 following a backstage bust-up between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, 51, at their final concert in Paris – announced their reunion tour, which will see the band play stadiums in the UK and Ireland next summer.
The auction also included a Jean-Paul Gaultier black leather jacket worn by Freddie Mercury, and items owned by singer Marianne Faithfull, 77.
The studded jacket, which the late Queen frontman wore at The Dominion Theatre in London in 1988, sold for £72,000.
Head of Popular Culture, Katherine Schofield, commented: “It has been brilliant to offer these important Oasis guitars from the beginning of the Britpop era in our inaugural Pop Culture sale at Sotheby’s. It’s a fitting tribute to celebrate, not only the 30th Anniversary of Definitely Maybe, but also the recent announcement of the long-awaited Oasis reunion. It was thrilling to see such strong and competitive bidding for these culturally significant guitars, previously used by Noel Gallagher. Together with the sale of a Steinway Piano from Abbey Road Studios and items from Marianne Faithfull’s collection, the auction engaged new and existing clients and we have welcomed many enthusiasts, buyers and collectors to view our curated exhibition in advance of the auction.”

Doja Cat wants to write music she loves and not just ‘protect her pockets’

OHMYGOSSIP — Doja Cat doesn’t want to write hits just to “protect her pockets”.
The ‘Paint The Town Red’ hitmaker has admitted she has done songs in the past just to be popular, but she is now keen to experiment with the eclectic mix of genres that she loves, including jazz, neo soul, indie and rock music.
In an interview conducted by singer Jack Harlow for Present Space, Doja said: “I really love jazz music, and I love neo soul, and different kinds of rock music and indie and experimental music. That stuff tends to get pushed to the side by the general populace, and I didn’t see it in the past for me, so I did the thing that I knew would stick. Now, I feel like I can take those elements that I have from the music that sticks and put it into this soup of different genres that I really love and enjoy and respect, and make something new with it. That’s what I’ve always loved to do, is swirl a lot of different sounds together, but really in the future, I want to start going in a different direction sonically that isn’t supposed to just protect my pockets necessarily, and isn’t just supposed to woo the younger fans or the people who only want to hear sexual themes or self-medication or stuff like that. There’s so much to life and it’s been a pattern of writing about those things for me, but now I want to stretch the canvas.”
The 28-year-old rapper stepped away from her conventional pop style on her latest record, ‘Scarlet’, focusing on hip-hop and R’n’B.
Doja Cat insists that even if she gets deep with her lyrics, she will always retain her “tongue-in-cheek” element.
She said: “I think I’m just more excited about whatever the future holds for me, because I know I have more experiences to write about.
“My growth makes me feel more secure about the things that I’m planning to write. I do still want to keep it tongue in cheek and fun. I think sometimes when you get personal about things that maybe even bother you, oftentimes, people either can’t connect because they’re such specific situations, or they really connect in an intense way because it’s so specific. I think when you write very simple things—partying is a big one, because partying is something people enjoy—it’s like you’re giving someone a place to escape into, like a fantasy book. People really want to read that book or listen to that song that makes them feel like they’re at a party. I want to still keep that energy and that spirit, but I want to keep it interesting too. I don’t want to keep regurgitating the same thing over and over.”

The Cure’s long-awaited new album looks set to drop in November

OHMYGOSSIP — The Cure have seemingly confirmed the release date of their first album in 16 years via postcards.
Fans of the ‘Friday, I’m in Love’ group received a black postcard with the letters of the album’s title, ‘Songs Of A Lost World’, scattered across it and a date in Roman numerals, November 1, suggesting there is less than two months to go before new music from the post-punk rockers.
Over on the group’s social media pages, they swapped out their old profile picture for a fresh one with a new logo.
Fans were also directed to the ‘Lovecats’ hitmakers’ website to sign up to their mailing list.
Speaking to NME in 2022, Robert, 65, revealed the band were working on two distinctively different records, one of which is ‘Songs Of A Lost World’, while the singer is also preparing a solo record.
He said at the time: “So I’ve been working on two Cure albums, and one of them is finished.
“Unfortunately, it’s the second one that’s finished. [On the other] I’ve got to do four vocals, and there are 10 songs on each album. We’re mixing next month on April 1, so I’ve got three weeks left.
“I know what it’s called – it’s called ‘Songs Of The Lost World’. It’s got artwork, it’s got a running order, it’s almost done! They’re so slow because of vinyl, but it might come in September. I’d rather it just came out. I can’t stand the anticipation.”
On what fans can expect, he continued: “Well the first Cure album is relentless doom and gloom. It’s the doomiest thing that we’ve ever done. The second one is upbeat, and my [solo] one won’t be out until next year.”
‘Songs Of A Lost World’ will be the long-awaited follow-up to 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’.

Razorlight share new song Zombie Love and confess new album was unexpected

OHMYGOSSIP — Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell has admitted he doubted the band would release another album.
The ‘America’ group recently announced ‘Planet Nowhere’, the first full-length record by the group’s classic line-up – Johnny, guitarist Bjorn Agren, drummer Andy Burrows and bassist Carl Dalem – since 2008.
And upon the release of their latest single, ‘Zombie Love’, he confessed he didn’t anticipate recording a follow-up to 2008’s ‘Slipway Fires’.
He says the song – which follows the recent singles ‘Scared of Nothing’ and ‘Empire Service’ – is inspired by Outkast, Beck and The Pixies, and quipped that fans can “sue” him if it doesn’t sound remotely like the three acts.
He said of the track: “’Zombie Love’ was the first thing that Andy and I wrote when we got back together. I was trying to land it somewhere between Outkast, Beck’s ‘Midnite Vultures’ and The Pixies. If I didn’t manage that then sue me. I spent a while listening to songs from the ‘00s and I’m absolutely honoured and completely humbled to have been mentioned in the same breath as so many great bands over the years. So if you’re reading this and had anything to do with giving this band any praise at any point, let me just say thanks. I probably would have been a better artist if I’d been able to relax just for a second back then. What can I say, I’m all or nothing, I was like a lightning bolt striking the same place over and over again. The definition of madness, but maybe it brought something.”
The 44-year-old rocker insists he doesn’t need anyone else to tell him their music is “good”.
He added: “I really didn’t expect there to ever be another Razorlight album, I did it because it’s good, I wouldn’t make music for any other reason. I think it could be a lot of people’s favourite Razorlight album too. But right now, 1 per cent of our fans know it exists. Let’s try and get that to 5 per cent? Oh and f*** you, we still don’t need you to tell us we’re good.”
‘Planet Nowhere’ is released on October 25.

Jane’s Addiction cancel tour after on-stage altercation

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane’s Addiction have cancelled their North American tour following an on-stage altercation between Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro.
The 65-year-old frontman clashed with Dave, 57, during a gig in Boston on Friday (13.09.24), and the band have now announced that they are discontinuing their current tour.
A statement posted on Dave’s Instagram account, signed by the guitarist and bandmates Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins, reads: “Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour. Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs. (sic)”
The band feel broken-hearted about the situation – but suggested that they have no realistic alternative.
They explained: “We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis.

Miley Cyrus sued for copyright infringement over similarities to Bruno Mars’ When I Was Your Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus is being sued for copyright infringement over her 2023 hit ‘Flowers’.
The 31-year-old pop star has been accused of lifting the melody, harmony, and chorus of Bruno Mars’ 2012 hit ‘When I Was Your Man’ by Tempo Music Investments, who claim to have a share in the latter tune, TMZ reports.
The lyrics are a paraphrase of Bruno’s song but because they were only similar ideas it wasn’t necessary for him to be listed as a co-writer on ‘Flowers’.
Miley’s chorus goes: “I can buy myself flowers.
“Write my name in the sand.
“Talk to myself for hours.
“Say things you don’t understand.
“I can take myself dancing.
“And I can hold my own hand.
“Yeah, I can love me better than you can.”
Bruno sings on his track: “That I should’ve bought you flowers and held your hand … Now my baby’s dancin’, but she’s dancin’ with another man.”
Miley won multiple awards for the hit, including a Grammy for Record of the Year, but Tempo Music Investments insists she wouldn’t have received the accolades without ‘When I Was Your Man’.
The firm told the outlet: “It is undeniable based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings that ‘Flowers’ would not exist without ‘When I Was Your Man.’”
The company is not only seeking money from the former Disney star but wants her to be banned from performing the song.
Bruno, 38, is not part of the lawsuit against Miley.
‘Flowers’ featured on Miley’s album ‘Endless Summer Vacation’.
The chart-topping disco pop tune was rumoured to be a swipe at her ex-husband, 34-year-old actor Liam Hemsworth.
Commenting on the hit’s global success, Miley tweeted at the time: “Celebrating “Flowers” being #1 around the world again this week! I love that this record is connecting in such a positive way and it’s a pleasure to continue creating music for you. These milestones are only made possible by the listeners and my incredible fans. Endlessly thankful. (sic)”

Perry Farrell apologises for ‘inexcusable behaviour’ after Jane’s Addiction row

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell has apologised for his “inexcusable behaviour” after an on-stage altercation with Dave Navarro.
The 65-year-old frontman clashed with the 57-year-old guitarist during the band’s gig in Boston on Friday (13.09.24) with the band subsequently cancelling the remainder of their North American tour dates.
In a statement on his Instagram Story on Monday (17.09.24), Perry has since said: “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only that I apologise to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show.
“Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behaviour, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
Earlier in the day, the band has announced they had decided to scrap the rest of their tour.
A statement on Dave’s Instagram account – signed by the guitarist and his bandmates Eric Avery and Stephen Merkins – read: “Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour. Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs. (sic)”

Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan: Slipknot aren’t close anymore

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan admits that Slipknot are “not that close anymore”.
The heavy metal band have been marking 25 years since the release of their debut self-titled album but Crahan acknowledged that the numerous line-up changes since – including the tragic deaths of bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison – mean that the rockers are unlikely to recapture the bond they once had.
The 54-year-old musician – a co-founder of Slipknot – told Metal Hammer magazine: “Brother, the band will never be like that again.
“I can’t tell you how close we were then: we’re not that close anymore. People are gone. Craig (Jones) is out. Chris (Fehn) is out, Joey’s out, Paul’s out. The band is different.
“But, back then, there was nine guys that wanted to be in the same place, and we made it work. And we wound up here, and here is wonderful.”
Crahan suggested earlier this year that the Slipknot would be going “back to basics” in celebration of the anniversary.
He told NME: “In 25 years of writing seven albums, we’ve allowed ourselves to do anything and everything we want. We do what we want, as much as we want, when we want, how we want.
“I’m ready to move on from what has been, and move onto a world that I know needs to be. For instance, normally we’d have about two years on and one-and-a-half years off – we’re not doing that anymore.”
The percussionist added: “We’re going back to basics. I’m ready to kick everybody in the face again! I’m ready to do a 100-person venue again! I’m ready to do a 500-person venue.
“We want to play in front of 500 people, but there are a lot of factors that will mean it can’t happen. We’re at the point where we’ve got to ensure safety.”

Addison Rae is taking inspiration from Charli XCX as she launches pop career

OHMYGOSSIP — Addison Rae credits Charli XCX for helping her to become a pop star.
The TikTok sensation released her major label debut single ‘Diet Pepsi’ earlier this year and is grateful for the ‘Apple’ hitmaker’s knowledge for helping her make a splash in the industry after the pair teamed up for a remix of her track ‘Von Dutch’.
Addison is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column as saying: “It’s inspiring, being around somebody like Charli who has been around so long and has continuously followed her heart with who she is in the music and everything, it’s really inspiring to just watch that and see her doing it so fearlessly.
“And for me it was leaning into that and not being afraid to chase those dreams.”
Some observers have questioned Addison’s musical prowess because she found fame on social media – accumulating over 88 million followers on TikTok – but she isn’t paying attention to the negativity.
The 23-year-old star said: “There’s no right or wrong way to get where I want to go. It’s OK if it doesn’t look the same.
“A lot of people will be afraid and feel maybe they’re not good enough, now I’ve got to the stage where I’m like that’s just part of the journey.
“I’m not afraid to continue making mistakes as long as I’m learning.”
The music video for ‘Diet Pepsi’ features Addison using her feet to feed whipped cream to somebody and she admits that it was rather unhygienic.
She joked: “There’s lots of feet and whipped cream but we had wipes – we were really cleaning.
“It was really important to have sanitising (but) was impossible to feel this isn’t disgusting.”

‘It’s something that I just naturally hold back’: Dua Lipa won’t use music to share her private life

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa doesn’t want her music to be overly personal.
The 29-year-old star explained that she won’t bare her soul on her records for the sake of getting “people’s attention” and suggested that other artists are “ruthless” at exposing their private lives through their work.
In an interview with Anderson Cooper for ’60 Minutes’, Dua said: “It’s something that I just naturally hold back.
“Some people are just so ruthless with their own private life that they decide to put it all out in a song because they know that it’s gonna attract people’s attention.”
The ‘Houdini’ hitmaker continued: “For me, it was always important to make music that people really loved, not because I was putting someone out on blast.
“Not because I’m doing it for the clickbait at maybe someone else’s expense.”
Dua’s second album ‘Future Nostalgia’ proved to be a major hit despite being released at the height of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and was delighted to be dubbed ‘The Quarantine Queen’.
She said: “It didn’t end up being, you know, the night club experience, but it ended up being the kitchen dance parties. The soundtrack to people’s workouts at home, to kind of keep them sane during that time.”
Dua is a lover of dance music but gets frustrated by the stigma that surrounds female artists in the genre.
The ‘Levitating’ singer said: “You’re always met with some kind of pushback as a female artist if you’re not, like, with a guitar or with a piano.
“Just like, ‘Oh, she can’t sing. Oh, it’s all processed. Oh, it’s this, oh it’s whatever.'”
