OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna is reportedly planning to announce a tour after her headline Super Bowl halftime show performance.
The ‘Work’ hitmaker is poised to make her big live music comeback by performing at the Super Bowl LVII on Sunday (12.02.23), and now it’s been claimed she is gearing up for a huge tour.
One insider told the New York Post’s Page Six column: “There has been a lot of talk among people in the know, especially in the last week or two, that Rihanna is gearing up to announce a tour.
“It seems to be more than just hearsay at this point.”
Another source told the outlet: “Even some members of Rihanna’s team have been kept in the dark. It’s all a big secret, from the details of her halftime show to what’s next — if anything.”
Last year, Rihanna revealed that her baby boy inspired her to perform at the Super Bowl.
The ‘Needed Me’ singer – who gave birth to her baby boy in May – shared: “I feel like it was now or never, really. There’s this weird s*** that happens when you become a mom, that you just unleash or unlock other parts of your superpower, you feel like you can take on or you could do anything.
“I wanted to take on the challenge and I wanted to do something that would force me to get back onstage.”
On motherhood, she added: “It is crazy. It is amazing. It’s wild. It’s weird. It’s all of those things, all at once. The best feeling. The most love I’ve ever known.
“I can’t describe it. It’s new. It’s fascinating. Every step, every facial expression, every new milestone. I love it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie’s handwritten lyrics to ‘Jean Genie’ have fetched £46,000 at auction.
The late music icon had originally given the lyric sheet for the 1972 hit from his LP ‘Aladdin Sane’ to David Bowie fan club founder Neal Peters.
The lyrics went under the hammer at Omega Auctions in Newton-Le-Willows, Merseyside.
Auctioneer Paul Fairweather said: “We’re well pleased with the price achieved for this historic set of lyrics.”
The A4 sheet is signed and dated by the ‘Life on Mars’ hitmaker.
The latest Bowie lyric sale comes after handwritten ‘Starman’ lyrics sold for in excess of £200,000.
The sheet had all the corrections and edits made by the star himself and went under the hammer in Australia breaking the original estimate of £40,000 to sell for a whopping £203,500 – with the winning bidder named as Olivier Varenne, director of acquisitions and alliances and collections at the Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) in Tasmania.
The museum’s owner and founder David Walsh said of the sale: “We got carried away and paid too much. It’ll make an appearance in the expanded library we are currently constructing, along with many other items we got carried away with and paid too much for.”
Fairweather added: “We had almost unprecedented interest from around the world for this historic piece of memorabilia. We had five telephone lines in operation for the sale as well as bidders online and in the room.
“We’re very pleased with the incredible price achieved and are sure the lyrics will be rightly prized and treasured by the winning bidder.”
The lyric sheet had been with the same owner since the 1980s and had previously been displayed at the V and A Museum in London as part of the institution’s David Bowie collection.
‘Starman’ featured on Bowie’s fifth album ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’, and is credited with helping propel the singer to international fame.
Bowie died aged 69 on January 10, 2016.

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian May doesn’t think Queen will ever make an album of new songs with Adam Lambert because the band’s fans love Freddie Mercury too much.
The legendary rock band have been touring with the ‘American Idol’ runner-up since 2012 with their tours earning rave reviews and getting bigger and bigger.
There has been much talk and speculation about Queen recording their first LP of new material since Freddie died from AIDS in November 1991 at the age of just 45, and although Brian, Adam and drummer Roger Taylor have laid down some potential songs in the studio, the 75-year-old guitarist is deterred by Queen fans who are opposed to the idea, but Brian respects their loyalty to the late flamboyant frontman.
In an interview with Total Guitar magazine, he said: “We have been in the studio. We did knock a few ideas around in the middle of one of those tours. But it just never quite reached the place where we felt it was going to be right. So we haven’t pursued it that far.
“I really don’t know. But I think there’s a bit of a barrier there. I think if people see Queen on a record label, they still want it to be Freddie singing. It could be Jesus Christ on it, but they’d still want Freddie, and I don’t blame people for that.
“There are people on Instagram who get annoyed with me, ‘Why are you still carrying on without Freddie?’ And I go, ‘Don’t tell me what I should do! I do what I feel I should be doing.’”
Queen’s last studio album was 1995’s ‘Made In Heaven’ which had Freddie on vocals.
Brian admits there are still some fans who are unhappy that Queen + Adam Lambert even tour, but he insists Freddie would be happy that the band have continued to play their music.
He said: “There are people who like we shouldn’t even be going on stage without Freddie. But I think that would have been very sad, and that’s not what Freddie would have wanted either. He would have wanted us to continue developing. And of course, because we are continuing and developing, it keeps his legacy alive.
Despite his own astonishing vocal abilities, Brian thinks that Freddie would have been a little bit jealous of Adam’s incredible singing voice.
He said: “I’ve heard a billion voices in my life, and I’ve never heard a voice like Adam’s. Time an time again, I can picture Freddie saying, ‘You b******!’ Because Adam’s range is so ridiculous, isn’t it? And so often, I’ve found myself wishing that Freddie and Adam could have gotten together, because they would have had the greatest time. They’re so similar in some ways, personally and musically.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith says it’s easy for them share their feelings in their songs because their dad is a “very emotional” man.
The 30-year-old singer became a global music star thanks to the raw tracks on their first two albums, 2014’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ and 2017’s ‘The Thrill of It All’.
But Sam insists it has never been a challenge to be so open in their lyrics because his father Frederick – who stayed at home and raised his family while his wife Kate went to work as a broker – is such a beautiful and sensitive man.
Speaking to CBC Radio, he said: “You’d have to go back to my upbringing to understand why it’s easier for me. My dad is very emotional, my mum worked and my dad stayed at home. My dad cries, my dad feels all the emotions, and he’s open about his emotions. Me and my family it’s quite wild how we speak to each other, it’s very vulnerable and sensitive.”
Sam admits they found it harder to convey feelings like anger and joy in the songs on their new LP ‘Gloria’ because they had never attempted it before.
The ‘Stay With Me’ hitmaker said: “Other feelings like anger and opinions, like the way I’ve put them across in ‘Gloria’, they’ve always been quite scary to me.
“I think as a queer person to lean into the joy can feel quite radical, sometimes. What was scary was the way I moved my body when I’m joyful, or the way that I dance, it felt like doing that in front of thousands of people was always petrifying to me. I can do it in clubs, I can do it with my family, I can do it with boyfriends, stuff like that, but I guess there was always a little bit of shame about the way I moved my body when I was younger, but as I’ve gotten older I look for happiness.”
At the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (05.02.23) Sam and Kim Petras accepted the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance prize for their hit single ‘Unholy’ and their astonishing performance of the track was introduced by Queen of Pop Madonna who praised the pair for being “fearless”.
She said: “Are you ready for a little controversy? Come on people, let’s make some noise. Y’all are going to sleep over here.
“So, here’s what I’ve learned after four decades in music — if they call you shocking, scandalous, troublesome, problematic, provocative or dangerous, you’re definitely on to something.

OHMYGOSSIP — UB40 feat. Ali Campbell are set to play at Margate Summer Series.
The reggae band will be joining an extensive list of world-class musical talent at Dreamland Margate for the 2023 edition of the outdoor summer show.
Named after a British unemployment benefit form, UB40 founded back in 1978, with their multiracial line-up reflecting the working-class community the members of their band came from.
The Birmingham band has had more than 50 tracks in the UK Singles Chart and have served up hits including ‘Red Red Wine’ and ‘Kingston Town’ earning them enormous success and global acclaim.
Duncan Campbell replaced brother Ali in 2008 after he left over a disagreement about management.
Ali and original member Astro went on to tour under the UB40 name as well as the group fronted by Duncan who was replaced by KIOKO’s Matt Doyle in 2021, after he was forced to end his tenure in the group to focus on his recovery from a stroke in August 2020.
Astro – whose real name was Terence Oswald Wilson – passed away in November 2021 at the age of 64 after a “very short illness”. He played percussion, trumpet and sang and rapped in UB40.
Margate Summer Series brings a huge run of shows to UK’s popular seaside destination and hosts a variety of artists from a wide range of genres including Rock, Soul, Disco, Electronic, Drum n Bass and more.

The Swedish folk duo – consisting of sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg – are joining a world-class line-up for the 2023 event taking place at Crystal Palace Bowl.
‘South Facing Festival’ is London’s biggest outdoor concert series that debuted in 2021 and includes some of the biggest names in music from across all genres including; rap, indie, rock, pop, classic and more.

OHMYGOSSIP — Mick Fleetwood believes that Fleetwood Mac is “done” following the death of Christine McVie.
The singer-and-keyboardist died in hospital in November, aged 79, following a brief illness, and the 75-year-old drummer admits he cannot even contemplate stepping foot on stage again under the Fleetwood Mac name in the wake of his friend’s passing.
Speaking to the LA Times at the Grammy Awards at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday night (05.02.23), he said: “I think right now, I truly think the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris.
“I’d say we’re done, but then we’ve all said that before. It’s sort of unthinkable right now.”
Mick though insists he is not done with playing music and he intends to copy the former and current members of the band – which includes – Stevie Nicks, Mike Campbell, Neil Finn and Lindsey Buckingham – and seek out new projects.
The sticksman – who is also joined in Fleetwood Mac by bassist John McVie, who was once married to Christine – added: “They all get out and play, so I’m gonna be doing the same thing, finding people to play with. Anyone out there?”
Mick, 75, teamed up with Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow to honour Christine at the Grammy Awards.
The trio performed the Fleetwood Mac hit ‘Songbird’ – which was written and sung by Christine – and the rock icon admitted he was delighted to be able to make “a lot of fuss” about his late bandmate.
He said: “I think it’s a moment to accolade the wonder of a hugely talented, lovely, unsuspecting lady known as Christine McVie.
“There is a lot of fuss, but we are really happy to be making a fuss of her.
“It’s double edged – it comes with a celebration and a quiet prayer that contains some sadness of loss. But having it be able to come to life with this lovely lady [Sheryl], and Bonnie, is a beautiful thing for me to see happen.”

The 30-year-old singer is celebrating her single topping the Billboard Hot 100 charts for the third week in a row, and she shared outtakes from the song’s music video on social media alongside a message for her fans.
She tweeted: “Flowers is spending [its] 3rd week at #1 [and] as magical as this moment feels I know it doesn’t happen by chance.
“This song [and] it’s success represents the power of YOU! This is your moment [and] it’s my honor to be the messenger.

OHMYGOSSIP — Linkin Park are to release a previously unheard track which will feature their late singer Chester Bennington’s vocals.
The group will drop track ‘Lost’ from the days of their second studio album ‘Meteora’, which was recorded in 2002 and released in 2003, and the tune features the voice of the late star, who passed away aged 41 in 2017.
Linkin Park shared an 18-second clip of the song and wrote on Twitter: “”Lost,” a new, never-before-heard song from the Meteora archives. Out Friday, February 10th. (sic)”
In the teaser video, Chester can be heard singing: “‘Cause when I’m alone … I’m lost in these memories, living behind my own illusion.”
The group have been inactive since a tribute concert for their late frontman in October 2017, entitled Linkin Park and Friends: Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington.
In May, Linkin Park told fans they will start communicating with them “a little more regularly”.
In a statement posted on Instagram, they said: “Two decades in and our LP community continues to inspire us.
“Your passion and dedication is the lifeblood of what we’ve built together with you. And it doesn’t go unnoticed.
“We thought it was about time to begin sharing a little more regularly with you.
“Starting this month, we’ll be putting (digital) pen to (digital) paper to share NOTES FROM THE BAND-tiny snapshots into our daily misadventures, from us each month.
“There’s no concrete plan, but that’s what we like about it. Until then…

It came after band co-founder Mike Shinoda updated fans on the status of the band in April 2022, insisting while they talk “every few weeks”, there are no plans “in the pipeline” for new music or a tour.
He explained: “The only Linkin Park news I have for you is that… Yeah, we talk every few weeks – I talk to the guys, or some of the guys.
“And there’s no tours, there’s no music, there’s no albums in the pipeline. Okay, so let me just tell you that. So just keep in your minds that that is not happening.
“I’m just gonna say that much for now. I say that because anytime the band says anything or does anything, everyone tries to start up the hype train, and we’re, like, ‘No, no, no, no. Don’t start up the hype train.’
“You’re gonna disappoint yourself. Don’t do that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX has joked that she was snubbed by the Grammys because they don’t want to see “hot evil girls thrive”.
The ‘Used To Know Me’ singer compared failing to get a nomination for her album ‘Crash’ at Sunday’s (05.02.23) ceremony to Mia Goth being overlooked for an Oscar for her 2022 slasher film ‘Pearl’.
She tweeted: “me not being nominated for a grammy for crash is like mia goth not being nominated for an oscar for pearl and only further proves that people don’t wanna see hot evil girls thrive (sic)”
In 2018, the ‘Boom Clap’ hitmaker blasted the Recording Academy’s then-president’s defence of the lack of female representation at the Grammys.
The chart-topping star took to Twitter to vent her anger against Neil Portnow, who previously spoke to Variety about the relative lack of female nominees.
He explained: “It has to begin with … women who have the creativity in their hearts and souls, who want to be musicians, who want to be engineers, producers, and want to be part of the industry on the executive level.
“(They need) to step up because I think they would be welcome.”
But his comments sparked fury from some of the industry’s biggest names, including Charli.
The songwriter – whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison – tweeted at the time: “Ugh bout 2 step up on 2 ur face
“Women are making AMAZING music right now wtf is this dude talking about ????? (sic)”
Pink was another of the big-name acts that addressed the issue.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old star previously admitted she feels like an “outsider” in the music industry.
Charli tweeted: “i feel like outside of my fans I don’t really provide people with the opportunity to feel much ownership over me or my decisions, which is maybe why i have a sort of outsider status within pop music and also experience rejection from the “industry” side of music sometimes (sic).”
And she added: “i always give my collaborators credit. my producers/mixers/artists I collaborate with etc. i have never once pretended I am solely responsible for the songs I release – but I also recognize that none of my art would be the same or even possible without my own vision and talent (sic).”

The Welsh music legend was already confirmed to play the iconic seaside amusement park, Dreamland Margate, in Kent, South East England, on July 28, and due to phenomenal demand, he’ll now perform on July 27 as well.

OHMYGOSSIP — Gaz Coombes was “nervous” about reuniting Supergrass after the success of his solo albums.
The frontman’s solo records have been critically acclaimed, with his 2015 record ‘Matador’ even nominated for the Mercury Prize, and he did have some trepidation about reforming the ‘Alright’ band in 2019, as he thought it would be a “backward step”.
However, Gaz proved himself wrong as he managed to continue his solo career and make success of the Supergrass reunion, simultaneously.
Speaking to Classic Pop magazine, he admitted: “Yes, I was anxious about that.
“Having got into a flow and the last two albums having done so well, it seemed a bit odd, like a backward step. But then I was confident that I could operate both things together and it seems that I did, because I was obviously writing this record mainly during the reunion so.
I feel like I made best use of both things.”
Gaz recently admitted he left Supergrass as it had stopped making him happy.
The 46-year-old singer-songwriter said he needed to find joy again in music as a solo artist once he left the band, which announced in 2010 they were splitting due to creative differences.
He said: “I didn’t leave Supergrass to go solo. I left because I wasn’t enjoying it, and it wasn’t making me happy. So I needed to get myself happy.”
He added about launching his solo career: “I realised that just because I wasn’t in the band didn’t mean I was going to stop.”
Gaz said about his first solo record, 2012’s ‘Here Comes the Bombs’: “It was transitional, there was definitely a hangover from Supergrass.”
The musician released his fourth solo LP ‘Turn the Car Around’ earlier this month, the follow-up to 2018’s ‘World’s Strongest Man’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay Z will perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (05.02.23).
The 53-year-old rapper is set to take to the stage for an all-star performance of ‘God Did’, alongside DJ Khaled and featured guests artists Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, John Legend and Fridayy, Variety reports.
‘God Did’ has been nominated for three awards, including Song of the Year.
Harry Styles, Bad Bunny, Mary J. Blige, Brandi Carlile, Luke Combs, Steve Lacy, Lizzo and Sam Smith with Kim Petras have all been previously announced as performers.
Kacey Musgraves will pay homage to the late Loretta Lynn with ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’; Sheryl Crow, Mick Fleetwood and Bonnie Raitt will perform ‘Songbird’ in memory of Christine McVie and Maverick City Music and Quavo will perform ‘Without You’ as a tribute to late rapper Takeoff.
Meanwhile, host Trevor Noah says he is excited to return as MC because there is a “magic” to awards shows.
He said: “I still think there is a magic in award shows that we can often take for granted because of how ubiquitous media has become. I don’t take it for granted – it’s a room of amazing people who are doing phenomenal things, and you can see in their eyes how much this means to people who maybe have dreamed of it for their entire lives.”
And, executive producer Ben Winston has some surprises planned.
He said: “There’s a couple of things. I’d like to get some of the performances introduced by people that matter to the person – I think it’s really lovely when person goes onstage, and they thank some people for winning that Grammy. And I always wonder about that person, and what does that person think about the success that their friend or their colleague or their old student or sibling has had. I think we can learn a little bit more about that performer from the people that are closest to them. And I think we’re going to feature some fans and talk about why music matters to them and why they love the albums they love and the artists they love as we build toward Album of the Year.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Bruce Springsteen fanzine Backstreets will shut down after 43 years.
The periodical, which has been covering the singer and his E Street Band since 1980, is set to shutter due to disillusionment over Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing model and what has been described as a “fan freeze out”.
Publisher and editor-in-chief Christopher Phillips wrote in an editorial: “After 43 years of publishing in one form or another, by fans for fans of Bruce Springsteen, it’s with mixed emotions that we announce Backstreets has reached the end of the road.
“We are immensely proud of the work Backstreets has done, and we are forever grateful to the worldwide community of fellow fans who have contributed to and supported our efforts all these years, but we know our time has come.
“If you read the editorial Backstreets published last summer in the aftermath of the U.S. ticket sales, you have a sense of where our heads and hearts have been: dispirited, downhearted, and, yes, disillusioned. It’s not a feeling we’re at all accustomed to while anticipating a new Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tour…
“There’s no denying that the new ticket price range has in and of itself been a determining factor in our outlook as the 2023 tour approached — certainly in terms of the experience that hardcore fans have been accustomed to for, as Springsteen noted, 49 years. Six months after the onsales, we still faced this three-part predicament: These are concerts that we can hardly afford; that many of our readers cannot afford; and that a good portion of our readership has lost interest in as a result.”
Bruce previously defended ticket prices for his tours and insisted they were competitive.
He said: “So this tour, we said ‘Hey, the guys are in their 70s. I’m 73. Do what everybody else is doing who are my peers. They basically went out and there were a variety of things being done and that’s what they did. Most of my tickets are totally affordable. There is a very high range.

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Mercury nailed the high notes on ‘The Show Must Go On’ in just a few takes after downing neat vodkas.
Queen’s late frontman – who died in 1991 from AIDS-related complications – was struggling “a lot” with his declining health when he surprised guitarist Brian May by giving his “finest performance of all time” when they recorded the hit in 1990.
He recalled: “So I presented it all to him the next time he turned up in the studio, and by that time he was suffering a lot. He could hardly stand. I played him some of the demo, with me singing, which went incredibly high and was very difficult.
In the past, Freddie was always shouting at me, like, ‘It’s too f****** high! You’re making me ruin my beautiful voice!’ So I thought he was going to shout at me this time. But he just heard it and said, I’ll f****** do that. Don’t worry.’ So he downed a couple of vodkas, neat, then propped himself up on the desk and worked his way through singing all of that song. And it was amazing.”
Brian added to Total Guitar magazine: “I think he did three or four takes, and he absolutely smashed that vocal. It’s like he reached into a place that even he’d never got to before. I remember saying to Freddie, ‘I don’t want you to hurt yourself. You know, don’t force yourself to do this if it’s not going to feel good.’ But he said, ‘I’ll f****** do it, Brian!’ And he did. And it was beautiful. I think it’s one of his finest performances of all time. It’s incredible.”
Brian and Freddie’s sister Kash are often asked why Queen carries on without Freddie, but they both believe he wouldn’t have wanted the band’s music to just become “museum pieces”.
He told the publication: “You know, I often have this conversation with Freddie’s sister, Kash.
“She gets those questions as well; ‘Why are they doing this without Freddie?’ And she completely gets what we’re doing. She says, ‘This is what Freddie would have wanted. He would not want have wanted his songs or the band’s songs to become museum pieces. He would have wanted them to live.’ And that’s what we’re doing. We make the Queen legacy live. Absolutely.”

He continued: “The last tour we did was fantastic.
“Probably the biggest arena tour we’ve ever done, and the most exciting in terms of all the shows being sold out and the energy in those audiences. The thing is, people want live music. They need live music. And we’re happy to go on supplying it as long as we can.
“As long as I’m alive, I’ll be there!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessie J is planning her pop comeback.
The ‘Price Tag’ singer, who is expecting her first child, is filming a documentary that will chronicle her return to music as she becomes a mother.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Jessie’s determined not to let her pregnancy prevent her from relaunching her career.
“The documentary will see Jessie discuss everything from pregnancy, miscarriage, health problems, heartbreak and love life to her fall from public favour and planned comeback.”
Jessie has taken a step back from the spotlight in recent years amid a series of flop records and health problems, although she is set to play the 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London later this month with a TV crew in tow. She is currently working on a new album and a world tour is set to follow in 2024.
The star, who is dating basketball player Chanan Colman, revealed that she was pregnant recently – just 13 months after she suffered a devastating miscarriage – and admitted that her mind “hasn’t fully processed” the happy news.
The 34-year-old pop star wrote on her Instagram Story: “As I lay here (2am) can’t sleep.
“Thinking about today and the overwhelming amount of love and support I am feeling. I can’t help but think about all the women and men still struggling with loss and infertility.
“It feels so strange to be on this side after being told I would never get pregnant, to pregnancy loss to then being pregnant and how quickly it is all happening.
“My mind hasn’t fully processed that it’s actually happening some days which is why I kept it quiet for so long.
“The anxiety in the beginning was overwhelming and I felt like I had my eyes closed just hoping it all would continue to go well. Which in moments I still very much have whilst allowing myself to feel the joy and celebration of this experience.
“I don’t even know what my point is tbh. (sic)”
