OHMYGOSSIP — Gladys Knight is set to open Hampton Court Palace Festival.
The ‘Midnight Train to Georgia’ hitmaker will top the bill at the annual summer series of spectacular open-air concerts at the royal landmark on June 6.
The show will be a London exclusive for the 78-year-old Grammy-winning star – who shot to fame as a member of the Motown group Gladys Knight and the Pips – as part of ‘The Empress of Soul Farewell Tour’.
Tickets go on general sale from Wednesday 5 April, with an exclusive pre-sale to e-mail subscribers from today (04.04.23) via hamptoncourtpalacefestival.com.
Sir Tom Jones, Soft Cell and Kool and The Gang are also set to play the festival.
Welsh music legend Tom will top the bill on June 14, synth-pop pioneers Soft Cell – comprising Marc Almond and David Ball – headline on June 7, and funk and soul legends Kool and The Gang on June 9.
Grace Jones, Kaiser Chiefs, Bjorn Again and Rick Astley were among the first acts confirmed to play the event.
The ‘I Predict a Riot’ hitmakers headline on June 10, the ABBA parody act are set for June 16, and ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ hitmaker Rick Astley will perform on June 17.
Artists perform in an intimate 3,000-seat auditorium in Base Court, set against the backdrop of Henry VIII’s magnificent Tudor Palace and attendees can enjoy picnics, drinks and street food in the Palace Gardens, whilst waterside gazebos are also available to purchase for those that want to sit back and relax in luxury.
Last year, the likes of George Benson, Jack Savoretti, Crowded House, and Kacey Musgraves wowed at HCP Festival.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kygo has released a remix of Sir Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson’s 1993 hit ‘Say Say Say’.
The Norwegian DJ and music producer – who is set to headline London’s Gunnersbury Park on August 12 to mark the release of his album ‘Thrill of the Chase’ – has added his house production to the Beatles legend and late King of Pop’s vocals.
He said in a statement: “I’m absolutely honoured to work on a song that was made by two of the greatest musical legends of all time.
“Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson have meant so much to me as an artist and I’ve been listening to their music since I was a kid.
“It’s been a dream of mine to collaborate alongside these iconic artists, and hope everyone enjoys the song as much as I do.”
‘Say Say Say’ was released as the lead single to McCartney’s 1983 album ‘Pipes of Peace’ and produced by Beatles producer George Martin.
The song was recorded during the production of the 80-year-old music legend’s 1982 LP ‘Tug of War’.
The year before, the ‘Let it Be’ hitmaker and the ‘Billie Jean’ hitmaker – who died in 2009 aged 50 from acute propofol intoxication – duetted on ‘The Girl Is Mine’ from Michaels’ iconic 1982 album ‘Thriller’.
Kygo, 31, is no stranger to remixing music legends, having remade Tina Turner’s classic ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ in 2020.
Meanwhile, Kygo previously admitted he is hoping a collaboration with Coldplay is on the cards after getting into the recording studio with their frontman Chris Martin.
He told PEOPLE last year: “I’ve actually been in the studio with Chris Martin, who’s definitely one of my favourite artists of all time, a dream for me. Just being in the studio and jamming with him was definitely a very cool experience.
“Definitely, Coldplay would be great. So hopefully we’ll get a song together.
“The Weeknd has been on top of my list for a while as well, so I think Coldplay and The Weeknd would be top two dream collabs right now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dannii Minogue felt “overwhelmed” when she released ‘Neon Nights.’
The 51-year-old pop star had already released ‘ Love and Kisses’, ‘Get Into You’ and ‘Girl’ when it came to launching her fourth studio album in 2003, and although she found it “hard” to find the time to enjoy the album because of the heavy promotion involved, she can now think about that period of time fondly.
She said: “When I first released ‘Neon Nights’ I was overwhelmed. I was running around promoting and it was hard to catch a moment to enjoy it all — but even then, I knew that one day I’d be able to look back on it all, and I’d be able to think: ‘Wow. What a time!’”
In honour of the record’s 20th anniversary, the ‘I Begin to Wonder’ hitmaker – who is the younger sister of ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ legend Kylie Minogue – has decided to re-release the album as a deluxe edition along with a range of new merchandise and will be giving away five signed test pressings away at random.
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, she said: “You can order the album and other ‘Neon Nights’ goodies, plus I have signed five test pressings of the album which are going to be going out with random orders. I begin to wonder who those lucky, lucky, lucky people will be!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Ellis has teamed up with Sir Brian May for a new single.
The 43-year-old musical theatre actress has worked with Queen legend Brian, 75, multiple times over the years after he first spotted her in the ensemble of ‘My Fair Lady’ in 2002 and is “delighted” that he has collaborated with her once more on new single ‘Battlefield’ from her upcoming album ‘Kings and Queens.’
She said: “I wanted this album and these songs to speak to people and make them feel something, in the same way that music affects me, and this song definitely pulls at the heart strings. And I’m delighted it features my dear friend, the Doc!”
Kerry – who since originating the role of Meat in Queen jukebox musical ‘We Will Rock You’ in 2002 has become known as one of the biggest stars of West End with leading roles in ‘Wicked’, ‘Oliver!’ and ‘Cats’ – will hit the road in May to celebrate the release of her fourth studio album, following on from the success of ‘Anthems’, ‘Kerry Ellis’ and ‘Feels Like Home.’
The musical theatre superstar will share the stage with the London Show Choir when the show hits the Adelphi Theatre, and in Manchester and Birmingham will have the support of Sing Space Choir.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Cure have cancelled over 7,000 tickets to their US tour in a bid to tackle touts.
Frontman Robert Smith has been vocal about his desire for fans to see the group’s show without paying inflated prices while also restricting ticket transfers in markets where he was legally allowed to do so in places like New York, Illinois, and Colorado – which have all enacted legislation protecting resellers – and now he’s confirmed listings on secondary resale sites have been blocked.
He tweeted on Friday (31.03.23) night: “Approx 7k tickets across approx 2200 orders have been cancelled. These are tickets acquired with fake accounts / listed on secondary resale sites. TM have identified specific locations from secondary postings.(sic)”
He urged fans who felt their orders had been “wrongly cancelled” to contact Ticketmaster customer services.
Earlier in the day, he had warned ticket buyers not to try and “get around” transferring rules or also face cancellations.
He wrote: “OFFERING TO SELL/SEND ACCOUNT LOGIN DETAILS TO GET AROUND TM TRANSFER LIMITATIONS… ANY/ALL TICKETS OBTAINED IN THIS WAY WILL BE CANCELED, AND ORIGINAL FEES PAID ON THOSE TICKETS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
“..ORIGINAL FEES PAID ON THOSE TICKETS WILL BE DONATED TO AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL, AND THE TICKETS THEMSELVES WILL BE RESOLD TO FANS.(sic)”
Earlier this month, fans secured partial refunds after the ‘Lovecats’ singer said he was “sickened” by the inflated fees being charged by Ticketmaster, with some gig-goers claiming the add-on was more than the ticket price itself.
He wrote: “I am sickened as you all are by today’s Ticketmaster fees debacle. To be clear: the artist has no way to limit them. I have been asking how they are justified. If I get anything coherent by way of an answer I will let you all know.”
Robert also took aim at the company’s dynamic pricing strategy which changes the cost of tickets according to demand, branding it “a scam”.
He added: “We didn’t agree to the ‘dynamic pricing’/’price surging’/’platinum ticket’ thing … because it is itself a bit of a scam? A separate conversation.”
However, Ticketmaster bosses seemingly heeded Smith’s complaints and the veteran rocker later confirmed many fans would be getting some of their money back.
He added: “After further conversation, Ticketmaster have agreed with us that many of the fees being charged were unduly high, and as a gesture of goodwill have offered a $10 per ticket refund to all verified fan accounts for lowest ticket price (‘ltp’) transactions.
“And a $5 ticket refund to all verified fan accounts for all other ticket price transactions, for all Cure shows at all venues; if you already bought a ticket you will get an automatic refund. All tickets on sale tomorrow will incur lower fees.”
The Cure will kick off their 2023 North American dates on May 10 in New Orleans, Louisiana and conclude the trek on July 1 in Miami, Florida.

OHMYGOSSIP — Stormzy has handpicked the support acts for his only UK festival date of the year.
The grime star is headlining All Points East in London’s Victoria Park on August 18 and he has been given the chance to curate the line-up for the hometown show – turning it into his own ‘This Is What We Mean Day’ by bringing onboard artists including Kehlani, Sampha, Knucks and Lucky Daye as well as WSTRN and Ms Banks.
Stormzy announced his plan to curate his own day in a video posted on Instagram, explaining: “I was thinking what’s next, cos we’ve done 3 O2s [London’s O2 Arena], shut that down.
“I said to the team, we gotta do something bigger, something better, something different. We were having back to back meetings, bouncing ideas. Then it hit me, I started jotting down ideas thinking – live band, need a live band. August 2023, a summer time thing, outside, for the people, always for my people. So August 2023, Victoria Park, more info coming soon …. ‘This Is What We Mean Day’. Hard.”
More acts are yet to be announced for Stormzy’s special festival day and tickets are already on general sale.
All Points East will also feature a headline performance from The Strokes on August 25 while rock trio HAIM will play the festival on Bank Holiday Monday August 28. Electronic act Jungle will headline on Saturday August 26 and they will be joined by singer Erykah Badu and many more acts.
The 2022 event featured sets from artists including Gorillaz, The Chemical Brothers, Tame Impala, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds and Idles.

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Combs would feel “weird” charging fans to meet him.
The award-winning country star believes passionately in keeping his ticket prices affordable and he admitted he wouldn’t be comfortable asking people to pay to attend meet-and-greet events at his shows because it’s not something he’d have been able to afford to do himself before he found fame.
He told Billboard: “I’ve always just felt really weird about, like, charging people to meet me. Maybe that’s just me feeling like, ‘Well, it’s not worth it.’…
“I just want to meet people who came to the show, whether it’s their first show or their 50th show. It’s like people who would have never gotten the chance to meet me or could never have afforded it. Because I couldn’t have afforded that growing up.”
When Luke didn’t even have a record deal in 2015, he and his manager launched a private Facebook group for his fans, who are affectionately known as ‘The Bootleggers’ and the members, of which there are now more than 175,000, can enter a meet-and-greet giveaway on the 33-year-old star’s website, with 25 people per show chosen at random so the singer gets to see a “real representation of who is there”.
The ‘Beautiful Crazy’ hitmaker’s manager, Chris Kappy, recalled how he turned down a $5,000 offer from a banker who wanted to meet Luke at his show.
He said: “That’s not the type of people we want.
“[I told him] I’d rather have the guy who can barely afford to come to the show because that’s more of a real fan than you wanting a picture with Luke for your Instagram.”
The ”Love You Anyway’ singer insisted he never looks to see how much money he can make from his fans.
He said: “I always want my fans to understand that I’ve never made any decisions based off how much money I can get out of them.
“It already costs so much to do anything, right? I want them to love the music and feel like they saw a great show that someone put a lot of f****** thought into and did it at a price that was affordable to them.”

The 25-year-old pop star has revealed that the album ‘The Diary of Alicia Keys’ was the first record she ever bought and is hopeful of getting the chance to create music with the Grammy-winning star.
Raye told Rebecca Judd on Apple Music 1: “She was my first album I ever bought. I remember combing through these songs, digesting them, flicking through her artwork. It was ‘The Diary of Alicia Keys’. Like reading all the lyrics and all her notes, and being so moved by her artistry.
“I think that the dream would be one day to sit down at a piano with her and create something.”
The ‘Escapism’ singer is also keen to work with Doja Cat and has admiration for the ‘Say So’ hitmaker’s carefree approach.
Raye explained: “Her styling is on point and she doesn’t give a f***. And her TikTok content is so brilliant.
“I need to take a leaf out of her book when it comes to just not caring what anyone thinks because I rate it and I need that ability. She is just a top-tier artist – vocals, delivery, syncopation, dance. And she really can throw it back, like wow.
“She’s someone I respect so highly. That’s one of my dream collaborations right there.”
Raye became an independent artist after parting ways with record label Polydor in 2021 and wants to have total control over her music releases.
She said: “I have made a promise and a pledge to myself, I am not ever trying to feel like major label-y with any of this stuff ever again. I just want to post what I want to do, because I want to do it, not because someone’s told me I have to. And this is the truth.
“In my opinion, you cannot make something viral on your own. You just can’t. I just believe that. So that’s just out of the question. If it happens, it happens.
“If someone wants to use it as a sound, that’s great. That’s none of my business, do you know what I mean?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Icona Pop wrote their first new album in 10 years when they were bored during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo dropped a new single called ”I Want You’ in February and they are preparing to return to the charts with their first new album since 2013’s ‘This Is … Icona Pop ‘ – and they have revealed the new music came about because they were stuck at home in Sweden during the coronavirus pandemic and the “weird” situation stirred their creativity.
Aino told RETROPOP magazine: “We’ve been touring for so many years and we’ve been trying to write music, then when we left LA and went back to Sweden before the lockdown started we were super bored and we ended up in the same studio where we wrote our first songs.”
Caroline added: “We were also scared. What was gonna happen with our career? Would we ever be able to stand on stage again? Or travel? It was such a weird time … ”
During the pandemic, the ‘I Love It’ duo kept themselves and their fans entertained by hosting ‘rave spa’ livestreams online and Caroline insists their lockdown DJ sessions inspired their new music.
She explained: “We’d be doing sheet masks and DJing in robes. Just really fun things so we were still connected with our fans, which influenced us when we started writing. We said, ‘OK – let’s go in, have no rules, and see where we end up.’ And it’s pretty cool that during the most quiet times of our lives, we wrote our clubbiest songs ever!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi fears he may have to quit music.
The 26-year-old singer/songwriter admitted there is a “very real possibility” he will have to step back from his career as a pop star if his Tourette’s syndrome gets worse.
He told The Times newspaper: “It’s only making music that does this to me, otherwise I can be fine for months at a time, so it’s a weird situation.
“Right now, the trade-off is worth it, but if it gets to a point where I’m doing irreparable damage to myself, I’ll quit.
“I hate hyperbole but it is a very real possibility that I will have to pack music in.”
Lewis has previously spoken about how performing makes the tics, which are caused by his Tourette’s syndrome, even worse.
According to footage from his upcoming Netflix documentary ‘How I’m Feeling Now’, which was obtained by the Daily Star newspaper, Lewis said: “The twitches became out of control it was awful, absolutely horrific. I started to get in my head about it, you know these pressures about things. Rather than just me singing my silly little songs other people are depending on me.’
“My twitch gets worse when I sit down to play piano, physically painful. And I get really short of breath and it’s like my back f****** kills me when I go to do it.
“It feels like I’m going insane. Completely disconnected from reality.
“I can’t breathe. I get dizzy. I’m sweating, my whole body starts convulsing. Either I feel like I’m going to be stuck with it forever or I’m going to die.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Donny Osmond wants to collaborate with Justin Bieber.
The 65-year-old singer – who found fame with his family group The Osmonds and had his first solo hit at 14 – would love to work with former child star Justin on a new single.
He told The Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I’d love to do something with Justin because of the similarities between our two careers. But that all depends on whether the planets align.”
Donny has previously warned about the perils of the showbiz industry for youngsters.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It all depends on the parents. I started at five and I think I handled it well. But I had a great family. It’s a treacherous world if you just throw your child out there and let him go about his own business without any restrictions. It messes with a kid’s head.”
Meanwhile, Justin, 29, recently made a deal with Hipgnosis Songs Capital to sell all of his publishing rights, as well as artist royalties from his master recordings.
Universal Music Group will continue to own the recorded music copyrights to Justin’s works in perpetuity.

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain and Jelly Roll were among the winners at the CMT Music Awards 2023.
The country pop legend gave an empowering speech at the ceremony at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on Sunday (02.04.23), in which she slammed the “industry standard” for doing “a real disservice” to the “rich history” of the genre.
She began her speech by noting that she never imagined her 1997 classic ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’ would become “an undercurrent of a decades-long career.”
The 57-year-old star went on: “It’s amazing how just one statement can empower so many. And ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’ has been adopted by an array of fantastic communities all around the world and become such a genuine path of power, which brings me so much joy.
“Thank you to CMT for pushing the Equal Play agenda and always supporting me.”
The ‘You’re Still the One’ hitmaker insists there is still much work to be done for there to be an “equal workspace for all talent” no matter what their background.
She continued: “I believe in an all-inclusive country music.
“This is a genre of music with a rich history that raised and nurtured my own songwriting and performance and recording career from childhood. Currently, the industry standard does a real disservice to this.”
Shania is bringing out rising stars such as Hailey Whitters and Robyn Ottolini on her ‘Queen of Me’ tour and vowed to continue to be a “trailblazer”.
She added: “My hope is this opportunity and spotlight impresses you much and lights up the careers of these very talented people on their journey.
“I will continue to do my best as a trailblazer. Together, let’s ensure all our fellow artists get equal play regardless of gender, age, or race.”
The bash, which was hosted by Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini, saw the former make history as he and his wife, Katelyn, became the first married couple to win Video of the Year for ‘Thank God’.
Jelly Roll – whose real name is Jason DeFord – was the most awarded act of the night, taking home all three of the prizes he was nominated for.
The 38-year-old star’s popular track ‘Son Of A Sinner’ won Male Video of the Year, Breakthrough Male Video of the Year and CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year.
He also took to the stage backed by a gospel choir for an electrifying performance of ‘Need a Favor’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Seymour Stein has died at the age of 81.
The music executive – who was behind the careers of acts such as Depeche Mode and the Ramones through Sire Records – was the first person to sign global superstar Madonna when she was an unknown in 1983 but passed away on Sunday (02.04.23) following a battle with cancer, his daughter Mandy confirmed to Variety.
She told the outlet: “I grew up surrounded by music. I didn’t have the most conventional upbringing, but I wouldn’t change my life and my relationship with my dad for anything, and he was a loving and caring grandfather who took pleasure in every moment with his three granddaughters. He gave me the ultimate soundtrack, as well as his wicked sense of humor. I am beyond grateful for every minute our family spent with him, and that the music he brought to the world impacted so many people’s lives in a positive way.”
Seymour – whose late wife Linda passed away in 2007 – started out in the music industry as a teenager when he began submitting reviews to Billboard magazine before segueing into the recording side of the industry at King Records in his twenties.
In 1966, Seymour was approached by producer-songwriter Richard Gottehrer to create Sire Records together, and although their first few years were commercially poor, the duo later achieved success in the 1970s when they signed rock band Talking Heads.
In the early 1980s, Seymour was recovering from heart surgery when he heard a demo of ‘Everybody’ by a then-unknown Madonna and after signing the nightclub singer to his label, saw six of her albums achieve multi-platinum status with more than 10 million records sold.
In the 1990s, other signings onto the label included former Beach Boys frontman Brian Wilson, Canadian country/pop vocalist k.d. lang and although Seymour was not a songwriter, he was honoured by the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2016 with the Howie Richmond Hitmaker award two years before his retirement.

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles fans going to his upcoming concerts will be able to keep the vibe going at the ‘Love On Tour Aftershow Party’, brought to you by Harry’s House Party.
Harry’s House Party – the creators of the original Harry Styles and One Direction club night – are well-known for their epic Harry Styles and One Direction bashes, having held numerous sold-out nights in both the UK and Australia, and they will be hosting several events when the ‘As It Was’ hitmaker brings his ‘Love On Tour’ shows to the UK.
Kicking off on 22 May, 2023, the ‘Love On Tour Aftershow Party’ will follow each of Harry’s 11 concerts across the UK starting at JJ’s in Coventry and continuing onto Edinburgh, London and Cardiff.

OHMYGOSSIP — Guns N’ Roses will be joined by The Pretenders, The Darkness and Larkin Poe at their American Express presents BST Hyde Park show.
The hard rock band – which consists of frontman Axl Rose, guitarists Slash, Duff McKagan, Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese -are due to take to the stage at the London venue on 30 June and have today (30.03.23) announced that they will be joined by 1970s band The Pretenders as well as 2000s rockers The Darkness and Nashville-based Larkin Poe.
As well as the ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ hitmakers, rock fans can catch P!NK (24 + 25 June), Take That (1 July), BLACKPINK (2 July) Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (6 + 8 July) and Billy Joel (7 July) on the BST Hyde Park billing for 2023, all to celebrate the 10th anniversary of American Express presents BST Hyde Park.
The summertime event was launched by The Rolling Stones in 2013 when they recreated their 1969 gig and in the years since has seen acts such as Carole King, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Adele, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Robbie Williams, Black Sabbath, Take That, Kylie Minogue, The Who, Blur, Kendrick Lamar, The Strokes all take to the stage at the outdoor venue.
Reflecting on her own appearance, Pink – who recently scored a number one album with comeback record ‘Trustfall – said: “It’s been a long three years and I’ve missed live music so so much…. So it’s finally time! I am so excited to get back to the UK and Europe to sing, cry, sweat and make new memories with my friends.

OHMYGOSSIP — LFO co-founder Brian “Brizz” Gillis has died aged 47.
Brian’s former bandmate Brad Fischetti – who also co-founded the 90s boy band – admitted he is “struggling to process” his pal’s passing.
He wrote on Instagram: “Every story is made up of chapters. Some develop naturally. Some you have to cut up in your mind. The first two chapters of the LFO story lost a main character yesterday. Brian ‘Brizz’ Gillis passed away. I don’t have details and it wouldn’t be my place to share them if I did. I am really struggling to process this tragic loss. I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it; the LFO Story is a tragedy. If you know what I’ve been doing, you know I’m trying to bring light into the darkness. Trying find redemption in pain and suffering. Trying to honor the legacy. (sic)”
Brad admitted he had a “complex” relationship with Brian – who was in LFO from 1995 to 1999 – but he will now “lean on” the positive aspects of their friendship.
He wrote: “Today I honor my former bandmate and friend, Brizz. If you watched the LFO Story livestream or have seen the band and me play it live, you know what Brian meant to LFO. If it wasn’t for his hard work and dedication in the early days of LFO, the first two chapters, the LFO you came to know and (hopefully) love would not exist.
“My relationship with Brian was complex. It contained moments of great tribulation but also of great joy. I learned a lot from him about the business of music and how to put together and rock a show. And it’s those positive aspects of our relationship that I will lean on now and forever.
“I’ve prayed for Brian every day for many years. And I will continue to pray for him, for his beloved father, for his friends, his family, and those who loved him. Special prayers for Pistol Pete and Terry Edwards; two men who hold a special place in my heart and undoubtedly held a special place in Brian’s heart. (sic)”
Brad now hopes Brian is making music in a different place with late LFO co-founder Rich Cronin, who passed away in 2010 aged 36 from leukaemia, and Devin Lima, who replaced Brian in the group and passed away in 2018 aged 41.
He added: “I know that soon or maybe already, Brizz will be greeted by Rich and Devin. And I hope that together, they will make some sweet sounds. I would really like that.
“Rest east bro. Rest easy. (sic)”
