OHMYGOSSIP — Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer is not a fan of the music they’ve made since he left the rock band.
The 43-year-old musician was in the group from 2009 to 2019 and recorded two albums ‘I’m with You’ and ‘The Getaway’, plus the B-sides compilation ‘I’m Beside You’ with them. He replaced John Frusciante, who has since returned.
And Josh has now confessed that he thinks they were making “cooler music” when he was in the band and admitted he was “shocked” by their latest album, 2022’s ‘Return Of The Dream Canteen’, which he was unable to finish, and didn’t think much of ‘Unlimited Love’, which was also released last year.
Appearing on the Brazilian podcast ‘5 Notas’, Josh said: “I don’t think I finished [listening to] the second [2022 album, ‘Return Of The Dream Canteen’].
“I was trying to cram it in once before leaving on a plane, and I got as far as maybe the ninth song, and I don’t think I listened to the rest.”
He continued: “It’s tough [listening to their new music], only because I honestly think we were doing cooler music.
“I never want to sound negative about anyone doing music, but I was shocked when I heard their new record.”
Josh and John, 53, teamed up on the joint album ‘A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence’ back in 2004, and while they aren’t as close, the former wouldn’t rule out working together again.
He said: “I feel like it would be fun to play some of those songs again, or play them live – we never played them live.”
Bassist Flea, 60, previously hinted at artistic differences with Josh.
He told NME: “It was a big shift for us, parting ways with Josh.
“He’s been with us for 10 years, and it was an emotionally difficult thing to do. Not only was he a great musician, he was also a thoughtful, supportive team player – a communally-minded, kind and intelligent person.”
He added: “But artistically, in terms of being able to speak the same [musical] language, it was easier working with John. Getting back into a room and starting to play and letting the thing unfold … was really exciting.”

OHMYGOSSIP — 5 Seconds of Summer have announced a new live album and tour.
The pop punk boy band will release ‘The Feeling of Falling Upwards – Live from The Royal Albert Hall’ digitally on April 14.
On stage at the historical London venue last year, vocalist and drummer Ashton Irwin, 28, said: “‘The Feeling of Falling Upwards’ is simply supposed to describe to you the feeling that we have experienced together, the feeling of taking a leap of faith on such a fickle thing like music.
“And sharing this experience together year after year, season after season of our lives.”
The album boasts reimagined versions of songs from their back catalogue, including tracks from their latest fifth studio album ‘5SOS5’, accompanied by a 12-piece string orchestra and a 12-member gospel choir.
Physical formats are available to pre-order now and will be available on July 14.
The ‘Youngblood’ rockers are also set for a huge world tour, including a stop at When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas.
The run includes a date at London’s O2 arena on October 5.

OHMYGOSSIP — Talia Mar’s debut single is a reflection of where she is at mentally.
The 26-year-old singer trained at the famous BRIT School in London – which boasts the likes of Adele, Jessie J, and the late Amy Winehouse as former students – and is breaking onto the music scene with the single ‘Self Portrait, which she describes as an “anthem.”
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I really love it because of the sentiment. It’s an anthem but it has a heartfelt end to it, so you can get the feels. Self-love moments are the most important. That’s where I am right now mentally.”
The South London-born star became known to the public in 2022 when she teamed up with Sigala for the track ‘Stay the Night’ – which featured heavily on the soundtrack to smash hit reality show ‘Love Island’ – but recently described her own music as being a cross between that of country superstar Taylor Swift and pop singer Craig David as she noted that making her chart debut as a solo artist felt like a “dream.”

The 24-year-old pop star released her debut album solo album ‘In Pieces’ at the end of March and has now insisted that she chooses to “ignore” any backlash her music may receive because she is “ordained” by her religious beliefs.
Speaking on Audacy’s ‘V-103’ podcast, she said: “I always just wanna let the music speak for itself. And to be honest, no matter what I do, people always find things to say about it, so I’m used to it. I just choose to ignore it. People have every right to their opinions, freedom of speech, and it’s up to me to choose what I give my attention and energy to. Everything I’m doing is ordained by God, and I’m walking in my purpose, and anybody who has a problem with that can kiss my booty.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Williams says that Paramore bonded over “trauma.”
The 34-year-old singer is best known as the lead vocalist, primary songwriter, and keyboardist of the rock band – which also currently consists of Zac Farro and Taylor York – and took to social media upon the 10th anniversary of their self-titled chart topper on Wednesday (05.04.23) to reflect that it took “a lot of guts” to make the album after Zac left the band for the first time along with his elder brother Josh.
She wrote on Instagram: “10 years ago we put out a record that took a lot of guts and self-determination to make. Mainly because after losing 2 members of the band there was so much discourse around whether or not the band could make anything worthwhile – let alone stay together.
“The story of Paramore has been rife with reality show-style drama. Well, until the last 6 or 7 years. It’s really great to be able to look back from where we are now, knowing the story didn’t end when some said it would.
If all that led to our Self-Titled album hadn’t happened, we’d be the most boring band of all time. If we hadn’t been forced out of our trauma-bonded comfort zones, we would’ve never known what we might be capable of.”
The ‘Misery Business’ hitmaker went on to thank record producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen for his work with the band after that period for allowing them to “expand” their repertoire before also thanking the fans for “accepting” a different version of Paramore as they continued to release hit albums.
She added: “Thank you Justin Meldal-Johnsen for expanding our musical vocabulary and believing we could be more than a band from one specific scene. And thank you Carlos de la Garza for engineering the shit out of the album. Thank you Ken Andrews of Failure for mixing it, singing backups on it, and being a musical hero to us.
Taylor and I wrote these songs having no idea if people would accept a reformed, more liberated version of Paramore. Our fans not only accepted but championed our rebirth. Thank you for allowing us the room for creative risk and for keeping this story going.

OHMYGOSSIP — Linkin Park were unsure whether they wanted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their second album.
The rock band – which currently consists of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon, Joe Hahn, and Dave Farrell – released their debut album ‘Hybrid Theory’ in 2000 but enjoyed greater success with their sophomore album ‘Meteora’ in 2003 and are celebrating the anniversary with a re-issue but co-founder Mike explained that he was hesitant to do so in case it came across like they were “milking it.”
Speaking on Apple Music 1, he told Zane Lowe: “Part of the reason that this 20th anniversary thing came together… from my perspective, when the question was asked, like should we do a 20th anniversary package for the second album, I was like, ‘I don’t know,” like, “I don’t want to feel like I’m milking this thing.’ The album was the album and everybody knows the story. But we started to uncover the stuff that hadn’t been released. And one of the great things about it was we made a point starting mid-Hybrid Theory, because of some of the things people were saying, was well…Well, “they just don’t know”.
However, the ‘Somewhere I Belong’ hitmaker went on to explain that the new version of the album which is being relased as a deluxe edition featuring unreleased songs, demos, and b-sides – is like a time capsule because of how techology has changed since the early 2000s.
He added: “The only problem is that they don’t know. So let’s show them… Let’s help them know. And so we brought our… Dave’s childhood friend, Mark out on the road with us. He was like filming everything. We were capturing more stuff. And so that’s why the ‘Meteora’ 20 package is what it is, because we started capturing everything. It’s like other bands weren’t really filming everything at the time. Filming wasn’t super easy. You didn’t have camera phones.
“We may have started from maybe of a defensive kind of position, but it quickly became something else. The idea of work in progress became one of the themes of the album. It’s like, yeah, we are a work in progress. Our music is a work in progress. All the stuff that we’re making, we were aware, maybe in 10 years we won’t love it as much as we do right now, but we love it right now. So let’s just show people what we’re doing.”
‘Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition’ is due for release on April 7.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sugababes are to perform the half-time show at Twickenham Stadium for England Women’s rugby match.
The reunited ‘Push the Button’ hitmakers – which comprises original members Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena, and Siobhan Donaghy – will play the 82,000 seater sports venue in south west London during the halftime show at the Red Roses v France TikTok Women’s Six Nations fixture on 29 April where they will perform some of their biggest hits ahead of their UK tour from May to July.
In a statement, the girls said: “We’re honoured to come and perform at Twickenham Stadium as part of this huge occasion and can’t wait to get everyone up and dancing at half-time, as well as cheering the amazing Red Roses as they take on France.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Goulding’s upcoming album is her “least personal yet”.
The ‘Let It Die’ singer – who became a first-time mum to son Arthur, whom she has with her husband Caspar Jopling, in April 2021 – has admitted it was a huge weight off her shoulders not having to write songs about her personal life for ‘Higher Than Heaven’ because she “feels things very deeply”.
She told Rolling Stone: “In the best possible way, this album wasn’t taken from personal experiences, and it was such a relief and really refreshing to not be sitting in the studio going through all the things that happened to me and affected me. Because I feel things very deeply. I always have.
“It’s the least personal album, but I think it’s the best album because I got to just explore other things about myself. I just really, really enjoy writing, really enjoy being a singer.”
The ‘Miracle’ hitmaker – who releases her follow-up to 2020’s ‘Brightest Blue’ on Friday (07.04.23) – has been open about her battles with anxiety and mental health in the past.
She wrote in an Instagram post: “If I was to really think about it, my anxiety has dictated quite a lot of my life and career, and I feel sad about that.
“But it has also made me who I am, and sometimes at my most terrified, when I feel there is no escape from the sheer panic and dread in my heart and brain, I remind myself that I can feel.”
Meanwhile, becoming a mother has transformed the pop star’s life.
The ‘Love Me Like You Do’ hitmaker told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “I had a child and that changes everything. It did for me anyway.

“I realised that I didn’t factor in how much I wanted to spend time with him, how much I wanted to just be around him all the time. So that became my new life and it is my new life and he is the biggest thing in my world. And it has changed everything for me.”
So far, Ellie, 36, doesn’t believe her son has influenced her songwriting. However, she expects it to happen in the coming months and years.

The music legend made her live debut at the CMT Music Awards at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on Sunday night (02.04.23), performing her 1995 hit ‘You Oughta Know’ with Ingrid Andress, Lainey Wilson, Madeline Edwards and Morgan Wade.
Shania, 57, was also at the bash to collect her Equal Play Award, and Alanis, 48, said she wanted to make a beeline for her peer.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’ on the red carpet: “I’ll just pounce on her.”
Gushing over the collaborative performance, she added: “Anytime I can support women expressing themselves, and feeling safe in a world that isn’t always the safest.

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift says she’s getting “tricksy” by throwing in different surprise songs at each show on her ‘Eras Tour’.
The pop megastar has promised fans not one single show will be the same on her current jaunt.
Speaking on stage at her gig in Arlington, Texas, last Friday (31.03.23), she said: “Let one thing be said about the Eras Tour.
“You think you can just go online, you think you can just scroll and know the setlist? You think you can just come prepared with your little flashcards in your pockets. ‘I know what’s next. I know what she wears next. I know what she sings next.”
She added: “Let it be said about the Eras Tour, we’re tricksy.
“That’s what we are. We enjoy a good, healthy setlist hijinks.”
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Grammy winner recently made a young fan’s day when she signed a letter the little girl had written to her.
Concert-goer Gina Lanzino revealed that her seven-year-old daughter had written a note to the ‘Love Story’ hitmaker and passed it to an usher in the hopes of getting it to Taylor, but was doubtful that it would be a possibility.
Speaking in a video posted to TikTok, Gina said: “Okay, quick little story time. Me and my daughter went to the ‘Eras’ tour, I got the t-shirt. My daughter is seven years old. So she writes this letter, it says ‘Dear Taylor, I’m your biggest fan. My favorite colour is… what’s yours?’ She drew a little picture and she says, ‘I’m gonna bring this to the show and make sure that Taylor gets this letter. I was kinda like, ‘I don’t really think that’s going to happen, but let’s try.’
“So she brought the letter and as soon as we got into the stadium, there was a guy standing there in a suit, probably just an usher. She says to him, ‘Hey, I have this letter for Taylor. Can you make sure it gets to her?’ He kinda chuckled, and we smiled and he said, ‘I’ll see what I can do, I’ll try really hard.’ And she was happy with that, and I figured that would be the last we would hear of this letter.”
Gina went on to reveal that halfway through the concert, four men in suits who appeared to be part of the tour’s team arrived at their section in the stadium looking for the little girl because Taylor had signed the letter herself and wanted to give it back to Bella.
Gina added: “We were about halfway through the show when some people came to our box and they were asking for Bella. I had actually forgot about the letter by that time, and I said, ‘That’s my daughter, what’s going on?’ And they say, ‘We wanted to give this to you,’ and it was the letter Bella gave to Taylor and she [Taylor] signed it. She [Bella] did write her section number on the back, but I really didn’t ever in a million years think that this was going to get returned to her. They filmed my daughter getting the letter back because they wanted to pass it back to Taylor!
“It was just super awesome that Taylor took the time to do that in her crazy busy night.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Mercury’s “daring” leather hotpants are being sold for £10,000.
The late Queen frontman – who died aged 45 in 1991 from AIDS-related complications – donned the skin-tight black leather pants during the encore of a concert in Birmingham in December 1980 in a bid to “shock” the crowd.
Now, fans have a chance to own the hotpants, which will go under the hammer at Omega Auctions in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, on April 25.
Jacky Gunn, the head of the Queen Fan Club, said of the risqué garment in Queen’s official biography ‘Queen: As it Began’: “They didn’t leave much to the imagination, but no one complained.”
Omega’s Dan Hampson commented: “They typify his daring look.”
The ‘We Will Rock You’ hitmaker had a penchant for leather and would often perform topless with a pair of leather trousers.

The 31-year-old pop star shot to fame alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall as part of ‘X Factor’ winning girl group in 2011 but quit the group in 2020 to deal with personal issues and after teaming up with rap star Nicki Minaj to release ‘Boyz’ the following year, is now gearing up to release her second single ‘Bad Thing.’

A further post made by the ‘Shout Out to My Ex’ hitmaker was a video featuring a pair of neon orange shoes moving slowly in time with a piece of classical music.

OHMYGOSSIP — Tears for Fears have scheduled a North American tour a year after they were forced to cancel a slew of dates on their 2022 trek.
The band are returning to the road for a series of shows across the US and Canada over the summer – 12 months after their ‘The Tipping Point World Tour’ was cut short because bandmember Curt Smith fractured four of his ribs in an accident.
The band will be supported by Cold War Kids on the new tour which kicks off on June 23 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and heads to cities including New York, Toronto, Houston and Seattle before concluding in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl on August 2.
Tears for Fears released their first new album in 17 years – ‘The Tipping Point’ – in February 2022 and they later headed out on the road for a supporting tour that summer.
They managed to perform across the US but the UK leg of the tour faltered in July as Smith struggled to perform after injuring himself.
They axed 11 dates and Smith told his followers the injury had left him struggling to sing because of the pain. He also shared an X-ray which showed four of his ribs were fractured and he needed to rest and recover so he could heal.
After cancelling the shows, Smith posted on Twitter: “Thank you for the outpouring of get well messages!! I’m so disappointed. The last week has been horribly depressing, not knowing why the pain wasn’t subsiding and knowing everyone has been waiting to hear. It took a trip to London an ultrasound to finally see the clear fracture …
“The good news is that I now know and it will heal. As you’ll see – eventually it was pretty obvious why I was in so much pain. Again – thank you so much for understanding and caring!!!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dermot Kennedy is the final artist confirmed to headline All Points East 2023.
The ‘Outnumbered’ hitmaker will top the bill at London’s Victoria Park on August 27, with support from SG Lewis, Olivia Dean, James Vincent McMorrow, Nick Mulvey, Novo Amor, Moncrieff, Rachel Chinouriri and Áine Deane.
And the 31-year-old star has promised festival-goers his set will be “on another level” as he makes his return to the festival four years after playing the main stage.
In a statement, he said: “I remember playing the main stage at All Points East back in 2019 just before my debut album came out … It’s surreal to me how much has happened over the past four years since then and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported me on this journey. This headline show is going to be on another level and I’m honoured to be headlining this year alongside legendary artists The Strokes, HAIM, Stormzy and Jungle. See you in Victoria Park!”

Haim, The Strokes and Jungle will headline their own days at the summer series, which takes place between August 18 and 25.
The multi-day event will kick off with a headline performance from London’s finest, Stormzy.
The rapper has curated the bill on August 18 to celebrate the release of his acclaimed 2022 LP, ‘This Is What I Mean’.
The 2022 event featured sets from artists including Gorillaz, The Chemical Brothers, Tame Impala, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds and Idles.

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie’s manager has claimed they “tried and failed” to resurrect Ziggy Stardust for a comeback tour.
The late music icon famously bid farewell to his alien rock star alter ego at his concert at London’s Hammersmith Odeon in 1973.
However, it was always his intention to make a comeback as Ziggy, according to Bowie’s manager Tony Defries, who said they tried to launch a revival tour.
Speaking to MOJO magazine, Defries said: “Basically, I think success wasn’t the ideal situation for David.
“When [1973 album] ‘Aladdin Sane’ was selling enormous quantities and crowds were shutting down railway stations, just to get a glance of him, I think that’s when it all began to sink in, that he was no longer an ordinary person. The Ziggy effect was taking hold and he couldn’t cope with it, really.”
The ‘Life on Mars’ hitmaker was inspired by Frank Sinatra, who had quit music before announcing his return after just two years a few years earlier.
He explained: “David was a big Sinatra fan. Making the comeback is the key thing.”
Defries added: “We tried and failed to get promoters in America to book [a Bowie / Ziggy Stardust comeback tour] into large arenas as a headliner. So, that was a real reason for retiring Ziggy, to be honest with you … nothing to do with music or style or anything else.”
Video games designer Phil Campbell also previously claimed Bowie wanted to relaunch Ziggy in Space.
The pair worked together on the 1999 game ‘Omikron: The Nomad Soul’, which Bowie scored.
Speaking to The Mirror in 2020, Campbell said: “We talked about buying up a bunch of old satellites that were circling the Earth and he was going to relaunch Ziggy from space.
“The idea was that Ziggy would beam us transmissions – ‘Are you receiving me…?’”
Bowie died in 2016 at the age of 69, following a private battle with liver cancer.
