OHMYGOSSIP — Arctic Monkeys have axed their Dublin concert tonight (20.06.23) as Alex Turner has “acute laryngitis”, just days before their headline slot at Glastonbury.
The indie rock group have been forced to pull out of their show at the Irish city’s Marley Park as the 37-year-old frontman needs to get in plenty of vocal rest to recover.
A social media statement posted on Sunday (19.06.23) read: “We are extremely sorry to announce the cancellation of Arctic Monkeys’ show at Marley Park in Dublin Tomorrow.
“Alex and the band apologise for the huge disappointment this will inevitably cause to all their Irish fans. Full refunds will be credited back to the ticket purchaser’s account by Ticketmaster within the next six working days.”
At the time of writing, the band are still scheduled to top the bill on the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm on Friday (23.06.23).
Meanwhile, Pulp and Hozier are reportedly playing secret sets at the Woodsies stage – formerly the John Peel Stage.
The Britpop legends are said to be taking to the stage at 6pm on Saturday (24.06.23), while the ‘Take Me To Church’ hitmaker’s set is to take place from 7.30pm on Friday (23.06.23).
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Every year Glastonbury likes to keep fans on their toes and this year is no different.
“Both Pulp and Hozier have signed up to play the festival ages ago but bosses decided to keep their names under wraps.
“Neither have played the farm for a while so no doubt their sets will be extra-special.”
The Foo Fighters are also said to be performing as The Churnups after the mystery band name appeared on the stage times.
Glastonbury takes place from June 21 to June 25 in Somerset, South West England.
Guns N’ Roses are headlining on Saturday (24.06.23), and Sir Elton John closes the festival on Sunday (25.06.23).
Cat Stevens/Yusef is playing the Sunday afternoon teatime slot reserved for music legends.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue would jump at the chance to collaborate with Madonna.
The Princess of Pop, 55, and The Queen of Pop, 64, are yet to duet together, but the ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ hitmaker says she is open to the idea and joked that they would have to give plenty of “warning” about the two icons being in the same building together.
Speaking to New York’s 1035KTU radio station, Kylie said of collaborating with Madonna: “I would. Of course, I would! She’s going on tour. I don’t have Madonna’s number but if I was in town and she was in town it would be amazing. The building would probably fall down. We’d need to send our warnings!”
Kylie is currently revelling in the success of her latest single, ‘Padam Padam’, which could be set to enter the Oxford English Dictionary and was recently used during a Pride Month speech by an MP at Parliament.
Since the release of the dance anthem, Oxford University Press – the publisher of the English dictionary – is said to have been inundated with requests to add Padam, which is the word to describe the beating of the heart, to the resource.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Loads of fans have been contacting the Oxford English Dictionary about actually getting the word ‘Padam’ added.
“Kylie joked about it in an interview recently but now people have taken it upon themselves to make it happen.
“It has entered her fans’ vocabulary and they want to make it official.”
The ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ hitmaker recently gushed that she is “bursting with joy” over the success of ‘Padam Padam.’
The Australian singer – who became the first female artist to score a UK Number 1 album in five consecutive decades with the release of her last record ‘Disco’ in 2020 – returned to the charts with the lead single from her forthcoming album ‘Tension’ and thanked fans for the reaction as she celebrated her 55th birthday on May 28.
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, she said: “I just wanted to say thank you, thank you so so much for all the birthday messages and the ‘Padam’ reaction and the love, it has been an incredible week topped off by being my birthday today and I can’t thank you enough. My heart is bursting with joy so thank you so so much!”
Meanwhile, Kylie has hinted at embarking on a tour.

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn Mendes was left “speechless” before he performed onstage for the first time in more than a year at Ed Sheeran’s Toronto concert at the weekend.
The Canadian musician surprised fans when he duetted with the Grammy winner on his 2011 classic ‘Lego House’ followed by Shawn’s 2017 mega-hit ‘There’s Nothin’ Holding Me Back’ at the Rogers Centre on Saturday night (18.06.23).
Ed, 32, shared a clip of the pair backstage before the show on his Instagram as they prepared for Shawn’s first gig in “a year and a half.”
Shawn confessed: “I feel a bit speechless about it, to be honest right now.
“Dude, I feel insane. I feel crazy.”
It’s not the first time the pals have duetted.
They previously teamed up to perform ‘Mercy’ during Shawn’s ‘Illuminate Tour’ in 2017.
The 24-year-old pop star cancelled his ‘Wonder: The World Tour’ last July in order to focus on his mental health.
And he recently admitted he’s since transformed his life by putting some strict boundaries in place.
He explained to the Wall Street Journal: “Understanding how setting boundaries does not make you an unkind person has really changed my life. And also understanding that it’s not easy to do. It’s a difficult thing to do. It feels uncomfortable.
“It makes other people feel a little uncomfortable for a moment, but ultimately it’s a very powerful and helpful thing to do for every relationship. So yeah, boundary-setting is not mean, it’s actually very important. It’s very kind, actually.”
Shawn has also revealed that he’s started to use ice baths “six times a week” and cannot get enough of the method for calming the body’s nervous system.
He said: “I mean, listen, I’m kind of crazy when it comes to the ice baths.
“I have one, so I do it a lot. I do it probably five, six times a week. I know it’s a lot, but people who know me know that when I get on something that I like for the first little bit, I can be a little bit obsessive.”
Announcing the cancellation of his tour for the sake of his mental well-being, Shawn said at the time: “I know you all have been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to tell you this but I promise I will be back as soon as I’ve taken the right time to heal. I love you all and thank you all so much for supporting me and sticking by me on this journey.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Grammys has updated its guidelines to make any works created solely using AI not eligible for awards.
The Recording Academy will not recognise work that “contains no human authorship” in any category.
However, the academy decided that songs containing elements of AI would be considered, as long as they also have “meaningful contributions” from a human.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. commented: “If there’s an AI voice singing the song or AI instrumentation, we’ll consider it. But in a songwriting-based category, it has to have been mostly written by a human. The same goes for performance categories—only a human performer can be considered for a Grammy.
“At this point, we are going to allow AI music and content to be submitted, but the Grammys will only be allowed to go to human creators who have contributed creatively in the appropriate categories.”
What’s more, to win the prestigious Album of the Year prize, the creator, be it a featured artist, credited artist, songwriter, producer, and so on, must have contributed a minimum of 20 per cent of the work across the LP.
The update to the rules comes amid a rise in AI-generated music, with even Sir Paul McCartney set to reunite with the late John Lennon on the final Beatles song, thanks to the technology.
The surviving member of the legendary rock’n’roll group revealed they used artificial intelligence (AI) on an old demo to extract Lennon’s vocals.
McCartney, 81, told BBC Radio 4’s ‘Today’ show: “We just finished it up and it’ll be released this year.”
The music legend didn’t name the song, but according to reports, it’s said to be ‘Now and Then’.
The same method was used in Peter Jackson’s 2021 three-part Beatles documentary ‘Get Back’.
McCartney admits that AI is “kind of scary”.
However, he added: “It’s the future. We’ll just have to see where that leads.”
The Beatles’ final song will be shared with the world later this year, with a firm release date yet to be announced.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rick Astley has announced his first album in five years, ‘Are We There Yet?’.
The follow-up to 2018’s ‘Beautiful Life’ is set for release on October 6, and Rick, 57, has given fans a taste of what’s to come with the sun-kissed lead single, ‘Dippin My Feet’, which is out now on all streaming platforms.
Rick said of the album’s cryptic title: “Now, that phrase has multiple meanings. Are we there yet in my musical ambitions? Am I done with my career? Have we arrived? Or are we still travelling?”
The collection is inspired by the 80s pop legend’s love of soul legends Bill Withers, Al Green and Marvin Gaye.
He added of the lead single: “It’s not Americana, but the tag-line at the start of the chorus is: ‘Dipping my feet in the Mississippi River…’ It’s definitely not country, but I’ve never twanged a guitar as much as I have in the past couple of months. And there’s a bit more emotion with those guitar parts. I just think spending five months in America has retuned my ear a little bit.”
The ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ hitmaker – who is playing Glastonbury this weekend – has also announced a UK tour for 2023 and 2024, including two nights at London’s legendary Royal Albert Hall this November.
Fans who pre-order the album by 7pm tonight (20.06.23) will receive access to a pre-sale for tour tickets. OHMYGOSSIP — Professor Green leads a raft of new names added to the Kendall Calling bill.
The ‘Read All About It’ hitmaker will be playing the main stage when the festival sets up camp in Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District from 27-30 July, with the likes of Sonique, Daytime TV, ARXX, Deco, Chinchilla, CVC and Bandit also added to the line-up.
As well as Professor Green, Scottish alt-rockers Daytime TV have also landed a main stage slot, while Parklands will see Sonique, ARXX, Rhythm of the 90s, Jimmy the Gent and Deco perform for the crowds.
The Calling Out stage – which plays host to up and coming talents from around the world – will feature the likes of Katy J Pearson, Connie Constance, Stone, Will Joseph Cook. Deadletter, CVC, Bandit, Overpass, Crystal Tides, Wunderhorse, Matilda Mann, Chinchilla, and Bedroom High Club, as well as a Saturday headline slot from Circa Waves.
News of the new additions came at the same time as organisers confirmed the day splits for each stage.
This year’s headliners are Nile Rodgers and CHIC, Kasabian, Royal Blood and Blossoms.
Nile – who last performed at the festival with CHIC in 2019 – previously said: “The last time we played Kendall Calling was epic and one of my favourite shows ever. We are excited to be back this year for more good times!”
Kaiser Chiefs, Rick Astley, Happy Mondays, Frank Turner, Example and more are also on the bill.
Festival Co-Founders Andy Smith and Ben Robinson said: “After an absolutely stunning festival last year, we cannot wait to get back in those fields! With Kasabian, Royal Blood, Blossoms, Nile Rodgers and CHIC, Kaiser Chiefs, Rick Astley, Annie Mac – the line-up is looking absolutely stacked. All we need now is a bit of sun and we’ve got the perfect weekend!”
Tim Burgess – who is best known as the frontman of The Charlatans – is set to play a special solo set and his Tim Peaks Diner is poised to play host to some more secret sets.
He said: “Kendal Calling has always been a favourite of The Charlatans – and even more so as Tim Peaks has been there since 2012 and I’ve felt like part of the family. Looking forward to heading back there in July, got me a solo gig, some listening parties, a DJ set and maybe a couple of surprises too.”
The festival returned last year after a two-year hiatus owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2022 edition featured headline performances from Supergrass, Stereophonics and Bastille.

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Goldfrapp has revealed rapper Tricky was actually “tricky” to work with.
The former Goldfrapp frontwoman added her vocals to the former Massive Attack star’s track ‘Pumpkin’ from his 1995 LP ‘Maxinquaye’, and though she didn’t say why he was difficult, she said it was an “intense” experience.
The ‘Ooh La La’ hitmaker recalled to Electronic Sound magazine: “I sent him this cassette of things I’d been doing.
“I sent him something with my voice completely slowed down, which he liked.”
Asked what it was like in the studio with 55-year-old Tricky – whose real name is Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws – she replied: “He’s a total character. Really Interesting.
He introduced me to lots of amazing music and, you know, opened up another door for me. And he could be proper tricky!
I mean, yeah, he is intense. I’ve seen him live since I was working with him and he’s incredible to watch. He’s definitely followed his own path.”
The 57-year-old singer – who is now a solo artist and released her debut solo LP ‘The Love Invention’ in May – also had a stint as Bryan Ferry’s backing singer and seeing him do his signature dance moves and sing in front of her left her “really nervous and wobbly” at the feet.
She said: “Bryan was like, ‘I’ve got this tune… and we could do this and we could do that…’. I was like, ‘Er, yeah, OK’. Then he stood in front of me and started singing and doing those moves that he does… and I was all, ‘Oh my god! It’s fucking Bryan Ferry!:
It was like I’d suddenly realized it was actually him and I was completely starstruck. I became really nervous and wobbly and I couldn’t talk. I remember being stunned by what a beautiful voice he has. Hearing it in that room with no effects and seeing those moves…”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has confirmed that a ‘Chromatica Ball’ film is on the way.
The 37-year-old star revealed that a concert film for ‘The Chromatica Ball Tour’ is currently being edited and she can’t wait for fans to see it.
In a long and detailed note to fans on Instagram, she wrote: “I wanted to share a more personal moment with you today, I know I haven’t been doing a lot of that lately and some of you are really longing for me to share more of my artistic process. I’ve been experiencing my creativity ever since last summer in a really special and private way—I wrote and produced music for a special project, I prepared for months developing my character for ‘Joker’, I filmed ‘Joker’ for many months (a very introspective time), I have been running my start-up Haus Labs, doing philanthropic work, and additionally have been working on The Chromatica Ball film edit. I can say for the first time in many years that my love of making art, music, fashion, and supporting community has never been more fulfilling. I may not be sharing as much of myself online as I have in the past, but I hope you know this time to myself has been extremely healing and recharging for my heart, mind, body, and creativity—to create within myself and to have a personal life that’s just for me. I’m sure that may feel different because I haven’t always been so private (I bet that will make some of you laugh)—but I LOVE my fans, my little monsters, so much and that will never change. OHMYGOSSIP — Rammstein drummer Christoph Schneider has spoken out about the sexual assault allegations against frontman Till Lindemann.
Lindemann is currently being investigated by prosecutors in Berlin and his bandmate took to social media to share his “personal emotions and thoughts”.
In the message (translated from German), Christoph, 57, said: “Dear people, I would like to share my personal emotions and thoughts with you. The accusations of the last few weeks have deeply shaken us as a band and me as a person. You fans certainly too. I feel as if in shock by the things that have been shared on social media and in the press and in print about our singer. This is an ebb and flow of emotions for us band members and crew.
“No, I don’t think anything criminally relevant (such as the use of knockout drops) happened. No. I don’t think anything illegal was going on, I’ve never seen anything like it, nor heard anything like it from any of our crew of 100 people. All I heard from Till’s parties were adults celebrating together. And yet things seem to have happened that, although legally ok, I personally don’t think are ok.
“Certain structures have grown that went beyond the limits and values of the other band members. It is also important to us that Till’s parties are not confused with our official after-show parties. Till has distanced himself from us in recent years and created his own bubble, with their own people, their own parties, their own projects.
“That made me sad, definitely. I believe Till when he tells us that he always wanted and still wants to give his private guests a good time. How exactly these guests had imagined this, however, seems to differ in some cases from his own ideas. The wishes and expectations of the women who have now come forward were probably not fulfilled. According to their statements, they felt uncomfortable, on the edge of a situation that they could no longer control.
“I feel sorry for her and I feel compassion. However, it is important for me to emphasize something objective: every guest in the backstage area is free to leave (they may have to wait a moment for security to lead them safely to the exit). All bottles are sealed and in full view of the guests freshly opened or they open them themselves.
“We want all of our guests to feel comfortable and safe with us! This is our standard. So I’m sorry to hear that some didn’t feel that way.”
“We have the greatest fans in the world and they all deserve to be treated with respect! I’m sorry for anyone who wasn’t treated kindly or felt unsafe backstage with us.
“I don’t want this whole public dispute about our band to feed the extremes: neither the beast social media, which has not yet been tamed by our society, nor paternalistic tendencies to deny women in their mid-20s the ability to make self-determined decisions about their sexuality and also by no means victim blaming, so that people continue to date to talk about it if something happened to them. I wish for a calm, level-headed reflection and processing, also in our band. And all together, six of us. We stand together.”
Universal Music has halted all marketing and promotion for the band amid the investigation and previously told The New York Times: “The accusations against Till Lindemann have shocked us and we have the greatest respect for the women who have spoken out so courageously in public in this case.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Trent Reznor isn’t interested in touring again.
The Nine Inch Nails frontman is “grateful” for his career and “appreciative” of his fans but admitted the idea of going on the road doesn’t appeal to him any more because he wants to be around for his and wife Mariqueen Maandig’s five children.
Speaking to Rick Rubin on the ‘Tetragrammaton’ podcast, he said: “I don’t want to be away from my kids.
“I don’t want to miss their lives to go do a thing that I’m grateful to be able to do, and I’m appreciative that you’re here to see it, but I’ve done it a lot, you know?
“I kind of want to feel okay and I want to make sure my family’s okay, and that’s great. That’s okay.”
The ‘Head Like a Hole’ hitmaker admitted being a father of five has “radically shaped every bit of who I am and why I do anything,” and explained music has now fallen on his list of priorities.
He said: “The importance of music — or lack of importance of music — in today’s world, from my perspective, is a little defeating.
“Music used to be the thing that was what I was doing when I had time. I was listening to music. I wasn’t doing it in the background while I was doing five other things.”
But elsewhere in the interview, Trent admitted he had “teared up” listening to a Dua Lipa track because it brought home to him the “art of writing a well-crafted song”.
He said: “To me, the hardest thing is the songwriting. Having something to say, something to say with truth, that has reason to exist rather than just a thing.
“I heard my daughter, who’s six, singing Dua Lipa the other day. She is so into it and it is so cool. Like this is her music, you know, this is her thing…
“It really reminded me of the art of writing a well-crafted song — I teared up listening to a Dua Lipa track. Because it was just a really well-done piece of music, you know? It was clever. It felt good.
“It’s a difficult thing to do. I don’t know how to do that. When I’m trying to think of what to say, I’m saying it from the unvarnished me. And that requires me thinking about who I am and where my position is now and all of that together becomes something that feels the stakes are higher.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift will release ‘Cruel Summer’ as her next single.
The 33-year-old singer had initially planned to release the track – which featured on her 2019 album ‘Lover’ – in summer 2020 but her plans changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and after being left “truly perplexed” by the song’s sudden surge in popularity on the streaming charts, the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker has confirmed it is finally getting an official release.
Speaking on stage during her ‘Eras’ show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday (17.06.23) night, Taylor said: “So basically, ‘Cruel Summer’ was on the ‘Lover’ album. That album came out four years ago.
“And I just need to let you know something. ‘Cruel Summer,’ that song was my pride and joy on that album. That was my favourite song. And you know, you have conversations before the album comes out and everyone around weighs in on what they think should be singles and I was finally, finally about to have my favourite song become the single off of ‘Lover’… and I’m not trying to blame the global pandemic that we had, but that is something that happened that stopped ‘Cruel Summer’ from ever being a single.”
Taylor went on to thank her fans for continuing to play her “favourite” song on repeat.
She added: “So what’s happening right now, thanks to you, and honestly, no one understands how this is happening, but you guys have like streamed ‘Cruel Summer’ so much, right now in 2023, that it’s like at the top, it’s rising on the streaming charts so crazy… and my label just decided to make it the next single.
“It’s truly, truly perplexing to me because I just haven’t had something like this happen in my career. So thank you to anyone who has been listening to that song like 500 times a day because that is my favourite one.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Geezer Butler used to cut himself to “get relief” from his depression.
The Black Sabbath bassist-and-lyricist has opened up in great detail about his battle with his mental health over the years, and how he would self-harm so he wouldn’t be focused on his mental state.
In an interview with Uncut magazine about his candid memoir ‘Into the Void: From Birth to Black Sabbath – and Beyond’, he said of his battle with mental illness: “People didn’t understand. You’d go to the doctor and he’d say, ‘Go and have a couple of pints’ or, ‘Go and walk the dog.’ I thought,
‘Well, that’s not going to help me. Nobody talked about it and nobody understood it. I just thought in the end it was a normal thing to be depressed and I started cutting myself to get relief. One day I cut myself so deeply that I couldn’t stop the blood. People used to think I was really moody, but it was when the depression hit me I couldn’t get out of it, I couldn’t talk to people. People used to think I was miserable.”
The Ozzy Osbourne-fronted heavy metal band went on to have a huge hit with ‘Paranoid’, which Geezer penned about mental health, and it wasn’t until a long time after then that he decided to seek treatment and he has been on a number of different medications ever since.
The 73-year-old musician said: “Then I wrote the song ‘Paranoid’ which is all about mental health stuff and it wasn’t until ages after that that I went to the doctor and they gave me pills. I had a mental breakdown, went to a doctor in America and he put me on Prozac. After about six weeks on that, the depression started lifting. I’ve been on various antidepressants ever since.”
The band released the LP ‘Paranoid’ in 1970 and it was a huge success, giving them their first of only two number ones in the UK, along with 2013’s ’13’.
However, even all the money and success couldn’t cure Geezer’s depression.
He said: “I enjoyed the success of the album, absolutely.
“People would say you’ve got all this money coming in, you’ve got a No 1 album, what have you got to be depressed about? It’s like a disease – there’s nothing you can do about it, no matter how much money you’ve got or how happy you are with your job. When you’re in it you don’t think you’re going to get out of it. I’d go into this big black hole. And once you’re in it you can’t remember what normal life was like.
“People used to think if you were depressed, that you were antisocial, miserable.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rudimental will headline The Hundred final.
The ‘Waiting All Night’ hitmakers lead the musical line-up – which is curated in collaboration with BBC Music Introducing – for this year’s cricket tournament, with the likes of Lottery Winners, Asha Gold, Dylan and Prima Queen also set to perform at sports grounds throughout the country during the event, which starts on 1 August.
The award-winning group – who will perform at Lord’s in London on 27 August – said in a statement: “We’re excited to perform at The Hundred Final this year. We’re massive sports fan so we’re looking forward to the match.
“Also, we love that BBC Music Introducing is involved as we’re big supporters of working with emerging talent, so this is a fantastic platform for sports fans to pick up on new music. Looking forward to performing at this great event.”
Previous headliners at The Hundred have been Bastille and Jax Jones, while the likes of Self Esteem, Becky Hill and Everything Everything have also performed, and the players taking part in the tournament are as excited to see the musical acts as they are to play.
Lauren Winfield-Hill, Oval Invincibles star said, “The music last year was amazing, and as winners of the women’s tournament, we were lucky enough to see Bastille perform live at Lord’s.

OHMYGOSSIP — Duff McKagan’s new solo album will feature collaborations with Iggy Pop, Slash and Jerry Cantrell.
The Guns N’ Roses bassist has dropped the title track from his third solo record ‘Lighthouse’, which will be released on October 20th.
Speaking about the central theme of the album, he said in a statement: “The crashing … the cresting waves, the falling through of all that surrounds you.
“Life sometimes tosses us around, and we feel the want of comfort and the pull of home.
“A ship tossed like a toy through the Cape, sails ripped and the wood groaning with the scraping of its ballast … a soul trying with all its might to find peace and a centre.
“Find a lighthouse. I have my lighthouse … its beacon swirling in the darkness with her warmth and promise of nurture, love, laughter, and all that is true. Won’t you be my lighthouse, give me light … and bring me home.”
Duff has also enlisted drummer Abe Laboriel Jr to perform on song ‘Hope’, which features his Guns N’ Roses bandmate Slash.
Iggy teamed up with Duff on song ‘Lighthouse (Reprise)’, and Alice in Chains’ Jerry appears on ‘I Just Don’t Know’.
In May, Duff dropped a new EP to mark Mental Health Awareness Month, and he revealed the title track, ‘This Is The Song’, came to him while he was suffering a panic attack.
He shared in a letter to fans: “This Is The Song was written in the middle of a panic attack. I couldn’t breathe and couldn’t see straight, and lately, I have thankfully found my acoustic guitar as a refuge. If I just hold on to that guitar, play chords, and hum melodies, I can start to climb my way out of that hole. For those of you who have never experienced something like this, count yourselves blessed. To those of you who recognize what I am talking about: YOU ARE NOT ALONE! (sic)”
He sings: “This is the song that’s gonna save my life as I scrape for sanity.”
The EP also featured the tracks ‘Pass You By’ and ‘Can’t Come To Soon’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Black has led tributes to late ex-Urge Overkill drummer Johnny ‘Blackie Onassis’ Rowan.
The alt-rock star – who played drums in the Chicago rock group from the start of the 1990s until 1996 – died aged 57 on Tuesday (13.06.23), his spokesperson confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.
His cause of death has not been disclosed.
A social media statement from the band read: “Urge Overkill is saddened to report that Blackie has passed away. Please respect our privacy at this time. We are sending much love to his family and all his fans. We know he will be missed.”
The band later shared a selfie of their former bandmate with Hollywood actor and Tenacious D rocker Jack Black and wrote: “Thank you for the love and support today. We wanted to share this photo of Blackie, we hope you like it as much as we do.”
In the comments section, Jack paid a touching tribute to the musician, writing: “Loved Blackie. ‘Supersonic Storybook’. ‘Saturation’. ‘Exit the Dragon’. Some of my favourite albums of all time! He was a wild card and a force of nature. Gonna miss him.”
Blackie first appeared on their 1991 LP ‘The Supersonic Storybook’.
The same year, the group supported grunge legends Nirvana on their ‘Nevermind’ tour.
They’d go on to sign to Geffen Records a year later, and released their major label debut, ‘Saturation’, in 1993.
The singles ‘Sister Havana’ and ‘Positive Bleeding’ were the closest they got to a mainstream hit.
Their cover of Neil Diamond’s ‘Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon’ was famously featured in Quentin Tarantino’s iconic 1994 film ‘Pulp Fiction’.
The musician was arrested for heroin possession after the band released 1994’s ‘Exit the Dragon’, and he left the group two years later.
Urge Overkill reunited in 2004, without Blackie.
The current members are Nash Kato, Eddie ‘King’ Roeser, Nate Arling, and Adam Arling.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue’s ‘Padam Padam’ could be added to the Oxford English Dictionary.
Since the release of the pop icon’s latest tune, Oxford University Press – the publisher of the English dictionary – is said to have been inundated with requests to add Padam, which is the word to describe the beating of the heart, to the resource.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Loads of fans have been contacting the Oxford English Dictionary about actually getting the word ‘Padam’ added.
“Kylie joked about it in an interview recently but now people have taken it upon themselves to make it happen.
“It has entered her fans’ vocabulary and they want to make it official.”
The ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ hitmaker recently gushed that she is “bursting with joy” over the success of ‘Padam Padam.’
The Australian singer – who became the first female artist to score a UK Number 1 album in five consecutive decades with the release of her last record ‘Disco’ in 2020 – returned to the charts with the lead single from her forthcoming album ‘Tension’ and thanked fans for the reaction as she celebrated her 55th birthday on May 28.
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, she said: “I just wanted to say thank you, thank you so so much for all the birthday messages and the ‘Padam’ reaction and the love, it has been an incredible week topped off by being my birthday today and I can’t thank you enough. My heart is bursting with joy so thank you so so much!”
‘Tension’ is set for release on September 22.
Meanwhile, Kylie has hinted at embarking on a tour.
She told ‘Heart Breakfast’: “I would love to…. we’re looking into dates currently so hopefully I can make that happen.”
