Jungkook’s Seven is fastest song to hit one billion Spotify streams

OHMYGOSSIP — Jungkook’s song ‘Seven’ has become the fastest track to hit one billion streams on Spotify.
The BTS singer’s debut solo single, released in collaboration with rapper Latto, reached the milestone just 108 days after its release and surpassed Miley Cyrus’ hit ‘Flowers’ – which took 112 days to hit the billion mark when it was released earlier this year.
The streaming giant posted on X, the site formerly known as Twitter: “On October 30, Jung Kook’s ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’ became the fastest song to reach 1 Billion streams in Spotify history.”
Jungkook – who is releasing his album ‘Golden’ later this week – first teased that the record was “on its way” last month.
During an interview with Audacy, he was asked: “What is next for you looking to the end of 2023?”
Jungkook answered: “My solo album… My solo album is on its way.”
In the same chat, the 26-year-old star gave insight into how he prepared to go into the studio with Jack Harlow on the follow-up single ‘3D’.
He said: “Back in the day when I was a trainee, I listened to a lot of songs to prepare for our work. When I started working on this song, I got the sense that it could really appeal to people who know early 2000s music. There’s a sense of nostalgia. But I also felt it could also appeal to younger people with its sophisticated feel, and that kind of direction felt right to me. I also paid close attention to the pronunciation, the feel of the lyrics, and overall content so that I could bring that feeling to life.”

Kelly Clarkson suffered mortifying wardrobe malfunction in Since U Been Gone music video

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Clarkson ripped her pants while going commando for her ‘Since U Been Gone’ music video.
The 41-year-old singer suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction while shooting the video for her 2010 single and joked she flashed “a lot of moon” to the drummer.
In an outtake from Tuesday’s (31.10.23) episode of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, she said: “That happened to me on a music video.
“The director was like, ‘Can you go down?’ I was in really tight leather pants in the ‘Since U Been Gone’ video and he was like, ‘Go down and pop back up’ and I was like, ‘OK, cool.’
“And I went down and just, ‘Whoop!’ And I was commando.”
Her guest Kyle Richards – who was worried about her own mishap as she dressed in leather as a black cat for the Halloween special – jokingly asked if the embarrassing moment was “on tape”.
Kelly laughed: “The drummer, I was like, ‘Oh s*** that’s a lot of moon, man. I’m sorry.’ ”
‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Kyle sparked the memory by commenting on how “tight” her bodysuit was on the talk show.
She quipped: “I basically feel like I have one big Spanx on from the ankle to the neck.
“And I haven’t sat in them until I got here. So if you hear a loud noise… [it ripped]. I will cover myself with a pillow.”
Meanwhile, Kelly recently revealed she accidentally snubbed Mariah Carey when the pop icon made a 2018 appearance on ‘The Voice’ as an adviser.
Having regretted her “stupid” gaffe ever since, Kelly hopes she’ll get a second chance at a potential collaboration.
Speaking on ‘The Tonight Show’, Kelly said: “She knows I adore her because I’ve run into her several times, and she’s probably got me on some security list to keep me away.
“I did something stupid… She came on ‘The Voice’, and we were working together, and sometimes I say everything that’s in my brain, and I shouldn’t do that.”
The ‘Stronger’ hitmaker recalled how they complimented one another’s songwriting abilities but when Mariah suggested they pen something together, Kelly accidentally turned her down.
She laughed: “I walked away, and my friends were like, ‘Do you realise you just told Mariah Carey ‘No?’
“That’s not what I meant. I meant the best writing for me does not come out in that scenario. I’m usually alone. Any time you see my name on a song, I wrote it, usually, alone.”

Dua Lipa teases comeback single Houdini

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa is set to release her comeback single, ‘Houdini’, later this month.
The Grammy-winning pop star has been dropping cryptic clues across her social media and fans finally cracked the code.
On Halloween (31.10.23), which just so happens to be the date of the famous magician Houdini’s death, she shared a preview of the new track, in which she sings: “Tell me all the ways you’ll need me.”
At the end of the clip, the numbers 4 8 9 9 14 15 21 flash up on the screen, and if you swap them for their letters it translates into Houdini.
The track will be the lead single from Dua’s upcoming follow-up to 2020’s dance record ‘Future Nostalgia’.
This year, Dua landed a huge hit with ‘Dance The Night’ from the live-action ‘Barbie’ film.
It was recently claimed that the ‘Levitating’ singer is to ditch her disco pop era in favour of music informed by “1970s-era psychedelia”.
A New York Times Style magazine profile on the 28-year-old singer claimed the ‘Physical’ hitmaker has reinvented her sound and is getting help from psychedelic act Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.
Asked if the rumour is true, she coyly replied: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
The profile noted: “She doesn’t want to “alienate” them [her fans], although she’s developing a new sound that may be informed less by the house and disco beats beneath songs like ‘Physical’ and ‘Hallucinate’ than by 1970s-era psychedelia.”
Producer Mark Ronson – who oversaw the ‘Barbie’ soundtrack – heard parts of the record and teased it’s going to be a whole new era for Dua.
He told Vulture: “I’ve heard some of it and it’s incredible.”
Referencing the music video for ‘Dance The Night’, he suggested that one key moment could be a big hint of what’s to come.
He added: “I think that’s why there’s the disco ball that smashes in the video, right?
“This feels like her triumphant stomp on that era of her music into whatever she does next.”

Ronan Keating thinks it was a MISTAKE to carry on with Boyzone without Stephen Gateley

OHMYGOSSIP — Ronan Keating thinks it was a “mistake” for Boyzone to carry on without the late Stephen Gateley.
The ‘Picture of You’ hitmakers formed in 1993 and enjoyed chart success before splitting in 1999 and reforming in 2007, and while time after the reunion saw the group experience what was “probably the best time in the band”, tragedy struck in 2009 when the singer died from a heart condition aged just 33.
And Ronan admitted he thinks the band – which also included Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham – should have called it a day for good then because things “never felt the same again”.
Speaking on the Magic radio special ‘When Harriet met Ronan – 30 years of Boyzone’ – which airs on Sunday (29.10.23) at 5.30pm – he said: “For me that was the end of the band all together and we probably should have just called it a day then, but we thought the right thing to do was to carry on in Stephen’s memory.
“For me a mistake. The band never felt the same again. It always felt like something was missing.”
The 46-year-old singer believes the group would have stayed together if Stephen hadn’t passed away, but thinks they’d have had more frequent breaks to embark on solo ventures.
He said: “I would say we wouldn’t have broken up, but I think we probably would have navigated things differently. We would have taken gaps, breaks, come back. Stephen and I enjoyed singing together I know that much so we would have done something. I think Boyzone would have continued.”
The ‘Life Is a Rollercoaster’ hitmaker admitted he and his bandmates still haven’t got over Stephen’s death but they are thankful they will always have their music to remember him by.
He reflected: “What makes me sad and hurt more than anything is he had so much living to do, and he had so much to enjoy.
“I remember something that stays with me more than anything is Stephen really loved Disney and he was really excited about seeing ‘The Princess and the Frog’ and he never got to see it. The movie came out a couple of weeks after he passed away and I couldn’t watch the movie. I still haven’t been able to watch it to this day…
“None of us have gotten over it but at least we have the songs.”

Miley Cyrus wants Billie Eilish collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus wants to work with Billie Eilish.
The ‘Flowers’ hitmaker is “in awe” of the 21-year-old singer and thinks it is “impressive” that she knows exactly who she is and the artist she wants to be at such a young age.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, Miley said: “I absolutely love Billie Eilish… she’s one of the coolest artists out there at the moment.
“What impressed me so much is that she is already an authentic artist. She knows exactly the story she wants to tell and exactly the message she wants to express in her work. I’m in total awe of her.
“When I was her age, I didn’t know who I was as an artist and was still being heavily influenced by others. But she knows exactly who she is and it is just so impressive.”
Though Miley and Billie haven’t had “conversations” about working together, the 30-year-old star admitted the ‘bad guy’ singer is at the top of her wish list.
She added: “When I think of all the artists out there at the moment, she’s definitely at the top of the list of people I’d like to work with. There haven’t been any conversations yet. But it’s something I’m open to, for sure.”
Miley has previously teamed up with a string of famous faces including Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton – who is her godmother – Dua Lipa, Britney Spears and Ariana Grande, but Billie admitted in 2019 the idea of collaborations with other artists make her “get really in [her] own head and weird”.
However, she has since worked with Vince Staples on ‘+Burn’ and Labrinth on ‘Never Felt So Alone’ so she may be open to the idea of recording with the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer.

Crystal Gayle’s sister Loretta Lynn gave her new name

OHMYGOSSIP — Crystal Gayle’s country star sister Loretta Lynn came up with her new name after record label bosses ordered her to change it.
The 72-year-old singer was born Brenda Webb but she was asked to use a stage name by executives at her record label and she’s revealed her famous sibling was the one who came up with the idea of calling herself Crystal.
She told America’s Closer magazine: “I answer to both [names] but Crystal is definitely me now. When I first started, I wanted to stay Brenda, but Brenda Lee was on the same label.
Loretta thought of Crystal. She said I was bright and shiny.”
Loretta – who died last year aged 90 – was already a big star by the time her younger sister started out and Crystal has credited her with encouraging her to chase her dreams.
She also revealed she struck a deal with the country star sister which would allow them both to enjoy careers in music – revealing they decided to avoid recording any songs that sounded similar.
Crystal added to the publication: “Loretta told me: ‘We have one Loretta Lynn, we don’t need another.’She knew I had to make my own way. She said: ‘You will only be compared, so don’t record what I would record.’ It was the best advice ever.”
The singer is known for her trademark long hair and she has no plans to cut it now she’s in her 70s.
She said: “I keep saying I’m going to cut it to a style that would fit me more now, but it’s hard to to get rid of something that’s been with you for so long.”
Crystal added: “The longest it ever got was about four inches in the ground. In heels, I could still step on it. But that was like, no, I’ve got to cut it.”

Taylor Swift hails Jack Antonoff for his ‘beautiful art’

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has gushed over her regular collaborator, Jack Antonoff, and the “beautiful art” she’s witnessed him create over the years.
The 33-year-old pop megastar took to Instagram to heap praise on the 39-year-old studio wizard as the pair released ‘Sweeter Than Fiction (Taylor’s Version)’, the re-recording of the first track they made together, on a special tangerine Target vinyl of ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’.
The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker admitted she sees Jack as her “precious young son”, despite him being several years older than her.
Alongside a series of snaps of them together and a preview of the track, she wrote on Instagram on Sunday (29.10.23): “There you’ll stand ten feet tall, I will say ‘I knew it all along’.
This song has always made me think of my friend Jack. It was the first song we made together and watching him challenge himself and make beautiful art over the years has been the thrill of a lifetime. How can he be 6 years older than me and also somehow still be my precocious young son? We may never know. “Sweeter Than Fiction (My Version)” is now available exclusively at Target on Tangerine vinyl. (sic)”
Taylor released ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ last week, and it also features rapper Kendrick Lamar, 36, on the remix of ‘Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)’.
And the Grammy winner says watching him lay down his verses was “one of the most inspiring experiences” of her life.
She gushed on the social media app: “Watching @kendricklamar create and record his verses on the Bad Blood remix was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life. I still look back on this collaboration with so much pride and gratitude, for the ways Kendrick elevated the song and the way he treats everyone around him. Every time the crowds on The Eras Tour would chant his line ‘you forgive, you forget, but you never let it… go!’, I smiled. The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work I’m so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me. I’m overjoyed to say that the Bad Blood Remix (featuring Kendrick Lamar) is available everywhere on the 1989 Deluxe Edition.”

Megan Thee Stallion announces new single Cobra

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Thee Stallion is set to return with the new single, ‘Cobra’, on Friday (03.11.23).
The rapper recently revealed she is funding her new album all by herself, and now she’s unveiled the visuals and release date for her debut track out on Hot Girl Productions.
A movie-style poster of Megan naked in the jungle with just a spikey material covering her modesty, she teases: “Cobra. A Story Megan Thee Stallion. Available November 3rd.”
A press release notes that ‘Cobra’ is “the first single released on Hot Girl Productions, Megan’s independent music and entertainment entity.”
The 28-year-old star released her previous LPs, 2020’s ‘Good News’ and 2022’s ‘Traumazine’ on 300 Entertainment and 1501 Certified, but she no longer has a record deal so will be bringing out her next record independently.
Speaking on Instagram Live, she said: “This part of my album is definitely very much funded by Megan Thee Stallion because y’know… we tryna get off… y’all know what’s the tea.
“But I have no label right now and we’re doing everything funded by Megan Thee Stallion’s pocket. The budget is coming from me, motherf****** Hot Girl Productions. It’s all coming straight from Megan Thee Stallion – Megan Thee Stallion[‘s] brain, wallet… we in my pockets, hotties, so let’s do our big one.
“We’re really doing our big one and I’m so excited. We’re doing something for the first time independently since it was just me and my mama. I’m so excited ’cause it’s literally just me this go round until we sign to a new label. But I don’t want to sign to a new label right now because I just want to do it myself.”
Megan – who previously took legal action against 1501 Certified Entertainment for allegedly trying to “interfere” with her control over her music and for allegedly trying to keep her locked into a contract – recently teased her next record will mark a new chapter.
She told Billboard: “It’s definitely coming very soon. I’m really excited about this chapter of my life because I feel like I’m finally closing all the old chapters, and now I’m starting with a blank slate. Very fresh, very new. I think Thee Hotties are gonna be so excited. I’m trying different things. I got a lot of things that I produced with Ju and with some new producers.”

We are so excited to play songs from our new album live for the first time ever and of course revisit old favourites from the past. And the cherry on top is getting to see the wonderful Jo Whiley. We love watching Reel Stories and of course couldn’t say no to our old friend Dermot. Reliving the last 30 years we’ve spent together really was a journey. Jo Whiley, host of Radio 2 In Concert, said: “Take That’s Gary, Howard and Mark are quite simply national treasures. Their music is the soundtrack to so many of our lives and their live performances never disappoint, so I can’t wait to see them perform in this exclusive Radio 2 concert.”

Gary, Mark and Howard watch these moments back and discuss their rise back to the very top, revealing the secrets of how it happened, why they did it and where they found the belief to do what no one thought possible.”
Dermot added: “I’ve interviewed Take That many times before, and am glad to call them my friends, but we’ve never properly sat down for an extensive chat. They were honest, funny, wise and frank. It was a joy to spend time with them and I hope not only Take That fans, but anyone who loves music enjoys it.”

‘I have no choice!’ Lauryn Hill postpones concert to prevent ‘serious strain or damage’ to her voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauryn Hill has been forced to postpone a concert to prevent “serious strain or damage” to her vocal cords.
The 48-year-old hip hop artist is currently on her ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ 25th anniversary tour alongside the Fugees, but she had to re-arrange a gig in Philadelphia on Monday night (23.10.23) after she was ordered by a doctor to rest her voice.
She wrote on Instagram: “Dear Philadelphia, It is with disappointment that I am writing this note to you. On the advice of my physicians, I have no choice but to postpone the show. I need to rest my voice to prevent any more serious strain or damage to my vocal cords.
“The start of this tour has been incredible. What an amazing experience to celebrate this anniversary with all of my family, my friends and all of you.
“I look forward to giving you the show you deserve with a fully recovered and healthy voice.”
Lauryn has rescheduled her Philadelphia show for November 25th, and reassured fans that her next planned gig, in Toronto on Thursday (26.10.23), will still be going ahead.
She wrote: “The new date for Philadelphia will be Nove 25. It will be a special one.
“Toronto, I’ll see you next. Resting for a few days then heading your way.”
After her Toronto show, Lauryn will head to Chicago on Saturday (28.10.23), and she has gigs in Fort Worth, Denver, and Los Angeles scheduled for next week.
Lauryn announced the North American tour in August, revealing she would perform the seminal 1998 record in full alongside her former band.
In a statement, she reflected on the Grammy-winning LP, saying: “’The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ is and was a love song to my parents, my family, my people, my musical and cultural forebears, my teachers, my loves, my Creator. I wrote love songs and protest songs – (still love songs) about the subjects and interests that inspired and moved me. I was confident that what inspired me would resonate with an audience that had been led to believe that songs of that kind could only live in the past.
“I loved music, I loved people, I truly felt grateful to God for my life, and genuinely blessed to have a platform where I could share wisdom and perspective through music. I felt a charge to challenge the idea that certain kinds of expression and/or certain kinds of people didn’t belong in certain places. I loved showing what could work or happen provided there was imagination, creativity and LOVE leading the way.”

Dave Grohl makes surprise appearance with The Breeders

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Grohl made a surprise appearance with The Breeders at a festival in Austin, Texas.
The Foo Fighters frontman joined Kim Deal’s band during their set at the Austin City Limits festival in the city on October 13 to perform Pixies hit ‘Gigantic’ after his band headlined the event across two weekends.
Introducing Dave to the stage, Kim joked: “We’ve been touring with him … We’ve had a good show so far Dave OK.”
Dave previously played with The Breeders when they opened for the Foo Fighters on tour last year while he also performed with them at the 2022 Vets Aid gig in Columbus, Ohio last November.
The news comes after Dave opened up about his early days in Nirvana – revealing he was living in “squalor” before finding success.
The 54-year-old musician joined the band as their drummer when they were working on the follow-up to their 1989 debut album ‘Bleach’ and he shared a small apartment with frontman Kurt Cobain which was littered with rubbish and cigarette ends.
However, that all changed when they released ‘Nevermind’ in 1991 which propelled them to fame. During an appearance on the ‘Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend’ podcast, Dave said: “We were kids and so when you talk about the amount of time that’s gone by, to me it’s not even so much about the years. It’s about the experiences that just kind of led, one after another, going from three kids that were basically living or touring out of a van to then becoming a huge band … “Before we made the record ‘Nevermind’, we were pretty much living in squalor. I was living with Kurt in this tiny little apartment and there were just corn dog sticks and cigarettes all over the place. It was f****** disgusting. I would have done anything to have my own apartment and to be able to do that through making music.” He added of how the record changed their lives: “By 1992/1993 we were living in a different world than we were just 16 months before.”

Barry Manilow to bid farewell to the UK with 2024 London Palladium residency

OHMYGOSSIP — Barry Manilow will bid farewell to the UK with a residency at The London Palladium next spring.
The ‘Mandy’ hitmaker, 80, will play nine nights at the legendary music venue between May 23 and June 2.
He said: “In 1978, The London Palladium is where I began my love affair with the British public. These shows will be my last full concerts in Britain and I wanted to end where I began – at the London Palladium.”
Music legend Manilow – who has sold more than 85 million albums worldwide – will kick off the final UK run with a one-off show at the new Manchester Co-op Live arena on May 19.
The Grammy winner – who holds the title for the longest stint in Las Vegas with his ‘Barry Manilow – The Hits Come Home! ‘ concert series, overtaking the late Elvis Presley’s 1978 record – will play a hit-packed show, including ‘Could it Be Magic’, ‘Copa Cabana’ and ‘Can’t Smile Without You’.
Despite these being his final shows in the UK, Manilow still loves to perform his most famous tracks at his shows and could never grow tired of them as the audience makes him feel like he’s “never heard” the songs before.
He told USA Today in 2019: “I’ve stopped performing album cuts and medleys of big bands and stuff. I know what the audience wants. They want the hits. And I am happy to give that to them. I’m one of those lucky guys who has a catalogue of hits that can fill up 90 minutes. I don’t know how that happened, but I’m very grateful. And I want to give them every song they know. So it’s a very happy audience out there …
“I could see the difference. When I would do something, they didn’t know, they would be very polite. And then when I would do ‘Looks Like We Made It,’ the roof would cave in. They were telling me what they wanted. And it’s my pleasure, honestly. It’s theirs. They gave these hits to me. So I’m happy to do it. I don’t mind it. I really don’t. You would think that I’d be sick of them by now. But I really am not because they make it brand new for me. It’s as if they’ve never heard these songs before.”
Tickets go on sale via lwtheatres.co.uk on Friday (27.10.23) at 10am.

The London Palladium dates are:

Rihanna plotting live tour and new music in 2024 and 2025

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna is reportedly planning to make a major music comeback in 2024.
The ‘Kiss It Better’ singer is said to have inked a deal with Live Nation for a massive tour in 2024 and 2025 – and is planning to release new music.
The mother-of-two has an even more hectic life now since welcoming children RZA Athelston Mayers and Riot Rose Mayers into the world with husband A$AP Rocky, but the pair’s relationship is even stronger since starting a family.
A source told ET: “They’ve got their hands full.”
The insider added: “They’re so excited to grow their family and are so united when it comes to parenting.
“They have so much fun together and are very in love. They already shared a special connection, and parenting together has made their bond even stronger.”
Rihanna’s last release was 2022’s ‘Lift Me Up’ from the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack.
However, her last studio effort was 2016’s ‘ANTI’.
The businesswoman recently left her role as CEO of her lingerie brand Savage X Fenty, meaning she could be freeing up more time to be in the studio.
The ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker’s last performance was headlining the Super Bowl LVII halftime show in February.
At the time, she said she had no “updates” on when her new music will be released.
Rihanna told ‘Good Morning America’ of her fans’ long wait for new songs: “They are waiting.
“I’m excited to actually put new music out but I don’t have any updates for you on that yet.”
The 35-year-old superstar previously confessed that she’s found it “impossible” to strike a healthy work/life balance.
The chart-topping star admitted that she’s still adjusting to the demands of motherhood.
She said: “It’s very different.
“The balance is almost impossible because no matter how you look at it, work is always something that’s going to rob you of time with your child. That’s the currency now, that’s where it goes. The magnitude of how much it weighs.”

‘Oh we are definitely going to keep on going’: Scouting For Girls vow to never retire

OHMYGOSSIP — Scouting For Girls would rather die on stage than retire from touring.
Frontman Roy Stride – who is joined by Greg Churchouse and James Rowland in the pop rock band – has vowed to continue rocking through their 70s and 80s.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, he said: “Oh we are definitely going to keep on going.
“Greg has just had a kid and you know how expensive kids are!
“I mentioned something about doing slightly less festivals next year and he was like, ‘No you can’t retire until Marnie is at least 21’, and she’s not even one yet!”
Roy continued: “Well, I don’t think I will ever retire. It is my dream to make music.
“We did a gig with The Wurzels and they’re like in their 70s and 80s and they’re still having a great time – that’s the dream.”
The 44-year-old musician believes dying on stage wouldn’t be so bad if it happened instantly.
He chuckled: “I had this weird dream that I died recently, and we were talking about dying on stage.
“If it was like a lightning strike and happened really quickly then I was like, ‘Yes that is the way to go!'”
Meanwhile, Roy recently revealed Harry Styles is keen to record a song with him.
The ‘She’s So Lovely’ hitmaker used to pen tracks for the ‘Watermelon Sugar’ singer’s old band One Direction, and while he didn’t think the pop superstar would remember him when their paths crossed recently, he was delighted when Harry suggested they work together again.
Roy told Heat magazine: “[I used to hang out with] bands like One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, because I worked with them to write some songs for their albums.
“People would be pleased to know that they were always absolute joys.
“I actually bumped into Harry Styles in LA in a restaurant a couple of years ago.
“I assumed he wouldn’t remember me, so I didn’t go over, but he actually came up to me and said we should get back in the studio together.”
