Jonathan Saunders thinks Diane von Furstenberg underestimated him

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Saunders thinks Diane von Furstenberg underestimated him.
The 40-year-old fashion designer took over as chief creative officer of the 70-year-old’s eponymous line last year believes the creative mastermind didn’t realise how “specifically [he] envisaged the brand evolution” or how “strong-willed” and “bossy” he would be when he took over the brand.
Speaking to ST magazine, the mogul said: “She [Diane] was looking for someone respectful of what had been created but strong enough to do it in a new way.
“I don’t think Diane realised how strong-willed I would be, or how bossy. And how specifically I envisaged the brand evolution. I wanted the focus to come back to the product, while respecting how it had been used to vocalise certain messages of empowerment for women. All of those things are intrinsic and important, but my job was to turn those words into indirect messages – they can be printed and colourful, they can make her feel creative and inspired, without having to tell her that.”
But the star has admitted he even doubted his ability at the helm of the company because DvF w3as known for being centred around Diane and her life.
Jonathan explained: “The brand Diane von Furstenberg was so much about the individual, such a larger-than-life character, and the communication around it was always about her and aspects of her life. I couldn’t visualise how someone new could come in and express another vision. I just didn’t know whether it would work.
“I can’t try to please everybody. Not everyone has to buy it or like it.”
Meanwhile, Jonathan has admitted he has a strong work ethic, and always has done since he was a teenager.
He said: “Oh I just love working. I’ve loved it since I was 14 years old. I get such satisfaction from achieving things, and this was such an opportunity. ”

Jenna Dewan Tatum’s husband ‘prefers’ her without make-up

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenna Dewan Tatum loves to wear make-up, but her husband Channing Tatum “prefers” her without it.
The 36-year-old actress and dancer has been married to the 37-year-old actor for eight years after having met on set of ‘Step Up’, and although the brunette beauty enjoys applying cosmetic products to her face her spouse thinks she looks better when she is at her most natural, which makes it “easy” for Jenna.
Speaking to PEOPLE about her style and beauty preferences, the ‘World of Dance’ judge said: “When it comes to beauty, I love beauty, my mom loved beauty. No one ever judged us for it.
“He [Channing] prefers [me] without make-up. Makes it easy on me.”
But Jenna doesn’t think the ‘Dear John’ hunk will be able to cope when his daughter Everly, four, starts applying beauty products to herself.
She said: “I don’t think he’s anywhere near ready. He’ll see pictures and be like, ‘That girl is 14.’ It’s mind blowing, you really almost can’t see it’s what’s happening.”
However, their child is not near that stage yet and enjoys giving her mother a “freestyle” makeover instead, which pleasantly surprised Jenna because it resembled the latest make-up trend of contouring.
She explained: “She [Everly] did a contour. It was in the right spot. It was kind of amazing actually. She calls it freestyle. She goes, ‘Mommy let me freestyle,” and I said okay. She has a really strong sense of creativity and I foster that.”
Jenna thinks all women should do what makes them feel their most comfortable, whether that means they apply make-up or not, and she insists she will let her daughter wear the beauty products if she wants to when she is older, but if Everly doesn’t take to it then the style icon will accept that.
She said: “We should just stop the shaming and the judging in general. Women who wear make-up say you should wear make-up. People who don’t wear make-up say you shouldn’t wear make-up. Just be you. So if she likes it great, if she doesn’t, fine.”

Olivier Rousteing is ‘addicted’ to early morning workouts

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivier Rousteing is “addicted” to early morning fitness classes.
The 31-year-old fashion designer, who is the creative director of Balmain, has admitted as much as he would love to have a lie-in every morning he has to force himself to work out because he “needs a release” from his busy work schedule.
Speaking about his daily routine to Grazia magazine, the creative mastermind: “I’m tempted to sleep in, of course, but with the pressure of my job I need a release, and I get that from working out. I’m addicted to early boxing classes and cardio workouts. They help me push out any anger and bring in good vibes.”
Once the mogul has worked up a sweat he will prepare his “uniform” for the day ahead, although his wardrobe choices are simple.
He continued: “I take a long shower and prepare my uniform. I like to dress quite simply, but powerfully for work – a double-breasted blazer, skinny black jeans and a black tee, Balmain, naturally.”
And the fashion muse will apply a touch of make-up to accentuate his chiselled jaw line.
He added: “I’m just born with great bone structure. No, I’m kidding, of course I use some bronzer to sharpen my contours.”
Olivier also swears by a hydrating face serum, which he will apply “daily”, as well as a clay face mask, to keep his skin looking “fresh”.
He said: “In the fashion world, you don’t have time to rest, you always have to look fresh, so I use a hydrating serum daily, a clay mask twice a week and lip balm.”
Olivier, who has worked with models including Kylie Jenner, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jourdan Dunn, has admitted the catwalk icons are his “inspiration” for his clothing lines, although he feels his relationship with the blonde-haired beauty goes beyond just a friendship and is more of a sibling bond.
He said: “The models i work with aren’t just friends, they’re my inspiration, too. The younger girls are the next generations and are full of amazing ideas that I like to bring to light.
“[I am closest to] Rosie-Huntington Whiteley. I just love her, and Jourdan Dunn – every time I see them I feel like they’re my sisters.”

Victoria Beckham ‘obsessed’ with nude lip liner

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham is “obsessed” with nude lip liner.
The 43-year-old fashion mogul has admitted she can’t leave the house without her trusty beauty product, and was once tempted to call the emergency services after her make-up artist Wendy Rowe misplaced the vital liner on a shoot.
Speaking during an appearance on UK television show ‘This Morning’ on Thursday (07.09.17), Victoria said: “I don’t leave the house without my nude lipstick. I have them in every single one of my bags. I get a little obsessive! I’m obsessed with a nude lip liner. I have to tell you, one day I was doing my shoot with Wendy and she forgot the lip liner.”
To which Wendy added: “I misplaced it – that’s all I’m going to say! We managed to find it in the end though. I was going to call 999 but it was OK!”
Victoria’s make-up confession comes after she recently revealed she hopes to empower women through her collaboration with beauty giants Estée Lauder, with whom she will release her second collection this month.
She said: “I was at the airport looking at the make-up in duty-free and I thought, ‘Everything looks the same.’ For me it’s not about copying what everyone else is doing, it’s about creating make-up that women feel proud to own. Ultimately it’s about empowering women.”
Victoria also revealed that she “wear-tests” all of her products before signing off on them and gets advice from her retired soccer star husband David, as well as using pictures of herself to determine what make-up is and is not working.
She revealed: “I like to wear-test everything. Last night, I went home and was talking to David and he said, ‘You’ve got a lot of make-up on.’ I test everything and keep removing, reapplying and layering it.
“There are must-have pieces that every woman should have in her make-up bag. I’m obsessed with nude lipsticks and the new Matte Lipstick formula is absolute perfection. I learn an enormous amount by seeing pictures of myself and in photos the new shades read as nude, but in practical terms you can get a really great lip shape and it doesn’t bleed. I put this lipstick on at seven o’clock this morning – I’ve eaten my breakfast, my lunch and it’s still in place.”

Jourdan Dunn finds her voice designing Londunn fashion range

OHMYGOSSIP — Jourdan Dunn was forced to “have a voice” when she designed her Londunn fashion range.
The 27-year-old model teamed up with the online retailer Missguided to launch her own line earlier this year, and the star has revealed being involved in the creative process has taught her to “speak up” and be more confident in voicing her opinions on her garments.
The brunette beauty, who has recently launched her second collection under the label, said: “This is my brand so I need to have a voice; it has taught me to speak up”.
But this is a trait the catwalk icon has never had as she has admitted when she was at school she would know the answers to questions posed but would never put her hand up to talk in front of the class because she was “scared” to use her voice.
She continued: “Even at school I would know the answers to questions but would never speak up. I was scared to use my voice. Now I’m learning you shouldn’t be scared.”
Jourdan – who has seven-year-old son Riley – has admitted she always used to be a people pleaser and would rarely say ‘No’ when she first started out in the modelling industry.
The star – who has also created a childrenswear range for Marks and Spencer – said: “I always want to please people. I’ve always felt that I’ve never been in a position to say ‘no’, especially when you first start out as a model.
“I realised the only opinion that matters is that of myself. I have learnt to be my biggest cheerleader.”
Although the fashion muse has hailed herself as her “biggest cheerleader” she has revealed fellow model Karlie Kloss has always supported her and given her the extra boost of confidence she needs.
Speaking about her 25-year-old pal – who is the godmother to her child – to Stylist magazine, Jourdan said: “Karlie. She’s so clued up and all about her business. Sometimes she sees more in me than I see in myself. She’s always telling me, ‘Jourdan, you are this amazing person, I wish you would see what everybody else sees.”

Kanye West pulls out of New York Fashion Week?

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West has reportedly cancelled his Yeezy Season 6 premiere at New York Fashion Week.
The 40-year-old musician is believed to have pulled his clothing line out of the upcoming fashion extravaganza less than a week before he was due to premiere his sixth season of designer gear during his scheduled presentation on September 13.
Business of Fashion reported the news after they claimed a representative of Redken – who were due to work on the show – sent an email confirming the cancelled presentation on Wednesday (06.09.17).
As of the time of writing, Kanye has not commented on the speculation, however, sources close to the star reportedly told Us Weekly magazine that a presentation at New York Fashion Week was never scheduled in the first place, and the debut of his new collection will happen at a later, as yet unconfirmed, date.
The apparent cancellation may come as a shock to fans of the rapper’s clothing line, though, as he’s used the famous fashion showcase to debut his new collections for the past five seasons.
Whilst the cause of Kanye’s decision not to appear at New York Fashion Week is unclear, it comes less than a year after the ‘Famous’ rapper pulled out of his ‘Saint Pablo’ tour due to “exhaustion” which at the time was attributed to “working around the clock” on his fashion label.
Speaking in November 2016, a source said: “He’s just exhausted. He’s been wording around the clock on fashion design, both his own line and the Adidas line. He’s a notorious workaholic … so balancing both that work – which is extremely important to him – and the rigours of the tour every night, it really wore him out.
“All the time spent away from his family has been a stress on him, as well. They are the most important to him. Obviously he’s a professional and wants to give his fans a great experience and I think his gut was telling him to extend the tour throughout the end of the year, but he decided to push through. He doesn’t want to give his fans anything less than the best.”

Karlie Kloss feels ‘insecure’ about herself

OHMYGOSSIP — Karlie Kloss has admitted she still feels “insecure” about herself.
The 25-year-old model has admitted she has her own “flaws and fears and anxiety” about her appearance at times, and although she is grateful to have a successful career at the helm of the fashion industry, she sometimes feels she has to put a brave face on when deep down she is still working to “figure out life”.
Speaking to Wmagazine.com, the blonde-haired beauty said: “I am human, and I am a 6’2” or 6′-something human who has insecurities and flaws and fears and anxiety just like everybody else.
“For me, that’s what I mean by saying I feel insecure all the time: I’m lucky to have a day job where I get to be a super confident supermodel and put a face on for the world, but at the same time, I’m a 25-year-old girl figuring out life like everybody else.”
But the catwalk icon has learned from her idols, including Christy Turlington, is that you must never feel “paralysed” by the insecurities, but to recognise the unsettling feeling to stay grounded.
She continued: “But I think the important thing to learn–and this is something that I feel lucky to have strong women like Christy to learn from–is that you can’t be paralyzed by those insecurities. You have to recognise them, and it’s important to feel them–they can be humbling and keep you grounded and keep you human–but you can’t be paralyzed by those fears and insecurities and feeling inadequate.”
Although Karlie has starred in campaigns for luxury brands and is set to grace the runway for Victoria’s Secret this month, she doesn’t consider herself to be an “expert on fashion or life”.
The Kode With Klossy founder said: “It’s really surreal, especially because I feel like I definitely have a lot to learn myself, and though I have experienced a lot, by no means am I an expert on fashion or life.”

Olivia Culpo’s reveals her ‘worst fashion fail’

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Culpo’s “worst fashion fail” was wearing the wrong underwear with an outfit.
The 25-year-old model doesn’t think it is ever a “bad thing” to wear the same garments again even if it is not on trend at the time, but she does think it is a “bad mistake” to don inappropriate lingerie with certain outfits, which she has confessed to doing and massively regrets.
The brunette beauty told PEOPLE: “My worst fashion fail was when I forgot to wear appropriate garments.
“So, I don’t think it’s ever a bad thing to wear a certain outfit that might not be fashionable anymore or it might not be to someone’s particular taste, I think your fashion sense should be a reflection of who you are and there’s no wrong fashion moment. But one time I forgot to wear the right bra and that was a bad mistake. Confession.”
Meanwhile, Olivia – who is currently dating sportsman Danny Amendola – has revealed she cannot leave her house without two of her favourite beauty products; Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Collection Powder and Nars concealer.
She said: “The one beauty produce I cannot leave my house without is my Charlotte Tilbury Flawless collection powder, or the Nars crème concealer in custard – the best. They are just must haves, everyone needs to have those two products.”
And the ‘The Other Woman’ actress has revealed she also has three wardrobe essentials, which are a black and white bodysuit, as well as high waisted jeans, and she relies on those items because she thinks when they are worn together they work for any time and “every occasion”.
She said: “The one wardrobe necessity I cannot live without is a black and white bodysuit, and a high waisted pair of jeans, with that outfit you can’t go wrong. Works every time for every occasion.”
But the style icon – who recently partnered with PrettyLittleThing on her own capsule collection – has revealed she would love nothing more than to raid actress Blake Lively or fashion designer and Spice Girl band member Victoria Beckham’s wardrobes.
Speaking about her fashion muses, she said: “If I could raid any celebrity wardrobe it would be Blake lively or Victoria Beckham or both.”

Christian Dior and Gucci will no longer cast underweight models

OHMYGOSSIP — Christian Dior and Gucci have announced they will no longer cast underweight models in their fashion shows.
The French fashion house, which has recently appointed Maria Grazia Chiuri as the brand’s creative director, has announced they are putting the initiative into place in a bid to prevent criticism around their casting and to try and prevent eating disorders, BBC News has reported.
And Dior are not the only brand to push the plan as Gucci, which is helmed by Alessandro Michele, have also followed suit.
This project was put in place by the two major fashion firms LVMH and Kering, which look after a string of prestigious label, including Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Fendi and Stella McCartney.
And Kering’s chairman, Francois-Henri Pinault, hopes their plan will encourage even more companies in the business to take on the same ethical practice.
He said: “[Kering hope to] inspire the entire industry to follow suit … [Kering want to make] a real difference in the working conditions of fashion models”.
And LVMH’s director, Antoine Arnault, added: “I am deeply committed to ensuring that the working relationship between LVMH Group brands, agencies and models goes beyond simply complying with the legal requirements.”
And models who have secured a place on the runway and will represent fashion brands now have to be larger than the French clothing size 32, which is the equivalent to a size six in the UK, and a size zero in America.
The brands have also agreed they will no longer use catwalk icons who are younger than 16 year old to exhibit their adult ranges.
The changes will be actioned before Paris Fashion Week this month, and the companies that do not adhere to the strategy could be fined up to £70,000, whilst the brand’s bosses could risk facing jail for up to six months.

Tom Ford’s sobriety is reflected in his designs

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Ford’s sobriety impacted on his designs.
The 56-year-old fashion designer has openly admitted to battling with alcoholism many years ago, and the star believes since he quit drinking and stopped taking drugs his creations have reflected his personal changes and become “more sober” as well.
Speaking to Business of Fashion Online, the creative mastermind – who launched his eponymous brand in 2006 – said: “I haven’t done anything exuberant in a long time. I used to give these hedonistic parties at Gucci. Alcohol-fuelled — and in many cases, drug-fuelled — these big parties that people used to love. My life changed a lot when I quit drinking, quit doing drugs, quit smoking, quit all of these things, and it does make you more sober. It made my clothes more sober. It took me a while maybe to be able to get back to being able to be joyful and silly without alcohol.”
The fashion mogul is set to showcase his new designs at New York Fashion Week, and he plans to continue exhibiting his creations for many more seasons to come.
Speaking about the fashion extravaganza and the future of his company, he said: “I thought it was really important to have a proper show during a Fashion Week. And I’d like to remain in to New York, at least for a few seasons, so that people know, ‘Oh, okay, Tom Ford. He’s on the calendar. He shows then.’ That’s important from a business standpoint, to try to have that consistency that I have lacked.”
And Tom hopes the fashion show will attract “younger customers” to his label, although he still wants to maintain the older generation of “very loyal” consumers.
The ‘Nocturnal Animals’ director – who was previously the creative director of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent – added: “I have a very loyal customer who has followed me from Gucci. They were in their thirties when I was in my thirties. They’re now in their fifties, approaching 60. That customer? She still reads magazines. Yes, she’s on Instagram and she’s contemporary and she lives in an urban world, but she still likes to hold a magazine.
“What do I hope this show will do for us? I hope it brings in a younger customer. It’s a departure. It’s a bit more modern.
“I think now, in a show, people look for items and everything is so exaggerated that it often almost looks like costumes, but when you break it down there’s a great jacket or a great bag. Women are buying items that are very potent and concentrated that can give them the feeling of the season.”
