Pablo Policicchio, the communications director for the Buenos Aires Security Ministry, has confirmed the news to PEOPLE.
Liam was pronounced dead after jumping from the third floor of the hotel.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after 5pm local time, having been alerted to the situation by the hotel management.
In the first call made to the emergency services, a hotel employee explained: “We have a guest drunk with drugs and alcohol. When he is conscious, he is breaking everything in the room…
“We have a guest who is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come.”
In a follow-up call, the employee added: “We need you to send someone urgently because I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger.

Derek Hough agonised over his Dancing With the Stars performance

OHMYGOSSIP — Derek Hough struggled to find the perfect song for his and Hayley Erbert’s ‘Dancing With the Stars’ performance.

Derek previously hailed his wife as a medical “miracle”.

Liam Payne ‘seemed fine and looked happy’

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Payne “seemed fine” shortly before he passed away.
The pop star died in Buenos Aires on Wednesday (16.10.24), aged 31, after falling from the balcony of his hotel room – but Jodie Richards, who taught Liam at her performing arts company Pink Productions, has revealed that he “looked happy” during a conversation earlier this week.
Jodie – who spoke to Liam via a series of text messages – told Sky News: “I’m really close to Liam, we’ve been friends for years and he was away yesterday in Argentina and I think he just wanted to touch base and check I was okay, see how everyone was back at home.
“We speak near enough every day and have done for years. Obviously he’s always been there at times I’ve needed him even though he’s not local.”
Liam told Jodie on Wednesday that he was “chilling” in Argentina, with Jodie revealing that she didn’t have any concerns about him at the time.
She shared: “He was looking forward to his day, he said he was having a chill, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
“He’s always somewhere more glamorous than we are so Los Angeles, Argentina, I have to look at the time difference to see where he is, he usually texts me and it’s the middle of our night.
“He seemed fine, he looked happy, he looked healthy – no reason for any kind of concern and then obviously I heard it on the news.”
Jodie was initially in a state of disbelief after hearing the news of Liam’s passing.
She said: “I thought it was fake news, I tried to phone him. Obviously he wasn’t answering. I tried to text him, it wasn’t going to a ‘read’ message – normally it does quite quickly, then as I turned the telly on it was getting more and more apparent it wasn’t fake.”

Sharon Osbourne believes Liam Payne was ‘let down’ by music industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Osbourne believes the late Liam Payne was “let down” by the music industry.
The 72-year-old star – who was a judge on ‘The X Factor’ from 2004–2007, 2013, and 2016–2017 – has paid tribute to the former One Direction star after he died on Wednesday (16.10.24) aged 31 and admitted she doesn’t think he received enough support after becoming a household name at the age of just 16.
Sharing a picture of the singer on Instagram, Sharon wrote: “Liam, my heart aches. We all let you down. Where was this industry when you needed them? You were just a kid when you entered one of the toughest industries in the world. Who was in your corner? Rest in peace my friend @liampayne (sic)”
Liam – who passed away after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires – first auditioned for ‘The X Factor’ in 2008 when he was 14 and returned two years later, where he secured a place in One Direction.
Sharon’s comments come after Boyzone singer Mikey Graham called on record companies to bring in new duty of care standards to look after young stars.
In a post on X – previously known as Twitter – he wrote: “RIP Liam Payne. Such tragic news.
“I think it would be a wise move for record companies to have psychologists on their books from now on in his memory as a duty of care for the vulnerability of their young talent.
“Fame can be very damaging especially in today’s world. Lots of money. Nobody to help. Lots of yes people. Nobody honest.”
Liam previously opened up about his struggle with alcoholism and revealed the One Direction singers were often confined to their hotel rooms due to the level of their fame and he would have a “party for one” using the mini-bar.
During an appearance on ‘The Diary of a CEO’ podcast, Liam said: “I was worried how far my rock bottom was going to be. Where’s rock bottom for me? And you would never have seen it. I’m very good at hiding it. No one would ever have seen it.
“There is some stuff that I have definitely never, never spoken about. It was really, really, really severe. And it was a problem. And it was only until I saw myself after that, I was like ‘Right, I need to fix myself.”
He added of his boyband days: “The problem was … the best way to secure us [the bandmembers], because of how big it got, was to lock us in a room. And, of course, what is in the room? A minibar.
“At a certain point, I just thought, ‘Well, I’m going to have a party for one,’ and that just seemed to carry on throughout many years of my life.
“It was wild, but it was the only way you could get the frustration out in the day.”

Lashana Lynch confirms pregnancy at The Day Of The Jackal premiere

OHMYGOSSIP — Lashana Lynch is pregnant with her first child.
The ‘No Time To Die’ star debuted her bonny baby bump at the premiere of her new TV drama serial ‘The Day Of The Jackal’ in New York City on Thursday (17.10.24) and is said to have surprised her co-star Eddie Redmayne with the reveal.
Lashana – whose partner is 36-year-old actor Zackary Momoh – donned an animal print sleeveless Ottolinger dress and explained that she opted for the relaxed gown to celebrate “the female figure”.
She told Vogue: “I wanted to keep the look really simple, poignant and effective.
“I feel comfortable and at ease, but also in charge of myself. Some red carpet gowns, although beautiful and stunning, feel like you’re putting on a different part of yourself, whereas here I feel like I’m celebrating the female figure.”
The 36-year-old star – who plays the role of Bianca in the adaption of Frederick Forsyth’s political novel of the same name – went on to describe her style as “comfy and chill”.
She said: “For every premiere, you want to make sure you’re putting your best self forward. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that what you come with naturally is so beautiful and deserves to be celebrated in its own right.
You don’t have to put anything on you in order for you to feel stunning on a red carpet. Here, I get to just be comfy and chill. That’s kind of me all over, really.”
The Marvel star likes her red carpet looks to pay homage to the roles she is playing, noting her current characters are “breaking through the glass ceiling”.
She told the fashion bible: “I have spent many years trying to figure out what I’m trying to represent on the carpet every single time I release a project.
“I’ve played a lot with colours and textures and lengths and volume and I’m really grateful for those moments because they’ve helped me grow as a woman.
“The roles that I’m playing right now are very much breaking through the glass ceiling. And I think fashion should also reflect that, so that’s what this dress is doing.”
