Emma Thompson explains Love Actually absence

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Thompson says it would be “too sad” to take part in the ‘Love Actually’ mini-sequel without Alan Rickman.
Alan and Emma played husband and wife in the original 2003 movie but Emma admitted that she and director Richard Curtis decided she couldn’t feature in the update without Alan, who died in 2016 after battling cancer.
She said: “Richard wrote to me and said, ‘Darling, we can’t write anything for you because of Alan,’ and I said, ‘No of course, it would be sad, too sad.’
“It’s too soon. It’s absolutely right because it’s supposed to be for Comic Relief but there isn’t much comic relief in the loss of our dear friend really only just over a year ago. We thought and thought but it just seemed wrong but to revisit the wonderful fun characters of Bill Nighy and Hugh Grant and Liam (Neeson) and all of that, that’s fantastic but obviously what would he have done? Both of them would be in therapy by now and I would be working on some kind of ward. It was absolutely the right decision.”
Richard previous revealed that Emma would not take part and he didn’t plan to reference Alan in the short movie, which is being filmed for Comic Relief.
He said: “Ems isn’t in it. She just can’t do it.”
When asked if Alan’s character would be mentioned, he said: “You know dealing with Alan is very complicated, so not really. We’re not [involving] everyone. We’re doing about two thirds of people.”
Original stars Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Rowan Atkinson, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Olivia Olson are all expected to take part in the movie, which will air on BBC1 on March 24.

Amber Rose sued by strip club

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Rose is reportedly being sued by a strip club for $1 million.
The 33-year-old model – who used to be a stripper – claimed at the All Def Movie Awards earlier this week that she is the new owner of Los Angeles nightspot Ace of Diamonds.
However, TMZ reports that SKWS Enterprises, which owns the club, claim that is “unequivocally false” and they haven’t sold the business to anyone.
They have reportedly launched a lawsuit for $1 million and have accused the star of slander.
Speaking about the club recently, Amber said: “I was a dancer, I was an exotic dancer, I was stripper for a very long time. Best time of my life, by the way. I had the time of my life.
“But do y’all know Ace of Diamonds? Well, I bought it. So this is to every girl out there, every stripper, ya’ll can one day be on stage with Russell Simmons, receiving an award.”
And Jason Robertson, the co-owner and operator of Ace of Diamonds, called Amber the “boss lady” at the venue.
He told E! News: “Her role is the boss lady.
“She is bringing in these dancers and these women and hostesses are having women’s rights more than what they had before.
“It’s not going to be them treated like pieces of meat. She’s brought in more of a structure where you have to respect what they’re doing. With that, I can’t say no to that. She understands it. She comes from it. She understands women more than anybody, I believe. She stands up for women more than anybody, I believe and she has overwhelming power over the whole situation.”
Last summer, the talk show host and her ex-husband Wiz Khalifa – who have son Sebastian, four, together – celebrated reaching a divorce settlement at Ace of Diamonds, and the pair spent $30,000 on strippers.
She previously said: “It’s so crazy that we are literally the best of friends. We hang out all the time. We have family days with the baby.
“We just went out to a strip club the other night together – without the baby. Just me and Wiz. We had a great time. We spent like [$30,000] on strippers. It was sick. It was so cool.”

Meryl Streep refuses to wear Chanel dress to Oscars

OHMYGOSSIP — Meryl Streep allegedly turned down the chance to wear a Chanel dress to this year’s Oscars because the brand refused to pay her.
Karl Lagerfeld – who is the head designer and creative director of the lavish fashion house – had been working hard to create a beautiful embroidered silk gown from his recent collection for the 67-year-old actress to wear to the glamorous ceremony, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, on Sunday (26.02.17) night when she reportedly decided to pull out of the agreement over cash.
Speaking to WWD.com, Lagerfeld said: “I made a sketch, and we started to make the dress (but then I get a phone call from her team a few days later which said): ‘Don’t continue the dress. We found somebody who will pay us.’ After we gift her a dress that’s 100,000 euros, we found later we had to pay [for her to wear it]. We give them dresses, we make the dresses, but we don’t pay.”
Meryl is no doubt determined to look her best at the Academy Awards as she’s nominated for her 20th golden statue this year for her role in ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’ but she will need to fight off stiff competition from Natalie Portman and Emma Stone if she wants to bag Best Actress and be in with the chance of reeling off her acceptance speech in front of the world.
This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Halle Berry, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Hailee Steinfeld are among the celebrities who will present the gongs to the winners.
‘La La Land’ leads the nominations with 14 nods – equalling the record set by 1997 movie ‘Titanic’ – in categories including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Production Design.
The musical’s leading man, Ryan Gosling, is in the running for Best Actor but faces competition from ‘Manchester By The Sea’ star Casey Affleck, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’s Andrew Garfield, ‘Captain Fantastic’s Viggo Mortensen and ‘Fences’ actor Denzel Washington.

Hugh Jackman: Jimmy Kimmel will be a 'pro' at the Oscars

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Jackman thinks Jimmy Kimmel will be a “pro” at hosting the Oscars.
The 48-year-old actor hosted the glitzy award ceremony in 2009, and has said the best piece of advice he can give to the talk show host – who will be taking to the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday (26.02.17) – is to “have the time of [his] life”, regardless of whether things go right.
Speaking on US news programme ‘Good Morning America’ on Friday (24.02.17), the ‘Logan’ star said: “Right now he’s probably quite relaxed. That guy is a pro, I love Jimmy and I think he’s going to be so excited. It’s a moment you never forget. My goal was to have the time of my life, whether it worked or not.”
Meanwhile, Jimmy, 49, recently revealed he felt “like a distant relative had died” when he was asked in December to host the ceremony, as he was only given two months to prepare for the role.
He said: “It was like a distant relative had died, in that I knew what was ahead. I work a lot. I work 12 hours a day. Having time to think about what you might do with a big show like this is important to me … I was bummed it didn’t come a week or two earlier, cause then I could get a jump on it.”
The American chat show presenter says the 89th annual ceremony “will definitely be significantly longer than” three hours long but plans to focus on making the A-list audience laugh by being spontaneous.
He added: “It’s really the only thing I have. I can’t sing or dance. I’m not an actor. I figured I’ll stick with my strengths. A big song-and-dance number is something people assume you might do. That was never in the plan.”

Paris Hilton has no 'time' for reality TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Paris Hilton doesn’t “have time” for reality TV.
The 36-year-old former ‘The Simple Life’ star has vowed to never return to her reality television roots because she’s “more interested” in running her business “empire”, which includes 19 product lines and 20 fragrances.
She told Plastik magazine: “My team gets calls every single day with offers for reality TV but I am so busy running my empire that I don’t have time for it.
“I feel like I have been there and done that and it’s not a priority in my life. I am more interested in being a businesswoman.”
And Paris – who comes from a family of business owners as her great-grandfather Conrad Hilton is the founder of Hilton Hotels – says the hardest part of growing her own business empire was getting people to take her “seriously.”
She added: “The most challenging part has been people taking me seriously.
“They are always so surprised when I come prepared to meetings and that I am well versed in whatever business venture we are discussing.”
Paris – who is rumoured to be dating actor Chris Zylka – also spoke about being “an inspiration” to other women who might want to make it in the business world, and urged people to “work hard” and not let success “get to your head”.
She said: “I love that I can be a role model and inspiration to young women. I am all about girl power. I love being an inspiration to girls who want to be independent women and build their own brand and business and showing them that if you work hard and focus, dreams can come true.
“My advice would be to continue to work hard and surround yourself with good people and a great team who really want the best for you. Also, don’t let it get to your head and always treat your fans with love and respect.”

Ian McShane: Game of Thrones fans need to get out more

OHMYGOSSIP — Ian McShane thinks ‘Game of Thrones’ fans need to “get out more”.
The 74-year-old actor sparked uproar ahead of his appearance in season six of the fantasy drama last year when he revealed key plot details, including teasing the return of The Hound, surrounding his character Brother Ray, but doesn’t understand why there was such a fuss about his comments.
He said of the backlash: “Can you believe it? ‘Oh, you’re giving it away.’ Firstly, you love it and secondly, you’ll have forgotten by the time it comes out. And what am I giving away? A character beloved by everybody returns. Get a f***ing life.
“The show is huge but some fans seem to identify with it [too closely]. You want to say, ‘Have you thought about your lifestyle? Maybe you should get out a little more.’ ”
Ian previously dismissed the show as “just t*ts and dragons” and couldn’t understand why there is so much secrecy surrounding the HBO series.
He said: “You say the slightest thing and the internet goes ape. I was accused of giving the plot away, but I just think get a f***ing life. It’s only t*ts and dragons.”
And during the same interview, he also gave away another spoiler when he admitted his role wasn’t long-term.
He said: “They asked me if I wanted to do ‘Game of Thrones’ and I said, ‘Sure, I’ll be able to see my old pals Charlie Dance and Stephen Dillane’ and they said, ‘No, we’ve killed them off.’ I wasn’t sure whether I could commit, but then they said it would only be for one episode, so I said, ‘So that means I must die at the end of it. Great, I’m in.’ ”

Lea Michele joins ABC's new comedy project

OHMYGOSSIP — Lea Michele will not be returning to ‘Scream Queens’ as she has been cast in ABC’s new comedy pilot.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former ‘Glee’ star will be part of the as-yet untitled project and if the comedy/horror series is commissioned for a third series by Fox she will not be part of it.
‘Scream Queens’ creator Ryan Murphy – who also cast Lea as Rachel Berry in ‘Glee’ – has reportedly released the 30-year-old actress from her deal for another run as her character Hester Ulrich.
Lea will appear in the ABC project with Tony winner Daveed Diggs which will focus on the life of a city major played by Search Party’s Brandon Micheal Hall.
The premise of the proposed programme is “what happens when an outspoken, idealistic rapper Courtney runs for office as a publicity stunt. When he actually gets elected, he surprises everyone, including himself, when he has a natural knack for the job and slowly transforms city hall”.
Lea has, on many occasions, talked about how much of a great she had on set making ‘Scream Queens’ revealing she became best friends with Emma Roberts and former a close bond with Jamie Lee Curtis – who was dubbed the original scream queen due to her early roles in slasher films such as ‘Halloween’ and ‘Prom Night’.
Speaking about her admiration for Jamie, 58, Lea said: “Jamie’s a dream to work with. Not only that, but Jamie Lee is the best leader we could ask for. There’s not a day we don’t come to work where Jamie hasn’t brought us a gift or a note. The entire cast are a great family.”

Robbie Williams unimpressed by 'boring' modern pop stars

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams thinks modern pop stars are “boring” because they don’ take drugs and diss one and other.
The ‘Mixed Signals’ singer thinks it’s “weird” that artists aren’t as rock ‘n’ roll as they used to be, with antics which were all the rage in the 90s such as trashing hotel rooms and feuding with your peers – like he did with his rival Liam Gallagher – all going out of fashion.
Robbie blames it on the fact they are not taking strong enough substances or drinking enough booze.
In an interview with NME magazine, he said: “We were a different breed back then [in the 90s] – cussing and dissing and needing to say things in order to be interesting. I don’t think people do that now. It was expected of everybody to be drunk and off their face on cocaine. People don’t do that now – it seems so f***ing weird … If people did that now, it would just look a bit sad. I think it just depends what drugs are out there at the time. What’s out there at the moment? Ketamine? Or am I out of date on that?”
However, the 43-year-old singer – who is now sober and doesn’t drink or take any drugs – admits that he often regrets opening his mouth and saying controversial things, but insists he’s just trying to “entertain” people rather than be a “neutral artist”.
He said: “I like to entertain. I do have limited creative skills and I find myself saying things that, on later inspection, I probably wouldn’t have said. I’m just trying to be funny all the time.
“There are so many boring pH7 neutral artists out there that it’s not difficult standing out.”

Mel Gibson would be a chef

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel Gibson would be a chef if he wasn’t famous.
The ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ filmmaker is very skilled in the kitchen, but joked that sometimes his dishes can be a bit too spicy.
Asked what his alternative career would be, he said: “I’d be a chef. I can [cook]/ I like making a Malasian soup called a Laksa. Of course you can’t sit down the next day.”
The 61-year-old star also admitted he has a sweet tooth, but tries not to eat too much chocolate because it makes him “balloon out”.
Discussing his guilty pleasures, he said: “Man I love chocolate but I can’t do that, I’d balloon out.”
And when he was then handed a box of chocolates by ‘Extra’ presenter Renee Bargh, he said: “I’ll imbibe guiltily tomorrow.”
Mel and his partner Rosalind Ross welcomed son Lars into the world last month, and the ‘Braveheart’ star previously admitted he was delighted to see how quickly the tot was growing and developing.
He said: “He great, he’s growing, he’s eating like a little pig and is doing just great.
“He even smiles. Two weeks old, he has a grin going, so something’s funny — I don’t know what.”
And while he insists he doesn’t eat a lot of chocolate, Mel recently admitted his friend Denzel Washington gave him some “brutally honest” advice at the Oscar nominee luncheon.
Mel – who will be hoping to pick up a Best Director prize this weekend to add to the same honour, which he scooped for ‘Braveheart’ in 1996 – said: “20 years ago is the last time I did one of the lunches.
“I bumped into Denzel… He was brutally honest and told me I need to go to the gym. I was like, ‘OK — you, too.'”
But if he does with the award, the Australian star – who also has seven kids, Hannah, 36, Christian, 34, Edward, 34, William, 31, Louis, 28, Milo, 26 and Thomas, 17, with ex-wife Robyn Moore and seven-year-old daughter Lucia with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva – won’t have a lot of time to celebrate as he’s very busy with work.
He said: “I think I will be working on a couple of acting gigs, and then I’m working on a directing gig that I want to get going in Europe.”

John Mayer misses plans

OHMYGOSSIP — John Mayer misses making “plans” when he’s single.
The ‘Moving On and Getting Over’ singer – who previously dated the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson and Taylor Swift – insists he is currently happy to be single, but he would like a female companion to go on road trips with.
He told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: “I thought of this on Valentine’s Day: You don’t have to be with someone to be together, and I’m enjoying being together…
“There’s a total thing I’ve had in flashes and want more of.
“The world is your Oyster, you drive, right? You have those moments.
“You still road trip on weekends? It’s great. That’s what I miss – I miss plans, I miss stuff. A man can drive to Big Sur on his own, but how lonely is that?”
John’s latest EP, ‘The Search for Everything: Wave Two’ features a sketch of a mystery girl on the cover and he admitted she is the “spiritual” representation of his dream woman.
He said: “That’s sort of like her, the spiritual her, it’s memory, it’s fantasy, it’s the other. The spiritual sort of other. In my mind, one way or another. That’s sort of the representation of her…”
The 39-year-old singer/songwriter is a big fan of TV show ‘The Bachelor’ but insists he doesn’t have time to commit to watching it any more.
He said: “I love the show, but it’s too much time to ask of me — two hours is a lot of time.
I always watch the season premiere and they go, ‘An unbelievable new Bachelor …’ and I’m like, ‘Give me more of this’. I would pay $50 if you just show me the entire season in 30 minutes.
“Get me the helicopters, girls crying, girls crying on helicopters. “If you get tears in flight, that is prime stuff.”
And Ellen suggested John himself should take part in the show, but he isn’t convinced.
He said: “I think it would be really fun to be the Bachelor… but I don’t think I would find love on there unless they changed the vetting process for who is the contestants.”
When Ellen suggested they would change the process for him, he quipped: “I think it would be one of the lowest-rated shows.”

Naomie Harris lost addiction judgements

OHMYGOSSIP — Naomie Harris’ role in ‘Moonlight’ made her reconsider her “judgments about addiction”.
The 40-year-old actress – who is nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as crack-addicted single mother Paula in the film – admits she had a “lack of understanding” about the plight of people who are dependent on drugs, but once she began researching her role, she came to understand that choice is a “luxury” that some people just don’t have.
She said: “I really couldn’t understand how people would choose drugs when they have children. But going through this whole experience has made me realise that the choices and the freedom I have are a real luxury. Many people are born into circumstances where they don’t have choices.
“I found that every crack addict I researched had been sexually abused or raped. That’s where Paula’s pain comes from..
“I learned that addiction is like a demon that overtakes you — but underneath, the beating heart of the person is still there.”
Long before she knew she was nominated for an Oscar, Naomie had chosen her “wonderfully unusual” dress and the gown, whose designer she refused to reveal – has its own handler taking it from New York to Los Angeles for this weekend’s ceremony.
Speaking to Daily Mail columnist Baz Bamigboye, Naomi said: “You don’t want your dress to be like anybody else’s.”
As well as Naomie’s nomination, ‘Moonlight’ is up for another seven Academy Awards, including the coveted Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali and Best Director for Barry Jenkins.
Meanwhile, new research has shown almost seven in ten Brits (68%) have yet to watch any of this year’s nominated films.
In a bid to help film fans decide the must-see movies, TalkTalk TV enlisted the help of a new breed of vocal and brutally honest critics – aged between five and seven.
And in a hilarious video, the 10 children watched the trailers of the nominated works and gave their own take on what they saw, such as the “cute but disgusting” kissing scenes in ‘La La Land’ and the strange appearance of a “giant surfboard” in Arrival.
Watch the video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=89YMpgsAn0o&feature=youtu.be.
The study also showed one in five Brits experience Award Season Anxiety – the feeling that there are too many good films to see and too little time to watch them all, while 27 per cent of those surveyed admitted they had only watched an Oscar-nominated film because of the hype.
A selection of previous Academy Award-winning films are available on the TalkTalk TV Store and have been discounted by up to 50 per cent.

Andrew Ridgeley can't get closure on George Michael's death

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Ridgeley won’t get “closure” from George Michael’s death until after his funeral takes place.
The ‘Praying for Time’ hitmaker was found dead at his home on Christmas Day (25.12.16) after suffering heart failure, but he can’t be laid to rest until a coroner investigating his death gets toxicology results, and George’s former Wham! bandmate admits the delay has been “difficult” for all his loved ones.
Speaking backstage at the BRIT Awards after his tribute to his late friend, Andrew told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We’ve not had closure. It’s difficult for me. It’s difficult for everyone.
“It’s a limbo period and we need to be able to move on.”
During his tribute at the BRITs this week, Andrew, 54, was joined by former backing singers Pepsi and Shirlie for a moving speech in honour of their late friend.
Andrew called him “the greatest singer songwriter” and added, “A supernova in a firmament of falling stars has been extinguished and it felt as if the sky had fallen in.”
Speaking about their friendship, he said: “We were two boys who shared a love of life-affirming music and a sense that we understood it.
“‘Careless Whisper’ was the song that got us signed, showed his extraordinary talent and the song which launched his solo career.”
And Andrew praised his friend’s music, saying: “He understood love, loss and grief and in his music, he helped to heal the wounds life left on us.”
Shirlie shared her memories of joining the pair, saying: “The three of us hung out together, listening to music and making up dance routines. These innocent moments became the seed from his amazing and enthralling showmanship was conceived.
Pepsi became tearful as she said: “We always knew that George was destined to become a star in his own right. George, Andrew and Shirlie changed my life by choosing me to join Wham!. These three amazing friends took me into their fold and there was so much laughter, fun and kindness. They were truly wonderful times and I will always cherish them. George wrote from the heart and from his own experience and his fans have shared how his music changed their lives.”
And Shirlie could not stop the tears, when she said: “The side of George that was unknown was the help he gave to charities. He gave so many people the chance to change their lives and anyone who asked for help, invariably got it.
“George was like a brother to me and I will always be so proud of his achievements. His wonderful way with words spoke to everyone and his beautiful voice will live on forever as a gift to us all.”
Andrew then said: “His is a legacy of unquestionable brilliance which will resonate years to come. I loved him and in turn, we, you have been loved.
“And so, to give voice to that which stands as George’s eulogy, one of the finest singer/songwriters of his generation, Chris Martin.”
Coldplay frontman Chris then took to the stage to sing ‘A Different Corner’. A video of George singing the song was played during the song, as their voices mixed for an unforgettable duet.

Jake Gyllenhaal's first love is music

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Gyllenhaal’s heart has always been in singing.
The 36-year-old star may have a highly successful acting career, but he admits he only pursued that because he had “wonderful luck” and his first love was always music, so he’s thrilled to be showing off his vocal talents in new Broadway revival ‘Sunday in the Park with George’.
Speaking after the opening night of the production on Thursday (23.02.17), he said: “It’s so nice to get to express myself through music, I always have in my family and I did growing up as a child throughout school.
“I had so much wonderful luck as an actor in films that how can you not move in that direction when the opportunities are there? But truly my love, my heart has always been in singing, particularly in the musical space.
“And so it’s really nice to do it finally and now people go like, ‘Oh, I guess he can do it, OK.”
Earlier this month, a video of the ‘Southpaw’ actor singing ‘Finishing the Hat’ down flights of stairs before ending up on stage went viral and putting together the clip with ‘Beasts of No Nation’ filmmaker Cary Fukunaga came about very quickly and was “totally organic”.
He told People magazine: “I called Cary and I was like, ‘Yo, wanna do a video maybe for this thing?’ And he was like, ‘I’m in, yeah.’
“It was totally organic. Literally a day and a half later we were in the theater and he said, ‘Oh it’d be really cool if you walked down the stairs.’ ”
The ‘Demolition’ star recently admitted he doesn’t understand the modern obsession with social media.
He said: “There is now an entire generation that has been raised without a sense of privacy. I often wonder what you have to bring to people if your own life is not your own. What wonderful things can you bring that you have learnt if everybody knows about all the stuff?
“We live in a different culture today, society wants to know everything and is desperate for information just, you know, to be able to discard it for something else.”

Celine Dion can't shop

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion has “never” gone shopping like an “ordinary” person.
The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer – who has sons Rene-Charles, 16, and Nelson and Eddy, six, with late husband Rene Angelil – admits her fame means she gets mobbed when she goes into stores, and even before she became a household name, the chaotic life as the youngest of 14 children meant she never had the luxury of casual browsing.
She said: “I love fashion a lot, obviously. I’m a woman on top of it, but it’s hard for me to go window shopping. That’s bad, it ain’t happening with me, there’s no window shopping. But I have such a wonderful relationship with my fans, even more than ever. People had so much compassion since Rene passed. I’ve always been accessible like an open book…
“I’ve never had the regular thing of being ordinary and going window shopping. It’s not me to want to go into a store that’s closed and opens just for me even though I love shopping too much.
“I’ve never been able to go shopping. Even when I was 11, I was at the kitchen table singing for my brothers and sisters.”
And the 48-year-old singer realised just how big a star she had become when she attempted to go shopping in Japan, and ended up having to “run” away from the store after a “little panic” developed over her presence.
She told Las Vegas Review Journal: “One time in Japan, I was shopping, and we thought it was going to be OK, but I was being followed. I turned around, they had to put up a red cable between me and the crowd.
