Kate Hudson’s movie role inspired her music passion

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Hudson has been thrilled by the response to her new album.
The 45-year-old star has just released her debut studio album, ‘Glorious’, and Kate admits that the record was partially inspired by her role in ‘Almost Famous’, Cameron Crowe’s musical drama film.
The blonde beauty – who played Penny Lane, a band groupie, in the 2000 movie – told PEOPLE: “I think [he] connected with the fact that I loved music and saw that in me, but he really blew the lid open for so much music for me. I was 19, and he just filled me with all this great music that I’d never heard.
“That was the beginning of everything for me.”
Kate social media followers have praised her new record and they’ve even drawn a link between her on-screen character and her real-life self.
The actress-turned-singer said: “I do see everybody’s response on Instagram, and there were a couple of things on there that just cracked me up. People are so funny.
“Somebody said something like, ‘It was Penny Lane the whole time.’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s so funny.’ It makes me happy that people connect to that and then are enjoying that I’m making music. That’s so nice.”
Kate has enjoyed huge success in the movie business. But she opted to pursue her musical ambitions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
She said: “I was like, ‘If I don’t do this, it’ll be a great regret.’
“Sticking to status quo is not how I’ve ever lived my life. I’ve always been fearless in the decisions I’ve made, whether it is in relationships or in career, but this was the one thing that I was so afraid of. It’s like I switched something in my brain, and I was like, ‘I’m just going to do it.'”

Anya Taylor-Joy tried to escape the ‘pressure’ of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

OHMYGOSSIP — Anya Taylor-Joy “tried not to take on the pressure” while filming ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’.
The 28-year-old actress plays Imperator Furiosa in the new ‘Mad Max’ movie, and Anya feels she was under scrutiny because she was following in the footsteps of Charlize Theron, who played Furiosa in 2015’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’.
The actress told Sky News: “I tried not to take on the pressure, only because you get paralysed with fear, like you can’t do anything, but I fell in love with Furiosa through Charlize and I feel like the character is so important that it just made me more adamant to fight for the humanity of her.”
Director George Miller acknowledged that Charlize, 48, was a tough act to follow.
But the acclaimed filmmaker was wowed by Anya’s performance in the new movie.
George said: “Anya has this presence and power. Halfway through the shoot [I noticed she was] no longer Anya, she was Furiosa.”
Anya stars in ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ alongside Chris Hemsworth, and the actress recently hailed Chris as “the most wonderful” co-star to work with.
She told Access Hollywood: “I think we’re so lucky that our relationship is nothing like the characters in this film, because making this film wanting to kill your co-star would be really difficult.
“He’s just the most wonderful, kind-hearted, big-hearted individual. We have a lot of fun. [I’m] very lucky.”
Similarly, Chris loved his experience of working with Anya.
The actor explained: “We had a rehearsal, and immediately I had the sense of how passionate you were about the character and fiercely protective of the character that she was, which only helps everybody else on set.
“Everything I was doing was then informed by Anya’s decisions.”

The Beach Boys ‘hope to do some music therapy’ with Brian Wilson

OHMYGOSSIP — The Beach Boys want to “do some music therapy” with Brian Wilson.
The 81-year-old singer is suffering from a “neurocognitive disorder” similar to dementia – but Bruce Johnston has revealed that he would still love to “bust a hit” with his former bandmate.
Bruce, 81, told The Times newspaper: “We should do some music therapy with Brian. He can’t bust a move, but he might just bust a hit.”
Despite Brian’s poor health, Mike Love is convinced that his musical talents can still shine through.
Mike said: “As long as he is alive, Brian will be able to sit at the piano and do what he does.
“He has medical supervision, he communicates with his daughters Carnie and Wendy, and you know what? We lost Dennis [Wilson] in 1983, Carl [Wilson] in 1998, and somehow the music has lasted.
“When Brian and I do get together, it really is love and harmony. And we wouldn’t have done the Beach Boys without each other.”
Earlier this month, Mike expressed hope that Brian can still make new music with the band.
The 83-year-old star – who is Brian’s cousin – believes his musical abilities are still intact and Mike would love to work with Brian once again.
Mike – who features in a new documentary about the band – told BBC Radio 4’s ‘Today’ show: “We got together at Paradise Cove (in Los Angeles) at the end of the documentary.
“He was remembering things I’d forgotten about our high school days. His long-term memory is right there.
“His musical abilities, as long as he’s alive he’ll have those, but he does need medical supervision and care. His wife did take care of that.”
Mike also intends to see his former bandmate in the near future.
He said: “[Brian] knows that he needs the help but we’re still able to get together and we‘re going to see each other soon.
“It’s not so negative as it sounds. As long as he’s cared for properly.”

Chrissy has also learned to embrace her perceived imperfections.

John Krasinski’s kids ‘think Emily Blunt is cooler’

OHMYGOSSIP — John Krasinski’s children are more impressed by their mum’s career than his.
The 44-year-old actor – who has Hazel, ten, and Violet, seven, with actress Emily Blunt – has revealed that his kids think Emily, his wife, is much cooler than he is.
John – who actually involved his children in the process of making ‘IF’, his new animated fantasy film – told PEOPLE: “When they found out I that I was going to do it, it was really exciting because it was the first time that I had ever involved them in anything.
“I was pretty sure that they thought I was an accountant before this because their mom was Mary Poppins and in ‘Jungle Cruise’. So she was off to a very biased start with our girls.”
John recently revealed how his kids inspired ‘IF’.
The actor – who wrote, produced and directed the film – observed that his kids “disappear into a magical world that we, as parents, aren’t allowed into”.
Speaking to PEOPLE, John shared: “I said to Emily, ‘That would make an amazing movie.’”
John also recalled the COVID-19 pandemic being a turning point for his children.
He explained: “They started doing fewer imaginary games, and they started to let the real world in. They started asking bigger questions and then finally said, ‘Are we going to be okay?’
“I said to Emily, ‘That’s kind of the definition of growing up, isn’t it? When you let fear in?’ I thought, ‘I have to do this movie right now to show them that magical world they created, they can go back.'”
Ultimately, John’s children were pivotal in the production process of the film.
He said: “I was just sketching all the IFs as I was writing and I would show them. I’m a terrible artist, so then once I started interfacing with real artists and talking about how it would really look, they got really excited.”

Melissa Joan Hart ‘didn’t trust herself’ as a dramatic actress

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa Joan Hart “never trusted” herself to take on dramatic roles during her younger years.
The 48-year-old actress is best-known for starring in a series of TV sitcoms – such as ‘Clarissa Explains It All’ and ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ – during her teenage years, and Melissa has now admitted that she previously lacked the confidence to take on dramatic roles.
She told PEOPLE: “I love doing these true crime movies because I never trusted myself to do drama when I was younger.
“I did, when I was really young, I was actually in one of the episodes of ‘The Equalizer’, when I was about seven years old … and did some other dramatic roles – that was easy for me when I was a child. But then, as I got more comfortable with comedy, it was harder for me to flip into drama.”
Melissa actually changed her approach to acting as she looked to branch out into new genres.
She explained: “Comedy is so much about gesturing and big facial expressions, especially on Nickelodeon. When you learn Nickelodeon acting, it’s like, do you want look number one, number two, or number three? You are trying to do the different looks and make it big.
“And then taking it down for drama was a real learning curve for me again. So it’s been really interesting to dive more into the dramatic stuff and trust myself with it.”
Meanwhile, Melissa recently revealed that she hasn’t stayed in touch with any of her ‘Clarissa Explains It All’ co-stars.
The actress shot to fame on the hit TV sitcom in the early 90s, but Melissa has lost contact with her co-stars, as the show was “pre-cell phones, pre-email, pre-everything”.
She told PEOPLE: “I don’t talk to any of the ‘Clarissa’ cast.
“The cast just kind of all went in different directions and nobody kept in touch.”

He said: “We went to Antarctica, Dubai, visited her mom in France, went to Monaco, went to Indonesia. We’ve kind of been all over.”
Shaun now has the opportunity to spend holidays and anniversaries with his friends and family.
The former sports star is thrilled that he’s able to enjoy the “little things” in life after focusing on his sports career for so many years.
He shared: “I want to be around for Thanksgiving, I want to to be around for Christmas, I want to be around for people’s birthdays, holidays.
“It’s like those little things you kind of push aside when you’re completely focused on the task at hand, which was competing.”
Shaun and Nina are actually set to be in Paris later this year to attend the Olympic Games.
However, the former athlete acknowledged that Nina, 35, might not be as enthusiastic about the Games as he is.

Reyna Roberts hails Beyonce’s impact on country music

OHMYGOSSIP — Reyna Roberts believes Beyonce has helped to raise the profile of black country artists.
The 42-year-old singer released her country-influenced album, ‘Cowboy Carter’, in March, and Reyna has praised Beyonce for changing attitudes in the country music sphere.
Reyna – who features on ‘Cowboy Carter’ – told Us Weekly: “I’m so grateful that she’s in this space and that she’s also allowed other country artists, like me, to be on the album because a lot of people don’t know about black people in country music. And just the fact that it took her bringing us up to the top to even be actually acknowledged by most people.”
Reyna believes Beyonce has already helped to transform the country music scene.
She said: “We’ve been making our own achievements and doing our own things.
“We’ve been doing great, but like, it really took Beyonce to lift us up to get the world outside of country music to see that we’re here, which has been imperative and essential.”
Similarly, Normani recently claimed that Beyonce has been a “revolutionary” force in country music.
The 27-year-old singer – who shot to stardom as part of Fifth Harmony – told ELLE.com: “Having Beyonce, a black woman in music, taking over the country space is revolutionary. Those are the types of things that I set out to do.
“Now you have country artists who look like us coming out and just being like, ‘We’ve always been here.’ I think that it’s educational not only for music lovers, but also in the black community. We’ve pioneered a lot that we don’t get recognition for.
“I think that it’s just really cool being able to witness Beyonce be fearless and do something that is much bigger than herself.
“That’s honestly what I want to see more of in every single space of the music industry, because we deserve that.
“I also want to see black women not have to fight so hard. It gets exhausting. We’re just as brilliant. We have amazing ideas, and our resilience.”

“I’ll be back before you know it. [heart emoji] (sic)”
Valerie finalised her divorce from Tom Vitale, her husband of ten years, in November 2022.

District Attorney’s Office is ‘unable to charge Diddy’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs won’t be charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office over an alleged assault in 2016.
On Friday (17.05.24), a video was released by CNN that appeared to show the rap star physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel – but the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has already confirmed that it’s “unable to charge” the music mogul.
In a statement posted on Instagram, the District Attorney’s Office said: “We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles. We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch.
“If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted. As of today, law enforcement has not presented a case related to the attack depicted in the video against Mr. Combs, but we encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or reach out to our office for support from our Bureau of Victims Services.”
The alleged assault was captured on CCTV cameras at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.
However, the hotel was permanently closed after the alleged assault took place.
InterContinental Hotels said in a statement: “This hotel is no longer under IHG management, and we do not have any access to prior incident records or footage.”
Cassie launched a lawsuit against Diddy last year, accusing the rap star of abusing her over a number of years. The former couple reached an out-of-court settlement shortly after the news became public.
However, Diddy has always maintained his innocence.
Ben Brafman, his attorney, told CNN at the time: “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs ex-assistant not ‘surprised’ by assault video footage

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ former assistant wasn’t “surprised” by video footage of him allegedly assaulting Cassie Ventura in a hotel.
The ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ hitmaker was seen in 2016 surveillance footage released by CNN on Friday (17.05.24) apparently grabbing, shoving and kicking his former girlfriend, and though Suzi Siegel – who worked for the rap mogul from 2008 to 2009 – confirmed she “never saw him speak harshly to [Cassie] or be abusive toward her or anything like that”, she admitted she always felt the “power dynamic” between the pair wasn’t right.
Explaining how she felt “sick and violently angry” after seeing the footage, Suzi told CNN: “I rode in limos with them, I went to parties with them. I guess what I would say is, even though I never saw anything that could corroborate what’s in that lawsuit and what we just saw, there was not one cell in my body that was surprised.
“I would say that I was around him a lot and I got a feeling for who he was.
“I didn’t see anything that could get him in trouble. But I think that [there’s a] power dynamic in a situation like that — especially her, at the beginning of her career, so young and beautiful and talented.”
And Suzi stressed she wasn’t mistreated by her former boss.
She said: “I didn’t see that proof.
“Obviously, I saw it with the rest of America today. But when I saw it, I knew that it was something that he could be capable of.”
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that it’s “unable to charge” the 54-year-old rapper over the “extremely disturbing” footage.
Kristin Chenoweth opens up about experiencing ‘severe’ domestic abuse

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristin Chenoweth was “severely abused” in a relationship.
The ‘West Wing’ actress has opened up about being a victim of domestic abuse after her social media followers questioned why she had pledged to “pray” for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs after hotel surveillance footage from 2016 which seemingly showed him assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura was made public.
In response to the backlash she received, Kristin wrote: “Never wanted to come out with it, but here we go. Several years ago i was severely abused. It took me therapy and prayer to understand i deserved better. I was deeply injured physically and spiritually. The only thing i knew to do when i got out was pray. Pray for myself. Pray for him as he grew up abused. So. There yall go.(sic)”
She also wrote: “It was the lowest I’ve ever been in my life”
The 55-year-old star admitted she hasn’t “forgiven” her abuser.
She wrote: “I must admit i haven’t forgiven yet. It’s beyond me. God is helping me through that part. A victim has to handle it however she-he- they needs to and is best for them.”
In her original posts, Kristin explained the footage had been “bothering” her and insisted there was “no excuse” Diddy could make, but then faced a backlash after offering to “pray” for the rap mogul.
She originally wrote on X: “There is no excuse no matter what his defense is. Heartbreaking i used to love him.”
She added in another post: “Honestly i have my reasons for the Sean Combs video bothering me so much. The main thing i need to do is pray for him.”
Acknowledging she was “taking heat” for her comments, the ‘Wicked’ actress also wrote: “Believe me i was sick when i saw it and so thankful she was ok. He is NOT. He is ill. Sick. Only God can forgive him. So forgive me but that’s how i think. And pray.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that it’s “unable to charge” the 54-year-old rapper over the “extremely disturbing” footage because too much time has passed.
Cassie launched a lawsuit against Diddy last year, accusing her ex-boyfriend of abusing her over a number of years. The former couple reached an out-of-court settlement shortly after the news became public.
However, Diddy has always maintained his innocence.

Caprice made ‘significant’ changes after brain op

OHMYGOSSIP — Caprice Bourret has “changed significantly” since she was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The 52-year-old model – who has 10-year-old sons Jax and Jett with husband Ty Comfort – underwent surgery in 2017 to remove a benign growth from the front of her skull and though she was fortunate that the tumour wasn’t cancerous, her health scare drove her to make changes to her life and commit herself with raising awareness of the condition.
She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “I was very fortunate. I had the surgery where they removed the entire growth and found out it was benign.
“But working with Brain Tumour Research, I have had relationships with a lot of people that had tumours that were cancerous.
“It is absolutely devastating. And I will keep on raising awareness, raising funds for this important charity, and find a cure so we can save lives.
“When you have a health scare like that, it is a major shake-up.
“But I never played the victim. I took responsibility and changed my lifestyle.”
Among the changes the blonde beauty made were trying to “eliminate as much stress as possible”.
She added: “Let me tell you something, you don’t have control over what happens in your environment, but you do have control over how you react to these various circumstances.”
Caprice’s wellness routine includes taking various supplements and indulging in other self-care treatments.
She explained: “I love my cold baths, my infrared light and ozone therapy.”
And Caprice loves spending time in nature.
She said: “My family and I used to have 17 horses at our property in Ibiza. It was a ranch for rescue horses. It was really lovely.”
Although she is busy juggling various business ventures, including her lifestyle brand and new acting projects, Caprice’s priority is her family.

Cat Deeley only has four hours sleep

OHMYGOSSIP — Cat Deeley survives on four hours sleep a night.
The 47-year-old presenter – who has sons Milo, eight, and five-year-old James with husband Patrick Kielty – finds it hard to switch off at the end of the day but always wakes up early, and after trying various methods in an attempt to get more shut-eye over the years, she’s grown to accept that she just doesn’t need to rest for very long.
She told Top Sante magazine: “I do struggle with early starts and with sleep too.
“Even when I was a little girl, I would wake up and have read two-thirds of a ‘Malory Towers’ book before my mum had even opened her eyes.
“I find it difficult to turn off my brain. First I make a to-do list – ‘Did I cancel the boys’ violin lesson? Have I booked tennis?’ – and then my mind just disappears into an abyss of nonsense and worrying about things I can’t control.
“I’ve tried everything too, magnesium, salt baths, pillow sprays, sleepy teas, meditation, breathing exercises.
“I’ve tried stories – as lovely as Matthew McConaughey’s voice is [on the app Calm] whispering sweet nothings in my ear, it still doesn’t work.
“I’ve just come to terms with it now and as long as I get four hours, I’m OK.”
The ‘This Morning’ presenter loves using hot and cold treatments to help stay healthy.
She explained “I love using an infrared sauna and cryotherapy chamber to boost my health.
“I go to London Cryo where I use the infrared sauna to sweat out all the rubbish.
“I have to read a magazine, so I’ve got my glasses on, and at the same time I put my legs up the wall for some lymphatic drainage – I’m so glad no one can see.
“I sit there for 45 minutes, get incredibly sweaty, wash my hair then jump into the cryo tank for three minutes.
“The chamber only goes up to your neck, so I don’t go fully in…
“I started using cryo after I had Covid when my hands were aching and sore and my joints weren’t great. It seems to be helping.
“It helps me sleep too on the days when I do it.
“I also have IV drips there, and B12 injections if I’m travelling. I try to be proactive about my health.”

Suspect charged over random attack on Steve Buscemi

OHMYGOSSIP — A man has been arrested for allegedly punching Steve Buscemi in the face.
The ‘Reservoir Dogs’ actor was wandering through the East Side of Manhattan last Wednesday (08.05.24) when he was “assaulted” and left with a swollen face in a random attack, and now the New York Police Department (NYPD) have confirmed they have taken 50-year-old Clifton Williams into custody.
The homeless man was arrested on Friday (17.05.24) and charged with second-degree assault – which is punishable by up to seven years in prison – and a police spokesperson told the New York Times newspaper the charge was elevated to a felony because of the 66-year-old actor’s age.
He is also accused of having punched a 22-year-old man around 15 minutes before the ‘Boardwalk Empire’ actor was attacked, and has been charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanour, in that case.
Police had identified Williams as a suspect earlier in the week after releasing surveillance photos of him, and when they were called to a dispute between him and another man on Friday, they recognised him and arrested him.
Following the attack on Steve, the ‘Fargo’ star was taken to hospital for bleeding, bruising and swelling to his left eye.
His publicist said in a statement at the time: “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Midtown Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city.
“He is OK and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of N.Y.”
The incident came just two months after Steve’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’ co-star Michael Stuhlbarg, 55, was attacked by a homeless man who lobbed a rock at him in Central Park in March.
Xavier Israel, 27, was taken into custody after he caused injury to the back of his neck.
The same month, Bethenny Frankel was punched in the face in a separate incident.
The 53-year-old reality star noticed a video posted onto social media by fashion design student Mikayla Toninato about her experience of being assaulted in the Big Apple and took to the comments to reveal that the same thing had happened to her.
She wrote on TikTok: “This is insane bc this happened to me a few months ago but I was embarrassed to say I was on the UWS [Upper West Side]. Insane. I was taking video of a bakery. (sic)”

Britney Spears claims broken foot is ‘better’

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears has claimed her broken foot is “better” already.
The 42-year-old singer was left injured when she fell over at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles on 2 May but despite it being bruised and swollen just a week ago, she has insisted her “stubborn” resistance to advice has paid off and she has healed well.
Alongside a video of her swollen and bruised foot, she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post: “Just last week can you believe it !!! How is it already better ???
“Well I was stubborn and did it my way !!!
“I didn’t listen to a soul !! I even wore heels at night and danced with the saints !!! (sic)”
The lengthy caption went on to detail all the things the ‘Toxic’ singer had been up to while her foot was healing, including skinny dipping in Mexico, drinking “expensive wine”, singing in her outdoor shower, and shooting videos in new outfits.
She added: “I finally told someone to their face for the first time ‘f*** you’!!
“I took night drives that pissed me off because I wasn’t at the wheel!!!”
But Britney’s vacation ended abruptly when she caught a cold and then flew home.
Her update on her foot came days after the ‘Gimme More’ hitmaker expressed her intention to avoid having surgery on her foot.
In a post on Instagram, she wrote: “Walking on a broken foot … if I go fast it goes numb … [I previously had surgery] twice for my knee and once for my foot.
“They always said it can heal on its own but theres a huge chance it can snap and break again.
“Well I always did the surgeries and it was more painful afterwards so I’m being stubborn this time … I’m gonna see if my body knows how to heal itself.”
Britney previously faced reports she was involved in a bust-up with rumoured boyfriend Paul Richard Soliz on the night she injured her foot after she was pictured barefoot and dressed only in her underwear coming out of the Chateau Marmont and being tended to by medics.
But the ‘Sometimes’ singer later insisted she hurt herself in a fall.
Britney shared a video of her swollen ankle on Instagram and explained: “I really twisted my ankle last night like an idiot – just to show proof. It’s so bad … Idiot here tries to do a leap in the living room of the Chateau and I fell – embarrassed myself – and that’s it.
“Paramedics came to my door immediately. Of course, caused this huge scene, which was so unnecessary and all I needed was ice. “It is actually pretty bad but [stuff] happens.”
