Alexandra Burke is determined to ‘work harder’ after becoming a mother

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexandra Burke is determined to “work harder” since becoming a parent.
The 36-year-old star has two children – a two year old and a 13 month old whose names she has not publicly revealed – with her footballer fiance Darren Randolph and says that motherhood has enhanced her music and acting ambitions.
Alexandra, who has made her screen acting debut in the Paramount+ crime drama ‘Curfew’, told OK! magazine: “Being a mum has made me want to work harder.
“There’s so much more I’d love to do – especially in acting. I’ve got the bug for it now.”
The ‘X Factor’ winner’s music career has taken a back seat in recent years due to her pregnancies but she insists that it is still a key priority for her.
Alexandra said: “Music is still at the forefront of my mind. And I would love to be a part of a production of ‘The Princess And The Frog’ one day – I’d love to play Princess Tiana, the first ever Black Disney princess.”
She also revealed that parenting can be so “rewarding” even though it is “chaos” raising the children at times.
Burke said of family life: “It’s chaos at times, but you need to embrace the chaos. There are ups and downs and daily challenges, but it’s so rewarding.”
The ‘Broken Heels’ singer got engaged to Darren after three years of dating last month and hailed her partner for planning the proposal “to perfection”.
She said: “Darren planned it to perfection – it was beautiful and one of the biggest moments of my life. I’m so taken aback by how amazing this man is.
“I was so taken by surprise. I thought I could tell when someone was lying, but I’m clearly rubbish at it!”
Alexandra added: “We’re definitely in the engagement bubble. The bubble is gorgeous.”

Pharrell Williams used to think he was lazy

OHMYGOSSIP — Pharrell Williams always thought of himself as “lazy”.
The ‘Happy’ hitmaker has explained how he didn’t realise that he had the necessary “drive” to go with his creative talents because he has worked in the music industry from a young age.
Pharrell told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “Everybody is born with creativity, but some are born with a pronounced connection to it. Some are born with drive. Some are creative but don’t feel the drive. Some don’t necessarily have the best creativity, but they want it so bad.
“I didn’t know I had this kind of drive. I considered myself lazy for years, but I just wasn’t inspired.
“If I’m motivated, I’ll be the first one in on Monday morning and the last one to leave on Friday night. I’ve been blessed that early on in my life, I’ve been connected to what I love.”
Pharrell’s life story is being told in Lego form in the movie ‘Piece by Piece’ and says that working on the project has enabled him to reflect on his experiences with a fresh perspective.
The 51-year-old star said: “Essentially, this movie is my dissertation on my humility. I spent most of my time being arrogant, pompous, incredibly cocky, braggadocious. That was my musical environment and that’s what I thought I needed to be.
“When I turned 40, the universe humbled me. I realised that it wasn’t all about me and I was part of a bigger equation, and was lucky not to be a word or a sentence, but just to be punctuation.
“The minute that dawns on you, you realise you’re so lucky to be in that conversation. Humility is how you get to that place.”

Prince William: ‘Africa will always have a special place in my heart’

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William has declared Africa will always have a “special place in [his] heart”.
The Prince of Wales is embarking on a four-day visit to Cape Town next week to host the fourth Earthshot Prize ceremony and ahead of the trip – which marks his first to the continent in six years and his first time in South Africa since a 2010 joint tour with brother Prince Harry – the 42-year-old royal has reflected on his memories of previous stints there.
He said in a statement: “Africa has always held a special place in my heart – as somewhere I found comfort as a teenager, where I proposed to my wife and most recently as the founding inspiration behind the Earthshot Prize.
“It was in Namibia in 2018 that I realised the power of how innovative, positive solutions to environmental problems could drive transformative change for humans and nature.”
William hopes his visit will help him shine a spotlight on those trying to change their communities and encouraged potential investors to look at funding the expansion of various environmental projects in Africa.
He added: “By the end of the week, I want The Earthshot Prize to have provided a platform to all those innovators bringing about change for their communities, encouraged potential investors to speed African solutions to scale and inspired young people across Africa who are engaged in climate issues.
“I firmly believe that if we come together with collective ambition and urgency, we can reshape the future of our planet.”
William – who has three children with wife Catherine, Princess of Wales – will unveil the five winners of the £1 million prize, as well as celebrating innovators from across the continent who are working to protect the planet for future generations.
The ceremony will take place on Wednesday (06.11.24) at a purpose-built reusable “eco dome” that was designed and engineered in South Africa and powered by renewable energy from a local wind farm.

Ryan Reynolds ‘disagrees’ with Martha Stewart

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds has hit back at Martha Stewart after she said he wasn’t funny.
The ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ star wasn’t impressed when the 83-year-old lifestyle guru – who he lives close to in Bedford, New York – claimed his wisecracking ways were part of an act but joked it wouldn’t be wise to “disagree” with her.
Responding to Martha’s viral comments, the 48-year-old actor wrote on X: “I’d disagree with her. But I tried that once.
“The woman is unexpectedly spry. She really closed the gap after a mile or so.”
Martha admitted she was “going to get in trouble” when she dissed “serious” Ryan.
Asked during an appearance on Bilt Rewards’ ‘Rent Free’ game show which celebrities respondents had thought would be fun to hang out with, she mused: “He’s probably on the list just ‘cause he covers himself up in his movies and you don’t see his face — Ryan Reynolds, is he one of those?
“And you want to know something? He’s not so funny in real life. No, he’s not so funny. He’s very serious.
“He’s a good actor.
“He can act funny, but he isn’t funny. Maybe he can get to be funny again.
“I’m going to get in trouble. He’s my neighbour.”
Ryan and his actress wife Blake Lively, 37, own a $2 million home near Martha’s 153-acre property. Martha became friends with the couple as soon as they bought their house in her neighbourhood.
She told the HuffPost in 2014: “(Blake) moved into my neighbourhood a couple of years ago with Ryan – before they got married they bought a house right around the corner from my house.
“And they started to come over, not to borrow sugar, but just as friends.
“They’re very friendly, very nice people. In a way, kind of shy – not shy on the screen, at all, if you’ve seen any of Blake’s movies – but very shy in person.”

Kelsey Parker urges Liam Payne’s family to ‘ride the waves of grief’ after his death

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelsey Parker hopes Liam Payne’s family can “ride the waves of grief” following his tragic death.
The One Direction star passed away aged 31 last month after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina and Kelsey – who lost her husband Tom Parker to brain cancer in 2022 – knows how difficult the coming weeks will be for his loved ones.
Speaking to Britain’s HELLO! magazine, Kelsey said: “Liam’s family should just take each day as it comes and do what’s best for them as a family.
“If that is all sitting down together and crying, then you do that. But it is so tough and so hard.”
Kelsey also urged Liam’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy to make the late star “proud” despite her own anguish.
She said: “When your partner is taken from you, it feels cruel and you feel as though you’ve been robbed of your future.
“So all Liam’s girlfriend can do now is make him proud. If you told me when we lost Tom that I would be where I am now, I would never have believed it because you think: ‘Oh my God, this is the end. How am I going to cope?’
“But you just have to ride the waves of grief and if it does knock you down, you’ve got try to get yourself up and build yourself back up again.”
Kelsey took solace in the fact that Tom left a legacy behind thanks to his music work with The Wanted and she hopes that Liam’s family – particularly his son Bear, seven, who he had with former partner Cheryl – can do likewise with his One Direction material.
The star – who had daughter Aurelia, five, and son Bodhi, four, with Tom – said: “I can’t speak for Liam’s family, but for me, what Tom achieved in 33 years on this planet is more than anyone would ever achieve in a lifetime.
“He’s given me stories to tell the kids and there are so many videos. It’s the same for Liam’s son Bear – the children have so much footage to remember their dads.”

Addison Rae hopes to inspire young people to ‘chase their dreams’

OHMYGOSSIP — Addison Rae wants to “inspire” young people to “chase” their “dreams”.
The ‘Aquamarine’ singer first shot to fame on social media but embarked on a career in music in 2021 with her debut single ‘Obsessed’ and has since had a global hit with ‘Diet Pepsi’ this year and collaborated with the likes of Charli XCX on the ‘Von dutch’ remix.
The 24-year-old pop star and social media personality – who has amassed 88.8 million followers on TikTok and 34.5 million on Instagram – has spent the past “few years” figuring out what she wants out of her life and career and is now living her dream.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, she said of her journey so far: “I’ve gotten to a place in the last few years where I’ve felt really confident about following my instinct and leaning on myself. It’s been a nice few years finding what I wanted to do with my life and my career.”
One piece of advice the 24-year-old singer wants to give to her impressionable young fans is not to give up on their dreams and to never let anyone try to “put you in a box”.
She said: “I’ve worked on everything that I’ve wanted to and really honed in on things that are important to me and have been for so long, and things that never really felt possible or realistic growing up have become such a priority to make real for me.
“If I can inspire any young people to do anything, I think it’s that no matter how much people try to put you in a box, that doesn’t have to define you and you can chase your dreams.”

Sabrina the Teenage Witch star almost bitten by alligator on set

OHMYGOSSIP — Beth Broderick was an “inch” away from being bitten by an alligator filming an episode of ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’.
The 65-year-old actress – who starred as Melissa Joan Hart’s titular character’s aunt Zelda Spellman in the supernatural sitcom from 1996 until 2003 – could have ended up with a nasty injury when she had to walk with the reptile on a leash for one scene.
The crew didn’t feel the alligator was “moving enough” and decided to poke it – but the animal went berserk.
Fortunately, it bit a sofa and not Beth.
She recalled to PEOPLE: “And the people didn’t think the alligator was moving enough, and it didn’t look real enough.
“It was very real, and so they started poking it, and it got mad, and it whipped around and missed me by an inch and bit the sofa and wouldn’t let go.
“I was like okay, that could be my leg. Okay, let’s not poke the alligator anymore.”
Turns out, it wasn’t the only “crazy” incident involving an animal.
As well as a lion walking through an electric fence and running wild, the show’s costumer had to tussle with a chicken to dress it in a tuxedo.
Beth recalled: “I was walking from my trailer to the set one day and I hear this crazy commotion in the costume room, and I look in, and our costumer Diane is trying to measure a chicken for a tuxedo, and that chicken did not want to wear a tuxedo.
“It was just the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. And I just thought to myself, who else goes to work and sees that?”
She added: “I mean, that is kind of a singular experience.
“And it ended up wearing that tuxedo, it did it. But I don’t think he liked it.”
These days, studios rely on technology such as CGI for these kinds of scenes, but Beth said they had more fun making “magic out of thin air”.
She said: “It was a wild show. You had to shoot everything in real time and practical effects and stuff. It was quite an experience and one you can never forget.
“That’s the way the show was, you made magic out of mole hills … made magic out of thin air.”

Todd Phillips suggests cutting commercials from cinema

OHMYGOSSIP — Todd Phillips has called for cinemas to stop showing adverts before movies.
The 53-year-old director – whose latest movie ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ bombed at the box office – believes airing commercials before the feature film dampens moviegoers’ anticipation and excitement for the main event.
He told Empire magazine: “Stop showing commercials before the movies.
We’ve paid for our tickets. We’re excited to be there. The commercials tend to take the air out of the room.”
Meanwhile, Todd previously blamed “woke culture” for ruining comedy filmmaking.
He made his name in Hollywood with outrageous comedies such as ‘Road Trip’, ‘Old School’ and ‘The Hangover’ trilogy but he won’t be returning to the genre in a hurry because he doesn’t want to deal with a social media witch hunt if people are offended by a perceived politically incorrect joke.
In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine in 2019, he said: “Go try to be funny nowadays with this woke culture. There were articles written about why comedies don’t work anymore – I’ll tell you why, because all the f****** funny guys are like, ‘F*** this s***, because I don’t want to offend you.’ It’s hard to argue with 30 million people on Twitter.”
Todd admitted it was his previous work in the comedy genre and reluctance to return to it that inspired 2019’s ‘Joker’.
He said: “With all my comedies – I think that what comedies in general all have in common – is they’re irreverent. So I go, ‘How do I do something irreverent, but f*** comedy? Oh I know, let’s take the comic book movie universe and turn it on its head with this.’ And that’s really where it came from.”

Cardi B hits back at Elon Musk after he branded her one of Kamala Harris’ ‘puppets’

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B is locked in a feud with Elon Musk after he called her one of Kamala Harris’ “puppets”.
The 53-year-old billionaire businessman accused the 32-year-old rapper of being “fed words” when she was giving a speech at the Democrat’s rally at the Wisconsin State Fair Exposition Center on Friday (01.11.24) and had an awkward wait when her teleprompter broke.
Elon reposted a video of Cardi at the rally to his micro-blogging site X and wrote: “Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words.
“The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy.”
Cardi swiftly defended herself and accused the Tesla boss of “knowing nothing” about the “American struggle”.
She responded: “I’m not a puppet Elon.. I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you….But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle…. (sic)”
She then quipped: “PS fix my algorithm.”
The ‘WAP’ hitmaker’s speech went on for around 10 minutes and she ended up reading from her smartphone.
She began: “I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life.
“I take seriously the call to show up, to speak out, and to share a message that’s been on my heart for a while now.”
She went on: “Like Kamala Harris, I’ve been the underdog, underestimated, and had my success belittled. Women have to work ten times harder and still face questions about how we achieved success. I can’t stand a bully, but just like Kamala, I always stand up to one.”
Before Kamala was in the race for presidency, Cardi had no plans to vote for Joe Biden or Donald Trump, but the former – who will become the first Black female president of the United States if she is successful in the November 5 election – “changed” her “mind completely.”
She explained: “I didn’t have faith in any candidates until she joined and spoke the words I wanted to hear about the future of this country.
“I believe every word she says. She’s passionate, compassionate, empathetic, and most importantly, she’s realistic. Kamala recognises that this country is at risk, and that we need to strengthen our economy and address the rising cost of living.”
She then laid into Trump’s lack of respect for women’s rights and branded him a “hustler”.
She said: “Protection for women — especially regarding maternal and mental health care — is not about telling us what to do with our bodies. It’s about supporting us and providing the care we need for our choices.
“People like Donald Trump don’t believe women deserve rights. When those rights are threatened, he disappears.
“If his definition of protection means restricting our choices and ensuring our daughters have fewer rights than our mothers, then I don’t want it!”
Cardi continued: “Hustling women out of their rights is disgraceful. Hustling Americans out of their hard-earned money by selling Trump watches, Trump sneakers, Trump Bibles… do we really trust this man with our economy? A man who only cares about getting rich and cutting taxes for his billionaire friends. I don’t even get a tax cut.”

Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek has colorectal cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — James Van Der Beek has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
The ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star, 47, has been “privately dealing with the diagnosis” and has reassured fans he is making the necessary “steps to resolve it” and is feeling optimistic.
He told PEOPLE: “I have colorectal cancer. I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family.
“There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good.”
Colorectal cancer develops in either the rectum or the colon.
James didn’t disclose what stage his cancer is or his course of treatment.
The actor – who has six children with his wife Kimberly – has been on screen recently in an episode of The CW action-drama series ‘Walker’ and is also set to appear in the movie ‘Sidelined: The QB and Me’ on streaming service Tubi later this month.
James’ cancer diagnosis comes four years after he lost his mother.
He was left devastated in the summer of 2020 when his parent died after a long battle with ill health.
Writing a poignant tribute at the time, he wrote: “My mom crossed over last week. Even though we knew this was coming – and had actually thought we were at the end nearly a year and a half ago – I’m still in shock. I’m grateful she’s no longer in pain, I’m sad, I’m angry, I’m relieved … all at once and in different moments. Just trying to hold space and allow for it all.”
After his mom’s death, James and his family relocated to Texas from Los Angeles.
James shot to fame as the titular heartthrob Dawson Leery on The WB’s hit teen drama ‘Dawson’s Creek’ between 1998 and 2003.

Jesse Metcalfe prefers dating non-celebrities

OHMYGOSSIP — Jesse Metcalfe says dating someone outside of show business is a “good balance” for him.
The 45-year-old actor has been seeing real estate agent Helene Immel for almost a year now, and insists he prefers being in a relationship with someone who doesn’t work in the “crazy” entertainment world.
He told PEOPLE: “It’s always a good balance for someone in this crazy business to date someone outside of the entertainment industry.”
Jesse’s exes include Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle, 39, ‘Bachelor’ star Courtney Robertson, 41, Playboy Playmate Colleen Shannon, 46.
Elsewhere, Jesse – who shot to fame playing John Rowland on ‘Desperate Housewives’ between 2004 and 2009 – admits he feels in “better shape now” than when he starred on the show and prefers how he looks with a few extra pounds.
He said: “Yeah, I think I’m in better shape now. I sort of had that youthful, kind of thinner physique. I’ve since put on a couple pounds, but in a good way.”
The ‘John Tucker Must Die’ star loves working out as it’s a “stress reliever” for him, and he never feels good about himself when he skips the gym.
He added: “The most important thing about [working out] for me is that it just kind of keeps my mind right.
“On the days when I have a busy morning and I don’t get to the gym till the afternoon, I can feel that.
“It’s a stress reliever, and it’s always been an anchor for me, you know, since I started working out when I was 14 or 15.”
Meanwhile, Jesse recently confessed he “always” laughed during his ‘Desperate Housewives’ sex scenes with Eva Longoria.
The 49-year-old actress played Gabrielle Solis on the ABC show from 2004 to 2012, and the actor said their on-screen romps left him elated and giggly.
He told the outlet: “Every day was an out-of-body experience, honestly, because you got to drive onto the Universal Studios lot where Wisteria Lane was.
“There was a lot of making out. There were a lot of sex scenes and a lot of making out between Eva and I.
“And although those scenes could be awkward at times, we were always laughing. So, we always had a great time. We didn’t take it too seriously, that’s for sure.”
Jesse added about the fact the show is 20 years old: “Oh, I feel old. I had the best time on that show.
“The show was huge. I had everything thrown at me under the sun. I mean, all the perks of new fame and being 24, 25 years old, just riding that crazy wave. Everything was amazing.”

Broadway theaters to dim lights in tribute to Maggie Smith

OHMYGOSSIP — Broadway theaters will “dim their lights” in memory of the late great Dame Maggie Smith.
It’s a traditional tribute for late stars of the stage and the ‘Harry Potter’ star – who made her Broadway debut in 1956 portraying several roles in the revue of ‘New Faces of ’56’ at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre – will be honoured with a minute’s silence as the lights go out before performances at 6.45pm on November 7.
Robert E. Wankel, Chairman and CEO of the Shubert Organization, a major owner of theatres in New York City, told Deadline: “Maggie Smith was a singular talent, whose artistry graced stages and screens alike with unmatched depth and wit.
“Her legacy as a remarkable actor and an inspiration to countless performers is indelible. Broadway joins her admirers worldwide in mourning her loss and celebrating her remarkable contributions. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who were touched by her work.”
The ‘Downton Abbey’ star passed away in September at the age of 89.
A statement by her two sons, Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens, read: “She passed away peacefully in hospital early this morning, Friday 27th September. An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end. She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their care and unstinting kindness during her final days.
“We thank you for all your kind messages and support and ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”
Maggie moved to Oxford when she was four after her father got a job at Oxford university and later left school to study acting at the Oxford Playhouse.
She was 17 when she was cast as Viola in ‘Twelfth Night’ at the Oxford Playhouse and she went on to land roles in ‘Cinderella’, ‘Rookery Nook’, ‘Cakes and Ale’ and ‘The Government Inspector’ through the early 1950s at the same English theatre.
From there, Maggie was cast opposite Kenneth Williams in the 1957 musical comedy ‘Share My Lettuce’ and that led to work in plays at London’s Old Vic theatre and ultimately a place in Laurence Olivier’s National Theatre Company. The two acting legends stared opposite one another in a production of William Shakespeare tragedy ‘Othello’.
Her film debut came in 1956 in an uncredited role of a party guest in the drama ‘Child in the House’, but it was in 1959 that she made her name on the screen thanks to her performance as Bridget Howard in the film ‘Nowhere to Go’ which earned Maggie the first of her five BAFTA trophies, while in 1996 she was honoured with the prestigious BAFTA Academy Fellowship.
In 1969, Smith won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the title role of the 1969 film ‘The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie’.
Her second and final Oscar came in 1978 when she was named Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Diana Barrie in Herbert Ross’ anthology film ‘California Suite’.

Michael Caine recalls a ‘young’ Tom Cruise asking him for career advice

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Michael Caine has revealed Tom Cruise came to him for advice when he was starting out in Hollywood.
The 91-year-old screen icon has revealed that around the time of the Hollywood star’s standout performance in 1981’s ‘Risky Business’, the ‘Mission Impossible’ star, 62, picked his brain on how to achieve longevity in the acting business.
Caine quipped that whatever it was that he told him didn’t do him “any harm” and insists he always knew Cruise was destined for big things.
He told The Sunday Times newspaper: “I turned around and there was this young actor, very polite, asking questions about how not to be just a flash in the pan. That was Tom, probably around the time of Risky Business.
“I can’t remember what I said, but it obviously didn’t do him any harm! There was something special about him. He had a great attitude, this sense of poise. What interests me is that he is really one of the last true stars in movies. People will go to see a film just because he’s in it. Brad Pitt is a star, Morgan Freeman has some of that quality too. There are so few nowadays — not like John Wayne or Humphrey Bogart or Cary Grant.”
The pair have remained friends all these years later, and he was “very touched when his wife, Shakira, Lady Caine, 77, had Tom be a surprise guest at his 90th birthday last March.
He added: “[Shakira] arranged for Tom Cruise to come to my dinner at the River Café as a surprise. I was very touched.”
Caine has starred in more than 160 films over a career that spanned eight decades but retired from acting after last year’s ‘The Great Escaper’ because he doesn’t want to play the “old man”.
He told the BBC’s ‘Today’ programme: “I keep saying I’m going to retire, well I am now, because I figured, I’ve had a picture which is — I played the lead and it’s got incredible reviews. The only parts I’m liable to get now are old men, 90-year-old men, and I thought well I might as well leave with all this. I’ve got wonderful reviews. What am I going to do to beat this?”

Kathryn Hahn doesn’t need ‘sex appeal’ to land roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathryn Hahn believes not being chosen for roles for her “sex appeal” has opened more doors for her.
The 51-year-old actress is known for comedies such as ‘Step Brothers’ and ‘Bad Moms’ and has also taken on dramas including ‘Revolutionary Road’ and ‘Captain Fantastic’.
Kathryn is “eternally grateful” to have been offered more “complicated parts” and believes not relying on her looks as her “currency” has been a blessing for her career.
Appearing on NPR’s ‘Wild Card with Rachel Martin’ to discuss playing Agatha Harkness in Marvel’s ‘Agatha All Along’, she was asked about ageism in Hollywood and how women can be viewed as “losing their power” at a certain again.
When the interviewer suggested that the spin-off to ‘WandaVision’ sticks a middle finger to age discrimination, Kathryn agreed because most of the female cast members are 40 and over.
She replied: “All the women are over 40. So it does feel like a really radical thing that we’ve been able to pull off. Though, because my currency in this business wasn’t my sex appeal, I feel like I’ve been able to just kind of walk into more complicated parts, and I am eternally grateful for that.”
Patti LuPone, 75, and Debra Jo Rupp, 73, and Aubrey Plaza, 40, are among the female stars of ‘Agatha All Along’.
On the “control” she has gained over her career later in life, she added: “I really don’t feel powerless. I feel actually more powerful than I did in my twenties or early thirties in this business. I definitely feel I have more control over my choices. I have more say. I’m definitely not as afraid to say it, which is really freeing.”

“I can pretty much do what I want. I have learned so much about myself in the last few years.”
The ‘Great Gatsby’ star – who was also married to Big Audio Dynamite keyboardist Dan Donovan and ’80s pop star Jeremy Healy – admits it’s “hard” having an empty nest and so she is focusing on her career.

It’s hard to have an empty nest. I have to reprogram myself – I am not drinking, I don’t want to stay out and go wild but I need to find something to fulfil me.”
The former soap star – who has had parts in ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘EastEnders’ – admits it’s often assumed she has a lot of money because of her famous exes, but she has had to completely rebuild her life after her failed skincare venture left her with nothing.
