Macaulay Culkin is ‘reinventing’ his ‘complicated relationship’ with Father’s Day

OHMYGOSSIP — Macaulay Culkin is trying to “reinvent” his “complicated relationship with Father’s Day”.
The ‘Home Alone’ actor – who has sons Dakota, three, and a baby boy whose name has not been revealed publicly with fiancee Brenda Song – has been candid about his struggles with his own dad Kit Culkin in the past, but he has reflected on the upcoming holiday on June 16.
Alongside a photo of a ‘Star Wars’ Father’s Day gift box from Lucasfilm, he wrote on Instagram: “If you know a little about me then you’d know I’ve had a complicated relationship with Father’s Day in the past.
“But since becoming a papa myself I’ve decided to reinvent the wheel. Other than getting an hour or two of extra sleep I try to make the day a celebration of my boys more than me.
“After all, they are the ones who made me a father (no offense to Brenda).”
The 43-year-old star joked that Father’s Day in his home falls somewhere between birthdays or Christmas and the likes of Valentine’s Day or the 4th of July.
He continued: “In our house Father’s Day isn’t held in as a high regard as birthdays or Christmas but it does mop the floor of such holidays as St. Patrick’s day, Valentine’s Day, and the 4th of July.
“I try to do fun things for the boys on Father’s Day. It’s a special day.
“All of this is a way to say thank you to @lucasfilm for sending me a care package full of things that are more meant for my children to enjoy (with the exception of the hot sauce).
“Father’s Day isn’t for me, it’s for the people that make me feel like a father.”
Macaulay has been open about his estranged relationship with his father, which was “sour from early on”, and only worsened when he found success as a child star.
Back in 2001, he told New York Magazine: “I was making God-knows-how-much money, and Kit was making me sleep on the couch, just because he could.
“Just to let you know who’s in charge and just to let you know if he doesn’t want you to sleep in a bed, you’re not going to sleep in a bed.”
By the age of 16, the actor emancipated himself from his parents and took control of his life, while he has alleged his father was “physically and mentally” abusive.
He told Marc Maron in 2018: “He was jealous. Everything that he tried to do in his life, I excelled at before I was 10 years old.”

“I think that’s probably why I’ve never seen a therapist, [it] is because I have the best friends in the entire world, and they mean everything to me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Normani has bittersweet memories of her time in Fifth Harmony.
The 28-year-old singer joined the chart-topping girl group – which also featured Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui, and Camila Cabello – as a teenager, but Normani admits that it was a challenging experience at times.
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, Normani shared: “I’m grateful for all of it, even the moments where I might’ve felt inadequate or less than. It definitely has a lot to do with why I am the way that I am.”
The ‘Wild Side’ hitmaker acknowledges that she struggled with her confidence during her time in the group.
Normani – who launched her solo career after the group announced their hiatus in 2018 – said: “It definitely took a toll on my confidence.
“Would I do some things differently or wish that some things were done differently? Of course, but I also don’t want to sit here and make it sound like it wasn’t part of my story.”
Normani feels proud of what Fifth Harmony managed to achieve together. However, she also believes that they faced unrealistic expectations.
The singer explained: “We were babies. We were so innocent and I think that is the struggle, to your point, of just us having to face reality under very unrealistic circumstances. I always say we did the very best we could with what we had, so that I’m proud of.”
Normani accepts that her time in the group “wasn’t all bad”.
The ‘Motivation’ hitmaker has also managed to erase some of her painful memories from her mind.
She said: “There’s so much that I don’t even remember because I suppressed it. That’s just my way of protecting myself from having to deal with everything.
“But what I do remember is it wasn’t all bad. Like yeah, we struggled, but it was also really beautiful in what we accomplished together.”

“It’s such a great memory… He always sends me the same thing every year.

“And then he said a few years ago that he likes sort of that moment of checking in like once a year.
“It’s so thoughtful, and I really appreciate it.”

“Like, my personality has changed so much in terms of who I thought I was. Like, at 18, I was like, ‘I’m going to be married at 25.’ You know what I mean?
“And then it was like, ‘You know, I only had one boyfriend my whole life.’ Then it’s like, ‘He’s crazy as hell.’
“Like, now I’ve got five boyfriends and now I’m already 27. I ain’t even realised that I need to pick one.
“Like, it was always this different thing. And so it’s really interesting how our experiences continue to challenge who we think we want to be.”
The ‘Nope’ star previously explained that becoming a mother had made her “life so worth living” and things had always seemed “so painful” for her before.
Sharing a selection of photos and videos of Leodis, she wrote on Instagram on Leo’s first birthday “Leo Beo!! Happy Birthday son I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
“You came into my life today at 3:25pm, but I knew even before then that you were the strongest person I ever knew.
“There were so many moments during my pregnancy where your silent strength would give me peace. This is something you still do just with your mere existence!
“You make my life so worth living. If I’m being honest I have always teeter tottered with life. I have just always been so annoyed by it and the ups and the downs and it has always seemed so painful for trivial reasons.”
Keke always had a “bitter feeling” about how she wanted life to be, but becoming a mother has given her “purpose”.
She continued: “Things could be so simple and they’re not and that always gave me a bitter feeling.
“But since you my son, I have no confusion on why I am here! On my purpose or my value or why I should stay.
“I wanna stay for you. I want to be here to love and protect you and watch you be the good in this world!”

Abbi told Cultured magazine: “We had planned an outdoor ceremony and dinner, but we had to pivot.
“It was such kismet, because the ceremony was not what we expected, but it was exactly what we’d hoped for. People were packed together.
“When we looked out at the audience, our friends were on stools, peeking through the plants, and sitting on top of the booths. I’ve never been to a wedding like that.”
The actresses had fun surprising their guests at the wedding reception.
Jodi, 37, explained “We decided to make the party a surprise. After dinner, the Westerlies burst out of the kitchen playing Stevie Wonder’s “Sir Duke.” We followed them from the dining room to the dance floor in the sound room, where Matt FX [music supervisor on ‘Broad City’] started DJing.
“I also surprised Abbi by asking our friends Lukas [Frank] and Zach [Dawes] to perform ‘True Love Will Find You in the End.’..
“It really was ‘one of those nights’. We were in a dark wooden room with no windows, an insane sound system, and a disco ball.
“Everyone’s nice clothes became wet rags. People were smoking who don’t smoke. Our moms did the hora. It was like we all existed in a different dimension for a while.”
Abbi, 40, added: “Our first dance was to Aretha Franklin’s “Don’t Let Me Lose This Dream.” My dress destroyed Jo’s tights within 35 seconds.”

The 39-year-old star has been single for over two years since her on/off romance with Tristan Thompson – the father of her children True, six, and 21-month-old Tatum – came to an end but she’s not interested in finding a new partner right now because of her routine with her kids.
Speaking on the latest episode of ‘The Kardashians’, she said: “Once I’m done with the kids at nine, I have limited time. I have to be up with the kids at 4:30… that’s my time!
“I’m not sharing it with a man. I’m not sharing my TV. I’m not sharing my bed.”
And she later noted: “I’m exhausted. I don’t want anything. I actually just want to lay in bed, watch my shows, decompress, get up, do my work. I don’t want anyone stopping my routine.”
The Good American founder also admitted she doesn’t know how to date as a parent.
She said in a confessional: “Let’s just say I’m dating. I have no idea how you’re supposed to date with kids because I’m not bringing you to my home where my kids are, and I’m not going to your home where you’re gonna chop me up in your basement and kill me and I’m also not going to a public restaurant or space where people can take pictures and you’re gonna be another notch on my belt in the public’s eyes. I don’t think so.”
But during her conversation with Scott Disick, Khloe insisted she wasn’t off dating forever, though she isn’t looking “right now”.
She said: “Eventually in life! You think I’m just gonna be celibate for the rest of my life?”
Scott – who has three children with Khloe’s sister Kourtney Kardashian – admitted: “I feel like we both are. I don’t know, with all these kids running around it’s not so sexy.”

And Khloe is relieved the 33-year-old basketball star’s playing career has now taken him back to Cleveland, though she acknowledged it was “good for the kids” to have him living nearby in Los Angeles.
She admitted: “I do love that it’s good for the kids.
“But now that he’s in Cleveland, this is really, really healthy for us ’cause when he was next door, he was always over… he loved the routine and I was like, ‘F***’.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ronan Keating is leaving his radio show.
The former Boyzone singer has made the “very difficult” decision to step down from ‘Magic Radio Breakfast’, which he has co-hosted with Harriet Scott for seven years, at the end of July.
He announced on the show on Thursday (06.06.24): “It’s been very difficult for me to come to this conclusion, and to make this decision. I wanted our listeners, our Magic Breakfast listeners and our Magic Radio listeners be the first to know.
“That after seven years and so many incredible shows, I’ve decided to stand down from ‘Magic Breakfast’ at the end of July.
“I have loved every single minute, this has not been an easy decision at all. I came on board as you know [Harriet] for a year, maybe two and I’ve loved the job so much that I’ve stayed here for seven.
“We’ve had an amazing time and we’ve been through some incredibly emotional times with people at home. Those two years that the world changed. It was an honour to be able to be in people’s homes and communicate with them like we did.”
The ‘Life Is a Rollercoaster’ hitmaker is planning to go back to his music career and be more present for his family, including wife Storm and their young kids Cooper, seven, and Coco, four, as well as Jack, 25, Missy, 23, and Ali, 19, who he has with first wife Yvonne.
He added: “So yeah, although I won’t be waking the nation up anymore with you [Harriet], I look forward to, I guess reconnecting with what I did before this – you know getting back to my music and touring.
“Even though I’ve been doing it, trying to do both together has not been easy at times.
“And getting back to being with my family – you know doing school runs and those things that I’ve missed out on. Waking up with my wife in the morning, you know? I know it sounds ridiculous but it’s really important and I’ve missed that.”
Ronan’s final show on Magic Radio Breakfast will be 31st July, and he is set to “remain a friend of the station”.
Harriet is set to stay on the programme, with further show news to follow soon.

David Bowie had biscotti and espresso obsession

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie swapped drug binges for biscuits in his later years.
The ‘Space Oddity’ hitmaker – who died of cancer in January 2016 – and his guitarist Earl Slick downed espresso and tucked into biscotti to keep them going through the night when recording his 2013 album ‘The Next Day’, a drastic change from the wild partying and illegal substances that had powered them through in the 1970s.
Writing in his new book ‘Guitar’, Earl revealed in an extract obtained by the Daily Mirror newspaper: “During those sessions for ‘The Next Day’, we were older, obviously, and there was no dope. None. By 2012 we had long-time sobriety. It wasn’t even a part of our lives any more. But what we were doing then was hammering espresso.”
The 71-year-old musician – whose real name is Frank Madeloni – explained they had developed their habit in the early 2000s when recording and rehearsing in New York.
He continued: “At a great bakery that’s been there forever called Bella Ferrara, a little, old-school place, I’d pick up biscotti, which are insanely good, and bring them to the rehearsals.
“David would smash a whole box of them. He’d kill them. Along with his espresso, of course. When we got to ‘The Next Day’, on my first day I stopped at the bakery and picked up biscotti. David picked up pastries from Dean + DeLuca, and we had an espresso machine in the studio, and we just hammered the s*** out of all of it.
“We had a very big control room, and we made ourselves at home and were like pigs in s***.
“In the old days, we would have done the same thing, only with different substances. We’d sit in the control room and blow our brains out and not start working till hours later. Sometimes days later.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Reese Witherspoon refuses to call Laura Dern by her first name to avoid confusion with her own real moniker.
The ‘Legally Blonde’ actress has admitted she has to call her ‘Big Little Lies’ co-star by her surname, although their castmate Nicole Kidman thinks it “sounds so weird”.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Nicole said: “I hate how you call her Dern. It sounds so weird.
“I’m always like ‘Laura,’ and you’re like ‘No, Dern, Dern,’ and I’m like, ‘Why?'”
Reese quickly interjected: “‘Cause my name is Laura, and her name’s Laura, and it’s confusing to me. My real name’s Laura Jeanne.
“So, I get confused so I just call her Dern. Because we can’t both be Laura.”
Nicole, 56, forgot her castmates share the same first name, but she was still confused by the whole situation.
She pointed out: “She doesn’t even call you Laura, though.”
Reese, 48, quipped: “You’re trying to understand something that just makes no sense.”
Her full name is actually Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, and she took on her mother’s maiden name when she started acting in the 1990s.
Fans were shocked by the revelation, with plenty of people replying on Instagram to voice their amazement.
One fan replied: “Reese Witherspoon’s real name is Laura Jeanne and I feel LIED to.”
Another follower joked: “I was today years old when I found out Reese’s real name is Laura lmao.”
And a third person laughed: “Today I learned Reese Witherspoon is Laura Jean. What is LIFE? (sic)”
Reese first got her start in showbusiness aged seven with a role in a florist’s commercial, and by aged 14 she was making her feature film debut in 1999 movie ‘The Man on the Moon’.

Kate Garraway comforted by D-Day veteran at 80th anniversary service

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway was comforted by a D-Day veteran over the death of her husband Derek Draper.
The 57-year-old television presenter was in northern France on Thursday (06.06.24) to front UK channel ITV’s coverage of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, and she spoke to 100-year-old war veteran John Life about his memories from 1944.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ after their interview; she said: “One of the first things he said was: ‘I’m so sorry for your loss’ to me, about the passing of Derek, my husband.
“The idea that he knew that and thought of that with all that he’d been through, I just said to him, ‘There would have been no Derek as it was, there would have been no me, there would have no any of our lives without what you did.’ ”
Kate’s husband Derek died in January aged 56 following a four year health battle after contracting COVID-19 in 2020.
She admitted the emotional exchange between herself and John, a former Bombardier in the Royal Artillery, left him in tears.
She added: “He cried, we held hands. It’s hard to overstate really how important it is for them that we remember, and how important it is for us that we remember too.”
As part of the anniversary service in France, King Charles and Queen Camilla led a silent prayer for D-Day veterans.
Speaking at the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer, the monarch hailed the wartime generation as “remarkable”, and voiced his “profound sense of gratitude” for those who fought in the Second World War.
French President Emmanuel Macron was also there, along with British Prime Minister Rish Sunak, as they laid wreathes of poopies at the memorial while a brass band performed Elgar’s Nimrod, as well as the national anthems of both the UK and France.

Kate Winslet sent ‘flirtatious’ voicemails to The Regime producer

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Winslet left “flirtatious” voicemails for ‘The Regime’ producer and director.
The 48-year-old actress plays fictional dictator Chancellor Elena Vernham in HBO’s new six part political satire, and she has revealed how she honed her accent to make sure she didn’t sound like herself for the role.
Appearing at an FYC panel this week, she said: “It never made sense to me to speak like myself.
“I didn’t quite know what that meant, or what I was going to do about it. I just knew that I had to find something that didn’t feel too close to me.”
Initially, Kate would experiment at home, but her family begged her not to and joked it “actually made their ears bleed”.
She then started to send voicemails to Jessica Hobbs, to build up her confidence before trying it out with Jessica’s co-producer and director Stephen Frear.
She explained: “I knew he was just going to have an opinion, and once it was out of his mouth, I wouldn’t be able to unhear it, and so I shared it with Jess [Hobbs], who was very positive in her response.
“So I sat Stephen down [and tried out the voice]. ‘Do you see if I just maybe did that? And then a little bit and talk to you slightly flirtatiously, I could probably get you to do anything…’
“Luckily, he was laughing. He looked at me, and he said, ‘You’ve got to do that for six months.’ ”
The ‘Titanic’ star also changed her accent for HBO series ‘Mare of Easttown’ as she played a character from Pennsylvania’s Delaware County.
She admitted putting that much thought into the voice was quite intense, but she knew she needed to pull it off properly.
Back in 2021, she told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “It’s interesting, because I realise that as I was learning the dialect it was definitely affecting the emotional register of the voice I was finding for Mare.
“Because she was born there, she was raised there, I had to do it pretty darn well. It was a little crazy-making, I’m not going to pretend it wasn’t.”

The 43-year-old actress and her husband Cash Warren recently celebrated 16 years of marriage but she’s admitted they have had their issues over the years but they understand that relationships “ebb and flow” and they will always reconnect with one another.
Spekaing on SiriusXM’s ‘The Morning Mash Up’, she said: “We found each other.
“I think, you, in love, right? You go through that two and a half years, which is not real and then after two and a half years, the reality of what your relationship is comes together and you are either gonna choose to be a family or not.
“I think with chosen family, you ebb and flow and I think the more you ebb and flow, the more you realise that the hard times aren’t gonna be as, it’s not gonna be permanent. You can find your way back to each other.
“It’s messy and it’s hard and it’s, you know, humbling and all of that, but if you can figure out how to just find your way back to each other, it ends up being worth it.”
Jessica – who has Honor, 15, Haven, 12, and six-year-old Hayes with her spouse – thinks the long history between herself and Cash has only added to their bond.
She noted: “There’s something so cool about that history.”
And the ‘Sin City’ actress can’t imagine her life without her husband.

‘Distinct and annoying’: Kim Kardashian hates the sound of her own voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian thinks she has an “annoying” voice.
The 43-year-old reality star made her first steps into acting with a role in ‘American Horror Story: Delicate’ and she’s already got another part lined up in another show being developed by Ryan Murphy, so she hopes she gets to adopt a different accent for the project because she hates the way she sounds.
Asked if she would do an accent by Chloe Sevigny for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, she said: “I would be open to it, especially because I find my voice is so just distinct and annoying.”
Chloe replied: “Don’t we all find our voices annoying? But yeah, because people know you — I mean, they know the way you move, the way you talk, because you’ve been on camera for so long. Trying to hide within a character must pose a different set of challenges.”
For her role as publicist Siobhan in ‘American Horror Story’, Kim sought inspiration from her sister Kourtney Kardashian Barker, but on seeing her scenes again, she wasn’t surprised when people thought she’d been channeling her mom, Kris Jenner.
She said: “It’s funny, I was really channeling my sister Kourtney and someone that I work with. And everyone, when it came out, they were like, ‘That is Kris Jenner all the way.’
“And I was like, ‘I guess I had that preparation already, but it’s not what I was thinking.’ But I so see it now.”
Kim’s family previously featured as characters in ‘American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson’, with David Schwimmer portraying the brunette beauty’s late father, O.J’s friend and lawyer Robert Kardashian.
The Skims founder was amazed at just how showrunner Ryan had got so many tiny details right.
Asked what she thought of the show, Kim said: “I loved it. Some people were over and they hadn’t seen it — I watched it years and years ago — and I wanted to see if my recollection was right on the portrayal of my dad.
“I thought it was just done so well.
“I remember asking Ryan, who were your sources? Because that was my dad’s exact bracelet. That was our home! They actually rented the home that we grew up in at that period of time.
“Little things were wrong, but minimal.
“But it was just fascinating to watch and see it from a different perspective, especially now, since I’m in law school. Seeing it from a legal point of view is just fascinating.”

“You know, it might not come off like that when I’m playing football…but off the field, I just wanna be a genuine person. Somebody that seems very relatable…if anybody asks me for a picture and it’s just not the moment to take a picture, you know, I’ll have a conversation with you.”

“I’m so fortunate and so grateful [for] everything that’s come my way in life.
“I feel like I’m on top of the mountain, even after winning’ the Super Bowl and having’ the off-season that I’m having. And just looking forward to what’s next in life, man…I’m so grateful. So appreciative. And yeah. Livin’ the dream, baby.”
