Celine Dion took near-fatal dose of Valium

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion took a near-fatal dose of Valium as she struggled to control the symptoms of stiff-person syndrome.
The 56-year-old singer was diagnosed with the rare condition – which causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms – in 2022 but she had been struggling with the effects of the illness for 20 years after beginning to show signs back in the early 2000s – and she has now revealed she relied on sedative drug Valium to control her pain but she ended up taking high doses that were not safe.
She told PEOPLE the first time she felt a muscle spasm was when she was on tour in Germany and it led to her to use medicine in a bid to resolve it. She said: “I had breakfast, and I suddenly started to feel a spasm. My vocal exercise made it worse …
“We started with two milligrams [of Valium] to see if it would help, and then 2.5, and then 3, and 15 and 50 [and later 90 milligrams to get through a performance].
“It could have been fatal. I did not question the level because I don’t know medicine. I thought it was going to be okay.
“It worked for a few days, for a few weeks, and then it doesn’t work anymore. I did not understand that I could have gone to bed and stopped breathing. And you learn – you learn through your mistakes.”
She added of using the drug: “It’s very important to know … people who know me well enough, they know that I did not take medicine just to drug myself, just to be high or to be stoned.
“I have been as professional as can be through my whole life, a disciplined, hard-working person doing what I need to do for my voice to be in top shape.”
After being diagnosed with the illness, Celine is now on a treatment plan that involves a combination of medicine, therapy and physical rehabilitation and she still hopes to be able to get back on stage to sing again.
Speaking in her feature-length documentary ‘I Am: Celine Dion’ , the singer explained she “can’t answer” if she will ever be able to get back on stage.
She said: “I can’t answer that … because for four years I’ve been saying to myself that I’m not going back, that I’m ready, that I’m not ready.’
“As things stand, I can’t stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months.’ “I don’t know … my body will tell me. On the other hand, I don’t just want to wait.”

Sara Ramirez files for divorce, three years after announcing end of marriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Sara Ramirez has filed for divorce, three years after revealing they had split from their husband.
The ‘And Just Like That…’ star – who identifies as non-binary and uses gender-neutral pronouns – announced in July 2021 they had separated from Ryan DeBolt and now, court documents filed to legally end their marriage shows the couple actually split more than three years before then as the separation date is listed as January 2018.
According to paperwork obtained by TMZ, irreconcilable differences was cited as the reason for the split and Sara asked to block the court’s ability to award spousal support to either party because they signed a prenuptial agreement when they tied the knot in 2012.
The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star announced the end of their marriage to Ryan on Instagram in July 2021.
They wrote in a now-deleted post: “Ryan and I are no longer together. We remain loving and supportive in how we are choosing to forge our new individual paths.
“Thank you for holding space around our choices and respecting our families’ privacy as we navigate this process on our own terms,.”
Last summer, Sara shared some self-love and positivity on their own 48th birthday.
Sharing a throwback photo, they wrote: “There is so much to say but I’m gonna keep it simple. You’re welcome.
“Happy birthday to me. May this kid continue to feel and know that they are loved beyond their gender, they are valued beyond their productivity, and they will always be held and protected by this softening blossoming adult who may or may not be bringing their killer mullet back.”
Sara also discussed finding their “possibilities for change” after coming out as non-binary.
They previously told People magazine: “There was so much for me to unlearn, and I faced my own internalised oppression.
“In this society, we often feel this pressure to live in these rigid boxes. When I stepped out of the box I had put myself in, I discovered my own possibilities for change.”

Matt Bomer believes his sexuality cost him Superman role

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Bomer believes he lost his chance at playing Superman after being outed as gay.
The 46-year-old actor – who has three children, Kit, 18, and 16-year-old twins Walker and Henry with husband Simon Halls – was set to play Clark Kent and his alter ego on the big screen in the early 2000s and after a lengthy audition process, he was director Brett Ratner’s choice for the role but he thinks his sexuality ultimately made the studio think twice about hiring him.
Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter’s ‘Awards Chatter’ podcast, he said: “I went in on a cattle call for ‘Superman’, and then it turned into a one-month audition experience where I was auditioning again and again and again.
“It looked like I was the director’s choice for the role. I signed a three-picture deal at Warner Bros..
“This is a very early iteration of ‘Superman’ written by J.J. Abrams, called ‘Superman: Flyby’, I think is what it was called, and it never came to light.”
Matt – who only came out publicly in 2012, a year after he got married – was then asked if his sexuality was a factor behind him not getting the job and he replied: “Yeah, that’s my understanding. That was a time in the industry when something like that could still really be weaponised against you.
“How, and why, and who [outed me], I don’t know, but yeah, that’s my understanding.”
In 2012, late author Jackie Collins claimed the ‘White Collar’ actor had been stopped from playing Superman because of his sexuality.
She told Gaydar Radio: “Matt Bomer, who is the most gorgeous looking guy and the star of White Collar, he had not come out of the closet, but people in the know knew he was gay.
“His audition tape went in and he called up the agent and somebody didn’t like him and told [the producers] he was gay. They said, ‘No, no, we can’t cast you.’ The reason he didn’t get cast was because he was gay.”
But insiders dismissed her claims and insisted Matt lost the part because of Brett’s departure from the project.
A source told E! News at the time: “Matt was Brett’s Superman. He would never have not cast Matt because he’s gay. Brett knew Matt was gay. They’re good friends.
“Matt not being Superman had nothing to do with his sexuality. It was because the director changed.”

Travis Kelce refuses to dish the ‘personal’ meals he cooks with Taylor Swift

OHMYGOSSIP — Travis Kelce won’t dish the meals he and girlfriend Taylor Swift like to cook together.
The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight-end – who has been dating the pop superstar, also 34, since last July – would like to keep their favourite dishes private as he considers it “personal”.
Responding to a question about what they like to cook together after they were filmed in a kitchen for a YouTube Short, Travis said: “That’s a good question.
“I respect that question, but I’m going to keep that one to myself because I thoroughly enjoy cooking with her, so it’s something I’d rather just keep personal.”
However, he did spill the sweet treats the ‘All Too Well’ hitmaker makes well.
Travis added: “Taylor makes a great Pop-Tart and cinnamon roll.”
Dating one of the biggest stars on the planet means Travis is often asked lots of personal questions, and he was recently grilled about plans to propose to Taylor during an awkward moment at a charity event.
The football star was at the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City, Missouri – which raises money for the Children’s Mercy Hospital – alongside his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes and actor Paul Rudd and he appeared in a skit with actor/comedian Jason Sudeikis who pinned the sportsman down on whether he is going to tie the knot with his girlfriend.
Sudeikis asked him: “Hey Travis, real talk OK, just the guys here. Hey, when are you going to make an honest woman out of her? Taylor doesn’t need to be working anymore.”
Travis smiled, rubbed his beard, and pointedly refused to answer the question.
It comes after New York Post column Page Six reported Travis plans to pop the question this summer on their first anniversary in July.
An insider told the publication: “They don’t want it to seem like it’s rushed insanity … Taylor and Travis discussed it and there is a plan … They will get engaged on their one-year anniversary in July.”
The couple are believed to have got together in July 2023 and Taylor went on to make her first public appearance supporting Travis at one of his football games in September.
Taylor previously admitted the pair enjoyed plenty of time together at the start of their romance before going public.
She revealed they started hanging out after the sportsman mentioned her on his ‘New Heights’ podcast.
She told Time magazine: “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

French fashionista and singer Françoise Hardy dead at 80

OHMYGOSSIP — Françoise Hardy has died at the age of 80.
The Parisian singer and actress – who was born in Nazi occupied Paris in 1944 – had battled lymphatic cancer since 2004 and had to undergo several years of treatment
This week, her son confirmed his mother passed away.
Taking to Instagram, Thomas Dutronc – whose father is singer Jacques Dutronc – simply wrote: “Mum is gone (sic).”
In 2015, Françoise was placed in an induced coma for weeks following a fall.
Six years later, the singer admitted she felt “close to the end” of her life after a tumour had been found in her ear.
After bursting onto the music scene in 1962 with the song ‘Tous les garçons et les filles’ (All the Girls and Boys’), Françoise became a cultural icon who inspired artists like Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Sir Mick Jagger.
Dylan famously penned a poem about Françoise.
The singer became renowned for her melancholy ballads, and symbolised France’s Yé-yé (yeah yeah) pop movement.
Françoise became a household name with earworms such as ‘It Hurts to Say Goodbye’ (‘Comment te dire adieu’) and ‘My Friend the Rose’ (‘Mon amie la rose’).
‘All Over The World’ – an English-language version of her track ‘Dans le monde entier’ – became the singer’s biggest UK hit, reaching number 16 in the charts in June 1965.
Françoise worked with several renowned songwriters, including Serge Gainsbourg, Patrick Modiano, Michel Berger and Catherine Lara, and collaborated with artists such as Iggy Pop and Blur.
Aside from her work in the music industry, the songwriter ventured into the film world, appearing in Roger Vadim’s ‘Château en Suède’ (1963) and John Frankenheimer’s ‘Grand Prix’ (1966), and made a brief appearance in Jean-Luc Godard’s ‘Masculin féminin’ (1966).
She was also a style muse for the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, André Courrèges and Paco Rabanne, and once admitted the press in Britain in the Swinging Sixties were more fascinated with her French girl aesthetic than her music.
Speaking to The New York Times in 2018, she said: “When I came to London to perform at the Savoy in the mid-60s, I was well aware that the British press was more interested in the way I dressed than in my songs.”
After news broke of her passing, a number of stars have paid tribute to Françoise.
The Lord of the Rings’ actor Elijah Wood posted a black-and-white photo of the singer, and added the caption: “au revoir, Françoise Hardy.”
‘Fight the Power’ rapper Chuck D took to social media and wrote: “Over in France … us beat diggers found some vintage stuff in Françoise Hardy records #RestInBeats.”

Matty Healy seemingly engaged to Gabbriette Bechtel

OHMYGOSSIP — Matty Healy’s girlfriend Gabbriette Bechtel has sparked speculation the couple are engaged.
The 26-year-old model attended Charli XCX’s Brooklyn concert this week, where she seemingly claimed she’s set to marry The 1975 frontman.
Alongside a snap of a giant black diamond ring on her ring finger, the singer – who fronts Nasty Cherry, who were put together by Charli – wrote on her Instagram Story: “Marrying the 1975 is very brat @trumanblack.”
The ‘Love Me’ singer, 35, started dating Gabbriette in the aftermath of his fling with superstar Taylor Swift, 34.
Matty is believed to have inspired some of the tracks on Taylor’s latest LP, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, but he insisted he “hasn’t listened to much” of the record.
The pair briefly dated in 2023, and she is thought to have used several of her relationships as inspiration for her record, but when asked about a certain “diss track” that is supposedly about him, he admitted he hadn’t even really listened to the record.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight:’: “My diss track? I haven’t really listened to that much of it, but I’m sure it’s good.”
The singer appeared unfazed by Taylor’s latest project, and his family was insistent that he was not going to be “surprised” that he had inspired the track ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’.
Matty’s aunt Debbie Dedes – who is the sister of his television actress mother Denise Welch – told MailOnline: “Nothing surprises him anymore. He will not be surprised by the song. Him and her know what went on.
“She writes about all her relationships, doesn’t she? I don’t think it will come as a shock to him at all.
“He’s very happy in his new relationship so I’m sure he will be focusing on that.
“As my nephew, we know a bit more about what went on than has been in the press.”
Taylor – who has also moved on with NFL star Travis Kelce, 34 – said her album describes a “fleeting and fatalistic moment in time – one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure.”
She added on Instagram: “This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up.
“There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted.
“This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it.
“And then all that’s left behind is the tortured poetry.”

Four Tops singer sues hospital who ‘branded him delusional’

OHMYGOSSIP — Four Tops singer Alexander Morris is suing a hospital he claimed branded him “delusional” after he told them he was a member of the group.
The 53-year-old musician – who joined the legendary Motown group in 2019 – is taking legal action against Ascension Macomb Oakland Hospital in Michigan, who he alleged denied him medical care and instead restrained him for an hour and a half and ordered him to undergo psychiatric evaluation as staff “wrongfully assumed he was mentally ill when he revealed his identity as a celebrity figure.”
Alexander has a history of cardiac disease and explained he was rushed to hospital after experiencing chest pains and difficulty breathing while out on tour, and on arrival to the emergency room, he told staff he had “current security concerns due to stalkers and fans” but then alleged in his complaint that employees didn’t believe he was a member of the Four Tops and took him off oxygen, pursuing a psychological evaluation instead.
The singer alleged his requests for oxygen were “ignored” and he was put in a restraining jacket, before denying his request to be released so he could leave and seek treatment elsewhere. He also claimed the white security guard told him to “sit his Black ass down” when he asked if he could show his ID to prove his identity.
Alexander’s wife eventually joined him at the hospital, where he told her that “the doctors thought he was delusional.
His spouse confirmed his identity, but staff only believed him when he showed footage of himself performing at the Grammy awards
According to the complaint, at that point, the evaluation was cancelled and the jacket removed, with Alexander – who suffered three seizures that day – then put back on oxygen and ultimately diagnosed with a heart infraction.
His attorneys Maurice Davis and Jasmine Rand said in a statement to People magazine: “When our client presented to the hospital he was racially profiled. The hospital staff and security guard were quicker to assume Mr. Morris was psychotic than successful because he was a Black man.
“Even if he was mentally ill he was still in the middle of a clear medical emergency that necessitated swift medical intervention. The hospital had no excuse to deny him emergency medical treatment.”
The singer claimed he was offered a $25 gift card to a local superstore “as an apology,” but refused the gift.
The hospital, a nurse, and a security guard a listed as defendants but the latter appears to have passed away in September.
A spokesperson for the medical facility told People magazine: “The health, safety and well-being of our patients, associates and community members remains our top priority.
“We remain committed to honouring human dignity and acting with integrity and compassion for all persons and the community.
“We do not condone racial discrimination of any kind. We will not comment on pending litigation.”

OJ Simpson’s executor seeks to auction his belongings

OHMYGOSSIP — The executor of O.J. Simpson’s estate is seeking permission to sell the late star’s memorabilia.
The footballer-turned-actor passed away in April aged 76, and with debts having his estate, including a $500,000 tax lien, lawyer Malcolm LaVergne has filed court documents to be allowed to sell certain items that belonged to the ‘Naked Gun’ star at the time of his death, which he feels may be of great public interest.
According to paperwork obtained by TMZ, the executor noted some of the items amount to potential memorabilia which could bring in a lot of money if up for sale, including O.J.’s car, gold clubs and even his driving license, as well as a Heisman Trophy – which is awarded annually to the most promising star in college football – which may or may not be genuine.
Malcolm is keen for the items to be auctioned to fetch as much money as possible for creditors and other interested parties, including the families of the late Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, whose deaths O.J. was ruled liable for in 1997, two years after he was acquitted of their killings.
He told TMZ: “This is the beginning of closure, the best way I see fit as the executor. The money from the auction sales will go toward paying creditors, including Goldman if I can negotiate effectively with the other creditors.”
However, Malcolm acknowledged the Goldman family are unlikely to receive the full amount they have been seeking, but he is doing his best and a voluntary payment from the estate may be a “Pyrrhic victory”.
Last month, Malcolm said he was ready to meet with the families to discuss their probate claims against the estate.
The executor wants to be transparent with the probate process, not to necessarily give the 1997 judgement, which awarded the families a $33.5 million payout, a special priority as all claims against the estate have to be dealt with according to Nevada law.
Malcolm told TMZ he is aware two judgements, one each for Ron’s parents Fred and Sharon, are active in the state but can’t find evidence of an active judgement from Nicole Brown Simpson’s estate, and though he would welcome proof one exists, he wouldn’t honour a judgement that is no longer active.
Malcolm had initially declared the families would get “nothing” from O.J’s estate but later confirmed he would accept the claims.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I can tell you in advance, Fred Goldman’s claim will be accepted. And his claim will be handled in accordance with Nevada law.”
He went on to insist his initial remarks in which he declared they would get “nothing” were an emotional response to Fred talking about the former footballer in the press after his death.
LaVergne added: “Within an hour of knowing that O.J. died, he started talking [badly about him]. My advocate instinct is was, ‘Oh, you’re gonna keep [doing this] even after he’s dead? Fine, you know? You get nothing.’
“And so, those were my remarks then. But I backtracked, and they were pretty harsh remarks. And now I’m going in the other direction.”

Rebel Wilson hasn’t met fiancee’s parents

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebel Wilson hasn’t met her fiancée’s parents.
The ‘Pitch Perfect’ actress got engaged to Ramona Agruma over a year ago, but she has yet to meet her future in-laws, which she believes is down to cultural differences with the designer’s family.
She told Today.com: “Ramona was born in Latvia, and it’s not as LGBTQ+-friendly as other countries are.
“I just think some people need a bit more time — and some people won’t ever come around to it, and that’s fine, and that’s their decision.
“There are still parts of the world that aren’t as accepting.”
But the couple are planning a trip to Europe in a few weeks’ time and Rebel is looking forward to meeting Ramona’s family.
She said: “I’m really excited to meet them because I know they are very smart. Ramona’s mother is a doctor.”
The 44-year-old actress explained how her and Ramona’s 19-month-old daughter Royce opened the doors for the meeting.
She said: “Roycie is the real icebreaker — they’ve been FaceTiming with her.”
The ‘Bridesmaids’ star recently admitted Ramona’s father wasn’t speaking to the couple because of their relationship.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Desert Island Discs’ programme, Rebel said: “I’m lucky in my case, even though I come from a very conservative background, it went very, very well … My grandparents, who are in their 90s, just so chilled and cool with it.
“Ramona’s family, not as much. Her mum has luckily come around now, her father still doesn’t talk to her, but we’re hoping that will change.”
The ‘Cats’ actress had been in the process of using a surrogate to have a child when she first met Ramona and was thankful her partner was quickly accepting of her family plans.
She said: “I’d already been planning to use a surrogate to have a child and I’d done several rounds of IVF and I had one embryo transfer, which sadly didn’t work.
“Almost right at meeting Ramona, I was planning on the second embryo transfer, and I was like, ‘Babe I don’t know how to tell you this, but I’m going to have a child kind of around November.’
“Ramona just looked at me and said, ‘Well, I love you and if you have a child, I’m going to love your child exactly the same way.’”

The 34-year-old superstar – who has donated to many food banks amid her ‘Eras World Tour’ – has also been praised by City Council leader Cammy Day for boosting the economy by millions with her gigs at the BT Murrayfield Stadium last week.
He said: “Edinburgh truly has given Taylor Swift and her hundreds of thousands of fans visiting the Capital from across the globe this weekend a spectacular welcome.
“From everything I have seen so far, the atmosphere across the city has been one of fun and celebration as Swifties travelled around having The Best Day until it was Time to Go home.
“And the event is expected to have injected tens of millions of pounds into our city’s economy.”
Taylor hit the headlines when she wore gloves to one of the concerts after suffering a “weird” cramp in the chilly city the night before.
The ‘Love Story’ singer was forced to briefly stop playing her guitar on Friday (07.06.24) because she was suffering with cramp due to the chill in the air.
She told the crowd: “My hand has frozen in a weird cramp … this is so embarrassing … it’s like performing with a claw.
“No one relates.”
And when she returned to the venue on Saturday (08.06.24), she was wearing a pair of black gloves, seemingly to prevent the cramp coming back.
Despite the cold, Taylor relished the experience of performing for her fans in Scotland, admitting that she had an “unforgettable” evening.
The blonde beauty – who performed some of her best-known songs, including ‘Cruel Summer’ and ‘Lover’, during the show – said: “Edinburgh, you have given us everything you could possibly give us tonight.”
Taylor is set to perform in Liverpool on June 13, 14 and 15, and it was recently announced that the city will be renamed Taylor Town when 150,000 fans descend on the city for her shows at Anfield.
She is also scheduled to perform in Cardiff and London, too, and her shows are reportedly set to boost UK spending by almost £1 billion.

BTS star Jin to hug 1,000 fans as he returns from military service

OHMYGOSSIP — BTS star Jin is set to hug 1,000 fans upon his return from military service.
The 31-year-old K-pop sensation – whose real name is Kim-Seok-jin – is the eldest member of the South Korean boy band and had been working as an assistant drill instructor at a training facility in the country.
A raffle took place for members of the ARMY – their loyal fan base – to get the opportunity to give the singer an embrace on Thursday (13.06.24).
Ms Park, 32, was one of the lucky fans to win a hug with her idol.
She said: “I’m so happy now that I will meet Jin.
“I didn’t expect to win. I couldn’t believe it so all weekend I kept checking over and over again.”
Jin already reunited with his bandmates – RM, 28, Suga 31, Jung Kook, 26, J-Hope, 30, V, 28, and Jimin, also 28 – briefly and hosted a livestream for fans.
He said: “Thank you for waiting for me, I love you. I will try to express my feelings tomorrow.”
As well as hugs, Jin will perform special requests to 3,000 fans.
One fan attending is flying all the way from the Philippines for the intimate fan event.
There was also outrage when some fans accused label HYBE of trying to use fans to sell more BTS albums.
However, Jin insisted during his livestream: “This is something that the company and I prepared in good intention, so please understand.”
Meanwhile, Jung Kook previously declared that the “synergy of BTS in 2025” will be “incredible”.
The ‘IDOL’ band have been on a break since last summer due to the band members focusing on solo projects and carrying out mandatory military service.
And Jung Kook admitted he’s missing his bandmates and is excited about their reunion.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he said: “We were always together for so many years that I felt the void of them not being next to me. You know, I miss them… I think the synergy of BTS in 2025 will be incredible.”
