Jane Asher loves crosswords and baking

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Swinging Sixties party girl Jane Asher prefers the quieter things in life these days including crossword puzzles and baking.
The 78-year-old actress and author famously dated former Beatles singer Sir Paul McCartney, 81, at the time and they lived with Jane and her family at their Wimpole Street town house in London before they got their own house, and were engaged until the ‘Alfie’ actress caught him in bed with groupie Francie Schwartz – leading to her calling off their wedding in July 1968.
These days, the mother-of-three – who has been married to Gerald Scarfe since 1981 – loves the simple life of reading, brain games and making cakes.
She told Yours magazine: “Of course, I’ve changed hugely and I really enjoy time at home watching TV. I like things that have lateral questions and are more about how your brain works.
I love doing The Times crossword puzzles. They’re maddening and infuriating, but because you’re worrying about something totally silly and unnecessary, it kind of takes stress away from other things. It’s a great distraction. I’ve also just rediscovered the joy of reading. I love technology but the simple pleasure of reading a book is great.”
The ‘Mandy’ star finds baking “super relaxing”.
She shared: “So many people took up baking during lockdown for the first time, which was wonderful. I did some too. Home baking is still a big part of my life and it’s super relaxing.
The feeling of pride you get putting a cake on the table for people to enjoy is lovely.”
She also loves sewing after getting to grips with the craft.
Jane told the publication: “I really really love it. The fabrics you can buy online are so beautiful and there’s a limitless choice. It’s much cheaper making a dress for someone than buying it, and you can make it unique.”
Elsewhere, the author admitted it’s unlikely she will pen another novel.
She said: “Id like to think so but whether I really will do another one, I don’t know. I always intended to write a fourth novel but it’s now such a long time since I wrote the others I think, realistically, it’s unlikely, but you never know.”
On what makes her happy, she added: “Looking out of the window and seeing a bit of sunshine after such a lot of rain makes a difference. It’s surprising how much of an effect the weather has an you. A nice warm, spring or summer day makes me happy!”

Nick Jonas to star in The Last Five Years on Broadway

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Jonas is set to star in a Broadway production of ‘The Last Five Years’.
The 31-year-old singer will star alongside Adrienne Warren in a revival of the musical, which is scheduled to open in spring 2025.
Jason Robert Brown, who has written a score for the show, said in a statement: “I have always believed that when the time was right, ‘The Last Five Years’ would make its way to Broadway.
“To have Nick and Adrienne taking on these roles is a composer’s dream come true.”
The upcoming production has never previously appeared on Broadway. However, ‘The Last Five Years’ premiered in 2001 and it had off-Broadway runs back in 2002 and 2013.
The show tells the story of two New Yorkers and their romantic relationship over a five-year period.
Meanwhile, Nick previously revealed that he wants to have a career like Elvis Presley.
The pop star admitted that he wants to be “greedy” and have success in different fields.
Nick – who is married to actress Priyanka Chopra – told TIME magazine: “My goal is to be the kind of performer that can be in movies and television shows, like the show ‘Kingdom’ I’m doing now. Be in that and have a career in that, but also do my music. Both are a form of my artistry and it’s a shame that sometimes you’re limited to one.
“A lot of people feel like you have to focus on one at a time, but I want to be greedy and do both. I hope I can. I look at people like Elvis, who did both, and it was amazing.
“There’s a million examples of people who have made the transition from one to the other, but I’d love to be able to do both and make an impact in both.”

Emilia Clarke: I can’t watch House of the Dragon

OHMYGOSSIP — Emilia Clarke “still can’t” watch ‘House of the Dragon’.
The 37-year-old actress is best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in ‘Game of Thrones’, but Emilia has now admitted that she still can’t bring herself to watch the spin-off series.
The London-born actress – who starred on ‘Game of Thrones’ between 2011 and 2019 – told PEOPLE: “I still can’t [watch the show]. I just don’t know what it is.”
Emilia has very fond memories of her time on the HBO fantasy series, and because of that, the actress feels it would be “odd” to watch the spin-off show.
She shared: “I feel so content and happy with what my experience was, that I think watching the new one would just feel so odd, I think.”
Despite this, Emilia loves that the spin-off show has been so successful and popular with fans.
She said: “I really do fully support the entire thing and everyone who’s made it, and it’s beautiful how successful it’s been. It’s absolutely amazing.”
In 2023, Emilia admitted that she can’t bring herself to watch ‘House of the Dragon’.
The actress voiced her support for the spin-off show – but confessed that watching the programme would be “weird” and “strange”.
She told Variety: “It’s too weird. I’m so happy it’s happening. I’m over the moon about all the awards … I just can’t do it. It’s so weird. It’s so strange.”
Emilia even likened watching the show to attending a school reunion.
She explained: “It’s kind of like someone saying, ‘You want to go to this school reunion that’s not your year? Want to go to that school reunion?’ That’s how it feels. I’m avoiding it.”

Stephen Fry and Lena Dunham ‘understood each other instantly’

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Fry feels “protective” of Lena Dunham.
The 66-year-old actor stars alongside Lena, 38, in ‘Treasure’ – a new film that centres on an American journalist who travels to Poland with her father to visit his childhood landmarks – and Stephen has admitted to relishing the experience of working with the ‘Girls’ creator.
Asked if he was aware of her previous work, Stephen told The Observer newspaper: “Yes, because of ‘Girls’, which I think is such an amazing series to have created and performed in. We understood each other so instantly.
“She called me ‘daddy’ a lot of the time, and although I’ve never been a father, I felt very protective of her. We also have shared ancestry, as we both had Jewish family that were lost at Auschwitz.”
Stephen also revealed how his Jewish ancestry influenced his performance in the movie.
The actor feels he was able to empathise with his on-screen character, Edek, because of everything his grandfather experienced after arriving in Britain in the 1920s.
He shared: “My grandfather Martin, who moved to Britain in the late 1920s, was a character not unlike Edek.
“His parents, sisters, nieces, nephews, were Hungarian Jews, and as you probably know, in 1944, the sweeping out of Hungarian Jews was complete.
“You can’t imagine how someone would face life after that loss. Some hid away, got angry, had their view of humanity forever tainted, naturally, but others embraced life, like my grandfather, who gobbled up music and women and food.
“So I understood how, for Edek, going back home was a terrible thing.”

Success has always felt better shared, says Amy Poehler

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Poehler struggles to be funny in a “dysfunctional” environment.
The 52-year-old actress has very fond memories of her time on ‘Saturday Night Live’, the long-running TV comedy show, and that’s created a blueprint for her entire career.
Amy told The Independent: “You do not need to have a chaotic or dysfunctional work environment to be funny or to be creative.
“I don’t do great with people who want to fracture that feeling.
“I either get really defensive or really protective – I’ve got my stuff to work on. But I think once you prove that it works, it’s pretty hard to go back.
“I’ve sometimes gone to other places and I’m like, ‘Babe, it does not have to be this way – I’ve seen the other side, we don’t need to kill each other to make great stuff.’”
Amy has enjoyed a hugely successful comedy partnership with Tina Fey during her career, and the actress admits that she loves working in a team environment.
Amy shared: “Success for me has always felt better shared. It feels bigger and more satisfying. And also, let’s be honest, it’s nice to fail with someone, too.”
Meanwhile, Amy previously claimed that ‘Parks and Recreation’ suffered from being “mislabelled”.
The actress – who played Leslie Knope on the hit TV series – believes the series struggled initially because it was mistakenly described as a spin-off of ‘The Office’.
Amy told The Independent: “In the beginning we were fighting for survival.
“We had a really bad launch, in my opinion. We were kind of mislabelled when we first came out, as an ‘Office’ spin-off, which we were not.”

Gunner has actually wanted to launch his own channel for more than a year.
Spencer said: “No momager-dadager. But he watches all these kids on YouTube. So he sees like, ‘Why do they get to have unboxed toys?’ It’s not us – even though I’m so excited for his channel.”
Gunner is aware of what Spencer and Heidi have managed to achieve in their own careers.
Spencer shared: “He loves when people come up to us and ask for a photo and they leave. He goes, ‘That was a nice fan, Dad.’ I’m like, ‘They were very nice. Supporter – we’ll call them supporters, son.'”
Meanwhile, Heidi admitted earlier this year that her beauty standards have evolved.
The reality star confessed that her idea of the perfect body has changed markedly over the years.
She told Us Weekly: “I used to want skinny legs and the gap in between the thighs – I thought that was such a staple of being fit. Now my opinion of what’s sexy and what’s healthy is so different.”
Heidi has upped her fitness efforts in recent times, while she’s also overhauled her diet, cutting down on things such as sugar, bread and alcohol.

Jake Gyllenhaal ‘cherished living with Peter Sarsgaard’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Gyllenhaal loved having Peter Sarsgaard as a roommate.
The 43-year-old actor stars alongside Peter, 53, in the TV series ‘Presumed Innocent’ – which is based on the 1987 novel of the same name – and Jake has revealed that he relished being roommates with his co-star and brother-in-law.
Speaking to Sky News, Jake explained: “We got to live together through a majority of it.
“Most of the time, we both live in the same city but he’s with his family and I’m in my life and we see each other but we don’t live together, so it was a very special time in both of our lives that we got to really be like roommates.
“It’s not a normal situation in that way, but man, did I cherish it and we got so much closer as a result of it.”
Peter is married to Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jake’s sister, and Jake loved having such a close relationship with his co-star.
The Hollywood actor shared: “In our case, with my brother-in-law and I, we’re really devoted to our work and acting and storytelling and stuff so I think we also understand it as a craft, so we can kind of bring stuff from our relationship into scenes that are true in a fictional space, and we have great fun doing it.”
Jake has even received some invaluable career advice from Peter.
He said: “He once came to see me in a show that I was doing on stage, and his only note for me was there’s power in stillness, and I remember that so much because I think it’s true.
“I think particularly as an actor but then generally in life, I think we have a tendency to want to move and express ourselves, and I think that oftentimes the stillness makes people lean in and also makes you focus on listening.
“And it does a lot of really, really powerful things. It was an incredible note and it came from Peter.”

She told MailOnline: “I think things are changing now. I think, word of mouth, people are realising that I’ve changed. I’ve changed my mindset.”
Katie believes that her mindset shift is actually evident to anyone who meets her.
The former glamour model shared: “I’m bored of [the negativity] and I think the public is starting to realise that.
“It’s just attack, attack and attack. When they meet me or hear my podcast, they see me as a different person.”
Katie resents how she’s perceived in comparison to Peter Andre, her ex-husband.
What’s more, the TV star suggested that Peter and his inner circle don’t really care about her.
Katie – who was married to Peter between 2005 and 2009 – explained: “I don’t think they really care what happens to me if I’m honest.

Katie was also previously married to Kieran Hayler and Alex Reid, and she’s accused them of being “obsessed” with her.
She said: “I just call all my exes Mr. Prices. They all gang up together and then they all attack me.
“Really, I should be flattered because they’re that obsessed with me.

“I wish they’d just get on with their own lives and just leave me alone. Because I’m getting on with mine.”

Billy Porter pays tear-jerking tribute to late mom as he accepts special Tonys prize

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Porter paid a touching tribute to his late mother as he accepted a special prize at the Tony Awards: Act One pre-show.
The 54-year-old Broadway star was handed the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award, a non-competitive philanthropic award for those who have helped one more more charitable organisation, and he used his time onstage at the David H. Koch Theater at the Lincoln Center in New York on Sunday (16.06.24) to honour his late mom, Cloerinda Jean Johnson Porter-Ford, who died in February aged 79.
The teary-eyed actor-and-singer began: “I’d like to dedicate this moment to my mother, Cloerinda Jean Johnson Porter-Ford, who we lost this past February.
“She believed in unconditional love and she instilled in my sister and I a purpose and a love greater than ourselves.”
He continued: “One of her favourite bible verses was Second Timothy, 1:7. ‘For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.’
“Turn to your neighbour and tell him fear not! For the change has already happened. God bless y’all.”
Sharing the news of her passing, a “heartbroken” Bill wrote on Instagram at the time: “With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving mother, Cloerinda Jean Johnson Porter-Ford. We were right beside her when she took her last breath, wrapped in our arms. Mommy lived life to the fullest despite physical limitations pressed upon her. She was the personification of true Christianity and her unconditional love is a template that the world could benefit from employing. Her example is what we continue to strive for. We are heartbroken she is no longer here with us, but find solace that her suffering has ended. Her fight was long and hard – she did it with grace and integrity. Mommy will remain forever in our hearts as she continues to guide us from above, as she has done on this Earth.
From Labor to Reward… (sic)”
In 2017, the ‘Pose’ star told how his mother was “born with a degenerative disability that has only progressed and worsened”.
In an interview for Build Series, he said at the time: “That woman has got out of bed every single day of her life and has fought for her life when everybody on the planet said that he shouldn’t even bother.
“I don’t know how to be anything else when you have an example like that. You can’t be anything else.”

Angelina Jolie has won her first-ever Tony Award thanks to her youngest daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Angelina Jolie has won her first Tony Award after being inspired by her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne to produce ‘The Outsiders: A New Musical’.
The ‘Tourist’ actress, 49, did not give a speech at the prestigious stage awards ceremony at New York’s Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater on Sunday (16.06.24), but she appeared alongside her daughter, who also assisted her with the production.
The show, which is based on S.E. Hinton’s tome about 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis, his two brothers and best friend Johnny – the Greasers – who face rival group the Socs, and has a meaningful message about resilience, was one of the big winners of the night, taking four prizes, also including Best Musical.
Producer Matthew Rego said in a speech: “Susie Hinton wrote The Outsiders 60 years ago and she has received accolades ever since. But she often says that she still gets overwhelmed when told that The Outsiders changed someone’s life because she’ll say, who might have changed anyone’s life? It’s the book. It’s not the author. It’s the message, not the messenger. Well Susie, I’m here to tell you that your story and its eternal message of love and family and staying gold has forever changed all of our lives. We love you.”
Angelina recently shared how she learned a lot about her youngest daughter through producing the Broadway show.
The ‘Maleficent’ star was introduced to ‘The Outsiders’ after Vivienne saw its run on the West Coast, and she agreed to get involved with the New York production because of the youngster’s passion.
She told Deadline: “My daughter Viv loves theatre.
“She appreciates all theatre but she certainly knows what she feels close to and what she responds to. She went to see ‘The Outsiders’ at La Jolla about five times and was telling me about it, and I had read the book, and I’d seen the film years ago.”
At the urging of her daughter, Angelina revisited the material and began “really watching the effect it was having on my young daughter and what she was telling me about herself, and I was learning what about it was important to her and why it connected so deeply to her.”
Angelina – who also has Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and Vivienne’s twin brother Knox with ex-husband Brad Pitt – then joined the production as producer, with her daughter as her assistant.
And Angelina realised doing so was “a moment to learn more about Viv.”
She explained: “It was a very different experience of understanding, of how this is having a significant effect on her as a young person right now, and she’s communicating something to me, and that is the power of this material.
“And then I had the privilege of watching everyone work over this last year to make it into what it is, and Vivienne has been there the whole way.”

Jodie Turner-Smith channeling Gwyneth Paltrow in Joshua Jackson divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Turner-Smith wants to “consciously uncouple” from Joshua Jackson just like Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.
The actress/model filed for divorce from the ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star – father of her three-year-old daughter Juno Rose – last year citing “irreconcilable differences” for the split and Jackson has since moved on by striking up a romance with ‘Black Panther’ star Lupita Nyong’o.
When asked about her estranged husband’s new relationship, Jodie told The Cut magazine: “Good for them. We need happiness in order to peacefully co-parent.”
Jodie, 37, went on to reference Paltrow and Martin – who declared plans for a “conscious uncoupling” when they confirmed their split in 2014.
She said: “I’m trying to get us to the Gwyneth and Chris Martin level. I just have to do everything that I can to set Juno up to win and to peacefully co-parent with someone whom I once loved very, very much.”
She added of her ex’s new relationship: “I truly hope they’re happy and that it benefits us as a family.”
Jodie previously admitted ending her four-year marriage to Jackson was the “healthiest” thing to do.
She told the Sunday Times Style magazine: “Sometimes things we really want to work just don’t end up working. And that’s OK.
“The most important thing is that you choose what’s healthiest for you and your family and definitely your children. There are so many different moments in our life where we look at ourselves and say, ‘Who am I and am I being true to that?’
“If the answer is no, then you have to make a move because I believe that there are visible scars from staying in places that are not good for us. And they don’t just affect us, they affect everybody around us. I don’t think it’s a failure.
“We obviously had such a beautiful moment together. And now it’s time for a new moment for both of us. And how exciting!”

Katie Price working on new BBC documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Price is planning a new BBC documentary about her son Harvey.
The 46-year-old former glamour model previously made two films for the corporation about her relationship with her eldest child who has special needs – ‘Katie Price: Harvey And Me’ which aired in 2021 and ‘Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next’ which was broadcast a year later – and she now claims there’s a third installment in the works.
She told Dailymail.co.uk: “The BBC want to do another documentary about Harvey. It’ll be two or three years on from his last one.”
Katie added of Harvey, 22, who has autism and Prader-Willi Syndrome: “I love Harvey, he just makes me laugh … He’s got such great banter, he’s just so funny. He’s such a gorgeous man.
“I’m not allowed to say to him, ‘You’re my little boy’ anymore, he says. ‘No mum, I’m a man!'”
The last documentary followed Harvey as he prepared to move out of home for the first time and join a residential college where he would receive full-time care while also learning to live independently.
Harvey’s care is currently paid for by West Sussex County Council, but Katie recently revealed she’s fighting to keep the funding after the local authority announced a number of budget cuts so her son can stay at his college for another year.
Speaking on her ‘The Katie Price Show’ podcast, she explained: “Anyone who has got a child with needs or anything like that, you do like EHCP [Education, Health and Care Plan] forms, statementing to keep them in or get them to another school.
“So I’m doing that with Harvey because obviously the government, they pay for his schooling. So I’m filling that out. We’ve appealed it. So I’m just sorting all of that out.”
She added any sudden changes in his care could be extremely disruptive for Harvey. Katie said: “With someone like Harvey you need the transitional move, you need to do it slow.”
