Quincy Jones: ‘heartbroken’ Céline Dion pays tribute

OHMYGOSSIP — Céline Dion has been left “heartbroken” by Quincy Jones’ death.
The producer passed away on Sunday (03.11.24) at the age of 91, and the 56-year-old singer – who worked with the musical legend on ‘I Knew I Loved You’ in 2007 and the 2010 version of ‘We Are the World’, which was re-recorded to rise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake – has remembered him as a “cherished mentor” and “musical genius”.
Sharing a photo of them together on Instagram, she wrote: “I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of my friend, the one and only musical genius, Quincy Jones.
“Quincy touched my world as both a cherished mentor and also as someone I looked up to for his deep impact on virtually every form of American music.”
The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ songstress admitted it was a “dream come true” to work with Quincy thanks to his “musical intuition”.
She continued: “I was privileged to work with Quincy, it was a dream come true. In our sessions, his musical intuition was nothing short of profound – he helped me capture “a little piece of heaven.” Quincy always knew exactly what each song needed.”
The ‘Thriller’ producer was also known for his philanthropic work via his Quincy Jones Listen Up Foundation, and Celine will always admire him for how he’s managed to make a difference around the world.
She wrote: “In addition to his kindness and countless achievements, I also admired him for his philanthropic work which benefited the arts, global famine and underprivileged youth. His reach truly extends to all corners of the globe!”
The ‘Think Twice’ singer concluded with an urge for people to remember Quincy’s “wisdom and joy”.
She ended her post: “Quincy once said, ‘Music is the soul of the universe. It connects us all on a level that words alone cannot reach.’ May his wisdom and joy remain with us always. – Celine xx…(sic)”

Ariana Grande credits Cynthia Erivo for helping her heal

OHMYGOSSIP — Cynthia Erivo helped Ariana Grande “heal certain parts” of herself.
The ‘7 Rings’ hitmaker has praised her ‘Wicked’ co-star for inspiring her to stand up for herself and admitted she was in “deep need” of a friend like the 37-year-old actress.
Speaking to the New York Times newspaper, Ariana – who plays Glinda opposite Cynthia as Elphaba in the two-part musical – grew tearful as she said: “I feel really inspired by her fierce ability to be truthful and protect herself.
“Just by being around her, I have become more of an ally to myself when I used to do a lot of self-abandoning, and I really do credit that to our friendship…
“Through spending this time with her and also with a character that believes in herself, I feel like I’ve been able to heal certain parts of myself that were in deep need of having a friend like Cynthia and a friend like Glinda.”
The 31-year-old singer-and-actress has always been a people pleaser but is proud she’s trying to change her stance and advocate for herself more.
She added: “Someone would punch me in the face and I’d say: ‘I’m sorry.’ I’m being silly, I’m doing a bit, but yeah, I had trouble listening to the voices that I knew were true for fear of being judged.
“And I think that it’s a really beautiful thing to overcome.”
And Cynthia values Ariana’s friendship just as much, admitting the ‘Thank U, Next’ singer had “changed [her] life” and helped guide her through a new level of fame.
She said: “I don’t know if she knows, but she’s definitely changed my life. I think it was one of the first times a person looked at me and just was happy with what was there.
“I would tell her about what I wanted for myself as a musician and she just believed it, I think more than I did. I don’t think it was up until I met her that I was like, ‘Oh, I think I can have what I want in this lifetime, and I can have it in my way.’
“[She] taught me to handle this crazy beast that is emerging success, because I’ve had a measure of it but this is new. She’s really held my hand all the way through it and wants it for me just as much as I want for myself”.
Both stars contracted COVID-19 during filming, with Ariana falling ill days before shooting her big musical number ‘Popular’ and Cynthia coming down with the virus before her anthemic performance of ‘Defying Gravity’.
And the ‘Widows’ actress felt it was a sign to slow down so she could give the moment her all.
She said: “At first, it felt like an interruption, and then as it went on, it felt like the rest we needed.
“We’d worked ourselves to the bone.
“I was really grateful because the next thing that we had to do [until the strike happened] was ‘Defying Gravity,’ and it felt like the universe going: ‘You need your full strength to do this.’”

Jennifer Lopez had an ‘intense’ year

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez has had an “intense” year.
The 55-year-old singer-and-actress has experienced turmoil over the last few months, having filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after just two years of marriage so she is really looking forward to having the chance to “slow down” and spend quality time with her family, including 16-year-old twins Max and Emme – who she has with ex-husband Marc Anthony – over the holiday season.
She told People magazine: “It was a pretty intense year for me and I’m most looking forward to spending time with my kids and my family coming out from the East Coast.
“The holidays are such a special time for us and they’ve always been since I was a little girl. And I really look forward to those moments when I can be with my sisters and just relax and have fun and create new memories.
“We don’t get to see each other all year, so we kind of catch up on what everybody’s doing and how life is. It’s just a beautiful time. I really enjoy it.”
The ‘Hustlers’ actress admitted she is “a sucker” for everything the festive season has to offer.
She said: “I love all of the decorations and the hot chocolate and the music and the food, and I’m one of those people who really tries to make it out of a storybook for my kids with all of those things. I’m a sucker for the holidays.”
With 2025 just a few months away, Jennifer is planning to “challenge” herself professionally, while in her personal life she’s striving to find a “deeper connection” to her faith and to look after herself.
She said: “I think a lot of it is about a deeper connection to myself and to God, making sure we’re checking with ourselves so we can be great for everybody that we love around us,
“I’m also setting my sights on pushing my boundaries creatively and seeing where that takes me, whether that’s through acting or music or producing or expanding JLo Beauty.
“I want to continue challenging myself to evolve and to try new things while all the while being true to who I am and those that I love.”

The royal couple will meet director Sir Ridley Scott and cast members including Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen and Pedro Pascal at the event.
Before the premiere, Charles and Camilla will host a reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the TV and film industry in the UK, with guests from various parts of the sector, including directors, actors, stunt performers, presenters, and costume designers, set to attend. The palace will host a display of costumes and props from films including ‘Titanic’, ‘Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World’, and the late Dame Maggie Smith’s outfit from ‘Evil Under The Sun’.

JoJo Siwa feels ‘very comfortable’ with Dakayla Wilson

OHMYGOSSIP — JoJo Siwa and Dakayla Wilson are “not perfect” but they’re “very comfortable” together.
The ‘Karma’ singer’s past experiences had taught her to be less open about her personal life but she went public with her relationship with the ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ contestant in August because she’s never “been in this place” before.
Speaking on a panel at Rhode Island Comic Con, People magazine reports she said: “Just around three months ago, I got into a relationship with an incredible girl and it’s been interesting.
“I was OK to go public with her. She feels special and we’re in a very comfortable place. I’ve never really been in this place that I’m at with her in a relationship before.
“I’m also so young. I’m 21. She’s also young. She’s only 19. We’re both still figuring life out and I think I accepted that. I’ve accepted we’re both figuring life out.
“We’re not perfect, but we have fun. I love the girl. She loves me and we’re having a good time.”
The former ‘Dance Moms’ star admitted one of her past relationships wasn’t “the best” and that experience made her “scared” to be open about her love life.
She said: “I had a public relationship with somebody else that wasn’t the best — it kind of seemed like it was the best, but it really wasn’t the best.
“And then, after it ended, it was really not the best. And it just scared me from sharing relationships publicly.
“It wasn’t anything that really the world did. It was more what went on between the two of us. And I was like, you know what? Lemme just not. So then, I pledged to myself that I wasn’t going to share a relationship anymore.
“And I did good. I was in one serious relationship, but like two flings, and no one knew about any of them. So I will take it. Well-achieved.”
The ‘Guilty Pleasure’ singer also reflected on her “great” first public same-sex romance with Kylie Prew but admitted it was always unlikely they had a long-term future together.
She said: “I mean, I started out in a great relationship. When I first came out, I was in a very, very good relationship.
“We were young. I mean, I was 17 and she was 16. Odds are — sorry if anybody’s 17 or 16 — but odds are your relationship is not going to work at that age. And if you’re older than that, or if you have a 17 and 16 year old and you see them and they think they’re getting married, you can laugh at that because we all know it’s not how it works.
“Sometimes, some high school sweethearts do work out. There is a very small percentage, but it was just very cute, typical.”

Ice-T warns rap beefs are ‘not smart’ anymore

OHMYGOSSIP — Ice-T has warned rap beefs are “not smart” anymore because of the risk of retaliation from other people.
The 66-year-old rapper thinks that although competitive attitudes have always been a part of hip-hop, such feuds have become too dangerous for music as things can “escalate” without the artists’ involvement.
In an interview with ‘Boss Talk 101’, Ice noted his own since-settled beef with LL Cool J was kept within diss tracks, he said: “Hip-hop has always been competitive, so saying ‘I’m better than you’ is part of hip-hop.’
“The problem with beef is it can escalate away from you..”
Offering a hypothetical situation about feuding with Naughty by Nature’s Treach, Ice referenced the aftermath of his controversial 1992 single ‘Cop Killer’.
He said: “I could run into one of his fans on the street who wants to get active.
“When I had the ‘Cop Killer’ beef, I wasn’t worried about a cop. I could run into a cop’s brother or son who wants to start an altercation.
“Having beef is just not smart if you can avoid it.”
And Ice thinks the rise of social media has made the potential risk of escalation even worse.
He said: “Social media is an amplifier to everything. It forces reaction that really could be squashed so much simpler.
“Why people would have a problem and take it to social media is beyond me, especially if you know a n***** phone number.”
The ‘Mind Over Matter’ hitmaker and LL Cool J traded insults in a number of songs in the 1980s and 90s, but caused a stir when pictures of them together at the 2023 Grammy Awards rehearsals in honour of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop were released.
And Ice later insisted their beef had long been over.
He told AllHipHop: “LL and I have been together on different occasions. I’ve worked with him on Rock the Bells, we’ve done podcasts and stuff, but as far as an actual physical picture of us? I think there’s probably one other one out there.
“And I think the other one was before we actually really sat down and talked like grown men about it.
“But yeah, that’s over and lol the beef never really escalated. It was just rap beef.”

Olivia Rodrigo’s late grandfather predicted her stardom

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo’s family believe her success was written in the stars.
The 21-year-old singer is a firm believer in astrology – a method of predicting the future according to the movements of the stars and planets – and inherited her passion from her late grandfather, who drew up her personal chart after she was born on 20 February 2003 and found it suggested she’d grow up to have a career as a performance.
In a video interview with W Magazine, she said: “I’m a big believer in astrology.
“My grandpa — who just passed away this year — was also super into astrology and when I was born, he [read] my [birth] chart. He told my parents that I was gonna be very emotional and a performing artist.
“I like to tell that story to anyone who is an astrology denier.”
Later in the interview, the ‘Good 4 U’ hitmaker read a horoscope for her zodiac sign, Pisces, which declared she was in a time of “extremes”.
She read: “But that does not mean you should be extreme in your own thoughts and actions.
“Take a more balanced view of what’s going on in the world, be the kind of person who makes a constructive difference.”
Olivia then pledged to “make an effort to be the kind of person who makes a constructive difference.”
Olivia has declared herself to be a “spicy Pisces” on her Instagram account and she believes her sun sign has influenced a lot of her traits.
Chopping chillies during the interview, she said: “I’m a little spicy too, hence the ‘spicy Pisces’.
“Pisces love water. And while I’m not a strong swimmer, if there is a body of water within a mile radius of where I am, you best believe I’m going for a swim.”
Although the ‘Bad Idea Right?’ hitmaker was writing new songs while she was on her ‘Guts’ world tour, she recently admitted
she isn’t sure whether they will ever be released as she was only penning lyrics as a “form of self-care”.
She said: “Sometimes it’s hard to write when you’re constantly moving around, and you don’t feel very grounded.
“But I did find a chance to make a few songs on the road.
“Songwriting for me is a form of self-care. It’s like journaling or going to therapy. It makes everything seem so much less overwhelming.
“I definitely wrote some songs, but mostly just for myself. But I think that’s how all good songs start out as anyway.”

Jamie Oliver had ‘worst’ moment in front of Oprah Winfrey

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Oliver was left embarrassed when a diner mistook his guest Oprah Winfrey for Whoopi Goldberg.
The 49-year-old chef had worked hard to create a “lovely” environment for the talk show legend when she visited his now-defunct Fifteen restaurant in London in 2004, but things went awry at the last minute when an over-enthusiastic customer made a gaffe.
Jamie told Nova FM’s Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips: “I think I’ve got nervous cooking for Oprah just because I think she’s really interesting. She came to my Fifteen restaurant.
“As soon as she walked through, the whole restaurant stood up and clapped. We had a lovely, lovely time, and we cooked her a lovely meal.
“She loved the concept, and then as she left, they stood up and again started clapping, and one customer went: ‘We love you, Whoopi.’
“And it’s like: ‘Shut up!’ It was the worst thing in the world.”
Jamie recently recalled another time he was “embarrassed” as he felt awkward when he and wife Jools – who he married in 2000 – decided to renew their wedding vows during a “posh holiday” in the Maldives last year with their five children, Poppy, 21, Daisy, 20, Petal, 14, Buddy, 12, and seven-year-old River.
Appearing on the ‘Newlyweds’ podcast, he said: “We were going to renew our vows at 20 years and then covid happened.
“So, it was at 23 years. The girls were leaving for university and stuff, so it did feel like the nest was starting to break up’.
“We’d never been on what you would call a posh holiday, so we went to the Maldives.
“I was a bit embarrassed about the whole thing, if I’m really honest, and I wasn’t so into it until we got there.”
However, Jamie ended up loving the whole experience “more than anyone”, and he insisted it was much less “awkward” than his actual wedding day.
He recalled: “The first time you get married, it’s like, it just feels a bit awkward and embarrassing.
“But if you ever get married again, if you get to 10 years or 20 years, the words are different. Because you’ve earned every single line and it was really, really emotional.
“The words are still the same words, but they mean different things.
“Basically, like s*** we’ve done it like, wow. And then you look around, there’s all these amazing kids that you’ve made. Yeah, it was incredible.”

Madonna asked Rosie Perez for help in hooking up with Tupac Shakur

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna asked Rosie Perez for help hooking up with Tupac Shakur.
The ‘Do the Right Thing’ actress was escorted to the Soul Train Music Awards in 1993 by the rapper – who was fatally shot in 1996 – after he agreed to step in and be her “wingman” when she was dumped at short notice, and when on the red carpet at the event, her date caught the eye of her pal.
Rosie, 60, recalled on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ on Wednesday (06.11.24): “I was going to the Soul Train Music Awards, and my date calls me up half-an-hour before I’m getting in the car, and says: ‘I can’t go with you because my girlfriend will see me.’
“And I was like: ‘You motherf*****.
“And I hang up the phone, and then it rings again, and I think it’s him. And I was like: ‘Listen.’ And he goes: ‘What’s up, it’s Tupac.’ And he said: ‘You know, I’m going to go with you, we’re going to walk up in there, we’re going to act like we’re on a date, and he’s going to die.”
When Drew asked if they met up with someone else that night, Rosie confirmed they ran into her “dear friend” Madonna and the ‘Vogue’ hitmaker urged her to set her up with Tupac.
She said: “My dear friend Madonna, she was there, and she came up to me and was like: ‘Yo, what’s up. You all together?
“I go: ‘Yeah’. She goes: ‘Hook me up.’”
Madonna went on to secretly date Tupac for a year until 1994, and a “deeply personal” letter the rapper wrote to her previously
revealed he ended their romance because of race and their public images.
In an extract from the note – which was made public by TMZ ahead of it going to auction five years ago – he wrote: “For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardise your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting.
“But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.
“I never meant to hurt you.”

Ted Danson: Good Place writers had ethics professors ‘on speed dial’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Good Place’ writers had ethics professors “on speed dial”.
The NBC sitcom – which ran from 2016 to 2020 – followed various characters as they navigated the afterlife and tried to transform their past conduct for the better, and those penning the scripts were determined to ensure the philosophical topics explored were as accurate as possible.
Speaking on his ‘Where Everybody Knows Your Name’ podcast, Ted Danson – who played afterlife “architect” Michael – said: “‘The Good Place’ is taught in some universities as part of their ethics [courses].
“On speed dial, we had three or four ethics professors who would talk to the writers daily to make sure what we were talking about was right.
“Sometimes it’s good to get a second, third opinion.”
The 76-year-old star previously declared the ending of the show – which saw Michael and his crew restructuring The Good Place so people could leave whenever they felt ready – to be “absolutely perfect”.
He told ‘Today’: “We had a wonderful goodbye. It was really lovely because we had the whole year to say goodbye. We knew it was ending.
“It was perfect. It was an absolutely perfect goodbye. It’s how you hope the universe works, really.”
Shortly before filming ended for good, Ted and his wife Mary Steenburgen invited the cast over for a sleepover.
He said: “Mary had everyone come over and we had a sleepover.
“It makes a party even better when you can wake up, have a coffee and reminisce.”
But the celebrations left the veteran actor “not feeling very legendary” because he was so hungover afterwards.
He said: “I tend to handle transitions by doing something a little too much.
“My kids took me to Stonewall. We missed the cabaret, but we played pool into the wee hours.”

Ariana Grande’s mother Joan wants her ashes scattered at Disney World

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande’s mom wants her ashes scattered over Cinderella’s Castle.
The ‘Wicked’ actress admitted Joan Grande raises the subject with her and her brother Frankie Grande every time they visit Walt Disney World in Florida but it isn’t something she likes to think about.
Discussing Disney landmarks, Ariana told Bowen Yang, 34, and Matt Rogers, 34, on their ‘Las Culturistas’ podcast: “When it comes to Florida. When it comes to the Disney in Florida.
“First of all, we get Cinderella’s Castle. Which is, you know, also a landmark.
“My mom tells us too often that she wants her ashes sprinkled over it. And I’m like, ‘Mom, it’s Christmas. Do we have to talk about this right now?’ And she’s like, ‘Yeah. You have to make sure that happens.
“I’m like: ‘Mom, I don’t wanna make sure that that happens.’”
And the 31-year-old star also pointed out a practical problem with Joan’s plan to have her remains spread over the 189ft-high tourist attraction.
She said: “I think there’s actors back there working. So you’re gonna be sprinkled on people’s heads who are like, dressed as Tinker Bell waiting for their cue.”
Despite Joan’s wish, Disney bosses don’t allow ashes to be scattered at their theme parks.
However, Whoopi Goldberg admitted earlier this year she actually scattered her mom Emma Harris’ ashes at Disneyland on her parent’s favourite ride, It’s A Small World following her death in 2010.
But because the practice isn’t allowed, Whoopi resorted to faking sneezing fits as cover while she randomly “scooped some of her up” to spread the ashes around the ride.
Speaking on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’, she said: “No one should do this. Don’t do it.
“My mother loved Disneyland, we took her to Disneyland.
“When I was a kid, the World’s Fair was (in New York) and it was the introduction of Small World, she loved Small World.
“So in the Small World ride… Periodically I’d scoop some of her up and do this [giant sneeze] and I’d say, ‘My god this cold is getting worse and worse.’
Whoopi then used her sneeze technique by the park entrance.
She added: “And then we got over to the flowers that say Disneyland and I said, ‘Oh look at this’ and [sneezed].”
Despite trying to conceal her actions, the ‘Color Purple’ star confessed to Disneyland bosses afterwards.
She said: “I told them I did it. I wanted to make sure, actually, that I hadn’t done something that was dangerous, ’cause it hadn’t occurred to me. But there’s a reason they don’t want ashes just floatin’ around.”

Paloma Faith admits IVF caused ‘strain’ on marriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Paloma Faith has admitted fertility treatment caused a “strain” on her marriage.
The 43-year-old singer split from Leyman Lahcine – with whom she has two daughters, aged eight and three – in 2022 after nine years together but cracks first started appearing in their relationship when they began having IVF to conceive their first child as the ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ harboured “resentment” towards the artist because of what she had to put her body through, even though it was him with fertility problems.
Speaking to Davina McCall on her ‘Begin Again’ podcast, Paloma said: “When we first started trying, I had previously become pregnant quite easily and so I was concerned.
“It does irritate me that science, because it is mainly dominated by men, is that if it is a male fertility problem, which it was in our case, it is still the woman that has to endure the brunt of the stuff.
“There has been no breakthrough. He was devastated the whole time and said, ‘If there’s something I can take, or I can do injections. Why does it have to fall on you?’
“But it did, and it does. He was empathetic but I think that put a strain on our relationship in itself because his view was ‘You’re so hardworking, breadwinner and all I had to do was this and I can’t do it.’
“It was difficult because I knew I could just conceive naturally and I think that put a strain on us because I’m not someone who buries my feelings. I just say, ‘This is frustrating’. ”
And when Paloma was keen to go through treatment again to have a second child, Leyman warned he didn’t think their marriage would cope with the strain.
She said: “The birth was not ideal and then when we came to lockdown the fertility clinic called me and said, ‘We’re still open, do you want to have another baby?’.
“I said to him, ‘I really want another baby, I’m not working as much. I’ve got more time to relax. Can I do it?’ He said, ‘I don’t think we’ll make it as a couple.’
“I felt resentment, I just felt alone. There’s this mid-life thing and you’re looking at a perimenopause around the corner. It was the last chance saloon.
“I just had it in my head, I need to give this child a sibling. I felt like a single parent even in a relationship.”
Despite their “terrible” split, Paloma and Leyman are now very close and she considers him one of her “best friends”.
She said: “We have a lot of respect for each other. We still say I love you. It will be difficult for the person I end up with but it has to be that way.
“Initially [the split] was terrible, we began again and we remembered all the bits we liked about each other. I still think he is one of my best friends.
“Sometimes if we are emotional or tired we get a bit upset about that. We’re also grateful that there is a friendship.”

Gary Barlow’s royal wine gift

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Barlow’s “most expensive” wine was a gift from King Charles.
The Take That singer is often given bottles of booze from friends and though he has most stored in his cellar at home, the tipple he was given as a thank you present from the 75-year-old monarch in recognition of organising Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee concert in 2012, is proudly on display.
Speaking to Jessie and Lennie Ware on their ‘Table Manners’ podcast, Gary said: “Most of my cellar is actually wine that people have bought for me. It’s got to the point where I write on the side who it’s from.
“I think the most expensive bottle of wine I own is a Pauillac. And I do believe, I’m gonna name drop, I’m afraid.
“The King gave it me. Around the Diamond Jubilee.”
“I organised the concert for that. So he, yeah, I got it sort of a couple of days later with a little telegram and yeah I haven’t touched that. It’s actually not even in the cellar that it’s upstairs in the house”
The 53-year-old singer launched his own wine range three years ago and he’s amazed at how successful the brand has been as it was initially conceived to be a small run of product that he could give to friends as gifts.
He said: “So basically, it’s complete accident, this whole thing, because we’re in lockdown, and I’ve been talking to my manager, said you know what, you know how long I’ve been into wine, I love it, I love it, wouldn’t it be great if I had a bottle with my name on the side?
“And I was thinking like 50, 70 bottles a year. Giving it out to your mates at Christmas, a couple of dinner parties.
“I cannot tell you how much wine has gone out in the supermarkets. We have sold so much wine.
“And it’s cheap, and it’s good, I know where it’s from, I know the people who make it. I’ve learnt a lot. It’s been a brilliant journey.”

Prince William misses search and rescue work

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William “misses” his life as a search-and-rescue pilot.
The Prince of Wales – who spent three years carrying out search-and-rescue missions with the RAF until 2013 before serving as an Easy Anglian Air Ambulance pilot from 2015 to 2017 – grew nostalgic when he met with volunteers for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) at Simon’s Town Harbour during his final day in South Africa on Thursday (07.11.24).
Asked by one crew member if he had ever done search and rescue work, the Daily Telegraph reports he said: “I miss this life. Any chance to get back, I’ll take.”
William – who has Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, with wife Catherine, Princess of Wales – was shown various pieces of equipment and technology used to monitor the waters in the operations room and appeared impressed.
He said: “Driving down the road here, if you look out you can see so much silt being taken out. It’s good to use those apps to inform your work.”
The prince admitted he and Catherine had been trying to educate their children about the dangers of open water.
He said: “We are trying to teach the children to understand currents. The problem with rips is that you don’t know where they are going to appear.”
And William stressed his belief everyone should learn to swim when asked about his efforts to promote lessons through his Royal Foundation.
He said: “Bearing in mind the UK is an island, we should all know how to swim. It’s a life skill that might save your life one day.”
William – in a waterproof coat and lifejacket – then sailed across to Kalk Bay, where he was met with cheering crowds and admitted he had had “the most amazing” few days and only wished his family had been there with him.
He said: “I love Cape Town, I’ve had the most amazing week here, I’ve really enjoyed it. I don’t want to go!
“My children would love to be here, so would Catherine.”
But the prince was given souvenirs to take home to his loved ones, with Kate Wardle, 46, handing him beaded key rings she had had made, three in animal shapes for the children and ‘W’ and ‘C’ trinkets for William and his wife.
He told the wellwisher: “Thank you very much, they’ll love those. Never go home empty handed, that’s important.”
He then joined a group including models Heidi Klum and Winnie Harlow and actor Billy Porter for a traditional South African barbecue.

Drew Scott’s baby daughter can tell him and twin brother Jonathan apart

OHMYGOSSIP — Drew Scott’s baby daughter can already tell the difference between him and his twin brother.
The ‘Property Brothers’ star – who has two-year-old Parker and five-month-old Piper with wife Linda Phan – and his sibling Jonathan joked the tot used to get confused as to why her dad sometimes ditched his beard but has now realised she is interacting with two different people.
Appearing on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ with his brother, Drew said: “Piper is now starting to recognise it’s not me.”
Jonathan added: “Parker, as soon as I show up, he’s so excited, he wants to dance with me and read.
“Now Piper has officially started to recognise me because, for the first several months, she was confused as to why daddy shaved.”
Drew quipped: “And got older looking and more wrinkled and more grey.”
Jonathan – whose partner Zooey Deschanel has Elsie, nine, and Charlie, seven, with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik – admitted he is the “goof” of the family.
He said: “But now she smiles and she’s so excited and I can tell already. Our kids are seven and nine, boy and a girl as well and like I am the goof.
“I am a total immature clown but I’m going to bring all that energy as well to that house.”
Despite his son only being born in 2022, Drew claimed he had “forgot everything” he’d learned about having a baby when Piper arrived.
He said: “Piper, she’s a little sweetheart.
“We have Parker and Piper, PMP Music Factory I call them. She’s such a little sweetheart.
“She’s so different than Parker. Parker’s only two years earlier but I forgot everything I learned with him so it’s like starting over again fresh.
“‘Like how do I maximise changing a diaper efficiently?’ ”
While Drew’s kids adore Jonathan, the 46-year-old stars admitted their mom Joanna hasn’t had such an easy ride from Piper.
Drew said: “The first moment handing her to my mom, cries right away. My mom hates it, it kills her.
“My mom was like, ‘Can you print off a bunch of pictures of my face and put it around her crib.’ I’m like, ‘Do we want to scar the child? Or do we want her to like you?’ ”

Barry Keoghan posts ‘less’ about son online after ‘deadbeat dad’ comments

OHMYGOSSIP — Barry Keoghan says sickening social media trolls reverted to calling him a “deadbeat dad” when he started posting less of his son online.
The ‘Saltburn’ star became a father two years ago to his and ex-partner Alyson Kierans’ son Brando, and the 32-year-old actor recently opened up about his own absent father and how he doesn’t have a “normal father-son relationship” with his little boy because he didn’t have a “blueprint” to take from his own dad.
And he admits that if he didn’t have a “tough skin”, he wouldn’t be able to cope with the number of nasty comments he gets on social media, particularly the ones accusing him of being an “absent father”.
Appearing on ‘The Louis Theroux Podcast’, he said: “There’s a lot online. If I didn’t have tough skin or the strength to have, I wouldn’t be sitting here.
“Of course, [his childhood is] going to affect me being a father when I had no blueprint to take from. People just read that [as] laziness and go, ‘Oh, that’s no excuse to be an absent father.’ I’m not an absent father. But it’s just, again, people love to use my son as ammunition or whatever.”
He continued: “And it kind of leads me to stop, the more attention I’ve [gotten] lately and the more in the public I’ve become, the less I’ve posted about my child, because I don’t think it’s fair to put my child online. And because I reigned that in, people draw a narrative and go, ‘Absent father, s***, deadbeat dad,’ and more disgusting things I wouldn’t even repeat. Just the audacity of some people, man. It sickens me, makes me furious.”
When Louis suggested Barry should stop going on social media, he insisted he’s “curious” about the “slander” being spread about his character and his appearance.
However, he has used the blocked words feature so he doesn’t see the comments that affect him the most.
He said: “When I’ve got a bit of time, I am a curious being like all of us, and you want to know what [people are saying online], especially when it’s slander and when it’s bad comments attacking my appearance or attacking me as a father.
“I’ve even blocked out certain words because I don’t want to read that. Stuff like my son – people don’t deserve to put that in a sentence, anything. I’m just trying to make a living, trying to get a good body of work and create safety for my child.”
